Hey everyone, unfortunately our wonderful translator elrohir's account has been terminated without notice and we are currently unsure why this has happened or if it will be able to be back up in time for the short story on Wednesday. I have offered to post in her place if the account isn't brought back, so if you see this and post/rb no.6 things please try to spread the word so everyone can get the story as soon as possible! If you have any questions for el about chapters that have already been posted, feel free to add them to comments on the WordPress blog itself or email at [email protected] until we can get this figured out, and I will try to keep everyone updated on the situation!

Can you talk more about aromanticism in Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep :o But yeah as someone who read the book before watching the movie, I thought it was weird they didn't include how animals were super important in the world as a sign of empathy and showing empathy was a status symbol.
Yes, I would love to talk more about this! I have a bunch of incomplete thoughts rattling around in my brain about Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, including about the interesting parts of the book that were cut, like Mercerism, the importance of animals, the empathy boxes, the emotion dialing machines, the spider scene, the other police department, the use and non-use of the empathy test, the fact that multiple androids can share the same face, and the narrative/story treatment of Rachel. I'd like to organize and share my thoughts with other people, but first: I need to watch Blade Runner 2049 because I've heard it's got things for me to analyze, compare, and contrast with the original film and the novel; then I need to decide how many versions of the original film I need to watch and analyze (so far I've only seen The Final Cut, which seems to be the version most people like and recommend, but I think that having Deckard narrate sections could change the worldbuilding and potentially add roboticism that I felt was lacking in The Final Cut); then I probably need to spend some time piecing my ideas together into something coherent that other people can read and understand, but then I'd love to publish my thoughts (probably as an essay on Wordpress, though maybe something a bit more informal) and let people read it and have a conversation about it.
How long will that take? I don't really know. My Frozen essay took four months; DADoES + BR + BR 2049 might take longer because there's more material to analyze. But by asking for my thoughts, you've somehow given me the motivation and inspiration to actually write something about this. (So, thank you for that :).) I'd also like to try to share some of my progress, thoughts, realizations, and questions as they happen on Tumblr, because I'm interested in doing media analysis with other people (and because that might reduce the risk of me losing motivation while working on this), so I may end up rebranding my blog a bit at some point.
Here are some other media analysis/writing things that I'd like to do some day. It turns out that other people asking what my thoughts are on a thing is a really good motivator for me to write down what my thoughts are on a thing, so if anyone wants to encourage me to write an essay or blog post about any parts of any of the following topics, feel free to send me an ask:
Wicked (the musical). One angle I'd like to explore is looking at the musical through an aromantic lens, and reading Elphaba as alloaro/alloaro-aligned. I might broaden the scope to look at other Wizard-of-Oz media, and maybe also aro-aligned villains and aro-aligned anti-heros in media, but maybe that would be better served as a series of essays/blog posts and not an essay so long it should be a book. There's also so much musical/motivic analysis I need to do of Wicked, it has so much depth and I still find more things when I relisten to the music.
The portrayal of robots in fiction. One angle I'd like to explore is, "why are robots and aromanticism linked?" And I'm not happy with the shallow answer of "robots don't have emotions and people think aromantic means you don't have emotions"; I want to actually know "why are robots and aromanticism linked? How did the portrayal of robots evolve for there to be a link? Was that inevitable, or could robots have turned out differently so that they weren't liked to aromanticism? What does the linking of robots and aromanticism say about society and fictional depictions of humanity and lack thereof?" I also need to rewatch and actually finish Battlestar Galactica, though I think that might be more interesting through an ace lens than an aro lens.
Isaac Asimov's fiction and related works. I've been reading a lot of his fiction in publishing order in part because of my interest in the origin of robots and aromanticism, but there's definitely interesting things to be said about his novels and short stories, and also the Foundation TV series, such as how they treat love. (I also want an excuse to rewatch all the episodes just to answer nerdy music theory questions about Demerzel and does she have two musical motifs and why is one very legato and lilting and the other is staccato and halting and is that representing an inner struggle between her humanity and her roboticism?)
An analysis of @kernsing's aromantic sonnet #1 (this is still on my todo list, I got busy but didn't forget, but I have Things to say and I want to Find even More Things to say about this poem)
"Why Beauty and the Beast (1991) is fundamentally arophobic and can't be fixed." Okay, I haven't thought about this in a while so it's possible my perspective has changed and I'll find a way that the story could be changed to not be arophobic, but I know that the conclusion I came to a while ago was that the story structure itself was fundamentally problematic and that changing it enough to make it no longer be arophobic would require changing the story structure so much that it would be a fundamentally different story. This would not exactly be a fun essay to read or write, because I can't imagine many people enjoy someone digging into why a movie so many people love is arophobic to its core, but I'd still like to do it, some day.
Is "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" a distant relative of "Beauty and the Beast"? (I mean the story structure, not genetics/family trees.)
An analysis of Walt Disney Animation Studios films over the years. After my Frozen essay I spent like a month watching almost every Walt Disney Animation Studios film and tracking how the films treated a bunch of different aspects (e.g. sex, romance, marriage, third wheel, kissing, jealousy, love, true love, meet-cutes, queerness, gender, sexism, transmisogyny, homophobia, multiple concrete aspects of amatonormativity, queercoding). But I never really tabulated or aggregated my notes.
The discarded best friend trope (this is an arophobic trope I noticed and came up with a name for), and some examples and subversions of it.
Why does High School Musical (and HSM 2 and HSM 3) lack romantic love songs despite being a loose retelling of Romeo and Juliet that allegedly preserves the central romance? What are the queer things that can be found in the movies? What would I do if I could remake it as a multi-season TV show that was overflowing with explicit queerness that touched on things that weren't shown in the movies? Can I be normal about Kelsi? (I absolutely can't)
Why does Heartstopper (the TV show) make me read Tao as aro all the time?
Fairy tales! What is a fairy tale? Fairy tales through an aro lens! Do fairy tales have a distinct musical sound/style/identity? Has the musical sound of fairy tales changed over time?
Why do stories typically have room for a heroic love interest, but not a villainous love interest? (I'm not happy with the shallow answer of "because of amatonormativity/arophobia". I want to know, why are stories like this? Does it have to do with the structure and pacing of stories? How do pure narrative reasons interact with societal forces and expectations?)
"Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games has always felt aspec to me, and here's why." The last time I read through the trilogy, I felt she came across as demi I think? It might be interesting to compare the books to the movies and look at what and how the adaptation changes, especially with regards to romance, relationships, and aspec coding.
Something about how you can have in depth discussions about aspec politics without using aspec terminology, and maybe using too much aspec terminology makes conversations in the aspec community less accessible to new aspecs as well as well-meaning and open-minded allos who would be better allies to us if they could more easily understand what we talk about. When it comes to things like amatonormativity and allonormativity and the societal norms and issues we face, the more people who understand us and agree with us, the easier it'll be to shift society to be better for aspecs. So, sometimes it makes sense to try to talk about complicated, in-depth aspec issues using as little specialized terminology as possible.
Something something aro Celeste. A while ago a friend joked that I should do an aro analysis of Celeste, and then I started actually thinking about it and saying words and they realized they'd made a mistake, but I never wrote down any of the thoughts I had. Just brainstorming here, but there's probably something I could say about Crystal Hearts as collectibles that gate access to more difficult content and have three different art styles depending on where they appear and how they push you away unless you dash into them and break them and how you can die after collecting a Crystal Heart, Madeline's ex, Madeline and Theo's friendship and Grannie and Theo's grandfather's friendship, Madeline and Badeline's story arc through a "Show Yourself"-like aro lens, and Theo's instagram photos of Madeline doing archery. (This essay would be more on the silly side of things, basically proving that given enough disparate pieces in media I can cobble them together with thumbtacks and red string to make shapes that don't exist. And yes, I came up with the brainstorming list in about 5 minutes off the cuff while writing this bullet point)
An aro reading of Homestuck. I would need to finish Homestuck first, and I'm going to start from the beginning at...some point. I remember really liking and getting excited by the "troll QPRs", and I'm probably going to get nerd-sniped by trying to build my own understanding of how leprechaun romance can make sense. (Yes, I know this might be another thumbtacks and red string essay. No spoilers please)
Something about Gravity Falls, The Owl House, She-Ra, Steven Universe, or other similar TV shows?
Tron and Tron: Legacy? Idk I rewatched them semi recently, and expected to dislike the sequel because I had been listening to the album totally wrong. But then I disliked the original and liked the sequel a lot. There's potentially a music theory lens here, but I'm not sure if there's a queer lens here. But that's okay, maybe someone will suggest one, or maybe I'll just write up my thoughts even though there isn't any queerness to speak of, because my media analysis doesn't always have to be through a queer lens.
Something else that I haven't listed here because I don't have an actual list of things anywhere and I've probably forgotten multiple things?
Something I haven't thought of? If you want to know my thoughts on something or want me to analyze something, feel free to send an ask or a reblog or something. No promises I'll answer in a timely fashion (or ever), but I might
#... this was supposed to be a short answer.#anyways i've been wanting to sort-of rebrand my blog for a bit and more frequent casual posting about media analysis seems appealing to me.#so thank you for the ask and motivation to want to write things.#feel free to treat this list as a menu and order off of it; just be aware that your order may arrive in four-to-never months lol.#aro#aromantic#media analysis#queer#lgbtq#original#ask#unpolished media analysis

My Wordpress got a spike in visits recently and I wish it hadn't.
If you've been following me for a long time, or have been in the hellenic pagan sphere for many years, you've probably heard of Sarah Kate Istra Winter/dver or of one of their book titled Kharis or perhaps simply heard me bitch about it.
Turns out that the spike in my wordpress stats comes from them linking my blog among other blogs relating to hellenic paganism.
Needless to say, I'm not thrilled. So let me reiterate a few things:
I don't like their books, which I've criticized in past for poor research and historical inaccuracies, but her corpus of works has other, much more important issues. More on this below.
I don't want to be associated with them in any way, shape or form.
Had I been informed of the intent of linking my blog, I would have refused.
Why so harsh, you may ask?
There is a plethora of reasons, but Dver has connections to Sannion, a Dionysian who was very active back in the mid-2010s. He's a neo-nazi, and so are a lot of Dver's connections.
I do not have any tolerance when it comes to fascists, or any far-right bullshit at large and I naively thought I was too small of a blog for this wretched circle of pagans to find me. This blog is no longer small and it happened.
If you need to know more, I will link below some posts from the time Dver/their books were talked about:
(x) (x) (x) (x)
I also encourage anyone who remembers the Dver/Krasskova/Sannion debacle to add to this post with receipts/testimonies/whatever you know because, well, it's been nearly 10 years and I suspect a lot of people simply aren't aware.

And that's all (for now) about The Cho Brothers, Hidden Springs edition with Tyron, the oldest of the brothers as the protagonist. I'm closing with these photos of Hidden Springs at sunset, and a bonus photo of Jasper's house, with the Fire Engine included. 😉
Next up is a bit of The Wilson's, though I must confess I don't play The Sims 4 much anymore, you know, it's impossible for me to enjoy the game with updates every month and all those add-ons and events. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but it's a real pain to update all the gazillion mods I use, each time, to make the game work as it should.
Anyway, I love the Wilsons to pieces, so we'll continue to see something on them, but sadly maybe not as much and not as often as before. First, I would need to be able to play that game in peace and quiet to take more photos to show you, which is difficult for me now with EA constantly messing around with changes to the game. But don't worry, the Wilsons are staying with us., though it may take me longer to take proper screenshots of them.
*(End of the Sims 4 rant) *
-------
What will continue as usual are my posts on The Sims 3. Like I had already told you, in a few days we'll be back to the University with Dale, Kelly and company.
We'll see as well a little more of Lucky Palms, with Terence and Cynthia, and a bit of trouble in paradise.
Then we'll return with Tyron, and his new life in Starlight Shores.
I take this opportunity to tell you that I've continued to update the story of the Cho Brothers on my blog de Wordpress, for those of you who want to read it from the beginning or catch up with any posts you may have missed since this game began, you can find it here:
Also, probably next month... Really, I don't want to make any promises, but hopefully, by the end of February or earlier, the first episodes of my story Time Traveler. Part Three: To the Moon and Back will finally be ready. Mind you, it may take us a while to see Robin, our main character, again, but we will see some of his wife Ann, and the Shens, especially Dustin and Juliette in the hours following Robin's abduction.
Honestly, I hope I can keep up with everything, cause it's already difficult as it is to sit down and put my posts together. I'm juggling with two sim games, different stories and gameplays, not to mention work and real life stuff.
But don't worry, I promise this very year we will find out what happened to Robin Crane after he was abducted by aliens. We will also know who his parents are and why they had to separate from him. So prepare to go To the Moon and Back, and for lots and lots of drama! 😉
Until then, you can catch up with the latest episodes of the story, or read from the beginning if you must, on my WordPress blog here:

Realizing that Tumblr users can easily follow my posts, I'm considering how to engage users without accounts. I seek auto email subscription tools to encourage visitor interaction without mandatory sign-ups. Platforms like Medium and Substack offer such services, yet lack theme customization. On the flip side, Webflow, Wix, and Wordpress allow theme customization but lack email subscription options. There's a notable gap, and I believe Tumblr, with its focus on creativity, could bridge this.
Answer: Hi, @shahrishi!
As it happens, we, too, don’t dig anything that prevents non-logged-in people from seeing content on a network either—but it’s also true that requiring an account more often has helped Tumblr grow a fair bit in the last couple of years, so there’s a balance we’re trying to maintain. However, easing up that login wall is unlikely as things stand today. But we do have a suggestion. A loophole, if you will.
We would remind you that every blog on Tumblr has an RSS feed that’s free to use and doesn’t have any login wall—just add /rss to any blog URL, i.e., https://cyle.tumblr.com/rss.
We understand this is probably not exactly what you’re looking for, but maybe in the same direction. We hope it helps either way—and thank you for your question.

i think i’ve asked this before, maybe in a community but how the hell are you using blogspot? it’s a website i can’t grasp
i’m used to using wordpress for my blog, i want to start getting into the format that your website is set up in for my personal content but wp doesn’t work like that. you don’t have to type up a huge tutorial or anything but i’d love to have some rope to grasp onto, maybe just a starter on how to get a post set up 🙏 tysm, i lurk on your blog btw 👀 (you also dint have to do this at all!! sorry if it comes off as a demand i’m just so confused by the whole thing)
HII! YES I REMEMBER! Anyways, it took me a while to set it up, you'll need an email account to get in, and this is how the page looks like once inside (it's in spanish sorry 😶), in desing and theme yiu can change colors and add different things like a subtitle (were i have the tw) and comments, you can also turn on ads but it may ask user for extra cookies which i didn't feel comfortable doing so lol (but yiu can make money with ads). At the top were it says "Recipe for disaster" is you can add different blogs with different names, they'll be fully separate websites and you'll need different www. names. On the phone it's a bit tricky because on designing you gotta scroll to the side to find things (it was a pain in the ass to find that out I was with my laptop and phone thinking I was tweaking). There's also statistics to see more in depth info of the blogs, but i don't really use it, so i don't have much to add.
When writing it looks pretty much like google docs (cause blogger is from googled) so you gotta set up like a normal doc, it's a pain i the ass for me caue 8/10 times i do it on my phone and i go super slow to set uo the colours 🥲.
I don't know what else to say, but honestly the hardest part it's learning how to set it up, literally i got it this way in pink and i haven't touched the desing anymore. Be careful with your pfp and the background pictures cause it's very picky on how big the picture it's, it took me like 45 minutes to get the pfp i wanted (i wanted to die) cause the pic had to be a perfect square and i almost gave up.
I hope this helped somehow, spend some time in there just playing around and back and forth in the preview to get it how you like it, and after that it's just post as much as you want 🫶🏻🫶🏻 can't wait to read your blog, love ya!!!!

July Check-In/Mid-Year
Another month filled with things! IRL has been both super relaxing and insanely busy - very whiplash-y. The move is done, most of the admin is handled. It's just a lot of waiting for things to happen (and then it gets busy again for a while).
I somehow managed to do a bunch of things - I've surprised myself with what I ended up doing considering the little time I've had for online stuff. Writing, especially, is actually happening. Granted in short form so far, but words are being ordered in sentences that make sense and make me content. I think the translation project is working!!!
I can't believe we're already half way through the year...
Let's get into this:
Recap of June
The Plan for July
Update on 2025's progress + Plan for 2nd half of 2025
TLDR: Harcourt is officially released and done. I'm still on track(-ish) with the translations. Also participated in the Neo-Twiny Jam! And I've selected the next WIP to complete in the next 6 months.
What I've been up to in June?
So so much more than I thought I would. Like almost all the things I wished to I'd done were... done.
Editing the website, one page at a time.
I'm having so so so much fun working on this website. Really in love with this space and how much freedom it's giving me.
Slowly chipping away at making it mobile accessible, and checking items on my To-Do List. I have a bunch of ideas for stuff to add as well (I've been exploring the tiny and old web movements, cliques and groups outside of Interactive Fiction, and old trends). The only thing stopping me is time, lol.
Speaking of old trends: buttons and badges and stamps and pixel art! It's been challenging (steeeeep learning curve when it comes to details), but weirdly relaxing. And weirdly nostalgic (in the graphical design type of way). There are so many I want to do, but I'm forcing myself to take it slow (it's heavy on the wrist).
A couple of tiny pixel art, more in the clique page. Also... @lapinlunaire-games and I are making one. TBA!
And I've made an actual blog there too! Doing some tiny retrospective and archiving logs (this will take a while, but I'd rather be tied to Neocities than a Wordpress).
It's been a weird experience, kind of rediscovering myself in a way. I think collecting stuff, tracking/journaling, and (re)exploring other spheres outside of IF has been opening my tiny internet world to new fun stuff.
Anyways, if you're on Neocities, and you're interested in seeing updates and other stuff, find me here. I highly recommend everyone to create one too, and make the space your own, have shrines for stuff you really like, or collecting things from around the web... even if you don't know how to code, there are templates out there to help!
The Trials and Tribulations of Edward Harcourt
That's it. No more waiting for the next chapter or bug fixes or anything. The final content update is out. With Achievements! The game is now fully complete. AND THE BUGS ARE SMASHED!
MelS can finally relax and... work on another story lol (i know he has drafts, but nothing as fleshed out as Harcourt ever was. Unlikely something comes out from him for at least a year)
THE GREATEST INTERACTIVE RPG ADVENTURE FICTION GAME
I did it. It was a pain, and two weeks later than I'd planned (but I pushed the Really Bad IF jam's deadline for this purpose), and it's not exactly what I had in mind, but it's out as well!
I'd planned on having an actual story, completely ripped off from The Thick Table Tavern, but.... At some point, I just stopped and decided it was enough and done. And it makes the game worse anyway xD Reviews/ranking of all entries incoming. Probably mid-July.
Neo-Twiny Jam entries
I finally tried Decker for the first time with Cassadra. It was fun! But also weirdly complex? The engine is organised in a very strange way (for me), kind of like organised chaos. And I'm not super fond of not having layers or not being able to change the position/size of images after being set once. It's like a sticker problem... Still, I'm pretty happy about that entry, and kinda looking forward to see what else I can do with Decker! Also I'm finally getting over my no-pink-anywhere period... Thanks pink decker jam!
I've also done 2 more in Twine/SugarCube: Twee voor Twaalf! and Maenad Rite. The first is based on a Dutch quiz show, the second on a TTRPG scene I played 2 years ago (tbh I'm thinking of making it cannon for CRWL). I'm really happy with TvT because I managed to make it all work (except the 15min timer, but maybe that can be a later update?) and you actually get a score at the end. And stoked I managed MR before the deadline, because I've been trying to make it happen for over a year already.
Didn't think I'd manage even one entry, but ended up with 3! Also, no more jams until December!
Translations Project
I've been heavily relying on my buffer for this month, because of the above and IRL requiring more of my time than anticipated. Collision, Le Jeu de la Dévotion, Dévoiement and Clarence Street 14. There was also Intersigne meant for last Sunday, but I missed it because that weekend was so busy (and I prioritised Neo-Twiny to get one more out). I have the files ready, just need to upload it. Which will be later this afternoon!
And I gotta come clean... I cheated with my own rules with the NTJ entries above. Only one was translated, Maenad Rite, but only in French. MelS wasn't available this month to check my translations, so those new tiny games will be translated into Dutch, just later this summer. I just really wanted to ensure my entries were submitted on time and counted in the final tally.
NGL, I'm struggling quite a bit: the sentence structure really is kicking my ass. But MelS said I was improving. AND! It made me excited to write the Neo-Twiny entries! So it's working! And those are huge wins in my book :)
Neo-Interactives and other Events
REALLY BAD IF is over! It ended with 20 entries (which is about half compared to last year). Considering I didn't post much about the jam (or in general) before it happened. I'm pretty happy with it! Also, this is hush hush, but the jam page for next year is out!
So is Neo-Twiny Jam! And yall have no idea how glad we managed to pass the 100-count! Unlike the previous editions, it took us a long while to even pass the 50 milestone. We more or less got to the 2023 count, which is honestly a relief. I've only had a glance, but I'm pretty sure most entries were made in Twine. Lots of new comers and first-game-timers, which is really neat to see! I still have a bit of admin to wrap up the event, and I'll get back to reviewing in @manonamora-if-reviews :)
At this point, the 2025 Showcase will just be announced this month... I just keep forgetting...........
The Summer of Translations (Tumblr) is still ongoing. Not many entries aside of myself, but it's helped me stay accountable with myself, so lol it's a win in my book.
I'm also doing a thing on Fridays on @manonamora-if-reviews, Friday Fun-Day 5-star-Day, where I talk about games I like :)
And... that's all folks :P I had very little free time most of this month, and I still managed to put some stuff out. AND complete a whole project! June was a really good month writing wise!
~
The PLANtm for July
Let's keep this momentum going! New month, new list!
Summer of Translations: only 4 to put out this month, since there are only 4 Sundays :P (well, and Intersigne, coming out today)
Website: chip away at the To-Do list and have fun!
Reviews: over on @manonamora-if-reviews, for the Neo-Twiny Reviews, and the Really Bad IF Jam!
WIP: Prep the files for... [see below!!] to finish this next semester!
And that's more than enough. :P
~
Updates on 2025's progress
I've strayed a little from the tiny plan:
I haven't submitted to any event so far (but it was for a good cause! Also I had fun! and anyway, NTJ was on the approved list, and I combined with other jams too :P)
Still no new events organised either!
I've done some fixes for a previously released game (Harcourt, and it's completely complete!)
The website is still up-to-date! (Up to Cassandra, new update this week coming)
Speaking of plan, I've been able to map out where the rest of this year is going to look like for me, in terms of releases/updates, and still ensuring I follow my general goals of good rhythm and balance. So here's the Official To-Do list of 2025!
The Main To-Do list - a.k.a. what I'll 100% be doing
Complete Exquisite Cadaver: the writing might need some... re-writing, the interface needs to be fixed, and the code probably re-hauled (and made more accessible). It should be doable to complete within the next 6 months.
Fix Lysidice and the Minotaur: I'd gotten a bunch of comments about lil bugs/typos to fix and paths to improve the parser (especially for beginners). It shouldn't take me more than a week, if I sit down and just work on this. And some extra testing. Considering that game got like... a weekend a testing, but still works fine...
Keep the Website updated: since I'm probably not releasing any new IF game until December, and planning only two updates (above), I'm not too worried on that front. I'll probably write some more blogs and add more artsy stuff along the way.
Neo-Interactives/IFComp organisation: because commitments were made, and I'm not bailing out on them.
Secret IF thing: this is work related. I don't think I'll be allowed to publish the final version until all the parts are out and ironed out - but maybe an edited version might come out at some point (probably late 2026, depending on the overall project - my part is just a tiny element).
The Secondary To-Do list - a.k.a. if I have time/energy/will
Complete the Website To-Do list: essentially, - all game pages have their own interfaces - all pages are mobile accessible - theme switcher/animation blocker - zines, old writing, old art, etc have their own sections - and a lot more stuff...
Complete another WIP: this will be dependent on my progress on Exquisite Cadaver. I don't think I'd be able to complete the major other WIPs, but maybe The Dinner? If I can tackle some progress on any other WIP, I'll be happy.
Fix another game: I've a bunch of choice, lol ;-; Probalby EDOC or TRNT, NASM... (lol that's all the parsers) Teatime w/ Vamp also has tons of typos... Like above, this will be dependent on my progress with Lysidice.
Update Itch Pages: - manifesting: all game pages are all customised, formatted properly, with all the links and so on, and all special and everything. - hoping: my author page is revamped (computer vibe maybe) - likely: all the links actually are on there and they work.
100% Good Templates/Guide: I miss doing those... I have drafts for a Harlowe side-Guide, some Harlowe and Chapbook templates, also Ink and Adventuron. I'd love to release one Harlowe and one Chapbook template this year.
The Tertiary To-Do list - a.k.a. a girl can dream
Participating in all the jams/comps:
Now that's out of the way, lol
All current completed games are fixed: unless I decide not to work on WIPs and devote the next 6 months to fixes, this won't happen (and I'd be so boooored).
All WIPs are completed and I can work on new major project: I'd need either a time machine going back 5 years (to stop me from starting those project lol) or duplicate myself.
Remastered/Expanded SPS Iron Hammer, and The Thick Table Tavern, and In a Blink of an Eye and... same as above lol.
Ok joke's over.
I also have some idea on how to spend 2026 too - though it will depend greatly on IRL engagements (nothing set just yet, but likely):
Probably no new work, save for NTJ/Partim/Nouvim, potentially TALJ if time, and the French Comp if the theme calls to me
Completing P-Rix (main + side stories)
Anything from the lists above

Something I made in Canva one night, for my humble blog, for tax (since Wordpress is more stringent on copyright).
Any other writers of any sort familiar with the book The Artist’s Way? I haven’t worked through the whole thing in YEARS, but a yogi/meditation practitioner I follow mentioned the idea of Morning Pages, as an isolated practice, in conjunction with morning meditation.
Three pages of stream-of-consciousness writing first thing upon waking or as close to it as you can, without making it capital-W creative writing. Just thoughts.
I tried it again for the first time in a hot minute, “today,” (after midnight here, but meh). And meditated before work. Still a very frazzling day. My nervous system started OUT on overdrive, from square one. But I’ll keep trying. I can’t always hit all my goals and have to juggle priorities. Spoon shortages.
But lemme add, there are some absolutely BRILLIANT works of Lost Boys fan fic on here! I haven’t even scratched the surface of all the bits I’d like to read. Which made me wonder if any of you might enjoy Morning Pages, too, or if you journal? Fan fiction counts as fiction! Takes talent and creativity. Not that I have to tell YOU! 🤣
And to justify all the tags I plan to apply:
My argument on why according to Star, David wanted her to kill Michael, in spite of directions from Max to add him to “the family,” and why this ultimately MAY NOT rule out a Michael/David romantic undercurrent:
Sure, David is distant and manipulative and possessive. Star rides with him, and no one else. Maybe they had a thing at some point, and he just doesn’t touch her much or get in her personal space, because he’s anti-PDA, even around the boys. Or maybe their tryst is mostly past.
But to me, that seems unlikely. Possible, yes, but still. He’s in Michael’s space A LOT, and says his name a zillion times. So, what gives? Was he THAT murderous and vindictive to think his means-to-an-end girlie shouldn’t have Michael— no one should— if he couldn’t score with Michael, himself?
That also seems doubtful. He’s plenty murderous, but I don’t think he believed she’d go through with it. I think he’s possessive of them both, for different reasons maybe.
And he’s definitely the jealous type.
I think he was messing with their budding relationship dynamics for funsies.
Unless she’s grown cold with David, or he’s bored with her but not yet willing to fully let go, and it’s all just one tangled poly mess of frustrated emotions.
Mostly because I wanted a happily ever after for all three of them, my rockstar lead singer variation on David in Wishful Sinful and “Hyacinth House” is poly and bi. And Haven, unlike Star, gets possessive, too, working through her issues with the intensity of newfound love and heat between the two men.
There are struggles for each of them, individually and collectively. I’ll have to share another scene soon. 🖤

So, when posting using WordPress, it does different things depending on the way you do it.
If you're using WordPress itself to post and then view that post on mastodon, it shows the post in full, which is great. It ends with post with a link to WordPress too.
However, if you use the "crosspost" function to post it to an actual mastodon account, it will concat the post and remove all formatting, including paragraphs. It'll post a set number of characters, then finish with "..." and a link to WordPress.
If you use crosspost to post to a Tumblr account, it will also concat, although the character limit seems different. It also won't remove formatting or paragraph breaks. It adds a link to WordPress at the bottom.
Now if only I could follow back from WordPress without paying $300 lol.
Someone said they'd like it if WordPress did a "import your blog" feature, and I have GOOD NEWS:
You can already partially do that! And it's easy! I did it to import all the feminist posts I made on GrayTheory. It doesn't import followers or who you follow, because those accounts don't exist on WordPress, but you can preserve your blog's original posts. I can't remember if it imports reblogs.
Oh! And you can reblog on WordPress too!
So like. If you wanna back up your Tumblr in a format that's at least similar to Tumblr and is partially accessible by the fediverse, use WordPress.

Kickstart Your Earnings with Content Writing: A Beginner’s Friendly Roadmap
If you’ve ever wondered how ordinary people turn their words into cash, content writing might be your sweet spot. You don’t need a fancy degree or decades of experience to get started. With some guidance, dedication, and a dash of creativity, you can start earning from content writing sooner than you think. This guide walks you through each step in a friendly, down‑to‑earth way so you’ll feel confident launching your freelance writing journey.

Why Content Writing Is a Great Starting Point Content writing covers everything from blog posts and web pages to social media captions and product descriptions. Businesses of all sizes need fresh, engaging words to connect with their audience, rank higher in search engines, and boost sales. As companies continue to invest in digital marketing, demand for quality content writers stays strong. Plus, you can work from anywhere, set your own hours, and choose projects that spark your interest.
Understanding the Basics of Earning from Content Writing At its core, earning from content writing means providing value through written words. Clients pay for:
Research that saves them time
SEO‑friendly copy that boosts visibility
Clear, engaging storytelling that connects with readers
Consistent output that maintains an active online presence
Your job is to become the go‑to person who delivers those benefits reliably.
Step 1: Identify Your Niche and Strengths While generalists can find work, specializing helps you stand out. Consider topics you enjoy or know well—travel, personal finance, health and wellness, tech, lifestyle, parenting, gaming, or education. Having a niche makes it easier to showcase your expertise and justify higher rates. If you’re a fitness buff who loves writing, focus on blogs and articles in that sphere. If you have a background in software, aim for tech how‑to guides.
Step 2: Build a Portfolio That Shows Your Skills Clients want proof you can write well. Even if you haven’t been paid yet, you can create sample pieces:
Start a personal blog or Medium page and publish 3 to 5 high‑quality articles in your niche.
Guest post on small blogs that accept submissions.
Rewrite or summarize existing news stories in your voice (clearly marked as samples).
Draft mock project pieces for imaginary clients—product descriptions, newsletters, or landing pages.
Organize these in a simple online portfolio. You can use free tools like Google Sites, Wix, or WordPress. Make sure each sample highlights your SEO skills by including relevant keywords naturally in titles and subheadings.
Step 3: Optimize Your Online Profiles for Visibility Next, set up profiles on freelance platforms and job boards. Popular destinations include Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, ProBlogger, Contena, and LinkedIn. When crafting your profile:
Write an engaging headline that includes “content writer” or “freelance writer.”
Summarize your background, niche focus, and any standout achievements.
List your portfolio samples or link directly to your site.
Add relevant skills: SEO, WordPress, SEMrush, Mailchimp, social media management, etc.
Request testimonials from friends or colleagues who can vouch for your work ethic or writing ability.
A well‑optimized profile boosts your chances of appearing in client searches and winning invitations.
Step 4: Find Your First Paid Gigs Landing that first paid project often takes persistence. Strategies that work:
Pitch directly to small businesses or local startups. Send personalized emails offering a free trial article or website audit.
Apply to relevant listings daily on freelance boards. Tailor each proposal to the client’s needs—mention specifics from their job post.
Explore niche‑specific boards like BloggingPro or JournalismJobs for targeted opportunities.
Network on LinkedIn by sharing helpful writing tips, engaging with posts in your niche, and connecting with marketing professionals.
Early on, you might accept lower‑priced gigs to build credibility, but avoid underpricing yourself. Aim for a rate you can increase once you’ve racked up 5 to 10 positive reviews.
Step 5: Master SEO and Content Strategy SEO savvy writers command better fees. Search Engine Optimization involves understanding how keywords, user intent, and readability affect rankings. To shine:
Use free keyword research tools like Google Keyword Planner or Ubersuggest to identify target phrases.
Incorporate primary keywords in titles, opening paragraphs, subheadings, and naturally throughout the text.
Keep sentences concise, break up text with subheadings, and add bullet lists or numbered steps for scannability.
Learn basic on‑page SEO: meta descriptions, internal linking, image alt text, and proper URL structure.
Businesses pay for measurable results. If your copy ranks higher and drives traffic, you become more valuable.
Step 6: Set Competitive Rates and Payment Terms Knowing how much to charge can feel tricky. Common approaches include:
Per‑word rate: New freelance writers often start at five to ten cents per word, moving up to twenty cents or more with experience.
Per‑hour rate: Beginners might charge twenty to thirty dollars per hour, progressing to fifty and beyond as skills sharpen.
Per‑project fee: Flat rates for complete blog posts or web pages, factoring in research, revisions, and strategy.
Always agree on payment milestones. A 50/50 split works—half up front, half on completion. Use contracts to outline deliverables, deadlines, and revision policies. This keeps both sides on the same page.
Step 7: Deliver Quality and Build Long‑Term Relationships Repeat clients are freelancing gold. To keep clients coming back:
Meet deadlines without reminders.
Communicate clearly—let them know if you hit a roadblock and propose solutions.
Offer a revision round to refine the piece to their liking.
Suggest topic ideas for future posts based on emerging trends in their industry.
When clients see you consistently add value, they’ll hire you again and refer you to others.
Step 8: Leverage Tools and Continuous Learning Stay competitive by embracing helpful platforms:
Grammarly or ProWritingAid to polish grammar and tone.
Yoast or Rank Math (for WordPress) to fine‑tune on‑page SEO.
Trello or Asana for managing multiple projects smoothly.
Google Analytics basics to understand content performance.
Invest time in online courses or webinars on SEO, storytelling, and copywriting. The more you learn, the more you can charge.
Step 9: Scale Your Earnings Over Time Once you’ve established a steady stream of projects, scaling becomes the name of the game. Options include:
Raising your rates for new clients while maintaining current engagements.
Packaging content services—offer blog writing plus email newsletters or social media management as a bundle.
Outsourcing parts of the work, like research or editing, to junior writers, allowing you to focus on strategy and client relations.
Creating digital products, such as eBooks or courses on content writing, to earn passive income.
Diversifying revenue streams helps insulate your income from slow periods.
Putting It All Together Earning from content writing is an achievable goal, even if you’re starting from scratch. By identifying your niche, building an impressive portfolio, mastering SEO, and delivering top‑notch work, you’ll attract clients eager to pay for your expertise. Remember that patience and persistence pay off. Treat every project as a chance to improve your craft and delight a client. Before you know it, you’ll have a thriving freelance writing business that fits your lifestyle and fuels your creative passions.
