the most difficult thing about growing as a person socially, as in getting out of your shell and noticing that you are, is that there will still be times when it doesn’t feel like you’ve grown at all! times when you can’t really connect with anyone around you, times when you fail to enter into an existing conversation, times when you say the wrong thing (or nothing at all when in hindsight you probably should’ve). but that’s also kind of the best thing, because that’s the thing that helps you realize that sometimes, it’s not you or your lack of skills or any shortcoming. sometimes certain environments just aren’t for you and certain people aren’t your people, and that’s okay. that’s human. it’s okay to not feel the progress you have made all the time.

Consider for a moment: A slow-burn identity reveal “no one knows” AU with an emphasis on ghosts being taken seriously as an actual, world-changing threat.

Ghosts are treated as an exceedingly dangerous, but unavoidable force of nature. They can come and go without warning, through naturally occurring spontaneous portals. They're territorial, driven only by obsession and hunger for the living. Particularly powerful ghosts are on par with natural disasters.

Life goes on because there's simply no other option. All major buildings have varying levels of ghost shields, some stronger than others. Just about everyone has some form of personal shield, weapon, or general deterrent. For the most part, humanity takes this apocalypse in stride, barely keeping it all together because there's just enough safety to keep them all sane.

Which is why the rumors of Phantom being able to fully mimic a human body incites panic in Amity.

Phantom was already a nightmare as it was–one of the most powerful and intelligent ghosts on record. His territorial fights with other ghosts for haunting (hunting) grounds in Amity have made global news several times already. Powerful ghosts could appear more human–but to think he was transforming down to a cellular level? Hiding among them? Bypassing ghost shields and alarms? Picking them off one by one?

The focus is mostly with Lancer's class, and how the school deals with this new threat on top of everything else. Everyone is a suspect, no one is safe, and Danny Fenton in particular gets slowly more and more exhausted, apathetic, and… unnerving.

The stress, the lack of sleep, the fighting, no one to turn to, not even his best friends or family–it takes a toll on him. Starving himself doesn't help, but he refuses to do more than take small bites from the ambient life energy and emotion of the living around him. Nothing that won't actually do lasting harm. He begins to slip up more and more, which Sam and Tucker begin to notice but haven't quite connected the dots yet.

But, well. What else can Danny do when Pariah Dark comes knocking on Amity’s doorstep, and his whole class is in the line of fire?

man. when the moby dick goes down and everyone's yelling and understandably upset, marco and whitebeard are the ones whose reactions are emphasized, and they don't really have anything to say. u think they watched that ship get built together? way back when marco was just a little kid and he was setting out in the world with his pops and pops said 'this is gonna be our home'... the straw hats' connection to the merry was already so strong after less than a year, they were a family just as much as the whitebeard pirates are, then you take that bond with their home and multiply that by 30+ years. another stepping stone to the new age, but this one really hurts

If you're going to talk about the Vatican's role in queer oppression by using LGBTQIA+ but only ever talk about how it affects lesbians, gays and trans folks, with a small mention of intersex people, but completely omitting the way the institution of marriage, and thus the conception that only a heteronormative family is to be considered "natural", also oppresses and it's violent towards the aspec community, you're actively deciding to erase us. You can't even pledge ignorance, cuz you're using the full fucking acronym. You know the A doesn't stand for Ally. But obviously you can't be considered one for us.

the way Cassian was concerned about Bix didn't feel like "I'm worried about this person because I love them" vibes. it was lowkey patronizing imo. he also clearly doesn't see her as an equal. not sure what I'm meant to take away from their relationship, but I don't like how he treats her at all, and it also doesn't feel in line with his characterization. there's a difference between worry/concern and over-protectiveness, and he crosses into over-protectiveness ten times over. I always really hated to see that characterization for him in fics because it never felt true to him, and to see it now in canon... idk man, I just hate it. all this may be by design, but even so, I don't like the implications of it for Cassian's character - once again.

was thinking about it this morning as i was making tea and i think there's a fundamental gap in the advice we give to writers/creators to "first and foremost create for ourselves", bc yes. in the beginning, i am almost always writing for myself. i write all the time, and im sure that artists doodle and paint all the time too. there are things i've written that will never see the light of day and are truly just for me.

and then there are things that i choose to share, because i want to share them. because i'm proud of a story, and want to put it into the world. the act of sharing it is, above all, an invitation.

its me inviting you into a corner of my mind/heart/soul, opening the window and throwing open the curtains and waving, holding up a sign that says "hi! do you like this too? let's talk about it!"

what im asking for is a connection, a conversation. a shared space. digital or otherwise. and the so-called "harm" of "ghost consumption" is not that artists will stop creating art or that writers will stop writing -- no, that's not quite how creativity works (thankfully, and sometimes unfortunately). we will always create.

we just might not be inspired to share it anymore.

Both of these would've been products of early Xiaolin as the series was getting developed. Which would explain why Raimundo doesn't return to any family members when he goes back to Brazil in the season 1 finale Heck, he states Rio to be where he lives, but Season 2 places Tubarão as his home town

and then in Omi Town is his first mention of family

"With eight brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles coming out the wazoo, I scored big time!"
