Can't believe people are simping over the Elon Bot.

It's trying to hard to be smooth and human shaped but it simply doesn't work. It's torso is is shaped too much like a barrel but they tried to imply a chest through the shape. It's face is using a solid design but the head connect uses some form of fabric which isn't used anywhere else in the design. And it only gets worse once you go below the legs. The thighs and shin go for a taper making the lower legs look way too thin and makes it look top heavy. And the legs don't even move at the hip like a human would, it's legs move like master piece soundwave.

Rather than the legs moving at the hips. They move forward BELOW the hips at the thigh, creating unatural poses for what's trying to be a humanoid robot.

AND WORST OF ALL ARE THE HIPS They're so Skinny and bare. It makes the upper and lower half look like they were designed separately and connected with whatever they could find. Not to mention how important hips are for fuckability. You can't get a good grip on those hips.

Contrast all that against REAL robot designers. It's not trying to be human, it's leaning into robotic stylization. It's got the thin waste and wide hips prime for the grabbing. Look at it's uniform aesthetic. The rounded edges of the design helping the more square parts perfectly blend with the repeated circle motif. And the use of the dark gray to bring attention to the Joints, unashamed of how it moves. Speaking of which all of its joints are where a humans should be, simply with added range of motion for practical purposes

Elon's Optimus is a vain robot who only cares about outward appearances. People only look at the top part of the body so that's all they cared about when designing it. Even then it was hard carried by the suit and bow tie outfit it was put in because the robot design itself sucks.

Boston dynamics is an aesthetically consistent, practical, and frankly more fuckable robot. That's the one you should be wanting to fuck.

A mech is a vehicle patterned after a creature, usually its creators, the human. Regardless of propulsion or control method this is the base requirement. So, a combat mech is one that then fights.

I thus submit that 'How a snail works' by WVW on YouTube demonstrates a snail combat mech.

No, no, we cannot allow the Boston Dynamics robo-dogs to count as 'mechs. The bar has to be higher or we end up with a seriously lame start off to 'mechs. I propose that to be a 'mech, a machine must be piloted from the inside, and possess either a bipedal gait, or opposable thumbs (to allow for our Guntank treaded types). Like, it needs two of the three (pilot, legs, hands) minimum.

Anything less and it's just a novelty tank. Of course, this definition is shaky because it can't meaningfully distinguish between power armor and a 'mech; maybe it should come down to size compared to the pilot. Needs some refining, for sure.
