I saw your addition on the melting metal post, i was wondering how A/C electricity works, and how the energy transfers, is it like a newton’s cradle?
The short answer is that power is transferred in an AC circuit not by redistributing electrons from point A to point B, but by the electromagnetic fields produced by the movement of electrons in general. An electron moving back and forth still produces those fields due to its motion, even if "on average" it doesn't go anywhere.
To be a little more precise, current is defined as the charge crossing through a cross-sectional area per second. If an electron moves forward and backwards through that cross section, there is charge flowing through it, and so there are electronic fields being produced that a device can harness to do things. Many devices (for instance, an incandescent light bulb) don't particularly care if the fields change direction, so long as they exist. For devices that do care about the changing amplitude or direction of the current, we convert AC to DC using a rectifier.
In an intuitive sense, you can think of it kind of like a hand saw. The saw just moves back and forth, so it's not going anywhere "on average". But the cutting is produced by the movement of the saw blade against the material, so it cuts as long as there's movement in either direction.
#this is again something I'm admittedly not as familiar with as one might expect of an electrical engineer#A bit of googling went into this answer#my work focused more on the materials themselves rather that a circuit as a whole#or even individual devices like a diode or transistor#so take my answer with a grain of salt

Game Night with Douglas
Click for better quality
What happens after Douglas leaves for a second
rambling about their outfit in tags
#a dnd continuation! more like an excuse to redesign their outfits and throw in douglas with them#if you compare the gameover/wendigo art and this one it looks like they grew up lol#for mandark i wanted to stick with his original design but combine his two iconic outfits into one with a fantasy vibe :D#his collar and pants is how i tried incorporating it and i honestly love his white collar but kinda sad i didn't know how to add his tie#a ruby gem gifted by dexter was placed instead#the last robe looked like a hoodie so i changed it to fit his cape from his og design to have more black on the outfit and point up collar#tried to add as much M's i could without looking tacky such as the gold one underneath the ruby which is also detachable#that allows him to take off the robe with ease#there's also a hidden gold m near his collar if you squint#mandark has M spilt on the back with golden lining and underneath everything is a long tight turtle neck#he wears a vest inspired by his leotard patterns which i love that it was caught and earrings with his signature M dangling from his glasse#lastly his staff which is inspired by his gun it's very multipurpose and his crystal ball can be removed and emit magic particles#mandark was supposed to have his elvish print on his clothing but i couldn't find a language alphabet for it#for dexter he's completely inspired by his fusionfall counterpart#his lab coat is lined with golden accents and wanted to add tech to his outfit so i add metal and circuit shoulders to honor his lab itself#the mirror of the shoulders is detachable and multi purposed such as a storage area and communication device similar to mandark's staff#i figured i'd keep the leather like previously for mobility and comfort compared to pure metal shoulders#he keeps a potion near his side for emergencies#then there's his necklace “MD” in dwarvish#i brought his wrench which wasn't considered much last time#dexter can press the button in the middle and quickly expand and vise versa for portability#quite honestly i gave douglas a basic outfit since i don't think he stands out in a fantasy world#his outfit is inspired by his originial clothes too mostly the colors#he does have a lil quirk of engraving D into things like puss in boots#sorry i made you basic human archer douglas LOL#im happy with it it literally took days researching and careful consideration of their designs haha#dexter's laboratory#dexter's lab#dexdark#flame draws

"The Doctor and Rose don't have any chemistry, they spend most of their episodes separated so we never get to see their relationship develop."
....um. ....what?
#I've been reading a few weird takes#Yes yes I know I promised myself I wouldn't but IT'S EVERYWHERE RIGH TNOW#And I told myself I would just laugh and move on....#But this was just one of those takes that made me snort out my coffee#nearly short circuit every electronic device within spittake range#and then RUSH to my keyboard in a fit of KEYSMASH LOLz

What Is An Inductive Force Sensor?
An inductive force sensor is a type of sensor that utilizes the principle of electromagnetic induction to measure force. It operates by detecting changes in inductance caused by the force applied to the sensor, translating these changes into corresponding electrical signals. Typically, such sensors consist of coils, a magnetic core, and an outer casing. When force is applied, causing a displacement of the magnetic core, it alters the magnetic flux density within the coil, thereby generating measurable electrical signals.

@imprvdente: Fish confesses that Vox gave her a TV and a DVD player lmfaooo
The sound of a record abruptly coming to a screeching halt fills the bedroom, loud enough to hurt the poor girl'ears.
"...Of course he did." The distaste in his voice is even thicker than the radio filter that usually scrambles it. "What a meddlesome fellow, don't you agree? But don't fret, my dear, I will take care of it."
And of Vox himself too, naturally.

need to shell out for a new laptop before the end of the year - for a lot of reasons but mainly bc support ending for win8.1 makes fixing the current beast rather pointless :/ (and. admittedly. there is a lot to fix. she's old and she has suffered.)
but my current beastie is from the last gen of laptops with a disc drive and the thought of using an external/usb disc drive is enough to make me cry tears of blood
#really though it is time to upgrade#and i hate to say it because she /runs/ fine it's all hardware issues w parts that can absolutely be replaced#but if i can't use it to run the programs i need then shelling out the money for those parts would ultimately be a waste#but also the fact that this machine that runs fine is no longer worth fixing bc some google-based bullshit just won't support win8.1 anymor#is ALSO a fucking waste & a pile of planned obsolescence bullshit! and i hate it!#but uh. even though she runs fine and she totally does. she does need. uh.#new keyboard (only 1/3 of keys work; currently use usb keyboard)#new trackpad ribbon cable (trackpad does not currently work; using external usb mouse)#new power button and connecting ribbon cable (turning it on involves opening it up and causing an intentional short-circuit every time.)#(a problem largely solved by simply never turning her completely off- except she also needs)#a new battery (current battery does not charge at all; machine needs to be constantly plugged in or it shuts down immediately)#...ok i might be the 'this is fine' dog about this#but i am still upset! that i will no longer have a disc drive inside my damn laptop.#that's the disc drive's natural habitat; that's where it should be; it's weird and offputting to have it connected via usb!#ack. why do tech companies fuck everything up.#and that's without getting into the way new devices offer less harddrive space so people will use the fucking cloud or whatever???#yeah sorry no i'm not using your goddamn data mining corporate off-site storage i want to keep my shit on my own goddamn machine#go to actual hell if you're trying to sell me a pc with less than at least 500GB of storage i swear to fuck#...in essence you could say the whole process is leaving me rather grumpy

Reblogging only for @lytefoot’s tags bc this is legit incredibly cool and I may or may not have just read two papers about using Roman-mined lead for the Cryogenic Dark Matter Search no I am not procrastinating something else

#i mean i need you all to understand that metals mined by the romans and then lost in shipwrecks#is an incredibly important resource for digital devices#because its been out of the ground where it isnt exposed to uranium decay#and even a tiny little bit of radioactivity can absolutely screw over an integrated circuit#recycled metals are literally better than freshly mined ones#ea nasir#ea nāṣir#ea naṣir#fuck ea nasir#all my homies hate ea nasir

#Fun thought.#God has no control over the granularity or flow of information in modern machines.#Any naturally occuring object and its information interscts with the conscious field that is god.#Purely mechanical devices can still be influenced.#But anything based in electronics or circuits is insulated from this field.#I'm starting to wonder if stars are like a conscious engines. They can influence anything through waves within the local system.#But any time frequencies are broadcast between machines they can fuck with the signal.#All about wave and signal interaction.

Hardware to Cloud: Unleashing Motor Innovation with Voler Systems’ Design and IoT Expertise
Turning a product idea into something real—something that works, connects, and solves a problem—isn’t easy. It takes careful planning, technical know-how, and the right team. That’s exactly what Voler Systems brings to the table. From designing the core electronics to helping products connect to the cloud, they support every stage of development.

Most smart devices start with an embedded systems design. This is the part of the product that controls how it works—like the brain behind a fitness tracker, medical sensor, or industrial monitor. Voler Systems designs embedded systems that are not just functional but dependable and optimized for performance. Their team works closely with clients to make sure the design fits the product’s real-world needs.
Some projects require faster processing or very specific performance, which is where FPGA design comes in. FPGAs are flexible chips that can be programmed to do custom tasks—great for things like video processing or precise motor control. Voler has deep experience with FPGA work, helping teams build powerful solutions without starting from scratch every time.
Then there’s connectivity—something nearly every modern product needs. Voler provides Internet of Things consulting to help businesses create devices that send and receive data, communicate over wireless networks, and interact with cloud systems. From choosing the right sensors to managing cloud integration, Voler helps build connected solutions that are scalable and secure.
What clients really value about Voler Systems is their practical approach. They don’t just focus on the technical specs—they focus on making the whole product development process smoother. Whether it's a prototype, a redesign, or a production-ready launch, they help identify challenges early and work toward clear, smart solutions.
In short, Voler Systems is more than just an engineering firm. They’re a partner in building smarter, more connected products—from the circuit board to the cloud. If you're creating something innovative and want the right support along the way, they’re a team worth talking to.
