I had a galaxy brain moment the other day while thinking about a situation where the Decepticons arrived on Earth long before the Autobots, and humans were not doing so hot trying to fight them. Rather post-Apocalypse sort of scenario.
I realized that if you want some idea of how human vs. mech strategies could work, you can look at the combat mechanics of one of my favorite video games, Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West.
You use modified arrows to take down giant robots that are armed with rocket launchers, lasers, flamethrowers, guns, sonic capabilities, cloaking technology.
There's a robot T-Rex called a Thunderjaw.
•Shoot attached weapons off of their body, pick them up, and turn them on your enemy.
•Prodigious use of explosive tripwires. Be stealthy. Do a lot of damage upfront and disorient/disable them, and the rest is a lot easier. •Learn their weak points and exploit them. Practice hitting those weak spots. Learn to take an educated guess at identifying possible weak spots even across different frame types.
•Extreme cold (freezing their joints/internal fluids) and extreme heat (overheating part of their system) are both options if you can figure out where and how to apply them.
•Learn their patterns of behavior and exploit them.
•You're small and can hide behind, under, and in a lot of places. Make good use of your environment. Don't be scared to cut and run. You can fight another day. •When in doubt, run under their legs. They're big and heavy. It'll take time for them to turn around. It'll buy you a few seconds.
•Even if you can't KEEP them down, using steel-reinforced ropes to temporarily restrict their movement by anchoring them to the ground or decently heavy objects can let you get some damage in.
•Let your natural surroundings be your friend. Trick them into going off a cliff, getting caught in a rockfall, trap them in mud.
•Use height to your advantage. They won’t be looking up at surrounding buildings for tiny humans moving around.
The goated option is of course:
•Make friends with other robots and get them to fight for you

There are some mechs that have a broad range of capabilities and appeal, and then there's mechs like the Legionnaire. Originally convieved of by Corean enterprises as a bigger version of the Centurion, the design eventually morphed into something far different from the original medium speed, medium weight trooper mech. The Legionnaire is a one-gun medium cav mech- it rocks a 350 xl engine, targetting computer, and one giant fuckoff gun- usually a rotary autocannon. Sometimes it has a couple medium lasers, sometimes it loses the targetting computer to pack an Arrow launcher to be freakishly mobile artillery, but overwhelmingly it's a fast mech with a big gun and if you don't like it then the door's right there.

The mech's IRL history rings similar chords to it's fiction as a specialized and somewhat contentious design. The Legionnaire is a Mechwarrior: Dark Age design that really wears that influence on it's sleave. It's industrial, but in a sort of early 2000s Rob Liefeld way with lots of point, exposed munitions and big autocannons. Unlike a lot of MWDA mechs, the One Big Gun appearance of the Legionnaire saved it from a lot of the most terminal AC-itis that some of its fellows suffer from, slotting in next to the Blitzkrieg as a Davion alternative to Steiner's third and increasingly deranged attempt to salvage what they could from the Hollander project. I like the thing, but in a sort of olives and sharp bleu cheese way- it's an acquired taste and something I'm not always in the mood for, the appear of the machine isn't really too demented to be invisible to most mechwarriors.

tip tuesday: the flyfish (and how to krill them!)
an overview on the flyfish:
the flyfish is one of, if not, the most hated boss salmonids in the salmon run salmonpedia. this flying smallfry shoots out a total of eight tentamissiles across the map. their armor is impervious to ink and so, must be taken out by the use of bombs chucked into their missile launchers.
method one: the casual (bombs)
the usual method is to obviously chuck bombs at the launchers. be careful as to not get too close or too far away, and get to a high inkable area as to avoid the hordes of salmon by the shoreline. throw your first bomb into the right launcher first, as that launcher directs the person in front of it (or the person closest to it.) refuel and launch the other bomb at the remaining launcher. it can be soloed in one go, but it's better to do it with teammates.
method two: weaponry
certain weapons can help with taking out flyfish faster:
explosher: acts the same as bombs. fire the explosher at the launchers to instantly take them out. repeat the same steps of preparation as the first method for the best results.
grizzco splatana: charge up your weapon to cut through any type of surface. you have to aim upwards and move forward towards the flyfish in order to reach the salmonid inside. you need to fend off salmon and also avoid the sludge water, as the splatana isn't easy to stop.
grizzco slosher: the slosher can penetrate any surface with its slosh. fire at the pilot once to krill the flyfish, but save the other three for salmon population control.
method three: specials
the specials are efficient in krilling most bosses, however they are limited to two a round (excluding the one refill in the xtra rounds) and some don't penetrate the forces.
the specials that can krill flyfish: inkjet, crabtank (both need to be used as explosher), triple inkstrike, kraken (to an extent), triple splashdown(?), killer wail 5.1, booyah bomb
the specials that dont: wave breaker, reefslider
method four: cohock sweep*
cohock rounds are by far the easiest way to take out any type of salmonid, but be careful. you can't dodge missiles while within the cannon. if you aim in the middle of the launchers, you can take out both of them at the same time with one shot. if not, then just aim for one at a time. if you get targeted, run away from the launcher and maybe get some eggs in before going back and manning the launcher.
method five: salmonid treason
flyfish can be killed with other salmonids, although its very rare to do so. one method is to make a slamming lid crash on top of the flyfish by either baiting the slamming lid or splatting the slamming lid. another method is to use good ol' joe and make him eat the flyfish by baiting him near the flyfish. however, you also need to lure the slamming lid close to the flyfish and not get splat by the jets of the flyfish or any other salmonid.
extra tips:
to find a flyfish in the fog, follow where the arrows come from when you're targeted. if you're not targeted, follow the opposite of where the missiles launch are coming from.
to avoid flyfish missiles, hide under grates and other objects. if you can't find a place to hide, swim and dodge the missiles.
each missile reload takes five to seven seconds, depending on if they need to relocate the machine or not to get away from you. mostly they just hover in one place.
with multiple flyfish on the loose, it is recommended to use a killer wail 5.1 special to get rid of all the missiles. you need to get to at least the third round in order to not lose any points.

Thoughts and Predictions about the Mangkwan Clan.
With Avatar: Fire and Ash coming out in December and not having any trailer's yet I wanted to share some of my thoughts and predictions surrounding the new Mangkwan Clan, or Ash People.
This is probably my favorite part of concept art from D3. It's terrifying, the fiery background and the hooded figures surrounding Varang. Varang herself wearing a manic smile and a necklace of kuru is so unsettling.
The necklace of kuru is so interesting to me. Kuru (or neural queue) are incredibly important in Na'vi society. It is a way to connect to the world around them and to their ancestors.
In the original script there is a scene where Lyle Wainfleet finds an injured Tsu'tey on the forest floor. Picking Tsu'tey up by the queue he cuts it off and it's brutal.
Now, this is only concept art and the neural queue necklace might now actually be in the final film. But I still wonder how Varang got them. The worst possibility is that she cut them off her opponents in battle, or something along those lines. The less horrible thing I can think of is that the queue are cut off from the deceased so their spirits won't connect to Eywa.
New creature! After ATWOW introduced so many new animals it'll be interesting to see what direction they will be taken.
According to the Wiki these things are called 'Nightwraith' and are a flying mount, much like an Ikran.
If you look you can see the Varang does have her queue connected to her mount. She is bonded with it, but I wonder if it is to the degree of an Ikran and it's rider.
Something I just noticed is that the background characters are weilding very obviously human weapons, not the typically bows and arrows. Pretty sure one has a rocket launcher?
This wouldn't be the first time we see Na'vi using human weapons. Characters like Jake do it all the time. But with the Mangkwan's lore I wonder how this will be portrayed.
Once again we can see the Mangkwan Na'vi with human weapons here. One of the three rules of Eywa is not using metal. With the Mangkwan being a Clan that has renounced Eywa it makes sense, but I wonder how they got these weapons.
I also noticed that the Mangkwan Na'vi have queue's, like Varang.
The most obvious thing it Quaritch. He's being escorted by Mangkwan warriors, seemingly to Varang.
I've seen people theorize that they will team up, possibly romantically, as a parralel to Jake and Neytiri.
The arcithecture of the Mangkwan is also interesting, lots of sharp points and red accents we haven't really seen before. The camp also seems to be beneath a Hometree-like structure. Possibly this same tree from this other piece of concept art.
The wiki mentions that that the Mangkwan used to be very similar to the Omatikaya, but their way of life was destroyed by a volcano that wiped out their village and destroyed their Hometree. This has left the Mangkwan survivors resentful and angry towards Eywa.
Something I'm very excited for is to see Neytiri interact with the Mangkwan and Varang. Neytiri is a very emotional character and we see her fly into a blind rage after Neteyam's death. I want her to reflect, to see herself in the Mangkwan and be horrified. Or maybe she'll empathize with them, defend their actions, join them even.

Ngl this looks like it could be a cover for an animatic. Ignore that I forgot Varian's goggles. Villian au!! Dw their in love they do this like three times a day
More lore yap
I haven't rlly got a set outfit for varian but I think he would take inspo from his dad since in this au he died from the amber. Also Quirin didn't exactly die IN the amber. Yes he was DYING but he wasn't fully dead until Raps melted the amber and the liquid burnt through his skin, bones and organs. Whilst it's very unlikely Quirin could have survived the amber.
I like to think Varian is stronger than Hugo in this au but just barely. The two have a pretty big difference in weaponry.
Varian:
Swords, daggers, rocket launchers, snipers, brass knuckles, stronger alchemy bombs, war hammers, crossbow, bow and arrow if he can't find his crossbow, rifles, flame thrower, that scepter alchemy stick thing he has. Pretty much whatever he can get his hands on.
He usually keeps the smaller things on him but will bring out bigger weapons in a fight if he needs to (or just for fun). Of course if they had a war he's got bigger weapons for that like cannon balls, harpoons, ect.
Hugo
Swords, alchemy bombs, regular bombs, pistols, rifles, snipers, revolvers, pretty much any type of firearm, daggers, knives, spear.
Hugo usually does security and what not so his weapons tend to be more practical and not.. crazy? Meanwhile if Varian's fighting he wants to have fun. Varian Usually builds most weapons but there are things that Hugos better at building (bombs, guns, that kinda stuff. Anything small. Var is better with big weapons but u bet he's gonna add a twist and make them cooler.)
I think that's it? Anyways as I was drawing this I realized I never rlly talked about these things in the au but it's something that I think is pretty cool :)

hiccup and wings >:) @mr-business-whump
hmmm, another completely random word that could have NO connection to ANYTHING else i've written hmm hmmmm
The gods certainly had a sense of humor, if Hiccup was any judge. Whatever magic had taken his body and given him this new form could NOT have come at a worse time.
For days now, he'd been worried about a direct attack. Hunters knew where Dragon's Edge was. They'd attacked before, and would again. Scouting ships had been seen and sunk over the past few weeks, only solidifying Hiccup's certainty that an attack was approaching.
Did it really have to be tonight?
The Thunder Ear blared across the Edge's bay as whoever was on watch duty spotted ships outside the harbor. Dragons roared, the riders shouted, torches flared, and Hiccup was paralyzed.
His body had been transformed utterly; the tall tales of the Lycanwing turning out to be incredible fact. Fangs filled his mouth, spines ran down his back and along a whippy tail, talons scored grooves in the floor of his hut, and wings... beautiful wings sprouted from his shoulders.
Astrid was outside. She was yelling for Hiccup. Toothless, who'd watched the transformation in horror, wailed to her. The door flew open and Astrid stopped dead. The noises of battle were beginning outside, but inside the hut, dead silence reigned.
"Hiccup..." Astrid managed after a moment. "The Lycanwing...? Can it really...?" She raised a hand, and Hiccup pressed his nose into her palm. The magic moment broke as a boulder projectile smashed into the Edge.
Hiccup snarled, trying to convey 'There's no time for this. We have to drive them off, now!' He pulled away from Astrid and nudged her towards Toothless. Stormfly could fly solo, and... so could Hiccup.
The night air, already full of smoke and screams, felt like pure water to Hiccup as he spread his wings on the edge of his platform. Astrid was close behind on Toothless. Momentary worry seized the part of Hiccup's brain that had two legs; if he leapt, would he fall? Not know how to fly? But instinct as strong as iron took over and he leapt.
He had never truly flown before tonight. He had been a passenger, a weight on his dragon's back, but now! Now, the sky was his. The earth was a distant memory. The stars called to him.
Arrows whistled past his head. Ah yes. An invasion. He peered through the smoke and his night-accustomed eyes immediately picked out the lead ship. Someone was shouting orders.
Hiccup was worried that he wouldn't know what to do, but instinct saved him again. Reddish fire rushed up his throat and out over the ships. Screams rose from below and bells rang to call for help from the other ships, but he didn't care. The heat in his chest was amazing, and he wanted every ship to burn.
He soared over the bay and set fire to more ships, hearing more desperate shrieks from the men below. His human mind recoiled at the sounds. Bearing down on the last ship was a mistake: they had a net shooter. It launched just as he passed over it.
Far above, Toothless screeched in panic at the sight of Hiccup crashing to the deck inside the net. A plasma blast shattered the launcher, then splintered the mast, a third taking out a group of hunters who'd been advancing with weapons. Astrid leapt off Toothless's back as they landed on the ship and started slashing at the net. Hiccup roared, trying to shake it free. The bells started again. A retreat? He couldn't tell through the chaos.
The net tore and Astrid jumped back on Toothless. "Quick, back to your hut!" she shouted. Hiccup looked around and realized that the moon was low in the sky...
He landed on the platform next to the other two and gasped in pain; his skin felt like it was tightening around him. His jaws ached as his fangs began to shrink.
"Come on," Astrid said, dragging him inside. Once the door had closed, Hiccup collapsed. His wings were agony, the spikes down his back were retreating into his spine, his talons were shrinking down to nails again. His tail thrashed until it was too small to. He wanted to scream.
Then it was over, and he was panting on the floor. Astrid was kneeling beside him, but he couldn't see her face in the darkness of the hut. He felt raw, exposed, like he'd been skinned and left to suffer. Very carefully, she moved forward and took his head into her lap. Hiccup realized dimly that his clothes and armor must have ripped away as he transformed, but he was too exhausted and confused to care.
He cried as Astrid brushed his hair from his face.

Horizontober day 30: Favorite Weapon
The thing I like most about the Spike Launcher is how much damage it does. It was between this and any bow that shoots Precision arrows, but this one has explosives attached to some of its ammo, so it won out.
#horizontober2023#my art#horizon forbidden west#hfw#aloy#I don't really need to say anything else in the tags that I haven't said in the post about the spike launcher#but thanks for going through horizontober with me#one day left!

First up; Dan Heng & March meet Nora & Ren.
Dan Heng: ...
Ren: ...
Dan Heng: I assume your teammate is...?
Ren: Just as chaotic as yours? Yes.
Dan Heng: Hm. Is she also pink haired or just mine?
Ren: A Red head actually. But her clothing and asthetic should be pink enough.
Dan Heng: Mhm. One more question?
Ren: What's that?
Dan Heng: Would you die for them?
Ren: Absolutely. Tea?
Dan Heng: Please.
~~~~ Meanwhile with the ladies~~~~
March: No way...a grenade launcher that transforms into a hammer?!
Nora: YEP! Quite reliable in any situation.
March: That's so cool! I got this Ice bow that can freeze opponents dead in their tracks!
Nora: Woah! I think you and Weiss would get along with Ice powers.
March: Oh, but there's more, just check out this awesome move!
March fires her ultimate ability, amazing Nora as she sees the arrow turn into animal like shaped sculptures then explode into puffs of snow.
March: How was that?
Nora: That...IS...AWESOME!
March: I KNOW RIGHT?!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(I don't know why I made this...just thought the two pairs seemed similar. A calm monk or ninja like person paired equally well with a energetic or chaotic partner.)

Shadows Entwined: part 10
BatmanVsTmnt!Leonardo x sidekick!reader
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 / Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Bonus (18+)
-------------
A/N: I’ll say that part 10 is a milestone, and that after this, I’ll go to bed. See y'all tomorrow😂💙
-------------
Warnings: I guess fighting is a warning and spelling.
The reader and the turtles are 19.
-------------
Stocked up on anti ooze, all of you jumped into your respective vehicles, before heading towards Ace. You found yourself stuffed into the Turtle Van, alongside Raphael, Donatello, Batgirl, Robin and of course, Leonardo. You wouldn’t have complained if you had been able to find yourself in such a tight space with the blue eyes ninja turtle, but since he was driving the van, it made that pretty much impossible. Especially when your little brother had decided to take up the passenger seat, going so far as to blow raspberries your way, when you told him to put on a seat belt.
All in all, the Turtle van was… something. It was not what you had expected, but well, it was able to drive, though it shrieked at every turn of the wheels. Your brother clearly wasn’t impressed, sitting on the passenger seat with folded arms, judging Leonard’s driving with every movement.
“So you ride around in this thing, on purpose?”, Robin asked, once again looking around the van with a judgmental look. That was when you noticed Leo’s small smirk in the front mirror, before he pulled on a leaver beside him, causing the van to - what would be the best way to describe it? - Armour up. A slightly tinted glass was brought down before the front window, and from the back of the van, an engine emerged, fire spurring out of the exhaust pipes.
The new speed of the van surpassed Batman’s Batmobile for a time, causing you and Batgirl to grab onto the front seat, fighting to keep yourselves standing, all while Robin lightened up in shock and amazement.
“Okay, that’s cool!”, your brother exclaimed, holding on tight to his seat.
You looked up to the mirror once more, where you once again caught the eye of Leo, along his small smug grin that made your stomach tingle.
It didn’t take long before Ace Chemicals emerged at the end of the street. Its big black gates closed, and its towering walls looming over you, with torches of fire lining the walls and the roofs of the facility. In some ways it reminded you of Arkham Asylum, with the addition of fire and metal piping.
But your upcoming arrival at Ace Chemicals did not go unnoticed. Shredder and Ra’s al Ghul’s men saw all of you come down the street, once again with Batman in the lead. The men upon the wall was given the order, pulling the strings of their bows, sending explosive arrows raining down over you. The arrows blew up around the van and the Batmobile, both swerving in order to avoid them. Two sharp turns from Leo, sent you crashing to the back of the front seat, your hands instinctively latching on to Leo’s shoulders. Robin was about to comment on how this wasn’t the time to flirt with the driver, men then you all caught a glimpse of the rocket launcher at the top of the wall. You could almost hear Mikey scream from the Batmobile.
In a swift move, Leo pressed the pedal to the metal, heading up in front of the Batmobile, where he used the back of the van as a ramp, deflecting the rocket, sending it into a jump before it collided with the road further back.
The explosion shocked the van, and you could not help but stare in shock at Leo. “Did- did you just?”, you asked in amazement.
“I did!”, Leo smiled, continuing the van forward as more arrows came raining down around you.
As the van got closer and closer to the gate, many of the men at the top started to run off, not wishing to be coladural in the collision course the van was set on. Those at the top that did not get away in time,was sent flying as the van broke through the gates.
“What a nice place”, Donnie said, the sarcasm in his voice was heavy, as he took in the surrounding containers you drove past, all in a straight line for the main building, topped with the all capital letters of ACE.
As Batman once again took the lead, out of the corner of your eye, you noticed one of the cranes turning, a container swinging at the end of it. You knew before it dropped, pointing at it, just as it started falling from the sky.
“Look out!”
The Batmobile just managed to slip past it, before it blocked your way. Leo, with the van going at a very high speed, made a sharp turn to the right, avoiding the container with only the side of the van scratched, heading down another path. The turn was so sharp that Robin flew out of the passenger seat, causing you to call out for him, telling him this was why you wanted him to wear a seat belt in the first place. Who would have thought that even in certain danger, you would still find a way to tell Robin; “I told you!”
Down the other path, Leo was the one to notice the crane moving once more, knowing exactly what it meant now. Especially when he saw the new container it was swinging around.
“Donnie”, Leo called out in a stern voice, and for a moment you wondered how he could keep so calm. He had just deflected a rocket, he had almost crashed the van, and the windshield was gone, having been torn off when the van scratched the container.
“On it!”, Donnie called back, heading to the back of the van, followed by Raph and Batgirl that helped him into the strange contraption you had seen when you had entered the van.
Adorned with a baseball helmet and a joystick-like shift in hand, Donnie was raised through an opening in the roof of the van. Using the shift, he maneuvered himself so that he was facing the crane. With his tongue poking out and a small smirk, Donnie aimed for the crane, his finger pressing down on one of the buttons on the shift.
"Bossanova".
A manhole cover, painted to look like a pizza, was sent flying through the air, and into the glass of the command post of the crane. You could only imagine the confused expression on the crane operator’s face, before his post was gunned down by more manhole covers.
Just as you thought you could breathe a sigh of relief, for at least one second, an arrow shot straight through the side view mirror, causing you to jump at the piercing sound. That was when one of Leo’s hands let go of the wheel, resting on top of the one you still had placed on his shoulder, giving it a comforting squish.
“Raph! Batgirl!”, Leo called out to the people in the back of the van. “You’re up!” He didn’t even have to say it twice, before both Raph and Batgirl was ready, both on their motorcycles.
Donnie had turned his attention towards the pursuing motorcycles, shooting manhole covers at them. Yet the men dogged, heading straight up to the sides of the van. One even managed to climb onto the side of the van. But his time on the van was short lived, as Raph and Batgirl’s motorcycles shot out from the sides, sending the men flying off. In the last pieces of the side mirror, you could see both Batgirl and Raph punch and kick every motorcycle they came by, taking the men by surprise.
Leo did another sharp turn, bumping the other side of the van against the wall of containers. You stumbled and fell into the passenger seat, causing Leo to look away from the road ahead of him for a short moment.
“Where the hell did you get your driver's license?”, you asked, rubbing your temples.
Leo chuckled, almost in relief as his eyes found their way back on the road. “In New York of course”.
You were about to make a joke, mentioning how you would never travel to New York if that was how people were driving. But then you heard the creaking sound of containers, and saw the bright yellow eyes in the left side view mirror.
“We got mutants!”, Raph yelled from the motorcycle, confirming your suspicion.
Soon the road and the top of the containers were roaming with humans turned animal mutants, all growling and roaring in your direction. Donnie directed his fire at them, taking out both a hippo and a lion, before a wolf sprung on him, pushing him to the flat surface of the roof.
“Nice murder wolf, uhg…”, Donnie said, using his bow staff to keep him off.
“I got this”, Robin said, crawling to the top of your van through your sisterly protests.
Like a small lighting, Robin was on the roof in no time, kicking the now yelping dog off Donnie, before helping him to stand. They exchanged friendly smiles, before the roof was swarmed by more mutants. With bow staff in hand, Donnie was ready to defend Robin. But to his surprise, the boy wonder pulled out a smaller stick, and with one small button push, it extended to a full size yellow bow staff. With a battle cry, he jumped on them, soon finding him and Donatello jumping and kicking over one another, reading and aiding each other with ease.
As you watched everything from the side view mirror, you turned to Leonardo, his eyes focused on keeping the van in line with all the moving around on top of it.
“What do you want me to do?”, you asked the leader in blue, waiting for him to give you some kind of order.
“Nothing”, Leo answered, not taking his eyes off the road. “You stay in the van”.
“What?!”, you exclaimed in bewilderment. Both of your families was out there, fighting a battle against an army of mutants, and he did not want you to help? What the hell was that about?!
“You heard me”, he said, still not looking away from the road. “You can’t go out there”.
“But why?!” You could feel the frustration and confusion build up inside of you. You were ready to go!
“You just can’t, okay!”, he said, sounding like a scolding parent, his eyes shooting you a warning look.
“I can’t just sit around, Leo!”, you yelled. “At least give me a reason!”
Leo opened his mouth, ready to yell out an answer, when the van suddenly was pushed hard to the side by a mutant elephant. Leo turned the wheel, making the van turn shaply once more. You yelped when Donnie’s irritated face showed up, upside down by your window.
“Hey!”, Donnie yelled angrily, slamming his fists against the window. “We’re still out here!”
“I know! I know!”, Leo yelled back, stress building up inside of him.
“Leo”, you said, catching his attention once more. His pretty blue eyes almost looked like they did back in Arkham. He was scared. “Why can’t I go?”
“Because…”. Leo bit his lip as his eyes flickered between you and the road. “Because I won’t let you get hurt, okay! I care about you too much to let that happen! I don’t think I’ll be able to live with myself if you got hurt! Especially not after Arkham!”
You were somewhat shocked by Leonardo’s outburst. The extent of his emotions was like a surprise to you. It was obvious that he cared for you, everybody had noticed it, but you had never realized how much he cared for you.
Before you could comprehend and answer, Batgirl drove up on your side with the elephant mutant hot on her heels. Using her motorcycle, she lured him to a line of chemical tanks, sliding under them as he headbutted straight into them, slamming them together one by one. Batgirl was quick to get away on her motorcycle, before the mutant slammed the tanks against the wall, causing an explosion with Batgirl’s silhouette standing in front of it. You could only imagine how Donnie’s jaw dropped to the floor at the sight.
With everything quieting down on the roof, Donnie and Robin having thrown all the mutants of the van, and Raph and Batgirl flanking your sides, you headed straight for the main building. But then came the loud, earth shaking thuds.
A container got blown out of its alignment, separating you, Leo, Donnie and Robin from Raph and Batgirl. Leo brought the spinning van to a grinding halt, facing the dust cloud that hung in the air. The sudden jerk of the stop, caused you to be thrown off your seat and against Leo, you just managed to catch you, rubbing his head with his free hand.
“Didn’t you tell Robin something about a seat belt?”, he groaned. But you did not answer him. Instead you shut up, pointing through the dust cloud.
“Leo!”
Through the dust, you saw the eyes of a large mutant, wearing a Foot mask. But to your surprise, it wasn’t just any mutant, but a t-rex, its eyes directly on the van. It roared at you, breaking its mask, showcasing its many sharp teeth, before it stomped towards you.
“Aw, come on!”, Leo exclaimed, quickly putting the van in reverse, sending it squeaking down the road. Everything shook as it followed you, its roars hitting your ears. And that’s when you felt the light of a sudden bright idea.
“I’m going out there”, you said, getting up from the front seats.
“What?!”, Leo asked, his eyes wide, trying to grab for you, getting a grasp on your cape. “No!”
“Leo, let go!”, you said, pulling on your cape. “I have an idea!”
“Whatever it is, it’s going to get you killed!”
“No it won’t! Now, let go!”
“No!”
Then, out of nowhere, the sky to your right side illuminated in bright colors and fireworks, the Bat Signal being shown in flickering lights. Seemed like Mikey got to hit every button. But in the short moment Leo’s attention was caught by the sudden fireworks beyond the containers, you took this as the moment to jump out of his grasp and up onto the roof, with Leo calling out after you.
You found yourself up on the roof of the van, the wind blowing in your ears. You ignored the questioning looks by Donnie and Robin, before you started running towards the giant beast. By the use of your grappling hook, you jumped from the van and towards the mouth of the mutant dinosaur, throwing the anti ooze at its open jaws. The t-rex's eyes widened as it started turning human again, falling to the ground with a sound of discomfort.
As you fell towards the ground, you saw Raph’s motorcycle coming up to catch you. With one hand, he grabbed onto your arm and swung you onto the back of his motorcycle.
“That was pretty cool, (H/N)”, Raph yelled over the wind.
“I thought so too!”, you yelled back. “You think Leo saw it?”
“He better have”, Raph laughed, following his brothers in the van, as you all rushed towards the main building, relieved when you saw the Batmobile come in from the left hand side, continuing in the same direction as you.

so like I know there are some followers of mine who said they are interested in playing the Reboot Ninja Gaiden games, and I have made this post providing a few pointers. I’m NOT an expert, but here are my notes from my experience if you want to play the reboot Ninja Gaiden games. But also please look into other resources made by the Ninja Gaiden community, especially with step by step guides on how to be a better player at the game or just getting through the game level by level.
if you’re playing a night Gaiden game for the first time, or the first time in a LONG time, please for the love of god pick the lowest difficulty setting there is on offer. This usually means ‘Normal’, ‘ninja dog’, or ‘Acolyte’, which are the ‘easiest’ to start with. I’d genuinely suggest doing your first complete playthrough on these difficulties first.
Personally I’d reccomend starting with Ninja Gaiden II, be it the original vanilla version for the xbox360 (backwards compatible on modern Xbox hardware), Ninja Gaiden II Sigma or remastered version from the Master Collection, or the updated Ninja Gaiden II Black for new Gen consoles. I say this personally because the action of Ninja Gaiden II overall is much more fast paced and instantaneous compared to the original (at least in my experience). Really important to note that vanilla Ninja Gaiden II DOES NOT feature sections where you get to play as Momiji, Ayane or Rachel. So if you want some variety in your gameplay style I’d suggest sticking to the Sigma versions or NG II Black.
You can try the original Ninja Gaiden Black, but it kinda operates with early Souls-like Logic kinda. It’s much slower from what I personally experience, and it’s less forgiving with its health system. In NG II, health thankfully regenerates when enemies are cleared out, but that doesn’t happen in the first game. You have to stockpile on potions, and even then, you’d probably have to ration them out + what you use to buy the potions are also used to upgrade your weapons. So you have to pick WISELY AND PLAN AHEAD. If in doubt check out Ninja Gaiden Sigma. The NG community have made efforts to point out any differences, pros, and cons between the Black and Sigma versions of the game. Ultimately it’s up to you if you play the first one, just know that if you manage to get to Alma, you’re doing alright! <- she’s a hard boss fight so prepare to fail a lot before succeeding.
In Ninja Gaiden you will obtain various weapons throughout your playthrough! Everyone has their favourite, so ultimately please when you get a new weapon try it out immediately. Always go to the weapon’s techniques for inputs for attacks, which operate with fighting game logic mostly. When you upgrade them you’ll unlock more moves, but I suggest upgrading the dragon sword first and then later upgrading the weapon you use the most next, so on an so forth.
Vanilla Ninja Gaiden II will have consistent frame rate drops because the game was pushing the Xbox360 to its absolute limit as it was throwing enemy after enemy at you. I don’t know if the same can be said if emulated through Xenia (Xbox360 emulator).
Much like Souls games, your failures will eventually lead to success. However some fights and levels are definitely designed in a way to frustrate you, and even tire you out. Sometimes there’s a miniboss after a miniboss you just beaten.
Essence is used to buy upgrades and items, so buy what you think is most important. You can always stockpile essence and come back later to buy stuff at muramasa’s shop. however there is a limit to how many items you buy in NG II, each item can only be maxed out to three. So plan carefully when you need to use them. However items are not available in razor’s edge, and instead you have to buy upgrades and moves from the skill tree menu.
dragon statues (or falcons) and the Bow and Arrow are your best friend. Use them accordingly, especially for enemies with rocket launchers which WILL BE THROWN IN YOUR DIRECTION CONSTANTLY.
Please throughly search the dead bodies of fallen ninja, they will give you special Ninpo techniques, weapons or valuable items that can extend your life bar. They also may give you hints on what to do to be a better player.
Always check your surroundings first before moving on after a boss fight especially in NG II, please use your bow and arrow! you can thank me later :3
Pressing the jump button + the strong or weak attack button will make you do the flying swallow attack, which is certainly useful to help you get enemies off your back. There are also counter attacks, and please please block as liberally as you can.
WALL RUNS ARE ALSO YOUR BEST FRIEND!!!
For NGII and Razor's Edge: Please use the obliteration technique on heavily injuried enemies that aren't dead yet. Genuinely, please for love of god use this technique (Y or triangle) on said enemies because you will get a nasty as fuck surprise when they suicide kill you via a bomb and take 25% of your health. The difference between other action games and Ninja Gaiden is that enemies WILL FIGHT BACK. so be on your toes even around regular standard grunts, because they can just as easily kill you as bosses can.
Take your time with bosses, seriously learning and telegraphing their behaviour and attack patterns will help you obtain victory. It’s also part of the fun. Always take advantage of any attack openings of theirs. Be careful of their grabs, which can often take out 25% or more of your health if you’re not careful. Dashing and Dodging to maintain distance is also your best friend.
if you’re struggling, don’t be afraid to put down the game for a few days and come back later. Trust me after a week of putting the game down, I went back to it and made MUCH better progress than I could last time I played it. Serious the longest time I can recommend spending time with the game is at least completing whole chapter or one whole chapter and being halfway through the next one.
Be prepared to die a lot. Especially in Razor’s Edge which if you do intend to play it know that the game isn’t as polished in my opinion. Even being clipped by a boss can take 25% of your health.
Speaking of Razor’s Edge, I’d only recommend it if you really like ninja gaiden, and if you’re willing to endure a lot of quick time events and button prompts. it’s combat does insist you be extremely aggressive that much I do know but you can always do some practice in the ninja trials under the ‘Shadows of the World’ on the menu selection.
