For all Bertel Bäck’s sleaze and greasiness I do really enjoy that he’s a genuine friend to Dan-Ole and wants the best for him. It would’ve been really easy to make him a subpar friend who barely tolerates Dan-Ole but they’re clearly actually close and it’s very nice to see they went for him being three- rather than two-dimensional

ultimately i think the appeal of daniel and armand to me is that it's very much a typical dark romance storyline where the heroine is kidnapped and tortured by an evil monster but using her wits she manages to seduce him and make him emotionally vulnerable to her, because she is More Special and More Clever than all of his other victims, and because of this she enjoys a level of dangerous favor and protection from him, except in This version of the dark romance it's two toxic old men who both have the worst fucking personalities imaginable. who truly just fucking suck beyond measure. like no pun intended, they are Garbage, one is the actual literal immortal devil and the other is just kind of a deadbeat with no moral compass, neither of them is willing to work on himself and neither of them has ANY reason to want to rail the other as bad as they do.

Hey sooo. Who do we think the "stick to me like caramel" line is about in Caramel?

Is it about the fans that are actually respectful, like the ones he isn't calling out. Is he asking us to stick to him nonetheless?

Or is it about the band like it's Vessel asking his boys to stick to him and walk this path next to him even if it's hard on all of them.

OR is it sarcasm and it's actually still about the toxic fans that seem to stick to him like caramel and that will continue with their behavior until all the hate and attention seeking makes them feel nothing as well.

Or am I completely off and it's about something/someone else entirely? What are your thoughts?!

I have personally always disliked Amanda on account of first appearance involving slapping Spock for having medical autonomy, but the fandom has always loved her and talked about what a great mom she is. So it is on some level gratifying to have Discovery confirm that she does indeed suck as a mom, but oh, it's so awful to watch Michael go through all of this

ya know at first i thought your episode 18 posts were a little harsh but then i really thought about it and yeah. i actually agree with you on pretty much all of it. in my opinion one of the most frustrating parts of d20 is watching the intrepid heroes fail to put all the pieces together, and seeing that manifest as a slaughter fest against the rat grinders is disappointing. don’t get me wrong, i understand that we as the audience have a birds eye view and an easier time threading the story together. but still, kinda sucks :/

lumping all of these together because the rushed feeling of the season is definitely there and contributed to how the final conflict is just resolved via battle and not alternative means... I think there were several factors at play here. I'm still holding out hope for the final final episode but:

the way they filmed all of FHJY and its APs together in a very short timespan. FHSY is so developed and interesting plotwise and I feel that HAS to be because they got a whole week in between episodes/streams to sit and think about the information they received. (on that note I feel when APs are filmed directly after the episodes instead of in retrospective, there's very little to say or reflect on since you Just got out of the session and everything you have to say was likely already said during the play session.) the crunch filming + episode limit combo is just not good for health or coming to a satisfying conclusion of all narrative threads

dnd combat is just so inherently fucked as a conflict resolution tool and it's NOT built for anything aside from killing things. we see this firsthand how the rat grinders get reduced to their kits and not their characters (take oisin out first, cut off his head so he can't be revived) both by the cast and the fandom... which leads to some pretty upsetting conflict when you have people who really enjoy these characters as, well, characters and not targets with hit points!

we have GOTTA get one season that doesn't end directly with a final battle. please. we've gotta have one that does a big reveal, an episode to sit with that reveal, a final battle, and then a whole other roleplay episode after that battle to finish off the season. we cannot be doing 15 minute epilogues directly after coming off 4 hrs of dnd combat that is how we get neverafter and whatever the acoc finale was (adding FHJY finale to the list? I'm still holding out for the last episode to give us anything at all. bad kids being under influence of rage all battle reveal? please?)

The Wizard, The Witch, and The Wild One is fantastic because it is a story that I am more than happy to just sit back (read: live on the edge of my fucking seat) and listen to unfold.

The Fireside Chat is fantastic because they get to call out shit takes that somehow characters not making perfect choices is a bad thing, like these 4 people don't know how to tell a fucking phenomenal story no matter what, and specifically do that together with each other.

Lol. Imagine being legitimately upset Ame did the thing we all knew Ame was going to do, which lead into yet another one of the best episodes of anything to ever exist, ever. Could not be me. I was gasping. I was threatening Keen. I was cackling and kicking my feet. Sometimes, you just need to get on the fucking ride.
