Fame and Erato, Muse of Love Poetry

Description

The precise subject of this painting is not clear, but it appears to represent the Muses of epic and lyric poetry, Calliope and Erato. The figure on the right, Erato, is identified by her lyre—the attribute of the Muse of lyric and amorous poetry. The figure on the left is more difficult to identify because Conca did not follow closely the standard representations of allegorical figures. The presence of the globe and of the compass held by the winged goddess are attributes of Urania, the Muse of astronomy, while the book and crown of laurel are attributes of Calliope, the muse of epic poetry.

I appreciate those who adjusted my crown without telling the world how heavy it had become and spoke life to me when I couldn't utter an encouraging word. I'm grateful that I consistently cross paths with people who recognize the power and potential in others and take it upon themselves to congratulate, compliment, and collaborate - yet never try to compare, crush, or compete. I value individuals who authentically spread kindness, compassion, and wisdom everywhere they go and leave people better than they found them. I love when a person can love others and influence them to do the same. There is power in being a good person and an impact that reaches far beyond that initial interaction. Be someone who reminds others that there are genuine people in the world and inspires them to be great. Be the person you needed, yet may have never had. Be the one who shows others the freedom of truth by simply being yourself.

Their Crown of Thorns

And so they placed a self made crown of thorns upon a head. It was a head they had had developed via a Christian authority. The location they eventually had used had recently torn its church building down. It was as if the murderous plan unravelling before them had, this time round, been long in the making. It was interesting how the information of routines inverted and reversed for a simple maintenance of allegiance and power wasn't it?
