Bread Pudding

5 Slices day-old bread [stale]

2tbsp butter or margarine

1/2 C moist raisins

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 C sugar [separate 2tbsp of sugar from whole and leave aside]

3 eggs, beaten

3 C milk, scalded

1/4 tsp cinnamon

Toast bread and spread w/all the butter while hot. Arrange toast in | a buttered baking pan (10 1/2 x 6 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches) [27cm x 17cm x 5cm]. Sprinkle w/raisins. | Stir salt and all but 2 tbsps of the sugar into the eggs. Add milk | & stir to mix well. Pour over the toast & let stand 10 mins. Press | toast lightly down into milk occassionally so it soaks up most of the | milk mixture. Mix cinnamon w/remaining 2tbsps sugar & sprinkle over top | Place dish directly on oven rack. Bake at 350°F [approx. 180°C] for 25 min | or until knife inserted in center comes out clean and top is brown.

(Serve hot or cold. 5 to 6 servings)

Tip: you can microwave stale croissant for 15-20 seconds and it will become soft and warm and nice. Cut it open, put butter in it. Peace and love

Perhaps I will finally pick up calligraphy this year.

Not fully, not seriously, just enough to derive a style between my normal writing and something like Copperplate for use in special occasions. At risk of sounding narcissistic, I do quite enjoy my handwriting. All it took was a bit of time, some diligence, and a dash of self-reflection to have something which reflects me back to myself in a small and delightful way.
