Moments Away from Being there With You (3408 words)
Gift for annathecrow! Chapters: 2/2 Fandom: Star Wars - All Media Types Rating: General Audiences Relationships: Arla Fett/Shmi Skywalker Characters: Arla Fett, Shmi Skywalker Additional Tags: Fanart, Digital Art, soft moment, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Arla Fett Needs a Hug, Hurt/Comfort, That's Not How The Force Works (Star Wars), goal was for there to be a fairy tale elements feel for the story, Domestic Fluff, Falling In Love, Recovery Preview:
There’s a song in her head. Something unfamiliar but feels like home. A hand combs through her hair and when Arla looks up she thinks she must be dreaming because this moment can’t be real. No matter how much she wishes it was.
Arla shields her eyes as she looks out at the sandy dunes of Tatooine. It honestly wasn’t her first choice of places to run to but… well it’s better than being dragged back to Deathwatch. She adjusts the strap of her pack, and rechecks that her helmet is still securely clipped to her side.
A part of her wants to slam it back on. Hide her face from everyone and everything. She’ll have to put it on at some point anyway as she makes her way across the dunes but she forces herself to wait. Arla glances back at her guide who’s led her to this point. They do a quick check of their own supplies before looking up at her with a grim smile.
“Are you sure you wish to go further alone?” They ask again as if they think she’ll change her mind. Arla understands the dangers that await her. That there will be no help coming for her if she gets in over her head.
She needs to do this though. To get away from her past, to answer the call that sings to her in her dreams. There’s something out there. Something waiting to be found.
There’s a part of herself that hopes she’ll be finding herself somewhere out there amongst the sands.
“I’m sure Kam’in,” She gives them a confident smile. “You said if I keep going straight I’ll find an Oasis?”
Kam’in shifts uneasily, looking between Arla and the open dunes ahead of her. “Yes, the Spirit’s Oasis.” They give Arla a sympathetic look, “Take care with your water in case she does not let you stay.”
Arla rolls her eyes, “I don’t believe in ghosts.” There’s only one kind of ghost Arla believes in and it’s the ghosts of her past who haunt each step she takes. She can’t bring back those who’ve been lost because of her hesitance. Can’t bring back the one’s she killed with her own hands.
Kam’in shrugs, looking unfazed by her answer, “Then stay the course. Straight ahead and you’ll make it just before nightfall.”
Arla nods, tosses an extra credit chit to them that they easily catch. They give her a nod before they turn and begin the long journey back to their home port. Arla swallows, closes her eyes for a second and lets the heat of the sun beat into her.
She waits under that sweltering heat. Let’s the reality of her situation sink in.
Then she gives in to her earlier feeling as she unhooks her helmet and slides it over her head. Ignoring the cracked blue paint that covers it. She’ll need to sand off all the paint. Erase that part of her one bit at a time until all that’s left is a blank slate.
Until then, Arla Fett, an ex member of Deathwatch walks out into the sands.

Instead of Jango surviving that attack at the Fett farm, it's Arla who gone on a tunnel visioned revenge plan on those who had wronged her and hers.
It has consequences.
She tackles her identity as a mandalorian through many adventures across the galaxy as a bounty hunter, amassing quite the reputation. There's no Jaster Mereel to save her. The infighting in True Mandalorian Faction (Monstross) killed him off and the faction was left without a leader but also a very dead traitor.
Arla kills Palpatine.
Is it a good thing or a bad thing? She doesn't know but she's not sticking around long enough to find out.
...
Qui-gon Jinn dies in Melida/Daan and Jedi master Tahl was too late to save him. She took in his padawan and helped the Young faction brokering peace in their planet through the blood, sweat and tears, they pushed through and the Young finally had an adult they can trust.
They still didn't have back up, no. The Elders ransacked Tahl's ship and it's too risky to sneak out to it anyway but Tahl did her best to be the responsible adult in the middle of a heart breaking war between children and their own parents. She tried her best to shield Obi-wan and the Young but the horrors of war touches everyone.
She did her best. And when the day finally comes for the peace talks, it still went to shit. A young boy named Neild still dies and the Young, grieving and angry, blamed the jedi for his death and chased them off the planet.
Tahl still held onto her new charge. Try to help him even after they get back to the Temple. Try to heal together. Learn together.
Obi-wan was returned to Temple based learning in the meantime while he heals both physically and mentally. He hangs out with his friends. Reconnect with other jedi. Being a child he is meant to be.
Tahl continues to heal.
To work and train so that she can save more people than lose another. She meditates on each of the Young's death. She contacts the Temple Corps to discreetly send help to Melida/Daan. Even if they won't accept their help at first.
'Food is always welcome in that place.' She thought grimly as she remembers the gaunt faces of such young beings that were meant to be cherished but alas the galaxy is a cold hard place.
This strengthens her resolve to bring light to the ever darkening galaxy, even a flicker to those under darkness is a warmth uncompared.
It took quite a while to convince the council to let Tahl accept Kenobi as her padawan but with the state of the young boy they worry for an unhealthy attachment. In the end, they let her.
A woman who chose him and taught him the best that she can. They had a good partnership and slowly they both healed together.
One day they recieved a mission to protect Queen Amidala and in their mission they met a woman who is incredibly bright in the Force.
Her name was Shmi Skywalker and she is a slave.
Their current situation made freeing the woman difficult but Tahl did not give up. Somehow, someway, Tahl managed to get their ship parts and smuggled out a few bands of slaves along with them.
Tahl helped them remove their chips and offered them a ride with them in their newly repaired ship, courtesy of Shmi's handiwork, despite initial disagreements from the young queen's guards. The queen gave her word to help still, as thanks to their assistance also.
'It might be a tight squeeze though.', she apologized.
Not all of them accepted her offer. Some had family in the planet before they were stolen. Some were desperate to leave the place and accepted immediately.
One of them were Shmi Skywalker.
They continued as planned.
Maul arrived the scene, young and brimming with drive to prove hinself to his master only to fall to Jedi Master Tahl's lightsaber.
They continue as planned.
The political situation did not get better. The fought and fought and—
Gunray is still arrested and Palpatine was still elected Chancellor but there is a young woman in Coruscant that shines so bright that it threatens his darkness. Nevertheless. He will continue, unknowing of the force of nature said woman would bring.
Tahl gently brought Shmi and the others to the temple to help them. Jedi Master Shaak Ti was entrusted to assist them as they were slightly more comfortable with her than the other healers.
She felt Shmi's brightness shining through the dark fog of Coruscant and understood why Tahl trusted her with their check up.
But what to do, she is clearly too old to be a jedi. But never too old to recieve help from one or a few.
It is a Jedi's nature to help after all.
After checking their health for anything that needs immediate help, the Togruta talked them through the options they now had and how the Jedi can help them.
Some joined the temple to help with the corps, some accepted their assist of subsidy to travel to a refugee friendly planet that can take them in to start a new life.
Shmi Skywalker was given a choice. It was the first in her life that she was given such a multitude in choices.
She stayed at the temple long enough to heal, she helped around the temple with whatever skills she may offer. They offered her education she did not have the choice to have back when she was a slave.
She accepted.
She healed, she lived, she learned, she rages at the injustice and she— well, she has the freedom to choose now, doesn't she?
Shmi chose to help free other slaves and, with the help of Tahl, Shaak Ti and other jedi both Corpsman and Knights, managed to collect funds and materials to return to Tatooine.
To start a revolution.
It was but a droplet of water in the not so serene lake that is the galaxy yet the ripples form quite a large picture.
They all walk the their paths of Destiny. It changes nothing yet everything. But what is 'nothing' and what is 'everything' in this galaxy where everybody has to live?
Reverse Star Wars AU writing challenge: every time canon fridges a mother, fridge the father instead. Every time a woman dies for the sake of Manpain™️, kill off the dude instead.
(I know this gets particularly complicated with Obi-Wan, because his woman-who-died-in-my-arms count is in the double digits at this point, but I have faith fandom can find a way.)
The only rule is that the story cannot be about a man. It cannot be about man angst. It has to center the women.

(ONE SHOT) ner aliit STAR WARS
(belated) Whumptober no.29 - I Think I Need A Doctor
Comfortember no.8 - Lashing Out
Jango had never imagined getting his sister back. He had thought, for over a decade, that his ori’vod was dead, that she had died all those years ago with their buire when Kyr’tsad had burned their family’s farm. He had spent years with Arla’s name at the top of his Remembrances, unknowing that she was alive and that Kyr’tsad had her in their grasp. He had left his ori’vod to be tortured and twisted until she was a chained pet to be released whenever Vizsla wanted someone dead.
Vizsla had probably taken some sort of sick enjoyment out of sending his own sister after him, most likely looking to get the Darksaber back but was not willing to face Jango or his Foundling in combat himself. So he had sent Jango’s own family to kill them and bring the dha’kad to him instead of doing anything himself, and Arla had tried. They had been docked and resupplying, and she must have snuck on board while they had been busy - likely the blood she shared with Jango had let her slip past the security.
Manda, Jango had nearly killed her. He hadn’t known it at the time, all he had seen was a Kyr’tsad ramikad pinning Ben and ready to slit his throat, and Jango had thrown himself forward to defend his son. It had been Ben - Ben who had never let go of the morals he had been raised with, despite declaring his quest for cin vhetin upon earning his beskar’gam and passing his verd’goten - who had stopped Jango from killing his attacker. It was Ben, the boy who refused to kill unless absolutely necessary, even with all the evils in the Galaxy and everything he had been through, who had pulled Jango off of the limp Kyr’tsadii and removed the woman’s helmet.
Jango had nearly lost what little remained of his cool in that moment, stiffening in shock and horror. Arla was almost identical to their mother, though Jango could see himself in her jaw and nose and the shape of her eyes, and her colouring had been their father’s. He remembers that, as a teenager, Arla had idolized their retired ori’ramikad mother, and had wanted to be just like her, to the point she had dyed her brown hair blonde and spent an hour every morning straightening her curls. When he had been eight he had found it annoying to be locked out of the bathroom while his di’kutla ori’vod did di’kutla things, but after the farm had burned, he had guarded even the most annoying memories of his family jealousy. Now though, there’s not a hint of blonde in Arla’s thick curls, and where her skin had once been golden-brown, it was now pale and ashen and covered in scars from torture and cruelty that he had gotten a peek of while Shmi had been tending to her injuries.
Jango had been able to experience love and family after their Buire had been murdered, but Arla had only known pain and torment.
He had spent the last few days sitting beside his sister’s bacta tank, watching her float limply in the thick liquid and reacquainting himself with her face. It had made him painfully aware of the fact that he couldn’t remember her voice, that he could barely remember her. She’s in her thirties now, and she was so very different from the fourteen year old girl preparing for her verd’goten that he could remember. All the baby fat was gone from her face, and there’s a scar across the bridge of her nose that Jango couldn’t remember being there - so many thick, ropey scars stretched across any part of her body that he could see. He hadn’t seen her since he was eight - he’s twenty-three now, and he likes to think that he looks like his father, but finding Arla has made him painfully aware of the fact that he can barely remember them anymore.
What kind of ad and vod is he that he can’t remember his familys’ faces? Would Arla hate him for moving on, for finding a new aliit while she had been tortured?
Arla had been pulled out of bacta just that morning, and it had been painful for Jango to cuff his sister to the medical cot, but he didn’t really have much of a choice. He has two non-combatants on the ship, and a son that Arla had already once tried to kill. As much as Jango hates it, his sister is a prisoner and an assassin, and he has no idea what Death Watch had done to her over the years, or what kind of state her mind is in.
Even so, knowing all of that didn’t mean it hadn’t torn something in him when his sister had immediately tried to throw herself at him, intent to harm, the moment she had opened her eyes. Arla had snarled, twisting against the restraints, teeth bared in fury, and a firm Shmi had ordered Jango out of the room as she’d given his sister a sedative. So Jango had left, trusting Shmi to look after herself and Arla.
“Traitor!” Arla had screamed at him, and the words had struck deep.
He finds himself feeling lost, staring at the wall, and wondering what he could possibly do to fix this. He hadn’t thought his hatred of Kyr’tsad could grow any hotter and yet here he is, with a sister he had believed dead for most of his life, twisted and broken and turned into an assassin for the very people who had murdered their Buire and who he hated more than anything, even the Jetiise. Kyr’tsad had taken everything from him; his parents, his Buir, his aliit, his sister, his honour. He could reach out to the others; he knows that there are Haat’ade still out there, people who had followed Jaster, who had followed Jango, and people who would come the moment he called. Roz had given him a list of contacts of Mando’ade who were still loyal to the Mand’alor. There were people with the right sort of training who could help him help Arla. He hadn’t considered calling them before - he’s unworthy of their loyalty, but for his aliit , he’d be willing to do anything.
Jango lets out a heavy breath, turning on his heel to march towards his room - Jaster’s old room - in search of the comm codes, thoughts dark. His people didn’t deserve Jango dragging them back into his problems, but Arla also doesn’t deserve what happened to her and needs help. He doesn’t trust a hospital to protect her from Kyr’tsad should they come for her, but he does trust the True Mandalorians.
The disgraced Mand’alor pauses in front of his door, tightening his hand around his buy’ce and tapping his fingers against the visor. He sighs slowly, closing his eyes and muttering a quick prayer to the Manda for courage and to the Ka’ra for luck, before gathering himself and typing in the code to the door and stepping into his room. He strides over to the storage chest at the base of his bunk, opening it to rifle through the belongings until he finds the datapad Roz had handed him back when he and Ben had first gone to her for work after escaping the spice freighter.
He staring at one name on the list, an open expression of pain on his face - there’s so few of them, compared to what they had once been, and that’s on him. Mij Gilamar - he remembers the man. Or more accurately he remembers his riduur; Tani Gilamar had been on Galidraan, she had been one of his ramikade. Mij had been a dedicated baar’ur, and while he had married a Mando’ad, he had never worn beskar’gam, preferring to heal rather than fight, but Jango had seen him spar with Tani enough to know that he could.
Mij would be his best choice to help Arla, but would he want to do anything for Jango after he had gotten his riduur killed.
He looks up when the door hisses open, letting Ben peer into his room. His son cut an impressive figure in Jango’s old beskar’gam, the one that he wore after passing his own verdgotten but painted dark red and white, and his buy’ce tucked under his arm - he looks like a true Mando’ad, and Jango wonders if this is what Jaster felt every time he saw him in his armour. He watches Jango with worried eyes.
“Are you alright, Buir?” The teenager asks, stepping into Jango’s room and letting the door slide shut behind him. “Shmi told me our guest woke up.” Blue eyes study him intently, and Jango’s shoulders slump at the reminder, Arla’s words rattling in his head. “I can sense that you’re upset.” Ben lowers himself to his knees next to him with the unnatural grace of a Jedi, head tilting. Do you want to talk about it?”
Jango huffs out a laugh, “You do know I’m supposed to be the buir, right, Ben’ika?”
His ad ’s eyes sparkle, and Jango can already feel the weight of his past easing with the boy’s small smile. “So you are.” Ben says cheerfully, “I’m afraid I hadn’t noticed.”
“Brat.” Jango murmurs fondly, flicking the fourteen year old across the forehead. Still, Ben had passed his verd’goten and was considered an adult by Old Mandalorian law, even if he is still young and inexperienced and still needed guidance. Jas’buir had allowed Jango to lead his own squad at fourteen, and Mandalorians knew better than anyone that ade were just as competent as those who were fully grown. He sighs again, “Arla needs special care right now.” Jango tells Ben, who listens attentively. “Things we can’t get her without help.”
Ben’s head tilts again, eyes narrowing thoughtfully, “Like a mind healer?”
Jango taps Mij’s name on the list, “Baar’ur Gilamar is a doctor, and a very good one. All Mandalorian doctors are trained in mirjahaal for wounded verde.”
“One cannot heal physically if they don’t also heal spiritually.” Ben states knowingly, and Jango ruffles his hair.
“Learn that from your fancy Core Temple, did you, ad’ika?”
Ben grins crookedly, “We were all expected to attend minor healing classes.” He shrugs, “I wasn’t very good at it.” Then his blue eyes grow sharp in the way that makes Jango feel like the boy was looking into his soul. “Arla will be fine, Buir.” Ben states, “We’ll help her; she’s aliit.”
Aliit, it’s a nice thought.

Two husbands and a wife @padawansuggest Dooku, Jocasta, and Sifo-Dyas. The kids are their Padawans, future Padawans, and grand Padawans.
He gets another kid years later when Arla comes back with Shmi.
Jaster Mereel, holorecording: Greetings, Exalted One. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Jaster Mereel, Mand'alor and humble student of history. I know that you are powerful, mighty Master Nu, and that your anger with my people must be equally powerful. I seek an audience with Your Greatness to bargain for entrance into your Jedi Archives. With your wisdom, I'm sure that we can work out an arrangement which will be mutually beneficial and enable us to avoid any unpleasant confrontation. As a token of my goodwill, I present to you a gift: these two historical jetii'kade from my own Keldabe Archives, along with their provenances. Both are in working condition and will serve you well. Jocasta Nu: oh neat, free grad student!

For Day 4 of @jangobiweek, Forced to Work Together. Have an ancient Sith wrecking Palpatine’s plans by invading and Mando’ade collectively going “kriff those Sith in particular” and fighting back.  Also fighting with Jedi.  Because Jedi vs Sith is, like, obvious.  Also, also, call back to my own fic Bring You Golden Rings (Only Want Your Hand To Hold) for some good good Courtship shenanigans (i.e. references to what I did for courtships in that)
Obi-Wan swung his lightsaber, reflecting back a blaster shot just as another skimmed just below the arc of his lightsaber towards their enemies.
He threw the Force forward to push back a number of the enemy as his companion turned on his jetpack and flew up to rain literal fire down on their enemies.
Obi-Wan sank deeper into the Force, his Battle Meditation guiding him.  A distant part of him mused that the Bond between him and his companion negating the principals of beskar that aided in Mando’ade being such formidable foes to Force Sensitives was interesting and he wondered if Tarre Vizsla had looked into it in his time.
The rest of him jumped after his Mando’ad, Jango catching him and swinging him around and down into a new patch of Eternal Empire soldiers.  Jango landing shortly after, Obi-Wan having covered him.
The two of them were making quick work towards one of the Sith that was leading this group.  As it were, they were farther along than any of the others: soldiers, Mando’ade, Jedi, combined pairs and groups.
Jango’s vicious focus did not distract Obi-Wan, just as the cool logic Obi-Wan slipped into did not hinder Jango.
They fit together, two pieces of a puzzle, and rose to even higher heights as warriors.
And they were able to take down more of the Eternal Empire that had invaded than most others, only a few other pairs or groups able to keep up.
Later, when the Empire had been rousted from the planet, Obi-Wan fell from his Battle Meditation and Jango caught him as he stumbled.
“Di’kut Jetii,” Jango grumbled.
“Mhm, it keeps us going longer,” Obi-Wan replied.
He didn’t have to see Jango’s face to know the deadpan look the other was giving him.
“If everyone else would just-”
“Jango,” Obi-Wan sighed.
“If you and I can do it, I don’t see why no one else can.”
Anakin giggled from the tent where he was helping Shmi and Bant with the injured.
Obi-Wan was happy that the Council had agreed to retrieve as many of those who his Padawan had known back on Tatooin when the Empire first invaded.  With the death of the Chancellor so soon after Qui-Gon, it was good that Anakin didn’t have to worry about his mother dying during this war.  To lose another parental figure would be devastating for the boy.
“Can you at least wear some kriffing armor?” Jango complained, “if no one else is going to step up, then let me not have to worry that my partner is going to fall to a stray shot.”
Obi-Wan opened his mouth to deny the need again when Bo-Katan spoke up from where one of the medics was wrapping her hand.
“Didn’t my sister give you beskar’gam when you and she were running around?”
Jango, his buy’ce having been pulled off by Shmi as the woman examined the two of them (no longer trusting them to speak up of injuries after that one time), glared at Bo-Katan.  Something more than his usual distaste for Kyr’stad in general and Bo-Katan in particular in his gaze.
Arla, who was rebuilding her relationship with Jango still, snorted from where Bant was wrapping her head.
“I bet it’s not sized right; they’d need an Armorer.  Jang’ika, just give him a secondary weapon to his jetii’kad,” she paused, almost tilting her head but stopping the movement at a Look from Bant, “maybe start with a dagger.  That way he can throw it like he drops cloaks.”
Bo-Katan snarled at her.
Obi-Wan raised his eyebrows as Shmi turned her attention on him.
“Is this another one of those things those two are competing about?” he asked Jango, his voice low.
Anakin giggled again at his Master.
Jango felt his face heat, unsure how to explain that the two were fighting over which of their siblings was a better match for Obi-Wan.
Though… Arla had a better point about Jango and Obi-Wan complementing each over and covering each other’s weaknesses.  In his opinion.
Obi-Wan’s gaze stayed on him for a moment longer before he hummed and leaned more heavily on Jango.
Jango wished he could help Obi-Wan more during battle, but the fight when the Sith were there was always two-fold.  The physical that Obi-Wan and he worked like they were two parts of a whole together; and a Force battle that Obi-Wan had to fight without aid from Jango.
But he could be there for him after, guard his back even when they slept.  As he had since Obi-Wan had invited him to share his quarters.
“How long have you been doing this An’ika?” Jango asked the Padawan, needing a distraction.
Anakin pouted, “not that long.”
“He’s about due to go rest. Do his meditation,” Shmi told him.
Jango nodded and leveled a Look he hoped was as effective as what Jas’buir had used on him had been.
Anakin sighed and gave his mother a betrayed look.  Then he turned tooka eyes onto Obi-Wan, hoping his Master would let him stay and keep helping.
“If you get through it with no distractions, maybe Jango and I will show you a few things,” Obi-Wan told him.
Anakin’s eyes widened and he all but skipped off to meditate.
“Do you truly think you are in any position to show him how to fight?” Shmi raised one doubting eyebrow at Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan grinned, “if we word it right, we can get him started on something on slow speed.”
And then he looked back at Jango, “and maybe we’ll tire him out enough that he’ll actually sleep in.”
Jango had a moment where he could imagine it.  The two of them awake and enjoying the peace of the morning before Whirlwind Anakin awoke. Sharing warm drinks, maybe some flatcakes.
(maybe he’d find the words he never could, the words that Jaster would have known with how the man had been a poet and historian alongside being a warrior.  Jango wasn’t good with words, and he was sure that his little metal workings didn’t say what he meant correctly to Obi-Wan)
One of the other soldiers, one from Melida/Daan with dark brown hair, cackled.
Obi-Wan sent a pebble at him with a hissed “Nield!”
Jango had no idea what that was about.

Mandalorian Skywalkers is something I didn’t know I needed but now I’m begging for more. How does Jango find out? What does he do? Free Shmi? Abduct his nephew and his master? Look I’m in need of a 40 chapter fic here that little drabble was so good and I have so many questions!
Aaah thank you! I’m happy to hear you like this AU so much! Don’t know if you’ve seen it but I posted a bit about Shmi’s childhood on AO3! And, well, if I had the patience to start yet another multichapter fanfic, mayyyybe. For now, these will stay One shots. But concerning future plot:
I’ve decided that 14-year-old Anakin & Obi-Wan run into Jango while on a mission
Well, actually, it’s more that they are both in the area. Jango on a job (& to take Boba away from Kamino for a while), the disaster duo there to help out with negotiating peace talks between two groups before the conflict escalates. And as The Force Will Have It, an attack takes place and they get separated.
Jango absolutely does not panic when he loses sight of Boba, he was Mand’alor, he doesn’t stress and having a bastard Jedi in vicinity absolutely doesn’t further aggravate his nerves. Definitely.
Obi-Wan is calm.... enough. He trusts Anakin, his Padawan got this and knows what to do on his own. (He is, however, annoyed that all their missions turn out like this. It was bad enough that his apprenticeship was basically one active combat mission after another, he’s been trying to do better by Anakin. Padawans aren’t supposed to deal with so much active combat before they’re fifteen)
Boba kinda does panic. He’s four and he knows he’s supposed to get back to his ship if he’s ever separated from his father. And he knows he’s not supposed to talk or trust strangers, but well, there’s nothing much you can do when a teenager grabs you to pull you away from the fighting.
Anakin is stressed and sees a kid in danger so he helps him. Kid has a super weird reaction to seeing his lightsaber, but it’s not like Anakin could just leave him there! And Anakin’s language kind of gets away from him when he’s not focusing. Basic is his fourth-ish language okay, and cursing in Mando’a just feels more appropriate. And suddenly the kid stops fidgeting and in rapid-fire Mando’a, all wide-eyed, he asks Anakin how he knew those curses cause his buir told him to never ever say words like that
So Anakin is kind of stunned because sure, he speaks Mando’a and holds conversations in it with Obi-Wan (thought Obi-Wan’s accent is weird. All posh. Anakin’s is decidedly not) but he didn’t expect the kid to know it on some jungle Midrim Planet. But Anakin is an opportunist, so he keeps talking to the kid to calm him down.
Meanwhile Jango and Obi-Wan have taken care of the attackers so things are calming down again. So that’s how the two find Anakin and Boba, sitting in an alley, Anakin distracting Boba with stories of his adventures with Obi-Wan. Jango side-eyes the whole thing so much because what the fuck is this Jedi doing
Anakin spots the two returning. Boba happily runs off to his father and Anakin would like to say he doesn’t fanboy but! Look! That’s real beskar’gam!!!! And Anakin really hasn’t had much opportunity to interact with one half of his heritage (not entirely sure whether I should toss Satine in here yet, and even if I did, I feel like her politics wouldn’t necessarily agree with what Anakin had been taught by his mom) and this guy is obviously one of the Good Ones so he starts rambling
Jango just wants to grab his son and get away from these weird Jedi before they cause trouble but also wait did that kid just say he’s Mandalorian what-
And the thing is. Anakin vaguely knows about his extended family. He knows his mother had siblings and he knew their names. Obi-Wan, seeing that just telling Anakin to forget about it wouldn’t solve his attachments and fears, so he had tried to help him research it but it’s not like hearing your Padawan mention random names will really help figure out his heritage in such a big galaxy if there is nobody searching from the other side.
So here comes Padawan Anakin Skywalker going on about how his last name is actually Fett and his mom’s name is Shmi and continues on and on-
And Jango remembers asking his parents who the other girl standing next to Arla in the holos was. Even if he had been a baby when Shmi was abducted, he knew about his older sister. He was told about her. Time to play connect the dots.
Fast forward by three hours to Obi-Wan calling the council because the mission went sideways, his Padawan found his uncle - who is Jango Fett, yes, that Jango Feet - and cousin and said uncle proceeded to take his Padawan and run away to find his sister and oh I wonder how we could have avoided that if you had just allowed me to free his mother how about that?
So, no. Obi-Wan won’t be returning to the temple, he’s got a Padawan to track down.
Jango, Boba and Anakin are on their to Tatooine to free Shmi, who is actually a little busy on the other side of the galaxy, trying to track down her past because she freed herself.
This got long and it’s only bullet points. Oh well!

I just damn well know that Mama Kenobi is gonna be lookin over Jango’s shoulder as he cries his way though a holocall with a very worried Jaster and Arla and after a minute of Jango not getting his point across (Obi is still searching for more pics in the album and Mama dragged Jango off saying she’s got this one) Mama just steps up all ‘your son needs a hug, I expect you both on this planet in the next 24 hours, thank you’ and hangs up on them. Lmaoooo.
They make it there in about 8. Obi had to send a bunch of messages to Jaster saying ‘Jango’s fine he’s just emotional and needs you both, it’s happy emotions not sad one’s, Mama wrapped him in a blanket roll and set a toddler on him he’s calming down’ and then Jaster gets there and refuses to stop hugging Jango for an hour.
Also instead of it just being a regular reunion, Obi-Wan calls the temple and suggests his crechemates come over (‘no I don’t care that you’re busy, be here or get your ass beat’ ‘omfg ur so pushy’ ‘that’s what Jango says. In bed.’ ‘I don’t believe you about that ur a sub’ ‘stfu’) and they drag others along (Ani and Aayla are making besties for life with the dozens of cousins and people) and then-
They announce that Obi-Wan and Jango are now going to get married at the end of the week in both Mandalorian and Stewjoni fashion in a dual ceremony. Also the Jedi fashion technically because the Mandos and Stewjoni fam suddenly desperately want to see how Jedi ceremonies work as well.
Imagine the gossip in town tho. Mama Kenobi comes into the bakery asking for enough cakes (she’s not daft enough to make one giant cake, that’s putting all your eggs in one basket, and also this way you can get one of every flavor) for the whole clan plus about 20 Mandos and 20 Jedi (yes she did ask if they can make a spicy cake and a tea cake but that’s half a joke that amuses her and she’s about to be horrified at how much Obi and Jango love those ones) and the baker is all ‘I’ll give you a massive discount if I can come too, I NEED to see a Jedi wedding plz’ and Papa Kenobi stops into the tailors shop with Obi on his heels like ‘I need another wedding suit, this time for my youngest, but also he refuses to wear a suit so I need you to design something that looks like wedding clothes but also like a Jedi would wear them’ and the tailor also demands an invite (half the town will be there okay they’re gonna demand it be a pot luck and every family gotta bring something cause this is gonna be Too Much) and goes 👁️👄👁️ at Obi the whole time. This is a Jedi knight??? This is a baby! They let him have a baby????? Where is the baby he needs to make Ani a wedding outfit too!!!!
Anyways. I genuinely love the little things like this in fics I might make this a short (maybe 20-30k max) fic just for the purpose of Jango being a crybaby, Jaster being protective, a Mando/Stewjoni/Jedi wedding, Master Yoda is there passing out swamp cookies with Dooku following behind at a padawan’s position with the entire purpose of telling people not to eat the orange ones. It will send you into another dimension. Shmi is flirting with Obi’s brother Cliegg. They will be the next wedding for sure.
Anyways. I love writing the little things. Ani and Aayla are causing chaos by teaching their cousins how to steal cookies and cause chaos. Also someone brought Grogu and he’s leading a rebellion.
Since I am obsessed with the red string of fate theory-
AU where Obi-Wan and Jango are dating. One day, since Obi-Wan was recently knighted, the council suggests he visits his birth family since he’s only had small contact with them since he was little, and it’s a practice they try to encourage.
Obviously Obi-Wan is all ‘oh great. A family reunion with all 7 of my siblings and 23 cousins and like seven aunts and uncles, this is gonna be great. At least they have sheep for me to cuddle’ and decides to go for it.
But since it’s gonna be chaos incarnate anyways. Let’s ask Jango if he wants to come with. It’s okay, because Stewjon is on the edge of Mando space so they’ll probably like his bf anyways.
Jango and Obi-Wan show up, they have a chaotic time with all the families, and Jango even thinks he should invite them all to Keldabe or maybe bring Jaster to meet them next time. Might as well become in laws. Obi-Wan, on the other hand, brought Shmi (who is flirting with one of his brothers lmaooo) and Anakin (who is being DOTED on by the fam) and so it’s all a big family now.
Anyways. One of those days Obi-Wan is pulled down to look through photo albums because that’s what families do.
And Obi-Wan stops on a photo that was taken a few months before he was sent to the Jedi temple. It’s a photo of a village fair they had that year, and he’s playing with some siblings while Mama and Daddy cook on the BBQ…
And in the background. Is a Mandalorian in full armor with an ad wearing their leathers. They look about nine or so.
Obi-Wan sees the pic and just fucking breaks down crying, because he hadn’t realized Jango was so cute as a kiddo, and that’s def Jaster Mereel, who hasn’t painted his armor a new colour in over twenty years, giving Jango an ice cream cone and looking so doting and loving on that ad it’s breaking all their hearts.
Anyways. They have copies made and hang it up everywhere they live and Jaster adores the picture. It’s sweet, and his boys look so happy.

Stupid Tumblr didn't post the first time and I lost my thoughts.
Tumblr media
You're welcome @cosmic-j0ke.
Chaos galore! Especially when Anakin joins in and then Tim. You know Tim will want to know everything about R2 and C-3PO. Rex and the 501st run when Ahsoka joins in. Actually they start running when Tim does. The 212th hate them, especially Cody, because Obi-Wan either joins in or disappears to the Temple.
If Tim doesn't join them in chaos, Mace can usually stop the group. If Tim does join them, it means his siblings are going to come soon and Alfred is called.
Next is Shmi then Ma, and Pa Kent are the last resort. If Alfred, who is revered by everyone from the Jedi to the Mandalorians, and Shmi, who is also revered, especially for the way she deals with Anakin and the others, can't get them to stop, Ma and Pa can and will.
Yes, Shmi is there. So is Jaster and Arla and even Jango and Boba and the Children of the Watch. They all showed up.
Cal, who wants to marry Tim, he does not care that he is to young, 13/14 to Tim's 17/18, get the Iron Battalion to shut Ra's down. Ahsoka gets the 212th and 501st to help because she adores Damian. Jason has the Wolfpack on his heels, Steph is loved by Bacara (that doesn't look correct) and his men, Cass by Ponds and Neyo, Dick, to everyone's surprise, Master Che and Kix (which makes it easier to help reel in Damian), Barbara is Gree's, Duke, when he joins the family becomes Grey's, and the Alphas claim Bruce.
The rest of the batclan and heroes get devided between the Vode, Jedi, and Mandalorians.
The safest cities though are still Gotham and Bludhaven because, even with some of the Mandalorians and some Vode becoming Bounty Hunters, they are still the home bases.
I think I remembered everything... hopefully.
Finally putting this up. Had it in my head since 6/19.
Str Wars/Gotham:
If Fox was placed into the DC universe, specifically Gotham do you think he have it cleaned up within a month?
If all the Vode/Clones were placed in Gotham, along with the Jedi, do you think Gotham would be the cleanest and safest city in the world? Heck, would Bludhaven also be safe?
I got the start of a story in my head where the Vode and Jedi were dumped into Gotham. Fox is givens command of the GPD, Rex, who takes Cody with him, in charge of Arkham, Wolffe in charge of Blackgate.
The Jedi help out on the streets, the hospitals and etc. Ahsoka is the only Padawan under 18 allowed in the prisons and that’s because the Vode know that she sneak into them without permission. At least this way it’s with Anakin and Obi-Wan along or Plo, she is not allowed with her lineage or another adult Jedi. The Vode don’t count in this instance.
The younglings, cadets, and younger Padawans are only allowed out on the streets during the day before the Guard and GAR clean them up. Afterwords they are allowed out at night but have a curfew.
Jim Gordon is still the commissioner but he works closely with Fox. The Waynes by the way are away for a month, ‘on a holiday’. They’re actually helping stop an invasion. The invasion is the Sith who are actually beat by the heroes easily, Palpatine didn’t think that he be beaten. Especially by ones that don’t have the force.
