My History with Writing (how I gave up on my dream and then un-gave up on my dream)
Tumblr media
Writing, for me, began with my older brother. He was (and still is) a very smart student, one of those ‘class-favourites’ but cool enough to not be the teacher’s pet. Practically everything he excelled at, I tended to fail—math, science, sports, making friends, etc. All except for one.
My brother struggled to read, and I was a freaking savant at it.
If you’re the younger sibling, you know how it feels to have even a bit of superiority over your sibling. He might have been good at everything else, but I had this. Reading and writing was, for most of elementary school, the one thing in school I was good at, and the thing I was most often rewarded for.
In fourth grade I got a green star sticker on one of my short stories I wrote for a class assignment. My teacher invited me to read it out in front of the class. Given I wasn’t a “share work at the front of the class” kind of kid… This meant everything to me. I wonder if she knows at all the impact that green sticker had on me. I still have that story, and I still have that sticker, and I still remember that teacher. Shout out to Ms. Kokesh!
This love followed me to middle school. I joined writing clubs and groups and was mentored in writing all throughout my youth and teenage years, and still use what I learned then in my writing now. Writing was also how I met one of my best friends. It’s how we bonded then and it’s how we still bond to this day, over a decade later. But then I started to grow up. I entered that stage where childhood dreams need to become adulthood realities, and not all our dreams are totally realistic. I’m jealous of people who dream of lucrative careers. Like, naturally their passions take them towards dentistry or engineering or something. I really wish I had a passion for boring things (kidding) but unfortunately nothing else clicked for me.
In highschool a teacher asked us what our ‘spark in life’ was to help us figure out our career path. I did not say writing. I said film...
Keep reading on my website!

I do think Hugh Jackman had the right idea though. If I was assigned to play a role and that character, as an adult, allowed themselves to be that closely aligned with the concept of an animal, I would research that animal too, and incorporate a quirk or too [or a 100 blink and miss it subtle ones]. Listen, I have not known an adult who would allow for something like that -consistent animal nickname/call-sign] who isn't a furry or at least autistic about that animal, no matter how stealth, and who wouldn't at least know all about the little guys themselves. Like yes, Hugh has been mocked for not realizing Wolverines were real animals, but he was just so fucking close to getting the assignment better than most people.
[Let's address the clear signs of undiagnosed autism in Logan in another post, but really consider his mood and temperament issues under the lens of someone autistic, overwhelmed, burned out, and taught by toxic masculinity that anger is the only emotion allowed him, who cannot catch a break and is constantly dealing with sensory overload and then accused of "abandoning" people any time he tries to withdraw or take time away, and then has been convinced that any violent meltdown he has in the face of real or perceived threats, including fighting for his life, is a sign he's a bad person and makes him like an animal or worse... Tell me autistic adults do you not relate? Seriously watch the old series that 97 was continuing off of and tell me I do not have a point... But I digress...]
If I was writing/drawing the character [because I would never be cast to act him] I'd be pulling all sorts of cute shit... Like wisdom teeth.
You know how sometimes human wisdom teeth come in turned in or out 90 degrees? I have one like that. Did you know wolverines have back molars that are turned 90 degrees inwards because it helps them strip frozen meat off of bone? Logan was born and grew up way before modern dentistry and has that healing factor so it's plausible or even likely he'd have all his wisdom teeth, that they'd have cut in, and that they'd be turned 90 degrees inward. In my continuity, if you ever saw the character's dental scans -and you actually see bone scans of his often enough- you would notice his wisdom teeth turned in 90 degrees like a wolverine's. Almost no one would get the reference and it would materially impact nothing, but I'd put it in there just to be cute.
Just any innocuous and un-obvious thing a person has ever been known to do that would remind you of wolverines if you knew about them. Nothing super campy or overt, because someone put up on that kind of masculinity pedestal doesn't get away with overt campy shit, no matter how committed to the bit. But like, tossing any and all uneaten food in the freezer for later, because wolverines bury meat in snow to save it for later, and 100 little quirks like that. 100 little things that would have had someone initially look at him and go "you know what you remind me of?" and land on wolverines specifically and have it not seem forced. Maybe enough that everyone around him if they knew animals at all would all reach the same conclusion so maintaining the call-sign makes sense across memory loss and without him doing anything to enforce it himself.
it's not that they don't do this, it's that they stick to the overblown simple overview, like slightly exaggerated rumours of aggression, willingness to stand up to bigger threats, and the loner tendencies and leave out anything that isn't "badass" seeming enough.
Hugh's makeup artist also had it right, those little teddy ears and the round face shape of his facial hair are perfectly on the nose.
Incidentally, I think a suit with inverted colours and brown in place of blue and some more modern lines that pulled heavy inspiration from an actual wolverine's coat markings would actually be a great way to come up with something that's dark, modern, plausibly stealthy, but doesn't sacrifice the comic book camp for something grimdark. If you aren't going full yellow comic book, let me design the next battle suit. Like he is based on an animal that is rich black and browns with honey coloured stripes and you are not taking advantage of that creatively? If I can get a good cord for my phone I'll sketch something and upload it.

I want to learn more about Schwartz.... Maysix too...
OHHH I THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER ASK!!!!! PANDORA'S BOX HAS OPENED!!!!!! Schwartz and Maysix are both from my big oc story that lives purely inside of my brain called Protozoa Rainbow!! It's a lot of things!!! It's a magical girl story, its horror, it teeters on the edge of doomsday, it's my big metaphor for how mainstream entertainment can influence the government, it's my baby.
Schwartz and Maysix are both separate antagonists that appear in the story, and to make a VERY long story short, they are both not human. They are homunculi that the broader antagonists have been growing and experimenting with for decades; what began as humans trying to create an all-equalizer with their magical girl counterparts that could give them the same ability to transform and fight, has since turned into them trying to breed the ultimate bio-weapon that vaguely put will; "cleanse this earth of all war between man and magic, by ensuring that magic can no longer exist".
(also establishing this now since it might come up later?? All of this takes place in a giant theme park that's separated into sections, as well as a secret facility that is located beneath the park. They're technically separate, but the park provides a large amount of their funding, and many of the facility's employees work in the park as coverup. is this metaphor blatant enough yet?)
I'll start with Schwartz because out of the two of them, he's the significantly less fleshed out character right now (hell, I only designed him on a whim for an assignment the other week, lol).
Schwartz feels a lot of self-importance to put it lightly. He, like all other homunculi deemed powerful but not good enough for the broader cause, is supposed to partner up with a human and act as their weapon for the sake of that earlier, more passive cause. And he absolutely loathes the idea that his only purpose in life is to serve another as a weapon.
He is one of those who works at the park as coverup, being an acrobat in one of their longest-running circus acts, but he wouldn't really say that's where his passion lies either. He's a very lone wolf type of person because of his quest for independence, but as a result, he refuses to acknowledge that in order to escape out into the world and live independently, he is inevitably going to need help from somebody else.
He needs guidance because whether he likes it or not, he's very sheltered in the park. He's a lone wolf, but still very much a sheep.
Maysix is a little bit more complicated, since his entire existence also relies very heavily on that of another character that I'm yet to design; a absolute brick shithouse of a guy named Beaux'Varyss.
Neither him and Maysix work in the park themselves, with Beaux instead working purely in the facility as their under-qualified scientist who only has a dentistry degree, and Maysix being deemed "too much of a freak" by others to leave. Maysix is very sheltered, naive to a fault, a little bit childish, and loyal as a dog to Beaux in particular.
If Schwartz is independent and hates the idea of being a weapon, Maysix is the complete polar opposite. She wants nothing more in this entire world than to be Beaux's weapon, because to it, that's their life's entire purpose.
Beaux was assigned Maysix and essentially watched him grow from a sort of larval stage into a human before she was allowed to roam free, and like anyone who might attach themselves to some not-so-stellar belief system, seeing the ramifications of it all in the form of what very closely resembled a human being gave him an absolute crisis.
As a result, he became incredibly attached to, and protective of Maysix; always staying at his side, giving up his own room for them to sleep in, spoiling her rotten with stuff from the outside world that he thinks would make her happy (she really likes fish because they're in the water! She used to be in the water!), being on top of it with his health, and above all else, refusing to let Maysix be his weapon, and desperately trying to explain to them why that has to be the case without hurting them in the process (it doesn't ever work).
The whole thing about Maysix being "too much of a freak" to leave is more specifically in reference to how Physically unstable she is; like many of the other homunculi, she is one of hundreds, if not thousands of prototypes, all of which are flawed in their own ways. It's why they're reduced to weapons as opposed to THE weapon. To act as Beaux's weapon even once could destroy her irreparably. Beaux`Varyss wants to escape with Maysix. To run away and give him that happy life that he knows it deserves. And the truth of the matter is that it IS possible for them. They are a small, near insignificant blip in this facility; people who aren't worth the trouble to catch if they leave, because no amount of bad press could make the place's existence sound like any more than a conspiracy theory.
But that's not what Beaux is scared of.
He has dedicated so much time and so many years to this project, and so much extra time to fortifying Maysix's walls, keeping him within this thin veil of safety... He can't just back away from it now, because leaving would mean he would need to rejoin society. Rediscover his personhood. Abandon his beliefs instead of tirelessly convincing himself that he's still somehow fighting for something good.
He would have to take a good long look in the mirror and come to terms with the person he was manipulated into being.
And that terrifies him more than anything else in the world. It does him in further where he and maysix are less of a blip, slowly becoming more important to defense with the protagonist and her crew finding them as opposed to literally anybody else. Now, his and Maysix's window for escape is finally beginning to shrink, and it's easier for Beaux to convince himself that it was always shrinking; that he did all he could to prolong the inevitable as opposed to just taking that leap.
Now it's not a matter of whether or not Beaux wants Maysix to be his weapon, it's a matter of when he will have no choice but to make it happen.
With every second he wastes, he sinks with the ship, dragging Maysix down with him, and it will be the downfall of both of them.
AND THOSE ARE MY FREAKS!!!!!! Schwartz started out as a one-off guy for a school assignment and Maysix and Beaux are the world's loosest emduo expys that only tangentially resemble their starting points now. I love them and i am absolutely cheesed about them.
THANK YOU FOR ASKING ABOUT THEM!! YAY!!

Life in the Urele-Oresha-Cham fraternity was one endless and messy party.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Angela: Urgh, I can't believe you guys live like this! Disgusting!! Would it hurt to at least throw away the spoiled pizza by yourselves sometimes?
Justin: Not now, Angela!!! It's the last race of the tournament!
David: Yeah, I gotta focus.
Ripp: Get off my toes!!!
Angela: Ugh, whatever. Where's Dustin?
Tumblr media
Dustin has chosen dentistry as his major because he heard there was good money to be made as a dentist. Angela has always planned to become a marine biologist, so she already had a stable knowledge of basic biology coming to college.
Dustin: I'm a little stuck on this assignment...
Angela: Don't worry, I'll take a look at it for you.
Dustin: Thank you baby, you're the best!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Angela, thinking: God, the answers he put so far are all wrong... They don't make any sense! Did he even pay any attention in class?
Tumblr media
Sandra: Oh, you're on assigment proofreading duty too?
Angela: Yes, and it's quite worrying, the bullshit Dustin sometimes comes up with... How about you? Isn't David in—
Sandra: Communication technology? Yes, he is.
Angela: And you're in nursing! What subject is there that you could possibly help him with?
Sandra: Oh, I have no idea what any of this essay is about. He just feels safer knowing I've read it and made sure he didn't, like, accidentally use swear words in it or called his professor's mother a llama.

Here's an example.
I am currently unemployed and not receiving unemployment.
I do want to be employed again. I went through a time when I was having a health scare so I wasn't really looking, but I eventually got some help with that (because I had figured out Medicaid application, after some time; it's through the state healthcare exchange for me.)
But, my teeth are still bad. Like, noticeably.
I'm really afraid that if I go interview I will just not be hired. Maybe that's not legal, but who is going to put someone with bad teeth in any customer-facing position? (Which most entry level everything is.)
So, I looked and found out that in my area, if one has Medicaid, then a separate dental program is available.
So, I was happy for a bit, thinking, OK, maybe this is just another website and maybe some forms like with the healthcare exchange. I look into it. There is a site where one registers.
I did that.
But, they do not assign you a 'home' dentist. Even if you get the ID card, it's like the 'home' dentist apparently (?) populates from an alphabetical list unless you select one of the providers.
OK, so there's a provider list.
But it's a list of all dentists who participate in the program in any capacity. It is not an indication of dentists who may accept you specifically. And there's so far as I can tell no filters. Like, there sorta are search filters, but it's not for "accepts patients your age".
From what I can tell, it seems to be that the idea is that you the patient will dial phone numbers and go down this whole provider list asking dentists to accept you?
Like, this was not how the general healthcare worked. In that system it was like OK pick one of these big national medical center type providers and you'll receive an ID card and assigned doctor and this big medical center chain has helpful websites so that once you do figure them out, you rarely have to use phones.
The dental thing is not that.
So, I was copying the text of dentists with phones and addresses and pasting into google and searching to see if they had websites with more info. Most do not even have one. Who in business does not have some online presence?
OK, some do. They are the cringiest stock template websites with email forms that are non-functional!
(But I who at one time bothered to study web design before everything just went to templates and apps am unemployed?)
Anyway, I finally get a dentist who has a working email. They CALL me days later. Ask a few questions. I answer. "Oh? We don't work with patients your age."
I suspect a lot of these dentists participate in the program in order to treat low-income children. Which is fine.
I wouldn't want to mess with a middle-aged person's gross rotting teeth. Except, I am that person! Like, I drank [redacted] brand cola all day from like tween years into like my 30s? I have a history of depression. I had old-school metal braces as a teen that didn't actually straighten my teeth but left marks on them. My town doesn't put fluoride in the drinking water.
So, then, I'm like, I have no idea how to find if any of these dentists actually will accept me. I tried emailing the support email of the program's site itself to ask if I wasn't understanding a filter. No response I can see.
So, I start looking at charities. Or dental schools.
There's like 'affordable' dentistry at a state university but it's a big drive for me in my 17-year-old car, there still is a fee, and you commit to a several-hour visit because the students need to slowly go through all the things. And that's just an initial visit, no guarantee they get to the actual work you need, which would mean more visits and more gas money I don't have.
OK, a clinic? There is one. It's not really for people who have coverage of any sort. To be accepted you have to fill out a form about 'household' income. Well, I live with family, but we don't share money. How am I meant to fill that out?
Meanwhile, no one in my family has been 'the poor' as much as me. They've been a little poor at times but eventually employed. None of them have ANY idea how assistance programs work. So, I can't ask them for help with how this is supposed to work.
Even saying this, I am feeling like someone is going to read and just be like: "Why not get a job where you work in the back and not with customers?" "Why can't you make phone calls?" "Where's your husband?"
Where is that job? I had a job in an upholstery workroom that I lost because the whole upholstery department (mainly me) was not profitable and just went away. Sure, I would like to find a job like that, if I could, but like, that's the same job I lost and have trauma about losing.
I can physically make phone calls, but the amount of psyching up and the amount that it drains all of my mental energy does not make phone calling in any sense cost-effective for me, especially if the expectation is I go down a whole list of numbers.
Like, why can't there be functioning online forms? Or a main office where a social worker tells you what sort of dentist will accept you?
Why doesn't the dentist office within WALKING distance of me accept patients through my program? Those nice dentists in town that people know from church?
(Yes, I know the demands that medicaid and related programs can make on providers are not ideal. Like, there can be annoying pre-approval procedures or low reimbursement. But actual people still need providers. If the governments gives those providers more (which may be fair) then you know who complains? Taxpayers complaining that assistance programs cost too much.)
Why can't single people who sometimes have entry-level employment afford to live anywhere? (Like, I get that I am fortunate to be at my parent's house for now, but it is NOT a mentally healthy situation.)
Anyway, so like, there are programs that exist. But they really can range in functionality and accessibility. Also, it's not always apparent that help is available. So first, one has to really search, in some cases. And then, even if you know a program exists, there can be steps in applying and getting approved/accepted. And even if technically you receive a benefit like limited dental coverage, it can kinda be meaningless if you can't find a dentist near you that works with both you and that program.

Academic Writing - Dinendri
26/06/2025
Task: - Merge yourself into an essay topic based on your essay and create an introduction (academic writing style - more than 200 words) You can make up fake research links as well.
e.g. the study of Hemansha's interest in the feline species
My essay topic :-
The study of Maria's present-day creative block
(I want to go with this essay topic since I am actually feeling this way. I currently feel burnt-out after completing all the projects for last semester. I also haven't made much effort to dedicate some time for myself to be creative at home since I procrastinate and I doomscroll on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram.)
Points for the essay -
Origin of Maria's creative block/ How this has obstructed her creative progress in her second semester module work/ How it has affected her motivation to begin her personal branding journey
Research articles that helped me -
https://media.proquest.com/media/hms/ORIG/2/2m8uH?_s=UsrJoTQfbkraTAVut%2F%2B3vQbOInU%3D
The study of Maria’s present-day creative block
Creative Blocks are periods where reduced creative thinking and productivity occur. Such blocks can take place during any stage of a project. This project will contain a broad exploration into Maria’s creative block and how it has hindered her growth and improvement in creativity as an artist. The first section of this essay will review the origins of Maria’s creative block and how it has obstructed her progress in the second semester module assignments. This section will also explore how creative blocks have affected her motivation to begin her personal branding journey. The second section will be an investigation into ‘Creative Block’: its factors, classifications, and mental impact on young-adult artists like Maria. The final section focuses on methods and interventions to assist Maria in regaining her focus and motivation to continue her artistic journey.
Pointers from Dinendri :-
( Think about the reader’s perspective)
Presentation slides –
Use formal language, must be easy for the reader to understand. Write in a strategic way where the reader can keep track of the topic.
Economic writing – don’t give power to the word count, reduce relative clauses
EXERCISE 1 (Remove relative clauses)
Tumblr media
Enamel, in dentistry, is a hard, white, inorganic material on the crown of a tooth.
A theatre is a building specifically designed for dramatic performances.
Pollution is a form of contamination (resulting) from human activity.
EXERCISE 1 (Remove relative clause OR keep sentence as it is)
Tumblr media
4. The company, founded in 1999, quickly became a leader in tech.
5. Students studying marketing must complete this module.
6. The student who achieved the highest mark was awarded a scholarship.
7. The scientist who discovered the compound received international recognition.
300 words for the introduction (since the total word count for the essay is 3000 words)
Critically evaluate a topic of your choice
what problem area are you going to explore in this essay? (one or two)
Use key word terminology in the essay (like art, animation)
Make your line of arguments clear
(Teel structure breakdown)
This section will explore this topic
Explain your topic sentence
Bring in references/examples/ research (at least 2 examples in one paragraph)
Explain your examples
Link your examples to the topic
Solid research is important, (chat gpt) no direct copy-paste, can get an idea on how to structure research

Future healer eyes each move I make
Dear Miss Manners: There is a relatively nice person who works near me in a busy financial office. They are talented and smart, but they have an annoying habit of interjecting a constant stream of unsolicited advice and warnings about health into every single conversation. They will warn me of the plastic in teabags as they watch me make a cup of tea, or the danger of using medical-grade masks to avoid viruses. They blurt out, “Milk — instant inflammation!” as I put cream in my coffee. They issue warnings of the dangers of tap water while I pour myself a glass, warnings about over-the-counter painkillers while I take one for a headache, and warnings about vaccines when I mention getting a COVID booster (gee, ever heard of tetanus or polio?). After a dental appointment, I got to hear about the hazardous chemicals used in modern dentistry. I have been told about the nanoparticles in every item ever manufactured, and the risks of every medication ever made. The advice is not without merit, but it is constant, interruptive, unsolicited and negative. It’s also become really annoying, and I’m contemplating avoiding this person. They have made an educational journey to become a healer after retirement, and I can see how they might have some success because of their desire to help people. But not in the office, thank you. I wish they would save the warnings for their future paying clients. What can I say in a short, humorous or simple way to stop this stream of warnings about every single move I make? Gentle Reader: All right, here is your acting assignment: At each warning, throw your arms up in an “I surrender” position, widen your eyes and say “UH-OH!” After you hold the pose for a minute, you can break into a smile. Three such performances should do it. If your colleague is nice — even “relatively nice” — Miss Manners predicts that you will get a return smile and fewer warnings.
Dear Miss Manners:
I was seated in front of two men at a hockey game, and every other word they said was the F-word.
I wanted to say something, but wondered what would be the best way to address them.
I thought about saying something like, “Hey, you look like smart guys, but your vocabulary makes you sound less than intelligent.”
Do you have a suggestion, or was ignoring them the route to take?
That is what I did.
Gentle Reader:
Thereby avoiding the likely response, which would be to F-off.
As offensive as that would be, Miss Manners cannot help seeing that it would come from a legitimate objection.
First, that they were having a private conversation, even if you couldn’t help overhearing it.
And second, that it is rude, not to mention ineffective, to go around correcting strangers.

Dentistry and Public Health There seems to be a lot more to prevent teeth decay than what is known. Even with oral hygiene and dentistry, tooth decay is still the most common phenomena linked to obesity, heart disease and diabetes. This is where public health comes in and is linked to dentistry. Public Health is composed of at least 3 factors: The first is germs where a dentist needs to be aware of the prevalence of germs in his own instruments and environment and the necessity of preventing and controlling these germs. The second concern is fluoridation of water. Much tap water is not fluourized and commercial mouthwashes too may have ingredients that may cause oral cancer. The public health dentist is aware of these Finally, dental sealant's applied to biting edge of teeth is another way that dentists can prevent oral decay Body Oral health predates dentistry since everyone has at least one oral disease and many of these are unknown and may exist even before the patient reaches the dentist chair. Some of these are carried through the dentist office, like germs transmitted in dentist's instruments, or non-fluoridized water, commercial mouthwash, or lack of sealants on teeth. The following three are key features of public health that the dentist can prevent: 1. Germs Hygiene in all aspects of the dental work is excruciatingly important. Germs can get passed around through deficient dental hygiene too -- through the work that that dentist does, through what he touches, through patients transmitting their germs to another simply because dentist fails to take optimum preventions. One of the instances may be patient drinking the same water that another drinks, both touching the side of basin whilst so doing. Another may be the dentist insufficiently cleaning his instruments, or not changing gloves between uses. Each and everything must be scrupulously scrubbed between patients. This aspect of dental hygiene is insufficiently known. I think that we should be more aware of it. 2. Fluidized water More than 100 million Americans live in communities where there is no fluorized water. This too results in teeth decay. Dentists who work on policies of Public Health urge fluroidizaiton of this water: "For improvement of oral health for entire communities, fluoridation is the most cost-effective preventive measure at our disposal. Fluoridation costs only about 70 cents per capita, and the measure prevents a tremendous amount of disease," (Centers for Disease) Some commercial mouthwashes may also provide some ingredient that has been associated -- still unreliably, but there nonetheless with oral cancer (Vecchia, Carlo La 2009). This association needs to be further investigated too and policies created against use and proliferation of these mouthwashes. 3. Dental sealant Cavities occur from acid demineralization of teeth where more than 95% of chewed food remains on teeth. 80% of the cavities develop within pits and fissures where brushing cannot reach. One simple way of preventing this is by painting dental sealant over teeth that prevent the food from falling into these grooves. This can have about the same impact as fluroidization and prevent at least 80% of cavities form occurring (Supertoothndk.org.). Dental sealants are a very simple measure to prevent teeth decay. Yet according to Dr. Allukian at least 85% of 14-year-olds have not had this type of treatment (Weintraub, 2001)). Two similar measures that the public can be informed of are simply: a. Chewing fiber such as celery that forces saliva in between grooves of teeth and pits and demineralizes the tooth better than something such as gum can b. Chewing toothpaste after eating can also help demineralize susceptible tooth due to the fluoride. c) Summary of your clinical experience based on the topic assigned Sources Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/oh/flfactcwf2.htm Supertoothndk.org.
