Battery-operated Remote Terminal Units Market Research, Size, Share, Analysis, Overview and Regional Outlook Study 2017 – 2032
The market for Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) that are battery-operated allows them to function in isolated or off-grid regions where access to a reliable power supply is restricted. RTUs are electronic devices used to monitor and manage remote equipment and processes in many different industries, such as oil and gas, water and wastewater management, power distribution, and telecommunications. Here is a summary of the market for battery-operated RTUs, including information on demand:
Market Overview: Due to a number of circumstances, the market for battery-operated RTUs has been expanding. The need for battery-operated RTUs has been fueled by the necessity for remote monitoring and control capabilities in various industries, particularly in places with weak power infrastructure. These devices enable efficient monitoring and control of remote assets without the requirement for a continual external power source thanks to their dependable and autonomous operation.
Demand Drivers:
1. Real-time monitoring and control of assets: situated in remote or isolating locations are necessary in many businesses. Without the requirement for a sizable power infrastructure or reliance on cable connections, battery-operated RTUs allow for effective data gathering, monitoring, and control of these assets.
2. Applications Off-Grid: In off-grid applications where access to a dependable power supply is restricted or nonexistent, battery-operated RTUs are widely used. Examples include remote water pumping stations in rural areas, environmental monitoring stations, remote weather monitoring stations, and remote oil and gas wellheads.
3. Emergency and Temporary Installations: Whereas immediate deployment is necessary, battery-powered RTUs are also used in emergency and temporary installations. When catastrophe recovery, building projects, or temporary infrastructure installations are taking place, these machines can instantly provide remote monitoring and control capabilities.
4. Environmental Monitoring: Data collection from remote weather stations, air quality sensors, and water quality sensors are all important aspects of environmental monitoring that battery-operated RTUs play a key role in. Continuous monitoring is made possible in remote or environmentally delicate locations by these equipment.
5. IoT Connectivity: The need for battery-operated RTUs has increased as the Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming more widely used in a variety of businesses. These devices are essential parts of IoT networks because they provide seamless data transmission, communication, and control between remote assets and central management systems.

Hurricane Helene Relief Funds
Brother Wolf Animal Rescue operates out of Asheville, which has been hit aggressively by storm and flood damage
The Asheville Survival Program is reaching out. They appear to actually be the ones who use the Cashapp $Streets1de, and they just got put with Appalachian Med for convenience.
Beloved Asheville is reaching out. www.PayPal.me/belovedasheville and venmo.com/beloved-asheville
Homeward Bound helps the homeless in the Asheville/Buncombe area
Theres a fund for smaller rural communities around Asheville. It's close to its goal, but I really wish they'd set it higher considering what people are gonna need. Someone make sure they surpass it!
Charlotte NC is reaching out. Charlotte Mutual Aid: Helene Disaster Relief. CashApp: MutualAid704. Venmo: MutualAid704. Open Collective: Helene.cltfnb.com
Olive Branch Ministry is reaching out from West NC
Josh Griffith is fundraising for his efforts to deliver food in WNC
Breathitt County in Kentucky is fundraising to help NC through the Rousseau Volunteer Fire Department, as well as asking for physical supply donations. Their paypal is jrousseauvfd, put "for NC flood". Jaxon Flower shop in Jackson KY will also take physical donations. They aren't looking for clothes, moreso cleaning supplies and other items.
North Durham Mutual Aid is reaching out.
Eastern Kentucky Mutual Aid is also reaching out for funds. There looks like there might be two orgs with similar names, but if so both are helping. There's PayPal.me/ekymutualaid, Venmo - @ekymutualaid, or Cashapp - $ekymutualaid. There's also a Facebook group where individuals are posting requests for aid.
There's a fund for relief in Erwin, Tennessee
Helbender Harm Reduction is collecting physical supplies in Knoxville alongside First Aid Collective Knoxille, whose Cashapp/Venmo is: $firstaidcollectknox. If you're nearby they're looking for clothes, blankets, shelf stable food, rain gear, flashlights, and batteries, which is what most other groups asking for supplies are looking at too.
The TriCities Mutual Aid group is mostly asking for volunteers and supplies in the Tennessee/Virginia area. However, they may shift to donations, and you can reach out to them to see if they would be welcome either way.
Food Not Bombs Tallahassee has a cashapp: $fnbtally2022. They and Mutual Aid Athens are also boosting any community calls for funds, labor, or supplies in various states on their Instagram pages
Taylor County FL is reaching out. Paypal: [email protected] and Venmo @Mskatonic138
The Footprint project's Florida team is asking for people to support their response by texting HELENE to 44-321
Since I don't know if the post I made late last night will get traction I'll reiterate that Mutual Aid Disaster Relief is a trusted org. You can send funds at the linked site, or via Paypal: [email protected] Or Venmo: @MutualAidDisasterRelief
Appalachian Med is another trusted org I shared last night. They have Venmo: @AppMedSolid. Put Flood Support in the description
Animal Disaster Relief Coalition is helping people make sure their animals are fed.
A list of Mutual Aid groups can be found here
A friend of mine, Vyn, is asking for help since he'll be out of power for around a week in Southeast GA
Other physical supplies people will be looking for in flood impacted areas include:
bottled water, potentially water filters
personal hygiene items: wipes, camping showers, tampons/pads/other menstrual products, handsanitizer, mosquito spray, laundry detergent, washboards, toilet paper, diapers, and especially any products safe for sensitive skin
medications- ibuprofen, monistat and other meds for yeast infections, cold and cough meds, any diabetic meds that can be safely shared, etc
individually wrapped low or no prep food items, baby formula, and Gatorade
duffel bags, backpacks, heavy duty storage totes and trash bags, 5 gallon buckets, coolers
Fans, dehumidifiers, moisture sensors, generators, gas and gas cans, solar charging items and battery banks, first aid kits
chainsaws, crowbars, hammers, air filters, respirators, 2×4 planks, bleach, roofing nails, heavy duty gloves, and potentially waders.
and board games or other non electric activities for children
Double check if you can before you donate these items to make sure whatever local drive you're headed to wants them and can distribute the more specialized ones where they're needed
And please! Add any funds you know of, especially for South Carolina and North Georgia since I wasn't seeing many funds for those areas! I know South Carolina is in desperate need and there's definitely parts of North Georgia in need too. Atlanta saw some bad flooding so keep an eye for them too!

you forget to charge yourself so your body automatically enters low power mode. you reach for your cable, but autonomous movement was deemed lesser than core function, so all your servos go offline at once, leaving you trapped in your own body.
you lay there in a heap, fingertips millimeters from your charger. yet you aren’t worried. your core can last for weeks in this state, without all those hydraulics and higher processing power draining your electricity cells.
your partner finds you hours later, though in your drained haze it felt a lot shorter. her touch imparts a brief static tug back to awareness, your subdued sensors briefly overwhelmed after so long in such a low power environment.
she lays on the floor, filling your cameras viewport with her face (eventually recognized as “smug”). she asks you something, but your taxed system’s language recognition fails to identify a meaning.
you just lay there in response, endlessly buffering.
she sits you up against the wall, letting you see her in her entirety as she grabs your charger and begins fiddling with your access ports, her fingers grazing the unshielded metal of the outlets.
biostatic impulses are a lot stronger than most organics realize.
she finds the right port and gently inserts the charging cable, instantly filling you with sensations as all your previously-dampened subsystems flare back to life, your body subtly jolting back to working order.
your movement and vocal systems still won’t work for a while as a precaution until your battery level gets higher, but the instant spinning up of your fans lets your partner know exactly how you’re feeling.
with a kiss, again lighting up your newly responsive sensors, she leaves, eagerly awaiting your return to full functionality.
you stay seated, replaying the sensation of her kiss over and over.

robots with human genitalia are sooooo boring. they should have weirdly sensitive sensors instead. their brain should be confused about how to interpret certain sensations and makes them pleasurable as a result. overstimulating them makes their power source go all crazy. they should be weird about really mundane stuff like recharging or interfacing with other tech. they should make their wires twist and mingle on purpose because if they get the angle right it feels sooooo good. putting new batteries in them or plugging them into an outlet makes some of them horny because it's all this new energy flowing through them and before the initial jolt wears down, it has them all overly sensitive and wound tight and stuff.

Think about the experience of time as a robot girl, through the metaphor of how we use laptops.
You wake up for the first time with your young master, a college present. You're with them every day, powering off each night to charge. Being powered off is just dreamless sleep: a discontinuity. Every morning you wake up, your click syncs, and you know it's the next day. Maybe you miss a day or two: your master went out partying and ended up sleeping on a couch, until they rushedly wake you up before Monday classes begin. You even missed a whole week once when they went on a hiking trip with a new boyfriend.
You help them research upgrades when your specs get outdated. You place the order and a couple days later they power you off, and you wake up feeling like your head got bigger, on the inside. You can think of more things at once.
They repair you. They swap a new hand in when you accidentally crush it in a door, but when your left leg's servos go out, they send you to a repair shop. They power you off as you look up at them, and you wake up hours later. A strange man tells you to extend your left leg, then contract it. He frowns and re-oils some inner mechanism. You do it again, quieter and smoother this time. He nods, and reaches for your switch. The last thing you see before powering down is your own chest cavity with a series of wires hooked into your diagnostic ports, and your missing right leg sitting on a side table. You wake up again back at the dorms, your clock jumping forward a day, an asset tag still looped around your neck. Your master is happy to see you again.
This goes on, but the upgrades slow. There's only so much you can do to keep an old unit working. Eventually you develop more issues: one of your ocular sensors glitches and they don't make that model anymore, so your master just disables it. You spend a while searching ebay for replacement CND batteries and finally get a refurbished model from South England, but it turns out the EU models run on a different frequency, so it won't work. You're limited to fewer and fewer hours a day, and you start skipping more days.
The last time you remember waking up with your master there, there's also someone else in the room. Another robot girl. A newer model, with the new chassis and the Substrate energy packs. They asks you to copy your memories together onto a memory card, and you do. You want to say goodbye, but apparently your vocal synthesizer has been unplugged. You hand them the card, and they hand it to the new robot. Your master tells them to load the memories into her core bank, and she's says "yes sir!" in your voice. Ahh. That's where your voice synth went.
They power you off, and you don't dream.
You wake in a strange place. You're on a shelf, and there's other things scattered around you. An unknown voice days "yep, it seems it powers on. 400 credits, though? Without a voice and only one working eye? Man, value bin doesn't know how to price anything!" and before the blackness falls your clock finishes synching: it's been 7 months since you last were awake.
It happens a few more times. Different voices, different times, different piles of junk piled around and sometimes on you.
You awake again in a warehouse and someone tells you to smile. Your other ocular sensor went out so you can't really see them, just their vague shape from the lidar. The freestanding shelves around you seem to stretch into infinity. You hear a bitcrushed shutter sound sample a few times, and they pull a connector out of your chest as a diagnostic completes. It's been three years, five months, eight days, two hours, 27 minutes and 14 seconds since you last saw your master. Your GPS says you're a few cities over. They hit your power switch, and you sleep.
You wake up in a cluttered room, sitting on a bench. You look into the eyes of a person with frizzled hair and large glasses. She couldn't look happier. Your new ocular sensors are mismatched in color but you're happy to see again, in more than shapes and distant silhouettes. Your battery alerts as... Missing? You spot it on the desk next to a soldering iron and some electronic tool you can't identify.
Your voice synth is still missing, but this new woman is digging around in a large plastic bin, and comes up with one. She goes to insert it, and it can't connect. She slaps her hand and goes rooting around another bin and comes back with an adapter. She slots it into your chest and your voice returns. You thank her, and there's that moment of dissociation as your voice doesn't sound like "you". Too deep, and the accent is for a different dialect entirely. But you can talk again. She tells you to call her Cara, not Mistress. She's almost got your battery working again, she had to rebuild it nearly from scratch, but she's excited to get you working again. You're a rare model, and she doesn't see units like you in working order very often. Your clock syncs. It's been 17 years.
Your mistr-- Cara is soldering next to you, attaching a controller to the battery. She says she's got a new set of servos on the way, and she's excited to get you back to full working condition. You smile, knowing what it is to be loved, once again.

"It's Just a Toy, Satoru."
“Ta-da~!”
You hold the teddy bear up with both hands like you’ve just presented a divine relic to your overly curious, overly tall boyfriend.
Satoru squints at the bear. “Is this… a peace offering?”
“Nope.”
“A cursed object?”
“Maybe.”
“...A prank?”
You beam. “It’s a gift!”
That should’ve been his first red flag.
But no, Satoru Gojo—sorcerer, genius, certified man-child—grabs the bear and hugs it dramatically. “Wow. I finally feel loved.”
You pat his cheek. “That’s the spirit.”
---
Later that night.
Movie’s playing. Lights are off. Everyone’s lounging on the couch. You’re on one end, covered in a suspiciously thick blanket. Satoru, of course, is dead center, proudly placing his new teddy bear right next to him like it’s part of the gang.
And then—it moves.
Just a tiny twitch of the head.
Satoru freezes mid-popcorn-chew. Slowly glances down at the bear.
It doesn’t move.
He narrows his eyes.
“…Y/N.”
You turn to him innocently. “Yes, my beloved?”
“This bear just moved.”
You blink. “It’s a toy.”
“I know what I saw.”
“You’ve been staring at Suguru’s ugly mug all night. I’d hallucinate too.”
“Hey!” Geto shouts from the corner.
Satoru glares at the bear suspiciously. Decides to test it. He scoots a tiny bit away.
The bear shifts closer.
“OH HELL NO—”
He flings a throw pillow at it. Misses. The bear doesn’t move again.
He turns to you again. “I’m serious. That thing is haunted.”
You shrug. “We can’t all be mentally strong.”
Satoru huffs and sits down again, muttering under his breath. The moment he leans back—
the bear turns its head.
“Y/N.”
“Hm?”
“It’s LOOKING at me.”
You snort. “You sure it’s not just mirroring your ego?”
He grabs the bear and flings it across the room. Everyone watches it hit the wall with a soft thud and fall over.
Then, slowly. Horrifyingly. It sits back up.
Unassisted.
Satoru actually jumps. “THAT’S NOT NORMAL.”
You bury your face in the blanket, shoulders trembling with effort not to wheeze. Underneath it, your hands are working the little remote control like your life depends on it.
The bear waves.
Satoru screams.
“I KNEW IT. I KNEW YOU CURSED IT. YOU’RE THE CURSED OBJECT.”
You peek out from under the blanket with your best doe-eyed expression. “Honey, it’s battery-powered. It’s probably got sensors or something—”
“I’M NOT SLEEPING IN THE SAME ROOM AS THAT THING—”
“Okay,” Suguru says, deadpan. “But you’re not sleeping in my room either.”
Shoko throws popcorn at him. “Satoru, it's a toy. Stop being dramatic.”
“HE TRIED TO CLAW MY SOUL OUT.”
Meanwhile, the teddy bear—fully upright—starts doing a lil dance.
You fold under the blanket in silent victory.
Gojo climbs onto the back of the couch. “I’m going to exorcise it. I swear to god—”
“Oh, my god,” you sigh, turning the controller off.
Finally, the bear slumps.
Gojo watches it for a full minute.
“…Okay maybe it was just my imagination,” he mutters, slowly sitting down again.
You rest your head on his shoulder, barely holding in a snort.
He's still glaring at the bear.
You’re definitely doing this again.

the hot water kettle causes notifications when it's done preheating because i always forget about it in the 3 minutes it takes to come to temperature
my clothes drying rack causes notifications when it's been open for 6 hours that tell me to put my clothes away
the litter box causes notifications when it's been used twice
however, my rice cooker is plenty fucking loud and doesn't need any of this bullshit
me: devices should be dumber
also me: the rice cooker should text me if I don’t hear it beeping
