Motherhood is complicated.

It could turn your life upside down.

At times, it is over-hyped.

The tangled stripes on my stomach

have so many stories weaved in them

that no-one will ever know of.

The heroism in them could never be celebrated enough.

So here’s to mothers

who are fighting stifled battles

through sleepless nights and worrisome days.

I am not here to tell you, you should cheer up,

I wanted to ask, if you have read and researched ramayana as well or know anything about it, well in your opinion what is similar about rama and krishna? Their names have been taken together throughout ages, but I want to ask how similar/different are they?

First off, I will admit, Ramayana is not my expertise (neither is MB, really, but in comparison 😅), so I can only say from my limited reading of it...whatever I say next I might change my opinion on once I've had the time to read the og text for myself.

Similarities:

They are both quite the most important people of their own times, the two yuga-purushas/yuga-avataaras/nara-chandramas, thanks to their own achievements as well as their respective poets who immortalized their stories and reputation.

Again, both their stories are primarily written by Bhargava brahmin: Valmiki is a son/descendant of Bhrigu's son Chyavana, and in MB 90% of the 'interpolations' are attributed to unnamed Bhargava brahmins. A similar deification is there hence for Bhargava Parashurama as well.

Dissimilarities:

I won't say much here, since I do value my peace of mind within the online space, but Krishna was a more well-adjusted person when compared with Rama.

I'll take a little risk and just come out and say it, Rama had daddy issues (again, I will read the og text, and let you know if my assessment changes), his life's primary goal remains to be as different as he can from Dasharatha, and he freaking hates Kaikeyi.

Krishna, on the other hand, is more confident in himself, and is very, very dedicated to his family, even to the members that he cannot stand.

There are many others, you could probably do an age-by-age comparison, but I am going to leave that for better experts.

Honestly, Valmiki, Vyasa, they would be public enemy number one if he were to write their stories today!
