Part 1: One Year Ago

“Onyx Cheshire,

“Lapis Hamelin,

“Ivory Reynard,
“and Violet Goodfellow…”

“Allow me to welcome you to Atlas Academy. As most of you already know, I am Major Cobalt Ymir- third and fourth year combat instructor for Atlas as well as your team’s advisor. During this orientation you are allowed to speak freely and ask the questions you need before we begin with your first assignment.”

“I have a question, Uncle Cobalt-” Violet, the shortest of the four, spoke up. She held her slight frame in the best kind of official-looking stance she could come up with.

“Major,” Cobalt corrects, “You now part of Atlas Academy and we hold ourselves to military standards. Who I am in relation to any of you holds no bearing outside of the fact that I am your team advisor and an officer. Cadet Cheshire, the same goes for you. The fact that I am your father’s friend means nothing here.”
“R-Right! I have a question, Major,” When Violet received the nod to continue, she did. “Is it true you asked for all four of us by name?”

“I did. This does go against usual convention but occasionally we scout our entrants ahead and form teams accordingly.”

“And you claim no special treatment? The fact that all but one of us knew who you were ahead of time would hint at something else, wouldn’t it?” Onyx stands more casually than the others, but with an air of proper manners. A wide smile never left his face.
“I have to agree with Onyx, sir.” Ivory stood a full head over everyone else and nearly a full two over Violet. Unlike the others she stood with perfect soldier-like attention. “Both of us know you through Onyx’s dad and… you’re that one’s uncle?” She nods to head to Violet, “And you asked for us specifically. Why?”

“That would be because I know you and your families- and they trust me to work you hard and without exception.” Cobalt says in a stern official tone. “None of you will coast through this academy on name or privilege under my watch!”

“What’s that mean?” Lapis asks, finally opening his mouth to speak to Ivory. For such a large built guy, he was speaking plainly and quietly.

“Really? You’ve never heard the name ‘Cheshire’ before? Hamelin, was it?” Onyx gives a slightly haughty glance to the bulkier student.
“You mean that investment firm? The one founded by that former huntsmen?”
“That’s the one,” Ivory explains, “That former huntsmen is Onyx’s father and he’s an old friend of the Major. Mine works for the company. Onyx and I have known each other basically all our lives.”

“Uh huh…” Lapis says dully before turning to Violet. “What about you?”
“You’ll see…” Violet responds, deflating her shoulders and flicking her eyes to Lapis, then looking up to actually meet his face. “How about you?”
“That’s a good question, actually.” Lapis says, staring right at the Major with a demanding intent. “I don’t have any convenient friends or relatives in the army.”

“You are a very special case, Cadet Hamelin. Under normal circumstances students much finish a training school or receive private tutoring to become ready for the academies. You managed to pass our entrance exams without that. While not unheard of it is exceedingly rare. Rest assured the academy will be watching your progress closely.”

“Just don’t make it too close. I don’t plan on joining the army.”

“Whatever you all choose to do after graduation is your choice. However, starting today you are under my direct supervision. Beacon Academy has a tradition of launching their first year students into the Emerald Forest to test whether they have what it takes to survive being a huntsmen. We're going to do something similar. Gather your things and get some rest. Tomorrow you will embark on your first training mission as a team. Prove to me my faith in your capabilities is not misplaced.”

Chapter Ten: What The Heart Wants.
Location: Upper Docks.
Larsen: "I don't fucking care if he said my name or not. Once the old man is in a better condition you're going to take him right back over to his dumbass church. You know I don't like these assholes."
Solomon stirred a bit. His condition was stable at least but there would be a long road to recovery ahead of him. At this point he wasn't sure what the long-term effects of the encounter would be. Perhaps Julius had robbed him of his ability, or perhaps it would simply return in time.
Solomon: "No...church.."
Larsen: "Well look at that, ya finally fuckin said something. Why the hell shouldn't I send you back where you belong."
Solomon found it hard to speak and instead motioned for something to write with. Van handed him a pen and some paper.
Solomon began to write, eventually handing the paper to Larsen.
Larsen: "Son of a bitch..."
Van: "What did he say?"
Larsen: "Julius has the Bishop's Staff and plans to use Imperial tech to turn the Templars into his own private army. He's in the head of the High Priestess."
Van: "Surprised you don't want to just go over to Delta Town and tear everything apart."
Larsen: "Was my first thought but something the old man wrote makes sense. If I do that, Julius just gets more support. One district attacking another, he'll just get more and more people on his side. This isn't a game we can win with brute force."
Miranda: "No, you can't. Luckily for you, you have one hell of a strategist here to help." She stepped into the room, Brother Jerome following her and closing the door.
Location: Smokey Gardens.
Violet: "May...Castor..please. Stop and think about this for a second. Lucianna isn't herself. I don't know what's going on but I know something is wrong. She hasn't been acting right for a while now, it's getting worse and worse.."
Castor: "Heresy!" Castor attempted to move forward but stop when May held her arm out in front of him.
Castor: "Sister May? You can't possibly believe whatever nonsense she's trying to distract us with!"
May: "I'm not believing anything. I do however want to hear everything she has to say. All of you will stand down. This is a temporary ceasefire. Violet, continue."
Violet: "Haven't you noticed how closely Brother Julius has been with Lucianna as of late? It's like she isn't listening to anyone save for him. He should have given up his position leading the Templars long ago but he keeps using the elections as an excuse. Even if he did get the votes, the right thing to do would be to appoint an actual Templar to the role of First."
Shin: "Julius has no intention of stepping down."
Shin and Sapir made their way down the path, walking up behind Violet and her friends.
Shin: "We aren't here to fight. We're just here to backup what Sundrop is saying."
Violet: "Dad..."
Shin: "In order to understand everything going on with Lucianna, you have to know how it all started..."
Many Years Ago:
Location: Bouvo Peaks.
Ymir: "This is Ymir Cobalt reporting in. Markella and I are in position and awaiting orders."
Lucianna: "Are we certain this factory is active? Patrols have been by it countless times, and no one has ever reported seeing anything other than a few stray chimeras."
Ymir: "I would be questioning it as well, but we recently had a scout going missing when they went inside to investigate."
Ymir: Answering his radio "Affirmative, I read you command." Turning and motioning to the seemingly dormant factory. Several other soldiers were positioned around the outside of the building.
Lucianna braced herself before pushing the door open, Ymir and the rest of their patrol in formation behind her.
Ymir: "Commencing sweep, radio in if you see anything."
Lucianna: "What was this place anyway?"
Ymir: "Old weapons Manufactuing facility. So, they said anyway. Some people claimed that was just a front and that the empire was using it as an early chimera lab."
Without warning the factory sprang to life, lights flickering on, machinery starting back up, and a security system activating.
Ymir caught sight of someone on the other side of the room, ordering them to stop before he and Lucianna rushed after them. They pursued the individual down a set of stairs and into what looked like a destroyed office. The back wall had been demolished relatively recently and the opening led into an old laboratory.
The figure turned, revealing a jester mask on their face. Ymir had no time to react as the jester threw a switch which emptied several tanks around the lab, the chimera inside waking up and breaking out of the glass.
Lucianna turned and fired upon one of the ancient chimeras, dropping it momentarily before the others focused on her. Ymir found himself in combat with the jester but was outmatched by the man's otherworldly agility.
He was just barely able to hold his own as he looked back at Lucianna defending against the chimeras. His radio going off with reports of his squad being taken out by other chimera that were now roaming the facility. He managed to shove the jester back enough to order a retreat.
He turned to see Lucianna take down one chimera only to get thrown to the ground and pounced on by another. The jester meanwhile retrieved some research data from one of the consoles before punching in a code and activating a destruction sequence that would level the building.
As much as Ymir wanted to pursue the fleeing jester Lucianna was more important. He turned and fired at one of chimeras before leaping on the back of the one attempting to maul Lucianna. It took everything he had to pull the beast back enough to allow Lucianna to slide away.
Lucianna went to fire at the chimera Ymir was occupied with but had to focus on the other remaining beast to prevent Ymir from being overtaken. Ymir held on to the beast and fired several rounds into the back of its head. His ammo ran out at the worst possible time, giving the chimera enough of an opening to buck him off and turn, sinking its teeth into Ymir's arm.
The chimera shook wildly, the acid blood dripping from its wounds, further damaging Ymir's arm. Lucianna was finally able take down her chimera, turning and firing everything she had at the remaining beast. It thrashed wildly, severing Ymir's arm and tossing him across the room before dropping to the floor dead.
Lucianna rushed across the room and tended to Ymir, helping him up and making her way up the stairs with him as the countdown reached its end. As they approached the door a series of explosions were set off. The building coming down around them.
Lucianna managed to push the barely conscious Ymir out of the building before being trapped inside by debris. As the building crumbled Lucianna looked for an exit, spotting a window upstairs. Somehow, she managed to make her way up the dilapidated stairs and moved closer to the window.
As she prepared to jump, a fuel tank of sorts hanging precariously above her was dislodged, swinging down before it finally exploded, there was nothing she could do as she felt herself caught up in the explosion and thrown through the window, landing hard on the ground outside as the building burned to the ground.
Location: Smokey Gardens.
Shin: "Lucianna and Ymir were rescued and taken to a medical facility. Ymir would eventually make a full recovery, being given a rather impressive cybernetic arm to replace his lost one."
"Lucianna, however. She sustained heavy damage from the explosion and from being thrown from such a great height. It's a wonder she didn't have major brain damage from what she went through. The explosion must have happened right next to her head."
"It took years of therapy, several surgeries, and some experimental techniques just to get her back to relative normalcy. By all logic she shouldn't have survived. She credited it to a higher power. In her eyes she lived by the will of the creator. She was saved by an act of God. It was after this she devoted herself to her religion..."
Shin: "We believe the trauma is taking its toll. It's also become apparent that sometime when she was in a vulnerable state, Julius began to take advantage of her. Perhaps he even had some sort of ability or tech that helped him. With everything going on as of late she must have been under an increasing amount of stress, and it made it all the easier for Julius to.."
Castor: "Brother Julius would never do such a thing! The High Priestess labeled you as a traitor and now you're here trying to turn us against our faith, against our guiding lights!"
Castor and several other of the Templars turned, pointing their weapons at Shin and the others. May however stepped in front of Castor, several Templars joining her and making a wall between the two groups.
May: "You are acting out of line Brother. We are not meant to be a militia. We aren't meant to be anyone's private army. Not Brother Julius, not Sister Lucianna. Castor..is this really what you want? A civil war? We're being turned against each other.."
Castor clenched his fists and turned away from May.
Castor: "Sister...May has made her choice. You either stay here with her or you leave with me. Ask yourself what your heart..what your faith tells you to do. Just remember, any who stay will be considered traitors in the eyes of creation."
Castor's group would leave the area. May and a few other Templars remained.
Ivory: "So uh, hey." Smiling at May.
Onyx: "NOT THE TIME!"
Days Later:
Location: Cathedral Of The Sun, Delta Town.
Brother Julius addresses the congregation.
Julius: "I do apologize for the state of things. The cathedral is currently undergoing repairs, we hope to be finished as quickly as possible. Now, on to some important business."
"Our beloved High Priestess is taking a leave of absence. She has been dealing with a great deal of stress and needs some time to rest and recuperate. I am sure the Creator will be with her every step of the way."
"Worry not, I have been appointed by the High Priestess to serve in her place until she returns. My first act as High Priest will be one of mercy. I hereby decree that those who were recently labeled as "traitors" are forgiven for their transgressions."
"Brother Shin, Sister Sapir, Sister Violet, Brother Jerome and Brother Solomon are welcomed back with open arms. In fact, just to show that all is well, I am appointing Brother Shin as temporary First Templar while I handle my new duties."
"We unfortunately do not know the whereabouts of Brother Solomon, but should he return, he is welcomed back to his position."
"Now, let us move on to today's sermon.."
Location: Upper Docks
Larsen: "Don't worry about a thing. We'll make sure Solomon gets back to full health and we'll keep him out of sight. Best that Julius doesn't know he's still alive."
Mianda: "Good, we need as many elements of surprise as we can get. We're playing the long game now."
Larsen: "What do you think his game is? What is that fucker trying to gain by acting so civil?"
Miranda: "Makes him look good. Forgiving everyone, putting Shin in charge of the Templars. Who would ever think he was anything but a humble priest?"
Larsen: "Most of the Templars aren't going to listen to Shin anyway, probably all brainwashed by Julius by now. May and a small group are all Shin has for now."
Miranda: "It'll have to do. We have a lot of work ahead of us before we can make a move. I still need to track down where Lucianna went for her so-called recuperation."
Merek: Walking up and sitting on a bench across from Miranda. "I believe I may be able to help you with that."

Has a long beard and is almost always depicted with his 2 ravens and his 2 wolves 𝕷𝖔𝖗𝖊/𝖘𝖙𝖔𝖗𝖎𝖊𝖘:
~From the earliest times he was a war god, protector of heroes; fallen warriors joined him in Valhalla. But he was also the great magician among the gods and is associated with runes, knowledge, wisdom, and veterans. He is concidered king of the gods/Aesir, the "All Father", and both trickster and protector of Asgard and Midgard. Though he is the son of two giants, he is Aesir, probably because his grandfather (esentially) was one of the first gods. With his mother decending from Ymir and his his Giant father was decended from Audumbla. -The Nornes carved runes into the wood of the tree Yggdrasil's trunk, to influence the fate of destiny. Odin became envious of their ability -but the runes don't show themselves easily- To prove himself, Odin was pierced to the wood of the great ash tree, where he hung for 9 windy days and nights, refusing any who offered aid. Finally, Odin fell off the tree and into the well below, screaming as he clutched the runes to his chest, and at the end of the 9th night -after teetering on the edge of life and death- he understood the runes.
With this knowledge, he was able to heal, quell grief, make blunt even the sharpest blade, break any felters that may bind him, hold/catch arrows mid-flight, turn poison onto another, protect others from naked flame, quench fury, quiet winds, storms, waves, and the seas, to drive witches and the Nornes mad, too keep friends from harm in battle, to walk and talk with those who have hung, to make a warrior invisible, to know all Aesir and Elves, to make a woman lust and ensure a maiden stays, and finally an ability he would not tell. -At the bottom of the well Odin was told by Mimir that he could drink from its knowledge-giving water, but only with the sacrifice of one of his eyes. His eyes were pale blue and were the color of the sky on a winter's day, when the frost is still on the ground. His eyes could pick out the tiniest bird miles and miles away, across the frozen tundra, if a human or god looked him in the eyes, they could not but feel a kind of awe. But, in the end, he did have two of them. So, he plucked out his eye and the head of his uncle allowed him to drink the water.
Odin instantly saw everything that had and will happen, and though there was good and bad news, he simply laughed with happiness when he saw the joy that would come to him. -He has two ravens; Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory). He sends them out at dawn and they fly all over the world, before returning home at dinner to report back what they had seen -Odin was lonely during his travels and battles so he created Geri (greedy one) and Freki (ravenous one), and they stand by his side and ensure the Aesir king's safety and its said they populated the earth with their offspring -making wolves and dogs- -Loki's eight legged flying horse child -Sleipnir- was given to the king as a gift. It's teeth are inscribed with runes, and it has the ability to gallop through all skies and seas with its many legs, super-strength, speed, durability and endurance.

Revel in Riches!
“Hello all you lovely Bounty Hunters out there! I hope you’re ready for an rankings update! Wanna know who’s worth the most? Wanna see what’s got the biggest bang for your buck? You came to the right place!”
“I’m Ares!”
“And I’m Aphrodite!”
“Welcome to..”
“Revel in Riches!”
“Your one stop shop for all the hottest new bounty board news!”
“Before we get to that, we’d like to give a special shoutout to all the folks going through the Cheshire Bounty Hunter Program! We love to see all the new faces in the biz and hope you get your licenses soon!”
“Remember, learn everything you can while you’re studying under the best of the best!”
“Now then, let’s check the bounty board!”
The screen turns to static for a moment but fixes itself quickly.
“Sorry about that, I think the station is having some technical difficulties.”
“In any case, the number one bounty on the board is...is..this right?”
“The First Templar? That’s...sort of strange but it IS on the board. What do you think they did to wind up here? In any case good luck with that one..nobody even knows who they are but uh I guess you can get paid if you find them and bring them in..”
“Second on the list is..”
“..Tyrael Cheshire and Tiberius Ciar? Are we sure this thing is normal..where are the normal entries...”
“I uh..well you can see the rewards being offered but we here at Revel in Riches can’t condone going after city council members...”
“Next is...Cobalt Ymir and Mother Marianne? Ok We are definitely not going to condone going after a PWSB member and someone who might not even exist..”
“Well..bringing up the rear is the so-called Dark Angel..which is somewhat normal..we’ve seen them on here a lot but this is still strange..”
“Sorry folks..despite the fact we have reward money and the list doesn’t seem tampered with..something is wrong here. We can’t advise you to go after any of these targets. We’ll get to the bottom of this, we promise.”

A Levihan Zodiac fanfic where Hange is the Aquarius Water Bearer (and bender), and she can manipulate the magic water inside the two enchanted tiny jars on her pearl bracelets into all kinds of weapons, whips, her Starlord Warrior Armor, and Sawney and Bean are her personal half giants, half cyclones.
(Art: Asur Misoa)

Then, after mightily defending the Earth against one of Ymir's Titan Daughter during the Millennial Sunset Battle, her human assistant, Armin, watches her go totally passed out on the beach sand of her Aquarius Temple floating island in the safety of Merman Capricorn Levi's arms (who appeared last minute bc he was fighting the 2nd daughter of Ymir near his underwater domain).
And as Hange and her powers need a good rest, her magic water begins to melt too. Levi grimaces, then whips the sand beneath them with his blue-green fin as he murmurs a swear under his breath seeing her Water Armor begin to slip back into the magic jars on her pearl bracelets (and yes, he gave her pearls). But he also swiftly hovers his index finger over her legs and hips, and instantly his trident laid at his side glows and floats in the air, morphing and expanding into a water blanket.
It envelopes Hange's body from feet to neck, but after a few seconds, the glow fades, and Levi's water blanket has turned into stunning purple-greenish scales draped over her neck, chest, hips and lower body (like a backless dress), but, wow, her legs are gone and replaced with a mermaid tail!
The scales on her body look similar to the ones in Levi's blue-green tail, except while both their fins look fish-like scales made out of the finest and most delicate gemstones, Hange's are more flashy, shining lustrous like nothing Armin has ever seen!
As the young blonde stares at his Master's dazzling fin, he notices the scales are glinting with sparks of silver. And then to his surprise, they begin to wave across her fin like an invible ink brush is painting a watercolor of platinum clouds on her purple tail.
At first, Armin thinks it's the sunset light reflecting from the sea over her fin. But when dots of gold and cobalt colors bloom along the cloudy silver scales, recognition falls upon him, and his eyes grown wide: the smaller multicolor patterns on Hange's scales are glowing like tiny stars because they are actually painting in her mermaid tail the most famous Starred Path of the Milky Way!

**
Extra:
Armin is so captivated staring at his Master's beauty that he nearly jolts out of his skin when he hears a sudden rough Tch.
"Oi, brat, eyes up or they are my Kraken's snack." Levi barks, and while Armin sees his human 15-years old life flash before his eyes, he wonders if dying eaten by Krakens is less scary than having the Capricornian's steel-blue irises piercing through him.
(But, of course, Levi wouldn't use his Kraken on Armin. Besides that being a empty threat, his sea monster likes to obey only Hange now. And of course she wouldn't bait her new yet already so adored young human assistant to her pet LOL)
**
Idk if this idea made much sense?! LOL, but thanks for coming to my 2nd shitty Fic Plot Talk 🤣

• Randvi x female reader 💋
a sapphire for your heart, part IV
Morning found you wide awake and restless. Your bedding was a mess on the floor and you were lying on the fresh straw which filled your bed. Nausea threatened to spill with every little movement you made; nausea from lack of sleep, and from overthinking. But with a bit of effort you managed to push yourself to sit and wash down the bile with a jug full of lemon water.
The day was promising. It seemed a lot of passers-by had stopped by the docks to bring news or tend to various local business, and many curious young men and women were flocking around Reda’s tend of exotic wonders. You made a careful selection of your own items and brought them outside for the visitors to see and admire, and eventually purchase. Saxon women were especially interested in your variety of colorful fabrics; bright teal, gold, and crimson shawls which powerfully contrasted their otherwise somber outfits. But it was your natural charms that convinced reluctant men to buy expensive gifts for their wives and daughters, and by noon you nearly sold out everything you’ve selected for that day.
All, but one.
It was an emerald green, pure silk scarf, beautifully ornate with golden threads and precious garnet beads. You were offered a hefty sum for it, but you declined with a smile and neatly packed it in your bag.
There were several locals and guests in the longhouse, chatting and enjoying the first course of their supper. Among them, you spotted a beautiful Viking with bright auburn hair and a jug of mead in her large hand. She was accompanied by several friends whom she chatted and laughed with; perhaps it was not the best of times to speak with her. But before you could take your leave, a dark-haired woman waved her arm and asked you to join them at their table. Randvi turned her head to look and when she saw you, she smiled the most beautiful smile you’d ever seen. Your heart raced like a hummingbird, sending little thrills of excitement through every cell of your being.
God… you were bewitched.
“You must be Sapphire! I’m Petra, it’s nice to meet you.”
The woman who beckoned you grinned as she made room for you to sit next to her, and right across from Randvi. You fiercely battled to keep your emotions hidden, to appear collected as you spoke with the people who would accompany you the next day in your treasure hunt. You’d be a group of five, with Petra helping you explore paths safe from dangerous wild predators, and the other three were warriors meant to protect you. A small, but capable group. You drank in their names, clashed jugs with them, and with Randvi, and promised a good journey tomorrow. However, there was a troubling feeling gnawing at your thoughts – the fact that she wouldn’t be there with you.
Soon, the longhouse was full of people dancing and singing, and enjoying the pleasant company of one another as they feasted. In the overwhelming loudness of cheering and music, you excused yourself and went outside to get a breath of fresh air. The night was crisp, sobering you up and lessening the ache at your temples.
“Were we too much for you?”
Your heart jumped at the sound of a beautiful familiar voice caressing your ears. When you looked back, Randvi was standing right behind you on the wooden porch. The light from within cast a glow upon her tall, godly silhouette, making her appear holy. You tightened the hold on your bag, momentarily deciding to postpone gifting her the shawl.
“Not at all. It was the smoke, it stung my eyes.” You answered with a smile.
She slowly closed the distance between you, and with a kind palm at the small of your back she encouraged you to walk with her further away from the longhouse. It was a simple, ghostly touch which lasted a moment, and yet it set your heart ablaze.
How cruel fate must’ve been to plant the seed of desire so deep into your core, only to watch you twist and struggle against the shackles of sapphic love. The way Randvi seemed to glow beneath the pallid moonlight was enthralling; the whole blanket of shimmering stars reflected in her deep cobalt eyes.
“How do you like Ravensthorpe so far?”
She asked.
You glanced at her briefly; beside the lingering smell of smoke in the longhouse and her anguished cries in the night, everything was perfect! But you wouldn’t dare say that out loud.
“It’s lovely. I’ve never been to a Viking settlement before. Your architecture and clothing designs are breathtaking.”
“Clothing designs?” She echoed, slightly amused; perhaps it was the mead.
“Yes. The fabrics you use, the intricate patterns and choice of color… the carvings in your shields and weapons. It’s beautiful.” You confessed with a smile. The way you spoke of her traditional wear made Randvi’s mirth dissolve into surprise.
There was a knot in your throat and your chest felt heavy, as if you were about to spill all the thoughts and feelings you’ve been silently enduring since the day you’ve been acquainted with her. The sound of the river reminded you of her pained, secret cries; you wanted to ask why. Yet all you could do was stand very still as you slowly lost yourself in the depth of her intense, beckoning gaze.
“What else do you like?” She inquired as she shifted from one foot to the other and crossed her large arms over her bosom. Her authoritative pose caught you off guard – heavens, she was a force you could not resist. Your gaze lingered on her dazzling eyes, and then slowly followed the trail of her sharp cheekbones and perfect jaw, all the way to her full lips.
“Your spirit.” You answered. “How your people fight – courageous, almost reckless, unified and strong. There’s something about you…”
Randvi’s interest slowly seemed to grow as she listened. You locked your eyes with hers again, and this time you couldn’t look away. It was beyond sinful to have certain thoughts about a married woman, and yet her allure was stripping you of all reason. If Sigurd was there, he’d probably raise a fist against you, and you’d be crazy enough to challenge him.
“I want you to join us tomorrow.”
Suddenly, you spoke.
“On the hunt you mean? I’m afraid I cannot. There is work I must tend to, here.” Randvi declined, albeit she was pleasantly surprised.
“Whatever work you have cannot be more important than such a great find – I want you to be there, to see the gold for yourself.” You felt as if you found a small grip on her will, and you weren’t about to let go. Something burned deep within you; a flame which would consume you whole if Randvi would refuse you again. Thankfully, she promised she’d consider it.
Delighted, you turned your head to hide a smile in the crook of your shoulder. All of a sudden, tomorrow seemed like decades away.
The graceful Viking walked you to each and every house of Ravensthorpe, introducing you to their current stores and notable landscapes to admire. The abundance of colorful flowers and their sweet smell was intoxicating, lulling you closer to Mother Nature’s chest. There was a soft bed of moss right beside the pool at the base of a waterfall, and that’s where you sat down to tell each other stories.
“Norway's mountains are quite treacherous. It snows heavily most of the year, and unless you’re an experienced tracker, you’d surely find your demise in those steep valleys.”
She spoke with a smile as she fondly remembered her homeland. You were intrigued, absorbing every word and watching her attentively as you learned about the Aurora Borealis and the myths of Odin and Freya, and ragnarok. How fiercely Asgard battled against Jotunheim, and how humans eventually outlived both gods and Jotuns. It was easy to picture these fables coming to life when Randvi told them in such refined detail and with so much confidence. There must’ve been a grain of truth to her words.
“Ymir's tear… I would die for that stone. I’ve heard stories of that gem scattered all over Asgard.” You sighed as you leaned back to stretch over that soft moss and gaze up at the night sky, in awe. You felt those precious blue eyes on you, yet you didn’t dare look, fearful that you’d lose yourself in them all over again.
“Sapphire is a very beautiful name.” She spoke, and you smiled.
“That’s not my birth name…” You confessed.
“Oh?...”
“When I was six years of age, I had this… feeling, as if I knew something was beneath my feet, pulsing, calling me.” You begun your tale and Randvi lowered herself on her side, watching you.
“I had this uncontrollable urge to dig, to see what lured me in and never let me sleep. I broke four of mother’s spoons trying to tear apart the dry, hard soil.” A brief laugh escaped you as you reminisced.
“At last, my older brother stole a shovel from the neighbor one night, and by morning we dug a hole thrice our size. The neighbor was furious, and mother was about to smack us when she saw what we did to our yard.
But then… beneath the damp, muddy floor of the cavern we dug, I felt it again. That urge, that call; I ripped the soil apart with my bare hands, and out I pulled a little satchel. Inside it were two sapphires. I can see them now… shimmering in the light of dawn… they felt sharp and cold, and fit perfectly into my hands, as if they were made for me.” You bit back a smile as you turned your head and saw Randvi, in all of her beauteous glory, propped on her elbow and watching you in awe. Her eyes were just like the sapphires you fell in love with.
“And then?...” She asked with vivid curiosity.
“Mother sold them to buy a farm. And when I was nine summers old, a cart with two travelers stopped by and took me. They promised mother silver, and that I’d be returned by fall with a bag full of precious stones. But… when we returned… We found the farm abandoned, burnt to the ground.”
Randvi’s gaze seemed to soften with sorrow, yet your grin never faltered as you shook your head.
“I kept on traveling, I saw the world. They called me Sapphire ever since, and I forgot my birth name as the years went by… The world, Randvi… it’s so beautiful…” You pushed yourself to sit, drawing closer as you whispered to her.
“Come with me in the morning, let us explore and travel together...”
Her auburn lashes fluttered, as if she was awoken from a trance. She took a moment to think, to find her words or collect herself; but when she turned to meet your gaze again, she answered with a nod.
“I will. I wish to see you dig for gemstones, to see your blessed hands pull treasures free from the earth.”
Your chest swelled with joy, and all at once you were buzzing with excitement.
- To be continued…

Secondary Characters
Here is the list of Team OLIV secondary characters. As this will over time get kind of expansive, they'll be separated by section with small mini-profiles about them next to links to their main pages.
Side characters will not get trigger/theme tags in their profiles as they will largely be used against the themes the main team will be dealing with more than their own. This may change as time goes on.
These muses can be interacted with just as much as the other characters so don't be afraid to send them asks or tag them in commentary or starters.
ATLAS MILITARY
Cobalt Ymir - Major in the Atlas Military. Formerly the officer in charge of forming Team OLIV and working behind the scenes to both keep the team together and ensure they were entered into the Vytal Festival.
Shani Menril - Colonel in the Atlas Military and head of operational security. She is looking into the unusual circumstances behind Team OLIV's formation at Atlas Academy and why Major Ymir went through so much effort to form and keep the team.
CHESHIRE FINANCIAL GROUP
Redmond Reynard - Ivory's father and the CFO of Cheshire Financial. While polite and well-spoken. He is an ambitious schemer trying to work his way up the corporate ladder by whatever means necessary, and is currently eyeing his boss's spot.

'i live in a dream that is not my own. and i pray i never wake if it means i can remain by your side.'
basics
NAME: maeka sakamoto (neé nakamura, formerly of the ymir clan) AGE: 152, presumably NAMEDAY: 28th sun of the 5th astral moon GENDER: female RACE: vie'ra (born viera, frequent mishaps with fantasias have since left her identifying as both viera and au'ra.) SEXUALITY: pansexual MARITAL STATUS: married
physical
HEIGHT: 6'5" viera / 5′2″ au’ra WEIGHT: 170 lb. viera / 120lb. au’ra HAIR: cobalt, down to mid-back and more often than not swept over one of her shoulders. EYES: heterochromia; left eye pale/neon blue, the right cobalt. NOTABLE TRAITS: even as a viera, she has pale blue scales along her body. those aside, she has neon blue, arcane marks along her skin that seem to shimmer and shine.
mental
MENTAL STATE: at surface level, she may seem as though she is merely scatter brained or insanely forgetful, but the state of her mind is split between two beings that attempt to masquerade as one. her two halves are not able to consult with each other, only referencing their time as the other as ‘dreams’, and as such they often have very little to work off of when trying to live their lives. it has been noted that maeka as a viera and maeka as an au’ra are drastically different individuals. it’s not unusual for them to have trouble with names or not know facts that the other half knows. they do not often disclose this fact about themselves, as its a phenomenon they’re both still trying to understand, but if you’ve met both halves, hopefully one will open up enough to explain.
POSITIVE TRAITS: amiable, appreciative, calm, caring, disciplined, empathetic, faithful, good-natured, helpful, innovative, kind, open, peaceful, protective, reliable, selfless, sophisticated, tolerant, trusting, understanding
NEGATIVE TRAITS: aimless, anxious, clumsy, critical, dependent, discontented, escapist, gullible, hesitant, impulsive, insecure, mechanical, naive, obsessive, possessive, regretful, repressed, stubborn, submissive, vulnerable
ECHO: while she has never considered herself a warrior of light, she is a user of the echo. her echo manifests as an acute affinity for reading people’s souls, claiming she can see into the core of a person at a glance. she cannot use this power to read minds or know their entire story, rather she is adept at discerning what sort of person they are by how their aether looks. this echo is a manifestation of her unsundered self’s affinity with dynamis.

“Pardon the detour, but I presume you know why we are here.”
“We’re after one of the escaped criminals.”
“A gang leader if the dossier is to be understood, and a common user of illusion technology. We had best be on our guard and incredibly careful.”
Ivory planted one of her targets onto the ground and used it to boost herself to the mall rafters. She overlooked the shopping area of Evergreen Basin carefully. She didn’t now the terrain as well as the richer ones. Still, she was the one with the sniper rifle. “I’ll let you know if I spot anything.”

“Follow me.” Lapis says starting ahead.
“Are you sure, Lapis?”

“I’m used to getting banged up. Just have my back.”

Team OLIV: The Red Arena (Re-)Introduction
Team OLIV: The Red Arena Part 1: Atlas Academy Prologue
START >> Next Scene

“Onyx Cheshire,

“Lapis Hamelin,

“Ivory Reynard,
“and Violet Goodfellow...”

“Allow me to welcome you to Atlas Academy. As most of you already know, I am Major Cobalt Ymir- third and fourth year combat instructor for Atlas as well as your team’s .

“Both of us know you through Onyx’s dad and... you’re that one’s uncle?” She nods to head to Violet, “And you asked for us specifically.

“Uh huh...” Lapis says dully before turning to Violet. “What about you?”
“You’ll see...” Violet responds, deflating her shoulders and flicking her eyes to Lapis, then looking up to actually meet his face.

Gather your things and get some rest. Tomorrow you will embark on your first training mission as a team. Prove to me my faith in your capabilities is not misplaced.”

I probably should think of a better way to share these
Thera, you dick
(full excerpt below)
TWs for injury (broken bone), language
The wicked, little fairy was laughing at Logi, even as he was still running through the woods. He had just barely managed to grab his bow and pack, keeping a hand on his vest pocket so as not to crush the tiny witch.
She was still laughing when he took her from his pocket and dropped her in his palm. She hunched over with her arms around herself.
“Your princess was delicious,” she said, her voice dropping in pitch in an apparent imitation of his own, before she burst into more high-pitched giggles.
Logi took several chest-burning breaths before he could respond to her.
“I had to think of something,” he said. “And this way the Galls won’t look for you, if they believe you’re dead.”
Thera didn’t look up at him as she twisted the cuffs around her wrists.
“Well, that is until I make my miraculous return from your belly,” she said. “Do you have something small and sharp? Need to get these off.”
Logi made an awkward balancing act of holding Thera in the flat of his hand and digging through his bag with the other. He frowned.
“Explain yourself, princess,” he said.
Thera shrugged, seeming completely unfazed floating in the air in his palm. He attempted to cross his thumb over her, so there was at least some protection.
“Was going to pick the lock, then -” she began.
“No, that’s not what I meant,” he cut in. He was fairly certain she knew what he meant, but he continued. “Why would you return to the Galls?”
He was looking through his bag, setting furs and maps and arrows aside, but he felt her curl up obstinately in his hand.
“Don’t think that’s your business, Sir Giant,” she said. “Unless you join the forces of the Baetran Navy. I could use the height advantage.”
The light was dimmer now, but there was enough low-lying sun coming through the trees to glint off the needle he held over her.
“Well, I do hold the key to your freedom, it seems,” he said, in a voice more confident than he felt.
Thera stared up at him, practically vibrating with rage.
“You don’t know who you’re dealing with, giant,” she said.
“It’s a fool’s errand, Thera,” he said, not bothering to remind her he was a Jotunn, not a giant.
Her eyes were darting around now, taking in him, her surroundings, his spilled possessions. He finally could see the white scar over her left eye and another crossing her cheek as her face hardened in thought.
Logi hadn’t realized until now, but out of all the Little Folk here in Midgard, Thera was the only one who hadn’t shown any fear of him. He was starting to think she wasn’t afraid of anything.
“There are bluestone links on these cuffs,” she said, her voice catching slightly as she gestured to the cobalt seals. “I can’t control my magic with them on, which means I can’t heal my legs. Won’t be able to walk.”
She sounded in pain, but Logi was starting to suspect it wasn’t genuine, that she was playing on his sympathies to tiny, injured princesses so she could go kill the Galls.
Then he actually took a look at her legs and nearly vomited. They were purple and blue in spots, and one was sitting at an unnatural angle.
“Ymir’s cock,” he swore in Jotuntung. “Did this happen when I dropped you?”
She shook her head, and Logi realized who was responsible. For a moment, he envisioned sacking the Gallic Kingdom himself, for daring to hurt this tiny witch.
Fool’s errand, he reminded himself. He’d already proved fairly useless against a group of farmers and a net.
He set the needle down next to her.
“Just wait the night, at least,” he said. “You’re hurt.”
She cracked the cuffs open faster than he expected. Magic crackled in his palm and he swore her hair stood on end for a moment.
“Again, Logi,” she said. “You don’t know who the fuck you’re dealing with.”
Me: Finally, a character I share no traits with!
The character:
Me: Fuck
He raised a hand to his face, pulling up the net as he did so and bringing forth a new chorus of shouts.
“Little fairies, I don’t mean any harm,” he pleaded. He pulled at the uprooted net. “Would you be more comfortable if I kept this on?”
#it feels a little less exciting than previous but i needed to share thera's reaction to logi trying to be scary#my writing#yonder#logi leifsen#thera thermopoli

“Puck, dear, who are you speaking with?”
“Oh, he’s an Atlas soldier. Major Cobalt Ymir, I think he said. Can you remind me who that is?”
“Hmmm.... Sounds familiar.... Now, where have I-?”
“Ah, yes! That must be Miss Violet’s uncle!”
“Ha! Violet’s uncle? So the person she’s related to has a different last name, but the one she’s not related to (me) has the same last name? Crazy.”
“It’s... actually not too uncommon to-”
*no longer listening* “That is just wild.... Ha.”
