I saw this article and thought âare we going through the next Satanic Panic?â Then I read the garbage article and realized how misleading the headline was. Iâm not even sure what it had to do with witchcraft. They take about abuse due to Christian exorcisms and FGM and neither of those are related to witchcraft. The headline makes it seem like witches are doing the abuse.
I get it, when we live in times of rising fascism and there are literally people in some countries being accused of and killed because of suspected witchcraft, but this has nothing to do with that.

Surrogacy is risky for children. This allows pedophiles acess to children without the same vetting process as fostering or adoption.
No background checks. No post placement visitation. Children suffer the consequences.

if you want to have a moral objection to IVF or surrogacy, please donât bring foster kids into it. Most of you have no idea what youâre talking about. Foster care is not system designed to provide infertile adults with free children.
This information is based on the U.S but i was in foster care for a significant portion of my childhood. I was never once placed in a foster home. Thatâs not because there was a lack of caring families who wanted to give me a loving home. There are two reasons but the primary is that the ultimate goal is to reunite the children with their birth family as fast as possible. Some kids may get temporary placement in a foster home, if theyâre young, but the state will exhaust every measure necessary to ensure theyâre taken out of the system. If parents arenât an option, they will go down the list of blood relatives until someone agrees. Reunification often occurs within the year.
For kids that canât be placed back with their family (like I was) thereâs still a high chance theyâre ineligible for placement. Children with abuse backgrounds, trauma, or above a certain age (often 10) are considered unadoptable. The likelihood that they will be returned is too high so they are never put on the list for placement. Not that people refuse to take them in, but that the state wonât even let them try. Theyâre automatically moved into a group home, a residential treatment program, or transitional living classes to help them get their own apartment. This category encompasses the majority of foster kids. You will never know they exist and you do not have the opportunity to foster them.
Perfect children who are young enough that they canât remember the reason they were placed into care and donât have any viable family are so desirable that theyâre often adopted before ever being fostered. Couples want them so bad that there have been instances of children in other countries being trafficked out of loving homes to fulfill this need. Those perfect circumstance kids are few and the demand for them is high. It requires inordinate wealth to ever get that opportunity.
Anyways. Donât weaponize statistics you donât fully understand. It is not an easy as âjust pluck one unloved child out of foster care.â Theyâre not free for the taking.

Iâm walking through the security cordon that leads into Kadhimiyah, one of Shia Islamâs holiest sites. Iâm in a queue, along with dozens of pilgrims who have come from all over the world to pay their respects to the shrine of Imam Kadhim. At the gate, a female security guard pats me down and looks into my handbag, a reminder that the story Iâm reporting on here isnât going to be easy.
As I walk around the market stalls surrounding the shrine, I notice the many âmarriage officesâ dotted around the mosque, which are licensed to perform Sharia marriages. Iâd received tips that some clerics here were performing short-term mutaa [pleasure] marriages, a practice â illegal under Iraqi law â whereby a men can pay for a temporary wife, with the officiating cleric receiving a cut.
I was told that behind closed doors many of these clerics were using and abusing Sharia marriage laws to exploit women for profit. These men were grooming vulnerable girls and young women, trapping them into prostitution and pimping them out, all with seemingly total impunity.
For such a story, we needed to secure evidence on camera. We recruited a male undercover reporter who, over the course of our year-long investigation, met and secretly filmed several of the clerics running the Sharia marriage offices in the vicinity of the shrines. Meanwhile, I met and interviewed the clericsâ female victims, as well as some of the male clients who routinely used pleasure marriages.
In case itâs not clear, women are punished severely by society, heir families and sometimes the law if they have sex outside of marriage, including torture and death. And yet people still conspire to force women and children into sham temporary âmarriagesâ for the purpose of using them sexually and then dumping them, regardless of the consequences for the victim.

The foster care system and CPS is corrupt for many reasons, but one reason we will never get over is how they strip away the rights of caregivers who are poor or disabled.
Instead of the government offering poor caregivers and disabled caregivers financial and medical aid, they instead strip the children away, causing unnecessary trauma for the children and caregivers alike, and destroying families.
Imagine that. Imagine being a good caregiver, never abusive, working your damndest despite your financial or medical complications, and the government says "actually you can't properly care for your kids, so instead of giving you what you need in order to do so, we're going to give these other (likely abusive) people money to take care of your kids instead."
All of this just to uphold capitalism and ableism.

Child Protection urged as the Multinational Security Support Mission deploys to Haiti

As the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission, led by the Kenyan police, began to deploy to Haiti last month, Amnesty International reiterated the urgent need to ensure the mission establishes safeguards to prevent human rights violations, provides child protection training to its personnel, and commits to operating with the highest standards of transparency, as previously recommended by the organization in a public statement issued on 3 June 2024.
âIt is truly concerning that the deployment of the Kenyan police contingent to Haiti is going forward, without transparent information regarding whether or how it has implemented human rights safeguards,â said Ana Piquer, Americas Director at Amnesty International.
Among these protections is the need to ensure the MSS is prepared to encounter children during its operations, including children who have been recruited by gangs. Last week the UN Secretary-General reported on Haiti for the first time in his Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict, revealing the UN had verified 383 grave violations committed against children in Haiti last year. They included recruitment and use, killing and maiming, and sexual violence predominantly by criminal gangs engaged in widespread violence and clashes with authorities.
âKenya and Haiti have a shared responsibility, as do their allies like the United States, among others, to stop overlooking the suffering of thousands of Haitian children. Introducing foreign troops into Haiti without proper human rights training, use of force protocols and accountability mechanisms, further endangers the population, particularly children, who endure the daily onslaught of violenceâ, said Ana Piquer, Americas Director at Amnesty International.

We protect...
This frame is from the Japanese comics named âOshi no koâ meaning âMy starâ I snipped this frame from the manga because the meaning of the words struck me. This part was about Aqua(the boy from the frame) is trying to protect his friend from the abusive production of a series. It is said here that his friend should take a rest and the team should approve. The he said these lines âWhat good are adults... if they donât protect the kidsâ I am amazed that the quote itself is capable to more than one topic. The topic may be about showbiz but the other face of it shows the protection of children against abusive adults.

Look, thereâs plenty of great, caring people who are child protection workers but letâs get this straight. Child protection workers are not necessarily so much more skilled and compassionate than mental health workers. Plenty of Mental health workers are just as skilled and compassionate as child protection workers.
Mental health workers save lives and help people who are suicidal and self harming. Mental health workers risk being victims of violence in their line of work. So take that and smoke it in your pipe, movies that portray mental health workers as useless.
As for the movies that say mental health therapy is useless, no it isnât. Dialectical behaviour therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing counselling are evidence based and proven through academic journals and research to save lives, help people with personality disorders cut back on attempting suicide and self harm, and reduce addictions to gambling, drugs and alcohol.

The silent majority has had enough! We are Brothers and Sisters in Humanity, coming together for the common goal of protecting our children against premature sexualization and potentially harmful indoctrination.
Uniting diverse backgrounds and faiths, we share a resolute purpose: advocating for the elimination of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) curriculum, pronouns, gender ideology and mixed bathrooms in schools.
As a symbol of our commitment, students are encouraged to participate in a nationwide school walkout on that day.
Additionally, major cities across the nation will host march events.
Together, we stand united to safeguard the well-being and innocence of our children.

Today I found out the US is the only UN member country who has not ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
This is, in part, because the US is violating it And, in part, because it is difficult to ratify with our countryâs constitution, as it requires 2/3 majority in the Senate. That means MORE THAN 1/3 of the Senate does not support Childrenâs Rights as agreed upon by the UN.
Again, the US is THE ONLY country. Itâs been over 30 years since the US signed it, but no ratification.
It makes me wonder what other International Treaties we havenât signed.

there is no other feeling in the world than when a child asks you to work with them more. My manager just called me to say this child asked me first before anyone else to work with him tonight. I am swamped with tasks though. Bless his heart. I will cherish this feeling while it lasts. Iâm understanding more that my gentle side & relaxed side with kids has a true strength to it.
