How long does one rot on the inside until the outside begins to slip away as well? The gradual decomposition until there is nothing left.

Hello!
A thing that I think a lot of people don't know about dead bodies is pertaining to rigor mortis.
Rigor mortis is a physical side effect of dying; it is part of the decomposition process! Rigor mortis refers to the stiffening and contracting of one's muscles after their death. This results in the body becoming stiff and often stuck in the position they died in.
Now, I think a lot of people know that. What I think many don't know is that it isn't permanent. Rigor begins to set in about 2-3 hours after death, starting in the neck and jaw. From there, it spreads around the body until the entire body is in rigor, about 12 hours after death. The body is in full rigor until about 24-36 hours after death, after which the body will begin to loosen up again as more of the cells in the tissues die.
These times aren't exact, as every body is different and so are outside conditions, and those factors can change a lot about decomposition, but that is pretty much the gist of it!
Anyway, that's just something interesting, and as an avid fic reader I spot some inaccuracies (especially in the Phandom). It's not a make or break, but I hope this is interesting to some of you!

Alright so I’ve wanted to say this for awhile and it is actually my primary reason for creating this account lol. Just to clarify first though, I love horror, and more importantly I love unrealistic horror so please take everything I say with a grain of salt and do not think I’m trying to tell anyone how to write as that is not the case, I simply am really interested in this kinda thing and believe in the sharing of knowledge.
Anyways,
Embalmed bodies don’t really rot.
Embalming is the preservation of the body by replacing the blood with embalming solution and some formaldehyde, it makes the body a unfavourable food or nutrient source for any kind of bug or microorganisms which would cause decomposition.
If someone in your story is dead and you want them to be a rotting corpse then most realistically they’d have had a direct burial since embalmed body’s arnt supposed to decompose and typically if there was an open casket an embalming would have had to have taken place.
Again this does not mean you have to change your story or how you write in anyway at all, just wanted to share the reality for anyone interested.

A silly little poem I made up while walking in the forest this morning:
Oh to find a mossy log,
To sit upon, like little frog.
Like the worm inside it knows,
Life's purpose is to decompose.

May the carrion birds devour your flesh, and the wild dogs run off with your bones.
May the rains wash away your scent, and once you have been reduced to dust, may that too be carried away on the winds.
When all that remains of you is a faint imprint in the earth,
May the flowers that bloom in your place wear the color of your eyes with pride.

Stages of Decomposition #2
Second Stage: Bloating
Once autolysis has occurred, the bacteria within the body begin to produce various gases, these include gases such as ammonia, methane, carbon dioxide, etc. which result in the body bloating - during this time the body can temporarily double in size.
At this stage of the process, putrefaction will begin being produced, as well as the discolouration of skin and the presence of specific insects that have been drawn to the corpse by the odours being released.
The insects present on a corpse allow for the Post-Mortem Interval (PMI), also known as the time of death, to be determined via the study of forensic entomology. Certain species of insects will only be present upon a corpse within certain stages of the decomposition process. The species, as well as how many generations of these insects exist within the orifices of the body, allow for us to discover how long a body has been deceased.

The urge to lay in wet moss and slowly decompose is very high right now
