Hey hun I just had a thought but befor I follow through with it, alot of people have been criticizing the killmonger haircut being used too much, is there something deeper then that to it or is that the jist of it
Both? Like, that IS the gist of it but there is a broader conversation to be had.
So to start off so we’re all on the same page, the reason why combover dreads are called Killmonger Dreads is because Killmonger is the most prominent character in recent memory to have them and the amount of characters to have that cut increased a lot since Black Panther came out.
So the reason why black audiences have been criticizing character designers (primarily in video games) for defaulting to the combover dreads is intertwined with a critique we’ve been making for much longer: the lack of variety in hairstyles for black characters.
youtube
As the video showed, satirical though it may be, for a lot of black gamers, if we wanted to make a black-looking character, we would only get a buzzcut, an Afro, or MAYBE some cornrows. That was it, and some games didn’t even have that.
So at first when we saw video game characters rocking the combover dreads, we were cool with it. Dreadlocks were historically characterized as “dirty”, “unkempt” or otherwise unattractive hairstyles (three guesses as to why that is), so we were all for video games normalizing them.
But then they did literally nothing else.
Instead of this being a gateway to explore more hairstyles for black characters, we just went from having 3 default settings to 4.
It was even more annoying when characters that were ALREADY known for having dreads inexplicably get their perfectly fine locks changed to the combover style.
Tumblr media
Do a quick google search and you’ll find a PLETHORA of styles you can put dreadlocks in.
To put it in perspective: the TERF wizard game has better options for black hair than most games that came out the same year. The TERF wizard game, y’all.
The bar was in hell.
And I say was, because, to end on an optimistic note, I do believe that we’re turning a corner. The Twitter account @/blackhairinvg makes posts showing off the different black hairstyles in various video games from indie to AAA. Dragon’s Dogma 2 gave us 7 (Capcom in general has been getting better and better tbh. Both Monster Hunter Rise and Street Fighter 6 had great options too), and Guild Wars 2 gave us over 20! I think we’re on the right track, and while we may get jumpsared with the combover dreads every now and then, I think video games are getting better with this.
I think the dark ages might be behind us. Cause we were down bad at one point.

I need to do an Intro on here so err
Hi! I'm Sunny, I decided to move from Twitter (X) to here due to many reasons but to the main parts!
DNI!!!
Any friends or supporters of Smg4Fan42 (Smg) - reason why is they're an ex-friend i had severe drama with back in around March 2024 to about August 2024. They are (as I'm aware) An art thief (tried to steal designs i wanted back), Doxxer (evidence of), Manipulator, Mental Illness faker, and overall a liar. There is an entire Rentry callout on them for anyone who wants to be more aware about them. They have as the following - Discord, Somewhat rarely active youtube acc, X account and thats all ik of, one of my reasons i came here is to escape them.
Art thiefs
AI art users
Transphobic, Homophobic, gen anyone who hates LGBT
Trump supporters (u know why)
Anybody who thinks abuse, s3xu4l assault etc is "fun"
Gen anything thats bad I can think of
BYI!!
I am not aware of any past drama within the TPC comm. Do not talk to me about it
I'm partially deaf, to those who may vc with me anywhere, I will say "huh" or "what" a lot, be patient, my deafness was caused by a in-ear deformity
I can be (possibly) extremely reactive to anything negative, that means with great anger, I apologize, I've developed this due to my ex-friend
Along with extremely reactive, I can get very emotional, a lot of this stuff is from past drama that has left me scarred
I curse a lot and also use tone tags a lot, lmk if ur not comfortable with any of that
I play games a lot along with draw (also school and family things), so I may not respond sometimes, I apologize for that
ONTO THE MAIN PART!
I'm into the fandoms of the following:
TPC (The Pink Corruption)
Just Shapes and Beats (JSaB)
Phighting! (P!) [Slowly slipping away from fandom for reasons]
Dandys World (DW) [Only playing the game for fun]
Madness Combat (MadCom)
Pressure
Doors
And many more that I am NOT listing
I do some of the following:
Draw Art (90% digitally, 10% Traditionally)
Play games (Roblox is the main)
Listen to Spotify
Talk to friends (obv)
I am Transgender (FtM), Gay (proudly), and love my family (not my dad fuck him). I also have DID/OSDD, but preferably just call me Sunny on all socials I'm active on.
NOTE!!!!
I moved to TPC as a way to escape the drama my ex-friend caused, meaning I see this fandom as not my most favorite, but as a comfort place as well. I came here to finally find new people to talk to and leave everything behind.
I tend to give characters a lot of hcs, so if anything weirds you out, all I'm gonna say is ignore it, cuz few hcs may be real stuff I've dealt/deal with.
I do have my own characters to make art of, but I rarely do, even if I do it might be doodles or reference sheets for them.
EXTRA
I tend to get confused alot, pls excuse that
I am a MINOR! (15), but that doesn't mean I won't do most things older people will do. I apologize for that. Still keep the minor thing in mind
I have a lovely older brother [FtM] (and younger brother but he ain't relevant) I may reference to sometimes as either Zolo or Austyn, they do not have Tumblr but I've been trying to get them to get it
I have a lovely Manx cat named Spade, I've had her for about a year now since August 2023. I also have 2 dogs, one a Blue Pitbull named Bluex (pronounced Blue) and an unknown breed dog named Pinky (she's a rescue off the streets)
I draw on Ibis with just my finger! I'm way too poor to afford a fancy drawing tablet
Commission Status:
Currently on! Only accepting payments via CashApp. Message me for information, though I will not do
Anything 18+
Anything related to abuse, s3xu4l assault etc
Anything political and/or relating to any real life wars/conflicts (EX: Ukraine Russian War)

FUN FACTS!
Longest time it took me to do an Artwork was 6 hours, nothing has went over as far as I'm aware)
I'm sound and touch sensitive, it has not been proven if I'm autistic or not.
I've lived in only two areas in my entire life. Not sharing

Kamaboko squad - Band AU
My headcanons for if the Kamaboko squad were in a band in a modern au. Plus 2 extra characters at the end.
Requests are always open/welcomed!
Enjoy :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
■ Tanjiro
- Tanjiro would be the lead guitarist of the band as well as the band leader. He'd be the one to book events for them and make sure everything is prepared for their next show.
- He also is the one to make the practice schedules for everyone, making it so that it works with each member's free time perfectly.
■ Inosuke
- Inosuke for sure would be the drummer. It would definitely be the best choice as he can use it to release all his pent up energy or frustration during shows or practices.
- It's also a good choice for him as he doesn't have to memorize specifics, like notes and/or lyrics, just the beat of the songs. When on stage, Inosuke likes to give the audience a little show sometimes by doing tricks with his drumsticks and showcasing his flexibility between sets, to keep the audience hyped. And to show off a little.
■ Kanao
- I feel like Kanao wouldn't be on stage but more of an unseen to the public kind of member, matching her more quiet nature. She would be the one to write some of the songs alongside Muichiro, but mostly deals with managing the band.
- She'd work with Tanjiro to secure bookings and venues and handles the band's finances. Kanao also handles the paperwork involved with handling their merch and doling out everyone's paychecks.
■ Genya
- I think Genya would be the band's bassist. I feel like he would enjoy playing that instrument the most. It's not an 'in your face' type position in the band, like a singer or drummer but isn't a forgotten one either.
- I also think that Genya, like Inosuke, would sometimes show off to the crowd by playing the bass behind his back, keeping their interest. Also showing of his skills. Because of this, I think he and Inosuke compete to see who can impress the crowd more every performance.
■ Nezuko
- Nezuko is a singer alongside Zenitsu. They sing together on stage alot and is usually the one to get the audience engaged in some songs, like getting them to clap or sing along.
- I feel like she'd also be the one to design and coordinate everyone outs fits for each show they do. I think Nezuko'd be really good at fashion and she knows how to dress everyone in their respective styles and still have them look coordinated and in theme. Nezuko also helps Muichiro in making merch designs before handing them to Kanao.
■ Muichiro
- Muichiro is another one that I think would do better not in the public view due to his quiet nature. He mostly works on songwriting and creating merch designs.
- He also forgets the practice days a lot so they usually have it at his house, plus he has the space for it. If they have a particularly big show and the ticket sales and preparations get a little bit hectic, Muichiro will often help Kanao in dealing with it.
■ Zenitsu
- I see Zenitsu as the lead singer alongside Nezuko. With his much he can scream in the show, I think it's a good fit. Plus with his great hearing he can differentiate between pitches and keys to sing in.
- Out of all of them I think that Zenitsu is the one to be the most engaged with the fans out side of at shows. Like at meet and greets or just having fans come up to him on the street, I feel like he is less cautious about it and just gets super excited to meet everyone. His excitement goes through the roof, especially when girls come upto him.
[EXTRA]
■ Giyuu and Sanemi
- These two would be the bodyguards. They make sure that fans don't get too rowdy during shows and meet n greets, as well as make sure no one steps out of line. They both take their job very seriously and haven't really had any accidents with fans. Most fans are very respectful to the band and its space but whenever a fan decides to break a boundary, these to are on it in an instant.
- Giyuu became their bodyguard since he's close family friends with the Kamado's when they were growing up. He thought it would be a great way to support them and make sure they stay safe in the entertainment industry. Plus with how he doesn't show that much emotion to others in public and acts closed off a lot, it helps him have the silent and intimidating look for his position.
- Sanemi became their bodyguard mostly to keep watch over Genya. With him being his only living sibling he didn't want Genya to be in any sort of danger, especially since being in a band gains a lot of public attention, not all of it positive. When realizing that participating in the band was what Genya really wanted to do, Sanemi agreed on the condition that he'd be their bodyguard. At first, he didn't like the idea and especially didn't like Tanjiro, blaming him for giving his brother the idea of being in the band, but after a while he warmed up to the idea and to the others, seeing how they all cared for one another and seeing how happy Genya was, doing this with his friends.
- Both Giyuu and Sanemi became bodyguard for the band at the same time but only became somewhat friends after 2 years. At first, Sanemi didn't like how closed off Giyuu was, thinking that he was looking down on him. Giyuu on the other hand, thought Sanemi was too aggressive and didn't like how he spoke to the other members. Eventually though, they warmed up to each other and became friends, bonding over the fact that they both want to keep the teens safe.
- Eventhough both are intimidating when doing their job, they also have fans of their own. Many of the band's fans are also fans of them and try to get pictures or autographs or their phone numbers. Sanemi and Giyuu decline their efforts which has led to many of the fans thinking they are together. Is this rumor true.....? Welp, we'll never know.
I just want to start off by saying you're an amazing artist, and I love your work. You inspire! I just wanted to ask how you got so good at character designing? Also, aren't there any tips, tricks, or tutorials you could recommend to us?
Sorry for taking so long to reply to this ask. I wanted to really make sure I took my time to anwser it the best I could!
I wanted first to say thank you so much! You are my first ask ever and it makes me so happy to see someone enjoy my work and designs! Sometimes I feel like I am not doing my best. So hearing this is reassuring. Makes me remeber why I turn my words of it being not good to I will do better and learn more for next time.
How I got good at designs? Oh heavens, mostly perseverance! Though what I list below are all things I have learned or do which have helped me on my journey. Though by no means do I think I am great or done said quest. I am always growing and always learning. Art is a cute little plant. It may take awhile to grow. Sometimes its hard to tell if its even grown at all. Eventually though, you will start to notice changes. For awhile youll just have a green stem and that can be discouraging. If you keep at it though and keep learning, it'll grow and at somepoint it will be a flower. You just have to keep at it and know when it needs a break vs when to keep watering it.
Ok ok ok, so I am going to explain this all so horribly and using how I think of art and its terms. So take this all with a huge grain of salt and I am so sorry if none of it makes sense. I tried though ok? Not to mention I could say a whole lot more but my tumblr hates me! So here is just ones that I like to focus on myself alot. Ack also sorry for so many spelling an grammar errors. It is not something I am good at.
Starting with the basics:
1. Designs are not permanent. If you make one and it dosent feel right just make another! Do not like the second one and you liked the first one more? Well good news, you do not have to commit to it. Art is a process of iteration and trying out wacky, weird, and new things. As you grow, your style and characters will grow with you. Its only normal to have them grow out of their old look and into new ones or to go through phases of changing them constantly. Its rare for me to have an oc who has always been the same.
2. Try new things! Sometimes you can be surprised by what you can make when taking inspiration for things you do not nromally like. Maybe that one dress you saw isnt your style, but parts of it IS your characters style. So why not incorporate something simmilar. Hmmm or maybe you are feeling stuck, take a walk outside and challange yourself to make an outfit based on something you saw or a pallet you liked. Henry as an example, pallet is based on the mesa in minecraft. While his clock cape was based on me trying to play with new cape styles and looking at a cool clock in Prague.
3. Practice and study. In extention to the last two, over all you just want to keep on trying and practicing by making a bunch of designs for random ideas you do not plan to keep so you can slowly develoup your own style patterns, see what looks good, etc. They also extend and touch on alot of looking at things and studying what you like. Its bothersome sometimes, but outfits and how they are made usually have alot of history and meaning behind them. For example, each and every cut and shape for a suit has its own unique name. As do differe ties, swimsuits, shoes, and so forth. Knowing the names and shapes can help you tailor an outfit to fit a character by their personality, match the event its for, be time period correct, culturally accurate, etc. Its usually sublte differneces, but they can go along way.
More things to note:
1. If the character is made for a story, then keeping the designs of their friends, foils, rivels, and so forth in mind can create a lovely dynamic between them all. One of my friends is much better at this then me, but there are many ways to do it. Inverting pallets, contrating pallets, making one top heavy and the other bottom heavy, having one have lines and having the other include simmilar lines, and so forth. It creates balanace or contrast among groups or duos which can be very visually fun.
An example of it is Vox and Alastor. Both have pinstripe suits, both have claws, big sharp caniving grins, have the same collar shape with coloured trim, both wear bows, have shoes with defined heels, etc. This connects them together in many ways. However, they are eachothers rivals and contrast eachother directly in many ways as well. Alastor has a more harmonic red pallet while vox has a strong vibrant and contrast filled blue pallet, Alastor wears a torn coat while Vox's is clean and fresh looking, the more obvious note is one is based on tv and the other is radio, one wears his suit open while the other keeps it closed off. Each aspect both defines how they are the same and how they differ. Vox is more presentable as he is on video, he is also newer, much like the medium of tv while radio does not need such things. Vox is more boisterous and less uptight formal then alistor, which can be reflected in what they pair their suit with. You can also see while Alastor has less of a care for Vox, Vox cares alot about Alastor's plans and so forth. This is somewhat also seen in their outfits as Vox contains the red of Alastor in his pallet while Alastor does not contain Vox's primary colour in his. One may also use this to assume that one of them is trying to mimic the other.
Point being, their design brings them together and allows people to tell they are related in some way plot wise but still makes sure to define their differences.
2. Motifs are your friend! Having a symbol, colour, pattern, and so forth spread throughout the whole design can make it feel more put together and harmonic as well as can tell you alot about the character them self. When I first learned about it my teacher used D.Va from overwatch as an example as her motif is a bunny. She and the mech have little metal bits from the top or ears that mimic a bunny. She has paint on her face that resemble whiskers. Her outfit has alot of white in it and often features the symbol of a bunny. Her mech has digitigrade legs. In some versions of her design alot of the white is on the legs drawing your attention to it, legs being a very notable feature of a rabit due to how they hop. Over all in one way or another it appears in her and her mechs design via shapes, colours, and more.
3. Primary, secondary, and accent colours. In outfit design and general art in the begining it can be helpful to follow this structure when making outfits. The primary colour of the design. The one most prominent, though it does not have to be the most notible colour, just the most common. The secondary is the second most common colour. Some designs will make this the more bold colour while the primary acts as a base to it. The accent colours help brake up the flow of the rest of the design and add a bit of spice. There is usually 1 or 2. Looking to Kazuha from Genshin Impact, the primary is a brown base, with a bold red as the secondary. Ontop they put a striking orange to give the eyes more then just deep reds to look at and a pale light blondish gray range to brake up the larger colour blocking flow. Each colour is important as part of the design as without his accent colours, he would look muddy and bland, but without the brown primary, he would be too bold and saturated for the eyes. Each colour is used to balance the others out and create a nice visual intrest and dance.
There is something important to note about it all however and that is placement balance. This also applies to motifs and patterns. You want them typically to show up in more then one location on the outfit. While this mainly applies to accents, due to how little they tend to cross the design, it does effect primary and secondary colours as well. The reason it is important to have them show up in more then one location is due to over all untiy of the design. Unless you want it to stand out as the one and only thing like it on the character, it should be something framillier to the design. If the red is only in the eyes on an otherwise nlue character, then the eyes will be noticed as the mist striking detail. However if you place it on the sleeves or add it to the shoelaces of the character as well, then the red tends to blend in more and the eyes will become less focused on and feel more like they are part of the design rather then the main focus. Though breaking this intentonally is a fast way to draw attention to an area. Though having a level of balance, harmony, and untiy to your design in this way will make it feel less disjointed and less random.
Tumblr is starting to break for me while typing this, so Ill be a bit faster. As mentioned the same thing applies to Motifs. If a character wears strips, it can be helpful to work in steipes on more then just the shirt to creat a harmonic flow to the outfit. Like adding stright strip like shoe laces or 3 parallel hairclips. That way subconsiously no matter where the viewer looks they see unifying strips. Either drilling stripes into their mind or making them feel welcomed on the design. Though again in some cases it can also be just as effective to ignore this intentonally. Though if you do, I recommend having a different pattern throughout the outfit or different harmonizing colours so that the 1 different thing sticks out more and breaks thr pattern.
4. Silhouettes are very important. Now there is alot to note about Silhouettes. 1 is you want the characters to be recognizable by silhouette. This is often done by creating unique shapes for them each or by something unique about how they pose and stand compared to others. Most only bring up the shapes aspect, however I think posing is just as important into convaying a caharter and their design. Just look at L for an example, you can tell its him just by how he sits. Though if you want a good example of the shapes helping define characters, steven universe has very unique Silhouettes compared to eachother and can easily be identified without seeing any other parts.
There is also another fun thing regarding Silhouettes that I try to do sometimes when it comes to helping me balance colour and its taking a page out of the team fortress notebook. My original teacher used them and their basic colour blocked silhouettes to explain readability. The part the players most need to see on the charcater, the area of intrest, is the brightest so their weapon stands out agienst their outfit while the rest is darker. She had a wonderful visual for it but I cant find it anymore. However, when making a design or focusing on their colours and how to lay them out. It can be worth while to do a very basic black and white vesrion so you can see where to put various degrees of contrast into the design. It may help make your designs feel less cluttered or more accessible.
A sourse that touches on a memtioned topic:
Readability in game designs, Overwatch vs TF2:
Ill make another post with referances and more stuff to read on a later date but I felt so bad delaying this as much as I have!
Congrats on finishing shin Jeeg it’s great 👏 I’m currently rewatching it with my partner so I thought I’d let you in on some trivia regarding the entire Kyo lore reveal in ep 10. (Note this is info I got from a friend as it regards toei Jeeg, and I only read the manga before watching shin just to get to know hiroshi and miwa a bit)
Kyos entire character was ripped from a one off ep of toei Jeeg where a villain redeemed himself, expect it was tweaked a lot in shin. Mainly, himika and him were not aliens and rather from the underground, nor did he have a tie to the bronze bells or even have a sister. (From what I friend told me, they added that part in because he did have feelings for Miwa or something, but also probably did it just bc of the twist with Kenji regaridng this) not sure what his OG design looked like but I imagine it’s crust given toei but afaik other then this what they did take was Balba as well.
So yeah idk if you saw any Jeeg stuff prior esp given toei is pretty long but I thought I’d give this insight because the change is super interesting. (Also if you somehow didn’t hear lol, shin Jeeg was directed by Jun Kawagoe, man responsible for arma after ep 4, the other two getter ovas and the recenter getter anime. He is such a talented directed and I think putting aside new getter shin Jeeg is truly one of his best works)
Also sorry if this is lengthy again my autism went BRRRR because no one really gives shin Jeeg enough attention but it’s my second fav mecha after getter 😭
To start, congratulations! you are the first person to ever send anything to my inbox!
anyway-
I went into shin jeeg with as little info as possible. I saw like three episodes of Toei Jeeg beforehand to get aquainted with some characters and thats it
I was planning on watching Toei Jeeg casually (next to Getter Robo G) later this year so it will be exiting to run into the inspiration behind Kyou's origins among other things that went to inspire shin jeeg
Toei crust is the best kind of crust (also good to know Baruba is in the toei original! I liked the big kitty)
Thank you a whole lot for the trivia!! I apreciate it alot!
Dont apologize for the lengthy ask, I enjoy reading this kind of stuff a whole lot!
thank you!
(ima be real with you... I had no idea Jun Kawagoe directed this lmao
I keep accidentally running into his stuff and thats not going to stop any time soon
I do have Mazinkaiser SKL planed for this year lol)
As was predicted since at least a week after Elimination Chamber, Cargill vs. Naomi has been officially added to this year's 'Mania card and at this point this grudge match is the most interesting program the WWE Women's Division has going for itself at the Show of Shows. RAW might want to take notes since there's been a grudge match brewing over there since Ripley and Belair were in NXT. The introduction to the officialization behind Cargill v. Naomi for 'Mania was genius. B-Fab had a singles contest against Naomi, oddly without Michin accompanying her to the ring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She showed off that she has her own Rock Bottom in the tuck for a signature that was good for a two-count, but still underdeveloped, Fab relied on her height advantage and got caught in the ropes when her one of her legs did not completely clear the top turnbuckle in the process of an astronomically high roundhouse.
Naomi took advantage of B-Fab's naivete, positioning her in the corner, catching her in a tree of woe and following that with a boot.
Tumblr media
Naomi then revealed she has a hanging Codebreaker in her attache that she calls a modified lung blower, and the result blew Fab out the match. A solid back and forth, both women helped to put the other over. Both known over each of their careers to be frequent jobbers, I like how WWE Creative designed the match to help advance both of these women's characters so they each have some history to revisit once 'Mania season is over, should Cargill v. Naomi be a one-off.
Tumblr media
The animosity between the two looks like this grudge can continue for a couple of PLE's though, as once Naomi called out Cargill, Cargill came busting out of nowhere with a big boot that hit like a Jack off Tekken with a gatling gun punch !
Tumblr media
As the year's go by, it's like Cargill's kicks just cover more distance, as if juggling Naomi, Cargill swiftly grabbed her 'Mania opponent for a Jaded that was halted by security much to the Chicago leg of the WWE Universe's disappointment.
Tumblr media
Security got served some deserved licks because of this from Cargill and then out strolls the SD GM to announce the updated 'Mania card now with Cargill and Naomi firmly cemented to be a must-watch contest at this year's 'Mania.
Tumblr media
While Stratton attempts to gain confidence on the mic to get some heat for the brand's Women's Championship match backfire, Creative has made a game move to go the other way on the lower card and allow Cargill and Naomi to let their fists do the talking. The only misstep in this whole program was when Naomi explained her motives to Belair, but with Belair now preoccupied with her own 'Mania storyline, Naomi and Cargill's chemistry in the ring hasn't left alot of room for words to be exchanged. This is what detractors in the WWE Universe often claim to crave - more violence with the cost of less promos. With Belair playing ref earlier in the week and Stratton and Flair not having come to blows in at most a month, it's fascinating to see Cargill and Naomi have the purest pro-wrestling match teased for Wrestlemania.
Tumblr media
That's a lot of trust to put in these two, but each of these women are proven vets in the industry - inside and out of a WWE ring. Won't be a shocker if these women end up with match of the night once all is said and done in April.
Anonymous asked:
Fan fic anon here, after doing work on Benfreit I’ve been having some mini bouts of inspiration for two divine characters as of late and I though I’d share them. Coming from two older fic’s and giving them characterization. I present Aldorf Hosfeild: Divine of Monsters, and Cian: Divine of Faith.
Hosfeild has always been a man of business, mainly dealing in the exotic animal trade. Having owned many pet store chains, breeding businesses and registries, maybe some endangered animal smuggling rings here and their? He even operated a high end poffle breeding operation, though according to reports these creatures where heavily inbred, to the point of coming in five colors and couldn’t stop peeing. I still undecided on how he died, but I’m thinking it had to do with assassination.
This made the dworf divine the perfect candidate for Mr. Husk “personal” project with the creation of the Nekos. Having made several calls and destroyed tons of records Hosfeild completely divorced his name and scrubbed all traces of his involvement in the cat girls creation and set his sights on more ambitious projects. He clung to the designer monster idea, a great use for his new found monster forging skills and a market nobody had yet to claim, all his for the taking.
Gathering lots of resources and greasing lots of palms he managed to get Zareen empire to life it’s ban on monster forging. Now allowing with special government permission the forging of monsters ppl level 0-1, just in time for Hosfeild to open his new business. Founding Krazy Kritters Inc, a pet store selling numerous unique, friendly monsters called “Krazy Kritters”. Each of these monsters is unique and only ppl level 0, marketed as safe, cool pets for families.
Their are several different lines of Krazy Kritter monsters, each having a lot of variation in appearance. But despite this they are all as marketed “pre-neutered, house broken and safe and fun for the whole family”. The business even offer their “create a kritter” deal where with enough money you can get a custom monster designed just for you. Despite alot of criticism and pushback this venture has found lots of success in Zareen.
One of the main criticisms is over his ethics in these monsters creation. How a lot of them have highly impractical designs that hinder their health, and that most don’t live very long. Questions have also been raised as to how Hosfeild produces all these monsters, “Officially” he states that each Krazy kritter is hand forged by himself. In truth it’s more disgusting, I’ll just say the first of these beings made where “brood mothers and breeders”, if you get what I’m saying.
He may or may not also be working on creating designer monsters as bio-weapons and other unsavory things behind the scenes. That concludes my ravings on Mr. Hosfeild and what I imagine he’s up to. Prophet Cian, lindist jesus himself will be up next once my brain irons out the details alittle more, alongside brainstorming an ending for New York and werewolf.
I’m happy to hear you’re inspired Anon! You always have such great ideas, and this is another one. Really fun stuff. Fits in seamlessly with the existing lore, this is totally something that would take off in Zareen Empire...playing God for the sake of profit, that’s right up their alley. Glad to see more of Hosfeild and his antics.
I can’t wait to read more of your fics! I’ve been wondering about those. You’re killing me with suspense!
Note: When you do submit fics, please don’t do so through the askbox. They’re just too long and they get jumbled up with other fics and questions in my inbox. Please post the new parts somewhere like Wattpad, Reddit, Deviantart, or somewhere where I can copy/paste them easily, and just send an ask with a link. Thanks!
Interlude: No More Drama & Prelude: After Story – Omake
Omake’s primary meaning is general and widespread. It is used as an anime and manga fandom term to mean extra or bonus.
Hi!
Because I wasn’t able to update the next chapter this week (stares directly at my other deadlines) – so I thought of updating you guys with something that is rather different instead! :D
Whenever I write, sometimes I would reach roadblocks, and ideas just wouldn’t come out. Usually by then, I would start to imagine things that most of the time are totally unrelated to the main story (haha).
Anyway! Long story short, these are the character profiles that I imagined when I designed them on my head (lol?)
Friendly reminder that this is a complete fiction!
P.S.: I imagined them during their Neo Zone era, so I wouldn’t talk that much about them physically? Also, you can search on Twitter on their actual perfumes, but I think these brands would suit them very well too (there are some that I took from that reference as well lol).
Random Trivia
All Interlude chapters’ quotes are from Jaehyun’s parts on Neo Zone album
Same goes for Prelude, except for Make Your Day (since Yuta wasn’t a part of that song, I replaced it with Jaehyun’s)
You might or might not notice, but I also put Jaehyun’s part(s) on the actual chapter (either on the conversations or the narrations)
Yuta’s yakuza friend, Taka (mentioned briefly), is taken from MIYAVI’s real name (Takamasa Ishihara) – I borrowed his name because Yuta listened to MIYAVI alot (he also followed him on Instagram!)
The music that they listen to on the car ride during Pandora’s Box was Cigarette After Sex’s Apocalypse (because Jaehyun listens to Cigarettes After Sex before going to bed)
The music during the first car ride with Yuta was No Replacing You by Pink Sweat$ (it’s a part of Jaehyun’s playlist – which he revealed on one of his vlive)
The movie that Jaehyun and [Y/N] watched during the rainy day on White Night, The Notebook, is based on Jaehyun’s recommendation on NCT Night Night
I also mentioned this on Pandora’s Box, but the repeated quote between [Y/N] and Jaehyun, “What is the first twenty-four hours if we’re looking back at the past seventy years?” is highly inspired from Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud (And darling I will be loving you 'til we're 70) –because Jaehyun is a fan of Ed.
Also, [Y/N] and Jaehyun met when they’re on their mid 20s. The average human lifespan is 79 years —hopefully our [Y/N] and Jaehyun would have a wonderful long life together. That phrase itself means that both of them are willing to spend the rest of their lives together. Though, I don’t know how that becomes their own love language, it just happened as I write the story haha
[Y/N]’s body gel inspiration is actually a body cleanser by Aesop, A Rose By Any Other Name
Jaehyun’s engagement ring pick was Étincelle de Cartier Ring by Cartier
Jaehyun and [Y/N]’s favorite Ghibli movie pick is Howl’s Moving Castle – Jaehyun mentioned on NCT Night Night that he watched Howl’s Moving Castle a lot when he was at school
After the wedding, dark crimson rose was spotted on Nakamoto’s residence. This symbolizes grief and sadness.
On Make Your Day, the flower language meaning for Buttercup is “Your charm dazzles me”. This is why Yuta knows ___ is attracted to her. If you didn’t notice, Yuta already know that she’s the florist during their first encounter at Nonstop. That is because Yuta remembers their first encounter, too
The tune that ___ listen to at the end of Make Your Day is Always With Me (Spirited Away theme song). I personally feel the scene (on my head) fits the song perfectly! If you want to give it a listen, I recommend the piano version
At the end, ___ gave Yuta anthurium, which means hospitality and happiness. Note how I never really specify their relationship status, since I want the readers to have their own interpretation on the continuation of their relationship
Yuta’s haircut was actually not planned, but it fits the transition since he did cut his hair haha
The hardest chapters to write was Pandora’s Box and Not Alone – purely because they’re mostly transition chapters
Out of all chapters, my personal favorite from Interlude would be White Night and Nonstop for Prelude.
In fact, Nonstop would be my favorite chapter. I think I was so immersed with Jaehyun and [Y/N]’s wedding so I kept including TONS of details hahaha (I hope you don’t mind lol)
Sugar and Spice
[ Main Idea: You had decided to give a gift to Bakugou in a form of something to eat. Yet, when you hear that he has a taste for alot of spicy foods sometimes. You wonder if you make something that is both sweet and spicy! ]
[ Notes: Okay, this took me sooooo long to finish! My mind or mentally and emotionally, I’m going through some stuff right now, so that explains why I haven’t posted alot of stories. However, I do have other ones to work on at the moment. I apologize for any grammar mistakes. Or just in general any mistakes. ]
Gifts come in many sizes. Some come in surprises or gifts. After all, everyone loves receiving things from others or being the gift giver. Maybe for social impression. To get that one person you always want to be friends with or was already friends with, they needed to know how much you valued them. To a significant other, their existence in your life had brought you through ups and downs. The ideas and reasons are almost endless.
“How the hell am I going to make this work?” you freaked out over the ingredients spread out on you counter.
Here you was trying to make something for you partner. Wait, it was lover? No, it was special friend? No. It was. . . boyfriend. That was going to take a while to take awhile to set in. Ever since the confession, you’re feelings had been finally returned. Although, you couldn’t be exactly sure since the whole “love you” part wasn’t returned.
You looked at bunch of recipes over and over again. You was aware of his taste of spice thanks to a fun moment of hot candies. You had ask to try one. And despite your experience, Bakugou must have found it rather interesting for you want to try something like that. Or it may have been he never seen you eat THAT kind of candy before.
“I think I made a mistake.” you stuck your tongue out feeling the stinging sensation.
“You asked.” Bakugou claimed.
“You could have at least asked if I've tried spicy candy before!” you argued.
“How is it my fucking fault you wanted to try something.” he demanded irritated. “And besides you should know yourself if you can eat spicy things to start with.”
You huffed.
He had a point. Although, at least a “are you sure you know what you’re getting into” warning would have been nice. Bakugou wasn’t wrong about knowing your own limits. Maybe you was wanting him to stop you or at least find it somewhat funny. Besides, people react to spicy sweets and foods can sometimes be funny; although, seasonings, not so much.
“I wanted to try what you like.” you mumbled.
“Hah?” he asked.
“You like alot of spicy foods, right?” you asked before you looked away nervously. “So I wanted to at least try what you like!”
“Are you trying to be ME?” he groaned clearly confused and concerned for your reason for risking the taste of some spicy candy.
“No,” you denied feeling a bit insulted from hearing that conclusion. “I just want to understand a bit more of what you like!”
There was an awkward silence again. It was a bit nerve wrecking to a degree. Perhaps saying that was not too smart.
He turned around walking ahead of you, “You’ve been staring at me all this time and. . . fuck!”
And here you were; in your family’s kitchen. A bowl of chocolate and another bowl of spicies. You had decided to see if you could making some spicy chocolate for Bakugou. There wasn’t any crazy occasion, but you did feel the need to share your heart. And he did say “show me how you feel”. Perhaps this was what he meant.
You sighed, “I’m pretty sure that meant the fighting combat training from last time.”
You could still feel the lecture from Aizawa. After that event, he had made it clear it was excused, but that would mean more homework for you later on. One your teacher seemed all too happy to oblige. As a result, you was given quite a bit of paper work to deal with. You had at first suggested joining back in, but was quickly shutdown because of how red around the eyes you looked and a quick order to stay with Recovery Girl.
You set up your laptop safely away from mess you was probably going to attempt.
“Does even spicy chocolate exist?” you asked yourself a bit doubting yourself. “Does Bakugou even eat chocolate? Oh my god! What if my gift isn’t good enough?”
You cupped your face racing back and forth questioning this very idea. It wasn’t surprising to be a bit worried. You wanted to prove yourself, but you didn’t want to be lazy about it. It had to be perfect! It NEEDED to be perfect! You didn’t want his acceptance to be put in vain!
You slammed your hands on the table, “I can’t back out now.” And then recoiled from the impact on the table. “Ow.”
The day had shifted as if everything was normal. Or was it? The day at home had caused you slightly miss a bit of sleep due to your “research”. You had arrived to school just like everyone else and attended classes. During lunch, you was invited by Kirishima to join him and Bakugou--along with Kaminari. Although, Bakugou seemed a bit displeased with you being added in. Kirishima welcomed you like a sibling. Kaminari was happy, although still curious over how class 1-A explosive head had caught your attention so easily. The conversation though was shut down by the very person Kaminari questioned about. Yet, it was for a good reason. A challenging one though at that. Meanwhile, your mind had wandered off to ponder who knew making chocolate, but a spicy flavor was much more difficult than it should be.
On the way home, you trailed behind Bakugou staring intently at your phone.
“Okay, that shouldn’t be too hard.” you mumbled. “Though one of those ingredients maybe a bit hard to find possibly? But I can’t just quit now. I’ve only gotten start with searching.”
Unfortunately, you failed to forget who you with which caused your head bumped into Bakugou’s back who just happen to be stopping all of sudden.
“Why are you mumbling all fucking quiet behind me?” He ask a bit irritated.
“Eh,” you blinked before realization set in, “Oh! I was just looking at my phone on this new hero stuff going on! There is this one blog making some cool treats!”
“You suck at lying.” Bakugou deadpanned.
“I’m not lying!” you defended yourself.
“You’ve clearly been walking around with something else on your mind.” he rubbed his temples. “How else have you been mumbling all damn day, huh?”
“I’ve that easy to read, huh?” you nervously scratched your head.
“Like a fucking open book,” he resplied almost instantly. “What are you even planning now? And don’t tell me you aren’t because most of that mumbling has been nothing, but “ingredients”.”
“I can’t tell.” you replied just as fast as you looked away from him.
“Why the hell not?” he growled.
“It would ruin the surprise---!” you explained before checking the time on your phone. “Oh, I have to go! I got to do a thing downtown in the mall!” You slowly slipping away from Bakuguou as you headed another direction, “I’ll see you at school, Bakugou!”
“Get back here,” he demanded but you had already dashed off again. “God damn it!”
Returning back home, you had discovered a special kind of chocolate, a spicy recipe. It seem to fit along with what seem available which was quite pleasing. And the ingredients wasn’t too hard to get, but you felt even if it as a problem, you’d work yourself to get them.
“Now,” you said as you put on your apron and rolled up your sleeves, “time to start cooking!”
You had already designed a special kind of chocolate for Bakugou. It was mainly a simplified design from his hero costume, but you made sure to emphasize the explosion in his design. After all, he wasn’t just called “Explosion Boy” by Kirishima for nothing. There wasn’t going to be any food coloring as the theme was still chocolate, but you powdered spices was still a thing.
As you proceeded to stir, you hummed in delight to yourself. The aroma was soothing.
“I really hope he likes them.” you giggled as you felt your cheeks heat up.
Arriving back to school, you made sure to carry the chocolates in a nicely wrapped box. It was classic, no over dramatic heart shape, but the colors couldn’t have been more obvious. With orange top and black bottom with a neatly tied red ribbon on top.
“Hey,” a voice called out to you. “You look really fucking happy for some reason.”
You squealed as your body jump up straight. ‘It’s not,’ you peaked behind you to see nothing there. “Oh, I must be hearing things.”
“Look in front of you, dumbass!” the voice barked again.
You jumped again. The gift slowly almost falling out of your grasp if not for your sudden adrenaline yelling at you to not drop it. It didn’t touch the ground which was a relief. However, your pose, while almost ballerina-wise or however it appeared could not be said the same. The majority of the students glanced back at you while some giggled. Was it from the pose? Was it Bakugou? You doubt it. Most just felt in different of him or just never cared.
You huffed a bit hiding your bottom face as you hugged the gifted tightly with your arms. It seemed to not attraction the ash-blonde’s attention as his red eyes was trained onto your own eyes. He appeared to be suspicious as one of his eyebrows lifted.
“What the hell?” was his only response. “What the fuck are you doing?”
“You scared me Bakugou!” you accused. “I almost dropped my stuff!”
“What stuff,” he inquired. “That box you keep holding so close or something?”
“Eh?” you blinked until you looked at the box you held close to yourself. “Oh! It’s something REALLY important!”
You smiled brightly at the ash-blonde. Heart beating at a rapid pace. You was certain you was turning slightly red.
The package was important. Yet, to who it was meant for gave a much higher importance!
“Actually,” you hesitated. “Bakugou?”
“What,” he responded.
Skin mixed with skin; hand with hand, you grasped Bakugou’s hands which stunned the boy. You proceeded to pull him away from the students still piling onto school campus. The gift still kept to your chest and your face hidden as you pulled Bakugou away. Further and further away from anyone. A building a bit not far out in the open, but secluded area, you stopped to breathe. You pondered if you was gaining more stamina for all the running. Although, it didn’t last as he pulled his hand away from your grasp. The warmth replaced with cold air.
“What the hell?” he barked while you sighed to calm your racing heart. “What the fuck are you doing?”
You gave one more sigh and you bowed, “I’m sorry, but,”  and shoved forward your gift, “here!”
It was silent. Too silent. You didn’t move from you spot. Yet, you kept your eyes on the ground.
You continued to talk, “I wanted to give you this gift! I know you said “show you how I feel, which I guess you was probably talking about my skills in the class before all that stuff happened! But I wanted to show it another one too! It’s not great or what you was demanding I guessing, but I don’t want to take your acceptance for granted!”
You hands began to feel empty as air flew by your skin. Your eyes came into contact with Bakugou’s as he held your gift. His expression a bit more red, but it was hard for you tell. His expression felt indifferent. His eyes glancing between you and the gift you had held onto so tightly.
A lump fell down your throat as he opened it. His eye dilated in interest and expression pure surprise. Your fingers jitters nervously as you tilted your head a bit to the side. A face full of concern.
“Um,” you called softly, “Bakugou? Is something wrong? Do you not like it?”
Another silence.
“Bakugou?” you repeated.
He was being rather too silent. Even for someone like him, who was loud and vocal in his social approaches; or some of them he was.
“You,” he grumbled trying to cover his mouth as he seem to go red from ear to ear now.
Inside, you had made the chocolates in similar design to his grenades he would wear on his belt, but sprinkled a bit of green like powder. His signature explosive symbol that was from his mask design was on the side, but covered in a orange like powder. You didn’t want to go simple with hearts or balls. You wanted it to be more closely tied to him. Tied to Bakugou. He was special to you after all. And these chocolates had to prove it.
His constant staring had you on edge. You hope wasn’t freaked out or worried by it.
“You know you can eat it, right?” you reminded him which had jolted his attention.
“I know that!” he barked almost more red now. “Just not right now I can’t!”
Your smiled, “I’m happy you have it though. Maybe during lunch you try it!” Your enthusiasm was showing. “I had to look into some specifics ingredients that may give the chocolate a bit more pop.”
His back was turned to you as you continued to smile. He didn’t seem displeased in your eyes, so he must have liked it. He glanced over at you before pointing in front of him.
“You’re going to be late, dumbass.” he informed you.
“Eh,” you blinked dumbfounded with a smile on your face before it hit you. “Ah! Class!” And soon enough you was off in a hurry again. “Sorry, Bakugou!” you yelled, “Tell me how it taste later, okay!”
“Yeah, yeah,” he replied.
However, you may have called it chance or luck, but you was pretty sure you had caught him blushing, but it was more of a grin.
Arc V Month Day 5 - Favorite character design/outfit?
TIME FOR DESIGN/OUTFIT TALK!!! MY FAVOURITE
I don’t have a favourite exactly, I’m just gonna list some characters and talk about stuff I like about their designs, so cut for length.
I will say that something I really love about Arc V’s character design, is that you can tell what dimension a character is from by looking at their design. Sora is a very interesting example of this, as his modified uniform could def fit in at Standard, while also looking just a little out of place, but it fits in just as well when you find out he’s from Academia. Just stuff like that, I adore to bits.
ADDED EDIT: Forgot to mention a thing about the yuboys colour schemes, it’s added now! It’s a neat one
Ramble continues underneath
Tumblr media
Let’s start with the boys!
Yuya: Yugioh protags fascinate me with how they’re able to have hair colour combinations that shouldn’t work yet somehow does, and Yuya definitely fits that bill. His giant ahoge is such a charm point for me to boot. His goggles surprised me with how they’re both a signature part of his design, while also having character meaning to him, hiding behind them when he’s sad, but also putting them on when it’s time to get serious. His baggy pants and the simple t-shirt create a very simple sillhouette that gets elevated with his eyecatching white jacket. His little black collar is a part I often forget he has but gives him him kind of an edge as well imo.
Yuto: I don’t have a whole lot to say about this edgy boy, but a part I do like is how his outfit looks like a ragged school uniform with a cape thrown over it. His shirt resembles the Zexal school uniform, just in a darker colour, which is a very nice touch. His cape being red on the inside gives it a nice dramatic flash as well.
Yugo: Ok so like, first thing I love alot about Yugo’s design, is that it’s mainly white. His main colour is for the most part white, and for his character type(stubborn, heated, energetic), it’s unusual to see, white as a theme colour is usually reserved for serene or loving characters, or ones that can be portrayed as ‘too good for the world they live in’. Which, can kind of fit, since he lives in the Commons but usually doesn’t act like he lives in such a hellhole. Though overall I just like how sleek his design looks, the pattern on his front look so good and I love his jacket.
Yuri: Oh Yuri, how many layers does one boy need? It’s certainly dramatic with two capes. A detail I really like is that the jacket he’s wearing over his shoulders could very well be his Academia jacket, and how it’s definitely there, but doesn’t stand out very much or is that well-defined could represent his uncaring feelings towards Academia itself(or I’m just reaching, but hey anyone does). I do like how he and Yuya both have a jacket over their shoulders, but they look very different
A last note I wanna talk about with the boys… I really love how their colour schemes are more or less opposites of the protagonist of the series their dimension is based on. Yugi’s school jacket was a dark blue and he usually wore punkish and dark clothes while Yuya wears colour and his jacket is white. Yuri has pink and purple hair and wears more colour and his red jacket almost like an afterthought, while Judai was very rarely seen without his, has the most normal hair colour of all protags and has very casual clothes. Yuto has such dark colours compared to Yuma, and while Yuma had no cape or cloak, Yuto has the longest one out of all the yuboys. Yugo’s outfit is almost wholly white with some red(and the blue and yellow parts on his suit), while Yusei wears mostly dark blue, it’s a big contrast! And I honestly love it, it’s so neat to me.
EDIT: I forgot to mention how the boys main colours are based on the card borders colour of the summoning method their dimension is based! Yuya’s orange shirt stands out alot, fitting with how normal cards look, but then the star on his goggle lens and his pendulum being light blue for pendulum summoning is so neat! XYZ cards are black, Synchro cards are white and Fusion cards are purple. It’s just, such a great detail that I love to bits.
That’s not even getting into how their personalities are almost opposite of them as well, but going into that would take too long so let’s move on to...
Tumblr media
The Bracelet Girls!
Can I get a “HELL YEAH” for girls in pants?? Or shorts, it’s not skirts or obnoxious short-shorts. First note I’m not gonna talk about Yuzu(cause i find all her outfits to be ranging from eh to terrible) but know I love her little musical note pin she has on the collar of her uniform, and her shoes are very cute.
Serena: Honestly I love how her outfit change is different, but still similar. She’s thrown away her Academia uniform and their ideals, but not herself and her own ideals and her outfit kinda reflects this. I love her ponytail and big ass ribbon that, thank the gods, isn’t in a traditional ribbon shape, it’s like she’s making herself seem bigger to look threatening xD
Ruri: She! Looks! Like! She! Has! Been! In! A! Warzone!! Like she should, cause she literally has, and been living in one! Her wearing actual pants is great, even if they look a bit much like thights, but I’ll take what I can get. And I love her boots and jacket, they’re tough-looking and it mixes well with her long, elegant-looking hair. Her earrings and hairclip have been talked about before, but as she’s still holding on to them and wearing them, they’re obviously important to her, and fits in with her deck.
Rin: First off, I adore her hair. That green colour and how messy and curly it is? Love it, it’s the best, and how it’s short. It honestly gives me witch vibes, which fits in with her deck. Her riding suit’s colours honestly kinda clash a little in a bad way to me? But I still love the design for it, and how she has gloves in her back pocket. It’s just a cool design all around, and her little earrings and choker are simple, but also fits in with her windwitches and her style in general.
Also, a note i really like about them, they’ve all got these little antennae like things in their hair, a different shade to their hair major hair colour, all at the same location, and i’ve liked that detail alot since i first noticed it.
Plus, I adore how they have proper ygo spikes. Girls in this franchise so often get stuck with more normal hairstyles and not very spiky ones, but they’ve got fun spikes and curls and I’m so happy about it.
And now, for some miscellaneous ramblings:
Can I proclaim my love for how Gongenzaka’s outfit looks alot like an ouendan uniform? A type of male cheerleading? The later significance of his sash is really sweet, and I love how hit sandals make noise as he walks, and his design just fits in really well with his ‘steadfast dueling’ style. You really believe he can win a duel without budging an inch.
The Tyler sisters designs are just A+ stuff. You’d guess they’d be here since they have PANTS. And they look so cool, and they look like they could really be related. Their designs are just really cool and pleasant to look at.
I actually really like Zarc’s human design, even if the cowboy pants are a bit silly. He looks like he’s clad to cushion or protect what he can of his body during action duels. The thick gloves would be good for hanging onto ledges or his monsters without overly damaging his hands, that he needs to play his cards. His hair being white with green stripes is really nice too, and with his big dragon form being black, it kinda shows a change in character.(or i’m overthinking it again) His hair locks with the stripes looking like the dragons head is also just a really good touch.
Ray’s outfit is kind of futuristic, and you kinda get the vibe she would be a turbo duelist? Especially with the glasses she’s seen wearing once in a flashback, and that you can get that even without her wearing a riding suit or it being stated is so cool. Also the fact that she looks like a proper grown woman even with twintails is really nice. Her little weird fringe is neat too, I like it.
Special shoutout to: Shun’s coat for the dramatic effect it gives him constantly. Tsukikage’s ninja outfit for not looking like a typical ninja outfit and being more cool but still telling us ‘he’s a ninja’. Shingo’s black button-up under his uniform jacket that looks classy and thus can clash accordingly with his silly personality. The LDS trio for looking distinct and also fitting in with their personality, Hokuto’s headpiece with stars tells a lot about his haughty personality, Yaiba’s more rough outift fits his wild personality and Masumi, while simple, can tell alot, her holster for her duel disk is one part I really like. Also, they all have a colour that matches up with the summoning method they use. The updated Academia uniforms. While still resembling the original ones in GX, looks much more like an army uniform. Reiji’s scarf and it’s crazy antics. But also for matching with his glasses, both being red in colour and giving his design a splash of colour.
BTS: Namjoon’s Koya - Comfort Style (Mars) | Sleeping Cycle (Mercury/Venus)
Tumblr media
*Note: Not an analysis of his sleeping cycle (ya freaks) just the significance of sleep to him/how it’s a re-occurring subject when it comes to Namjoon. An appreciation for Koya/Namjoon’s creation of Koya. And a little bit on Jimin staying up super late into the night (and how it correlates to Namjoon as well)
Virgo Boys Masterlist: JK Series | NJ Series
Not to make anyone cry but Namjoon having difficulties breathing when he sleeps (we knew he snore during debut -> until he got the surgery) and Koya’s detachable nose/body parts might be more correlated if you think harder about it 🙃 We’re NOT going to think about it since we’re NOT going to cry today! And also it’s probably just a coincidence pleaSE DONT CRY
Anyways it’s super cute how Koya is such a relaxing color for Namjoon to sleep with. Can we talk about the color-scheme chosen for Koya for a second? I know during the behind-the-scenes/making of bt21 we didn’t get to focus so much on Namjoon’s creation of Koya (it was focused on the jokes/member dynamics) but the color blue (light/dark) seems to come up alot with Namjoon when he’s relaxing/being himself.
Whether it’s completely coincidental or not, it’s a good contrast from his ‘airport’/daytime fashion that focuses on Black, White and Khaki/Cargo pants.
This contrast between Namjoon putting himself out there/expressing himself through fashion (Namjoon’s Fashion Sense Post) and Namjoon just relaxing/being himself is kind of distinctive. Nowadays, we see Namjoon just being himself more when he wears joggers, studio clothes/vlive at night where he’s decked out in comfy wear. Baggy/roomy clothes are good for him. Plus the gray/white seems to be much more prominent when he’s not ‘dressing up’ (Black - Scorpio Venus)
Koya with it’s periwinkle colour and it’s main trait being ‘sleepy’/‘relaxing’ is almost like a manifestation of Namjoon’s comfort being given into a character, in order to gift/help others with this as well.
It’s like a well-meaning gift, like saying ‘hey this is a personal part of myself. Some of the problems I deal with personally, with sleeping, and I want to give my well-wishes/solutions to you to help those out there who might suffer from this insomnia/thing as well’ It’s the best part of himself and a personal part of himself (like how he said he can’t act/let others direct his own narrative for him) being presented/given to others. That’s the core of BTS and what they’re trying to do (to an extent as well) -- and Namjoon is a manifestation of doing it in his action/motivation which is what makes it so comforting (whether he realizes this or not).
Honestly the blue colour-- I think it’s part of the inner-conscious. The manifestation of the water in his life. You don’t have to pick your favourite colours based on your element/what you feel like, but it’s interesting to see colours/favourite colours plays out as an expression of what the person isn’t expressing in their personality already.
See Hoseok for example who’s just so airy (Aquarius) and his favourite colour is green (Taurus) -- he definitely shows the ‘groundedness’ Taurus has.  But you can think of Taurus as the plant + earth at the same time. Since he already expressing the ‘earth’ part of Taurus, the ‘green’ part is expressed through his clothing style/colour choice instead (muted colours sometimes).
Jungkook with his Leo Moon (yellow) and the abundance of black/white in his colour scheme (Virgo/Scorpio)
Jimin preferring dark blue/light blue (Scorpio/water) mixed with the air in his chart (Libra/Gemini) since he already wears quite a lot of blacks (Scorpio) the intermix/lighter side of Scorpio (water) might be mixing in with his air placements.
These are all just speculations, there’s not a lot to go on so please take this with a grain of salt. Honestly, I’ve looked a bit into colour astrology but unless it’s vedic the information is kind of limited (and I don’t have a degree in colour psychology either, so I’m really not coming from any professional authority-- I’m just speculating.)
We’re also going to be talking about the abundance of Ryans on Namjoon’s bed as well.
Tumblr media
Cuddly Cancer Mars and the cluttering of Sagittarius Moon, even though he said (in the latest Hobi Vlive) that he throws the pillow out of the bed because it’s ‘clustering’ boy sure has the space/time to be surrounded by doll collections 24/7 of his life (from his bed to his studio)
Tumblr media
Cancer Mars typically find comfort in people/domestic scenes, this doesn’t always have to mean their bed/personal space it can also mean their office/place they spend certain amount of time in-- alone. When they’re not being tactile with people they can find themselves customizing/intentionally designing their space to be some kind of ‘nest’ for themselves to function/work in. It’s not about moving rapidly through life and the impermanence of objects, it’s about making whether they go/reside in home.
That’s why you can see Yoongi holding up in his room a lot of the time, but also you can see how Seokjin/Namjoon tends to collect figures/dolls (Mario figures/gaming device - Aries Moon | KAW figures + Ryan dolls ) as well. It gives a sense of comfort to them, and also just domesticate their spaces somewhat (adds familiarity to them).
Because Namjoon does have a Sagittarius Moon sometimes he can get to clutter/scatter the objects. Buys more than he needs or keeps relics in his spaces (how he customizes his desk) compared to say Seokjin who’s more about activities/fast paced-ness (Aries Moon) and that tends to focus more on devices/objects he can use that benefits him emotionally.
It’s also about the ~aesthetic~ with Namjoon, and that’s a combination of Libra and Virgo involved. Contrary to popular belief, Virgo can tend to be pretty house proud themselves. They like to show off in nondescript ways their personal possession/objects (see: Yoongi’s jersey and basketball figures, Jungkook’s speakers/gaming keyboards) It’s nothing too flashy/things to be acknowledged by others, they’re just proud of themselves like that (house-proud).
Tumblr media
Oh and going back to sleeping cycles? In Saipan video where Namjoon said he ended up watching an entire series instead of one, that’s such a Scorpio Venus mood. It’s part of Libra Mercury too, usually to do with sleeping cycle/mind pursuit being too caught up on a lot of things (Jimin does tend to stay up late as well) and Scorpio enabling that obsessive factor making them possibly nocturnal (unintentionally) when something caught their mind’s attention.
Libra Mercury won’t stop until they feel like they understood something above the superficial level, if it’s something that personally interests them (like a topic/hobby they might have) it’s the same agitation when it comes to being bothered about a situation that is unjust/unfair to others, but in this case it’s just that drive/persistence that’s involved (cardinal). Their mind is constantly working, and Jimin especially with his Gemini Moon. It can be hard for him to fall asleep because he’s constantly stimulated/wanting that stimulation.
With Namjoon it’s just a matter of distracting/exerting himself enough in his daily life that he’s drained (tired) enough to go to sleep (Sagittarius Moon). Although when they’re both caught up on something (Scorpio Venus- personal interests) they can be awfully persistent in getting to the end of it. Thus why sometimes, that might possibly eat into their daytime/night-time cycle as well.
Soviet Remakes
Research
I began this exercise by researching constructivism and the recommend artists as seen below. I really enjoyed looking at the range of these artists as constructivism is something that I really haven’t had the experience of looking at before. I compiled some artists that I felt were pioneers in constructivism. Below the images re some quick notes I made about the actual images itself.  I also looked at Saul bass during this exercise as well, just to see some of the principles in work
Constructivism
Is a form of abstract art, founded by Vladimir Tatlin and Alexander Rodchenko in Russia in 1915.
Its all about the construction, This is art that is built rather than relying on expression.
Should reflect the modern industrial world.
A world less hermetic and more based in factories and laboratories.
Influenced by Picasso’s Cubist constructions.
Construtivists were constructors of a new society - The modernising of the Russian revolution.
Supressed In the 1920s in Russia , but was bought to the western world by Nabum Gabo and Antoine Pevsner.
This then became a modern influence on modern sculpture
Influenced Minimalism and Brazilian neo-Constructivism - (Linked to bauhaus)
It is a mixture of Forward thinking theory and Political propaganda
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Observations about constructivism
Sparce and empty looking - almost sterile and mechanical
Geometric forms
Modest materials used - glass, woods, metals
Its about taking form down to its almost basic elements
Artwork is dictated by material
The free combination of primitive shapes
Soviet movie posters
From here I looked at soviet movie posters, I have never really looked at these either and I find them to be a bit intimidating. There is a lot going on in the composition, but a lot of it is made of geometric shapes and it is easy to see how they could have been broken down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There really does seem to be the main shapes just repeated throughout the composition, the triangle, the square and the circle. a lot of primary colours used, but somewhat desaturated in some images.
From looking at this posters I was able to make some sketches of designs that I would want to use for my movie poster.
Making the poster
I chose Psycho for my poster, I am really familiar with this film and I felt like it was a classic Hollywood film that had an iconic scene that would make a good focal point for the poster. A lot of the posters feature a woman or main characters head separated from the body, as a focal point and I knew that I would do this for the character of Marion Crane.
Below are some of my initial sketches I made when thinking about how I wanted my poster to go.
Tumblr media
 At this point I knew That I wanted to have the spiralling circle effect on my poster as it resembles an Emanata in particular a  Agitron.  I walks wanted to make sure that I had some strong geometric shapes in the piece as that is a core point of constructivism. I decided to colour Marion red to represent blood from the death scene. Originally I was going to make her yellow like alot of the other soviet posters woman and colour her lips red, but I felt like this would be more dynamic. Although I have my doubts about this. I don’t know. I feel quite unconfident about this exercise. I Also included a red triangle facing down to feel like a knife. I wanted there to be meaning behind my decisions.
Tumblr media
Making the poster was actually a bit more difficult than I planned. I have been used affinity designer for some points instead of illustrator, and learning how to do the repeating circles was actually really annoying, but once I figured out how to perfectly space them apart the effect looked pretty good as It looks like she is shouting. I ended up moving some of the text around, looking at the way that the soviet posters looked. I made the poster in Russian as I felt that it helped give it that look.
Overall, I had so much trouble visualising this poster and making it. I’m not really happy with the final thing. I have learnt so much this unit but I feel like this is a giant step backwards and I could do better. Hopefully I will haver the chance to go back and move things around, maybe change the colours around a bit.
Author; Rose/ @pearltoroses
For; @yasung
Ratings/Warnings; Character death, mention of blood
Prompt; I used the late movie night watching as a fragment of what turned into a pacific rim!verse
Authors notes; I kinda deviated from the prompts and it turned into a pacrim!verse!au,,, you don’t need to have seen pacrim and there’s no spoilers but some terminology may confuse you ;;; anyway I hope you enjoy~ this was a blast to write!
Choruses of commands erupt from the headset, Sonia’s tired voice blending with Kazuichi’s panicked tone and Pekoyama’s hushed assessment of Kuzuryuu’s condition go unnoticed. Hajime shifts in the harness, glancing at Komaeda and hurriedly punching in commands to the Jaeger. A metal creaking, the sound of angry waves below them and the awful, screeching howls of the kaiju followed by a thick silence pierced only by Komaeda’s cry of horror./
“My name is Sonia Nevermind. I am most gratefully honoured to meet you, Hinata-san! I have heard much about your work with the Kamukura Izuru Jaeger, and the fact that such a skilled pilot will be protecting Towa city is very comforting.”
Hajime nods and manages a smile at Sonia. He skims through her introduction in his head, pausing briefly at her use of words and instead questioning her praise concerning his previous Jaeger.
“I’m Hajime Hinata. The Kamukura project was… The true skill lies in the Jaeger itself. I just managed to drift with it’s consciousness, so don’t expect to much from me.”
Sonia smiles brightly, despite Hajime challenging her compliment and puts her hand out expectantly. Hajime reaches out to shake it, before a voice from behind them halts him.
“Stay away from Sonia-san! I’ll get Gundham to curse you if you-”
“Souda, please will you be quiet for one moment? At least wait until new recruits have their room in here until you scare them away.”
The voice is cut of by Sonia, who’s tone had suddenly changed. A vast contrast to her earlier voice, cold, scathing words with a matching glare pierce the air and a pink-haired man starts to pick at a flamboyant jumpsuit nervously, muttering a quiet apology. Sonia turns back to Hajime and grips his hand firmly before spinning on her heel and leading Hajime down a chromatic corridor.
“I’m sorry about him. His name is Kazuichi Souda, the person who leads Jaeger design and maintenance here. Gundham and I love him, but he still hasn’t learned that we won’t run away if we’re out of his site for more than a few moments.”
“Ah.”
Hajime says, his reply short. The two continue through a mess of corridors, identical doors and uniformed figures being the only break from the glare of white. Sonia finally stops in front of a dark, wooden door.
“This is where you will be staying if your drift test goes well. Komaeda is… complex. None of us know his true motivations or goals, and he doesn’t make alot of sense but he’s a very good pilot. One of the best.”
Sonia smiles at him in what was meant to be a reassuring manner, but it just fueled Hajime’s worry about his new partner. He had heard a few stories about him at his old base were he piloted Izuru, rumours flying around about an eccentric Jaeger pilot with five dead co-pilots who had the luck of a devil.
“A few people have said that. We’ll be using, the Mono Mark I, right? The Kuma?”
“Mmn,” Sonia nods absentmindedly, as she begins to knock. “Previously piloted by Makoto Naegi.”
“Oh, great. They’ll expect us to kill at least 4 Category 5s in one attack if we’re using that.”
Sonia laughs lightly and shakes her head, sending a glance at Hajime as if to say ‘you’ll do fine’. After a moment of no response from the door, she swipes a card on a reader next to it and pushes it open. Hajime enters, thanking her.
“Komaeda-san? Komaeda-san, are you eve- you’re watching that movie again?”
Hajime sees a thin man, about his age and height, slip of some headphones and rise to greet Sonia.
“Ah, Sonia-san! You’ve decided to grace someone like me with your presence? Surely, I’m not worth it - unless you want to use me for an experiment? I’d gladly co-operate.”
Komaeda’s voice is weak, airy, but there’s a sharpness to it Hajime can’t decipher. A steel knife grating through otherwise transparent words and Hajime knows Komaeda is dangerous.
“Sonia-san, I’m ver-” Komaeda’s voice cuts of, trailing to a halt as eyes narrow at Hajime. “And, would it be safe to assume this is my new co-pilot?”
Hajime opens his mouth to speak, before Sonia silences him with a nudge.
“Komaeda-san. Hinata-san is a very skilled pilot - he piloted the Izuru Jaeger. Please treat him as you’d treat the other pilots, if that is within you.”
A moment of deliberation, Komaeda sending a probing look at Hajime.
“I’m sorry I treated you rudely a moment ago! Please forgive me, even someone like me may prove useful to a fragment of hope like you in this godforsaken world.”
Sonia seems satisfied, so Hajime decides not to mention the  unease he feels as Komaeda speaks.
“I’m Hajime Hinata. Former pilot of the Izuru Kamukura. 43 kills in 4 years of service. Solo piloted for all my service.”
“Komaeda Nagito. Pilot of the Monokuma Jaeger, five previous co-pilots . 54 kills and 92 points in 6 years of service. It’s wonderful to meet such a shining fragment of hope!”
Sonia leaves quietly, and the two shake hands briefly. Hajime sets down his bag, noting there is a bunk bed and numbing slightly, remembering the previous experiences he had with them (no, Maizono, it won’t hold this much weight we will literally kill whoever is under this.)
“I heard Izuru was the only solo Jaeger! And it’s conscientiousness was alive! You are very, very lucky you managed to pilot it! I have terrible luck, but that’s just what someone would expect of trash like me…”
Hajime hums gently to mute Komaeda’s voice. He had only met him a few minutes ago and it was already taking a mental toll on Hajime. He rummages through drawers, finding multitudes of green coats and white (blood-stained?) shirts before finally opening an empty one and shoving his small amount of belongings inside.
“You call it luck? I would disagree, Komaeda. It wasn’t fate or a predestined future that allowed me to pilot him.”
Komaeda laughs breathily, his tone morphing into something cold, sharp.
“You think I don’t know? If it was luck, even someone like me would manage to do it. I bet it was 'hard work’, right? That’ll get you nowhere, if you have no talent. You’ll run out of determination,  confidence and see where your 'hard work’ leaves you. A kaiju’s fist seems a likely end for you.”
Komaeda Nagito was dangerous, a ticking bomb, but Hajime was determined to figure him out.
“Hajime-chan,  Ibuki thinks you’re ready now! Could Hinata-chan sit here for Ibuki while I connect his suit?”
Hajime sits where Mioda is gesturing, gladly allowing his legs to feel relief after what seemed like an eternity of standing to get his suit connected.
“Ibuki is going to link you to Nagito-chan now! You already know the dangers, so Ibuki wishes you good luck!”
He nods, and Mioda nods enthusiasticly to Owari who clicks down on a panel. After a moment of delay, Komaeda’s consciousness is there, a pulsating mass of abstract emotion. Memories filter in and out of Hajime’s mind, seeing an orange-haired boy being crushed, a short girl whimpering as the kaiju breaks the Jaeger, bright crimson eyes, a cold smile and acceptance as she drowns, a loud man with a ridiculous corncob-esque hairstyle, calling for someone as he bleeds out.
And Hajime is in awe for a second because what had Komaeda Nagito been through? There’s nothing else, just a feeling of emptiness, an endless white expanse, and a feeling of hopelessness.
But then, it appears.
The Izuru Kamukura Jaeger is in front of Hajime, resting in Komaeda’s mind.
Hajime wants to scream, because suddenly there’s so much. Komaeda’s emotions, threatening to spill. Horrific memories of fallen comrades, bitterness and hate directed and Izuru, and everything in Komaeda’s mind is screeching in agony.
Then, the link between them is cut. Komaeda sending a curious look at Hajime, Mioda and Owari messing with Hajime’s suit and Tanaka directing his attention at Komaeda.
“Hajime-chan, you need to look at Ibuki, okay? Hajime-chan, can you count to ten with Ibuki?”
It’s all a blur and an awful ringing is his ears, but Hajime nods at Mioda, mouth forming familiar shapes as his breathing evens out. A searching glance is shot at Komaeda’s face.
“You did fall out of the drift, Hinata-san, but your compatibility with Komaeda-san is very high. It almost matches the record Naegi-san and Togami-san set in their time…”
Sonia’s voice is filled with excitement as she addresses Hajime. He doesn’t answer, but nods slightly in agreement. Sonia smiles brightly, tone softening.
“You should know this, however Komaeda-san isn’t… Very straightforward. A lot has happened to him, and he doesn’t try to cope. Even if you fell out of it this time…”
“I’ll try, Sonia. Thank you.”
A moment of silence, before a swift knock at the door interrupts them. It swings open, and a pale woman with crimson eyes is revealed to be standing there.
“Pekoyama-san? What brings you here today? Ah, I don’t believe you have met Hinata-san yet. Hinata-san, this is Peko Pekoyama, who pilots the Kuma’s sister Jaeger, Mono II, Usami. This is Hajime Hinata, Komaeda-san’s new co-pilot.”
Pekoyama shakes hishand, a surprisingly strong grip for such a thin woman, and Hajime exits.
“This isn’t working.”
It’s been a month since Komaeda and Hajime had first met, drift tests every few days, before Owari brings up the inevitable.
“Mmn~ Ibuki agrees with Akane-chan! Ibuki is not great at maths, but your results are going down! And Hajime-chan can’t stay in the drift!”
Komaeda nods in agreement as Mioda speaks, a mocking expression sent at Hajime.
“Maybe if it won’t trouble her, Sonia-san could get me a new partner! One who’s hope shines much brighter than Hinata-kun’s!”
“You’re the one pushing me out,” Hajime grumbles, “Maybe if you, I don’t know, actually attempted to block your mind from impending doom and talked to me, it would work?”
The look of sheer shock on Komaeda’s face was priceless, except Hajime wasn’t expecting it; he was being honest about Komaeda’s lack of contribution, not seeking to insult the other.
“You think- I’ve had 5 pilots who I watched die. I’ve drifted with enough people that I won’t live much longer. And you say this is my fault?”
“If you tried to help, maybe talked to me about this instead of pouring your disgust regarding 'someone hopeless like Hinata-kun’ into our drift, I wouldn’t say it was your fault!”
Hajime takes deep breaths, trying to calm down. Komaeda doesn’t reply, just glares at Hajime with undisguised bitterness. Once Mioda finally pulls of his suit, he leaves without another word.
(Komaeda Nagito is a whirlwind of emotion and complexity, and it was at the moment Hajime recognised it he may have began, just maybe, to fall truly and deeply in love.)
Hajime returns to their room, flicking on the lights and laying on the couch in thought. Some time later, Komaeda joins him in silence. After a period of unbroken tension, Komaeda speaks.
“I’m sorry, Hinata-kun. I know you know about my feelings toward talent, and if you didn’t hate me already you probably do now. I don’t think…”
He trails of uncertainly, eyes glancing to the floor.
“An apology is a starting point - just… Talk it over with me. Don’t lash out at me with your mind. And I don’t hate you.”
“I’ll try.”
Komaeda’s tone couldn’t be more different from the scathing words he had uttered at Hajime before, and Hajime is glad because they can go somewhere with this. There’s something bright in Komaeda’s gaze, and they can finally begin.
“Hinata, to your right. Let Komaeda handle this side. Peko and I will take the back.”
Kuzuryuu’s words through their helmets are sharp and commanding, demonstrating his experience as a pilot. Hajime isn’t worried; although it’s the first attack by kaiju on his time on the base at Towa, both he and Komaeda were experienced pilots, and Pekoyama and Kuzuryuu as members of their squad was a comfortable feeling.
A few strikes to the kaiju -small, for a Category 3, but quite fast - and it topples into the water. Kazuichi’s voice is merging with static as he assesses the kaiju’s condition, but Hajime isn’t paying attention because Komaeda’s eyes are burning with a bright, unbridled joy and Hajime can feel it in his mind. Their link pulsates with happiness, the first sense of union between them, and accomplishment. Even if the kaiju ridden world had destroyed so, so much, the smile Komaeda shot Hajime after their first kill together was worth it.
(Hajime begins to realise why he was so fascinated with pale hands, why he hung onto every venomous word Komaeda spoke, even if after that moment the snake-like tone, a crude mix of despair and danger, was barely heard again)
(On Komaeda’s birthday, he admits to himself he’s fallen in love.)
Months later, after 27 successful kills, a kiss between them is shared under mistletoe on Christmas Eve. But it isn’t their first, and even without the plant their lips would have met anyway.
(Because, somewhere along the line, the edges of love and hate are blurred for Nagito and he’s deeply, deeply, infatuated.)
“Fuck yes!  Three Category 4s, Peko! We did it!”
There’s ecstasy in the air, a sense of accomplishment, and alcohol waiting to be opened. The main hall had been closed off, leaving space for the pilots and engineers to celebrate without disturbing the office officials. And yet, Hajime couldn’t be more nervous. That may be because of a silver bind intertwined with glimmering gold, centuries’ worth of love and a promise resting in his pocket, his heart shaped in a piece of jewellery.
Komaeda drifts over, handing a glass to Hajime.
“Not talking much tonight, Hinata-kun?”
“You still haven’t learned to call me Hajime yet?”
He shakes his head softly, taking a sip of his drink and wincing at the flavour.
“It’s sour… I don’t think someone like me should call you something like that, Hinata-kun.”
“Cut it out. No more self-depreciating crap, okay? And if you think of me so highly, the point of what I wanted to do is pointless.”
Komaeda sends a curious look at Hajime, who shrugs lightly with a slight smile.
“Anyway, we should celebrate. Three Category 4’s, Ko. We’re making our way up to where Naegi and Togami set the record.”
(Later that night, Hajime passes a ring to Komaeda and asks him to marry him. Of course, Komaeda says yes.)
They’re laying side by side on their couch, watching an old movie. Hajime recognises it as the one Komaeda was watching when he first met him with Sonia.
“Hey, Hajime…” Komaeda’s voice is hushed, a strain to it Hajime hadn’t heard before. “Is this… Piloting Jaegers, killing kaiju, actually helping anyone? They’ll just keep coming, and they won’t stop coming….”
“In the long run, it isn’t.” Hajime nudges closer to Komaeda, wrapping his arms around the other. “But we’ve saved people. The girl from the previous attack who would have been crushed if Sonia didn’t pilot the Flute Jaeger for the first time in years, the parents from the Errashaker attack, who could have been eaten if we weren’t there.”
Komaeda nods slowly, but there’s no belief in his eyes.
“This movie came out just before the attacks began… My parents showed it to me when I was a kid, but they died in one of the first attacks. If pilots had been there, if there was Jaegers, then…?”
“They would have survived.”
Hajime confirms, and Komaeda smiles gently.
“Think we could finish the whole series before Sonia finds us awake?”
“Of course.”
A ringing in Hajime’s ears, Komaeda’s thoughts across the drift are a mess of we can’t do this nonono our hope isn’t enough this despair will kill us hinata-kun will die nono I don’t want that to happen kuzuryuu-kun and pekoyama-san will be crushed and nonono not again we have to run pleasepleaseple- , bestial roars erupting from the kaiju, a scaled back heaving and eyes glinting with intent to kill, destroy and attack. Choruses of commands erupt from the headset, Sonia’s tired voice blending with Kazuichi’s panicked tone and Pekoyama’s hushed assessment of Kuzuryuu’s condition go unnoticed. Hajime shifts in the harness, glancing at Komaeda and hurriedly punching in commands to the Jaeger. A metal creaking, the sound of angry waves below them and the awful, screeching howls of the kaiju followed by a thick silence pierced only by Komaeda’s cry of horror.
And suddenly, Hajime’s arm is gone.
It’s sharp metal falling from the top of the Jaeger, the kaiju’s claws ripping away at the mecha. Hajime should be feeling pain, but despite the lack of his left arm below the shoulder he can only think of white haze and tries to remember the colour of Komaeda’s eyes.
(And then, Nagito’s link with Hajime is cut and a soundless cry echoes through the Jaeger.)
(If only it had been a different reality, a universe far from kaiju, some place in a school, maybe, or possibly a game, would they have been happy?)
Ok, I'm going to present one of list of most favorite anime/manga/light novel series in mosaic in chronological order and will give reasons why I love series and made it on the list.
Reason being is cuz my tastes have changed over time and some series aged well and some didn't, and you'll see why that is when I give my thoughts and reasons.
However, I will give an honorable mention on here, since it won't show up on here. You'll come to see my patrician tastes as 4chan delicately likes to put it haha (yes, I'm a channer and I love trolling with the kids there hahaha that place is information gold that's real and legit.)
1.) Evangelion: Let's face it, this is like most people from the 90's top selection. Not only is it vintage for being around for 20 years and iconically dark for a dark shounen (boy's) series, it left a major impact on the industry and the world in ways that most people, even I underestimated. Infact, I'd venture out to say that this series has aged perfectly well compared to lots of others during its time period. It has definitely aged far better compared to Cowboy Bebop and Betterman and all of it's contemporary peers in the competition back in the day. Infact, we're a few years ahead of that series now, which is strange cuz most of us probably didnt expect to see life past 2010 and 21 hahaha. As a whole, this series was far better compared to everyone else. Now, admittedly, it was dark and has some themes that provoke good questions for society at the time in terms of "what if's." At the time, you can tell that the director was a major nihilist and didn't like the direction the world was going, and you can basically see that in his work here. I know I don't have much to say about this series and it does sound like a weak biased argument and apologize for that, but in all honesty, it's done one thing that most series in the 90's was capable of doing: Stand well against the test of time. THAT's what made it impressive. Even though lots of stuff in it are very much obsolete and clunky now. I mean... all that clunky stuff... its hard to believe we used to live in an ugly world like that at one point in time.
2.) FLCL: Now, I'll admit, it IS overhyped and overrated. I sometimes still can't see the big deal behind it, but I will say this, for a 6 episode mini series, it's directed well with excellent art direction all around on the topic of growing up and coming of age. Back then, it did look very mature and course, but now that I'm older, it's definitely a kids series which was admittedly a bit too edgy and dark for it's time, but, I think could have done better had it been more balanced out being a bit more colorful and lighter instead of darker.
I suppose at that time when pop punk and me was going around that time, and correct me if I'm wrong here, I believe Japan was going thru an economic crisis at the time, which is probably why there was such a negative foul air over the future and industry of Japan and the world as a whole at the time, politically and economically speaking.
The series can be a bit of a cool watch if you're into that era of time, but I would venture to say it's one of those that I'd definitely like to keep in my library, along with stuff like Super Milk Chan and anything else that popped up at that time. It was progressive in it's own way coming off very gritty and crunchy in it's own sense if you understand what I mean about the rough comic aesthetic that it gave off at that time.
3.) Gurren Lagan: This was one of the last Gainax series before they ended up closing shop, and not to mention, progressed past it's predecessors in being extremely fast paced. I loved the art and direction and it was fast paced that had excellent action scenes and novel epic art. However, my main qualms about this series, is that it should have just been 1 season long. I feel that it failed past the time skip in the last 10 episodes and should have crunched the last episode into episode 13, therefore, preserving and making it a quality series holistically instead of being watered down and suffering overtime like Death Note did after volume 7 when L died. In Bakuman, you can tell that Ohba and Obata (Ashirogi Muto) when they made their (Death Note; It's obvious people) that they wanted to end it there to preserve its quality as an art as a whole so that it doesnt suffer, unfortunately, the editorial and the shuisa jump magazine pushed for it, which is why we got a weird asspull with Mello and Near after, and you can see how they wanted to end Death Note with this.)
Now, Gurren Lagan, I liked the direction, it was ok, but it also had some misses too over time. It wasnt perfect, but the direction was fresh for it's time. However... personally speaking, if I were to replace this with another series that deserves an honorable mention, and it's directed by one of my current favorite directors in the industry right now, it's Re: Cutie Honey, based on Go Nagai's manga back in the 70's as one of the first and original magical girls to come and pop up with it's modern digital groovy colorful and psychedelic disco aesthetic. I really loved the direction and way it came out and would love to endorse how much I love the direction behind these kinds of aesthetics in anime and manga. Personally, I'd like to see both modern and old school and see how they age 10-30 years from now, just like alot of series I grew up with over the yeras. This however, is NOW 10 years old and remember when it first came out and the internet and DA was all big about it with Ryoko and all that, but I admit that it was a bit overhyped, I like it, it was a bit sometimes edgy and weird, the weird was ok, edgy, at least it wasnt but it would have been better had it been toned down even with coolness and make it more cartoonier and it would have definitely succeeded. The final fight scene in the series is the best and loved it and wished that it ended sooner than it did, then the series would have ended perfectly. The last 10 episodes of that season was watered down, the plot was weakened and honestly wasnt a big fan after that. It's one of those 7/10 that could have been a 9/10 in my book.
4.) Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei: THIS. THIS SERIES IS BY FAR THE BEST THAT HAS CAME OUT IN THE PAST 3 DECADES! What's frustrating is that it was poorly marketed, underrated and poorly localized. It is by far one of the best directed anime series of all time that I haven't seen been topped off or progressed in yeras. The closes to it is the Monogatari series which is based off the light novel series and directed by the same director who took up the project. You can tell by the direction with the slides and the timing of the scene changes. Zetsubou however was fresh, creative for it's time and progressive and to this day, I still consider to be and supposed to be the future of anime and manga.
Based off the manga series by iconic mangaka Koji Kumeta, Kumeta was one of those guys who taught me how important critical tone and dialogue is when it comes to witty batter and writing when it comes to screenplay, writing and manga and the guy lets his frustrations out with gusto. I haven't seen anyone come as close to how good this guy is as a writer other than Sorachi of Gintama fame, who is also one of my top and favorite mangaka of all time. As a quality series as a whole, I also put it up there with Death Note, but much higher. I like his simplistic art style that he has adopted past his earlier works and the art style that changes over time that sticks out and can tell, it's his. and both the writing and the art compliment each other well perfectly with excellent satirical critical tones. You can tell that his writing style is pervasive in Joshiraku, Impatient Count and the Time Thief and toned down in his latest work Kakushigoto. (Yes, I'm a huge fan of this guy who is underrated and not well known and honestly wish he would get better credit than he currently deserves and is by far one of the best creative driving forces in the industry I have ever come across.)
What makes this series tick out and perfect art the gags and the dark truth satirical tones this series takes. The characters are original and fresh and very likable, memorable and have a charm that makes them attractive. Basically, the way he designed them holistically is far better compared to anything that Akamatsu of Love Hina and Negima has done and basically executes his work with excellent precision. The topics the teacher brings up are interesting and basically rags on everything that annoys him as he and his students debate about life topics in and out of school. You can say its like a modern high school version of charlie brown peanuts with a bit of a Tim Burton feel to it, but not as macabre and also somewhat cute. I like how he questions politics and law as well in this work of his and perfectly concludes it with 300 chapters in 30 volumes with a pretty comical yet grim ending that people will come to remember as a holistically quality work worth keeping and remembering for the years to come. This ended about roughly 5 years ago, so it has been around for quite a while the past 12 years and has done a good job aging for that generation of people who were around for the Haruhi and Lucky Star hype back then. This one is easily a 9 or 10/10, cuz its that good.
Localizing may be tough, but its best to appreciate it for what it is. Its still never came over here considering how good it was back then, but I can still see it as future of anime kind of things.
5.) Tatami Galaxy: Now this one is admittedly a bit pretentious with being known as a fast talking anime series for an older audience set in a university setting. I love the art direction, but the theme is kind of redundant, but it can be fun to watch. It's based off a light novel series which apparently gets alot of positive critical attention overseas, but the direction for the anime, you can say that its equivalent to the speed of the voices for the dubbing of Speed Racer back then. Having seen Speed Racer in it's original intended language, I love it far more and it's more natural and relaxed and presented in the way that it was meant to be and honestly, I loved it.
This however, is one of those ones if you want an articulate post modern art college watch and want to kick back and relax, as it can be somewhat confusing as he goes back in time alot and redoes things with every episode till the last episode. You can equate it to that of Haruhi's 2nd season of the Endless 8 arc where the same exact thing except presented differently in each episode is done, but this was better, and was probably one of the biggest trolls in anime history of all time. It CAN be pretentious but it isn't completely per se either.
6.) Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt: OK... I lied... THIS is one of the best progressive anime series with best art direction of all time. It's very western animation influenced in western cartoon format and very colorful. To me, THIS is what I'd still consider and call the future of anime and still should be looked at as such. Here are reasons why. It's simple, not in depth or edgy and dark, but it was just completely perfect all around to the point that it seriously does deserver a 10/10 in my book. Hands down.
Lasting only one season with a trolling cliffhanger, it is one of the best episodic series I have come to watch and enjoy as an anime series of all time and wish that more anime would adopt the kind of aesthetic this series brought to the table. Aside from probably being the LAST Gainax series before the director went on to form Trigger the upcoming years with Kill la Kill, Kiznaiver and currently airing Little Witch Academia, it stood out for it's colorful art direction and cartoony feel that it had which I feel most anime SHOULD have. Despite the history of anime and manga being heavily western influenced by Disney and the country's earliest calligraphy and erotic paintings and shunga back in the pre modern times.
Now, it IS raunchy and not for kids, so let me emphasize when I say that when you watch the dubs or the original with liberal subs, it can be taken out of context at times, but still... it is very raunchy and not really kid friendly, the context in its original language is admittedly very crude, but not as crude as the liberals and americans tend to portray it here theatrically in its direction. Infact, it's so Raunchy, Adult Swim CAN'T air it here in the states, considering that AS is mostly for kids and teens in the day and age and not really adult shows. I've seen adult series and honestly, alot of what I posted aren't considered as such, This one is more like teens and older adult with childish and kid like theatrics and appeal which is what I really like about it. So... its probability for one of those extremely leftist liberal families that are cool with sitting with their kids and educating and explaining content to their kid with guidance so they can be mature NOT to do or say those things that is presented on here, but realistically, the statical odds of things like that are extremely small to most likely less than 1%.
Admittedly, it DOES need a 2nd season and there is a following and demand for it, considering the way it had ended 7 years ago in Christmas of 2010. It's one of my favorite art directions at the time for cool stuff like Danganronpa, No More Heroes or Mad World, lots of games with colorful comic noir aesthetics like that and is honestly at the top of my list as one of the best landmarking and progressive anime series of this decade that to this day, STILL hasn't been topped off at all. It's easily a 10/10 in my book, so do watch with discretion.
7.) Eccentric Family: This one, I caught this one a bit late. This is from the same writer of the Tatami Galaxy Novel series and illustrated by Koji Kumeta of Zetsubou Sensei fame, so you can see I have a bit of my biases of my favorite people in the industry who team up and work together on different projects, this is one of them.
The plot is very simple and not complex and its not deep or edgy. It's quirky and fun with some colorful playful humor with alot of Japanese folktale lore presented in modern day japan. This series is very reminiscent to that of Paranoia Agent and has features that are similar to it, though unfortunately Satoshi Kon hasn't been with us since his passing in 2010. What's great about this is that a 2nd season has been green lit this year and will be airing this year, so you will be on time to hop on and enjoy the ride with the rest of us on this fun and quirky ride of tanukis and tengu.
8.) Kill la Kill: I'm sorry but I'm majorly biased cuz I love Ryuko chan and would love to wife her as my waifu obviously. But joking aside:
Kill la Kill is currently Trigger's most popular magnus opus in the industry right now and one of their earliest works. They have put out some stuff before they put this one out. They later ended up putting out Space Patrol Luluco and Kiznaiver at the same time last year which both performed well, but never outshined Kill la Kill to this day and so far, Little Witch Academia with a few OVAs the past few years and currently airing is expected to be the next big magnus opus that will outshine it. I can see it and like how kid friendly it is and it can't, mostly for the semi nudity and side boob that it shows. Not that that's a problem, but lots of conservatives will have a problem with it and can lose an audience because of things like that when marketed and presented to the public.
It's one of the first project after the director formed it after working on Panty and Stocking and did other shorts such as Sex, Violence and Machspeed, which is a knockoff of Panty and Stocking with a different comic noir aesthetic and were cameoed in Space Patrol Luluco along with Sucy from Little Witch Academia.
This series is a semi kids series and love it and would love to own the anime BDs for sure. There are subtle hints of politics in this series in terms of life fiber and alliances in the series. It's NOT the best but its decent and ok and not as progressive or articulate compared to the others I have mentioned on here, and had it tried to be progressive in the timeline trying to progress past them as a quality art, it would have definitely succeeded as a 10/10 and mostly gets roughly an 8 or 7 out of 10. 8 cuz I'm being nice and love Ryuko, but thats not an excuse or reason to give it an extra point.
The plot was simple, it wasnt that deep or edgy or dark, its somewhat colorful and cartoony is what I like about it and its not raunchy or explicit showing nipples or anything, its simple. It can be seen as for adults and older teens, its basically a coming of age for girls outgrowing their high school years and questions the nature of humans in society.
It can be seen for kids, but mostly kids at the age of 10, but I can see it definitely see it being coarse. Now, it's not as course and raunchy and tantalizing compared to To Love Ru which is indeed raunchy in a good light and thankfully not disgusting, but there's easter eggs that you'll see in the art and expression of the series where you'll see exposed areas in the reflection of the series that bypasses the censorship laws in japan for manga and anime on tv to the point that Yabuki has been taken to court a few times because of upset parents. Basically, he would literally draw in very subtle stuff like a vagina and clitoris in the reflections in the art and would be easily overlooked and most people even editorial wouldn't notice but bypassed censorship laws that not even hentai artists could do. I remember a documentary of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations when he went to Japan and sat with the mangaka who invented the tentacle rape to bypass Japanese censorship laws because of a loophole he noticed and exploited.
Same here, but he used reflections instead of blatant exposure. So if you read the series, if you look at water drops, metal reflectors or bubbles and mirrors, you will definitely be seeing vagina, penises and clitoris that you aren't allowed to be seeing and are outlawed on Japanese media but only because its bypassed censorship laws by exploiting a loophole found. This was noticed in To Love Ru Darkness, and the story behind it was kind of sad and understandable as Yabuki went thru a divorce with his wife who caused him trouble and left him being a single parent, so it was in a sense of him retaliating and venting off his anger and frustration off of society and pushed the border which gave him the name (madman yabuki.) He is known for his earlier work Black Cat which ended prematurely on 20 volumes last decade and is the main artist and collaborates with the writer of the series. But is known to be raunchy and cleanly tantalizingly provocative for sure.
So there is debate, its questionable, its hard to categorize and tell at times (sorry, psychology talk here) but its definitely memorable for Ryuko and the trigger studio for putting another quality series out there. Personally, had the plot, direction and writing been better with better art direction all round in being progressive, it could have easily gotten a 10/10 in presenting something in a way that's unique and in a way that's yet to have been done before, there aren't much annoying tropes which I liked about it, but still, had they done better research, worked harder and didnt half assed it and outperformed, I would definitely have been raving about it for yeras to come and age well to landmark and progress the timeline of the industry's history.
9.) Last but not least, SPACE DANDY: I LOVE THIS SERIES. IT's colorful, brilliant, hip and amazing all around and definitely Watanabe's best work as an anime director the past 20 years. This series definitely outshines any work he's done with Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo combined by giving it a colorful and quirky cartoony feel and making it enjoyable and fun to watch that's not dark, but it's unique and experimental in the story telling models and style of series for what it was. Rather, it wasn't episodic, but there was lots of academic themes in science and philosophy that are mentioned alot that surpasses sci fi in the past which is WHY it's currently his best work, It's brilliant touching up on topics such as physics and mathematics, the pure sciences and talks about stuff such as different dimension, time travel, and the like and he does it in such a way that its excecuted perfectly and enjoyable to watch all around as a holistic watch. Over time, Ic an see it aging well for the next 10-15 yeras, depending on how society, literature, thought and technology goes and progresses over time. Its definitely watanabes best and creative work, even though he has experimented and messed with mixing things up with different cultures and time periods, this however, was not so much as by the book, but he takes that and applies it and get creative and makes it better and doesnt try too hard like he did in the past, but keeps it simple. THAT shows true mastery. Its similar to that of Ashirogi Muto's current project Platinum End. By the book, but applied and creative past that, and that's exactly what Dandy did. Though, his work after Dandy; Terror in Resonance, was his weakest and bad project and waste of funding since it was a culmination of everything that happened the past 2 decades all rolled up in one and dont consider it creative or great at all in all honest and one of his weakest efforts as a director.
I enjoy it far more than bebop, bebop wasnt as great as I got older, mostly because I realized that Spike was a loser asshole who basically had an affair with someone else's woman and basically caused a shit storm over selfish ambition and in all honesty, dont consider him cool in the least, but rather, just a complete fucking asshole who thinks he's cool when he won't admit it when in all honesty, he's really the bad guy in all this and all this plot would have been avoided, had he not been such a complete fucking prick (yeah, school teaches you to think very differently.) Dandy on the other hand may be a loser, but he's a loser with a good heart and good ambitions whose kind of like Gintoki, not as good or cool, but he has his own charm which is what makes him great. Dandy is indeed, one of the better works of his career and catalogue and very proud to say that this is something that I'd own in my library on BD for sure. It's tough to give this a 9 or 10 out of 10. I'd say 9.5, but for the sake of rounding off and keeping it simple and as to how much I liked it and trying my best NOT to be biased, I'll just be lazy and keep it simple and say that this series deserves a 10/10 for not just being what I mentioned earlier, but because this series offers alot of variety and diversity like Bakuman did, and you can tell that Watanabe experimented and exercised alot of new things and tried many many things that made this series so great. It's down to earth, kept simple, fun, colorful and enjoyable and definitely one of those realistic satire that did question and bring up things in today's societal issues.
My advice, don't get put off by Boobies which is like Hooters, keep it simple and don't get too deep or complex about it, thats where you go wrong already for critical analysis, keep it simple and say that it also keeps in touch with reality when it comes to human nature and the true nature of the world all around us that the truth is, nobody really knows anything at all in a socially constructed society that we all in this day and age live in consciously and unconsciously. That's what makes it a very great series in general. I'd consider it a family friendly series which is why I give it a 10/10. It's not disgusting, provocatively grotesque and raunchy, but very clean, fun, comical and enjoyable for ALL ages. No matter what culture or where you're from.
10.) Honorable Mention.
OK, I'm getting tired, but this one HAD to be mentioned cuz it's really good and deserves a mention:
Monogatari Series. I had a hard time choosing between this and Eccentric Family. Both are not well known and obscure, but... I decided to give it to Eccentric, because its not as popular, so it was hard to choose between the two.
Based on a currently ongoing and popular Light Novel series, the series follows around young Arrarragi, who basically becomes a half vampire after getting bit by one. What makes this series stick out is the dialogue and relationships he has. There's lots of drama and interaction but done in the intelligent and pretentious way. Not as pretentious as Tatami Galaxy, but you can tell it can be.
It is directed by the same guy who directed the Zetsubou Sensei anime, so you can tell with the slides and screens and timing the series has with it's own unique style and aesthetic. Now, what I really love about this series is the girls he talks to, their curses and the art direction. It's beautiful. I love how articulate and artsy it can be and you can tell its pretentious, but its not annoying or smug about it. It tries to keep it simple, but some characters are alike that. I'm a huge fan of the series, I love how it's progressing and indecisive it can be. Its got its own feel but can be cartoony and you can tell what references they refer to.
I love this series alot, so far, it's got a good 7 or 8 out of 10 from me. I'd definitely like to buy the novels and books if localized, but its definitely one of those honorable mentions that needs to be put out there cuz of how good it is and the staff involved in the project behind it and really enjoy it for what it is. Its good art watch if you want something progressive. It is somewhat progressive but still doesnt top off zetsubou sensei, its kind of the same but more artsy... they're both artsy... but int heir own way and comes later, but in my opinion not as good, but its still good and doesnt lack. I really love the dialogue and interaction in this which is what makes it enjioyable to watch.
And that's it... its alot but I will post more later. I will post a favorite of favorite manga/anime adaptations. It'll be stuff like One Piece, Gintama, Death Note, Bakuman, Rurouni Kenshin, My Hero Academia, D. Gray Man, Assassination Classroom, Hunter x Hunter, FMA, Yuyu Hakusho and Embalming: Another tale of Frankenstein. They're mostly Jump series as you can tell, but I like them alot and enjoy them a great deal and will give my thoughts and opinions of them later on. Thanks all.
Another Sample
Going to the other half of the story, following Sabrina as the main character in her side of things.  The second half of the series’ overall story, a very close friend and I were working on it for a long while before we went our own ways.  I’m not sure if he even reads the blog or cares anymore, but I figure I might as well post a sample of what we got done before the schism.  A light overhead hummed, barely illuminating the empty, grimy padded room.  Small, four walls, one door in and out, a table in the center and a chair close to the door.  A figure resting upon an upright stretcher across from the chair, no arms or legs, it’s body belted and buckled to the steel slab with leather and metal clasps over it’s torso and neck.  It didn’t move, didn’t speak, it’s eyes fixated on the door.  Nothing moved, nothing made a sound, just the inner trumpeting of breath and a drumming heartbeat.  Several minutes passed.  Ten.  Twenty.  Thirty.   An hour and more before anything happened, the door slowly swinging open, a figure stepped into the light, followed by two red-clad guards, heavily armored and packing serious weaponry, closing and locking the door behind him; the two soldiers taking up their positions on both sides of the door.  In his hand was a clipboard, digital, a faint blue glow coming off the screen.  He nodded, setting it down and taking a seat.  Several seconds of silence passed before either of them spoke, the man clearing his throat.  The figure looked at him, only it’s eyes moving.  It was fascinating- and terrifying- at the same time; knowing that a pair of blank red eyes, no pupil, no iris, just red sclera looking at you directly through long, greasy red hair.  The canine removed his glasses, running his grey furred fingers through his hair.   “Patient B-55.  My name is Doctor Kal R. Jurael.  I’m going to be your new psychologist for the time being.”  No response, just a blank gaze at him. “Nothing?  Not even a hello?”  Again, nothing, she just stared at him.  He took a deep breath, exhaling in a sigh. “B-55?  Are you okay?”  He sounded almost concerned, like a father to his child.  Several seconds passed before continuing. “I see.  Anyways...Let’s get started, shall we?  I want to start with your past.  How you arrived in CORE?”   She continued to mindlessly watch him, not a word uttered.  The man stood up and patted down his long, white coat. He could tell this was going to be difficult.   “B-55, please, work with me here.  I want to help you.”  He hummed  “I just want to know how you got here all those years ago.  Just to start.”   Her eyes just followed him back and forth as he paced and spoke, his words falling on deaf ears. “Don’t bother.”  one of the soldiers spoke.  “It never talks when we want it to, haven’t been able to get a damn thing out of this trash since day one.” His tone spoke almost resentment and hatred towards her.  Kal sat back down and just watched her, his eyes wandering up and down her body.  He looked to the soldier on the left, looking at the goggles of the helmet to attempt eye contact.  “Can it speak at all?  Is it mute?”  The guard shook his head at the canine “No, it’s not.”   Kal scoffed and turned his attention back to the woman.   “Listen, I know you’ve been through alot…”  He looked at the stumps that remained of her arms and legs.  “If I were in your position, I’d want to die. Die or be free.  I would want nothing more than some form of release.  But you, B-55…”  He looked at her patient record momentarily.  “You’re...different.  Resilient, strong, terrifying.”  He turned the file to her and pushed it forward.  A lot of the file was marked ‘redacted’, most of the data missing.  She didn’t even look, her gaze never leaving the doctor's eyes.  It made him feel uneasy, scared even.  He turned to the soldier on his right, eyeing his radio.  “Bring him in.”  The soldier nodded and began to speak unintelligible gibberish into the small speaker on his shoulder.  They waited, nobody moving, barely breathing, only the faint sound of the air vent and light overhead in the room.   The door opened slowly, quietly.A large, obese canine in a blue-gray security uniform walked into the chamber, his girth taking up quite a bit of the room as he was seated before her.  The doctor set her record before him and patted his shoulder.   "You're the only one it'll speak to, so I’ve heard."  He tapped the datapad, a note about him highlighting itself complete with a photograph and employment history at the Asylum.  The large man looked down at it and huffed.   "Yeah, we're friends.  I...I think. " his gaze moved to B-55, a look of sorrow on his face at her predicament.  The overweight dog cleared his throat, setting his hands on the cold metal table.   "Sabrina…?”  He gave a weak smile, trying to look at her eyes through her long, stringy, greasy red hair.   “Sabby, you okay...?" His shaky voice filled with concern.  She seemed to respond, looking at him, at his mouth as silent words passed his lips, a faint smile crossing her face before she nodded at him.  He gave a brighter smile back at her, barely able to keep his eyes off her removed limbs, her blood red stare, everything about her just screamed at him in his own mind to do something,  to help.  Something he was unable to do. “You will refer to it by its designation as well as ‘it’, not ‘her’, not ‘Sabrina’, not ‘Sabby’.  Just ‘it’ and B-55.  Are we clear?” "What are you trying to get out of her anyways, Doc?" He asked, Kal sighing a response.   "Same thing we've been trying to get for a long time...Answers."  the doctor fished something out of his coat pocket, a small orange and yellow pack of cigarettes and a lighter.  "You smoke?"  He asked the large man.   "No, sorry.  Not my thing."  The doctor shrugged and lit up before he glimpsed at B-55, she was looking at his hand almost intently; at the pack.  He looked down and then back up at her, holding the pack towards her.
"Can I have one...?"
She finally spoke, her voice soft and shaky, one would go so far as to say she had the innocence of a child. The doctor almost gasped in shock, his eyes frantically scanning to reassure he wasn’t hearing things.   "Erm...well...yes, I suppose..."  He walked around the table, fishing a single cigarette from the pack.   Her eyes locked on the white cylinder, he brought his hand up, her mouth opening to take it. "I wouldn't do that, doctor." One of the guards interjected.  He took a bounding step forward, placing his armored hand on the doctor's wrist.   "Last guy who did that got his hand bitten off."  The doctor lowered his hand, coughing slightly, nervously, at the thought of losing his hand as well.   “W-Well, then...”  he glared angrily at B-55 before stepping away, back behind the large dog.   “Alright, Sabrina… Tell the good doctor what he wants to know… please?”  She seemed to scoff at it, turning her head away from the group.  Refusal at it’s most basic level.  The doctor and the man looked at each other for a moment, the fat dog shrugging his shoulders.  “If she doesn’t wanna talk, that’s all there is to it.”  He set his hands on the table, reading over the datapad for the moment.  Medical records, patient interview transcripts, and a sub-folder simply marked ‘Nefas’.  It wouldn’t respond to his taps, fingerprint recognition locking him out.  He set the pad back down as the doctor swiftly retrieved it.   “Don’t pry where your eyes don’t belong.” He scoffed, adjusting his coat before continuing.   “Now then….” He muttered, clearing his throat. “Two transfers within a seventeen year period. Seven interviews; unsuccessful, I might add, over the past five years, one ending in the murder of the presiding psychologist...Two escape attempts from this facility alone, several incidents of assault on asylum guards, assault with a deadly weapon, battery, murder of staff and security personnel…Multiple counts on each.” He scrolled down, reading it over.   “I could go on.  I have your history with us as well as your criminal records from CORE Sec. Don't you not feel guilt?  Some form of anguish over what you’ve done?”  She stared for a moment before shaking her head, no words, no sound, just a shake.  “Doc, like I said, you’re not gonna-” “I KNOW, you obese buffoon!...Urgh, I...I know…” He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “I'm the psychologist here, not you.” Sabrina looked to the door, pondering for a moment before looking to the doctor with a chuckle and a smirk. “You wanna know how I got here so badly?”  The doctor almost froze in place, turning his head to her slowly.   “...Go on, B-55.”  Sabrina smirked back, cocking an eyebrow.   “It all started when I was a teenager, about five hundred years ago, give or take…”
