Ive recently been going through the process of getting medicated for ADHD and that means testing and testing and testing all the different meds that could Possibly work but never seem to

I started with a medicine that made me pass out for hours?? When bringing this to the doctor, he didn't want to switch me despite my obvious distress about not being in control over my sleep schedule

Eventually, he switched me. Now, I'm on a med that I have to take twice a day: once in the morning and once at noon. It makes me lose my appetite due to sickness when thinking of food, talkative to the point that it annoys the people around me, and if I take the second pill like I'm supposed to I end up awake all night. However, I am focused. I'm doing the things. I feel... not good, but functional.

He put my brother (also has ADHD, but different) on a pill that he only has to take in the morning and it seems to work for him really well? I want to switch to that but my doctor seems... unwilling to do so? I'm not sure why and honestly I think this is a sign I need to switch doctors.

He won't listen to me, he doesn't care about my concerns or what I KNOW is best for myself, he even dismisses what my mom thinks is best for her and my care.

When your doctor leaves false statements about you in their notes so you go to patient portal to call them out

yes, doctors suck, but also "the medical ethics and patient interaction training doctors receive reinforces ableism" and "the hyper competitive medical school application process roots out the poor, the disabled, and those who would diversify the field" and "anti-establishment sentiment gets applications rejected and promotions requests denied, weeding out the doctors on our side" and "the gruesome nature of the job and the complete lack of mental health support for medical practitioners breeds apathy towards patients" and "insurance companies often define treatment solely on a cost-analysis basis" and "doctors take on such overwhelming student loan debt they have no choice but to pursue high paying jobs at the expense of their morals" are all also true

none of this absolves doctors of the truly horrendous things they say and do to patients, but it's important to acknowledge that rather than every doctor being coincidentally a bad person, there is something specific about this field and career path that gives rise to such high prevalence of ableist attitudes

reminding everyone that the in-universe problem with The Doctor and The Master isn’t “ooo horrible nasty enemies who hate each other and don’t get along and fight all the time but are also in love”

the problem is that they get along. the problem is that they can’t stop themselves from falling naturally into a rhythm of riffing off one another and enjoying the other’s company. THAT is the problem. the problem is that it works and that’s the thing that caused all their issues. they like one another. they just click.

last thing i'll say on it for now but disney cutting andor down from 5 to 2 seasons and only ordering 2 seasons of doctor who when the creative team has scripts for up to 4 seasons ready. idk maybe the largest entertainment company in the world should have more faith in two huge sci-fi franchises

Sampo doesn't know how he managed to fall asleep that night or remember even closing his eyes. One second He was staring at the ceiling, consumed by the dread pooling in his stomach and the impossible desire to keep Gepard safe and to himself as he listened to his quiet breathing in the other room, then he was jolted awake by a hand over his mouth.

Panic, raw and sour had him wide awake. He thrashes, trying to reach for his blades before realizing he’d taken off the holster and left it with his daggers on the floor by the door. (A mistake-- he never leaves himself unarmed. He’ll chastise himself for it later.) He throws his hands out and claws at the arm pinning him desperately, breathing heavily as he bites the hand over his mouth. 

“Sampo!” Gepard’s voice is a harsh growl but he doesn’t get off of Sampo, smacking his thrashing hands away. “Stop. Stop!” He hisses it out, eyes wide and fierce with fear that doesn’t register in Sampo’s brain, clouded by the adrenaline in his blood and the feeling of being trapped. Gepard grunts, his knee pressing on Sampo’s sternum and the splints digging into his stomach.

“Sampo, please. Please. ” It’s a whispered yell, desperate. Gepard is breathing heavily, hair matted to his forehead with sweat. He keeps glancing up at the door; his shoulders are shaking. Sampo can feel his words on his face when Gepard looks down at him again, his nails digging into Sampo’s cheek. “Quiet, be quiet, Koski. It’s-- it’s…” Doctor, the problem's in my chest, Chapter 5 by @shoezuki I couldn't help myself but to draw another fanart for this epic fic, it ruined me so badly 😭 waiting for the next update more than anything

it’s wild to me that like every modern adaptation of Sherlock Holmes (and by modern I mean “made recently” not “set in modern times”) is like Hell Bent on coming up with a Reason™️ that Watson stays with Holmes and trots around with him on adventures all the time despite the inconvenience and the danger and all, and so it’s like “oh, Watson’s a gambling addict, he loves uncertainty and mystery” or “oh, Watson’s an adrenaline junkie, he gets off on being constantly in danger from criminals” or even like “Watson’s atoning for sins of the past of BEING IN THE WAR by solving crimes with Holmes now” or WHATEVER. And it’s like, girl, maybe he’s just in love! Did you think of that?? Maybe he’s got a crush and it’s making him do stupid things. Maybe he’s just got bad taste and his type is guys who don’t know how to refold newspapers properly but can identify different types of cigar ash by sight, smell, and taste. And wrote a monograph on the subject. Maybe he’s down bad is all. I mean, Keep is simple, stupid!!!
