Even if the writers bring in a new LI for Buck, no one is ever gonna beat Tommy Kinard. Sorry! But just look at this material:
Tommy personally knows and respects the life of a firefighter and why it’s so important to Buck, something that Buck’s previous love interests found difficult to understand
Tommy can be involved in calls and can help the 118 in a way others can’t (as we’ve seen)
Even before dating Buck, Tommy had strong connections to the main characters — the most important people in Buck’s life
Buck himself said Tommy is his most transformative relationship since Abby (whom Tommy is also connected to)
Speaking of Abby, Buck pined for her, but it was clear that Abby was ready to move on when she left him. With Buck and Tommy, both of them want each other back. Neither is ready to move on. They pine for each other.
Tommy is one of the very few people who call Buck “Evan” and the only one to do so regularly and with such affection. It was only during the breakup that Tommy called him Buck. The worst day of Buck’s life was the day Tommy called him by the name everyone else uses for him. Because Tommy isn’t everyone else. And no one else will ever be Tommy to Evan.
Tommy was a part of the call that ended with Bobby’s death. Tommy was the only one who saw Buck’s grief after losing the person he considered his father. Tommy was a pall bearer and walked with the main characters at Bobby’s funeral.
Speaking of Bobby, Tommy is the only LI of Buck’s that Bobby approved of. The only one Bobby will ever approve of. Bobby knew Tommy and Tommy knew Bobby. Tommy was part of the 118 when Bobby began again. Tommy saved Bobby’s life before Buck met him.
It was Tommy’s decision to transfer that opened the spot at the 118 that changed Buck’s life.
Literally, Buck is the happiest he has ever been when he is with Tommy. He can be giggly during sex and hold funerals for dead cowboys. Buck smiles and looks at Tommy with so much affection. And Tommy shows up for Buck – whether it’s attending the hospital wedding after an exhausting shift or making sure he’s resting after he’s injured or cooking him a literal feast or stealing a helicopter.
Any LI after Tommy would pale in comparison. The writers will do what they will but … why even attempt to outdo this ... You simply can’t!

theory 8x17
earthquake/fake tsunami warning : doctor odyssey and 9-1-1 jointed timeline without crossover.
9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey both share a universe. As we got confirmed by Angela Bassett's crossover in DO. Not only that but they're both based in LA, which means that if DO is 'getting an earthquake, which triggers a tsunami warning', 9-1-1 should also be getting it. For them to make this plausible both episodes need to air one after the other, the same day. 8x17, and 1x17 air the same week; May 9th.
9-1-1 airs first, but we know already that 8x16 is going to be all about them dealing with Bobby's 'death'. Let's assume that Bobby does come back at the end of the episode after being buried alive. That means that the beginning of 8x17 is going to be about getting Bobby out. I'm guessing that since the leaked script depicted Maddie not recognizing Bobby's voice and him eventually losing signal, the 118 is going to be on the lookout for a while, in the cemetery, without any prior information about who that man might be. The finding that it's Bobby will be a surprise that is going to keep them entertained for the entirety of the episode.
8x17 is called 'Don't Drink The Water', and while is used as a phrase to warn travelers of contaminated waters, we know that while earthquakes are happening it is best to not consume water directly from the source as not only infrastructures are tempered with but also sediments in sweet water bodies, which can eventually mess-up groundwater.
My initial thought regarding the title is that it's inherited and related to the nature of the emergency. The time spam between finding Bobby and the emergency isn't going to be long, in fact I would bet on it happening whilist they get the bell from dispatch. I think this because when Doctor Odyssey airs, they are most likely doing an 'X hours earlier' type of approach instead of continuing the emergency where 9-1-1 left off, as It would feel weird to have another two-parter.
To back the earthquake/ fake tsunami alarm, I will say that Tim has stated in a recent interview that we would have a big emergency as a 'mass casualty' and there's nothing like a natural disaster to cause those.
From what we know so far, in Doctor Odyssey: “After Max’s declaration fractures his relationship with Avery, he leaves the ship and finds himself caught in an earthquake, which triggers a tsunami warning. With The Odyssey forced to leave port, Max races to return before it’s too late.” —The thing is, they never state that it is a tsunami outright, they only say that it triggers a warning. What is happening for sure is the earthquake. For an earthquake to trigger a tsunami, it needs to be between 6-7 magnitude, taking us back to that season 2 earthquake. Season 8 has been all about fake-outs and regression; we've had a lot of callbacks to earlier seasons on storylines that weren't concluded and overall plots that haunted the narrative. So it wouldn't be too far-fetched to think that they're using earthquake-tsunami, both emergencies that we already experienced during season 2 and season 3.
And what did the earthquake and tsunami have in common? They're both heavily Buddie episodes, with Buck and Eddie showing how established their teamwork and friendship already is after they promised to have each other's back an episode ago; An episode ending up with Buck driving Eddie to get Christopher. And the other having Buck save Christopher, who was given to Buck to take care of to distract him from his crushed leg. The tsunami arch concludes with Eddie ensuring Buck that he entrust him Christopher more than anyone else.
I don't want to get into the potential of 'canonifying' buddie of it all, but I do want to get into this emergency being a trigger to get Christopher back to LA during 8x17-8x18 instead of 8x16, and the story focusing on Buck being integrated into the Diaz family dynamic again after as long as Chris left for Texas.
Into the Bobby/Eddie of it all, I think that while in 3x02 it was on Buck to feel impending doom over his place as a firefighter, this worry is going to be shifted into Bobby after his miraculous forthcoming, and Eddie in front of his doubt about whether to stay or to go. And possibly, this is going to be his (Bobby's) last rodeo before he decides that he can't deal with it anymore and he wants/needs to retire, and for Eddie to decide that he needs to stay and get Christopher back in LA at the end of the episode/ or beginning of 8x18.
[the second the director and writter credits for 8x17 drop I'll let yall know if I still stand by this —by the way, I do think Bobby dying is a big mislead to hide something else entirely.
The season finale is called Sesmic Shift I would say the possibilities of getting this are pretty plausible.]

Why I think the writers are setting up Buck to be captain, rather than Hen:
Okay disclaimer: I’m not saying I agree with the writing choices, I don’t think it’s been shown super well, I’m just think it’s what they are doing. But as a Buck girlie, I’m excited for him.
I was all for Cap Hen post-E15 bc I was unable to think critically but now I really think it wouldn’t be good for her. We’ve been shown time and time again that even tho she’s AMAZING at it, it’s bad for her. She’s a workaholic who starts neglecting her relationships. We saw this in the med school plot when she was briefly Cap. She’s said repeatedly she would only do it if she HAD to. Karen this season brought up her never being home. We’ve seen that even when she’s not Cap she struggles with work/life balance. During the Halloween ep it’s all they were fighting about and Hen practically promised never to do that to her and to prioritize her family.
I just don’t want that for her and Karen. I think so people are way better at balancing things than she is, which is why even tho Buck doesn’t think he’s ready, I think the show can show us that he’s been relying on Bobby unnecessarily. He was great during the bridge collapse.
He just needs to prove himself to himself. I think Hen and Chim would trust him now, Eddie would obviously be supportive, and Ravi would probably be a little brat but I love that for him.
If Bobby is gonna retire (bc he’s alive, I refuse to believe otherwise), then the show has always been setting Buck up as his natural successor. He would keep up family dinners. The team loves and trusts him. Bobby trusts him.
It’s the perfect thing for his character development. He goes from this kid who doesn’t know himself and who is so impulsive, and Bobby sees something in him. Something that Chimney really didn’t see and Hen was unsure of. But now they know him, they trust him. He’s proven himself time and time again.
I wish the writers would have been better in the last season at showing Buck is less impulsive, but it’s funny so ofc not. But when it matters to the plot, he knows his stuff. He’s competent. I think with Bobby gone he will have to rely on his instincts and realize they are good and I think that’s his personal plot coming up—other than Buddie ofc
I would obviously LOVE Hen to be cap, but she would kill it and a black female Cap is everything to me, but I don’t think that’s what they are doing.
I feel like this last season has just been reminding us why Hen can’t be. And we know Chim can’t be. And Buck is over Eddie and Ravi in seniority. Ravi’s def not ready. Eddie’s has other stuff going on. So I think Buck is the only option.
Plus i adds really good angst to Buddie bc even if they know their feelings, they will have another obstacle to overcome. Or a reason for them to keep quiet. And I eat up an slow burn so I love that.

Theory time for 911 8x15 & 16
Guys, lbffr i don't think it's a coma dream funeral... There wouldn't be such reactions from the characters like Buck and Hen ON SCENE if they didn't think someone legit died on them... You see the bus thing? That was the "fakeout" of the day, they all barely had time to react other than that initial terror of considering Bobby died, before the man rises from the dust. In the next episode however... we are going through it! We're going to watch them feel the pain of the loss ON THE SCENE.
This is fucking real. They think someone is dead and they're reacting to it.
What leads me to the spoilers. I think it's Bobby being taken on the bag and the preview focusing on Chim is trying to mislead the audience and fans from what have been weeks of teasing Bobby's status after they leak his damn funeral.
There is also the "i'm being buried alive" script, so what i think it might happen is:
Bobby gets infected, but his status changes real fast like the rat and he collapses in front of the team. The episode will end up with the team crying his death because the writers can't miss the opportunity to torture us by ending the peisode like that before a hiatus week
Episode 16 starts with the team mourning (on call), Chimney snapping on Gerard might be because he was saved instead (this scene might happen before the funeral, idk), Then we have the funeral, but then Bobby wakes up in the coffin and calls 9-1-1. I'm assuming he might end up buried with his turnout from the scene due the fact they need to let the virus die with him. The turnout placed behind the truck might be an extra turnout. Also this would explain why he does have a phone in the first place, since we just saw Chimney answering his phone in the middle of the lab call.
Also i think we legit are so focused on the funeral we completely forgot to think about the team's reaction when they realize Bobby is not dead... IMAGINE THE SCENES WE'RE ABOUT TO GET.

Anybody else notice how Bobby has become more buck like in releasing his child side over the years?
How he’s gone from strict shut off Bobby to playful and teasing Bobby. Even a few tantrums and eye rolls along the way 🤣🤣

I need buddie honeymoon phase, not being able to keep their hands off each other, making out every time they can, making inappropriate jokes and just being in each other's space constantly and all the fire station is just– weird because it is not that far from what they had before but now everyone is scared to go in the bunk room or open a supply closet

They have set themselves up for a perfect parallel if Buck is the one actually getting kidnapped in spring premier instead of Maddie.
Let me set the stage, Eddie is in Texas doing some final views and meetings for the house he wants to buy. He's not in LA when Buck initially goes missing.
The 118 are on a 48 off, and considering that Buck has been actively and loudly avoiding his phone and they all have their own problems to deal with, they wouldn't necessarily notice if he had gone missing. It wouldn't be until Buck didn't show up to his shift that anyone would notice what went wrong.
However, there is one person that might notice, but can't do anything because he's in Texas. And I think that fact that they very clearly showed Eddie's call history, and that he has no missed calls with Buck (while Buck is avoiding his phone), means that he would notice if Buck missed his phone call.
So Eddie gets a sign that something is wrong with Buck and can't either contact anyone about it, or they all brush it off.
You know when that has happened before?
When the 911 dispatch center was taken hostage and no one believed initially believed Chim that something was wrong.
When the cruise ship was in danger and no one initially believed Hen that something was wrong?
Like, it's happened before, it will happen again.

Spoiler Warning for 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 15
9-1-1 Season 8 episode 16-18 theory
So i genuinely don’t think Bobby dies…. okay so think about it he was exposed to the virus at the same time Chimney was (i will take into note that he was exposed sort of more gradually because it was only because the tube for his oxygen popped while chims entire mask broke, however virus’s are incredibly tiny and it could really easily flow through and he’d be breathing it in DIRECTLY). HOWEVER how come bobby didn’t start showing symptoms or becoming as weak as chimney did? It could’ve been pure will by the power of God he was able to move fine. But it makes zero sense if they were exposed at the same time that bobby wouldn’t have been in the same state as chimney especially since bobby is older. We also NEVER see his body being placed in the body bag, just him going down to pray then the bag being taken out. As well as in the promo for episode 16 we can see athena saying “He just left” which could very well just be the grief because when someone you love dies it feels like they left you but what if like he DID leave or he went into some sort of witness protection and this was a cover up? Another thing i noticed when rewatching it over is bobby didn’t really show any signs of weakness nor do you see his eyes being shallow BEFORE they finally open the doors (could’ve just been lighting and the mask but…). I’m thinking maybe we just didn’t see what happened when bobby was in there “alone” when everyone else left. and before you say “well all the actors confirmed Peter Krause leaving the show” now what if we’re just being LIED to. Anyways that’s my theory we’ll see if i’m right because i refuse to believe that 9-1-1 would renew for season 9 without the literal MAIN MAIN character.

theory time: bucks is lost and looking where he belongs in the 118 and with eddie. he helped him by moving in to his place, now that eddie's back maybe he doesnt know if he's staying and he is looking for a place to move out or thinking of looking paraleling sob stories. maybe we follow eddie's pov instead of surprising us at the end and he talks about that with hen. he is a bit awkward about the whole thing like when buck came out to him (''you dont know me'' ''dont drink the water''). eventually eddie tells him to stay. buck doesnt make any changes: he stays in his normal spot at the 118 and with eddie. buck doesnt drink the kolaid (makes changes while in a state of panic). eddie doesnt drink the water > water's not safe anymore, he chooses to drink juice. joy. buck

Call me delusionator 500 the way my mind has come up with another proof that Bobby isn't dead.
He can't be dead because this is madney's baby welcoming party at the end of season 8 I'm now more sure than ever (Maddie is going to be giving birth when the big emergency we've seen being recorded breaks through.) 1st pic we have them recording outside in their patio, 2nd pic we have Sue attending the party too so it makes sense it's directed to Maddie, 3rd we have Maddie no longer pregnant, 4th we have Bobby dressed up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm adding to this that Maddie being suddenly so noticeably pregnant after only a two week time jump is only done so they could get everything in place and prepare the audience to make her break waters during 8x18.
I have more than one reason to believe that they will be having another time jump from the moment she gives birth, to the party.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
+ this recent behind the scenes picture that was posted 22mins after writting this post.
Tumblr media
They would not be having a party if Bobby was dead on top of everything, if Peter Krause being there hasn't convinced you enough.
+ Hen and Buck also being there. (Oliver holding a party cup.)

buck getting a pet and then when eddie and christopher move back they use the pet as an excuse for buck to stay living with them because they “don’t want to confuse them” and “what if buck’s new place doesn’t allow pets?” etc.. i’m connecting the dots guys i’m not going insane i promise

I have a crack theory - based off a cracked theory (and the episode titles/film stills, etc) but this is the season of crack theories so what the heck lol
So a lot of people have wondered if the Hotshots show is based of Taylor Kelly’s book and since they appear to be doing scenes based on the actual injuries the 118 have gotten there’s a good chance that’s correct
People have also wondered if Brad is gonna go a bit 😵‍💫 due to his obsession with Bobby
And Tim said he wants to go back to old plot lines that weren’t tied up and what’s a Taylor plot line that wasn’t tied up?
The emergency distress bracelet Buck got her for Christmas
So my crack theory - Hotshots is based on Taylor’s book, Brad or someone else on set is obsessed with the 118, to the point where they’ve studied the text religiously
And they can’t stop thinking about Taylor’s bracelet
Did she keep it?
Did Buck keep the connecting app/device?
So maybe they track down Taylor’s location or break into her home, they just need her bracelet, she doesn’t even need to actually be involved (or maybe she is, who knows?)
Either way, they get the bracelet and set it off
Just to see what happens…
And of course Buck would come, it doesn’t matter how they ended things, he never stops caring about the people he loved, I mean after she abandoned him, he promised Abby to bring her fiancé back to her and he did!
Of course Buck would come to the rescue if he thought Taylor needed him
And then bam!
Disaster strikes
Because this person wanted to see if Buck would come and he did and this person felt a rush unlike any other, they like getting to play with these “characters” - now let’s see what happens if they’ve got Buck in their clutches
And they makes the 118 jump through hoops to save him and in the process Buck (or maybe someone else) gets majorly hurt
(And this could then tie into some of the Buddie theories I’ve seen about Buck having a NDE and Eddie getting punched in the feelings because of it)
Anyways this is genuinely a crack theory, I do not believe this will actually happen even if Hotshots is based off Taylor’s book and/or someone from the set is freakishly obsessed
But what a wild ride and what a call back it would be if it did, you know?
