From the very beginning, labor law was written in order to destroy workers’ most powerful weapon, economic disruption.

The idea that the law exists to protect workers and “protect the right to organize a union” is a comforting fiction told by mid-20th Century liberals and exemplified by the New Deal compromise between capital and labor that was brokered by the state.
