your muses aesthetic.  list your muse’s aesthetic from tastes, smells, outfits, and sceneries. add as many subjects as you like, it can help with people tagging you in aesthetically pleasing things towards your muse.
tastes: spicy tteokbokki, hot ramyeon, and jjajangmyeon with extra black bean sauce. leftover convenience store kimbap eaten cold. makgeolli in chipped ceramic cups and soju that burns the throat going down. stale instant coffee from a vending machine and the occasional comfort of warm hobbang from a street vendor. anything cheap and quick, wolfed down in back alleys between jobs.
smells: cigarette smoke clinging to secondhand leather jackets. damp asphalt after rain. iron, sharp and metallic—lingering on her hands, around her. faint hints of mint from cheap toothpaste. motor oil and gasoline. the unmistakable tang of fried food from street vendors. a fleeting whiff of a generic scent from orphanage laundry soap, buried deep in her memory.
sights: neon signs flickering against the night, casting red, blue hues over her face. dim, overcrowded internet cafés humming with the sound of machines and whispers, gossiping. train stations bustling with faceless crowds moving in sync. gray against gray, monotone. crumbling apartment blocks. the glow of a screen in a pitch-black room. worn-out sneakers and unpatched holes in the knees of jeans. abandoned lots overgrown with weeds, places where stray cats roam freely. old scars on skin, from fights, from punishment. wooden rulers snapped in half from use, frayed belts hanging from hooks, and the distinct shadow of a handprint on her skin. barren playrooms with cracked walls and broken toys.
sounds: the low hum of city noise—car engines, muffled conversations, and the occasional siren in the distance. clicking keys in an internet café. muted beats of bass-heavy music leaking through walls. the rustle of crumpled paper bills changing hands. muffled arguments in hallways that echo long after they end. her own breathing, steady and controlled, masking the quick beat of her heart.
sensations: the sting of knuckles scraped raw against concrete. cold metal pressed against the skin—a switchblade tucked in a jacket pocket or the weight of stolen goods. persistent ache in her shoulders from carrying too much literal and figurative weight. the burn of alcohol, cleansing and numbing at once. the flicker of adrenaline.
themes: a stray dog fighting for scraps. survival over sentiment. a slow-burning rage simmering beneath the surface. mistrust woven into every interaction. fleeting moments of softness, buried so deep they hardly seem real. the weight of a life lived on borrowed time, with debts that can never be fully repaid. inside of me, there are two dogs. one is mean and evil; the other is good and they always fight each other. when asked which one wins, i answer,  the one I feed the most.

Full tier list is here, breaking down the F-tier. Time to expose my Hater Tendencies.
Red Realistically, Red is not inherently awful, my hate is a byproduct of the franchise itself constantly pushing him as the biggest most importantest trainer ever to live, and I despise that. He exudes nothing to me. I think his challenge in GSC also sucks, the remakes actually made it way worse, and Let's Go's conditions are so annoying I refused to even entertain the idea. I have no respect for him, and think the general fanon perception of selective mutism is giving credit where it's not due. He's just supposed to be strong and silent warrior man archetype, which is boring as sin, and people are out here making him actually interesting. Stop it. I'm trying to be a hater.
Brendan "Your dad's a gym leader so I thought you'd be a guy." "Unlike you, your dad seems tough." Brendan is a piece of shit masquerading as your first "nice" rival and I never got over the bad vibes. Fuck this dude.
Flint He looks stupid, and is in love with Volkner. Atrocious taste.
Thorton He's just kind of a dweeb, and then Masters had a really early event where he's supremely rude to Hilda for literally no reason. His vibes are rancid.
Flannery Every tier has one I look at and go "I am being a little unfair, but I must be true to my feelings." Flannery is that pick. I cannot stand Flannery for entirely unfair reasons, but nothing gets me past it. I'm sorry, it's an ongoing hangup, but I cannot get over how much I hate when they make a female character whose thing is being shy or self conscious, and put her in a revealing outfit. Like come on. I know what this is and I'm mad about it. Consider her my entry point onto some guys being just really skeevy about female character designs.
Volkner "Oh, I'm so bored of battling because no one is a challenge to me, guy who isn't even on the Elite Four." Get over yourself, loser.
Klara/Avery I'm lumping them together. I hate them both equally. Galar is already fighting an uphill battle with its atrocious aesthetic, and these two being petty losers is doing nothing to help their case.
Sordward/Shielbert I mean...do I really need to explain? His head is a penis. Literal dickhead. Worst post-game segment of the series.
Ball Guy Originally omitted, decided to include just to shit on garbage reddit meme culture. Masters, you fucked up putting this thing in here.
Mohn/AZ Okay, these two are the actual, beyond all else, bottom of the barrel losers. Why? Because they are the only inclusions that I think actively harm their games. In the case of Mohn, the only emotional center Gen 7 has is the Aether Fam, and the husband/father is literally just hanging out on an island. We know where he is. He's the bean man. And this angst gets absolutely annihilated over the fact that he's literally just right the fuck here. USUM even has him interact, only to shut down a real resolution with him. Like great Lusamine, glad you've decided to move on, that is a choice, but like. We're all really going to pretend like this wasn't the entire core of the issue and just let it all go in a half-cooked scene? I wish he never showed up.
AZ is much the same. His presence as an eternal entity wandering the earth bothers me, because honestly bro, it's been 3000 years. Do you know how quickly people change who they are? I'll give you a hint, it's fewer years than that. And at no point was there any real attempt to like. Reflect or undo his previous actions? Like you could've dealt with the machine since you knew where it was, man. You could've done literally anything. And his resolution is supposed to be one (1) battle with you where he suddenly feels like he can just let go of the weight of his sins of creating a doomsday weapon that runs on Pokemon life and committing a genocide with it. Hooray. Glad we wrapped that up. He should've just been a cautionary tale that existed in history, not a literal guy who continues to be here. I hate him so much.

Note
Everyone craps on game villains for being shallow but then turn around and praise Nine along with the IDW villains who don't have any depth or appeal beyond the vibe of their aesthetic. The double standard could not be any more blatant if they tried
These jokers can only wish they had the emotionally gripping writing of Black Doom and the robots from Mean Bean Machine.

glad you asked!
*AUTISM MODE ENGAGE*
puyo puyo (ぷよぷよ) is a japanese puzzle game originally created by compile (but they went bankrupt) and owned by sega!
the series originally started as a spinoff of a dungeon crawling game called madou monogatari (I know jack diddly squat about madou). in puyo puyo the main characters of that game (as well as a few enemies) fight each other using magic spells casted by connecting 4 or more of the same colored puyos together to pop them!
the compile era of the puyo puyo series stars Arle from the madou monogatari series as the protagonist, where in most games she attempts to stop satan (that's actually the villain's name) from doing a bunch of evil stuff. arle's also got a magical rabbit thing as a companion, his name is carbuncle and he likes curry :) other characters from this era that continue to show up in newer games are schezo, a dark mage who accidentally turns every sentence into an innuendo, and rulue, a fighting queen who has a crush on satan.
psst! 3 of the compile era games are available on switch! sega ages puyo puyo 1 and 2 are both ten bucks and if you have nso you can play the snes version of 2 on snes online!
both sega and nintendo tried to localize these games, but in doing so, they stripped the games of their original madou monogatari personality and replaced them with other games. sega localized pp1 as a game you might recognize as Doctor Robotnick's Mean Bean Machine, while nintendo made the slightly more obscure Kirby's Avalanche (ALSO AVAILABLE ON SNES NSO!!)
a BUNCH of stuff happened, the localized games didn't do well, puyo puyo became more popular than madou, and compile went bankrupt after years of shoving puyo puyo down everyone's throats non-stop
they then handed the rights to puyo puyo to sega, but completely forgot about the rights to madou, meaning madou monogatari is completely dead at this point with no hope of a reboot, and puyo puyo is still goin strong.
when sega got puyo puyo they decided to completely rebrand the game, and it ditched it's dark dungeon crawler aesthetic for a more fun colorful vibrant tone, and thus, Puyo Pop Fever was born.
Fever was a sort of reboot for the franchise, starring a new protagonist named Amitie, a very cheerful student who goes to a magic school, and a bunch of more awesome colorful characters (and arle she's still here)! A sequel to puyo pop fever was released in japan called Puyo Puyo Fever 2, but due to the poor sales in the US, the game never made it over to america and this would be the last localized puyo game. for at least 10 years.
also puyo puyo fever 2 introduced sig!!! the best boy!!! fun fact he's half demon but does not care about that at all and instead of doing all the traditional demon things like taking over worlds he simply don't care. he's got the bug autism and likes bugs very much :)
uhh MORE TIME SKIP! another reboot was created called Puyo Puyo 7! New protagonist named Ringo who is a regular middle school student and does regular japanese middle schooler stuff until Arle comes back and is possessed by something and is all like "you have the power. you can pop puyos now." and crazy highjinks ensue!
ANOTHER TIME SKIP!
puyo puyo 15th anniversary is released and surprise surprise it's also a reboot but this time it features (almost) ALL the important characters from the previous games! woo! and then 5 years after that 20th anniversary happened which was much better!
*WHWHOOOOSH TIME SKIP*
a crossover game between puyo puyo and tetris called Puyo Puyo Tetris was released in 2014! remember this!
*FINAL TIME SKIP I PROMISE*
oh hey remember what I just said? guess what! it's 2017 and sega is acknowledging for the first time people in america want puyo puyo! they then release a localized version of puyo puyo tetris onto nintendo switch and other platforms and it's a hit! people liked it! they liked it so much that in 2020 it got a direct sequel which wasn't just left to rot in the prison of region exclusivity and actually got localized as well! hooray for puyo puyo!!
that's basically the entire puyo puyo series history in a nutshell *autism disengage*
there were some games I left out because this was getting too long but who cares
if you're looking to play a puyo puyo game and you own a nintendo switch you can try any of these!
Sega ages - Puyo Puyo: The arcade version of the original Puyo Puyo game.
Sega Ages - Puyo Puyo 2: Arcade version of the second game (text is all in japanese, but it's purchasable on the american eshop!)
Nintendo Switch Online - SNES Online - Super Puyo Puyo 2: The SNES version of puyo puyo 2
Nintendo Switch Online - SNES Online - Kirby's Avalanche: An attempt for an english localization of pp1 featuring iconic kirby characters!
NSO Expansion Pack - Sega Genesis Online - Doctor Robotnick's Mean Bean Machine: Another localization attempt, featuring robots from the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon! sonic does not make an appearance in this game.
Sonic Mania: One of the bosses in sonic mania has you playing Puyo Puyo against Eggman, and once you beat that boss you unlock a special mean bean machine side mode!
Puyo Puyo Champions: A puyo puyo game purely focused on competitive play, with no story. You can play using either normal puyo puyo rules, or the special ruleset introduced in fever.
Puyo Puyo Tetris: A crossover game between puyo puyo and tetris, featuring new characters based off the tetris blocks! Has a pretty ok story, the localizers took a few liberties here and there, sometimes they didn't understand the references to things and left them out.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2: A direct sequel to the game I just mentioned. Improves upon the story alot, all the previous characters return as well as 2 new characters! There were also a few characters added in later through free dlc! Currently the second newest puyo puyo game, and also the second most definitive with a bunch of cool sidemodes!
Currently, the newest game in the series is Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop, which is THE definitive puyo puyo game! unfortunately it's stuck on apple arcade so you need an iphone, a bluetooth controller, and a subscription for that if you wanna play. this game technically is incomplete as the story is being added in through updates, but what they've got now is really interesting!! they're finally doing something with the "sig is half demon" concept and now he's the villain of the game! so cool! god I want this game ported to consoles so badly... SEGAAAA GIVE ME EDGY SIG!!!
there's also a japan exclusive mobile gacha game called puyo puyo quest. it's aight. I've played it once and then deleted it because gacha games update regularly and my phone is running low on space.
and that's everything about puyo puyo thanks for asking

Neelix, I need another pot of coffee (Prototype, s2 e13 & Dreadnought, s2 e17)
I don't have much substantial to say about "Prototype" or "Dreadnought," two enjoyable robot-of-the-week episodes that center on Torres delivering compelling technobabble to a machine for 45 minutes. They are both extremely watchable, and "Protoype" especially worked for me with its first contact moral quandary premise, which felt straight out of pulp science fiction in the best way. And who doesn't love an android who looks like they shop at LL Bean?
Tumblr media
So instead this is going to be a meditation on science fiction depictions of women in STEM, and why they seem to be so deeply lodged in my psyche.
The first adult novel I ever bought was Contact by Carl Sagan. This was at my middle school's Scholastic book fair. When I think about my twelve-year-old self I immediately remember that mass-market paperback, which in some hard-to-pin-down way summed up all my aspirations for my future adult life.
I'd encountered Contact as a hardcover book at a relative's house a year or two earlier. For those not in the know, it follows an astronomer who detects a first contact transmission. The book spends a lot of time imagining the political and social impacts of discovering extraterrestrial life, as well as the challenges Ellie Arroway faces as a woman in her field.
In the space of a weekend, I raced through the book but didn't have time to finish it. Soon after, the film came out, and I saw it in theaters. It was a movie that felt like it had been made specifically for me (aliens! science mysteries! an extremely hot Jodie Foster!)
My relationship with science and STEM is contradictory. As a kid growing up watching Star Trek and reading Madeleine L'Engle (shout-out to my other formative science girl, Meg Murry), I was so hungry to learn more about astronomy, programming, math, and electronics, but I never seemed to get my hands on those opportunities. This was before "STEM" was popularized as an acronym, and casual opportunities to be a kid science nerd were slim. At the same time, it was the "post-feminist" 90s, and I was never particularly conscious of being excluded from the sciences due to my gender.
As I grew older, my main STEM interests were web design (as evidenced by many lovingly hand-coded early-2000s websites) and microbiology (I am still filled with rapture whenever I contemplate protein synthesis). I also harbored a deep and all-encompassing love for the Museum of Science in Boston. But my career aspects were mostly in the humanities or social sciences, and I never got around to taking a formal programming class. As I became an adult, I stopped running Linux on my laptop or freaking people out at work with my DVORAK keyboard setup. I drifted away from a conception of myself as that kind of nerd.
It's natural for interests to shift as we age, but something about this particular transition felt devastatingly final to me. STEM is a closed world that doesn't welcome casual interest. There is almost no space for adult women to dabble in a STEM hobby. Science museums are for children, and popular nonfiction about physics and math are, implicitly, for men. (Earlier this month I watched some Youtube videos about astronomy, and immediately started seeing gun advertisements.)
I sometimes think that what I enjoyed as a kid was the aesthetic of science - in other words, the reason we consume science fiction in the first place. Why do we love a science girl? For me this attraction feels very extremely gay, though others' mileage may vary. "Scientist" is, yes, traditionally a male-coded role, but to young me, it felt like a means to escape gender roles entirely. Science girls and science queers are smart and curious and independent; they are hungry for adventure and have no time for your societal expectations.
When Voyager came out, there were virtually no shows that featured multiple women working in the sciences (outside of medical shows). But for me, a kid reading and watching science fiction, it was normal. Roxann Dawson complained that most of her episodes in early Voyager are her alone in a room talking to a robot/missile/herself, but she's very good at it! The troubleshooting scenes feel lived-in and naturalistic, especially in the way they portray her satisfaction from solving a technical problem. She's so tickled with herself when she achieves a breakthrough! I felt similarly when I mastered the art of inline CSS in the year 1999.
Tumblr media
Science fiction that accurately portrays the experience of working with technology is rare, and to be clear, Star Trek doesn't always bother. But Voyager seems genuinely interested in dramatizing problem-solving and collaboration skills - scientist as something you do, not something you are.
I still use my computer skills at my day job, and while I don't work in the sciences, I like to think that the way I move through the world owes something to all the hours I spent as a kid imagining myself into starships and astronomical observatories.
And with that, I'm off to watch some more videos about the twin paradox.
4/5 power modules.

New York City is the most iconic and most visited city in the United States. With its distinctive skyline, diverse neighborhoods, world-class museums, incredible Broadway productions, and melting pot of cultures, NYC attracts millions of visitors each year. (It’s also the place I call home.) New York City is huge. I mean, ten million people live here. Where do you stay when you’re here? There are so many hotels to choose from. To help you plan your visit and narrow down your options, here’s my list of the best hotels in NYC: 1. East Village Hotel Located in the East Village, my absolute favorite neighborhood in NYC, this boutique aparthotel is run more like an Airbnb than a traditional hotel. You get sent a code before arrival to check in, and there’s no staff or restaurant on site (though an outpost of The Bean, a popular NYC café, is right downstairs). The studio apartments are designed to reflect the neighborhood’s bohemian spirit, with contemporary artistic décor, beautiful exposed brick walls, and lots of natural light. The kitchenettes include a stovetop, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and silverware. Rooms include comfy pillowtop beds, showers with good water pressure, a flatscreen TV, and complimentary bath products. Everything is pretty compact, but in an area with few hotels, this is one of the best-value spots. Stay here if you want to be in a central location with tons of great restaurants and bars at your fingertips.   2. The Marlton Originally built in 1900, this historic boutique hotel in Greenwich Village has been home to many of the area’s bohemian set, including one of my favorite writers, Jack Kerouac (he even penned a few novellas here). I like that the hotel’s extensive renovations still kept its classic aesthetic. The beautiful interior has a stately feel, with ornate moldings, herringbone parquet floors, and vintage furnishings like brass light fixtures, ornate rugs, and custom-made furniture. The staff are super friendly too. The rooms are pretty small, but well designed to make use of the space. They come with flat-screen TVs, comfy beds with plush bedding, wardrobes, minibars, and marble bathrooms. The Marlton is also home to an excellent bar that serves incredible cocktails, and there’s a complimentary breakfast available too. I think it’s the best value for your money in the area.   3. Vocabulary: The Franklin This three-star hotel is in a 19th-century brownstone in the Upper East Side, the neighborhood I live in (if you see me, say hi!). The rooms here are simple, but the hotel has some great perks, like a free 24-hour espresso bar and a standard late checkout time of 12 p.m. The restaurant is currently being renovated, so there’s no breakfast available on-site, but there are tons of places just steps away. The rooms are decorated in a minimal (but cozy) style, with white-painted chandeliers and cute original art. All rooms come with large TVs and comfy pillow-top mattresses, while their larger rooms come with a desk and easy chair. Everything is newly renovated, and the glass-enclosed showers have excellent pressure. The location is great too, as it’s on a quiet, leafy street close to Central Park and Museum Mile.   4. Hotel Indigo This four-star hotel is dedicated to supporting local street art and artists, and you’ll see plenty of their work throughout the building. The rooftop bar, Mr. Purple, is a favorite among locals for fancy cocktails, and on the weekends, the area turns into an upscale club. (Because of that, it’s a 21+ hotel.). There’s even a heated pool on the rooftop too. The rooms boast hardwood floors, bold artwork, and floor-to-ceiling windows with impressive views over the city. All rooms also include Keurig machines, desks, and a minibar (for which you get a $20 USD credit). The bathrooms are large, beautifully tiled, and feature rainfall shower heads. While there’s no breakfast served on site, you’re just steps away from tons of great eateries open at all hours. Overall,
I think this hotel is the best place to stay if you want to experience NYC’s legendary nightlife.   5. The Standard The Standard is one of the best hotels in the city (I think this East Side location is even better than the one in the Meatpacking district). The bar serves some of the best drinks in town and is usually always packed with NY’s fashionable set. There’s a café where you can get breakfast in the mornings too. The recently renovated rooms are gorgeous, decorated in a minimal design with bright pops of color and lots of natural light thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. They’re pretty big too, especially by NYC standards. All rooms at this four-star hotel feature plush beds, fluffy down pillows, huge flatscreen TVs, Bluetooth speakers, cozy bathrobes, work desks, and stocked minibars. The bathrooms are spacious, with tiled walk-in showers and organic designer toiletries. You’ll also get complimentary access to the nearby Crunch gym (in case you want to work off all the delicious food from the plethora of nearby restaurants).   6. The Library Hotel Everything at this four-star hotel is book-related. Each of the ten floors has a different theme, and all of the 60 rooms have dozens of books that fit within that theme (the hotel has a collection of over 6,000 books!). There’s also a Reading Room lounge with work desks, cozy nooks for reading or writing, and 24/7 coffee, tea, snacks, and drinks. Guest rooms are a good size (for NYC) and feature rich wood furnishings in a sleek, contemporary design, with plush bedding, minibars, flatscreen TVs, desks, and luxury bath products. There’s also free breakfast, a rooftop terrace with a bar that serves literary-themed drinks, and really helpful staff. It’s a quiet respite from an otherwise busy and loud neighborhood. Stay here for a unique experience that’s close to major tourist sites like Times Square, the Empire State Building, and Grand Central Station.   7. The Sherry-Netherland Located on Fifth Avenue, right across from Central Park, this ornate five-star hotel is housed in a stunning Beaux-Arts building. The lobby boasts vaulted, painted ceilings and custom-made chandeliers, and the elevator even has a white-gloved operator, just to highlight how upscale this property is. The property’s Italian restaurant serves breakfast in the mornings, and there’s a fitness center available too. The spacious rooms are elegantly decorated, with mahogany desks, tasteful art on the walls, and large marble bathrooms. All rooms include flatscreen TVs, luxury bath products, complimentary soda, mineral water, and chocolates, and daily newspaper delivery. This is the place to stay if you want to splash out on a classy and timeless NYC hotel experience.

Barista Aesthetic ✨ | Coffee + Career = Life Upgrade
Tumblr media
In a world that never slows down, coffee has grown into more than a pick-me-up— it has become part of how we live. Maybe you sip a flat white while rushing to school, steal a quiet minute with black coffee at home, or snap a photo of a swan-shaped cappuccino before posting it online. No matter where or how we drink it, coffee fills the small gaps in our day and somehow makes the whole thing feel a little more special. So what if that everyday comfort could pay the bills? That’s the promise of the “barista aesthetic,” an inside joke that, for real baristas, means a steady job and a mini life upgrade all at once.
Pulling a Perfect Shot: Craft, Not Just Routine
Punching buttons on a coffee machine looks simple, yet true baristas see every cup as artwork. They learn how fine adjustments in grind size or tamping pressure can turn a so-so espresso into an aromatic miracle. Once the espresso base is ready, painting rosettas or hearts on top of steamed milk becomes the icing on the cake. Beyond the equipment, real baristas blend creative instincts with people skills—memorizing names, remembering allergies, and keeping the line moving. If you already geek out over grind ratios or spend too long scrolling latte-art videos, working behind the bar lets you wear that obsession like a uniform from Monday to Sunday.
Whether you pull shots behind the counter of a tiny neighborhood café or a swanky coffee lounge, the job has a heartbeat all its own. There’s a certain magic in hitting the exact right grind, chatting with customers who know your name, and picking up a fresh trick during the morning rush. Those small moments weave together to create the curious day-to-day life of a barista.
Coffee + Job = Big Change
If you wake up dreaming of rosettas and you feel charged by a good challenge, working with coffee can turn a simple paycheck into something richer. Here are a few reasons that a career behind the bar may feel like an upgrade, not just a stopgap.
Art in Every Cup
The top perk of the job is that each drink invites you to paint with milk and espresso. You can stretch silky foam into swans, tinker with pour-over times, or dream up a berry-lavender lemonade for summer. Coffee stops being just a pick-me-up and starts acting like blank paper, with you holding the pen.
Keeping Up with Coffee Changes
The coffee scene is always on the move, so a barista never really stops learning. You might spend one morning figuring out the best way to pour a perfect latte art heart, and the next afternoon diving into the story behind a rare single-origin bean. New brewing gadgets, flavor discoveries, and social-media buzz all show up, and you get to decide which ones you want to try. That idea of growing a little every shift is one of the things many baristas love most about the job.
Meeting New People Every Day
The job description might say “make coffee,” but a big part of being a barista is talking with people. Maybe it’s joking with a sleepy student who orders the largest cold brew, swapping recipe tips with a weekend regular, or chatting about travel with a customer who just returned from Colombia. You share a tiny moment of their morning or afternoon, and sometimes that tiny moment turns into a real friendship. Because the crowd is always changing, the work feels fresh, and you get a front-row seat to a whole neighborhood’s daily rhythm.
Having Control Over Your Schedule
One nice surprise for many baristas is how flexible the hours can be. Lots of cafés offer early morning shifts, midday slots, or even late-night stints, so it’s usually possible to fit your job around school, another part-time gig, or a hobby you love, like music or sports. That bit of freedom can make a big difference in keeping stress low and energy high. If independence and variety sound good to you, pouring coffee might be the perfect way to pay the bills while staying true to your other interests.
The Benefits of Living the Coffee Life
Let’s be honest—spending your shift behind a coffee bar has serious perks. You’re usually first in line for free or cut-rate caffeine, you get to taste rare single-origin roasts most drinkers only hear about, and the constant hiss of steam is somehow more energizing than annoying. If you love coffee, working with it morning after morning feels a bit like moving into a warm, fragrant story you never want to end.
Why Bother with Barista Training?
Being a barista might feel like the ultimate cool-job fantasy, but behind the Instagram-perfect shots is a lot of skill that only comes from proper practice. A good barista coffee training program does way more than hand you a recipe card; it shows you how coffee really works and how to make it shine. Here are the key things a solid barista class will walk you through:
Hands-on Experience: You’ll spend plenty of time at the machine pulling shots, steaming milk for that café-level texture, and learning why grind size or temperature makes or breaks a drink.
Latte Art: Once you’ve got the basics down, you can dive into the fun part—adding hearts, rosettas, or even more detailed designs that make customers pause before they take a sip.
Coffee Bean Knowledge: The journey doesn’t stop at the espresso bar. You’ll explore where different beans come from, what flavors they can deliver, and how to pick the freshest supply.
Customer Service Skills: Crafting great coffee is only half the job; making people feel welcome with a smile, an extra question about their day, or honest drink advice is what keeps them coming back.
Advanced Brewing Techniques: From the precise grind of a pour-over to the showy gear of siphon brewing and the refreshing chill of cold brew, you’ll experiment with methods that wow the craft-coffee crowd.
With this kind of training under your belt, you won’t just keep up in a busy café—you’ll begin to set the standard for what real, memorable coffee should taste like.
Level Up with Barista Classes in Kathmandu
If you live in Kathmandu and want to turn your coffee curiosity into a job, enrolling in a barista class is the smartest first move. Places like Galaxy Training Institute run thorough courses that guide you from brewing your first cup to pulling stunning latte art.
You’ll pick up practical know-how, of course, but you’ll also step into a lively community that’s expanding every day. As more cafés pop up around the valley, the need for talented baristas who make great drinks and brighten the customer’s visit keeps growing. Train at one of the city’s respected schools, and you’ll find yourself riding that wave of opportunity.
Wrap-Up: Brew Your Way to a Better Life
When people talk about the whole “barista vibe,” they’re not just raving about latte art. It’s really about turning something you love into a job that feels less like work and more like a way of life. Between inventing new drinks, swapping stories with regulars, and picking up fresh skills every shift, working behind the counter can feel both creative and surprising.
If you wake up each morning dreaming about coffee, thinking through fresh recipes, and picturing yourself chatting with customers instead of sitting in a cubicle, maybe it’s time to make that daydream a real gig. Sign up for a solid training course, dive headfirst into the culture, and let your passion start steaming toward success.

Fellow Ode Brew Grinder
The Fellow Ode Brew Grinder: A Game Changer for Home Coffee Enthusiasts
For anyone who takes their morning coffee seriously, the grinder is more than just a tool — it’s the foundation of the entire brewing process. And for many home brewers who seek café-quality results without stepping outside, the Fellow Ode Brew Grinder has emerged as a standout. Designed with precision, style, and convenience in mind, the Ode isn’t just another grinder; it’s a statement piece that performs as good as it looks.
From the moment you unbox the Fellow Ode, you’re struck by its modern, minimal design. Its matte black or white exterior, compact form, and angular edges reflect the aesthetics of a high-end kitchen appliance rather than a traditional coffee grinder. But this grinder isn't all looks. Fellow has built a machine with the needs of dedicated coffee lovers at its core. Whether you're making a single cup of pour-over or preparing your morning French press, the Ode is designed to give you exceptional grind consistency and control.
One of the most notable features of the Ode is its flat burrs. Unlike conical burr grinders commonly found in home setups, flat burrs are often preferred in professional settings due to their ability to deliver more consistent grind sizes. The Ode uses 64mm stainless steel flat burrs, which are larger than what you typically find in a home grinder. These burrs provide greater surface area, allowing for faster grinding without excessive heat — and that means your coffee retains its flavor integrity from bean to brew.
The grind adjustment dial on the Ode is another highlight. It features 31 stepped settings that cover a wide range of brew methods, excluding espresso. This grinder is optimized for brewed coffee: think pour-over, AeroPress, drip, cold brew, and French press. While it doesn't grind fine enough for espresso, that’s not its intended use, and what it does, it does incredibly well. Each click on the dial corresponds to a noticeable change in grind size, making it easy to replicate your favorite brews day after day.
In terms of workflow, the Ode is delightfully quiet and fast. Grinding for a single cup of pour-over takes just a few seconds. The motor is tuned for lower RPMs, which helps reduce noise and static buildup — a welcome touch for those early morning routines. Fellow has even included a clever "grinds knocker" on the side, allowing you to tap out any remaining grounds from the chute and minimize retention. It’s small features like this that make the Ode feel like it was designed by people who actually make coffee every day.
Retention is a common issue in many grinders, particularly those in the home category. But Fellow took this challenge seriously with the Ode. With its single-dose design, you only grind what you need, and there’s minimal leftover ground coffee stuck inside the machine. The result is a more accurate brew ratio and fresher coffee. This design choice not only keeps your workflow tidy but also speaks to the growing trend among coffee enthusiasts who prefer single-dosing over hopper storage for freshness.
The Ode’s hopper is intentionally compact, holding about 80 grams of coffee — enough for most daily brews but small enough to encourage single-dosing. And while that may seem like a limitation to some, it’s actually a deliberate decision that prioritizes freshness and precision. Keeping beans in an airtight container and dosing as needed ensures you're always grinding just what you need when you need it.
Fellow also made cleaning the Ode surprisingly easy. The flat burrs are accessible with minimal disassembly, and the magnetically aligned catch cup pops out smoothly. The clean, open design means fewer nooks and crannies for grounds to hide in. Maintenance is part of any coffee routine, and the Ode’s intuitive construction makes this often-neglected step a bit more approachable.
A more recent development in the Ode lineup is the Ode Gen 2, which introduced updated burr geometry and some minor tweaks to improve overall performance. Users reported better clarity in their cups, even more consistent grind distribution, and an improved user experience. While the original Ode already delivered exceptional quality for home brewers, the Gen 2 elevated the experience even further — a testament to Fellow’s commitment to evolving their products based on community feedback.
But no product is without its limitations. As mentioned earlier, the Ode isn’t designed for espresso. If you're looking for a grinder that can handle everything from French press to a double shot of ristretto, you’ll want to look elsewhere. However, if brewed coffee is your main focus, the Ode is arguably one of the best options available in the premium home grinder space.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Fellow Ode isn’t the cheapest grinder on the market. Priced above entry-level options, it sits comfortably in the mid-to-high-end range. But for what it offers — from premium materials to commercial-grade burrs, thoughtful ergonomics, and a design that fits seamlessly in a modern kitchen — many would argue it delivers excellent value.

Automatic Coffee Machine: The Ultimate Home Upgrade
Tumblr media
If you're a coffee lover or simply someone who needs a caffeine boost to kickstart the day, investing in an automatic coffee machine could be one of the smartest moves you make. These machines are not just about convenience—they're about transforming your entire coffee experience. Whether you're brewing a latte in your kitchen or offering cappuccinos in the office, an automatic coffee machine delivers quality, consistency, and satisfaction in every cup.
In this post, we'll explore the benefits of owning an automatic coffee machine, how it works, and what to look for when choosing the best model for your needs.
What Is an Automatic Coffee Machine?
An automatic coffee machine is a smart appliance that handles the entire coffee-making process for you. From grinding fresh coffee beans to frothing milk and dispensing the final cup, these machines are designed to deliver barista-quality drinks at the touch of a button. Most automatic models include features such as:
Built-in coffee grinders
Programmable brew strength and temperature
Milk frothing systems for lattes and cappuccinos
Touchscreen controls or app connectivity
Self-cleaning cycles
Automatic coffee machines are ideal for homes, offices, and commercial environments where convenience and consistency matter most.
Benefits of Using an Automatic Coffee Machine
1. Convenience at Your Fingertips
The biggest advantage of an automatic coffee machine is its ease of use. With one touch, you can brew espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato, or even long black coffee—no barista skills required. Many models also allow you to program your favorite drink so it's ready exactly how you like it every time.
2. Consistent, Barista-Style Coffee
Unlike manual brewing methods, an automatic coffee machine ensures consistent pressure, grind, and brew time. This means every cup you make tastes just like your last—rich, aromatic, and full of flavor.
3. Fresh Coffee Every Time
With a built-in grinder, automatic coffee machines use whole beans and grind them just before brewing. This preserves the coffee’s natural oils and delivers a fresher, more robust flavor than pre-ground coffee.
4. Cost Savings Over Time
While an automatic coffee machine may seem like a big upfront investment, it can save you money in the long run—especially if you regularly buy takeaway coffee. The cost per cup made at home or the office is significantly lower than a café-bought beverage.
5. Perfect for Busy Workplaces
In a busy office, time is money. An automatic coffee machine allows staff and visitors to grab quality coffee quickly without queuing at the nearest café. It’s a great way to boost morale and productivity.
Features to Look for in the Best Automatic Coffee Machines
When shopping for an automatic coffee machine, consider the following features to get the most value:
Grinder Type: Ceramic grinders are quieter and more durable than steel.
Water Tank Capacity: A larger tank means less frequent refills.
Milk Frothing System: Choose between manual frothing wands and automatic milk carafes.
Drink Variety: Some machines offer over 10 beverage options.
Ease of Cleaning: Look for models with automatic cleaning and descaling functions.
App Connectivity: Control your brew from your smartphone for added convenience.
Top Brands Known for Automatic Coffee Machines
Several trusted brands have built a reputation for high-quality automatic coffee machines. These include:
De’Longhi – Known for durable and stylish machines with smart features.
Jura – Swiss-engineered machines with exceptional design and customization options.
Saeco – Offers great value for money and reliable performance.
Breville – Ideal for home users looking for precision and aesthetics.
Automatic Coffee Machines Vs Manual Espresso Machines
While manual espresso machines offer more control and a traditional barista experience, they require skill and time. Automatic coffee machines, on the other hand, are perfect for those who want great coffee fast without any hassle. They're user-friendly, efficient, and great for households or offices with multiple coffee drinkers.
Conclusion: Is an Automatic Coffee Machine Worth It?
Absolutely. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or simply need a quick morning pick-me-up, an automatic coffee machine is a worthy investment. It blends convenience, quality, and variety into one compact appliance. With the ability to brew café-style drinks in seconds, these machines are transforming how we enjoy coffee—at home and at work.
So if you're ready to say goodbye to inconsistent brews and expensive coffee runs, now’s the time to invest in a high-quality automatic coffee machine.

MOTHRA Institution, The Eleven Counselors — 04, Dr. Maicon Sabino

HIGH-RANKING FILE – MOTHRA INSTITUTION
The Eleven Counselors — 0-4 | "Dr. Maicon Sabino"
Name: Maicon Sabino
Position: Scientist, Director of Cosmic Anomalies, Counselor 0-4 of the Eleven Counselors of MOTHRA
Access Card Level: Level 5
Physical Profile:
• Height: 2.03 meters
• Estimated Weight: 100kg (phantom floating mass, difficult to read with common instruments)
• Composition: Skeletal structure of unknown origin, resembling a human skeleton but composed of highly resistant material
• Cranium: Circular opening at the top of the skull, origin unknown

Dr. Maicon wears a dark suit over a purple shirt and purple tie, which he considers to be “aesthetically aligned” with himself. His style is always formal, with an impeccably tailored appearance, disciplined both inside and outside the lab. He’s often seen adjusting the cuffs of his shirt despite lacking muscles — a gesture that seems more like a tic.
He is the institution’s leading expert in Cosmic Anomalies, reality fractures, dimensional rifts, and entities operating outside linear time. He also studies transcendent phenomena, including spatial manifestations that defy classical concepts of matter, space, or science.
Due to his interest in "Kaiju" aesthetics — in pop culture, films, and beyond — he is also part of the Anomalous Megafauna Containment Committee, with a special interest in the manifestation and mutation patterns of such creatures. He leads experiments in gravitational chambers, simulated space-times, studies of non-human civilizations, and extradimensional objects with ontological collapse risk.

His office is decorated with paintings of extinct constellations, a sculpture of a black hole made of black resin, books with erased titles, and a locked cabinet with esoteric warning symbols that requires triple authorization from high command to open.

How Much Does It Cost to Open a Coffee Shop Franchise in India?
Tumblr media
India has witnessed a booming coffee culture in recent years, with the rise of coffee franchises like Café Coffee Day, Starbucks, and now more traditional and regional outlets like Kumbakonam Degree Coffee. Starting a coffee shop franchise in India is a lucrative business opportunity, but it is essential to understand the associated costs to make informed decisions.
Key Factors Influencing Coffee Shop Franchise Costs
1.Franchise Fee: One of the most significant upfront costs for opening a coffee shop franchise is the franchise fee. This fee gives the entrepreneur the right to operate under the brand name and access the company’s established operational practices and support. Depending on the brand, franchise fees can vary significantly. For example, established brands like Starbucks can charge crores of rupees for a franchise license, while smaller, regional brands like Kumbakonam Degree Coffee might have much more affordable fees, ranging from ₹5 lakhs to ₹10 lakhs.
2.Location: Another crucial factor is the location of your coffee shop. Prime locations such as high streets, shopping malls, or commercial hubs in metro cities command higher rent compared to smaller towns or less commercial areas. Rent can range from ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakhs per month in tier 1 cities, and it can be significantly lower in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. The right location is essential to ensure footfall, as accessibility, visibility, and proximity to busy areas will drive your business.
3.Interior and Setup: A large chunk of your investment will be allocated to setting up the shop itself. The ambiance and aesthetics are critical for coffee shops, as the environment often dictates how long customers stay and how much they spend. The interior design, furniture, décor, lighting, and branding all come into play. For a decent coffee shop, the interior costs can range from ₹3 lakhs to ₹10 lakhs, depending on the size and concept.
4.Equipment: A coffee shop requires a significant investment in equipment. This includes espresso machines, grinders, refrigerators, blenders, and other kitchen appliances. High-end coffee machines can cost anywhere from ₹1.5 lakhs to ₹4 lakhs. Besides the coffee-making equipment, you’ll need tables, chairs, and a point-of-sale (POS) system. Overall, the equipment cost can total anywhere from ₹3 lakhs to ₹8 lakhs.
5.Initial Inventory: Stocking up on raw materials like coffee beans, milk, sugar, cups, and other consumables is a must. For a small coffee shop, the initial inventory can cost around ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakhs. Brands like Kumbakonam Degree Coffee, which specialize in authentic filter coffee, will require a regular supply of high-quality coffee beans, often sourced from specific regions.
6.Staffing: Depending on the size and location of the coffee shop, you will need to hire staff. Salaries for baristas, servers, and other staff members can range from ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 per month for each employee. For a mid-sized shop, having 4 to 5 employees is typical, which means staffing costs will account for around ₹40,000 to ₹1 lakh monthly.
Kumbakonam Degree Coffee Franchise
Kumbakonam Degree Coffee has gained significant popularity as it taps into the cultural and traditional roots of South Indian coffee drinking. Opening a Kumbakonam Degree Coffee franchise is a more affordable option compared to international brands. The initial investment for this franchise is around ₹10 lakhs, which includes the franchise fee, setup costs, and equipment. The brand has a strong appeal due to its authenticity, and it is particularly popular in South India. Entrepreneurs interested in a regional brand with a rich heritage find Kumbakonam Degree Coffee to be an excellent choice, especially for areas with a large South Indian population or where there is a demand for high-quality traditional filter coffee.
Conclusion
Opening a coffee shop franchise in India is a rewarding venture, but it requires careful planning and investment. Costs vary depending on the brand, location, and scale of the shop. While larger franchises require hefty investments, brands like Kumbakonam Degree Coffee offer more accessible options for entrepreneurs looking to bring authentic coffee experiences to their customers. Depending on your budget and location, a coffee shop franchise can be started with an investment ranging from ₹8 lakhs to ₹12 lakhs or more, ensuring profitability in the ever-growing coffee culture of India.
