Miguel O’Hara: A comprehensive reading guide

I honestly don’t know if this has been done yet, and considering that there are multiple different main canons for Miguel, it’s even more confusing on where to start.
To clarify, there is 3 different “Mainstream” universes for Miguel. Earth 928 (The main universe for most Miguel media), Earth-2099, and Earth-6375 (The universe where he’s part of the exiles)
I’m gonna be starting with
Earth-928
(Note: I’ll try to put these in order as much as possible, but due to retcons and other things like Spiderverse it may not be 100% accurate)
Important reads are in bold
-Amazing Spider-Man #365 (Not really important, it’s just a preview of the first issue, but it’s counted as Miguel’s very first appearance so.)
-Spiderman 2099 vol 1 #1-10 (VERY important reads, they set up the universe and Miguel’s origin story)
-2099 unlimited #1-3 (Not really important to the lore, but they’re silly little stories that I have to mention them)
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 1 #11-15
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 1 #16, Ravage 2099 #15, X-men 2099 #5, Doom 2099 #14, Punisher 2099 #13 (VERY important reads, highlights the fall of the hammer arc and shows Miguel’s relationships with other 2099 characters, especially Jake Gallows. Read in the exact order listed)
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 1 #17-22
-2099 unlimited #8
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 1 #23-34
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 1 annual
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 1 #35-38 (Venom 2099 arc, important read as it introduces Kron Stone properly)
-Spider-Man 2099 special
-Spider-Man 2099 meets Spider-Man (First introduction of Miguel to Peter)
-2099 unlimited 9-10
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 1 #39-43
-Symbiote Spider-Man 2099 #1-5
The following issues have been mostly retconned and are no longer canon. I’m listing them still for sake of continuity (Plus they’re interesting) but they are NOT canon to E-928
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 1 #44-46
-2099: World of tomorrow #1-8
-2099: Manifest Destiny
End of retconned comics
-Captain Marvel vol 4 #27-30
-Superior Spider-Man #17-19
-Amazing Spider-Man vol 3 #1
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 2 #1-12
Note during this time is the Spiderverse event and Miguel is featured in multiple comics that tie into it. I will not be listing them all due to time, plus he was mostly featured in his own comic for it anyways
-Secret wars 2099 #1-5
-Amazing Spider-Man vol 4 #1
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 3 #1-10
-Spiderman 2099 vol 3 #11-16 (I list them separately because this takes place during Civil War 2 and that also has a lot of tie in comics that I will not be listing due to time. But yeah. That’s a thing)
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 3 #17-25
-Amazing Spider-Man vol 5 #32-36
Earth 2099
-2099 Alpha
-Spider-Man 2099 vol 4
-2099 Omega (This and vol 4 are E-2099 Miguel’s origin story. I’m not personally a fan of the writing but it is essential to read if you want to understand the universe)
-Spider-Man 2099 Exodus Alpha, #1-5, and Omega
-Spider-Man 2099 Dark Genesis #1-5
-Miguel O’Hara, Spider-Man 2099 #1-5 (The best series we’ve gotten so far of this earth, not really important to the Miguel lore. I just like it lol)
Earth-6375
Note that this is optional to read and I’ve heard some very mixed opinions about how Miguel is written here. If you want to read it, be my guest.
-Exiles #72
-Exiles #75-99
-Exiles annual 1
Honorable mention: Timesplitters 2009-2099 #1-4, Spider-Man, and X Men.
These technically take place in a separate continuity to all 3, but they are important enough that I listed them anyways.
Honorable mention 2: Edge of Spiderverse vol 2
Idk what continuity it takes place in. it is currently ongoing.
Other non comic media
The following is a list of media that Miguel is featured in extensively (Not counting all the mobile games because I mean those are just gacha games and aren’t important to the Miguel lore)
-Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse and Spider-Man across the Spiderverse
-Ultimate Spider-Man S3EP9 and 12
-Spider-Man Edge of time (Personal favorite adaptation of Miguel in media)
-Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions
-Araña and Spiderman 2099: Dark Tomorrow (Not confirmed but likely takes place in E-928 5 years after series ends)
And that’s about it! If there’s any appearances I missed, please don’t hesitate to say something and I’ll fix it as soon as possible.
#miguel ohara#miguel o'hara#spider man 2099#spiderman 2099#marvel comics#why yes I spent way too much time on this.

Bucky Barnes Aka The Winter Soldier.

This reading guide is going to be split up in several parts depending on what alias he was using at the time
Comic Geeks Community List + Optional Reads
Timely Comics
Timely Comics was the original name a lot of Bucky's first comics were published under when most of the original comics came out. These have mostly been retconned out However they are canon in the way that they are comics in universe. I call this Pre-Timely Retcon
During this time Bucky was around 12-16 years old and he was going by "Bucky."
Please be aware that these comics have a lot of racist, sexist and overall derogatory approach to people who aren't cis white straight men.
Captain America Vol 1 (At least the first issue)
Young Allies Vol 1 (This comic contains heavy use of black face to represent an African American character)
The Invaders Vol 1
The Avengers #56
Marvels #1
Personally I don't think you absolutely have to read these, but I recommend the ones in bold .
Bucky
Post-Timely Retcon, the Timely comics are now comics in canon. What age Bucky is depends on what comic you read. He's between 12-16 when he meets Steve and 16-20 when he dies. It depends on the writer.
Captain America 65th Anniversary Special #1
Avengers/Invaders*
Young Allies Comics 70th Anniversary Special **
Wolverine Origins #17, 18, 19, 20,
Captain America: Man Out of Time
Captain America & Bucky #620-#628***
Captain America White
*This comic is very weird in its treatment of Jewish characters, they give Robots serial numbers on their wrist to get Jim Hammond upset and equate that to the treatment of Jewish people in the holocaust
** This comic contains heavy use of black face to represent an African American character
*** this comic shows depictions of a concentration camp
Winter Soldier
Winter Soldier: The Bitter March
Captain America Vol 5 ( #1-#33 )
Winter Soldier : Winter Kills
Wolverine (2003) #38-#40
Wolverine Origins #15, 16, 23, 25
-Read Captain America section here if you want to be chronological
Winter Soldier (2012)
All-New Invaders
Black Widow (2014)
Winter Soldier (2018)
Invaders (2019)
Captain America
Captain America Vol 5 (#34 - #617) *
Captain America: Forever Allies**
Avengers/Invaders
Invaders Now!
Fear Itself
* This comic has Sam Wilson hatecrimed in order for Bucky to infiltrate the enemy group. This comic also is technically #63 however the number order changed to the 600s
** This comic contains heavy use of black face to represent an African American character
Revolution
Devil’s Reign: Winter Soldier
Captain America : Sentinel of Liberty
Hopefully this helps anyone looking into reading Bucky! I love him he's one of my favourites. Some of the comics may overlap being good reading for him as Bucky/Winter Soldier/Cap but I've tried to make it easy to get into!
Here are a list of other comics that I don't think are important but could help with further reading:
The Marvels Project - Good to lean about the Golden age heroes!
Tales of Suspense (2017) - Personally I don't like this one but for WinterHawk shippers this is the main one!
The Unstoppable Wasp - it’s cute!
Strikeforce - It's fun!
Young Avengers Presents: Patriot - Important Bucky interacting with younger heroes moments, especially Elijah Bradley

Day 20~ 1:34 P.M.

Warnings: None, Readers under 18 can read this book.
Copyright: My OCs are Coach Yonce, Emma, Ila, Tempus, and Itty Bitty. I own these characters. I do not condone any copying of this.
For the most part, I had recovered from everything. The doctors had to re-break my knee though to set it properly. I was glad I was out for that. They cleaned all of my wounds and re-dressed them. They said we could look into getting a prosthetic for my pinky finger. I said I'd think about it.
It felt selfish to get a pinky finger prosthetic though when there were men and women coming in from war with blown off limbs and having to deal with that. If anyone need a prosthetic, it was them. I'd deal with a missing finger.
My parents managed to come and see me earlier today around nine in the morning. They didn't wake me up, so I didn't really see them until more around ten. Both my mother and my father were crying, though my brothers were slightly in the corner playing video games on their phones. They got off once they realized I was awake.
"Hey sweetheart." My mom said, tears streaming down her face. My mother was a very ugly crier, but right now she was the most beautiful sight in the world.
"Hi mom." I said, tears streaming down my own face. My mother and father peppered me with kisses, before they laid the presents they'd brought me down on the bedside table.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 in DVD form since I'd missed the movie version. My brothers had bought extra Funko Pops so I didn't just have Dr. Strange and Iron man now. There was also Loki, Thor, Gamora, Starlord, Bucky Barnes, Captain America, and Hawkeye.
My stomach flipped unpleasantly upon seeing them. They had been there.
I said nothing though, except thanking them with what I hoped was the proper enthusiasm. I'd probably sell them on Amazon later. I could probably make a lot of money off of them. Maybe I could make even more if I signed the boxes. I had to be somewhat famous, right?
I questioned after Itty, Jaguar, and Otter's health. They were all fine, with their families back in California. My mother told me that different Marvel actors had been hosting them. Apparently my own family was staying with Chris Evans. Itty Bitty's family was staying with Benedict Cumberbatch, Emma was waiting for her parents to fly in from England with Chris Hemsworth, and Otter and her family were with Tom Hiddleston.
I did ask if they had seen Sebastian Stan. They didn't know anything that had passed between the two of us except that he had been there.
"He's been really torn up over you for some reason." My brother said in a bored voice. "I mean, he doesn't say anything, but whenever mom and dad left the room or whatever he was always asking Chris Evans or Robert Downey Jr. if you'd been found."
"Yeah, mom think she fancies you." My other brother joked.
I coloured a little, wondering at that statement.
"Mr. Downey has been amazing." My mother gushed. "He's been providing for all of the lawyers and everything. Well, helping get lawyers I should say. That Real Estate agent? Donald Trump? He had some good lawyers to help us out with suing the Russo brothers and the others that were involved."
"So. . . none of the Marvel actors knew what was going on?" I asked slowly, not entirely sure what I wanted the outcome to be.
"No." My mother said with a shake of the head. "In fact, one of the actors, the one that played Doctor List, he was killed to prevent him from spreading to the word. Apparently Mr. Stan told him what was happening and tried to get word out."
So Sebastian really had tried to get the word out? And the first doctor had been an actor?
"Miss Y/L/N, there are some people here to see you." A nurse said, coming into the room a few hours later.
"We'll leave you with them then." My mother said, kissing my forehead out and ushering my brothers out of the room.
Figuring it would be Itty or Otter or Emma or all of them, I attempted to prop myself up against the headboard.
"I don't think you should be sitting up yet." A familiar voice said and I froze.
"Sebastian." I whispered.
"Hey." He said softly, taking a seat next to the bed.
He was dressed nicely, his long pulled back into the man bun I loved. He seemed almost nervous and I guess I couldn't blame him. The last time I'd seen him, I'd killed someone and pointed a gun at his face.
"Er- I'm not alone." He muttered, gesturing behind him.
I looked up to see Robert Downey Jr., Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, and Chris Evans there.
"Oh, er, hi." I said awkwardly, blushing. I had the hugest crush on Dr. Strange so this was kind've weird.
"Nice to finally meet you." Robert Downey Jr. said, holding his hand out as though I was the famous person. "Glad you're here as well. Stan over here has been a mess without you."
"Shut it Robert." Sebastian growled.
I smiled a little as I shook Downey's hand.
"Marvel fan?" Chris asked with a bit of a smile, gesturing to all the Funko Pops.
My face burned again, "Of sorts. I haven't seen any of the Captain America movies though. Er- I like Dr. Strange and Tony Stark."
Benedict smiled, shaking my hand as well. Tom grinned, laughing a little. Downey didn't seemed phased. "Of course I was your favorite."
"Well actually, Strange, then you, then Loki." I smiled. "But you know. But um, why are you all here?"
"Someone had to take care of Sebastian." Downey said, causing Sebastian's ears to go red. "And we're also the ones most invested in the case."
I nodded my head but couldn't really think of anything else to say. Luckily, Downey clapped his hands together once and said, "Well, we'll take these Funko pops out to sign them and leave you and Sebastian alone."
"Er- do you want them signed?" Chris asked, but as Robert was already carrying them out of the room, I cracked a smile. Robert was so cool.
"I, um, I'm sorry for pointing a gun at your face. I was terrified, I thought you were in on everything, that you had just been playing me." I murmured, looking away from him.
"I don't blame you." Sebastian was quiet. "It had to be confusing for you. I can't even imagine with everything you'd gone through what you were thinking."
There was a moment of silence before he said. "It was real for me too."
I lifted my eyes to his for a moment and he seemed serious enough. "All of it Y/N. The bad and the good. It was all real to me."
I hesitated, saying nothing. I wasn't entirely sure what he was trying to say.
Sebastian gently reached out and took both my hands into his. "It was real to me. I love you Y/N. Maybe on this facet you weren't entirely certain, but this is how I feel. Maybe you still don't want to see me ever again. Maybe you'd prefer to go without the spotlight being with me would put you in. But I want to be with you."
I could barely breathe. It was like something straight out of a book. Sebastian Stan, famous actor, wanted to be with silly old me?
"A-are you sure?" I asked breathlessly.
"Yes. I mean, I know I'm going to have to go through some therapy and shit before I'm fit to take perfect care of you. But I want to work through things with you, if you want to." He asked breathlessly.
I laughed a little, "Yeah, they're sending us to some sort of therapy treatment center. Me, Itty, Otter, and Emma. Apparently we have to live there and finish some sort of program and then we're free to leave if we pass at the end. But once I get out, if you still want to come and find me, I would like to be with you too."
Sebastian grinned and before I knew it, we'd both leaned into each other, our lips connected in a passionate kiss.
"I'll always find you Y/N. And if I can't, I'll never stop searching for you. That's a promise." Sebastian whispered against my cheek.
"Thank you for taking care of me in there Sebastian." I whispered, holding tightly on his hand. "I wouldn't have survived without you."
Sebastian squeezed my hand and stayed with me until I fell asleep once more.

MCU Villains Till Now Ranked from Weakest to Strongest
From Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor to Inter Galactic Forces – Guardians of the Galaxy, there are a number of mighty heroes in the MCU and also some great MCU Villains. However, it’s rarely one of them to save the day, it’s because they simply come up against a collection of equally powerful villains.
The success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe not only relies on the great superheroes but also on the memorable MCU Villains. In the year 2022, we saw some remarkably stronger MCU Villains in MCU Phase 4 like Gorr the God Butcher, Namor, and Scarlet Witch.
But while some of them may be more entertaining than others, there can only be one villain who is deemed the most powerful of them all.

Into the Anthill pt 34 - The Justice League
Who doesn’t love a crossover? This event starts with both the Avengers and Justice League competing to grab rare items like the Infinity Gauntlet and Cosmic Cube. With that out of the way, they work together to deal with the guy trying to break both universes apart for science. Hank got a few stand-out scenes in the big splash pages and helped build the ship they used to get to Krona, but Marvel’s key players here were Cap, Wanda, and Vision.
They sure packed a lot of fanservice into these four issues.
🐜🐜🐜
Avengers/JLA vol 1 #1-4
The Avengers found themselves facing a threat from not just another world, but another multiverse entirely: Starro, the deadly mind-controlling starfish. With new threats arising across the galaxy, the Avengers attempted to stop a costumed group from taking the Ultimate Nullifier and failed. As the alien intelligence Metron would soon reveal, this group was the Justice League and the Nullifier was one of 6 artifacts that they needed to claim to doom this universe. The Atom, who the JLA had sent as a spy, was shocked to hear this because the Grandmaster had given them a similar speech and labeled the Avengers as the offending party. Metron offered them a Mother Box to use to travel to the other Earth and departed.
The Avengers were shocked to arrive in a world that idolized and worshiped their heroes, erecting statues and museums to them in a way that Captain America assumed must have been demanded of them. Now face to face, the teams came to blows. Cap and Batman, who had ducked aside to fight each other, agreed to a truce due to their shared suspicion that they were being used as pawns in a greater game. As the rest of their teams split up to gather the artifacts the two of them struck out on their own to find a solution from the shadows.
They learned that Krona, a multiversal seeker of knowledge, sought Galctus’s wisdom from before the Big Bang and would destroy the universe to obtain it. Grandmaster challenged him to a game to keep him away and the terms of it required them to each play using the other’s heroes as their game pieces. Finally understanding the game’s stakes, Cap and Batman tipped the competition in the JLA’s favor to keep Galactus out of Krona’s hands. Unfortunately, with the artifacts now under Grandmaster’s control, he used their powers in tandem to rewrite the history of both universes into one the heroes would never want to leave.
In this new timeline, the Avengers and Justice League had been working together across universes for years and met regularly for team-ups and parties. As Superman and Captain America realized that this was a ruse, the boundaries between worlds began to shatter. The Phantom Stranger led them to Grandmaster, who revealed that Krona had overpowered him and manipulated the new overlapping realities into colliding, leading to the destruction of both if they continued. Before he died, Grandmaster showed them the tragedies they would face in their own timelines if they chose to separate the worlds. They agreed that it had to be done.
Superman suggested that the teams unite under Cap’s leadership. With their resources combined, they confronted Krona in his stronghold built from Galactus’s corpse. Krona summoned every villain he could from both worlds to hinder them, along with the temporal shifts constantly changing their uniforms and roster, but the heroes pressed on. Supercharged by Vision’s solar energy, Superman wielded Mjolnir and Cap’s shield and broke through Krona’s final barrier so Hawkeye and Flash could free the artifacts. Without the power under his control, The Spectre was able to separate the worlds and restore them to their previous state.

The Order vol 1 #2-3, 5-6
Thor: Godstorm vol 1 #1
Marvel Universe: The End vol 1 #1, 4-6

The gay Invaders
Hi, internet! Today I'd like to talk about one of the chronologically-first canonically-gay couples in Marvel Comics history: Brian Falsworth (the second Union Jack) and Roger Aubrey (The Destroyer). (I mean "chronological" in terms of in-universe timeline rather than RL publication date; I'm pretty sure Northstar is still the first to publication as far as unambiguously-gay Marvel heroes go.)
If you are a fan of reading or writing about Captain America being queer, you should care about Brian and Roger, because they were two of Steve's fellow Invaders in the 1940s, meaning that they are two of the people on the list of Steve's Old Gay Friends And Teammates, because, yeah, Steve sure had a lot of canonically gay friends during the war. Probably more than you'd think he would have had in the forties! (The other two are Percival Pinkerton, who's part of Nick Fury's Howling Commandos, and of course Steve's childhood friend Arnie Roth. Pinky is gay by word of Stan Lee, IIRC; Arnie was as canonically gay as DeMatteis could make him in the early 1980s, so they didn't say the word "gay" but it's really, really not subtle. Steve compares what Arnie feels for his "roommate" Michael to what Steve feels for his girlfriend Bernie. Yeah.)
I previously made a Tumblr post about Brian and Roger, rounding up some of the canonical evidence of their relationship, but that post is six years old now, and in the intervening years, Marvel has thoughtfully put the rest of the 70s Invaders run on Unlimited as well as the two Citizen V miniseries that star Roger and retcon his relationship with Brian as romantic. So I've read them now, and I've got panels.
Okay. I should probably begin by saying that Brian and Roger are not canonically gay in their first significant appearance together, which is in Invaders vol 1 #19 and #20, published in 1977. Roy Thomas does not seem to have intended them to be a couple, and they aren't canonically one in any of the original Invaders run. However, if you enjoy gay subtext, it's very nice.
This whole arc is the one that introduces Roger in modern canon. He's been brainwashed by the Nazis and the Invaders rescue him and get him back to his normal self. But in #19 we get his backstory in flashback, as related by Montgomery, Lord Falsworth (Brian's father; yes, MCU fans, the name should look familiar) and it turns out that Roger and Brian were basically best friends since childhood:

They were the dearest of friends!
Anyway, they both ended up captured by Nazis, they presumably changed their minds about appeasement as a policy, Brian got out and joined the Invaders, then they had to rescue the brainwashed Roger, and it's a fair amount of fun in a two-issue arc.
The subtext is even more prominent in Invaders #34, in which they find out that someone going by the Destroyer (which is Roger's codename) has been doing villainous deeds, and the Invaders worry that Roger's gotten himself brainwashed again. Brian immediately insists that it can't really be Roger because he knows Roger and Roger Would Never:

Unsurprisingly, Brian is right. It's not really Roger; Master Man is impersonating the Destroyer, and the villains have taken Roger captive, and the Invaders break him out and there is an extremely significant moment where it just so happens that Roger has to catch Brian, saving his life for a change, and they stare deeply into each other's eyes and Brian seems to be having difficulty finishing his sentences:

Some people who read this therefore concluded that Brian and Roger were extremely gay for each other. While ordinarily this sort of shipping is mostly confined to fandom, in this particular instance, one of the people who started shipping Brian/Roger was Fabian Nicieza, and Fabian Nicieza, as you probably know, writes comics for Marvel. I think you see where this is going.
However, first I must inform you that, sadly, Brian has been canonically dead for years. Captain America vol 1 #253-254 -- the two-parter about Baron Blood in the Stern/Byrne Cap run in the 80s -- establishes that Brian died in a car accident in 1953. (This is also the run where Joseph Chapman -- a friend of Jacqueline Falsworth's son Kenneth -- becomes the third (and current) Union Jack.)
(Roger then appears in a bunch of T-Bolts issues; I assume there's nothing interesting there on the gay front because I feel like someone would have told me. I should probably read more than three T-Bolts issues someday.)
So, anyway, in 2001, Fabian Nicieza wrote a miniseries called Citizen V and the V-Battalion. Roger, who is still superheroing as the Destroyer despite being pretty old by this point, is part of the titular V-Battalion, and he has a very prominent role in this miniseries. And in #1, we have the usual splash page of character backstory, and there's a very, um, interesting line there:

Regarding Brian and Roger's relationship, the narration informs us: "It sounds much gayer than it probably was."
This is interesting, obviously for a couple of reasons. One is that, up to this point in canon, as far as I can tell, literally nobody thought any of this sounded the slightest bit gay at all. (Other than, I guess, Fabian Nicieza.) The other reason is that, as we soon find out, it actually was as gay as it sounds. Thanks, Fabian!
In 2002, Nicieza wrote a second miniseries, Citizen V and the V-Battalion: The Everlasting. Issue #1 opens with a flashback set in 1953; specifically, we see Brian's funeral:

Roger is extremely sad, and when Lord Falsworth expresses his sympathy about the death of Roger's "friend" and saying that he knows how much this hurts him, Roger mutters under his breath that he doesn't have the slightest clue:

All is revealed on the next page, when one of the other characters tries to ask Roger about superhero business and Roger snaps at him because, as he says, "I just watched my friend die in my arms."
Except "friend" isn't the word he starts to say:

Yep. That would be "lover." So Roger nearly outs himself. So, yes, now it's absolutely canon. Hooray.
Later on in the issue, which is set in the present day, we have a couple pages of Roger staring at pictures of the two of them and continuing to be sad:

Yeah. They were a couple.
So the question you -- being a Captain America fan -- might ask yourself is, okay, did/does Steve know about any of this? (The reason I started looking all this up was because I wanted to know if Steve knew.) I don't know if we have a panel of Roger specifically admitting any of this to Steve (and if we do, I would like to know about it), but I would be comfortable saying that Steve probably knew back then -- because, well, he seems like the kind of guy who would actually have been fine with it in the 40s, what with all his gay friends -- and also that I can't think of a reason why he wouldn't know now. Because he's definitely worked with Roger again in fairly recent comics, and also Roger is very much out, these days.
In fact, New Invaders #4 (2004) opens with Roger attending Pride:

So, yeah, he's out.
(Then he has to fight, as far as I can tell, homophobic Nazi vampires. They're yelling slurs in German. Great.)
In All-New Invaders #10, which is from 2014 (and which is not the same series as New Invaders), Roger shows up to help out the Invaders, and in passing, he just happens to mention to another character (Joseph Chapman, the current Union Jack), that he is in fact gay:

He and Joseph don't really like each other much; as far as I can tell, their acquaintance in New Invaders consists of Joseph being vaguely homophobic and Roger being bitter about him being Union Jack because he actually wanted to be Union Jack himself to honor Brian's memory -- you know, that thing superheroes sometimes like to do to honor their dead superhero significant others, viz. Hank when Jan was dead after Secret Invasion -- and now Union Jack is this annoying kid and not, y'know, the love of his life. This exchange from New Invaders #4 seems pretty representative of their relationship:

Anyway, yeah, he's pretty obviously out.
Steve isn't actually present for this conversation in All-New Invaders, but he mentions in a later issue of this run that he knows what Roger and his pals have been up to, plot-wise, so I feel comfortable assuming that he's talked to Roger at some point in the previous ten years or so, and therefore, since Roger is completely out at this point in canon, there's no reason Steve shouldn't know now.
On an unrelated note, it's also a fun issue if you're a Steve/Tony fan because this is clearly running in parallel with Hickman's Avengers run, which means that he spends half a page telling Namor that he's mad at him and the rest of the Illuminati (but mostly mad at Tony because... he's just obsessed with Tony in this run, I guess?) about the mindwipe:

This is the sum total of my knowledge about Brian and Roger. No, wait, I know one more thing, which is that Brian was a character in the late, lamented mobile game Avengers Academy, in which he was also actually gay; Roger does not seem to have been there. There's a CBR article that you can read about the whole thing, which mentions some of these details from the comics in passing. (I have no idea why it says that their relationship was alluded to in the Stern/Byrne run; unless I missed something big, the only thing those issues do is establish Brian's death. As far as I can tell, no one is gay in them.)
So, yeah, that's Brian Falsworth and Roger Aubrey, the two gay Invaders. Steve sure has a lot of gay friends.
