Analysis #1

"New world" - CYBERWORLD

⚠SPOILERS AHEAD⚠

After all the wait, the new web series Cyberworld is out, this new continuity brings a new scenario for the Autobots and Decepticons: A virtual simulation.

The episode "Optimus Prime crash land on Cyberworld" is pretty straight forward with the premise.

It starts with our Prime waking up mid air, while this happens we can hear a voice calling out for him in panic. No ship in sight from which he may have been drop out of, as if he had materialized into thin air.

After hitting the ground, not without finding a few trees that soften his landing in a very unfortunate, and quite funny, sequence, Optimus stands up but is quickly hit with an "upgrade".

From this alone we can start to suspect what are the rules of this world. We have a level meter, which Optimus due to just arriving, is on one, next are Optimus' abilities, there's only two at the moment which are his vehicle mode and most likely Optimus' own fighting knowledge, meaning he doesn't have any weapons on him. Lastly, a map.

All those elements make reference to the ones you would find in a videogame, meaning this world may come with challenges one most defeat, missions to level up and possibly escape.

Once the update is complete Optimus notices his new environment and acts confuse about it, pointing out the obvious organic surroundings.

"This is certainly not Cybertron" Optimus says, expressing a mix of annoyance and confusion as he looks around the area.

Later on he notices a new area, a desert, he decides to approach it after taking a look at an strange flower. As he walks and passes the flower strange blue cube surround it for a moment just to disappear less than a second later, along with the sound that could only be described as "electronic"

As Optimus enters and walks through the sand land he seems uncertain about the this other terrain, not familiar in the slightest with organic territory, this could mean that in this timeline the war hasn't/didn't reach the earth, or even left cybertronian grounds.

After a bit of wandering around, Optimus spots a small ship, one that carries the Autobot symbol, hopeful of the possibility of an ally he runs towards the ship but is stopped by the ground beneath him shacking.

As Optimus falls back a new enemy arises, Scorponok, who immediately threats the Prime, while also introduces themselves. Optimus quickly stands up, ready for a duel but notices he doesn't posses his axe.

"Huh, there's usually an axe" Going back to the abilities listed at the start of the episode it's most likely that the empty spot was/is meant for this weapon. Either Optimus will gain it back doing a quest or it will be replaced with other power.

Optimus tries to introduce himself and give his know speech but Scorponok immediately shuts it down and strikes, at this Optimus decides to run away back towards the jungle in an attempt to lose the bigger bot. During Optimus' escape we get the first look at his vehicle mode.

Unfortunately he gets stuck in the sand and has to change back to avoid Scorponok's attacks, resuming his way to the jungle where manages to turn again, this time in a solid ground for his wheels and where he cannot be followed.

Taking a break to remove the sand out of his joints, Optimus gets notified of energon being in close range, he looks around trying to find it until a light emerges in front of him and a cube comes out of the soil, he takes it and it disappears seconds later. We can see Optimus level bar going up, but stops a bit just before being full, this means that the more energon one gains/finds, it grants the levels going up, this may bring different benefits by the videogame logic: Longer lasting stamina, stronger armor, more weapons, etc.

Right after this Optimus hears a very angry voice and strong steps coming right at his direction. We are introduced to the well known king of the Dinobots, Grimlock, who yells at Optimus for taking the energon he claims to had have been waiting weeks for.

Optimus' scan recognizes Grimlock as both Dinobot and Autobot, yet he calls Grimlock 'Dinobot' instead of his designation, which means Dinobots are known maybe as different 'species', like minicons, or mostly as a subdivision in the Autobot faction but never had they been properly introduced to Optimus.

Grimlock introduces himself and immediately charges at Optimus, who once again has to fight for his life.

Another detail to note is that if a bot is hit or suffers damage, small blue cubes will pop out of them and disappear in an instant, similar to the ones that appeared on the flower moments ago.

Grimlock talks about waiting for the energon for a long time, when he first appear he came out of the deep jungle, meaning he may have been hiding while waiting for the energon to appear, the reason for his camping was that he was low and has not being able to find any, Grimlock was probably hiding to surprise any other bots that may come by and try to take the energon. Optimus comes in and does exactly that.

Optimus decides to once again run away from the fight but this time, his opponent keeps close to him while going through the jungle, he switches between alt-mode and robot to avoid obstacles like trees and rocks. During this chase we can see once again Optimus' stats and they have once again change.

When Optimus took the energon their level had gone almost all the way, after fighting with Grimlock and taken a few hits, it had gone to half, meaning that taking damage makes the energon/levels go down. This is what the blue blocks meant, meaning they are literally the energon leaving they body as it takes damage. Grimlock most have faced an opponent strong enough to get him low enough to force him to camp in a known energon spawn.

After escaping the t-rex by getting him stuck in a tree, Prime hears a loud noise coming from the sky, as he looks up he notices it's a ship, similar to the one he found before, this one has the Autobot symbol as well, it seems to have a bright yellow tone. Optimus follows the ship hopeful that it's his dear scout the one falling out of the sky.

"Is it possible?...Bumblebee?"

Somewhere in the bast jungle, the scout awakes with a headache, receiving the upgrade Optimus had received at the start. While complaining he hears heavy steps getting louder behind him, Bumblebee looks behind him, relived to have company, for his misfortune it is none other than this world's version of the infamous warlord, Megatron.

He has a far different appearance than the one he had last time the community saw him.

Confused, Bumblebee asks Megatron where are they and how did he end up in there, that's when the scout remembers what seems to be moments before he fell into that world. Him, running towards Optimus before he disappeared into a bright light, reveling the voice that had woken up Optimus as he fell was Bumblebee's.

In the flashback we can see three silhouettes be taken by the light, the biggest one being most likely Optimus, thinking about other characters that we know are to appear in the series, it is most likely one of the bots who came in with Optimus is Elita, as far as I'm aware no other Autobots have been announced for this series that could fill the spot.

Yet.

Going back to the bull and the bee.

Bumblebee assumes that what took Optimus was the Decepticons doing, accusing Megatron.

"You did it. didn't you? You won...You and your decepticreeps!"

At this Megatron smiles, seeming amused at the bot's bravery. He offers his fand to Bumblebee, a symbolic act of truce.

"I am no Decepticon and you are no Autobot, we are all just survivors here"

This means that whatever created the world and trap these bots in it is not part of any faction, Quintessons perhaps?.

In the distance trees can be seen being taken down, immediately we see it is due to Grimlock, who is remains persistent in chasing Optimus. Unfortunely for the Dinobot, Prime creates a plan, using some vines from the trees to restrain him and leaving quickly, set on finding Bumblebee, who has started walking around with Megatron.

We get a look at Megatron's stats and they reveal a few things.

He posses three abilities: The axe we saw earlier, his alt-mode, obviously is a bull and what seems to be a laser, most likely his fusion canon. There's also his level, since we did not get Grimlock or Scorponok's, Megatron has the highest level among the known players of the world, meaning he has been in there for a while already.

Megatron explains to Bumblebee how the world they are in is incredibly hostile, that if one is not careful enough they will become "rust in the wing", meaning Megatron has others died in that world, making emphasis in his experience and long stay.

Megatron stops in the middle of a weirdly empty area and stays put, Bumblebee tries to figure out what's so special about it when suddenly a big green light come out the floor, startling Bee.

Megatron pushes Bee into the light while speaking of how the energon is for the strong to take. They are introduced to the challenge: a platform are with targets scattered all over. Bumblebee looks confused when a scoreboard appears not understanding the instructions.

"Hit the targets...commence programming"

Megatron repeat what the AI as he transforms and tells Bumblebee to go for the targets to win energon and proceeds to do exactly that, smashing every target he finds.

Bumblebee complains of not having a weapon and not being able to participate just to looks right beside him and see two laser guns floating, he takes one and tries to aim at different target but keeps being interrupted by Megatron, who destroys them before the scout has a chance to shoot. Bee tries to tell Megabull that the AI probably put the lasers there for a reason, that they should be shotting instead of destroying the targets, but Megatron ignores him and continues with the destruction.

At the end, when only one target remains, Bee rushes to it and is finally able to shoot it and takes the last, and only, point. All while giving us a look at his vehicle mode.

As the scores marks 49 to 1, Bumblebee complains as to why do they have separate score if there were to be a team, to this Megatron just chuckles until the AI announces he actually has zero points, revealing the scout was right about the targets needing to be shot and not destroyed.

After Bumblebee teases Megatron for his mistake a blue light covers him and grants him his prize, enough energon to level him up all they way to halfway of level 2. As he turns to look at his companion he sees Megatron on his knees, surrounded by a red light, most likely getting energon taken away, could be that the energon taken was the one given to Bumblebee, meaning Megatron must be at down to halfway to level 6.

Unsurprising to anyone, Megatron is annoyed at this, so at the moment Bumblebee turns around to keep celebrating his win, the Decepticon pulls his canon and repeats his words to Bumblebee as he shoots.

"And I told you...

Only the strong survive"

Bumblebee gets send backwards, hitting the hard soil of the jungle a few time like a rock being thrown in the water, as he loses the energon he just gained.

While he lays in sore in the grass, he hears someone approaching, thinking it's Megabull, he tries to act brave and ask if he's back for more. He is pulled from the floor into a sitting position, as he looks up he see the bright blue eyes of none other than Optimus.

"Optimus...is that you?"

"I have you, my friend"

As they reunite it marks the end of this first episode.

As a new fan of the franchise it's exciting seeing the start of what could be a great project with an interesting concept.

Everything about this new show is so catchy from the animation to the plot and comedy moments, I tried to not include those to avoid taking the first impression to anyone who hasn't seen it yet, which I recommend to change.

This shows has a great potential and I have high hopes, as a fan of web series it makes me happy that Transformers decided to take this approach and hope that we get new episode soon.

I'm not aware of how many episodes will this show be conformed of so I will not be doing an analysis of each but I will be doing theories, headcanons or analysis of an specific aspect of it, it has a lot to explore and can't wait to see where it leads.

I apologize if the gifs have bad quality, the app I used has had some issues, I will be looking into getting a different one, I wish to give the best possible into the visuals of this blog, since I have sometimes trouble explaining or elaborating of some scenes.
