Ahhh yes! Hi, friend!! Anyone can feel free to ask me more questions from that post here! It's fun to still focus on these fics in some way even if my brain just doesn't want to write this weekend. And thank you! 💕 It was a bit more relaxing than my weekdays go fortunately, but it was unfortunately a short and busy weekend for me. Though next weekend shows a promising outlook for me to focus and relax at least! 😆 And as I've been doing with these since my responses are always so damn long, my answers are below the cut for those interested!

2. Do you consider yourself a writer? Why or not?

It’s funny because I used to view writing fanfic as something that technically was writing, but I didn’t necessarily view myself as a writer back in the day (like years ago when I first began writing fic). But I think that’s just because there’s generally been this negative view around writing fanfiction as opposed to writing entirely original content that you’re trying to publish. But looking back on that viewpoint now, it makes no sense. I definitely consider myself–and everyone else who writes fanfic–writers. We might be playing in a sandbox with some tools that others have given to us to play with, but we’re all crafting something different with those tools. Making our own unique content from it–which is the beauty of fanfic. There is literally so much creativity and love in fanfiction and I’ve read vastly better fics than I have published works, personally. And I also believe writing fanfiction is a fantastic way to improve writing and story-telling skills. I’ve certainly grown in my plot-writing, character development, dialogue and descriptions, etc. through writing fanfic. 

And I’ve written and published almost 1.1 million words over on AO3 in just over a year. So yeah, I’d tell younger me that I am in fact a writer 😆

11. What attracted you to the fandom(s)/media you write in?

This question is a bit more difficult for me to put into words an answer to, but I was drawn to Matt’s character as a whole when it comes to the Daredevil fandom. Like yes, the man is attractive and the whole wounded puppy thing gets to me, but there’s so much depth to Matt and I really love exploring that. He’s often struggling with so much internal conflict and past trauma, even struggling with letting people get and stay close to him. Though honestly, a lot of that’s also true of Michael Kinsella in Kin and Frank Castle from Punisher, too.

So besides finding them physically attractive (I mean obviously), I think I was pulled to these fandoms for the characters. I'm drawn to that internal struggle/battle within themselves and the individual traumatic pasts that all three of these men have gone through. Because I’ve experienced quite a bit of trauma in my past, too, and I feel like I can deeply relate to these three characters and their pain in my own way, especially when it comes to trying to navigate life under the weight of these things that still hang over you. But at the same time, deep down and at their core, they're all good men desperate to stay ‘good’ despite what they’ve endured and what they do. Which is just something that personally resonates with me. Though I will admit that there's just something about Matt Murdock and his inability to take care of himself for the sake of helping others that I also connect with and that I think plays a bigger role in why he's my comfort character and why I write so much for him. I see a lot of myself in Matt–his flaws especially.

"Hello. Lily speaking."

His response was gravelly and somewhat hushed: "Oh good, I was worried your sister was going to pick up."

Lily laughed, twisting the cord around her finger and leaning a bony shoulder against the wall. "She's gone out with Vernon. Can I ask who's calling?"

"Voice doesn't give me away? Nor knowing that you have a sister? Goes by the name Petunia? Dating a hideous lump?"

Another laugh. "Afraid not. Pays to be sure you know, any old perv could be calling."

"Are you calling me a perv?"

"Might be."

She heard the brush of clothes as he rearranged his limbs—probably in indignation—then, in a tone that screamed upturned-chin, said: "Fair enough. Go on then, love, tell us what you're wearing."

She snorted at that. "How do you even know how to ask that?"

"Darling, you underestimate me."

A hum. "That much is apparently true."

He was chuckling too but the resonant twang of his voice denoted the underlying motive. "But really, what’re you wearing?"

"James Potter, if you called just to get off on my voice, I’m hanging up." She very nearly did, pulling the handset away from her ear and going to slam it back on the receiver knowing he'd get an earful of plastic and have to pay to call again.

But he cried, voice all crackly through the distance, "Wait, wait!" and her ear was back against the receiver, turning red then white with the pressure as he gravelled: "I can be over in five minutes. Just promise you won't be wearing anything when I get there."

She was quick to warn him off—but her heart wasn't in it—with a lousy, somewhat nasal, "Petunia will be back soon."

She could practically hear his smirk through the phone. "I can be quick."

Ellie and Joel just be getting on each others nerves.

Ellie's a thorn in his damn side, and Joel is a big asshole.

But then again she had been sleeping on his construction site, stealing his supplies, and the little shit broke the lock on his office trailer.

So, maybe it's warranted?

She took his breath mints and then left him a pack of nicotine gum she pickpocketed, damnit! 😂

She's nineteen when they meet and has only been in Texas for a few weeks after travelling across the country on foot. Joel catches her sleeping first in his office, then in the newly installed tubs of the residential development, and finally behind their dumpsters.

Just for peace of mind, he hires her and gives her a place to stay.

A motel room that has definitely seen more bodily fluids than a toilet.

Their dynamic is a little rough. 😬

"Why in the hell are you in my office?" His jaw flexes and his eyes narrow at the kid sitting behind his desk with her feet propped up on the uneven surface of it.

There's a brand-new lock on the door, and when he leans back to check it, he confirms it's not scraped to hell and back like the last one she'd destroyed.

Tampering little thief.

"How the hell are you in my office?" For her part, she looks utterly unaffected at the glare he shoots in her direction.

If anything, she looks at him the way most people view kittens.

"I have these things called feet, Joel. I know you probably haven't looked at your ugly fucking callous-crusaders since the nineties, but they do wonders at getting you places." The delicate muscle of his upper eye twitches once, then twice.

Six in the goddamn morning, and she's already got the vein in his forehead throbbing.

He ain't doing this shit with her today, he's already got Tommy to deal with.

"Get your ass out of my chair, and then my office, before I wash your damn mouth out." she remains nonplussed, casually popping a yellowed square of gum out of its foil packet before tossing it back onto his desk.

Even has gall to slip one of his menthols from its paper cartridge and place it between her lips after she starts chewing the nicotine gum.

"Sure thing, asshole. I'll just let Carlos know that you said you didn't give a shit about his wife going into labor and that he's fired." The cigarette sticking out of that crass mouth of hers bobs with every word.

She's meant to be shadowing Carlos to learn most of the grunt work around here, but if he's out, then she is his problem today.

hehehe soo this is something from a halloween bingo a couple years ago, but the prompt has long escaped me.

bucky's a loner with a vague crush on sam, who is always taking random guys to his room (across the hall from bucky naturally), never to be seen or heard from again. after hearing more concerning noises than ususal one night (Halloween??) bucky finds blood and broken glass all over sam's dorm room and follows him up to some fucking castle where sam's family is having some kinda goddam coven meeting .. here's a snippet!

“You didn’t know where I was? You came looking for me?” Sam asks in a rush, impatient, but something else too. “You were worried, that’s it?” “I guess,” Bucky shakes his head. “Yeah, I mean – yeah. I thought you might be hurt. There’s blood –” “Put the ring on,” Sam says, reaching up to turn the light out again. “Make it fit.” Bucky slides over his thumb, and Sam helps him into the robe. “Where are we, actually?” “Stay behind me and don’t say anything. No matter what, okay?” Bucky laughs. “What kind of fucked up costume party –?” He tries to step out of the closet and back into the drafty hallway, but Sam presses in close, shuts the door again. “Bucky,” Sam says, pleading. A few hours ago, Bucky didn’t think Sam even knew his name, and now he’s saying it like that, burning him up from the inside. They’ve barely been within six feet of each other in the last few months, and now their mouths are inches away. Obviously Bucky’s going to do whatever he asks.

idk ! there's blood magic and dance rituals and a sibling power struggle and if i ever figure out how to make the bucky pov interesting while sam is the one doing all the fun stuff it'll be over for you hos!!!

Oh Victor, you spoil me. XD Y'know, I think I do have a little bit I can hand you with one of your favorite guys. We're gonna throw you some of Depths and some of Richard, since this is the only Bendy ask in my box. (Warning, spoilers ahead for both)

Searching the Depths - The Heart of the Studio: Chapter 18 - Hell's Bell

The screaming voices in her mind only got louder before they were reduced to whimpers. The man carefully took a handkerchief from her breast pocket and wiped away at the ink on her mouth and cheeks. She was trembling in his grasp, her breathing unsteady, shaken, unable to stop hyperventilating. 

"What…the HELL was that?" She looked him dead in the eyes, tears pricking her own. 

"My sheep…" he sighed. "I'm so…I'm so sorry." He looked up to the railing. "My flock, give me a moment, will you?" 

No sooner had he asked, the monsters hurried out of the room, and the ominous light of the projector flickered to life. He let go of her, hurrying to the instruments left behind. A pluck of a note on the banjo, drum, violin, and cello, and the next thing she knew, a door had opened up. 

"Let us speak somewhere more…private. Where prying eyes might grant us peace." He grasped her by the arm and dragged her in. She nearly tripped over herself at the pace he was taking her. As soon as they were inside, the door snapped shut, and the man let out a breath she hadn't realized he'd been holding. "Oh dear god we're in for it now." He held his head in exasperation as she yanked her arm out of his grasp.

"Listen buddy, you owe me some answers." Bella coughed and leaned against the wall, struggling to stay upright. "What the heck is going on here?" 

"You really aren't Henry, are you?" No emotions betrayed him, she could hardly believe he could say that with a straight face. Then again, maybe he wasn’t. How could a being with no face even have a straight one? But he seemed sincere!

"Not in the slightest. I'm five foot nothin', at least a few decades younger, and as much as I'd like to think I make a convincing man, something tells me that's not what led to your confusion." She let out a deep breath. "My name's Bella. Bella Ewe. And you are?" 

"I am the prophet of our Lord and savior, the ink demon." 

"The prophet of-" That title, oh dear. No, it couldn't be, could it? Just like Joey's story. Just like… "Sammy Lawrence?" She raised an eyebrow. "No, you can't be, that's not possible!"

"Hard to believe, isn’t it?" He sighed. "That name hasn't been mine in…I don't know how long." 

"You can't be the real Sammy. He died in the forties, he's not some-some prophet for a bunch of monsters!” She threw down her arms in frustration. “He's a brilliant composer with an amazing legacy!" 

"As flattered as I am to hear such praises, I'm sorry to disappoint you, little ewe." He leaned against the wall, gesturing rather matter-of-factly. "But I am no liar, that would go against my cause. The people that once worked here have all met with a terrible fate. And if you're here, I'm assuming you have too." 

"I…I suppose that's one way to put it." She winced as she held her side. "But…how? Why? I thought…I thought this was just a story. How is this real? How am I here?"

"Likely the same way the rest of us came here: the ink machine." His voice was so cold, she could see how tightly his fists were clenched. Almost made her afraid they'd burst.

“This is a waste of time-”

Bella held her hand up in front of him as she faced the other keepers. “Wait a sec Rich, they might be onto something.” 

“What?!”

“Well no offense, but to us, you all look the same. A name tag might be helpful in telling you apart.” 

“You can't be serious-”

“Oh I'm very serious!” She laughed. “Come on, it'll be fun! There are so many wonderful names to choose from, they've all got different meanings, it's great!” 

The snobby keeper snorted. “Oh yeah? What's Richard mean then?”

Richard was about to spit back at him, but Bella held up her hand again. “Depends on where you come from. In some cultures, it means ‘mighty ruler’, in others it's simply ‘rich’. In others still it's ‘powerful and hardy’. Though I remember one old friend…he said it meant ‘helper of humanity'. I don't know how true it is, but…” she turned and smiled at Richard, “seems fitting for someone trying to make a better world.” 

Richard froze for a few seconds before quickly pulling his clipboard closer to his face. “We have a schedule to keep-”

“Yes, and we will keep it.” She patted his arm gently. “But let's be honest, we're getting nowhere fast. I think this could help.” 

“How-”

Another keeper interrupted. “I didn't know names could have such meanings. Do they all have so much depth?” 

Bella nodded. “Oh yeah. There was this old baby names book in our local library. I had a friend who checked it out all the time, helped him pick out so many names for his characters.” She chuckled. “Probably not a flawless method, but it's what we had, and it was all in good fun. But some people don't care much about name meanings, just use whatever sounds good.” 

“What about you?” They asked. 

“Me?” She held her chin in thought. “Well, Bella means beautiful in most languages.” 

Richard raised an eyebrow. “But that's a nickname, not what was chosen for you. What does Isabella mean?”

Bella Swan is the main character very weird to write a character with the same name as me because I'm chronically addicted to ruining defining characteristics. And man, did I ruin her.

And also because I listened to this version of Where Did You Sleep Last Night/In The Pines too many times. However, the story title comes from the Crane Wives album!

Ahhh!!! Hello to you, too, my absolutely wonderful, wonderful friend (who's helped me realize I may have a peeping tom thing with Mikey 😆)!! Thank you! 💕 I'm hoping next week brings some positive change or at least some relief.

18. Are there any themes or tropes that you enjoy writing? Any themes or tropes you hate writing?

I'm sure I'm going to miss mentioning some tropes I overuse because I don't honestly know them all (and I've learned of some new ones recently).

For tropes/themes I love to write, I do enjoy a good Friends or Enemies to Lovers story. Because I love that mutual pining and slow burn and the sexual tension that comes with those fics. And the ANGST of whether or not the love interest feels the same. I thrive on that shit. I also absolutely love writing hurt/comfort into fics, whether it's physical or emotional hurt--because again, I love the angst that comes with it, but also that sweet, sweet comfort hits better afterwards. And the only one bed trope--I will slip that in whenever I can. Same with the huddle to keep warm trope. That's also my shit. And being a mom now, I do enjoy writing pregnancy and parenthood into fics and seeing how the characters I write for would be as parents.

As for tropes/themes I hate writing? I generally don't write what I don't like 😆 So I dislike writing fics with no happy ending and haven't written any (though I've considered it recently, but that's when you know Bella needs to go drink a coffee and relax). Not that I hate reading it, but I personally can't write porn without plot. I'm sorry, but if I'm writing it, I need to know why they're having sex so I will create a backstory before the smut. Other than that, I wouldn't really say there's any others I hate writing, just because I literally won't write something I won't enjoy because that sounds...awful.

UHHHH okay sOOO the simplest answer is probably black bc like. it wears a lotta black. military gear etc is usually black? but! its got this stupid orange striped short sleeve shirt thats actually like. a uniform (as in. I referenced the batman 2022 Arkham uniform when I first designed this idiot. yea) so its usually associated with either orange or red (for blood rawrrr)

2: what sort of music would they like? have you thought about what genres or bands do they lean towards? do they have a favorite song?

oh uh!!!!! I dont think this thing listens to music. tbh everything would be better if it did but! it get zero enrichment ever. so instead for this question I get to give you two songs I associate with it for some reason or another. because I said so. and those are House of Wolves (MCR) and Barbie Girl (Aqua). I want to know what you think of it from these two songs together because the combination is sooooo silly to me

19: are they quick to anger? what sets them off?

ooooo this one is fun to think about. mmm I think generally it's not very like,,, externally angry. it is in a perpetual state of something between annoyance and disdain almost all the time (when not Letting Loose), but that's a bit different from angry, I think. things that will make it snap at you: remove mask w/o permission, get touchy w it without permission. probably other things too I forget. things that will make it do super petty things and/or get revenge on you some other way: assume you've got the best of it. assume you're in charge. assume you're in control.

22: do they sleep well at night?

bold of you to assume it sleeps yea well uhh. its a pretty light sleeper I think but it can sleep wherever. no nightmares or w/e its just. rechargin I think

35: do they ever return home?

no. lol. zero percent chance of this thing ever returning home and idk if that ever even existed for it. if it gets a "happy" ending its going to have to claw that into existence itself. and why would it

blue! they wear the most black, again, but thats cause of the goofy suit thing I've got ingame. blue tie blue waistcoat blue accents on the gas mask, so blue's ended up as their color :3

the wrench is their emoji because that's its main weapon. if that says anything. dont think it'd be the best at like. street brawlin no supplies no powers but it can be pretty inventive with the things it knows how to use.

5: how do they typically dress? does their wardrobe lean more towards practicality or aesthetics?

oh it's so stupid <3. suit jacket tie collared shirt waistcoat belt black cargo pants with big ole pockets fingerless gloves combat boots w straps and a belt chain. it's sooo stupid. <3333,,. character creators be like what if all the pieces we let you use were assorted pieces of other characters. OH and dont forget the half gas mask. when I made this guy I referenced one of two Literal Actual Techwear Official Dot Com gas masks. the pockets are practical at least? and thats just one outfit realistically it has other clothing too but idk what though. probably they steal clothing from the rogues lol

22: do they sleep well at night?

depends on where they are! with dork squad probably! unless one or more of them get on an inventing bend or something but it can just wrangle them back to sleep or at least to be quieter. with the sirens that's more of a wild card. depending on if harl's there she's def gonna wanna like stay up n talk or something. tbh though most things happen at night. like heists! :D but they can usually get a good sleep in. and even a lazy morning, probably!

30: do they smell like anything notable?

uhhh probably vaguely like flowers and/or fear toxin. lol. can you tell what I sourced this guy from yet

35: do they ever return home?

it never returns to where it came from, but that place (read: dimension. lol) was never really home. they do find a home, where they end up. and they're happy.

oh man how long has this guy been around? discord chat messages says I made him December 16 of last year. I do not know his birthday. it could just be dec 16 that would be silly. kayfabe though he doesn't really have one hes just Old lol. out of kayfabe hes like chill about bdays I think he'll get ppl close to him a present or whatever. in kayfabe he didnt really get it pre Punishment I dont think but with his whole Chained In A Human Body thing he gets to have a crisis! yay ! over He Is Aging and He Will Die !! again!!!! yipeee!!!

out of kayfabe as long as hes not too sore or w/e he's good. usually conked out from exercising. in kayfabe uhhh he thinks sleeping is weird. his lore says he never eats or sleeps or breathes but now he has to. and he hates it.

30: do they ever return home?

I think he goes to visit his parents sometimes :3 (outside kayfabe.) lol silly answer. in kayfabe nah the place he considers home is long gone and buried by time. and even if it still existed he'd never be able to reach it as he is. sorry

5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

mmm I'm trying to think, usually when I get an idea it overtakes me lol

I talked briefly about a school of rock au but not enough to like, actually plot it out. plus I saw @pressedink has one so I'd really rather just read that <3

11. Do you have specific playlists for writing fics?

I don't, no!

I usually just put on my daylist or will look up a playlist that has a specific ~vibe~ for whatever I'm writing. I'm really bad at making playlists myself tbh

Ahh Soulie!!! Thank you for the asks, my friend!! 💕 I'm also going to put this answer below a cut just because it's SO LONG and I'm sure not everyone wants to scroll through this.

12. Do you prefer writing in silence or to music?

So back when I used to write my two Matt Murdock x OC stories Life Worth Living and Caught in the Undertow at the beginning of the year, I had playlists I listened to while I wrote both of them. Usually the playlists had certain vibes if I was writing something angsty or lighthearted or if it was a tense fight scene with Kilgrave in LWL. I even had some playlists for characters in LWL (Phantom has an entire playlist for anyone who's read that series because I LOVE HER). But for some reason when I write my Reader fics I simply cannot listen to music at the same time. It's far too distracting. I have no idea why. I have playlists for each of the Reader fics that I'll zone out to and think up plot ideas, but it's far too distracting for me to write with music on lately. So I write in silence now, but my thoughts are usually very, very loud as I write.

19. How has your experience as a fanfic reader impacted your experience as a fanfic writer?

Honestly I feel like as I re-entered fanfic over this past year, reading fanfiction has really opened my eyes to taking closer looks at the characters themselves. Back in the day--years ago when younger me first got into fanfic and was reading and writing it--I was focused on the romance aspect of fics, but generally I just wanted the romance. But reading fanfics now as I've come back to it after a few years away and I've grown and matured myself? OMG there's like...so many wonderful in-depth looks at characters that I love that I'd never really thought to look at before. I've become far more interested in more than just writing the romance and the smut now, which is why I think I love FFTD so much. I get to explore not just the romance aspect (and all the crazy smut), but I also get to take look at Matt. I get to put him into different situations and truly try to get a better understanding of his character (in my view of him at least) and how he would navigate a situation and how he would feel. And I think it's given me a better grasp on character development and growth as well as understanding the importance flaws even more--because let's face it, Matty boy is very flawed in some aspects. And that's true of me stepping into writing Michael Kinsella and Frank Castle, too, not just Matt. It's been fun really looking deeper into the characters I'm writing, more than I really ever did before with them. And I think it's made me love those characters that much more.

And also, I will say, reading fanfic smut has also had a huge impact on my writing, oddly enough. I never wrote smut before writing for Matt. I grew up in a super Catholic and conservative household and I'm actually a very, very socially anxious and quiet person. The thought of me writing smut used to make me want to blush and hide under my desk. But seeing all of the smut out there for Matt, even if it's not all necessarily my thing, really helped me become vastly more comfortable with writing it. Writing smut doesn't really affect me anymore, and I feel like it truly came from me seeing so many other talented writers doing it so well and so comfortably.
