this feels too large of images for such a little drawings but I do not know if i can change them lmao so tiny-kira and tiny-data are just gonna be taking up a lot of space
i started to try to digitize kira, got like 20 minutes into it, and then remembered that i hate just about every single step in digital art, so. i stopped. pencil doodle it is!

maturity in shows doesn't come from sex scenes, gore, blood and other such visuals. They (can) add onto a already mature show if done right.
but if a kid could watch a show if you take out the sex scene and understand it, well then the only reason the rating is up is because of the sex scene.
if a kid could watch a show if you take out its bloody and gore parts then the only reason the rating is up is because of blood and gore.
that should never be the goal. Now I'm not even saying season 2 of Arcane falls into that because it still handles heavier topics but it declined after season 1, making everything feel more shallow. So if fans criticize and anyone comes around with "you just don't understand mature stories" that does not make the fans who look critically the fool.

every now and then i experience brief moments of self-awareness telling me to make major changes to the fusionsprunt story
#queue#maybe it has to do with this need of visualizing it as an actual tv show. it's not necessarily a bad thing#it's so much fun to question what would happen if a specific part was rewritten or twisted into smth else. how would it work and all#for example. i've been thinking. what if Hunter was an actual robot? how does his interaction with Exocannis and B2 change bcs of it? :0#i dont think that part will be rewritten but it's an interesting possibility#one thing i wanted to change is Gideon's lore though!#the way he disregards B2 doesn't sit right w me (and ig it didn't with everyone else who read the lore)#also! there's not much info about his childhood. it was nice until BOO TRAUMAAA.#overall i wanted to introduce him some other way. the way Gideon Rigell would do!#perhaps with a little comic? a loose dialogue in an artwork of sorts#comparing him to who he is currently is like going. wow! good job buddy ur getting better! but also you should probably seek therapy...#as for B2. i have some ideas.#some times i enjoy exploring new designs in which she looks VERY non-human or has some sort of non-human mentality#a true alien!#i wanna redesign her siblings and make all of them have an 'x' somewhere in their names#what if Beatrix had 4 siblings? what if she was the 'youngest'? what if they were all created by the same person#a person who was responsible for their creation but who also treated them like their own children#some kind of enthusiastic visionary with a passion for robotics who genuinely cared for machines. even 'mindless' ones#Also B2's relation to the Holloway Comet#like no. that's the. that's The Mother. that's the mother guys that's UNQUESTIONABLE#im talking about Monument Mythos vibes yknow. about giant n terrifying monuments/objects#i'm also cooking up ideas for comics focused solely on Bee#oneshots of sorts.... i should probably start sketching......#why am i having good ideas when i barely slept last night HSBWYSBWHDBHQHASSHHA#starbstalks

Not a criticism or analysis but my interest in Alastor got me into jazz, electro swing and Lousiana (Black) history and I feel my life is richer for it. I've been having a great time since getting attached to this show!
That's great!! I'm happy for you, Anon ^^

Oooooooh YES I want the ramble about the color choices in Little Mist Perfect!!! Ramble away!! Please!!!
ALRIGHT SO
In Little Mist Perfect, I used the background colors for two purposes - character relations and setting the mood. In one case, at the same time.
For light blue, yellow, orange and turquoise, I'm using them to tie the panels to Mist and Spark. Notably, Mist's main color is blue and Spark's main color is orange, so the analogous colors they share are "switched" in their relevance. I use this to show the state of the relationship between the two. For example, in this one:
Tumblr media
Turquoise is paired with blue in the upper part and orange is paired with yellow on the lower part. This is the part of the story where the two are closest, everything is going well and there aren't really any issues
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On these two pages, on the other hand, everything is going wrong. The former is just Mist spiraling and thinking about how he messed everything up, but on the latter there is actually a conflict - the page is almost fully encased in blue, with only a bit of orange showing.
There's actually another bit of relevant context here! When it comes to Mist's design, the color blue is a sign of his repression - that's why the large blue coat encases the sweatshirt and pants he wears underneath, why the blue scarf is wrapped around the yellow fur of his neck, and why the weight of the lab accident, the incident that (in Mist's mind) is HIS fault, is on top of his head at all times.
So in the latter panel, it is the very act of Mist repressing his own feelings that is in conflict with Spark, it's his inability to accept the events of the previous night that are stopping him from developing a relationship with Spark at this point
Black/gray is a very simple color in here: I use it for Mist's lowest points, the times of crisis and deepest pits of repression
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At first they're small, isolated parts of single pages, thoughts Mist can drown out and repress further, but after Spark's visit, when he's being confronted by his inner demons, he can't ignore it anymore - Mist has bottled up his thoughts for far too long and that has come to bite him in the ass.
Lastly, pink!
Pink is fun because it serves both purposes at once:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It sets the mood for some of the romantic scenes, highlighting the romantic feelings shared between Mist and Spark,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But it's also Agate's main color. It's the color of Mist's biggest regrets when it comes to his romantic life. It's the color of the mistakes he fears he'll make again with Spark. It's the color that proves he doesn't know what love is, not because he lacks experience with love but because he is fundamentally an unlovable person
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or so he thinks. Because as much as it's Agate's color, it's also the color shown with Spark's reaction towards him, the color that shows what they feel about him, and they simply do not think of him like that. In his anguish over how Spark must hate him for what he's done, Spark is realizing that they, in fact, do love Mist. He's not unlovable to them, he's perfect.

you prolly get this question a lot, but whats with the colored text? i imagine its to break up the text for easier reading or something, but i actually find it harder to read :(
Thank you for inadvertently reminding me that I also really ought to set up a FAQ. Writing this in uncolored text so that you can read it better, because I’ve gotten a handful of asks and comments about this and I feel I need to address it, broadly speaking.
It’s a reading tool for people with ADHD. Many ADHDers find it difficult to read/comprehend text, especially longform text, and this is just about never accommodated for or considered in any capacity. Most are simply told to just get better at focusing, which is… You know, ableist, in this context!
ADHD is a very common mental disability, and difficulty reading is a genuinely very common aspect of it. Many Homestuck fans have ADHD, or a form of reading difficulty quite similar to that of most ADHDers. And yet, a lot of things are totally walled off for them, because a lot of people write their analyses, stories, et cetera, as giant, unformatted walls of text. It’s not a crime, but it is noteworthy. Text-based fanwork is simply rendered inaccessible for many, even though there are ways to mitigate it. It sucks!
If it makes it more difficult for you to read, then it is probably just not an accessibility tool made for you. Sometimes accessibility tools won’t work for you, or aren’t made with you in mind. That’s fine. Braille wasn’t made with the Deaf in mind. Hearing aids weren’t made with the Dyslexic in mind. I’ve received substantially more messages from people saying it actually helps them read, and thanking me from the bottom of their hearts for accommodating to them and their struggles when nobody else will- when most other peoples reaction is to simply mock them- than I have people saying they’re hindered by it, or even outright telling me to stop just for them- the self-centeredness of that!- to the point where I find that the pros outweigh the cons.
Please understand this. I really do not intend to take an accessibility tool away from people who need it. I do not intend to stop employing an accessibility tool that I made for a specific group of people that has been shown to me to be really effective. If it doesn’t suit you, that’s fine. But it might not have been made for you in the first place.
Accessibility tools are tools. They are not one-size-fits-all. What I have with me is a hammer, and that might not be helpful when what you need is a wrench. That’s fine, we’re all operating with different machines with different parts that need their own special maintenance. But I’m not throwing the hammer away because a couple people needed a wrench, and you’re not required to take the hammer instead of a wrench, either. You need different tools than I do, and someone else will need different tools than either of us will. Maybe they need a screwdriver or something.
No one’s a villain for needing different tools.
Thank you and have a nice day.

My Roman Empire is that in kung fu panda 3 they just gave tigress a completely different outfit and just didn’t even address it. Like not even an offhand mention.

Hate seeing people make human fanart of certain robot characters. Sorry. Sorry. It would not be a generic white guy. It would not be able bodied. It would NOT have skin. Never in any world would it accept having skin. And genuinely tell me why there is any reason for it to be human. I’m not telling you what to do but I am saying what you’re doing is stupid. 👎

A lot of fiction these days reads as if—as I saw Peter Raleigh put it the other day, and as I’ve discussed it before—the author is trying to describe a video playing in their mind. Often there is little or no interiority. Scenes play out in “real time” without summary. First-person POV stories describe things the character can’t see, but a distant camera could. There’s an overemphasis on characters’ outfits and facial expressions, including my personal pet peeve: the “reaction shot round-up” in which we get a description of every character’s reaction to something as if a camera was cutting between sitcom actors.
When I talk with other creative writing professors, we all seem to agree that interiority is disappearing. Even in first-person POV stories, younger writers often skip describing their character’s hopes, dreams, fears, thoughts, memories, or reactions. This trend is hardly limited to young writers though. I was speaking to an editor yesterday who agreed interiority has largely vanished from commercial fiction, and I think you increasingly notice its absence even in works shelved as “literary fiction.” When interiority does appear on the page, it is often brief and redundant with the dialogue and action. All of this is a great shame. Interiority is perhaps the prime example of an advantage prose as a medium holds over other artforms.
fascinated by this article, "Turning Off the TV in Your Mind," about the influences of visual narratives on writing prose narratives. i def notice the two things i excerpted above in fanfic, which i guess makes even more sense as most of the fic i read is for tv and film. i will also be thinking about its discussion of time in prose - i think that's something i often struggle with and i will try to be more conscious of the differences between screen and page next time i'm writing.

i won't lie, there's been a certain level of both reassurance and self-consciousness in reading WIWV which is both that it makes me go, oh, maybe I don't need to think so hard or be so concerned about my placement of dialogue, or rather the way I tend to break it apart to go along with movement and so on and so forth -- and also that sometimes lately I do look at my WIPs and think about how fragmented into tiny paragraphs they are and how action-by-action, movement-by-movement they tend to be --
but of course, I'm not writing literary fiction, an I? 😂 I'm writing, essentially (whether fanfic or original) romance fiction and prose soap opera stuff eith some action, except for where some moments (mostly Kaine) veer vaguely upmarket haha
