Hello! I wasn't sure what you meant by spike, but regarding Handler and this unnamed WISE agent's dynamic, I don't see them romantically involved, more like old friends and long-time coworkers who have been through a lot together.

My opinion may be colored by my own experience. A while ago, I worked on a startup with a man significantly older than me. I was senior to him in the company despite my youth and professional inexperience. He was married with kids, and was in a very different life stage. But we worked together well, and were able to argue and shout at each other but not take it personally. I also made some business decisions that he disagreed with, but he ultimately had to go along with them because I was his senior. Startup life had a ton of ups and downs, and naturally tackling all the challenges together made our friendship stronger.

My headcanon for Sylvia and this agent (let's call him Stratus for now, that's the codename I use for him in my fics), is that they sort of have that dynamic. In an upcoming chapter of 21 Eden Street, we will dive into Stratus' past. He'll reminisce on his decades as a spy, and the various superiors he worked under before Sylvia became his commanding officer. He has many more years of field missions and life experience than her, but he respects Sylvia immensely for her sharp intelligence, leadership skills, and ability to get shit done like none of the leaders before her did.

Still, due to the fact he's much older, and he's been through so much crazy stuff (two wars, close calls with the SSS, missions gone wrong etc.), he's kind of jaded and laid-back about all the risks of spy life at this point. He's not scared of Sylvia's intimidating personality and threats. He sees who she is as a person underneath the Fullmetal Lady reputation. Another human struggling to get by, dealing with the ghosts of her past, carrying a huge weight on her shoulders that she can't set down.

We can see some of his laid-back, "I've been around the block and seen this before" attitude at the end of the tennis arc:

His objection to throwing away the postcards is hilarious to me. He doesn't let the pressures of undercover life get to him too much. He probably has some eccentric hobbies of his own. This also hints that he may have been married at some point, and understands Zacharis' point of view on a personal level.

Later during chapter 78, we see how he isn't afraid of criticizing Handler to her face. It's again hilarious, and from a storytelling perspective it helps to humanize Handler (which is the point of this whole chapter).

Finally their camaraderie is apparent during the opera singer chapter. They're totally on the same page throughout the whole ordeal, with a mindset of "let's solve this problem and move on." No dwelling on tabloid drama, condescension, or naivete here.

Stratus is the WISE uncle that all the agents, including Sylvia, need to maintain some sanity and lightheartedness amid the soul-crushing work they have to do day in and day out. 🫡

A blind audition, a fruitful collaboration, a tense creative fallout: composer Jack Wall’s journey through the Mass Effect universe was as epic as the player’s

"“I had made a soundtrack for Jade Empire very successfully with BioWare before Mass Effect,” Wall tells me, when I ask how he became part of the team working on the original title. “Then, they put out an audition process for what the team was calling SFX, the codename for Mass Effect. It was a blind audition, and BioWare got the files back from a number of composers. The team would listen to all those different things and decide who nailed it the most for the tone or the feeling they were picturing. And I won that audition blind.” Almost immediately, Casey Hudson got to work on giving Wall the brief. “His mandate was ‘I want this to sound like 80s sci-fi music’. No Star Wars, nothing like that, more like Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Blade Runner. Those were the main ideas.” Hudson specifically wanted to channel that vintage analogue synth sound that defined the science fiction of the era (especially in movies) and imagined the multilayered, multitextured approach from Tangerine Dream as the perfect accompaniment to the dense and complex Mass Effect universe. Wall explains that BioWare played him a piece of music written by another composer called Sam Hulick, who had also auditioned for the project. While Hulick wasn’t chosen to be the lead composer (because he was considered to be too junior for the job), Wall gave him equal credit on the soundtrack, thanks to his “incredibly important” contributions to key themes in the first game."

It wasn’t until Mass Effect 2 that the music really came into its own, becoming integral to the whole experience. Where Mass Effect has this almost utopian outlook, channelling the optimism of mid-20th century sci-fi to establish its universe, the sequel is darker. The end of everything is nigh. From the off, you’re told the final act is a “Suicide Mission”, and to get your affairs in order before you reach the point of no return. There’s a pervasive pessimism, and every second you play you can feel the suffocating inevitability of sacrifice closing in around you. It needed music to match. "“Right at the beginning of the development, Casey Hudson came in and said ‘I’d love to write the ending now’,” Wall says, “‘because everything’s going to culminate there. I want that to be the main moment that everyone remembers. He gave me some guidance, and talked me through what he wanted [players] to feel – which is always the best way to work with a director.” This track, aptly named Suicide Mission, may be the most important across the whole trilogy. It has a more orchestral bias than anything from the first game, and reflects the serious overall tone. It shows how rapidly Mass Effect matured from one game to the next. “It had to be epic, it had to feel cinematic, it had to feel ‘one man against everything’,” says Wall. “You needed to feel like you were saving the world, saving the galaxy, whatever. I came up with that main theme, and [Hudson] liked it pretty much immediately.” But before Wall and Hudson could start fitting the pieces together, there was some maintenance to be done. BioWare and Wall were unimpressed by how the music in the first game had been patched into the final product. “The transitions were terrible,” Wall says when I ask for examples, “and it just didn’t do justice to the music."

"“So, what we decided is that in Mass Effect 2, I would do all the implementation, which was something I’d never done before,” he continues. “I had an amazing assistant called Brian DiDomenico who worked with me in my studio every day; he sat in my vocal booth with a desk and a PC, and I would send him my tracks, he would implement them into the game, and I would do a play test there and then. And we would tweak it until it was really good … BioWare was known for only putting out a game when it was ready, and so things got delayed a lot, but fans were super happy when they got it.” Wall remembers finishing the game, noting that the whole ending sequence came through “in little tiny pieces of video that were spewed out by the game engine”. He took the files and fed them into a movie editor on his Mac, pieced the ending together, and edited Suicide Mission into it. He then wrote different endings to the track, reflecting the choices of the player. “It was the biggest mind-fucking thing I’ve ever done in my entire life,” he laughs. “And there was no one available to walk me through it, because they were all freaking out trying to finish the game. I handed it in, and they had to do a lot of massaging on their end in order to get it to work, but they did it … and the result is still one of the best ending sequences to a game that I’ve ever played. It was worth all that effort.” Wall did not return to score Mass Effect 3, the least well-received game in the trilogy. “Casey was not particularly happy with me at the end,” he says. “But I’m so proud of that score. It got nominated for a Bafta, and it did really well … [even if] it didn’t go as well as Casey wanted.” Talking to Wall, I sensing an almost Fleetwood Mac level of creative tension between him and Hudson; the duo made something amazing that would live in the hearts of sci-fi and RPG lovers for ever, but at the cost of some relationships. “Fallouts like that happen, it’s just part of the deal,” he says. “It’s one of the few times in my career that’s happened, and it was a tough time, but it is what it is.”"

i tried to give proper justification for all the pt to have their codenames here which for a handful of them meant their names are just. shortened versions of something else. so crow is short for crow poison. aka false garlic. its a type of flower :3. i mean theororetically crow would be a valid name but hes a rainwing here and it didnt seem like a very fitting name with that in mind? but theres a couple rainwings named after flowers i think. hes a rainwing for obvious reasons i think. id like to think hed have a very light color palette that shifts to this when he gives up trying to hide who he is. youuu can see that lighter palette in the art i linked earlier.

fox! which is short for snowfox. yes i know snowfox is a real canon name but yknow what else is canon? icewings have a big list of names they go down. so his name is snowfox. i dont have anything else to say here. like ofc hes an icewing hes YUSUKE. id like to think he left the ice kingdom to go to jade mountain (bc is it a wof au without jade mountain) to "broaden his horizons as an artist". which would be how he meets the other guys

Hey y'all, wanted to share my AU after a while~

Sorry for the lack of posts since I've got my exams, but there's one day to go so YAY!!!!

This is inspired by @kandykatz's Night Day Terrors AU!!

Story:

One day, IRK was sent on a mission having to do with Trixster....as usual. Things were going well, Trixster was somehow losing, not using his magic...IRK shrugged it off however, thinking he's too tired or "in-love" as usual. But at the last second, he hit them with his magic, making them pass out.

When they opened their eyes, they woke up outside. But things were off. The air was colder, and several...eyes & mouths are floating?? This isn't reality. Trying to contact their siblings & friends (via their phone) failed, no one seems to know them, and they feel that someone is watching them..

After the fight, IRK was declared missing & Trixster has gone radio silent ever since, causing concern for their friends. The rest of Sector FYI are still looking for them. Plantazia is worried & scared for her big brother, Adelle seems to be slightly suspicious with how fast they disappeared, and Numbuh 02 just wishes they were back. Sector BI also helped out, Melati was reluctant, but from Raya & Aliya, she hesitantly agreed, not wanting a friend hurt.

"Will IRK ever come back?"

"Jade" is actually a codename given to Charlotte by The Jeweler when she becomes a black agent of MI6. It's not only because of her eyes, but it's a codename that is easy to say/pronounce when communicating.

- Bit of MI6 lore! -

In MI6, there's a mysterious group of people who are specially trained since they were kids to carry out difficult off-the-booj missions with utmost efficiency. The members of the group are given codenames with the name of gemstones.

Oscar Fletcher (who was Helen Park's superior officer) was the founder of the group, and he personally picked out the members himself. These members know each other, but never work on a team. They're usually deployed on to different missions.

Jade's parents used to be a part of the group with the codenames "Garnet" and "Ruby". After years and years of endless black assignments, both of them decided to run away from MI6 and found little Jade who was roaming the streets as her orphanage had got destroyed from an attack.

After a month of running away, The Jeweler caught up to them and non-lethally shot Garnet and Ruby to proclaim them as dead, allowing them to restart their lives, but took little Charlotte to be their replacement.

So there's a little bit of (fictional) MI6 lore! It's actually an important part of Jade's story, and I got too much time on my hands LOL.

Emotional, but also dangerous: Sure Butterfly looks like she's a sweet presence among everyone, but at the same time, we shall not forget she's SAS-trained. When things get serious, she gets serious. During some missions (1 and 2), she has shown remarkable strength and courage by eliminating enemy soldiers in combat, as if she's a different person. The cheerful presence Butterfly holds among others has another dark side inside that she never reveals, but towards her enemies.

Can indulge with anyone, and is respectful: She'd love to make friends or teammates! It doesn't mean she doesn't give importance to anyone, but she especially bonds a lot with Soap. They two have been childhood friends since the start and everyone notices how close they both are and thinks if they two are a couple. Even if Soap is her best friend and he has a superior rank, she'd still respect him as her Captain. But sure, personally, they two engage like they used to.

Very empathetic: Whether it's a random person or not who is dying in her arms, it breaks her. It happened once when she tried to save a person who was losing their life and in the end they couldn't make it. It makes her want to blame herself a bit, thinking she didn't do her duty right, even if everything wasn't in her power. Also, if she sees anyone in distress, she's able to console and help them in time of need, the reason why Scarlet is able to sympathise and understand others well.

BACKGROUND STORY

Born as Samantha Wright, she lives in a small town in England with her father, Albert Wright, who is a former SAS-soldier under the codename "Bolt", and mother Elizabeth. When Scarlet was a toddler, she used to hear stories from her father about him working in Special Air Services, an elite special forces unit, and retired the day when his one leg was brutally injured that made him unable to walk or run.

Those stories gave Scarlet an idea to also join the SAS like him, but her father chuckled and said that right now she was too young to do so. Sometime later, she met John MacTavish, who recently moved into her neighbourhood from Scotland, but wasn't happy that he shifted away from his homeland. She wanted John to be her friend, and make him familiar with the surroundings so he'll get used to everything and love staying at his new home. And soon, they two grew closer, and became best friends.

They two had a similar goal — to join the defense. And one day, that day had to come between the two, when John had to leave for military school. Bidding her best friend a bittersweet farewell, unsure what future has for them in between, John encouraged her to follow her dreams. Taking that as a motivation, Scarlet kept John close to heart, while continuing her aspiration to join the SAS.

Her father got to know about her plan, saying that it won't be easy, since the SAS had the toughest selection processes. That sure unsettled her for a while, but didn't make her back off from her decision respectively. Instead, she learnt a couple of exercises, tips and tricks on self-defense from him that mentally and physically prepared her fully at the same time.

When she recruited herself in the selection process, it was an absolutely different experience for her. The way her mind drastically changed during the training quite traumatized and scared her, knowing what it feels to be in the SAS. But, keeping her father's words by her side, she didn't let the weakness and fear sink her in and moved on further. At times, she was ridiculed by others that she'd never be able to complete the process, but chuckled it all out instead.

The day came, when her hard work paid off, and she finally became eligible for the special forces. It was a blessed feeling for her, as if luck always stood by her side. And this is where, her journey begins..

【Reason's As To Why I'm Changing Thomas' codename】

Okay so, looking through Thomas' codename, "Jaden", and looking at his written appearance in my Google Docs (ginger hair and jade-green eyes), he looks like the genderbent version of @sleepyconfusedpotato 's oc: Charlotte "Jade" Le Jardin which is something I did not want since I don't want to seem like I stole someone's oc.

Thomas' codename is supposed to be similar to the Jade Vine Flower (but the male version of the name Jade).

But now I changed his codename to "BULLET" which has a more satisfying ring to it that fits more of his character (and has a ring to it when Ximena 「my oc」 speaks).

"Bullet": It is both a British and French origin name to it which I want since Thomas speaks French as another language besides English.

The name Bullet is supposed to be fast and can cause damage (similar to Thomas' speed and strength on the football field.)
