I’ve played a CRPG recently with multiple types of damage. One was a flat standard HP damage just called damage. One was a scaled percent damage called percent damage. The last one was a max hp percent damage called true damage and pretty much only one attack you got access to used it but it did a flat 2/5 of the enemies max hp as damage ignoring any modifiers you had or they had. The only reason I even realized the different damage types existed was I made it a habit to check every weapon in the shop of every new town and I saw “deals 1% of current hp as bonus damage. (Better buy this now or be kicking yourself in 50 hrs).” I still wonder what hell the developer went through to add that “Here it is you goddamn numbskulls.”
