Diving into the Details
Let’s address some specific aspects that users often search for regarding this scale:
Amazon Basics Digital Kitchen Scale with LCD Display Battery Life: Battery life varies depending on usage, but users generally report a decent lifespan with standard AAA batteries. Turning the scale off when not in use helps conserve battery power.

Amazon Basics Digital Kitchen Scale with LCD Display Calibration: The need for calibration is infrequent. However, if you suspect the scale is inaccurate, you can try calibrating it. For most home cooks, though, this scale offers sufficient accuracy for recipes.
Potential Drawbacks
Durability: While the scale is functional, the plastic construction might not be as durable as higher-priced models.
Accuracy at Very Low Weights: As mentioned, accuracy can sometimes be an issue when measuring extremely small quantities (e.g., less than a gram).
Display Angle: Depending on your countertop height, the display angle might not be optimal for all users.
Overall Impression
The Amazon Basics Digital Kitchen Scale with LCD Display provides a solid combination of functionality, affordability, and ease of use. It’s an excellent choice for home cooks and bakers who need a reliable scale for everyday measurements. While it might not be the most durable or precise option on the market, its value proposition is hard to beat.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to some commonly asked questions about kitchen scales and the Amazon Basics Digital Kitchen Scale:
Is Amazon Basics scale accurate? Yes, for most home cooking and baking purposes, the Amazon Basics scale is accurate enough. However, professional chefs or bakers requiring extreme precision might need a higher-end model.
What is the best digital kitchen scale to buy? The “best” scale depends on your needs and budget. For basic home use, the Amazon Basics scale is a solid choice. For more advanced features and higher accuracy, consider brands like Escali, OXO, or Ozeri.
How do I reset my Amazon Basic scale? Typically, you can reset the scale by removing the batteries for a few seconds and then reinserting them. Check the user manual for specific instructions.
What is the weight limit on the Amazon Basics food scale? The weight limit is usually specified in the product description on Amazon. Typically, it’s around 11 pounds (5 kilograms).
Why is Amazon Basics cheap? Amazon Basics products are often cheaper because they are designed to be functional and affordable, focusing on essential features and cutting costs on premium materials or branding.
Can a digital scale be off by 10 pounds? A digital scale being off by 10 pounds is highly unusual and indicates a serious malfunction. It’s likely broken and needs to be replaced.
What is the number one kitchen scale? There isn’t a single “number one” scale, as the best option depends on individual needs. Popular and highly-rated scales include models from OXO, Escali, and Ozeri.
How to tell if a digital scale is accurate? The best way is to use a known weight (e.g., a calibrated weight, coins) and see if the scale displays the correct measurement. You can also compare it to another reliable scale.
What is the most accurate scale to weigh yourself at home? For weighing yourself, a bathroom scale specifically designed for body weight is more suitable than a kitchen scale. Digital bathroom scales generally offer good accuracy.
What does 0 LD mean on a digital scale? “0 LD” usually indicates that the scale is overloaded. It means the weight placed on the scale exceeds its maximum capacity.
How can I calibrate my digital scale? Some scales have a built-in calibration function. Refer to the user manual for specific instructions. If your scale doesn’t have this function, you can use a known weight to check its accuracy and adjust accordingly if possible.
Why is my digital kitchen scale not working? Common reasons include low battery, overloading, or a malfunction. Try replacing the batteries, ensuring you’re not exceeding the weight limit, and checking for any visible damage.
What is the best kitchen scale to buy? Again, it depends on your needs. For basic use, the Amazon Basics scale is good. For more features and accuracy, consider Escali, OXO, or Ozeri. https://moderntik.com/amazon-basics-digital-kitchen-scale-with-lcd-display/

Turns out Wonder Woman's 1930s design is somehow closer to how the ancient Greeks depicted Amazons then most "greek-inspired" WW redesigns from the 21st c. This was inspired my me going "Hold up... why is Diana always depicted as an ancient Greek when the Amazons were specifically... NOT the ancient Greeks.

girldad!butcher dressing as santa for the girls but they clock him straight away lol
he’s spent the past 20 minutes in a bathroom that is getting hotter by the second. he’s stuffing cushions into his red suit to give him the iconic belly and making sure his faux white beard is covering all the dark hair on the lower half of his face
he curses under his breath when he bangs his head against the solid wall and wonders aloud why the fuck he is doing this
then he hears your daughters giggle as they run around your home; fuelled by hot cocoa loaded with whipped cream and marshmallows. he’s doing this for your girls. a flu had stopped your daughters from going to the local mall to see Santa so you decided that butcher could bring Santa to them
of course, butcher took some convincing but hearing how excited your daughters had been made it worth it
he sneaks out of the bathroom and runs to the front door before anyone can see his costume. he bellows a ho ho ho as he slams the door behind him. butcher smiles at all three of you as you all take in Father Christmas stood in front of you; admittedly, you have the biggest grin of all
“wow girls- look! Santa came to see you because daddy and i told him you were too poorly last week!”
your girls break into peals of laughter, clutching their bellies and doubling over in near hysteria. “daddy looks so funny dressed like that”, your youngest goes over and slaps his cushion padded stomach which makes both of them laugh harder, a look of confusion crosses your face
“dad, santa is going to be so mad that you dressed up as him” your oldest chides, a look of pure disappointment in her father across her face

I still think it’s incredible that people blindly accept big brands = unquestionably good when regarding pet care. If you can accept that human care products have been at times poorly researched or downright harmful (and with the brand’s knowledge) like in the Johnson & Johnson scandal, why do you not believe that a brand would mislead or lie to you when it’s regarding your pet?
#Just like. an insane amount of kickback when criticizing big brands#guys. you aren’t bad for feeding any specific food#But for the love of God please give Hartz a Google before using any of their products#basically just like. Please research what you feed or give your pets#your Amazon-found painted small pet chews are probably toxic#People are ready to rip me apart over saying ‘be critical of what you give your pet’ when that’s how you should be treating anything#including medical products you buy for yourself

Death of the Author is still under review for Amazon's publishing, but should be published (hopefully) sometime in May/early June.
The Holy Lands are Slick with Blood is getting pretty good attention, so don't be surprised if it gets a 2026 release... I should start working on some things for that.
Oh and then there's something coming for September/autumn of this year depending on the made-up publishing schedule I made in my head.
#I could delay the autumn release and publish THLASWB#yeah i might do that#except THLASWB is a monster of a book (over 100k words) so unfortunately Amazon is gonna make it more expensive than DOTA#creative writing#writeblr#writers on tumblr#writing#writer#writerscommunity#writing life#writer problems#writers#writers and poets#im really attached to THLASWB and I want it to be perfect (in my eyes) before i release it into the world#basically a helicopter parent lol

Vicarious (Homelander x Female!Reader) pt. 9
a/n: a shorter chapter before some heavy plot related things, no smut, just vibes (Cross Posted on AO3, as per usual)
Warnings: Cigarettes, a blink and you'll miss it allusion to Suicide, Plus Sized Reader (who is also getting very bitter)
Summary: An interlude, before the guillotine falls
Vicarious Masterlist
You were never violent.
Of course, throughout your adolescence, you could've been described as rowdy. Hell, at some occasions even disruptive. But never violent.
You've always despised violenc. The ugliness of it, the destruction it brought to every sensible conversation. You were raised to be better, pure and simple. Your mother put so much pressure on your education, and your father, who experienced all the roughness the world had to offer, made sure you would never have to endure it yourself. It's ironic, in a tragic sort of way, how Vought slowly took all the teachings you've lived by, and made them into their own image.
The chasm between Smirnoff and Fireball seemed to grow more and more, with every interview, every public appearance. They made you into a perfect bastardization of a rebellious teen. Of course, old enough, so the salivating masses of fans could lust for you in peace. But just naive enough, for Homelander to swoop in, and show you the better way. A heroes journey, through and through. The perfect, uplifting story for young Americans to relate to, yet old-fashioned enough for their parents not to grow resentful.
The ideally fuckable feminist, who is just as strong as any man, but still needs one to show her the ropes. Still needs a dominant male to guide her, because she herself can't recognize the good fight, from the unnecesary one. The script takes your personal opinions, and turns them into jokes, a ridiculously idealistic spiel.
It's hard to read your lines, and not want to vomit, but you hold it in. You hold everything in these days.
The obvious lack of respect for you as a person. The constant milking of your presence, as the Cool New Thing. You don't even blink, when they put your face on a series of products for plus-sized women, bra bands extenders included. You bite down on your tongue hard enough to feel blood, listening to exciting projects coming your way. Including, but not limited to, dancing in a miniskirt next to A-Train in his new music video. And most importantly, when Homelander comes-a-knocking, you answer.
You present yourself on a silver platter, just unwilling enough, not to make him bored. Just comliant enough, not to cause any serious damage to yourself.
And you pretend not to hear the snide comments, when you enter the smoking area.
"Whore." Hard to argue with.
"I wonder who she fucked to get here." Oh, they'd be truly surprised if they knew.
"Homelander's new toy." You can't even get mad at this one.
There's a certain feeling of freedom, in knowing exactly what you are. You can't sit here, with three months left on your contract, and pretend this isn't for the money. If someone had said these things about you earlier, before Homelander decided to play out scenes from some cheesy bodice reaper, you would feel offended. Now however, it doesn't really matter, does it?
You can be a whore for three more months. Perhaps you're regressing into your teenage years of raging, but you don't seem to care.
Why should Vought be the only ones who do the milking?
The heightened ventilation in the smoking area makes the sweat from your impromptu training session cool down on your body. A shiver runs up your spine, as you lean against the cement pillar, taking a long drag from your cigarette, taking refuge in the way smoke burns through your respiratory system. Somehow, this self-destructive habit, has become one of the tame ones.
It's getting late at the Tower. People siphon through the glass door, into the ever-busy streets of New York. Waves upon waves of business casual, or just business, depending on their occupation. Watching them leave, you try to focus on the imaginary feeling of your lungs filling up with tar, which you will throw up in a week or so. Another side effect of your healing powers. No matter what you do, it seems you're destined for a very long, very healthy life. Unfortunately.
As time passes, your thoughts drift to darker places. Disgust has settled into the very core of your bones, making you unable to look at yourself in the mirror. Sometimes, Fireball looks back at you, her perfect teeth, and perfect smile, and perfect, shining eyes making your skin crawl. On other occasions it's Smirnoff, and those are the times you truly despise.
Being confronted with just how much this job has taken from you... It always feels like an unexpected blow, a twisted feeling, squirming inside your stomach, until bile threatens to rise up. How much older you look now? You were never an optimist, never the one to greet the world with the brightest of smiles. But at least you smiled. Now, the expression seems so forced, so tied to Fireball's cheery persona, you can't express joy, and be honest with yourself. And it only took three months. Truly unbelievable, what this life can do to a person.
You can recognize his footsteps now, the thud of his boots on the linoleum floor, sending a shockwave of shivers running up your back. The rough leather of his glove finds purchase at the base of your neck, as soon as he stops next to you, the seams scratching against your skin.
It's quite remarkable, how easily you've become accustomed to his presence.
He still has that uncanny way of terrifying you, but somehow, you're used to it as well. To the sickening way his eyes glide over your body, the leering stares, the unwanted touches. But the worst thing is, you've taught yourself to like it. Or maybe, the need for roughness was always within you, you can't be sure. What you're sure of however, is that when he pushes you down onto your knees, you offer your mouth like it's second nature. Even if your teeth come with it.
- Knew I'd find you here - he says, his voice almost casual, the undercurrent of tension doesn't slip past you though.
- I'm growing predictable - you muse, eyes locked on the window in front of you, trying to ignore the unfortunate warmth, that spreads through your stomach at his proximity.
A taxi, a black Sedan, the flickering streetlight, casting shaky shadows on the sidewalk.
He lets out a huff, a sound locked somewhere between a scoff, and a laugh. His hand lets go of your nape, fingers tracing the path down your spine, until they hit the edge of your leather corset. In response, you put out your cigarette, the rest of the smoke being lifted into the vent. As you turn to face him, his touch glides from your back, to your waist, testing the softness of your flesh, running his finger over every roll.
There must be something fetishistic about his fascination with your figure. You know him well enough, not to delude yourself with the notion of him simply finding you attractive. Of course, you are. And you're aware of it. Yet, somehow, the longer you are with him, the more you're becoming convinced his idea of you is a skewed one. Not sure which way, but you know, deep within your soul, there's something indescribable, when he looks at you now. Which might be more terrifying, than all his strength, all his cruelty. Unpredictability is his greatest weapon.
- Stillwell wants to see us at her office - he sighs in exasperation, his fingers running back and forth, over the upper edge of your corset.
Well that's not good. That's never good.
You've been a frequent visitor in her office, sure, but always alone. Somehow, you feel like his inclusion is an omen of a storm to come. And you're not sure, how many storms you can take, before the contract is over.
- Any idea why?
Homelander shrugs, eyes trained on the way faux leather digs into your breasts, how they seem to spill from above. His expression remains unreadable, jaw clenched and lips pursed together. He's thinking again.
It's not good if he's thinking.
Even worse, you can see tension locked in his jaw, in his shoulders. Something is wrong, you just don't understand what.
By all means, the last two weeks were going quite well for you, and for him in extension. You've been breezing through interviews, singing his praise whenever you could. The shooting for your movie finished a while back, the premier set in stone. His points basically skyrocketed, every Twitter tag buzzing with positive comments about him, which was exactly why you were hired.
And you, yourself, have only three months left here. You've been convincing yourself it'll pass like a breeze, every time he leaves your room.
It's a simple routine, you can live with for the remainder of your time here. Work during the day, let him get his fill, when it strikes his fancy. Seems perfectly symbiotic, even if your delight in the pain he can bring is self-destructive. It helps you forget, that you're selling your soul, your body, everything you stand for.
At this point, any sense of dignity has been fucked out of you, quite literally at that.
Before you can open your mouth to say anything, he comes back from whatever daze he was under, blue eyes snapping up to your face. He flashes you a quick, tight-lipped smile, and takes a step back.
- C'mon, time to earn some living - he says in a flippant tone, almost as if he's scolding you, and it takes all the strength within you, not to roll your eyes.
And yet, despite his words, he makes no move to step away. Instead, he leans in closer, taking in a deep breath. A frown settles onto your features. Sure, he's always been quite touchy, but at least he's been controlling himself in public. Today, however, something is clearly going through his head, and you can feel a treacherous spike of anxiety rise within your throat.
There seems to be a guillotine blade, hanging over your head.
- God... - he sighs, and your anxiety mounts.
Homelander hovers over the junction between your neck and your shoulder, his hot breath making your skin tingle. Making you anticipate teeth. And yet, he seems frozen in place, taking deep breaths, so close to touching you, but not crossing this line just yet.
- Everything oka-
Homelander cuts you off, pressing his hand over your mouth, his whole expression twitching into a frown. And then, just as quickly as he shuts you up, he finally takes a step back. Then another, and then another, his eyes pinning you in place with the sheer intensity of... Something. For the first time in a very long time, you're not sure what to do. It's been so easy to read him, to categorize all the different expressions, different desires that flicker through his eyes. Not today though, today you're completely out of your depth.
The elevator ride is completely, deadly silent.
You're watching the individual numbers light up on the display, growing closer and closer to Stillwell's office. He's standing slightly behind you, hidden from your sight, although you can feel his gaze drilling itself into your neck. And then, you can't take it anymore, your heartbeat growing to an almost deafening degree in your ears.
Homelander's chest expands in a sharp intake of breath, when you face him, like he's been caught doing something he shouldn't. Like he cares about what you think, which is a cosmically unrealistic idea. His eyes flicker around your face, dropping to the floor, then back to your eyes, almost as if he can't hold eye contact for too long.
- Alright, what is it? - you ask, crossing your arms in front of your chest, not missing the way his gaze immediately falls on your chest.
Defensiveness seems to be his default setting in situations such as this, so his quick scoff doesn't impress you much anymore. Neither do the quick shrug of his shoulders, or the second scoff. He even adds a dismissive roll of his eyes, all of which you take on, your unimpressed expression not flinching.
- I don't know what you're talking ab-
- You're acting weird, and I want to know what's up, before we see Stillwell - you explain, knowing full well, that he hates being interrupted.
Or questioned, or sassed, or spoken to, or ignored. It's honestly ridiculous.
His jaw clicks, blue eyes staring at you. Not with anger, or annoyance, but some secret third thing, you don't really want to unpack right now. And then, he looks away, a sharp breath leaving him. The reaction is so unexpected, it only cements your worries, confusion stacking upon your already fried nerves.
You want him to laugh it off, in that cruel, mocking way he approaches any subject, which doesn't matter to him. It's an infuriating habit of his, but it's miles better than not knowing. Being stuck in this strange limbo, where something is clearly going on, and yet being unable to identify what.
- Your contract - his voice sounds rough, low in his throat, as he looks down at the elevator floor - When does it end?
Oh, that's not good. Your blood runs cold in your veins, at the strange inflection in his voice. An almost wistful tone, something quiet and tense.
You've been avoiding the topic of your contract the best you could, somehow feeling like the idea of you leaving wouldn't fly past him. There was no need to poke the bear, but it seems the bear has been poking himself without your aid.
Your arms fall at your sides, and you shake your hands in that awfully familiar way, he's been continuously seeking out, like a shark sniffing for blood.
- January - you answer quietly - Right after New Years.
Now it's time for him to frown, his lips pulling down into a small pout, that would look adorable on a child. Instead, it's locked on a face of a grown ass man, which takes away from it quite significantly.
- That's before my birthday - he murmurs, and you have to turn your head away, so he doesn't see the look of absolute disdain on your face.
His fucking birthday. Of course that's what he's worried about. Not having you around for a quick birthday blowjob. Anger rises in your gut, your cheeks heating up ever-so-slightly. Thankfully, he's too busy sulking, to notice the sudden changes in your body. And before he has time to get any more ideas in his head, the elevator lets out a ding, metal doors revealing the familiar corridor leading to Stillwells office.
He composes himself with remarkable quickness, biting back whatever else was brewing beneath the surface. Pushing past you, he walks with a confident stride towards the double door, leaving you to awkwardly shuffle after him, your heart beating faster with each step. The door damn near splinters under Homelander's push, and soon enough, you're faced with a very professional, very unimpressed Madelyn Stillwell.
Your eyes immediately fall onto a rather large flier on her desk. Beautiful, golden letters scream In Memoriam at you, and your heart stops in your chest.

With Davis being a thief, it makes sense that he keeps a look that is akin to the 'create character' screen in video games to go undetected everywhere. It's as basic as possible with nothing that would make him stand out.
Instead of having an iconic recognizable hairdo, :

his hair is short cut and even. It cannot be styled in any way. Handy to put the mask on and take it off without raising suspicion with disheveled hair:

Instead of keeping a beard or a clean-shaven look, :

he has a basic stubble that makes him look like an everyday man:

He doesn't have any piercings, tattoos, or any markings. Chris' tattoos were covered with makeup:

They also made him put on brown contacts to hide his blue eyes:

Something that was pretty painful for him:

They wouldn't make him go through the trouble of putting on brown contacts and have brown eyes for no reason. I think Davis puts brown contacts while robbing so that if anyone gets an ID on him, it's a man with brown eyes.
So then. Why, after putting so much effort into being undetectable, does he have such distinct jewelry on him? :

This would give him away to the police quite easily.
I think the only reason he would wear such recognizable accessories is if they were given by someone special and important to him. It could be his girlfriend Traci. If it's from her, it would be a good way to show she does mean so much to him WHILE he hurts her terribly in the story.
Or it could be from a parent (Nick Nolte and Jennifer Jason Leigh could play em). Or a friend, associate, or anyone else who played a pivotal role in his life. It could also be that he got them for himself and that's why they're special to him.
