It was that time of the month again where you'd get a call to go to them they paid you quiet a bit and of course you weren't the only person going... it was always a big big event. You head to the Iron Warrior's base near the city... most Chaos Space Marines' don't have bases but their loyalist counterparts do... though Iron Warriors are an exception not a norm. Though you weren't sure as the Iron Warriors didn't have too much friction with their "traitor" selves? You didn't understand nor really bother too.

The norm would be the fact that there is a Night Lord base being built somewhere given that there were now enough loyalist night lords demanding it. But you made sure your tools were sharp and everything was ready... you knew the only downside of the Iron Warriors was the fact that both loyalist and traitor elements kept pushing and vying for power within their own... faction?

As you backed your truck in and got out you could hear his crooning... he was old had that slightly withered lit to his voice as it croaked out of him as if he had ruined his vocal cords time and time again. "Missy so nice of you to join us." Drar the Warpcutter spoke and if you remembered he said he was the leader of a warband known as the Malefactors of Sin.

"Lord Drar... and hello Helios." You politely said as his Master of Executions followed. The big man behind him looked at you and you swallowed... you didn't get the feel good vibes everyone else got. Your eyes flicked to their weapons... to the skulls up their belt... and you had a feeling Drar enjoyed the fact you were afraid of them. "Where is Vasso..." You ask for the current "chapter master" and you watch Drar wave his hand.

"Busy. The child is going to work himself to death at this rate and I... took the liberty of playing host for him." He says with a grin, "But enough pleasantries... you're the final one to arrive." You flinch as his massive hand pushes against your back and you move into the hanger.

Chaos Space Marines of countless chapters and warbands were here all highly mutated. Heavy hooves clipped and clopped against the floor as centaurs made their way to the designated zone. You headed over to the other ferriers as Drar trilled his goodbye and Helios just gave a nod. You could see where other space marines were watching and learning how to take care of their mutated brothers and cousins as in the far corner you could see iron warriors guarding feral marines that took the offer for maintained care but do not want humans touching them. You could understand as it took you a long time to get over the wrongness of your clients.

At least they behaved better than horses, the massive hooves were clipped and trimmed even polished if they wanted too. The utterly massive Black Legionary stallion... Troc was his name, he would have been such a pretty black horse, brought his own shoes... shiny brass things. He liked his hooves painted a nice solid black.

You could hear Adamatar bellowing as the white minotaur had hurt one of his hooves and so trying to get him to behave enough to put a block on his hoof was feeling like an impossible task. You could spy long tails wagging as fur coats were being brushed... a canine centaur of a Night Lord was half asleep as he was getting his jet black fur coat groomed and nails trimmed on his paws. You trimmed the frog of Troc's hooves just shaping his hoof as he was currently gushing about his bonded... a little girl who had a habit of calling him "pony" or "horsey" when she got overly excited and also calling him "Truck".

The shiny iron horseshoes of a bulky draft of an Iron warrior caught your eye. They certainly liked to feel pretty.... you shiver as a heavily mutated space marine lumbers past... organized chaos of it all and you're getting paid enough that it makes you not have to worry about the slower times of the year.

You could see someone with their body leaning into a massive stomach maw just cleaning the teeth of the marine. You stop looking as you hammer in his shoe and work on cutting the nails and then applying the black hoof polish.... rinse and repeat.

Sure they cooperated more then an actual animal but it was still a lot of hard work. "Hey!" You snapped at someone's apprentice. "Don't just walk behind them!" You said pointing out the fact that they were just walking right behind the centaurs. Which if he was working with actual horses was bad practice.

"They won't kick." They countered back.

"Yeah but they still can't see you and when you work with an actual horse they will kick if you walk right behind you. Give them the same berth as you would an actual horse because if one of these boy's kicks you're going to die." You huff as you resume working on the hooves of the Iron Warrior as someone was working on his horns... it was sometimes easier to do multiple tasks on the same marine as they kept still.

Lunch was provided and it was nice... it felt normal to have that lull in working as you grabbed a coffee as you worked in shifts... went around inspecting other's techniques... watching how some of them were teaching their apprentices, in various fields, or how they were teaching the Astartes on how to take care of their own. Sometimes a feral marine would be brave and try to get taken care of by one of us "mortals" but you never volunteered you had plenty of Astartes asking for you to work on them personally.

But the day blurred on by till you were getting handed a stack of cash of a few thousand dollars with the hope that you would come back same time next month and as well as the cavate that if something changed they would inform you. Again you see Drar as you head back to your trunk and a cup of coffee, that looks so small in his hands, is given to you. "What's this for?"

"Job well done?" He croons.

"Ah yes the usual hush coffee so I don't tattle on Vasso of you playing chapter master huh?" You say ignoring the scowl on his face as you sip the coffee, "or... is it hush coffee to keep me from tattling again to Vasso because you enjoy scaring people?"

"Mouthy little mortal aren't you." He hisses as you cow slightly, far too tired to not be filled with dread as he moves far too smoothly for something so big. He spat to the side, "But something like that."

"And like usual I'm going to be the last one to leave because you like chatting." You say tiredly as you drink the hot brew that made you feel tired. You had enough for a hotel in the city for tonight though... beds were always available here at the fortress. "I have a feeling you're going to chat me up so long I might just have to spend the night."

Drar laughed, it was hardly a pleasant sounding thing... it was dark and ominous... it was downright an evil sounding thing that ended rolling in his chest till it quieted. "You look exhausted."

You just drank the coffee to prevent yourself from making a 'captain obvious' joke, "I might stay tonight or at least get a few hours of shut eye."

"Then let me play the good host once more." He crooned and you just locked your car after placing your tools inside... just a few hours of sleep then you'd make the drive home.

(Good gawd I'm sorry this became a way longer reply than I thought it would be since I ended up rambling a lot (typical of me!) I'm so sorry 😭 if you're gonna read this post you're probably gonna be tortured so fair warning in advance before you delve into my little rant)

I wonder if you'll still see this if I reblog it...? Hopefully LOL- I'm new to Tumblr as I said so I'm just figuring out some things- it honestly is a little hard for me because well- the reason me and my best friend came together is because of Once-ler so he means even more to me. Its just a little sad that I see them go since we had a lot of memories together about him I've just accepted it for now but it's getting sort of lonely being so in love with a character and nobody is really there to understand that if ykyk. Maybe I'm just being sad because I haven't even talked to anyone for months on end and it's starting to drive me crazy lols.

Okay I had to draft this so many times because I was reading your links to the posts while trying to remember everything JSJSJ but yes I have thought or assumed that the fandom has changed a lot over the years so much- And hey I love dedicated people! Idk why but seeing people leave (me) so often without mostly limp reasons it always made it hard for me to make friends easily so to lose THOSE friends too...yeah. A bit of a twist to the knife but I've grown to accept it even if I valued them so much. Which is why i love onceler. His whole story in the movie was him being abandoned completely at the end? Honestly maybe that's why people loved him when he first came out since they probably related to the stinging pain of abandonment and how it's portrayed so quickly that it almost symbolises how friendships, success, anything that makes you feel great pass ever so quickly...haha I'm going on a tangent here sorry (that's what I get for studying English literature!). But yep another reason why I love him so much is because hey! He MAY be a fictional character and he MAY not be real (ugh that breaks my heart everytime realising that) but that means he cant exactly leave you right? What drawn me to the onceler fandom is that people make different versions and ocs of him and honestly? I loved that. Seeing everyone's comfort oc of onceler made me want to do the same. So, already being a huge lover of music as well as onceler being one of my biggest fandoms ever, I decided to make music for him. Regarding the fact that people may not be comfortable with what people do with their onceler ocs...hm. I'm a bit scared if Ive done something that may be offensive since I looked into many askblogs, active currently or not and they always gave me inspiration so I made songs about them. God I loved the truffula flu so much that I made a whole handful of songs about it (for each character like Swag, Rocky, entre, 72 etc etc). My boyfriend who is in the onceler fandom and is also recovering from a few things that happened recently helped me with the guitars (we HAD to include it as the main instrument - it is onceler themed songs after all!). If this is offensive though dont worry, we didn't really share out the songs to anyone or made it public it was just a fun thing we did together in our studio. But we will stop if it is. We made our own onceler rockstar au called "Thneed! Look Sharp!" (heavily inspired off Roxettes 1988 album "Roxette! Look Sharp!" since we were big pop rock fans as well. We made songs for it as well and I even wanted to create an askblog of it but I'm conflicted because yes, my fear is that something so precious and private I've made myself with someone close...I'm scared it'll get ruined by people who unintentionally make stuff about it that I'm uncomfortable of.

And yes I understand that the fandom has changed a lot throughout, and it has died and come back during the years throughout (I even made a song circling about this thought - "Come Back Before You Leave"). For me, I found it a bit hard when the fandom started going since well, I found something new, SOMEONE new. The Onceler. He was so much more than just a fictional character, he was almost like a real person to me from how attached I am to him. If I never discovered him I would've never discovered my best friend, a type friend I haven't ever had in a long long time. And that's a big thing for me. That's what makes him so special, he gave me someone that I never thought I could ever have. I love them so much. But ever since they seemed to have left the fandom things have been a bit hard to the point we don't even talk for a month despite me wanting to talk to them. Ever since my boyfriend (who is aka their best friend) had a few unfortunate things happen and it's gotten harder...i haven't heard much of them at all despite me thinking I could rely on them since that's what they promised. It really makes me feel the way how onceler probably had felt when his family abandoned him and lord it hurts. So here I am, clinging on to him still because well unfortunately hes becoming my only source of comfort left. I'm holding on to him just hoping something good will come out, that's why I'm here on Tumblr. Its all a bit depressing really so I'll stop talking now lol. Onceler is also very special for me for many other reasons (a few mentioned earlier as well) and regarding the fact that yes the fandom I'm sure has changed especially on age varietys. The people I knew were in the fandom personally were all teenagers (like me) so I made friends with many of them quickly. When I made a tumblr account and looked at the askblogs from 2012 the authors seemed to be all in their 20s. It was interesting, all the onceler ocs were taken very seriously and the art! I loved it all. Honestly actually when I first started the fandom the first person I new related to it you since yours was one of the most prominent (and so beautifully stunning ofc!) I loved your Audrey ocs and it's what made me get Tumblr myself. You were always cool af from the start and even more so when I realised you were still in the fandom. Really admire that dedication, seriously. Even so, yes I agree. I suppose I'm just bitter from how hard things have been personally but I know i can't force people to stay. Still it's nice seeing people happy, it makes me happy too so I'll let them be. I just hope everyone who has drawn distant from me in the short period of time is okay, including my best friend....

Well maybe it's because I'm so new to the fandom still lol when you've been here for years. Its risen so quickly last year that it trended but now it's very hard to find anyone who is still active unless I go to Tumblr. So here I am asking on ask blogs that are active lol including yours. I am wanting to look for more friends (since my social life has been absolute shit but then again when is it not LOL) but ngl, your friendliness is contagious XD I've heard a bit about kilonova (author of idol-ler I think) who is one of my close friends (and mother figure even) and I've wanted to be friends with you ever since, but I was too scared to ask! All that aside though thanks for answering, not only it made me feel a lot better in general but it also gave me a huge insight on the fandom too!

Hey, this might be a long one (though I'm new to Tumblr so idk how this even works tbh) but I got into the onceler a year ago? I'm still morbidly in love with this guy and ngl maybe I'm just here because I'm feeling sad that all my friends have left him already and moved on- still I knew that you were in the onceler fandom since the start and honestly i admired you a lot for that for staying with him for so long jsjjs- I wanted to ask since the fandom comes and goes every so often, how was it like in 2012/2013? Everyone has told me that now is really tame compared to how wild the fandom was when the movie came out and hearing about it I really wish I was there to witness it (i mean I could've but I was only little kid lol). Another question though how do you feel about the onceler fandom being revived then dying a few months later? Ngl it makes me feel pretty sad for onceler for some reason lol it just makes me think about him rising up to fame and success then falling back being alone again and the cycle continues. Still I know some are still active which gives me comfort

Hello! Aw it's always bittersweet when a friend loses interest in a thing you were both into but sadly it's part of life :,) As long as there were no hard feelings then you can cherish the memories you made together.

^And related to that last link, this is one of the reasons that the fandom seems to "die" every so often I guess? People get inspired and make onceler ocs and then they eventually get deoncelerized and used in other projects, and I don't think that's a bad thing at all. The Once-ler is a fictional character from a book/movie so I don't feel bad for him, it's the real people that are/were in the fandom who matter more and it's really cool and heartwarming to see people have fun and make friendships that last beyond their time in the fandom. So all in all I think it's okay as long as our friends are happy. We can't force someone to like something.

All that said though, I think our perceptions are a bit different currently because I feel like the fandom has been booming for the past year? 😂 Idk it seems really active to me at the moment!

Hi!

I think Harry would behave pretty differently in any relationship he's in since Harry takes a lot of social cues from whoever he's with. Like, his friendship with Ron is different from his friendship with Hermione, which is different from his friendship with Luna — like, Harry fits himself to whoever he is with. (I think it's in large part due to his background and low self-esteem)

Like. The most major difference between Ginny and Cho and any guy he might get with is how much Harry cares and whether he actually knows the person. Because I mentioned with Ginny and Cho how Harry does a lot of projecting and doesn't really know them as people. Like the second anon said, it was because he needed a girl to appear normal — to feel like he was a regular teenager.

In general, Harry, as a romantic partner, when he actually cares about his partner, would probably be incredibly loyal and attentive. We know he can pay tons of attention to any tiny detail when he cares. He'd probably be able to read his partner's moods so well because he'd bother to observe. With his intuition and attentiveness, it would almost be like Legilemancy (but Harry would never, he just knows how to read people he cares about). He'd probably be very protective of his partner (as we see him with his friends). He's the kind of guy who'll step in front to shield anyone he cares about. And I don't think he'd fall for the trap of overprotectiveness with a partner he actually likes, respects, and sees as an equal.

He'd probably not be one for pda or initiating physical affection in general, but over time he'd probably become more comfortable with it in private. I can't see him wanting to broadcast his relationships to the Wizarding World beyond making sure everyone knows he's taken so they'd shut up and stop asking him about it. He just strikes me as a private sort of person.

He's a pretty thoughtful gift giver, so there's that, too. I think Harry doesn't speak up his affection often (I mean, with his childhood, it's no wonder), but he'd show it. He'd be super attentive and thoughtful, and he'll say how important his partner is to him even if it'll take him time to get to "I love yous."

We do see him being pretty jealous over Ginny, so I think it'd be worse if he actually cared about the person and didn't just delude himself he does. Like, he'd have the most deadly of glares saved for people who talk to his partner.

Like, regardless of anything, he'd probably be pretty awkward about the whole relationship thing when he actually cares at first. Like, he was pretty awkward when he thought he had a crush on Cho, when he actually has a crush, it'll be worse, but also better. Like, depending on when in his life and the specific circumstances having actual feelings for his love interest could make him more or less awkward.

But besides that, with every partner, Harry would be different.

I made no secret of the fact I'm no Drarry shipper l, but I think Harry and Draco would have a similar dynamic to canon, in a way. Like, they'd be a bit obsessive, super competitive over everything, Draco would thrive on every bit of Harry's attention. Harry is pretty quiet, so I could see Draco speaking more often, and Harry'd listen. Kinda like how Harry is with Ron and Hermione, where these two talk more than him in conversations, but Harry doesn't mind because he likes listening to them, so the same thing.

Depending on when you get them together, the dynamic would also change. Post-war Drarry and Hogwarts years Drarry have a very different flavor to their interactions. With post-war Drarry having more of an understanding of each other, as Draco already had his major character growth. Pre-war, they'll have a bit more struggles in the getting-together phase. I think post-war drarry would work better, because, before it, I think Draco is just, very immature compared to Harry. Like, Draco acts his age, he's a dumb teen, but Harry, even as a child, is a bit mature in certain ways, so I think there'd be clashes there.

Nottpott is a ship im fully behind. Theo is as quiet as Harry (even quite), which would encourage Harry to externalize a lot of his thoughts, same as he'd encourage Theo to do. They both had crappy childhoods and share a lot of experiences, so they're on the same page from the get-go. Like, I think they're both experienced with having the maturity of being forced to grow up a little too early.

I imagine they chill with sometimes just sitting quietly together, with Harry filling in the silence more often than Theo (compared to Draco, with whom it'll be different). I think there would be less pda between Nottpott than between Drary, I feel Draco is more of a touchy person than Theo, definitely when it comes to the public eye. I think Theo would be boastful of dating Harry, not in the "I'm dating the Boy Who Lived" kinda way, but in the "I'm dating the best most brilliant person I know" kind of way, which Harry would get super bashful about (I'm all for anything that raises Harry's self-esteem). On the other direction, I think Harry would bring Theo out of his shell and unteach him a lot of crappy coping mechanisms and re-teach him to show more emotion.

I see Theo as more ruthless than Draco, so he'd be like a Harry enforcer. Harry wants something done, Theo would find out how — poison, archaic rituals, dark spells, whatever else — Theo would find it and be willing to use it.

I like to think of Theo as an external self-preservation extension for Harry. Someone who tells Harry and shows him he is worthy enough to be protected because Theo would be willing to endanger himself for Harry's sake (something he won't do for anyone else). (I think this last paragraph applies to Drarry too, since Draco has more self-preservation than Harry. Although, that's not a high bar. But he doesn't like seeing Harry in actual danger even in canon). The idea is that I like pairing Harry with a partner who doesn't want him to put himself in danger while not treating him like he's made of glass (cause he'd hate it), unlike Ginny who finds Harry endangering himself dreamy and part of the "Boy Who Lived" ideal.

So, yeah, I kinda rambled here, but I think Harry would be a really considerate and attentive, if awkward at first romantic partner if he actually cared about his partner.
