I found an MLP brush pack and went a LITTLE mad with power. Anyway here’s wonderwall.

So since I was a young lad I’ve had a Next Gen MLP au floating around in my head and I was especially fond of my Applebloom/Twist kids. Sugar Bee (he/they) and Jazz Apple (they/he/she) are both the Element of Generosity, but Jazz Apple is the one who usually wields it. Jazz likes the adventure of being an element, but Sugar Bee is much more reserved and prefers to strategize over constantly rainbow lasering things.

Meanwhile Apple Toffee (she/her) does NOT want to be here. If she had the choice she would never leave her bed. She doesn’t really want a cutie mark because she sees it as “growing up”, and she’s not quite ready yet.

One last note, Jazz Apple’s hair is funky because AJ is trans and was the surrogate for him. AJ’s genetics were still a little fucked from the Tree of Harmony, which passed to Jazz. She doesn’t SEEM to show a lot of effects from the fucked genes, but Jazz’s resonance with their element is just a little stronger than the average pony.

A few days ago I was able to get my hands on this adorable Leafeon pin from Appleminte on Etsy!

I love the depth the epoxy coat over the soft enamel gives it, especially when paired with the shading printed on top. (The colors are a bit off in this photo btw, it looks exactly as it is on the shop).

Today I have all my weeded-plucked-washed-washed-washed volunteer applemint going in the dehydrator, and the house smells amazing. This will be steeped for tisanes for the rest of the year, probably mixed with chamomile most of the time (maybe some juhua, when that comes in in the autumn).

The MFH makes a lot of fond jokes about having a druid wife, and I laugh at them, but also here I am practically living outdoors, planting extensive amounts of herbs, trying to cozen frogs and snakes to live in my garden...

The previous owner of my house planted applemint in the back yard.

Every year, I go out in early summer and I go to the ten-foot-by-fifteen-foot patch, and I gather gallons and gallons of applemint, some to use immediately in lemonade, the rest to dry and keep for tea all winter long. And then I take a shovel and I dig out every single root I can find. I sift the soil. I plant zinnias in it, or potatoes, or beans, and they grow happily enough despite the disturbance to the soil structure.

And then next year, in early summer, I go out and I gather gallons and gallons of applemint.

So far, my many hours of work have barely managed to keep it inside of that space.

Like. THEY know that the perfect pretty obedient natural-makeup gently-coiffed rural June Cleaver, barefoot-and-pregnant in a sweet little peasant dress, baking fresh bread24-7 housewife doesn't exist.

They KNOW she doesn't exist. They know she CAN'T exist- that nobody can maintain that façade without burning out eventually-

but they also know that the political divide between men and women is deeper than ever in North America, that men as a demographic are getting increasingly angry and conservative and lonely (fuck off terfs and radfems i can sense your bioessentialism coming), and that women aren't legally beholden to them anymore.

This is one of the first generations in North America where women aren't entirely reliant on finding a husband and keeping him happy to survive, to hold a bank account or live apart from their parents, and so what men are dealing with is several hundred years of being told that REAL men have hot fuckable agreeable wives and...a present reality where nobody is lining up to apply for that position.

So what these shills have done- and they ARE shills- is that they've seen that divide, that niche that isn't being filled, that role that's so unpleasant but so desired- and they've constructed a caricature for profit.

Women aren't naturally more gentle, or parental, or submissive. Women aren't naturally, effortlessly smooth and soft and hairless and desiring of simple tasks to fill their time and a big, strong provider to protect them.

But generations of marketing and media have told us it's POSSIBLE, if not for those pesky man-hating feminist libs and their oversensitive woke culture lashing out at Normal Folks for no good reason.

Like- they're selling themselves, the characters they're playing, as an IMAGE, as a FANTASY, and they rely on people BELIEVING in that fantasy to keep the money rolling in.

The people who buy into it sincerely, the women who give up their degrees and careers and financial freedom for this "simple, peaceful life" we ALL desire in some form, away from stress and technology and horrible things on the news... only to get trapped with six children and a partner with all the power who could up and strand them at any moment... they're just collateral.

Like, "Shame it didn't work out for you, have you tried losing weight and trying harder? Maybe some extra Adult Time? He wouldn't have to chase someone younger and prettier if you'd just take care of yourself and put out more."

I on't hate this faux-humble faux-simple wannabe-amish bullshit just because I grew up rural and know it's fucking stupid, hard work and blood and shit and cow piss and placement in the rain kinda crap.

I ALSO hate it because these women are straight-up class traitors, selling off not just their own image as people, but everyone else's, just to make some paper on a grift.

You know Marie Antoinette used to wear sweet little milkmaid-style dresses and play with lambs in the field, just like the poors?

Never mind that she OWNED the land, and the field, and the people, the cute little frocks, and didn't help the sheep birth, or bury the dead premies, or slaughter for meat, or fight off wolves and dogs, ferrets and foxes and rats with a stick in the winter.

It was just fashionable to pretend.

THAT is why I hate that shit, and THAT is why I give a fuck.

♱ lifestyle & living space · jason lives an extremely regimented life. as a child the regime was imposed by his father, the children had strict schedules to follow, chores, school, extra curriculars and church, and into adolescence and adulthood, jason has kept to that. especially when he’s still trying to control his bisexual urges, he very much keeps himself in check by strictly regimenting not just his time, but his surroundings. his daily schedule is outlined to the minute, with very little down time. he’s up by 5:30 for a daily morning run, goes to the gym multiple times a week, volunteers at various organizations, pencils in time for studying, to spend with his girlfriend, to spend time practicing piano and basketball, he schedule’s his prayer time. every aspect of his life is organized and set. this helps him stay on the STRAIGHT and narrow and not to allow himself the ability to stray off of that.

when it comes to his surroundings and even his belongings, he’s a minimalist. anything he doesn’t need, he gets rid of. he keeps a small chest under his bed of sentimental items that he hides away. nothing that would signify his personality is really kept out, around his room. he doesn’t have trinkets, posters, photographs or any such thing that line the walls of his bedroom. it’s almost sterile, for function more than anything. with the exception of his bible on his nightstand and the wall lined with athletic trophies one would hardly know the room was even lived in.

jason is very regimented and this bleeds into all aspects of his life, including cleanliness. he showers at least twice daily ( more if he’s been working out / playing basketball ). he very much is the type of guy to have a little bag of toiletries that he keeps in his jeep at all times so he can brush and floss while he’s out, or refresh on deodorant, etc. literally always has a little tin of mints on him, he’s the guy you ask for gum/mints, because you know he’s always packing. his clothes are always clean, never re-wears an outfit before it’s been washed, his sheets are changed often as well ( mostly because he’s a pervert but that’s a different headcanon post ). as for when he’s around other people, he doesn’t like strong scents, he’ll complain about perfume that’s overbearing, doesn’t like his partners to use a lot of perfume/cologne, will out right tell you if your breath stinks ( but he’ll kiss his partner’s and their stink breath because again, horny ).

Soda: Root beer (not Barq's, which is caffeinated, and A&W is fine but taste kind of salty? I tend to like weird small-brew root beers, guess I'm a hipster). Alcohol: Frozen cosmpolitan from my very favorite bar-restaurant, sadly since burned down, or homemade limoncello (which makes great cocktails, too). If a wine, a Gewürtztraminer or a rosé, I'm a supertaster and just can't handle dry or tannic wines.

Tisane: Mint and chamomile blend. Peppermint if I'm getting it from somewhere else, applemint if I'm growing my own.

How to Embroider Almost Every Animal by Applemints

Sourcebook of 400 motifs and beginner stitch tutorials

 Handy book to have if you are one who would like to add a bit of creativity in animal form to clothing, linens, samplers, handbags, hats, book covers or just about anything you can think of. This book is set up with plenty of little illustrations of completed project animals and then at the back of the book there are two diagrams for each animal. One is the pattern that can be traced, and the second details stitches used, number of strands of embroidery floss needed and colors in the example. At the very end stitches are listed with directions on how to create them.

 This book reminded me of the jeans that my mother embroidered in the early 70s for my sister and I. There were toadstools, animals, birds, flowers and more. This book would lend itself to putting decorative motifs of a different sort on whatever fabric you might consider embellishing.

 I did find the images simple and would have liked the book to include how one could draw their own animal or find an animal in a book and use that to create their own figure and determine what stitches to use for the project.

 Did I enjoy this book? Yes

 Who do I think would enjoy this book? People who have done some sewing as it is never quite as easy to take on projects like this using a book as it is when you have a teacher to observe. If you have some sewing skills this would be easy to use, though.
