Something something happy pride month

Since I’m drawing Jamil and Kalim to like every romance song in existence, of course I had to draw them to mr. Lovernan; its only natural! And this song fits them so well too… the ways that Kalim talks to Jamil are so sickenly sweet and loving, they make Jamil wish he was gone. I think it’s so perfect to have that one voiceline where Kalim says Jamil’s name, but not with his usual trust or love or kindness, but rather with disbelief, fear, and confusion. That way the song can have a double meaning for them! Kalim’s sweet words make Jamil sick, but when Jamil’s plans fell apart and Kalim called out for him, confused and refusing to believe that his closest companion would betray him, it still makes Jamil’s stomach churn. I bet that sometimes Jamil wishes Kalim could just shut up.

But Jamil still cares about Kalim, still remembers when they were friends. Their relationship is complex, and though he hates it, I think he still does love and care deeply about Kalim, but all those feelings are just in a very weird and difficult place. I absolutely adore that double meaning! The ways in which Kalim talks to Jamil makes Jamil feel a lot of things, negative, positive, and he hates it. But “wishing i were gone” and “running on and on” can apply to both his negative feelings of desperation, hatred, loathing and disgust, and also those feelings that deep inside make him wish their situations were different, that things didn’t end up like this. Jamil lies a lot, also to himself, and all his feelings are so tangled and stuck (dude is super emotionally constipated and needs therapy fr). I LOVE the character development Jamil and Kalim got in book 6 and 7, because they’re slowly making their way towards building a healthier, mutual relationship, and I’m so happy for them! I will be eagerly awaiting the day their relationship is fixed, and they’re happy with themselves, eachother, and life

Drawing has been really difficult again; im busy with school and I can’t get myself motivated to draw. Social Media has also been bumming me out. I’m really sensitive, and there’s been a lot of negativity on my fyps and timelines, which has just killed my mood. Good news also though- the twst anime finally got a release date??! I have been waiting for this for YEARS, and I can’t wait to see our boys animated and for the fandom to grow and for new merch! So, I have this old sketchbook thats been haunting me, cuz I never finished it... so obviousy I decided to go turbo and try to finish it in like a week or sum.

The reason why I abandoned the sketchbook? Its too nice. Majority of my traditional drawings are doodles and quick comics or character designs. Concepts, really. But drawing those in this super huge nice sketchbook made me feel guilty. So now I'm finishing it with full-page artworks on every page XD I was desperate for Ideas soooo.... FANART TIME!!!

Honestly wanna know how i draw tmnt so well? DRAGONS! xD

I explained this to a friend yesterday so i can word dump a bit here:

Ive drawn dragons in tons of weird angles/perspectives… a good 2+ years worth spent just practicing drawing drakes and dragons and creatures, and going a little crazy with challenging myself to get experience over a large range of draconic things!

SO, when i started drawing tmnt i was like... "these guys are basically a dragon, but with a shell and WAY LESS DETAIL", and i really mean WAY. LESS. DETAIL, like holy crap i never actually realized how complex dragons were until i drew a turtle and asked myself why i chose one of the most insanely complex things to draw my whole entire life. They have so many limbs, unique anatomy unlike anything IRL, i had to study cats and dogs and horses and birds and then combine that to make up something totally new just to draw ONE dragon because each one has unique anatomy 😭 when i draw dragon shoulders i get so much ptsd from that learning curve /j

Ive studied complex dragon anatomy so much that when i took a look at humanoid shoulders and drew them, they were scarily easy to draw compared to a dragons shoulders. Same goes for legs.

But oohhHHH HANDS, no ones brought it up but i love rambling about how fun it is to draw hands. You can probably tell really quick that i went with dragon-inspired hands for the tmnt, i love giving em claws >:) I draw my dragon feet like theyre just hands used for walking, and ive drawn ALLOT of them. Taking away a few fingers and giving them to a turtle was really simple C: (although i should probably try out drawing them without claws, im kinda curious if i can)

Human arms are a little harder to learn how to draw, but still incredibly similar and it hasnt been too hard to adjust to the subtle differences i need to change when i draw them.

⬆️ Im still working on drawing humanoid arms, the muscles and perspective for humanoid arms are different from what im used to so im still in the middle of that learning curve.

I actually havent been drawing tmnt long, i posted my first fanart Feb 19 this year 👀 and id never drawn a turtle before then.

Your gonna be watching in real-time as my artstyle/experience grows as i keep drawing them, but i am DEFINITELY still practicing and learning! Im hoping when i finally settle with a quality of art im happy with and ive had enough experience to feel confident enough, i really want to make tutorials for how i draw so i can share my knowledge with others <3

Short version: I've been drawing since I was a little kid, but when I discovered anime at 12 was when I realized I wanted to draw more seriously and put more effort into doing so, so I drew a lot all the time (still didn't properly do studies or anything because I draw for the fun of it.) And when I started posting fanart online in 2022 I think my style started getting better and better until I shaped the style I have today, which makes me very happy!💖

Long answer:

I have to say technically I've been drawing since I was like 5 years old, but like the typical doodles of little kids about the movies and cartoons I liked, not much thought into that.

I particularly loved fairies and mermaids a lot so that's what I was drawing for a long time. Until I discovered anime at 12, which made me rethink my art into something a little bit more serious (although I had no idea what I was doing lol).

These are some of the many many drawings I have from when I started, I was like a machine, drawing all the time, I used to get in trouble a lot with my teachers because I didn't stop drawing even during their classes (⁠^⁠～⁠^⁠;⁠)⁠ゞ

But I just kept continuing to do so, purely out of wanting to put into paper what characters or stories I could imagine, for fun more than anything! I have tons of notebooks and folders with papers full of doodles and sketches, because drawing was fun, it made me happy and it's the mindset I try to keep nowadays too✌️

There have been long periods of time in which I couldn't draw anything for months, I have been dissatisfied with my art for a long time too, but I think I'm finally comfortable and happy with an art style that I can call mine today. Posting fanart online made wonders for me because I got inspired and learned from so many people in many places, and cookie run has helped me a lot lately to get out of a very bad artblock.

As a skill it took me a long time, with ups and downs from learning fast to learning nothing, drawing a lot and not drawing for almost a year. Don't draw during classes tho, that got me written up a lot and in many embarrassing situations, I was just too stubborn to listen (⁠-_-⁠;⁠)

i have a question. so you have ur actual story for Liam and all of that, thats the canon obviously. But there is also the larger fanon of him that is like, the most prevalent of his presence in the fandom, which is Cody. Ive seen in ur server so far that theres.......not a lot of love for AUs and fan remakes of characters, so when it comes to Cody, do u care if ppl are still using their designs for him from the fanon version, as long as they are not trying to place onto Liam specifically? Cuz ive seen a few ppl who use their fan designs of him still and i was just genuinely curious about ur stance on this and i havent seen any discussion of it in depth on here so far, apologies if uve answered this kind of question before, im semi-new.

It's a pretty long question and it's fine! I'll try to answer it the same way.

My server is pretty new, it's been a long time since I was open with people on a public server, it's been 4 years since I was on a public server. Basically a lot of people question a lot of things like "why didn't you do this?" "why didn't you talk before", honestly I lived my life without knowing that my character was building a pretty big community, I only received questions about the character three or four times a year since I created Xvirus, everything exploded when it went viral during the pandemic. (I hadn't realized this fact until a few days ago haha) at that time I didn't know what was happening, it was a shower of people in my DM's from all my accounts, especially Twitter and DeviantArt. When I finally realized what was happening, even when looking for fanarts I didn't expect all that support for the character.

Honestly Fanon or Canon, I only saw not only as a creator but as a "father" of my creation, my character being loved, that never happened to me before and until now I don't realize this much because it's difficult for me to understand the displays of affection, it just makes me cry. It's the most honest thing I can answer. I know perfectly well that many people will not agree with the remake or are disappointed to find out that xvirus is not Toby's brother, that they hate the redesign or that he has long hair. Both designs are canon only in different times of Xvirus's history, one at 17 and the other at 29.

I am aware that I will never please those who have a formed vision of the character, but it doesn't bother me either because in the end it's a fandom and there are always new versions and new ways of seeing him. I'm having a lot of fun drawing and thinking about this right now, but it's also an internal war I've been fighting for years. Being able to visualize it makes me feel like it's worth it to keep trying.

To all this I can only say thank you doesn't matter if you hate it or love it… I know that if you don't like it it's because you love him and care. That makes me happy I can only say that I am having the happiest moment after so much struggle, thanks to everyone <3

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thank you everyone for being so kind and supportive and actually liking my weird little corner on the internet featuring my Twisted Wonderland yapping and hyperfixiations. I have been more creative this year than I have in a LONG time. Seriously, alone I WROTE more in the past 2-3 months than I have I. The past 2-3 years and I forgot how much I enjoy it. Art has been a healing process for me since I chronically feel I suck at it but I do enjoy it and I have been enjoying making fanart. It’s crazy how both fanart and fanfiction has been helping immensely with my creative output but I guess for years I was trapped by the toxic mindset that original art and writing would make me “greater” of an artist/writer. Which I knew was a lie but I didn’t want to be judged by those around me…I let my confidence slip because of fear of indulging in what I like but not anymore. I’m cringe and I’m a free bitch baby 😎

One thing I learned this year is that…fuck it. Do what makes you happy. Even if other people think it’s cringe or childish or even “easier”…like dude I should have realized how my creativity has always peaked in fandom and that’s not a bad thing. It’s my roots. My most creative ideas and stories come from fandom and there’s nothing fucking wrong with that. It’s been so good for me to fully dive into storytelling again. To feel honest passion for my own creations. To look forward to sharing these with others who are just as excited! Im thankful for everyone who follows me!! Even just your presence gives me reason to draw, write, and share my bullshit. 🥹🩵

9. What’s something you always come back to when drawing?

I’ve noticed recently that no matter what kind of style I’m using at this moment - at some point I will always come back to sharp, black-shaded, cartoonish arts. It’s just something that makes my brain happy, seeing all the shapes and strong lineart and dark shadows, not worrying too much about gradients or brush strokes :D

14. What’s your favorite thing about drawing?

Oh, there are plenty of things that I love about drawing! Like the ability to express your emotions! Your feelings! Your experiences, preferences, your desires, dreams, nightmares, daily life - heck, even a fanart shows the love of your favorite show! I won’t count how many times I could relate to someone’s art because they were able to show something that I personally felt/experienced! The power of arrrrrrrrrt!

Second favorite thing - definitely the journey of drawing! Of course we all want to get to the final destination called “finished art” - but we are sometimes completely missing the whole fun of the journey! How we were able to put down the idea, how we had fun drawing one part, how we struggled with something and finally were able to defeat that obsticle, how we discovered new techniques or experimented with something we never tried. How we were able to discover a magic “swith” in the brain after hundreds of practicing or how someone showed us how to draw something. This is really fun and I love it!

19. Where do you find inspiration?

Half of the inspiration I get from comics and cartoons. Someone said that comic artists shouldn’t care too much about arts in ther comics because reader will read it fast anyway - well, I’m the weirdo who loves looking at the panels, seeing how someone expressed part of the plot with this and that technique, what kind of font was used…. Also ngl, 99% of my arts are fanarts, altough recently I’ve been working on more original pieces.

And second half of inspiration…. Well, it will sound unoriginal, but from life :D. From experiencing specific moments and feelings in my life, I analyse it later and try to sketch it somewhere to not lose it somewhere. There are some comics I’d like to draw, finger crossed I’ll be able to do it!

30. What’s something you’re proud of about your artstyle?

That’s always a tricky question, because it means you have to analyse something that’s basically you, haha :D.

I think I’m proud the most of my “doodle style”. My friends know me from drawing very quick, very simple and very comical and expressive doodles from random ideas we have on the chat. It’s not something easy to achieve - that quick moment of getting an idea how to make something funnier - and I’ve been practicing for YEARS, both technical and comical sides of my artstyle. Now I’m feeling pretty proud of it, it’s like my signature move I can always show off to others ahahaha :D. Again, not something easy to achieve, took me years of practice.

Also I guess I’m pretty flexible about artstyle? Im not a master, of course, but I remember that there were plenty of times when I had to “mimick” someone’s style, either for personal use or for the projects. I don’t have big problem with that, although ofc the original is the best :D But it’s very useful in group projects!

uuu its probably the forgotten lyre i worked so hard and so long on that fic and im very happy with the final result !! honorable mention to every season is full of memories of you with me, it was very very fun writing that one and i consider it one of my best ritsumao fics, i really peaked there

But now, Mao realized it was something Ritsu may have been waiting for. Something he may have wanted all along. Something he was expecting of his relationship with Mao. And that sudden realization was threatening to break everything between them in a single moment. Even if Ritsu had had his feelings for Mao clear for many years already, it took Mao longer than it should have to understand the true meaning behind his constant ‘I love you’s, and even more time to realize his own feelings towards his childhood friend. It had taken long, so long, but Mao finally, finally understood. He now knew what he wanted and what Ritsu wanted, and they started their relationship, in which honestly not much changed besides the name of it. But just knowing it already changed a lot of things, and Mao thought it was good, and he was happy thinking they were already at the point they both wanted. Except, it appeared that wasn’t the case. And it hurt. It hurt a lot.

man this one is hard..... not exactly the answer but i think what he enjoys the most is watching maos favorite shows together with him. i can see them watching hxh together (maos favorite anime i just know it) and i think ritsu would quite enjoy it too, especially the darker arcs like caa or yorknew <3

Uh, anyways… I really wanted to draw some fanart this weekend but I’ve currently misplaced my stylus and I’ve conditioned myself and my art style to the point where I physically cannot draw digitally without it. Well, the misplaced part is incorrect, I know exactly where it is but I’m spending the weekend at my mom’s house and I don’t feel like driving all the way back to get it.

Oh oh! as I’ve said before in dms, I cut and dyed my hair by myself! I can’t stop talking about it because I can finally look at myself in the mirror without cringing. And a professional hair stylist even said i did a great job so heh. >:]

Also, about the whole drawing dilemma i’m in, I’ve just decided to go back to the beginning and reteach myself how to draw on paper. With Fnaf characters, of course, and im suspiciously good at drawing animals. I’ll either post the drawings later or dm them to y’all, after I get the energy to find them in my huge purple folder. (No joke, there is at least two hundred pieces of paper in there. It’s very heavy.)

Bees are funky creatures, so I understand the fascination with them.

Also, I'm like, just barely scraping the surface of cat colour genetics (mainly because there are many sources, and some say completely different things at times), but like there's the black colour gene for a cat's fur. If it is hit with the dilute gene, then the black colour becomes blue (grey). Black and blue are basically the same thing, just one of them has an extra modyfier, so a cat can't be black AND blue at the same time. Same with the red colour (orange) and its diluted version, cream. So a red and cream or a black and blue coloured cat is quite impossible, without some form of genetic tomfoolery, like two embryos fusing together in the womb.

But of course the only sure way to tell if a cat really is a chimera is through DNA testing, but if kitty has impossible colour combinations, there might be a chance kitty was originally two kitties. Also having two differently coloured eyes, or their face having two different colours split in the middle, like those striking orange and black faced fur babies isn't a 100% sign that they're a chimera cat.

i wanted to give slight commentary instead of just 12 random pngs so here you go

tuesday 3rd january - blah blah blah!

this was meant to be the first frame of an animation. then flipaclip decided not to work. anyway theres a lot of incomplete stuff from this year and this is (sort of) one of them. idk how to explain why theres 4 of me and what's going on, it makes sense (sort of) if you read the thing its based on.

monday 20th february - waluigi doodle page

i literally cannot stress enough this is the only thing i can be certain was definitely drawn in february. i would have picked a different thing otherwise, i swear. i was on a gc late at night asking who i should draw with waluigi and they gave me yoshi koopas and birdette. istg.

tuesday 21st march - tails and tbh (discord pfp)

FINALLY!!! SOMETHING ACTUALLY GOOD FOR COMPARING!!!

its funny how on one hand i dont draw tails like that AT ALL anymore, but at the same time, literally all my headcanons are there, like his fangs coming out when hes really happy, his fluffy ears, etc. the onky thing missing really is drawing fluffy arms and legs lol. as for the rest of the drawing, i think its ok. theres a few errors, particularly with the stroke, and i needed to fix the fill bucket around tbh's eyes, but this is nearly a year old now so im not fixing it. sorry.

friday 21st april - gently holding tails

ah, tails plushie, how i love thee. where the hell are you girl i havent seen you in months. i have waluigi now. i miss you :(

tuesday 9th may - waluigi sketch with alcohol markers

i hate alcohol markers. they dry too quickly. so it surprised me when one day, while forcing myself to like them, i drew something i actually liked. i still love this btw!!! this is the basis for how i currently draw waluigi rn, and my art as a whole!!!

also fun fact: i drew this the day before i started reading sonic idw :)

saturday 24th june - transmasc luigi watercolour stuff

once again, weird mario fanart i made while talking to a friend late at night. the initial shirtless luigi was drawn as a joke because of a really quick shirtless waluigi my friend drew at summer school in 2022 as a joke, which is what the weird one who craves death is based on. weird as this art may be, this was such a happy time in the year for me and i miss it greatly :)

ill have to do july - december in a follow up post because i reached the image limit lol
