You know, I don’t know much about genetics, but one idea I hear often in fanon is that seekers only really have other seekers as sparklings. I know this is more meant to emphasize how special they are, but I find it interesting that if alt modes are inheritable traits, then are some more dominant than others?

Like, taking this headcanon ultra-literally, then that would mean that the traits for seekers, aka a jet alt mode, would be the most dominant gene when it comes to alt modes and so there would be only a small chance of having anything other than a seeker. What other modes would be more or less dominant? What traits could be passed on?

Someone who actually knows genetics and likes transformers worldbuilding should figure out what cybertronian genes could work, because I’m certainly not insane enough to learn genetics for this

Soundwave (all of them, but I had in mind TFP and Earthspark) has very strange reactions to his face behind touched- often either going completely rigid in frame and field in a way that pretty much screams Fuck off!/Going to bite/Rebuke: Return or completely going limp.

This is because

a) He's not used to his face being exposed, let alone handled outside of a medical situation

b) Touching his face may or may not cause his telepathy to in voluntarily "latch" onto whoever it is that's holding onto him- sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes it's a really, really bad thing. Could be why he covers his whole face at all times.

c) Some combination of agoraphobia and under socialization (prevalent if you like the "he was raised in the pits" hc)

Oh, I can see this, especially with TFP Soundwave, but then again I'm a little unhinged about the guy, so-

Medical professionals, even half-trained ones, have a 'neutral' sense of EM fields that don't trigger any protective instincts or hair-trigger reactions. It's a set procedure to follow that even TFP Soundwave, who tumbled down to the Pits and reared by Ravage, can still slide into it.

Soundwave's social mores are very skewed since Ravage became the primary role model and caretaker after losing everyone. He has a feline outlook when it comes to many things. The medbay is one of the few areas he bothers with social niceties due to health and maintenance.

Because of his telepathic abilities, they quickly developed ways for Soundwave to function, especially in the Pits. Before the mask, Soundwave didn't like meeting people's faces as he would unintentionally skim the strong surface thoughts due to heightened emotions or get dragged into people's minds with direct eye contact. He would try to make himself small and unnoticeable. 'Eyes are the window to the soul,' and Soundwave was struggling with control as some left their windows wide open. The safety habits he formed while traveling alone and lost in Kaon's underbelly became behaviors that made him stand out very badly in the Pits' gladiatorial clades. The perceived meekness would have served him better among the Volupi, not someone in gladiator training.

Because of close calls and a few instances where Ravage had to call a few 'favors,' the mask adds several layers of protection. It functions as a shield where no one thinks Soundwave is too timid or vulnerable to target by creating an off-putting 'faceless' head, and it provides an additional barrier where Soundwave can better anchor his psyche by reaffirming separation.

Later on, as he gains prominence and credits, he upgrades it to a multifunctional mask as he cements the persona of "not being like any other Cybertronian."

Because the mask is too entwined with his identity, if someone tried to touch his bare face without permission, he would lash out. Physically and telepathically.

✨MY TAKE ON TFA SPARKLINGS/PROTOFORMS✨

All you only need are three components; a protoform, a spark, creators’ CNA!

-|The spark can either be formed from a spark bound or from the AllSpark itself

-|An adult protoform will be essentially the best option

-|Creators’ CNA is required as well for the sparkling, and the process is quite simple

-|| I wished they could have explored Sari’s origins honestly but this shall be my head cannon that Meg’s CNA was already in the protoform and when Prof Sumdac touched it both of their infused DNA/CNA made Sari ||-

Adult Frame Protoform can turn to a small frame/sparkling once there is a spark. (Whether it’s from the AllSpark or Spark bound)

Now, because Vector Sigma isn’t within this process to create or bring life to a sparkling but an adult frame instead, the creators of the sparkling will then engage in contact by touching the molten spark protoform to mix their CNA together to create their offspring. The molten protoform with the combination of both creators’ CNA, will form a pod-like structure.

Once the pod hatches/casing opens, you have yourself a sparkling!✨

The case will open whenever the protoform structure, coding is installed fully. Every sparkling will take its own time to develop within the pod. When it is their time to emerge, the pod will blink its lights profusely

STAGE I Sparkling/Protoform/Baby

They’ll be small ofc and their hard metal plating would develop over time when the sparkling comes of age

They will need their creators’ radiation/EMF to familiarize themselves with their parents and feed on it. They can also fuel on energon from their creators fuel channels off of their digits…like a leech

I’m loving the sire megaton asks so if I may add. I can totally see Megatron kind of being a Karen type parent/dad in the sense where his sparkling can do no wrong no matter how big they are. I can see the auto bots bringing back his sparkling (because they probably don’t wanna hurt a child) after said sparkling had set fire to theit base and they’re like why is your kid doing this. And Megatron goes full Karen like my child WOULD NEVER ATTACK YOU WITHOUT MY SUPERVISION. And then probably spins it to where the autobots were probably bullying his kid and they did it as self defense. And using that as a reason to exact revenge and attack them 🤣🤣🤣!!

Meanwhile, all the other Decepticons are behind them looking like yeah the kid did that, just nodding their heads in confirmation at the autobots cause they’re going through it too 🤣🤣!!

And then Starscream is very proud but hides his smirk, and heavily denies that his sparkling is to blame as well, but once they’re back inside their own stronghold, he turns to the kid and says why would you go there and do that without me Lol 🤣🤣!! I Definitely see starscream being a parent that lightly pinches their kid but smiles at them when they’ve done something wrong.

Megatron's horrible children cause all sorts of vandalism and chaos in the Decepticon base but every single time Megatron decides it was the Autobots somehow. His beloved sparkling would NEVER cram energon jellies down his fusion cannon rendering it useless! It must have been Prime!

Soundwave tries to stage an intervention with recorded evidence of the sparklings' wrongdoings but Megatron decides the footage was doctored by the Autobots to try and drive a wedge between him and his beautiful family who break and ruin everything.

Meanwhile, Starscream's just like 'I support sparkling wrongs!' while watching his toddler smash all the buttons on the main console in the command centre, accidentally emailing the Autobots all their secret intel
