Let me write this before I lose my line of thought, (Again another RANT for the weak of heart)

but I think BH needs to lose something that matters to them, I'm talking true loss --- not like losing Bertrand or Eshteross which they mostly didn't care about, or like losing the skyship which they sacrificed willingly, or 'losing' their newfound friends/lovers to a research mission that should've ended at least a month ago.

I could add Laudna to the above list since everyone knew we'd get her back eventually, but at the very least it gave them drive (which gave us one of the coolest battles in the campaign which was worth nothing in the end, hey Delilah...)

But lose something that makes them ache, that shifts their dynamic into life and gives them purpose --- like losing Dorian! like fumbling the Paragon's Call infiltration and losing that battle in Bassuras with three party members down! like dropping a ship on a wizard's head and meaning very little! like 'losing' each other across a communication-less Exandria when you thought victory was within your grasp! like aaaalmost losing a friend to a million pieces for a decision he made!

There's so much stagnation in Bells Hells that it drives me insane, they're not the same people from the beginning but maybe apart from FCG and a little bit Orym and Imogen, most of them are still committing the same fallacies as they did in the beginning.

VM show: ep 4 Seasons

he murmurs cue words that they subtitle a number of times throughout the show. they never show her saying them, so is he always the one, or? she’s less vocal in general in the show. they're planning to podium at Nationals in about 3 months, so it’s not their last home podium, but this entire season it seems like each milestone was hitting them as potentially the end

thanks to him being too impatient to wait for the dressing room, you can see there's some kind of mesh part under his shirt that buttons halfway up his chest - is that a separate garment or part of the shirt? to make it hang and stay tucked properly while he skates? there must be a lot of specialized details about costumes that we (i) have no idea about

this might sound strange, but as beautiful as Sochi was, i might like this version of Seasons better. there are many subtle differences in the music cut - this one gives the first section more time to unfold, the character changes happen several seconds differently in a number of places, and the timing feels more right somehow

what i get from this version which i never realized from the Sochi one is that while the music is scored for big orchestra, it's sentimental and telling a small story about two people almost like the soundtrack to a silent movie. it doesn’t achieve the timelessness of Mahler - it’s like a story from a different, older era - and somehow the characters of the different sections have more clarity here

maybe they later tweaked the small story to suit judges and to try to make it a gold medal FD, and it lost a bit of its essence. it's also why this ending in both versions feels a little off - the big timpani pounding and the orchestral climax is too big for the story. Seasons is like an art film and not a blockbuster and they couldn’t tinker with it to make it something it wasn’t, but they tried

but what a gorgeous performance - their twizzles are crazy, and the way the skating flows almost continuously, their connection, their extension. you can see a little more effort in the last lift, and they had an extended lift deduction, those might be the only evidence of his hurt back. this program has them running in a couple places, including between twizzles, and somehow it’s perfect

using this shot of the nervous moms for both the FD (left) and RD (right) in the same episode 5 minutes apart! thought zooming out would make it unnoticeable, show? 💀🤦🏻‍♀️😅

All designs were created by directly corresponding and working with the cast, which was both exciting and scary, lmao. In general that was the vibe of the whole thing because VM are legendary and critters are very passionate, so the pressure to get this right was high.

Some of the cast went with vibes and story, others with detailed references, but they put a lot of trust in me all the way and I was allowed quite a lot of freedom within the guidelines. I remember Kiki's design in particular because it was just right from the very start -- honestly the biggest thrill for anyone who has ever designed for a client before!!

The designs pull from many places, so some things had pre-existing designs. Legally though they were not allowed to be similar/copying any Legend of Vox Machina stuff - so that is why some things are very different (see Cerkonos).

I never noticed until this rewarch of VM that in the tenth episode, when Logan's on the phone with Connor's team so he can get Veronica in, he says that her name is Veronica with a V for virgin. Not only is that a throwback to the homecoming episode, which could very well just be that, and a nod to the fact that they were friends (like the line prior to that), but it also indicates, at least to me, that he was provoking her, but not provoking her with the outlandish, often explicit rumors about her (which he only does in front of a crowd, like later in the same episode when he says "ho ho... hoe" in front of his friends). Instead, he provoked her about something he knew to likely still be true: She is still a virgin. Which means that Logan was never really fooled by the whole story on Veronica. Sure, he started it, but we also saw from Pam on the Purity Test episode that he wasn't the only one who went out of his way to invent stuff, and likely the rumors became so outlandish and outspread that he couldn't create all, OR tell which was which---except he could. Cause he knew her. Other people might have been fooled, so called friends from before, friends who came to birthday parties and talked to her, but he knew her enough to know she'd never go to bed with someone outside of a relationship, no matter the 14 score on the purity test, pleasuring the entire swim team, giving handies for weed and a ride home. Cause he knew Veronica before. He didn't bat an eye at her private detective thing, he was frequently the one who didn't bend down because he was aware that Veronica was still Veronica deep down, when everyone else forgot, even Duncan. Which also explains why in later seasons he is so fiercely protective of her, when everyone else except for her dad would think that's insane and she doesn't need it. I don't know it just hits me sometimes that Logan might be the only person who ever saw Veronica as Veronica. Wallace adores her, but his first interaction with her was when she cut him down from a pole in front of a crowd. Impossible not to make that person into a God of sorts. On her first introduction, Mac pretends not to know her, but then says that Veronica was all people used to gossip about, and though she got close to being someone who saw it, she still truly only met the second version of her. Duncan definitely liked Veronica no matter what, but he was too passive and repressed to give true thought to it. She was his childhood girlfriend so she could be his 'new' girlfriend, sure. Makes sense. The only other person who truly understood Veronica was Lilly. In the homecoming episode, she says she should stop wearing those dresses, cause they weren't her. In her ghost form, she said they'd have so much fun right now, cause she was a rocker chick. She was the only other person who unconditionally loved and saw Veronica as Veronica, without parental hang ups, and she would likely be the only one brave enough to go up all of those people. But she's dead now. Which still leaves us with Logan. And in the very first episode, when Weevil and the PCH are smashing up Logan's friend's car, Veronica tells them to let him go, she doesn't want his apology. Because she knows that it's grief. Because she is new Veronica because of grief, which is the same reason why Logan is new Logan. Whoever wrote that our childhood friends are the first loves of our life was so right, man.
