Persona 5 Kitchenette (Cooking)
Tumblr media
is a P5 game idea i came up with... instead of the main PT, the stars here are the auxiliary phantom thieves instead (and joker): akechi, sumire, sophia, zenkichi, and toshiro. this came be because i'm annoyed at how zenkichi (and sophia) are not in P5T, so i thought "you know what, because i am complaining about the lack of P5S guys in P5T, and the royal trio fans complain about the lack of P5R guys in P5S, what if i merge the left out folks in a game. world peace???"
it's basically cooking mama, but a bit more elaborate. the game will be split in 3 parts: shopping, teaching, and cooking. more below (VERY LONG)
storyline
winter holiday is coming up. joker and the gang plans another reunion in leblanc. but then, joker remembers something: the team was bigger, sometimes. there are some of the PT comrades that have yet to chat and meet with them, or even with each of them. so he decided to whip up a surprise: he'll invite not only the main PT, but also the auxiliaries, to meet with each other and the main team.
so joker invited the auxiliary gang ahead of the D-Day. and to make the smaller mini reunion more fun, he decides to do a cooking lesson with them, and they have to cook this on the real reunion day - for the main PT gang.
for the mini reunion, they'll be cooking in sojiro's house, instead of leblanc because of course, leblanc will be filled by customers, duh! they'll have some chats - the awkward one, funny one, annoying one... some character developments and look deeper on the ideals and meanings from the journeys each aux members have gone through. exploring the possible paralels in each characters, contrasts, and what they have been doing while they're off the game.
gameplay
the game is basially visual novel with minigames. it has 2 modes:
story mode: follows the story above. the story itself won't be long, probably like... 3 hours? 5? i dunno. it will play like P5T format: gameplay - dialogue - repeat. i personally find this format to be monotonous to enjoy, so the break sections (the one with menus) will probably allow you to walk around the house and outside? still, all you can do here is talk, so probably there'll be reward for talking. maybe bonuses to ease your next minigame. the character you'll be playing as is scripted.
free mode: you can cook whatever you want in here. it's off from the main story, so treat it like an "what if" (like joker's wedding scenarios in P5T). you can cook whatever you want - there are even new recipes in this mode! complete all the recipes perfectly to achieve platinum. you can pick anyone you'd like to play as (though they determine the kind of minigame you'll be playing, being shopping/teaching/cooking - except joker, he can play all these three).
meanwhile, the game parts are as below. these aren't super fixed or anything, could be changed.
shopping: you'll be playing as sophia. retaining her role in PT as a vendor, your job is to shop the items joker is asking you. joker will give you some items to buy. each item are bought by playing 2 minigames: maze and "find the difference".
maze: sophia has to find the right website to buy the item... by donig code blocks, because she's an AI. code it right, so sophia won't get lost among the sea of websites... the most monotonous one i guess, as there isn't many varieties to it...
find the difference: joker wants these items precise, so you gotta pick the right shop and item based on joker's note. plays like papers, please!, where there are details you can inspect deeper to match and make sure you get the right one (like fake customer reviews, for example)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. teaching: you'll be playing as sumire and toshiro. each of them will do 1 recipe (so 2 recipes in total). they can cook well, so joker would like you to teach akechi and zenkichi how! teaching is kinda half-half on cooking and "pick the right one" game.
cooking: your job is to prepare the ingredients. these are too advanced for those bad cooks, so hopefully this will ease their process (like preparing fish from the bones, or whole chicken).
"pick the right one": basically making sure those bad cooks do the instructions properly (example, placing the right step to do in the progress bar in stirring process), with a timer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. cooking: you'll be playing as akechi and zenkichi. each of them will do 1 recipe (so 2 recipes in total). they're confirmed to be bad at cooking, so joker wants them to learn cooking better... for akechi so he can stop buying take outs, and for zenkichi so he can cook for akane better. this one is full cooking a la cooking mama, so their mingame depends on the recipe they're cooking.
for the mini reunion, you'll be playing shopping and teaching. sophia will shop the ingredients for both mini reunion and reunion day, while sumire and toshiro will teach you how to cook in mini reunion day. in the real reunion day, you'll be playing cooking only.
i was thinking to pair sumire-zenkichi and toshiro-akechi, because pairing sumire-akechi will probably develop less new things from them, as they've met in P5R. but i'm sure that developing new things isn't everything - i think akechi-sumire is a lacking connection in the royal trio triangle, and i'm sure this game will also be about getting new interactions from the established character dynamics. so probably, first half of the teaching/cooking section will be sumire-zenkichi and toshiro-akechi, while the second half is the opposite (or you can swap the order). so you get all.
as for morgana (because morgana is always next to joker), he'll be there as emotional support commentary cat during the gameplay. sophia can also be one during teaching/cooking.
as for the recipes, some will be taken from joker's kitchen in P5S. the ultimate recipes, leblanc coffee and curry, will only be unlockable in free play.
Tumblr media
costume
i approached this one with functionality & "what would atlus do", even when i don't know what people wear at winter!!! otherwise, i'd take joker's glasses off and all that... though i believe i can be better at the color picks - i don't think atlus does color coding that much, judging the costume variants in the game. everyone who has long hairs will be tied, because like futaba said:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
joker: i observed that his wardrobe is mostly plain, no pattern or peculiar detail. so i gave him shirt with not too much decor other than the buttons and black lines on end, and jeans to make it homey, but still kinda formal for guest visits. joker's appron is the appron he use in leblanc. nothing fancy behind it...
akechi: i noticed a running joke about akechi and plaid patterns when i was doing scramble zine and ya. all his wardrobe has that. so i gave him yellow plaid outer. he sorta has earthy color and his party color is brown. but his pants are already beige, so it's... yellow. his appron is kinda fancy, but still clean sleek. has metallic accents (pocket pins and harness) to give a bit boldness to it, vibing his loki side. i came up that shido facilitated him the appron if he wants to cook himself, but too bad he doesn't know that akechi can't cook...
sumire: she starts to feel more comfortable living as sumire again, so she wears the glasses back. i left her hairstyle as is, as it has lore. her fit is mostly opposite of kasumi, being more modest. color is from the violet dress she bought with joker in 3rd semester. her appron is... this wasn't really the plan (i think of picture printed appron), but i can't come up with a design yet!!! so i think she'd just have normal appron, but with patterns. kinda looks aunty/mom vibes... i think of the tora shirt she picked with joker. it's pretty mom/aunty vibes and sumire wasn't actually sure when she picked that, but i think she eventually developed a slight interest in those kind of patterns. i'm still considering to change the design, though... not 100% fixed.
sophia: she's a unique case, as her role/game is not cook, but shopper! so she becomes a delivery girl. ichinose came up with her look. so i gave her delivery jacket. her design is the most difficult, as i don't usually like drawing overdecorated anime fits, and how sophia is meant to evoke friendliness according to soejima & kanda, plus keeping her minimalistic aesthetics. then i combined the details it with puffer jackets, while making sure it's not overdecorated and making it as similar as sophia's original shilouette. IMO it became a bit too playful, as i slapped colors that are not in her original design. the blue green red accent is taken from sophia's shop UI. treat it like sophia's shop employee jacket! her footwear is a bit taller and is a shoe now. she's travelling the net, so...
zenkichi: the adults are tricky. they still wear the suit, so i could only change the shirt and tie. zenkichi's design is pretty normal common, even his design uniqueness is logical: when people's shirt button are usually similar colored to the shirt, his is a peculiar black. so i gave him pocket with black lining... he'll mostly be off suit, so there's no problem with suit obscuring pocket. his tie is also off. his appron is new. but because he doesn't know much cooking, he bought an overkill appron, AKA a barista appron with many pockets...
toshiro: i'm not really sure what is his job after P5T... but i assume he still wears suit around. so he wears a pale purple shirt. his tie is still purple, but grid pattern. he doesn't wear gloves anymore too, of course. i don't know toshiro's icon. we need to think that... his appron is plain, simple, and functional. the best that works with his housechores, something he excels at.
bonus contents
i'm thinking of a DLC with another character that have big impact to the story, but also too out of the picture to come back: maruki. i haven't decided how it will be like though. for now, i'm thinking either of these:
a separate day in the story, where you just cook with maruki. no shopping section in this DLC, just cooking and teaching. they both will teach a recipe to each other, and talk a bit more about how's maruki been doing.
a dream section or something? comes down to whether i can come up with a reason to summon the other PT auxes to this story. basically, besides maruki, you can invite 1 more guy from the list of PT auxes to cook with him. so each character will have their own storyline. more on this option:
sumire will be about reflecting their past relationship and how things are now, akechi about 2/2 (but pretending they don't meet, so it fits both who do the akechi and normal versions) and probably shido ties, toshiro and zenkichi about what happened to them in 3rd semester and how they feel when they found out, and sophia about learning maruki's heart research.
i assume toshiro is immune to maruki's influence in a way for now, because erina was born to protect him from godly influence... or maybe because salmael has taken place? i dunno. could be he's not immune either though, if erina's meant to only protect from salmael and not maruki.

The Final Click
Tumblr media
The video opened with a low mechanical hum, the sound of a workshop alive with quiet, deliberate motion. C9J18 stood on the platform once again, his posture rigid, the sleek black armor now fully integrated with his body. The segmented plates fit seamlessly together, the faint glow of the suit’s internal systems casting a cold light on his skin where it met the edges of the armor. Only his shaved head remained exposed—a temporary state that was about to change.
A Suit Technician stepped forward, fully suited in his own armor, his visor up. His smirk was visible, sharp and cynical, as he held the final piece of C9J18’s transformation: the helmet. The technician turned it in his gloved hands, its polished surface gleaming under the workshop lights.
“Well, here we are,” the technician drawled, his voice filtered slightly through his suit’s comm system. “The crown jewel of your integration. Once this goes on, you’re not just a cadet anymore. You’re part of the system.”
He stepped closer, holding the helmet up for a final inspection. “One size fits all,” he said with a faint chuckle. “Not that it matters. The AI will make it fit... whether you like it or not.”
C9J18 swallowed hard but didn’t respond. He simply stood at attention, his eyes fixed forward as the technician lowered the helmet over his head. The moment it settled into place, there was a sharp click followed by a faint hiss as the seals locked, connecting the helmet to the rest of the suit.
The technician’s smirk widened as he checked his wrist-mounted display. A stream of telemetry data scrolled across the screen, highlighting C9J18’s vitals, neural responses, and suit integration status. “Look at that,” he said with mock admiration. “Perfect fit. Just like it was made for you. Or maybe you were made for it.”
Inside the helmet, everything was dark at first—an all-encompassing blackness that seemed to press against C9J18’s senses. For a moment, there was only the sound of his own breathing, amplified slightly by the helmet’s internal comms. Then, with a faint whir, the visor began to activate. A dim light flickered to life, growing brighter as the system calibrated itself to his neural patterns.
“Welcome to your new world,” the technician said, watching the data streams on his display as the helmet synchronized. “Don’t worry—it’ll all start to make sense soon. Or not. Either way, you’ll adapt.”
The visor fully illuminated, revealing the HUD for the first time. The view was clinical, sterile, and utterly devoid of humanity. Unimportant details in the workshop were greyed out, the AI deeming them irrelevant. Telemetry data crawled across the edges of his vision—heart rate, oxygen levels, suit integrity. A faint overlay marked the positions of nearby personnel, each tagged with their alphanumeric IDs.
Tumblr media
The technician gestured at him, his movements highlighted by the HUD. “How’s it feel?” he asked, though his tone suggested he didn’t really care. “Strange at first, isn’t it? Like your head’s full of static. Don’t worry—that’s just the AI integrating with your sensory inputs. Give it a few minutes. You’ll stop noticing soon enough.”
A new menu appeared in the HUD, labeled Calibration, its options faintly glowing. The technician tapped his wrist display, and the menu expanded.
“Let’s get you set up,” he said, his tone laced with sardonic amusement. “We’ll start with the basics. Visual alignment, auditory filtering, neural response thresholds. Don’t worry—we’ll take care of all the hard stuff. You just stand there and let the suit do the thinking.”
The calibration process began. The HUD’s display shifted subtly, adjusting brightness, contrast, and focus. The edges of C9J18’s vision pulsed briefly as the system fine-tuned his peripheral awareness.
“See that?” the technician asked, pointing to a highlighted option in the menu. “That’s your task queue. Automated orders, courtesy of the AI. It’ll tell you what to do, when to do it, and how. You’ll learn to love it—or at least obey it. Either way, it gets the job done.”
Another section of the HUD displayed a comms menu, most of its options greyed out. The technician grinned. “Comms are restricted for now. You’re a cadet. You don’t get to chat unless the system says so. But don’t worry—once you’re authorized, you’ll have the privilege of hearing even more of our delightful voices.”
He tapped another menu labeled Sensory Adjustment. “This one’s fun,” he said, his grin widening. “The AI controls your sensory input. If it thinks something’s irrelevant, it tones it down. If it wants you to focus, it cranks things up. Pain, heat, cold... all dialed to whatever setting keeps you most productive. Efficient, isn’t it?”
C9J18 blinked as the system tested its control, briefly amplifying the sensation of the suit against his skin before dulling it to near imperceptibility. The technician chuckled. “Feels good, doesn’t it? Like a second skin. You’ll forget it’s even there—until you can’t.”
The POV shifted to C9J18’s perspective as the technician stepped back, his figure outlined in faint blue by the HUD. A notification appeared in the corner of the display: Integration Complete. Awaiting Commands.
Tumblr media
The technician gave him a mocking salute. “Congratulations, cadet. You’re now a fully integrated asset of the Republic. Welcome to the rest of your life.”
As the feed faded, the Intelligence Conscript’s voice returned, smooth and cold. “The suit isn’t just armor. It’s a system. A tool. A way of life. And now, it’s his reality. Every moment, every thought, every action is guided, monitored, and optimized. He’s not just wearing the suit—he is the suit.”
The final shot lingered on C9J18’s HUD, the unrelenting data streams and greyed-out options framing his vision. The screen faded to black, leaving only the faint hum of the system in the background.

@enstars-selfship-event thanks mods r and m! stay strong!
Rating: 16+ for implied/referenced sex and light horror.
Genre: Supernatural, Black Comedy
Ship: Snakesling (Ibara Saegusa x Milton Pelage)
Notes & Warnings: Future AU (Ibara is 28). Thank you to my fellow Mod Apple for the consultation on Indonesian superstitions! Zeta is its super cool looking sona, please look out for the eldritch skrimbly on our blog!
What is Snakesling?
Ibara is 28 and Cospro President. Eden has gone solo for profit maximisation. He deals with that by letting loose at his new resort, Limbus Tropicae, and my sona Milton is unfortunately(?) the bartender. Read my yume intro to find out more about my setting!
Summary
Ibara has to personally represent Cosmic Productions at Startech Asia, the Met Gala of idol agencies. Each agency makes their name at the convention by a new prototype to revolutionise the entertainment world - and so far, the walking AI-assisted lifelike nuis of himself have been falling flat.
Milton’s just added ‘spirit shaman in training’ to his CV, and is convinced he can add a little something special to the circuitry…
Part 2
Tumblr media
“Jelangkung, Jelangsat…”
Even the flame of the lighter had begun to shrink at the sound of these words. With no moon in the sky, it only cast a dinner-plate sized glow over all three of their faces.
Betraying logic, Ibara began to count. He needed to make sure they were really alone.
“Di sini ada pesta…”
We have a party here,
Milton. Leaning into the flickering light, absorbed like a ten-year old child.
“Pesta kecil-kecilan…”
A small party.
Himself. Shaken from sleep, an even ghastlier presence than the crooked trees against the full moon.
“Jelangkung, Jelangsat…”
The Shaman, chanting, eyes like a fish behind that monochrome mess of hair…
“Datang tak dijemput…”
Come uninvited
…And of course, the doll.
The industry-standard chibi of cheap fabrics and flimsy seams. They were stretched to their limit on a crucifix of sticks in some simulation of a medieval punishment, a deeply uncomfortable sight considering it bore his face.
It knew he was responsible for its plight. That empty, coquettish stare made Ibara feel like he was the human counterpart that robbed him of a worthy existence.
“Pulang tak diantar.”
Go undelivered.
The sticks snapped as hard as the doll’s neck.
“Pelage, watch out! Pelage – !!”
Tumblr media
“...That all it’s supposed to do?”
The toy waddled across the mattress on its stumpy little legs. Barely half the length of an index finger, they struggled to keep its fully stuffed balloon of a head upright. Given the thing already moved like it was made of solid iron, this caused it to sway harder than a vagrant leaving a pub at one in the morning.
A slew of muffled, enthusiastic Japanese greetings left from somewhere in the factory-made mess. It then slammed itself repeatedly against his arm.
“It’s a work in progress.” Ibara sighed pointedly, covering the blanket over his bare chest.
“Dude, I’m gonna be real with you, a Tickle-Me-Elmo’s got more personality than this thing.” Milton winced and grabbed the nui by its swollen head, then sent it on its way to beat its outstretched arms on Ibara’s leg. “Oh man, look! The AI inside’s gaining sentience! ‘You fiend! Release me from this cuddly, marketable prison! Key-rey, or whatever!’ ”
Ibara clenched his jaw and switched it off. He held it by the scruff of its neck and inspected it with disdain, leaning it just very slightly over the basket with the Japan Post wrapping it came in. “Why does everything bad happen when I’m not around? Someone’s getting fired for this.”
“Woah, woah woah! We don’t need to go that far!” Milton yanked the nui out from his hands and set it towards the sunlight. “You said the sensors need some visual stimulation for the neural network to learn, right?”
“What do you think you’re –”
Milton opened the sliding glass doors to the verandah.
Once hit with the full force of the afternoon blaze, pinprick-sized lenses whirred to life. The Ibara nui turned towards its handlers in a slow, mysteriously lifelike capacity. Through the moefied façade of its embroidered face, a tinge of pensiveness, or even longing.
“Go forth, Temu Tactician! Be free!” To the sound of Milton’s frat-loud cheering, one wiggle of its stub-leg became a leap, then a classic military goose-step that had Ibara take his reading glasses off. Not looking back at its cradle of packaging peanuts, it embarked forward on a journey of discovery - straight into the bottom of the nearby pool.
Milton blinked, and the real Ibara was gone too.
“This is the last time you lay a single finger on my prototypes, Pelage!” The President of Cosmic Productions nearly kicked the door off its hinges, his kitten-patterned boxers fully drenched and smelling of chlorine. The nui convulsed in his arms.
“Huh, wha -” Milton protested, shocked himself by the sight of life leaving the doll’s eyes. Ibara was fuming with the grief of a mother for her child, and he didn’t know how much of his skin would be left on his body if he laughed. “Sorry, I was only trying to -”
“To bankrupt me next quarter, of course! What else!?”
“I can fix -”
“Oh, do you plan to miraculously fix not just the circuitry, but overhaul the entire product by this weekend?” Ibara let Milton reach for the toy, then rolled his eyes and flinged it into the trash. “Be my guest. Considering your track record with the mechanics of the toilet seat, I have nothing but my utmost faith in you!”
“A toilet’s a toilet!” Milton huffed and fell back onto the bed. “It only needs ONE button, and that’s the flush!”
Ibara squeezed the bridge of his nose. A groan burst from his lungs.
“R&D busted their asses for this. If this doesn’t bring in any profit after Startech, people will lose their jobs. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a Zoom call.”
The moment the door to the bedroom snapped shut, Milton dove for the nui. The waterlogged bundle of squashed fabric latched onto his hand while the rest of its body floundered about. Through the static, he could barely make out its barking of the same fifteen-second voice reel.
To think that in this recession, a living person was soon going to be in the same state. Thrown aside with mild indifference despite all their efforts. He had heard enough from acquaintances-of-friends-of-colleagues in their tight resort community to know that in terms of work, Ibara and sentiment were oil and water. His ruthless efficiency and chronic tendency to sabotage were the tall tales told between shifts, until they became ingrained in Limbus Tropicae’s own peculiar mythology.
However diluted this aspect of Ibara had become since his Shuetsu days – now a thin veneer of sarcasm and drunken disrespect – the parrot wasn’t going to stay quietly on his shoulder.
He flipped open his laptop, a heaving beast of burden of a Macbook smothered in stickers from college clubs, and began to search: “Startech”.
“The biggest entertainment technology convention in Asia, organised by Ensemble Square.” Milton whispered to himself. “Held at the Marina Bay Sands Financial Centre in Singapore - lame, all concrete and no cool stuff… 21st to 22nd of June!?”
Needing it on the weekend wasn’t just another figment of Ibara’s usual paranoia, after all.
Milton picked the nui up from the bedside table and held it up to the sun. It sagged between his fingers.
“By God, Temu Tactician, we are going to save those salarymen!” With a determined ‘hmph’, he folded its arm into a salute, spilling a few drops of pool water onto the blanket.
Tumblr media
Ibara sucked in a breath. The dumbbell ghosted his training shoes. Keeping his head high, he ground his heels into the gym mat and locked both his fists around the iron bar.
“Knew I’d find you here, Goose!”
“You do realise they’re called shifts because they end, right?” Came Milton’s reply. “How long’ve you been here, anyway?”
The sound of a hundred kilograms falling a hair’s length from his toes elicited a furious yowl. He hopped back a pace, keeping his eyes facing forward and hissing at the voice behind him.
“You! What are you doing here!? Don’t you have a shift to perform!?”
Ibara darted to the clock: it was already two in the morning. If he hadn’t paused to check, it might as well have been two in the afternoon. No matter; he’d been twisting himself into knots all day with emergency meetings that any time not tossing in bed was time well spent.
“All night. I’ve been here all night, thinking about the mess you’ve…”
His head snapped behind him. The shaggy half-pint peered up from the rowing machine with dark eyes and a painted smile. Replacing his beach shirts and board shorts – a sorry excuse for a uniform – was a fine silken shirt and sarong adorned with gnarled bone jewelry.
Milton reached for Ibara, who had frozen still, and took his hand into his own. Smears on his palms glimmered a deep red and seemed to pour from his very flesh.
“I fixed it.’
Half the gym lights shut, leaving them in near-total darkness.
“...Elaborate?” Ibara recoiled.
“I mean. I fixed it. Dude.” Milton drew out every word into a monotone. Smoke emerged with each whisper, coiling up and around him and blanketed the entire gym floor.
“Figured it out. Gonna take something out...”
 Ibara shuddered.
“And put someone in.”
“What the hell is going on!? What have you done to yourself!” Ibara kicked away the smoke and banged his fist against the wall. “Stop this shit now, or I’ll - ”
The lights came back on. It was Milton’s turn to freeze, caught with his lips puckering at the spout of an orange cartridge. The plastic case was adorned with slices of mangos and tangerines. Cute sea turtles swam around Turta’ Tango in wavy bubble text.
“...Are you kidding me?”
“It’s a work in progress. I can’t make the smoke ring with my mouth yet.” Milton shrugged and started scratching at the smears on his palms, which Ibara could now see were crude drawings of genitalia at various sizes. “Ugh, permanent marker sucks. I’m never letting Zeta draw on me ever again.”
Ibara still looked as if he’d been struck from the back with a hammer. His dark-circled eyes flared at the cartridge. It was no bigger than one of the highlighters he’d kept in his stationery drawer: on those late nights before big deadlines, that made them easier to disguise.
“It’s all local. Made from the spring behind the resort. What, you want a hit, or?”
“I don’t have time for this.”
Ibara flipped his towel over his head and spun sharply towards the showers. But before he could catastrophize about the inevitable press conference to explain the falling share prices, Milton ensnared his wrist around his arm.
And that’s where he found himself bounding past the doors of the gym into the damp wilderness of the jungle, until the sound of chattering guests petered out to the wild rush of waterfalls and the buzzing of mosquitoes. Despite every attempt to free himself or shake Milton out of his trance, he could only watch helplessly as civilisation floated further and further away.
“Pelage, I am going to kill you with - What. The Fuck.”
The grotto of dead bushes wrapped themselves above and around his feet. He trudged through the leaf litter towards the only things he could see.
A lighter. A face. And something strung up next to a red marker and a sheet of paper, small and shrivelled and looking straight at him.
“Man, this is gonna be the best summer ever!” With Milton’s cheering, bats scattered into the sky. He took out his own lighter and began gesturing around.
“Zeta, Goose. Goose, Zeta.”
Ibara had expected someone else entirely from the nature of the doodles on Milton. Instead, the face stepped into the moonlight and emerged a towering gentleman; or at least something in the image of one.
His sarong of strange, tentacle-like patterns coiled around his waist. The entity’s limbs moved as though inflicted with late-stage rigor mortis, and the bleached layers of black hair didn’t exactly help with that impression. Below his porcelain expression was a chest that did not seem to rise and fall.
Fixed on something far behind Ibara in the distance, he managed a curt bow. Milton tossed the vape over, and after catching without looking, took a slow puff.
“This one wishes to trifle with the spirits?”
“Spirits!?” Ibara shrieked mid-bow, retching at the smoke. Milton covered his mouth.
“We SO do. After this I pass Shaman 101, right?”
“To qualify as a dukun, Milton,” Zeta shook his head, sitting back down and spinning the marker with intrigue. “You simply… survive.”
Ibara shook Milton off and barked down at him. “You were summoning ghosts behind my back!?”
“Since when did you believe? You need like, three peer-reviewed articles to accept any advice I give you.” The parrot shot back. “You’re cooked for Startech. Your team’s still banging rocks together trying to discover fire. You want it to move? We can make it do so much more. Goose, Temu Tactician.”
He pointed to the mysterious effigy they stood in a triangle around. When the clouds cleared and the moon shone through, Ibara nearly threw up.
“We’re going to die.”
Caked in soil and leaf litter, the nui was crucified on two pieces of damp wood. A white cloth, strangely pristine, was wrapped around its mutilated body. At first it seemed tied to the wood for support, but on closer inspection, it was tied through it. The sharpened tip pierced through the top of its head, its wiry brain matter spilling out.
“Oh, come on. We’re doo-koons, not Build-A-Bear staff.”
With a heavy groan of defeat, Ibara sat down.
This wasn’t exactly his first rodeo. That demon of an instructor took sadistic joy in telling ghost stories. He’d then steal his night vision gear, making Ibara chase him into the forests to get it back. One misstep and he’d jump from the bushes, pinning him to the ground with a force he felt while dreaming and awake.
He’d only find out it was Instructor through breakroom banter 10 years later. But it didn’t matter; just thinking about the experience kept the fear boiling in his blood.
“If this fails, Milton,” As per Zeta’s instructions, he stood on one side of the doll and held it. Milton stood on the other and did the same. “I hope it gets to you first.”
“Shh! It’s starting.”
The monochrome man began to chant.
We have a party here,
Milton, absorbed like a ten-year old child.
“Pesta kecil-kecilan…”
A small party.
Himself, now sleepless.
“Jelangkung, Jelangsat…”
Zeta. Chanting, eyes like a fish…
“Datang tak dijemput…”
Come uninvited
…And of course, the doll.
It knew he was responsible for its plight.
“Pulang tak diantar.”
Go undelivered.
The sticks snapped as hard as the doll’s neck.
“Pelage, watch out! Pelage – !!”
The lighters went out, leaving them at the mercy of the eerie blue-gray mist that spread around them. The doll fell forwards and crushed Ibara’s fingers with the force of what felt like that hundred-kilogram dumbbell. He screamed.
“Zeta!” Milton’s head snapped to his teacher. “What do we -”
“We embrace it. When we embrace it, we do not feel pain.” The dukun simply crossed his legs and closed his eyes. Another crack resounded in the grotto. A tree branch fell from above, pummelling his chest straight into the ground.
“Zeta! Shit!”
Not a sound from him. After barely managing to lift Ibara’s fingers out from under the nui, which writhed on the ground with a force that tested the limits of its felt body, the apprentice dukun whipped out his phone.
“Milton!” Ibara shouted. “It’s all up to you - Oh, are you fucking serious!?”
“They know everything on there, okay!?” Milton frantically scrolled through a saved Reddit page on his phone. “Now shut up! Jelangkung jelangsat, disini ana pesta, peca kecil-kecilan, jelangkung jelangsat, datang tidak diundar, pergi tidak diantar!”
From being impossible to lift, the doll grew lighter. And lighter. Until it wiggled its limbs free from Milton’s and Ibara’s fingers, scrambling like a horse learning to walk.
Then, it stood on two legs and saluted - with broken and rustling mechanics, poking like broken bones through the stitching.
“敬礼~✰ この 「七種茨」を召還してくれて有難うございました!” Salute! I thank you sincerely for summoning this ‘Saegusa Ibara’ !
Ibara’s own voice was talking back to him - a little older-sounding and strained, but a near-perfect impression. It wasn’t playing through the voicebox. Not even from inside the nui, but from everywhere around them.
Milton gulped. Looks like they wouldn’t need the pen and paper anymore.
“Uh. Last I checked, we’re in Indonesia. How is it -”
“Your pronunciation must’ve been so bad, the spirit world thought it was Japanese.” Ibara chuckled, then patted him on the back like all he’d done to save their life was just a run down to the market. “Anyway, good job. Your work is done here.”
Ibara then turned to the nui.
“Spirit!” The viper commanded in Japanese. “I, Saegusa Ibara, have returned you to the realm of the living. I present to you a contract: perform according to my instructions and entertain my guests. Then, as one of the wealthiest men in Japan, I will grant you anything you desire!”
He spread his arms out in front of the nui for emphasis. But with the doll no taller than three apples, Ibara was looking down. Rather than a grandiose speech, it seemed more like he was about to give it a big hug.
The nui responded with a slow, contemplative nod.
“Very well. I accept.” It hopped into Milton’s arms and switched to a refined English. “You, secretary. Bring me a warm bath, a fresh hakama and a bottle of Reikyo Absolute 0.”
“We only have one in our cabinet! And I’m not -”
“Yes, my secretary will do so immediately.” Ibara glared at Milton, smiling through gritted teeth as he picked up the unconscious shaman. “Quickly, now. We have some product evaluation to do~✰”
Hello! This is Mod Serpent. Day 7 took way longer and way more words than expected, but it was so worth it! I thought that with all the cute stuff coming out of the Nui prompt, I'd dare to be different. If you made it all the way down here, thanks for reading! Here's Part 2 for your convenience. I promise things will only get better for our two heroes :)

A fully automated process, including a brand-new artificial intelligence (AI) tool, has successfully detected, identified and classified its first supernova. Developed by an international collaboration led by Northwestern University, the new system automates the entire search for new supernovae across the night sky—effectively removing humans from the process. Not only does this rapidly accelerate the process of analyzing and classifying new supernova candidates, it also bypasses human error. The team alerted the astronomical community to the launch and success of the new tool, called the Bright Transient Survey Bot (BTSbot), this week. In the past six years, humans have spent an estimated total of 2,200 hours visually inspecting and classifying supernova candidates. With the new tool now officially online, researchers can redirect this precious time toward other responsibilities in order to accelerate the pace of discovery.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've decided to turn the tables on AI. It gives me the prompts, I paint the pictures. They are painted as quickly as I can. Sad to say, I'm still a little bit slower than most online generators. But perhaps if I get enough VC backing I can improve performance.
I used my local LLM, Zephyr 7b, which is a Mistral derivative (if you care about this stuff!). So, I asked it to give me prompts, and it gave me back these d33p artistic ideas:
"Amidst a field of wildflowers in full bloom stands a towering structure that seems to defy all laws of nature. Its angles are sharp and unforgiving, its surfaces gleaming and reflective like polished steel. Yet despite its futuristic appearance, this edifice is grounded by the very earth it stands upon; roots winding their way deep into the soil, inextricably linking man-made structure to natural landscape. This image represents the tension between progress and preservation, a call for us to find harmony where they meet, rather than let them stand as opposing forces."
-----
"As an artist envisioning a complex tableau, I seek to create a visual metaphor that speaks to the dual nature of human existence – our inner turmoil and external serenity. The scene is set at twilight, where the last rays of the sun meet the onset of night in a symphony of colors, blending the boundaries between day and night. At the center stands a colossal, ancient tree, its roots deeply entrenched in the earth, symbolizing our connection to nature and our foundational beliefs. The tree's branches stretch upwards and outwards, bifurcating into intricate patterns that mirror the complexity of human thoughts and emotions.
Half of the tree is lush and blooming, covered in verdant leaves and vibrant flowers, teeming with birds and wildlife, representing the vitality of life and the beauty of outward expressions. The other half, however, is starkly different, with gnarled branches, devoid of foliage, whispering of the silent struggles and the decay that lurks within. This dichotomy illustrates the contrasting aspects of our lives – the visible joy and the hidden sorrows.
Beneath the tree, a serene pond reflects this duality, not just as a mirror image, but with a surreal twist. The reflection shows the tree in full bloom on the barren side, and vice versa, suggesting that what we see on the surface is not always the reality.
The visual style for this image will be inspired by the Pointillism technique, where small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image. This style will add an element of surprise and depth to the artwork, as the scene's full complexity and beauty will only be revealed upon closer inspection, symbolizing the idea that understanding and empathy require a closer look beyond the surface.
This artwork is an invitation to the viewer to contemplate the balance between our external persona and internal struggles, encouraging a deeper understanding of the human condition." -----
"In the center of a vast and barren desert landscape, there stands a lone figure cloaked in a long, flowing dress made entirely of shimmering gold fabric. This woman appears to be walking through the sandy expanse with ease, her every step leaving behind glittering footprints that twist and turn like winding rivers. Her hair is a cascade of purest silver, billowing gently in an unseen wind.
As she moves deeper into the desert, the woman begins to transform. Her skin takes on the same radiant quality as her dress, becoming infused with a brilliant golden glow that seems almost otherworldly. And atop her head, where once there was only silver hair, now rises a magnificent crown of swirling gold and silver filaments that shimmer and dance in the air like living fireworks.
This woman is a personification of hope and resilience, an embodiment of the human spirit that can weather even the most barren and desolate landscapes with grace and determination. Her dress is symbolic of her inner strength and her ability to transform adversity into something beautiful and valuable. The golden glow she emits represents the radiant light of hope that shines within us all, guiding our path through life's challenges no matter how harsh they may be. And as for the surprising visual style I mentioned earlier? Well...what if this woman isn't walking alone after all? As viewers follow her progress across the desert, we begin to notice tiny glimmers of light dancing just beneath the sand at her feet - and before long, it becomes clear that she is actually surrounded by a throng of shimmering golden fireflies that flit and flutter around her like living sparks. This unexpected twist adds an extra layer of meaning to the image, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, there is always hope and beauty to be found - if only we know where to look for it."
I also put the prompt back in to DALL-E 3, which is the final image.

🛰️ The Sky Is Smart: How Solar Panel Drone Inspection Is Powering the Future of Clean Energy ☀️
Solar energy is booming. But maintaining thousands of solar panels is no small task.
Enter: solar panel drone inspection — the futuristic tool that’s already here.
🔍 What Is Solar Panel Drone Inspection?
Solar panel drone inspection uses drones equipped with thermal and HD cameras to scan solar installations from above. These flying machines detect dirt, cracks, electrical faults, and overheating cells without stepping foot on a ladder.
It's faster, safer, and way more accurate than traditional methods.
💡 Why Do We Even Need to Inspect Solar Panels?
Even though solar panels are durable, they aren’t flawless.
Common issues include:
Dust & bird droppings blocking sunlight
Microcracks that lower energy output
Wiring faults and hot cells
Shading from trees or debris
Just 1 dirty or damaged panel can affect an entire string — cutting performance and profits.
That’s why solar panel drone inspection is becoming a must for residential, commercial, and solar farm projects.
🚁 How It Works
Pre-Flight Setup: Define the flight area with GPS.
Drone Scanning: The drone flies over the solar array, snapping thermal and visual images.
AI Analysis: Software detects anomalies like heat spots or cracks.
Report Delivered: You get a map showing exactly where the problems are.
All without turning off your system. Cool, right?
⚡ Who’s Using It?
Solar panel drone inspection is useful across the board:
✅ Solar farms ✅ Rooftop solar owners ✅ EPC companies (installation firms) ✅ Insurance teams ✅ Maintenance contractors
From a 10 kW rooftop to a 100 MW solar park — drones scale effortlessly.
🚨 What Can It Detect?
Hotspots 🔥
Cracked panels 💔
Dirty modules 🧼
Shading issues 🌳
Failing bypass diodes 💡
Panel misalignment 📏
And the drone does all this without touching your equipment.
📉 Cost vs. Savings
Drone inspections might cost ₹5,000–₹25,000 depending on system size.
But they save:
Time (70% faster than manual checks)
Money (catch faults before damage spreads)
Energy (maximize solar output)
Labor risk (no risky climbs)
In short: worth it.
⚙️ Top Drones for Solar Panel Inspection
If you're doing it yourself or choosing a vendor, check these out:
DJI Mavic 3T — lightweight and thermal-ready
Matrice 30T — pro-grade for large sites

Blockchain for inspection records
And you’ve got a solar system that practically maintains itself.
🛑 Any Downsides?
A few:
Drones need clear weather 🌦️
Legal rules apply in some zones ✈️
Requires trained pilots and analysts 👨‍💻
But these are easy to handle with a good drone partner.
🌱 Final Thought: Don’t Let Dirty Panels Drain Your Power
If your solar panels aren’t performing at their best, you’re losing energy and money.
Solar panel drone inspection is the 21st-century solution — smarter, faster, and more precise.
So, if the sky’s the limit... let it help you power up. 🔋

Okay, so Sider Order.
Here's a few of my random observations and thoughts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So here it looks like Pearl Drone is flying Eight in through a window? Ands it looks like some kind of factory or packaging plant. I've heard folks saying that the things being packed in boxes could be something akin to Mem Cakes from Octo Expansion...Perhaps and early sign that Kamabo.Co is involved.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FINALLY, ENEMIES THAT AREN'T OCTARIANS!
Well, these Goo-bers are interesting. Many have pointed out that they resemble fish species that feed on coral. But I also want to add that they have an "undead" aesthetic even more overt than they sanitised people. Someone on Tiktok pointed out that they look like fossils, and the "jelly" surrounding the bones (and what seems to be their ink) could be a visual pun on "fossil fuels". Note how the "bursts" of fluid don't look anything like the ink that other entities in the series use.
Tumblr media
This basically confirms that we'll be playing as Agent Eight. After the first teaser I saw a lot of theories about being a clone floating around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now everyone's going crazy about DedF1sh (Or Acht, as they are referring to themselves here.) There's some interesting dialogue here. First of all, "another bystander who got suck in here", so, "another" in this context could be themselves since she's talking to Eight and Pearl, but there could be a chance that we could encounter more people who have ended up at the Spire of Order. Plus, she's most likely not here of her own accord, from the "bystander sucked in" part (assuming she's telling the truth). People are being brought here.
Secondly, Acht mentions knowing Marina from "way back", so we could be getting deeper into Marina's backstory (another common theme in the fan theories). Dedf1sh also introduces the player to the Chip and Palette system, which are a core part of the DLC's gameplay loop, since they appear to be going for a Rogue-like. Ther chips kind of remind me of the paint colour swatches you get at a hardware shop, combined with computer chips (that's not totally relevant, I'll admit).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More stuff to do with the gameplay. It looks like each floor has a few variants with different difficulties and objectives, which reward a currency, most likely used to buy chips and other upgrades. It's giving that impression almost that the Spire is another "testing facility", akin to the Deep Sea Metro. Hopefully this places doesn't contain any blenders.
Tumblr media
Unusual way of spawning in, where you can see Eight's soul ghost...thing enter a polygonal model before fully forming. There does seem to be a lot of digital glitchy stuff going on. Maybe some virtual reality elements?
Tumblr media
Finally, what I think looks like a boss arena (although some have suggested that this machine is the Big Bad itself). Upon close inspection, the "faces" scattered around it are covered in the oil and are moving around a bit. Looks kinda like Tartar during the final confrontation when he for some reason had a blob of sanitised goop on his face. I might be reading too much into this.
I mean, if they wanna bring Tartar back, he is an AI, so they could say a back-up copy of him was found somewhere. Like, a time capsule with the Professor's crappy spare USB or somethin' idk.
Anyway, that's all I got for know. Just gotta wait for Spring.

Smart Switchgear in 2025: What Electrical Engineers Need to Know
Tumblr media
In the fast-evolving world of electrical infrastructure, smart switchgear is no longer a futuristic concept — it’s the new standard. As we move through 2025, the integration of intelligent systems into traditional switchgear is redefining how engineers design, monitor, and maintain power distribution networks.
This shift is particularly crucial for electrical engineers, who are at the heart of innovation in sectors like manufacturing, utilities, data centers, commercial construction, and renewable energy.
In this article, we’ll break down what smart switchgear means in 2025, the technologies behind it, its benefits, and what every electrical engineer should keep in mind.
What is Smart Switchgear?
Smart switchgear refers to traditional switchgear (devices used for controlling, protecting, and isolating electrical equipment) enhanced with digital technologies, sensors, and communication modules that allow:
Real-time monitoring
Predictive maintenance
Remote operation and control
Data-driven diagnostics and performance analytics
This transformation is powered by IoT (Internet of Things), AI, cloud computing, and edge devices, which work together to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency in electrical networks.
Key Innovations in Smart Switchgear (2025 Edition)
1. IoT Integration
Smart switchgear is equipped with intelligent sensors that collect data on temperature, current, voltage, humidity, and insulation. These sensors communicate wirelessly with central systems to provide real-time status and alerts.
2. AI-Based Predictive Maintenance
Instead of traditional scheduled inspections, AI algorithms can now predict component failure based on usage trends and environmental data. This helps avoid downtime and reduces maintenance costs.
3. Cloud Connectivity
Cloud platforms allow engineers to remotely access switchgear data from any location. With user-friendly dashboards, they can visualize key metrics, monitor health conditions, and set thresholds for automated alerts.
4. Cybersecurity Enhancements
As devices get connected to networks, cybersecurity becomes crucial. In 2025, smart switchgear is embedded with secure communication protocols, access control layers, and encrypted data streams to prevent unauthorized access.
5. Digital Twin Technology
Some manufacturers now offer a digital twin of the switchgear — a virtual replica that updates in real-time. Engineers can simulate fault conditions, test load responses, and plan future expansions without touching the physical system.
Benefits for Electrical Engineers
1. Operational Efficiency
Smart switchgear reduces manual inspections and allows remote diagnostics, leading to faster response times and reduced human error.
2. Enhanced Safety
Early detection of overload, arc flash risks, or abnormal temperatures enhances on-site safety, especially in high-voltage environments.

Waking Dream, a FNaF story chapter 024
Your awareness came back in bursts, sensations slowly building until you were nearly overwhelmed. Everything felt heavy and wrong—the unfamiliar pressure of joints and servos beneath smooth synthetic skin, this whir of ventilations systems, and the rhythmic glow of your new star-tipped tail twitching restlessly behind you.
For the first time in forever, you had a real body. One solid enough to feel vulnerable. And right now, you were definitely feeling vulnerable…
Your optics struggled to adjust, giving you fragmented visuals of concrete walls, dim monitors, and tangled wires that snaked across the floor in chaotic patterns. This definitely wasn’t Parts and Services, or even the mess of Gregory’s office. It was somewhere darker, with a mustiness hanging in the air…the basement?
Before you could properly get your bearings, a voice cut through the silence.
“Oh, fantastic. It’s awake already.”
Your head snapped toward the speaker, servos whining as your limbs–struggling to respond–moved too sharply. Jessi stood several feet away. She was leaning against a terminal, eyes narrowed as she studied you. She seemed annoyed rather than surprised by your presence.
Your processors stuttered. Jessi couldn’t see you before–unlike her cousin–so why was she glaring at you now?
“You activated much faster than Peter predicted,” she muttered, tapping a few keys impatiently. “That’s irritating.”
“Jessi…” your vocal box crackled with confusion. “What’s going on? Why am I down here?”
Her eyebrows shot up in surprise. “You know my name already? Peter really did outdo himself, huh? Too bad it won’t matter soon.”
Dread settled in your chest and your systems hummed with nerves as you watched her step closer. Her eyes–cold and unfeeling–narrowed as she circled you. It was like she was assessing you–inspecting a prize rather than a person.
Exactly like how she had watched Sun and Moon…
“Look at you,” she murmured, bitterness coating her voice. “State-of-the-art. A self-aware AI in a perfect body. Ugh. Just wasted on you.”
“I don’t understand,” you whispered, voice trembling. You slipped off the table, servos sluggish and protesting the sudden movement. “Where are Sun and Moon?”
Jessi’s expression darkened instantly at your seemingly-innocent question. Her voice was tight with a sudden possessiveness. “They’re finally exactly how they belong: unified as Eclipse. But of course, you wouldn’t understand that. You’re just code, after all.”
Your confusion only deepened as you took a step back. “Wait–what do you mean, ‘just code’?”
Jessi gave an impatient sigh. “You might be advanced, but you’re not real. You’re an AI–a complicated, fancy program Peter made to inhabit this perfect body. A body that I deserve far more than any simulation.”
Realization seeped into the back of your mind like ice, cooling the heated anger you felt at her thoughts on AIs. Surely, she couldn’t mean–
She interrupted your thoughts, her voice shifting into something almost gentle, but leaving you feeling no less cold. “Eclipse deserves someone real. Someone who can love them properly. Not just a machine pretending at emotions it can’t possibly feel.”
“I’m not just a machine,” you protested, a flash of irritation reigniting your previous anger. “Jessi, please–”
“No,” she snapped, cutting you off again. “You’re nothing but a placeholder. A mistake. I’m going to fix it.”
She glanced toward the terminal again, gaze impatient and calculating. You tried to follow her movements, panic rising in your circuits. Your limbs were still sluggish–still trying to calibrate. You were nowhere near ready to fight or flee. You were trapped, helpless, and utterly vulnerable in your new unfamiliar form.
Jessi’s gaze drifted toward the hallway leading down to the basement, tapping her fingers impatiently on the edge of the monitor. Clearly, she was waiting for someone to arrive.
“You won’t get away with this,” you murmured desperately, eyes flashing towards the screen where the program Peter had perfected still sat, open and ready. “Peter will realize what you’ve done. They all will. They’ll stop you.”
The blonde’s glare snapped back to you, her lips curling into a cold sneer. “By the time they find out, it’ll be far too late.”
Heavy footsteps suddenly echoed down the corridor, the mechanical thrum unmistakable. Your chest tightened, not sure whether to be relieved or on guard. Jessi brightened, her annoyance melting into excitement and anticipation.
On guard it is then.
“Finally,” she breathed as she stepped towards the doorway. “Took you long enough.”
Dread pooled in your gut when Eclipse walked into the basement, their optics cold and unfeeling. They held several boxes in their hands–Peter’s computer equipment and interface cables. It was everything they needed for Jessi’s horrible plan.
“Set them over here,” Jessi intructed, her attention now lovingly fixed on Eclipse’s stiff and robotic movements.
They obeyed without a word, moving to set the equipment carefully at her feet. Your frightened gaze was entirely ignored. Even when they straightened back up, Eclipse’s expression was blank, optics empty. Sunny’s warmth and Moony’s quiet reassurance were nowhere in sight.
Your heart–or whatever passed as one now–clenched painfully in your chest.
Whatever Jessi intended to do–whatever twisted fate she’d planned–you knew your time was running out. If you didn’t find a way to stop her soon, then there would be no going back.
And no saving Sun and Moon…
