I really love all of the fics you wrote! Can you do Bucciarati gang with reader who’s great at rhythm games? Games like Osu or DDR.
<33 thank you!! lol words cannot describe how bad i suck at rhythm games haha- anyways sure, ty for requesting and i hope you enjoy!
Bucciarati
He’s supportive from the start, even if he doesn’t totally understand how the games work.
Watches you play Osu with a respectful, hands-behind-his-back expression like you’re performing surgery.
When he sees you play DDR for the first time, he smiles proudly like a soccer mom.
“That was… incredible. I didn’t know a human body could move that quickly without a Stand.”
Offers you towels and water between sessions like a coach.
Once tried to play with you and had the stiffest, most awkward footwork you’ve ever seen- but he was so serious about it you didn’t laugh.
“Perhaps I should leave it to the professionals, eh?”
Always claps when you get a full combo.
Giorno
He’s fascinated. He watches every detail and picks up the mechanics unnaturally fast.
Secretly tries to practice when you’re not around. One day he nearly matches your high score and you're like “??? Have you been TRAINING?!”
“I merely observed your form and committed it to memory.”
No Giorno. You grinded on Extreme Mode every night.
If you do a VR rhythm game like Beat Saber, he’s entranced by the flow of movement and asks philosophical questions.
“It’s like a dance of light. Is this what digital harmony looks like?”
You, sweaty and screaming: “I JUST FULL COMBO’D MELTDOWN ON EXTREME!!!”
Abbacchio
“Hmph. Pointless games.”
That’s what he says. But he peeks over your shoulder constantly and flinches every time you miss a note.
Accidentally gets invested and blurts, “Come on, hit the red!”
Then pretends he didn’t say it.
If you invite him to play, he rolls his eyes and acts like it’s a waste of time.
Proceeds to rage when he fails the tutorial.
“This game is broken. These arrows are bullshit.”
Eventually gets weirdly competitive and spends a week trying to beat you. He never does.
Mista
His mind is blown.
You’re jumping around on a DDR pad like a beast and he’s like “HOW ARE YOU DOING THAT??”
Tries to join you. Trips. Gets boo’d off the pad by the Pistols.
You try to teach him and he just flails like a confused duck.
“Wait wait wait- red arrow means what??”
Treats you like a gaming god. “I will give you my entire paycheck if you beat this song again.”
He talks a lot while you’re playing: “You’re like a ninja! You’re a note ninja!!”
Sometimes makes a little cheering section with the Sex Pistols: “Go Y/N go Y/N!!”
Fugo
Secretly thinks it’s one of the most impressive things he’s ever seen.
You show him your full combo on a 10-star Osu map and he pauses like, “That’s… actually really difficult. You have incredible cognitive processing speed.”
Starts breaking down the math of timing windows and BPM like a nerd.
“Did you memorize the whole chart? Or are you processing it live?”
You: “Uh. I just… vibe.”
He’s the only one who could keep up with you if he practiced, but he gets so mad when he misses one note that it’s not worth it.
Once rage quit and screamed “WHY IS MIKU LAUGHING AT ME?!”
Trish
Pretends not to be impressed, but she is SO impressed.
“It’s just pressing buttons in time, right?” she says, but her jaw is tight.
She tries it one time and dies instantly, then looks at you like you’re some mythical beast.
“Okay… how do your fingers move like that? Are you using a Stand? Be honest.”
Lowkey films you and posts clips online. “My friend/partner is literally insane at rhythm games.”
Starts requesting songs like a DJ. “Do the Pretty Cure one. You’re cute when you’re focused.”
Buys you pink fingerless gloves to wear while gaming. “So your hands don’t get sore. Also because it’s fashionable.”
Narancia
YOUR #1 FAN.
You are like a deity to him. He thinks you’re the coolest human being on Earth.
“BRO!! You just did a double spin kick!! YOU’RE NOT EVEN HUMAN!!”
Bounces up and down during your songs like a kid on sugar.
He’s awful at the games but so enthusiastic that it’s hilarious.
“WHY DO I KEEP FAILING ‘BUTTERFLY’?? THAT SONG’S FOR BABIES!!!”
You: “It’s okay. You’re still doing good.”
Narancia: 🥹💥💘💘
He tries to create a song just for you on StepMania. It’s mostly “BAKA MITAI” but with gun sound effects.

Detco movies rated based on how much shit gets exploded / destroyed
The Time-Bombed Skyscraper - the whole premise is about blowing up stuff, but it's shame no trains got got, 7/10
The Fourteenth Target - it's just an underwater restaurant that is pretty out of the way from anything else and we have no prior attachment to. bonus for the helicopter crash, 5/10
The Last Wizard of the Century - an entire castle does get burned down, but it's no explosion, 6/10
Captured in Her Eyes - just some regular old murder, 0/10
Countdown to Heaven - truly a 9/11 movie. point detracted for leaving the second tower intact, 8/10
The Phantom of Baker Street - the entire thing takes place in VR, so it shouldn't even count, but no one even gets their brain blown up :( 0/10
Crossroad in the Ancient Capital - somehow nothing gets bombed or destroyed? Conan tries a little arson but is unsuccessful, -1/10
Magician of the Silver Sky - a plane gets somewhat mistreated, 2/10
Strategy Above the Depths - a whole damn ship sinks, it's all very dramatic, 9/10
The Private Eyes' Requiem - despite the constant threat of exploding people, barely anything gets exploded. half a point for Kid using a gun on some windows, 1.5/10
Jolly Roger in the Deep Azure - i guess they do find that ancient pirate ship and it immediately falls apart, 5/10
Full Score of Fear - plenty of shit gets blown up including a concert hall while no one inside realizes anything's wrong. you'd think they'd have some fire warning system in place, 10/10
The Raven Chaser - sadly no explosions, but the tower gets shot at hard, and the helicopter does not end up fine, tho no actual crash on screen, 5/10
The Lost Ship in the Sky - only a research facility we don't care about gets exploded in the opening, and that airship barely gets scratched up, 4/10
Quarter of Silence - we have a train exploding out of a tunnel, a dam blown to smithereens, and an avalanche, what more could you want, 10/10
The Eleventh Striker - who can say no to some exploding stadiums, great movie for people who hate football, 8/10
Private Eye in the Distant Sea - just a rando ship at the beginning, who cares, 1/10
Dimensional Sniper - some police cars and incredibly light bombing of the tower, eh, 3/10
Sunflowers of Inferno - a cool museum gets absolutely demolished, the burning fake sunflowers are a lovely image, plus we got some proper plane mistreatment, 10/10
The Darkest Nightmare - both an explosive car crash at the beginning and a ferris wheel gets extremely destroyed, 9/10
The Crimson Love Letter - lots of explosions, and in beautiful scenery too, 10/10
Zero the Enforcer - destroying shit with a satellite is pretty imaginative, but there was not as much destruction as i hoped, 7/10
The Fist of Blue Sapphire - they're surfing on some iconic Singaporean landmarks, meanwhile an oil ship freely wrecks shit, 11/10
The Scarlet Bullet - i fully admit i have no idea what Masumi and Conan were trying to do, both the train and station ended up looking pretty rough. 10/10
The Bride of Halloween - for a movie about bombs not all that much significant shit gets destroyed, but they do go out in style at least. bonus points for covering Shibuya in goo, 9/10
#warning: not spoiler free#no movie 26 bc i have not seen it yet 😭😭💀#anyway. i put way too much effort into this tbh#detective conan#kostek original#kostek reviews

After finally graduating high school, Ford is ready to put his hometown far behind him, only to end up being abducted on his way to Backupsmore and wakes up on an empty sinking ship with a strange bracelet reading “6” stuck on his wrist… Eight other strangers have met the same fate, all with a different number on their bracelets, ranging from one to nine, and the group receives a message from someone called 0. Their anonymous captor gives them a simple order: participate in a deadly game to escape the boat or drown.
Been thinking about a 999/Zero Escape AU for a bit now! (aka “we may be trapped in a death game with limited amount of time to escape but we will ramble wikipedia articles and thought experiments at you” the game)
Puzzles and quantum thought experiments and digital roots galore! Honestly if he weren't late to college and also the whole. Threat of dying thing. Ford would be having a fun time. Probably.
Participants I’ve thought of so far:
2 - Snakeyes: a self proclaimed professional gambler but is apparently just an old sailor who works on a fishing trawler. Is far too laidback considering this is a death game. He immediately gets on Hex's nerves and seems to have fun doing so.
He’s pretty good at word and number puzzles but he's someone who knows more than he seems...
3 - Tri: calls himself a salesman, smells suspiciously of formaldehyde (the alleged reason why Snakeyes ignores his code name and calls him Hyde), may or may not be a cult leader/walking corpse from the 50s/a literal triangle. Is also far too laidback considering this is a death game.
Knows too much. Tends to let others take the lead in solving puzzles and prefers to observes as if they all weren't under the threat of death, has fun dropping cryptic and useless hints
5 - Star: This is a child. Who put a child on a sinking ship??? (SE calls her “pumpkin”) Is far too well-adjusted to the situation considering this is a death game.
Pretty smart in high tension situations but otherwise a bit prone to goofing off to help de-stress everyone, and tunes out when quantum talk is happening. With her weird girl powers, she can help provide a well needed unique perspective
6 - Hex: Had recently left behind a dream of sailing around the world, only to end up trapped on a boat. Great. (Snakeyes calls him ‘kid' despite there being a literal child on board who doesn't get called that. Tri calls him "Sixer" which definitely doesn't piss SE off, nope, not at all)
Is a sucker for riddles and can basically blast through any type of puzzles normally, but there's something about the ones on this boat that tricks him perfectly into getting caught up into the wrong train of thought which forces him to rely on the others
Spoilers for 999 and VLR (and probably won't make sense if you don't know the context anyway):

here’s a few thoughts I’ve had drifting around my head on @destiny-in-the-universe’s Project:Zero
Smack dab in the centre of every hero district is the Main hub (Zero Hub?), a place where everyone can go. It’s usually where evacuations happen, where troops are mobilised to handle threats the heroes are a tad bit lazy to go handle, and others, because god knows those residents need a respite from whatever our heroes are gonna pull.
Resident guides in the hub:
- Miko Kubota and Hector Nieves, AKA Miko and Five. Zero hub’s amazing (not really) tech support, they’re well-versed in all tech from many districts, and help their boss (Phil) to run the VR simulations system that allows troops to train, although its a bit…glitchy (eh? Eh?)
-Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher. Child prodigies who have built tons of useful stuff for the hub, although some of their ideas tend to be…comically overblown.
Zero agents, tasked with enforcing law and keeping peace, also ensuring that the heroes don’t go rogue, basically replace the Plumbers, Providence, Huntsmen, whatever super military that the show in question has. The most well-known is the high-ranking unit known as Kim Possible, who has pulled off some crazy missions in her time. She’s crowned as the resident “hero” of the Hub.
Resident hero of district 4, AKA Danville: Agent P, or as he’s more well known…PERRY THE PLATYPUS?! Perry is a literal platypus, but that takes away nothing from his heroics. He’s saved countless citizens in danger due to his ability to pull off disguise missions and infiltrations that other heroes would be too afraid (or too loud and screamy) to pull off. Probably the most little-known as he’s often parading around as a normal old platypus.
Resident hero of district 3, AKA the Providence science headquarters: Rex Salazar, or his other name, Generator Rex. Rex’s district is relatively tame and more of a science facility, but when shit goes down in that canyon, shit goes down. Rex is adaptable, quick on his feet, and has a far less privileged life than the other heroes…and tends to be a little spiteful towards them for it.
After a little team-up with the hero of district 10, the two become much closer together and begin helping to form the Zero squadron.
Resident hero of district 10 (he called dibs on that district) AKA Bellwood: Benjamin Kirby Tennyson, famously known as Ben 10. Ben takes great pride in protecting his own district, although he does end up with the most collateral damage at the end of the day. Bellwood is also a hotspot for alien invasions and the like, which may be partly because of their hero.
Resident hero(es) of district 9, AKA Vale: Ruby Rose, leader of team RWBY. Vale is far more technologically advanced than most of the other districts, and they do flaunt it to everyone. Every single person here boasts hyper-technologically advanced weaponry, save for that funny little blonde lady with kaboom gauntlets that make her punch hard. Being a relatively large district, it’s often plagued by dark, murderous creatures known as Grimm, seeming to be controlled by an underground source.
(For Randy and Danny, I figure I’ll let others take the lead on those, because while I’ve watched them, I’m not entirely super well-versed [ive watched little Danny Phantom, a ton Randy Cunningham] so it’s up to you guys. It’s just some ideas on how it works, but it’s pretty exciting!)

My Running schedule for Winter
Run Season eleven as released
Run the season 2 rerun (wish I had not re-run it as recently as 2022)
Run Marvel Move stories till christmas week
run the 5k Thor and Loki Marvel Move trainer starting christmas week/ when its too cold or snowy to run.
In Marvel move I have half the Xmen story left, then protecting Dr Doom, Blade, and the Doctor Strange/Scarlet Witch team up.
In the latest VR the app gave wrenches for the races themselves, not just the training missions. Eventually will see if thats true for prev races, and for new radio story mode. I used to post my runs to twitter, but eh, not feeling that place anymore. Trying to work out how to thread them on Bluesky.

"New repair tech just arrived on the bay. Is this the pilot burnout I've been hearing about?"
"Washout, not burnout, but yeah. Should be getting trained on the light class refit queue today."
"Same difference, right?"
"Not really. Burnouts pilot until their nerves are basically, uh, burned out. Used up? Twitchy messes that can't hold a spoon, let alone a wrench. Washouts are different. They get what's basically scar tissue on their synapse connections. Not like, actual scar tissue, just, dunno, metaphorical. They're still pretty much lucid, but can't do any brain interfacing after that, not even light stuff like the rec room full-immerse VR joy-cans. It—"
"Jesus, can't even get their rocks off on sim leave? I'd torch my fuckin—"
"I know you would, dickass. But yeah, but most of them bond with the mechs before they scar up, and it fucks them up good. That's why most of the washouts that can still run a welder switch to the bays or assembly or run the manual loaders, if they're lucky. Be careful though. They still got fight in them."
"Eh, sure."
"And if you hear something, someone, in the mech bays after lights out, don't investigate."

Ambulance Rolling
The ride was smooth — the suspension compensating for road texture with mechanical precision. A soft interior fan circulated disinfected air. Status lights pulsed calmly on the interior panel.
6CCW8 sat nearest the patient, visor still transparent. He monitored the vitals without staring. F295L sat opposite, his helmet held in his lap, posture textbook.
“You two seem young,” the patient said suddenly. His voice was a bit hoarse but amused. “I’ve got dress shoes older than you.”
6CCW8 glanced up, expression neutral but not unfriendly. “Yes, sir. We’re Cadets. Part of the Paramedic Cadet Corps.”
F295L added, “This is our first placement. We’re certified for patient transport. Supervised duty only.”
“Cadets, eh,” the man muttered. “Didn’t know they let schoolkids play medic these days.”
“We’re not playing,” 6CCW8 said evenly. “We’ve had medical simulations, trauma modules, and VR-based conditioning. The Corps certified us for this role. We’re still in regular school — but this is part of our training rotation.”
“Summer holidays,” F295L said, grinning. “Other kids get camps and internships. We get induction and ID tattoos.”
That got a laugh out of the patient. “Tattoos, really?”
F295L tapped his chest where the red flightsuit dipped slightly at the collarbone. “White stencil, upper left. Standard across all Corps Cadets.”
“Bloody hell,” the man said. “When I was your age, we were still learning CPR from posters.”
“You’d be surprised how much posters don’t prepare you for blood,” 6CCW8 said.
The man studied him for a moment. “You talk like you’re older than you are.”
“Conditioning helps,” 6CCW8 replied. “And so does waking up at 0500 six days a week.”
“Graduation next year?” the man asked.
Both boys nodded.
“Then conscription?”
Another nod. This time slower.
The man exhaled. “Still seems mad to me. Kids in armor.”
“It’s not madness,” 6CCW8 said, not sharply. Just the way they’d been taught. “It’s preparedness. We’ll be ready before we’re needed.”
F295L leaned forward slightly, resting his gloved arms on his knees. “Besides… once you’ve worn the suit for a while, you stop feeling like a kid anyway.”
There was a pause. The hum of the ambulance filled the space again.
“Well,” the patient said, smiling faintly, “if you boys are the future, I’ll take the lift.”
“Appreciated, sir,” 6CCW8 said, tapping gently on the interface panel. “Five minutes out.”
“Let us know if you feel anything out of the ordinary,” F295L added, with the kind of seriousness only a seventeen-year-old in armor can deliver.
The man chuckled again. “Out of the ordinary? Kid, I’m being driven through the city by schoolboys in red armor. We passed that a while ago.”
The road hummed softly beneath the wheels. The old man shifted slightly on the stretcher, eyes moving between the two suited cadets.
“So how’d you get into all this, then?” he asked. “One minute it’s after-school clubs, next you’re strapping me in like professionals.”
F295L grinned, glancing at 6CCW8. “We started volunteering at the local station. Basic first aid. Helping with equipment checks. Little stuff.”
“It was part of the Cadet Corps program,” 6CCW8 added. “We signed up around fifteen. You start with drills and health education, then disaster relief simulations.”
“Still wore civvies back then,” F295L said. “Blue shirts, black boots. No armor. Just helping out at events. Hydration tents. Lost children protocols. That kind of thing.”
“Then came summer camp,” 6CCW8 said, his voice leveling out a bit. “Six weeks. Full induction. Conditioning. Basic medical modules. Suit orientation. By the end of it—”
“—we weren’t civilians anymore,” F295L finished. “Not exactly.”
The man gave a low whistle. “And the armor? You ever get used to it?”
“Fast,” said 6CCW8. “It’s heavy, but it distributes weight well. And once the systems sync to your movement, it feels… natural.”
“Like a second skin,” F295L added. “One that talks back and makes sure your posture’s correct.”
The patient raised an eyebrow. “So it’s like a school uniform, but militarized.”
“That’s not wrong,” F295L admitted. “It tells people who we are. Or what we’re trying to be.”
“And what’s that?”
“Reliable,” 6CCW8 said.
They let that hang in the air a moment.
“We got our certifications in early fall,” F295L went on. “Passed the simulated scenarios, completed our ride-along hours. This placement is our first proper shift.”
“Supervised, of course,” 6CCW8 added quickly. “We're not autonomous. But we’re fully licensed for non-critical patient transport.”
The man chuckled. “Well, I hope I stay non-critical. Wouldn’t want to be your first code blue.”
F295L gave a half-smile. “We’ve trained for it. But we’d prefer not to need it today.”
The patient looked between them again, slower this time. Less like he was assessing and more like he was remembering.
“You boys proud of what you’re doing?”
6CCW8 didn’t hesitate. “Yes.”
F295L nodded. “Yeah. I mean—it’s not a game. We know that. But when I wake up and put the suit on… it feels right.”
“Feels like we’re part of something,” 6CCW8 said. “Not just watching it happen from the outside.”
The man exhaled slowly. “That’s more than I could say at your age.”
A soft chime echoed from the front cabin.
“Two minutes,” came VG5D3’s voice. “Receiving facility pre-alerted. Be ready for handover.”
F295L re-helmeted, visor down with a clean hiss. 6CCW8 reached to secure the final strap on the patient’s stretcher.
“Final checks,” he said softly, already back in protocol mode.
The old man gave them both a look that hovered somewhere between amusement and admiration.
“Reliable, eh?” he murmured. “All right then. Let’s see how the future carries a stretcher.”

Round 8 - Tag 8

As requested by @gimmebones715 some hurt/comfort Jake and g/n sole. I worked hard on this and I hope people like it 🧣💙
“I think about us.”
TW: Fallout trauma/PTSD episode.
“Aaaannndddd…. DONE!
That should be the last of it.”
Lupe scrambled out from under the memory pod, a smear of grime across her cheek.
For the last few nights she has been working on this memory pod to better assist the chief with settlements run by the ASAMS.
“You sure it’s safe to use? It ain’t gonna shock ‘em or nothin?” Jake was knelt by the back of the machine doing an eye exam of Lupe’s wiring, tightening the occasional screw.
Lupe stretched her back, cracking the strain out it,
“Of course. I mean…I’m sure it’s gonna need some tuning…but it should really do as we planned and help the chief not…electrocute them.”
“Well I don’t want to take any chances. Let’s do another diagnostics check, then I’ll be the first to see how it goes. Once everything is green, I have a great idea for the VR design.”
What a day…
You and Raphael finally made it back to HQ. Clearing out Fallon’s was…tough, but you both found some great scrap.
As you both made your way through security you couldn’t help but chuckle at Raph’s face,
“You ok there buddy? Your face is gonna get stuck like that.”
He turned his scowled face towards you and grumbles,
“You could have warned me we were taking on a super mutant hive. Gonna smell like those green freaks for a week.”
You smile at your grumpy friend,
“My dear how did you not notice the blood bags that decorated the outside?”
“Too busy covering your ass.” His scowl softened as he shook his head, then he mumbled something under his breath along the lines of
“…was right.”
“Hmmm what was that?” You take a friendly jab at his ribs. You and Raph had a great back and forth but something was off tonight. The whole walk back to HQ was quiet, not tense but…weird.
Just then Aiden walked in to the checkpoint, paper work and a mug of coffee in hand.
“You two reek.”
Raphael humphed, “Let me ask you somethin Aiden. They always this reckless?”
You turn to him, a funny look of shock on your face.
“Excuse me?! Reckless?”
Aiden lifted one eyebrow and sipped his coffee,
“Let me guess…they ran in guns blazing, pipboy radio on full blast without so much as a look in your general direction to see if you were following?”
“‘Bout the gist of it.”
Aiden looked between the two of you and sighed, “Yeah you get used to it.”
You take a breath in to argue back when your favorite cowboy walks in,
“Darlin! Good to see you…. Is that slime you got on ya?”
Jake was pointing at post combat viscera that has made its home on your jacket,
“Mmhmm. Super mutant. Wanna hug partner?” Your smile was genuine but Jake was backing away at the thought of mutant grease getting smeared on him,
“Ho that’s ok. Maybe go on and shower then come see me in the comm room. Gotta surprise for ya.”
Clean, refreshed and ready to see this surprise, you made your way to the comm room.
Lupe and Jake were so engrossed in their latest projects, neither heard you enter.
“Eh hem. Don’t work too hard now.” You smile finally being in the presence of Jake; the Amber eyed southern man who came outta no where.
Lupe stood quickly at your entrance and yelled,
“Tada! Whatcha think?”
“The memory pod? I gotta admit I’m curious at this endeavor of yours.”
Jake was by your side now, his hand on your lower back guiding you to it,
“This is a game changer. Gonna make it so much easier to control the ASAMS.”
“How so?”
“Ever place an ASAM and forget to set it to the desired plot? You know built a library instead of a training ground. Or a weapon store instead of food and drink…well now no more trudging all the way back to some boondocks settlement. The ASAMS can be remotely changed. All from the comfort of HQ. You’ll still have to place them manually, but can change their output from here if you need to.”
Lupe had her hands in her overall pockets, a huge smile on her face.
“Yeah and all you have to do is lay in the pod and let the lounger do its program in VR for you. Wait till you see the house Jake decorated.”
Jake had a dusting of pink on his face, eyes down but smiling,
“Huh…well it wasn’t hard to make but I can’t wait for you to see it.”
The sun itself could not out shine their happiness and sense of accomplishment. But you were not as excited.
The last time you sat in this, you relieved some of the greatest trauma you have ever known. Saw your spouse murdered, your infant stolen. You can still hear the bull barrel go off, Shaun’s screams carry on in echoes down vault halls.
A shiver runs through you and your skin pricks up. You’re cold and if you breathed out hard enough, you’re sure you could see your breath.
Small spaces were…not the same. And you were uneasy at the thought of being in any pod like space.
“Darlin?”
“Darlin?” Jake has his hands on your shoulders, looking deep in your eyes,
You shook slightly and stared back at him and smiled a weak smile. You had spaced out.
“Hey there partner. You doin alright?”
“Yeah,” you squeak,
“I’m fine just thinking was all.”
Jake didn’t look convinced and rubbed his hands down your arms, slowly returning your warmth.
“Um you feel ok to try it out? It needs to tune itself to your brain waves and all that. Won’t take but a moment?”
You nod your head, explaining that you have just been busy lately and not eating enough or sleeping enough, running through your list of excuses that you use once a week or so to explain gaps in performance. Then you put your brave face on and follow Jake and Lupe’s instructions.
But you can’t really hear them. All you hear is the sound of sitting in leather and you remember that’s how it sounded first getting settled in your cryo pod. Your eyes are starting to sting as sharp tears force their way through. Then the door closes, you hear it close but it’s loud. It hisses and makes this vacuum sound as it locks all the other air from getting in.
Overheard you hear Jake’s muffled voice. You’re cold and hot at the same time. Jake’s out there and you’re about to get stuck in this pod. What if you can’t get out? What if another 200 years go by you? Jake would be gone, your son would be gone and you’d never find him.
No you can’t lose like this. Not again.
It’s very hard to breath now but before you can pound on the glass pleading for help to get out, a vision appears and you start to hear Jake’s voice.
He can’t hear you but you can hear him. Your vision goes black and fades to blue. Soon shapes appear and turn into furniture. Furniture you recognize.
Your blue kitchen set, your mixer, your red couch.
This was your house. Your prewar house. Some things were different though and you noticed your anxiety slipping away.
Then Jake’s voice lifted through the fog in your mind,
“Ok Darlin’ go ahead to the grid on the wall by the television set, I’ll guide you from there.”
You listened, you did as he said and changed a store type in sanctuary. Jake gave his praise and said to have a look around before coming out. All you had to do was open the front door to exit the VR.
You felt like you were moving through deep water. It was hard to get the hang of things. It didn’t help that you were so triggered from all the memories. This was your house.
Before the bombs.
When you had a family. A baby. A mate. Happy times for the most part. You looked at the sink and remembered giving Shaun his first bath in there. He was so little but loved the warm, lavender scented water. As you turned, you saw your spouse sipping on a cold drink and they gave you a wink reminding you of this one time when you were intimate on these counters.
You smile at them and they smile back before turning into a teddy bear wearing combat armor, looking over sheets of blueprints.
As you look around more you notice Laura’s picture. A sweet little girl smiling for her daddy on his workshop table. Her overalls had all kinds of tools and rolls of duct tape in the pockets. She has pigtails. Your finger tips gently touch the photo of Jake’s daughter. You have not met her yet, but you already consider her family. The warm sound of the washing machine takes your focus and it’s Jake’s scarf on the hood. It’s just out of reach, but you imagine it’s soft and smells like him; evergreen soap and engine musk.
You’re starting to calm down. This was yours and Jake’s house. A place for Shaun and Laura too.
It took a minute, but this was what you wanted. Family. Home. Your kid back in your life and Jake as your lover. It was starting to feel good and in the back of your mind, you hoped this is what he wanted too.
Crying again. You seemed to cry a lot when you thought about your future. But with all these friends and allies and settlements, your future was looking brighter with each ASAM placement.
You felt silly and went to the bathroom to freshen up, but as you looked in the mirror you were haunted to see the face of Kellogg. He smirked at you and said something you couldn’t hear. You backed up suddenly, hair standing on its ends. Your spouse’s killer was standing there matching your head movements, talking without making noise. In fact there was no noise. Just the blood in your ears.
Blood in your ears followed by far away sirens.
Utter panic was setting in. You’re sweaty and chilly and ready to bolt. You run to the front door, getting it open, only to be met with,
“Good morning! Vault Tec calling.”
The yellow trench coat and trilby hat unmistakable. Except he was not right. His face was burned off, unbelievable scarring, skin hanging off in strips but he was smiling just like that October morning…
“Darlin?! Shit! Lupe get Cassandra in here pronto!”
You struggled as Jake pulled you out. Your arms flailing in fight mode. You hear him but can’t quite see him.
He’s here but he’s not, you’re so scared you’re gonna lose him, you’re saying something but it makes no sense. Like trying to speak in a dream.
There’s a pain in your shoulder…then nothing.
*many hours of chem induced slumber later*
It feels like fur. You breathe in and smell the unmistakable scent of your best friend. Dogmeat has a nice dog smell. Fur, campfire, corn chips…
You squeeze his paw and he shifts to snuggle closer, giving your nose a single lick.
“H-hey…there you are.”
You open your eyes and see blue and red, followed by a well kept beard.
“Darlin you had me so worried.”
Jake started to sparkle into your sight. He wore a face of relief as your eyes met. He looked tired, but he was still so beautiful.
“Hey handsome.” Your mouth was dry, your eyes crusty in the corners.
“You’ve been asleep for hours. Cass gave you a fat dose of calmex and you went out fast. I carried you here and stayed for a while but then I went back to see if maybe we wired something wrong…”
His voice was drifting off as he spoke, you were just so happy to be here with him. Be back in HQ. You couldn’t help it, you stretched out and hugged that wonderful man; to feel him against you, make sure he was real.
He returned the gesture, he hugged you back gently then a little firmer,
“Darlin,” he spoke quietly, “What happened? You wanna talk about it?”
As you let go of him, the warmth only he can give, slips away and you just want him back. So you invite him on your bed and he sits next to you, his strong arm around your body. You both watch Dogmeat readjust himself at the foot of the bed and you both smile as he plops down on both of yours feet.
You sit like this for a little before speaking,
“It wasn’t your wiring dear that’s for sure. Call it PTSD, a panic attack, anxiety…I thought I was fine until I got closer to the memory pod. I was in one once while I searching for the Institute, and i relived my experience through the eyes of my mate’s killer…”
You explained the whole thing. Everything you experienced. Your prewar memories of that fateful October day, your spouse’s murder, when your baby was kidnapped…
How being in the tight space of the memory lounger gave you muscle memory of the cryo pod that froze you.
The whole thing.
Now Jake knew some of it, but not to this extent. And he never said a word. He let you speak giving the occasional squeeze with his arm around you as you spoke.
This vault dweller, prewar relic, gorgeous human being, was burrowing a hole into his heart and he was gonna be there for you every step of the way.
You stopped speaking, your nightmare over. Jake nodded his head and turned to you when he was sure you were done,
“I’am so sorry darlin’. I mean I knew some of what you went through, but…well…this has shined more light on your story…”
He pulled you closer, and before he could speak, you did.
“Ya know, all I could think about was losing you. Not having you around anymore. When that lounger closed I was afraid another 200 years was gonna go by, I’d be lost to time again.”
“Darlin I need you to listen to me,”
Jake turned so he was facing you, your faces close but not too intimately,
“I will do what I can to keep you safe. I promise to be there for ya. I’d never want to put you in a dangerous situation.” He was rubbing your arms, pressed his forehead to yours, “Darlin…I can’t do this without you.”
His voice was getting heavy with emotion. Even though Jake plants himself in the comm room while you’re wadding through the wastes, he has been there for you when you get back. He always listens to you, laughs with you, eats with you. Your friendship was blooming into something rare, something real.
“Hey…I liked the little touches in the VR house…did you do that?”
A smile crept into his pretty eyes and he chuckled,
“Noticed that did ya? Yeah I spent some time programming familiar things for the both of us. I thought it could…well…foreshadow our life to come.”
“You think of us? As a couple?” You could feel your heart skip a beat. Up till now your ‘relationship’ was not romantically intimate. You knew you both cared for each other and expressed that in quality time, but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t want more.
Your flirty comebacks could turn into lusty pillow talks, the brush of your hands in passing turning into passionate touches behind closed doors…hell you’d settle for breakfast in bed; but he wants to make a home with you…
“Absolutely I think of us. I think of finding Laura, finding Shaun, winning this blood bath of a war. Darlin sometimes I’m downright selfish with my thoughts about you. Having you all to myself, in our own little house…I think about it a lot actually. Us.
The kids.
A home.
It’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
As if on que, Dogmeat lifted his head and licked his chops, eyeing you both down and earning a laugh from you both.
Jake patted the mattress calling the shepherd over, “Of course you can live with us. Ain’t nothing better than a family dog.”
He nestled between the two of you and huffed as he laid down.
As the three of you rested, nestled together, you feel lighter than you have in weeks. Jake had that effect on you.
Jake Evans.
A man you met 210 years into your future, through a series of insane events…well let’s just say you’re grateful. Grateful, happy and all that good stuff. Nothing could have brought you greater comfort than knowing you have a bright future ahead with him as your man.

He had been here a few weeks now, still not entirely committed to remaining with them, but the teenager had nowhere else to go either. One of the days he helped building a noticeboard for odd jobs in the area and Kunsel scrunched his nose up in confusion when he saw Glenn's bare forearm. Weird. "- you earlier soldiers didn't get tattoos, huh?"
Kid was quiet. But he also was like a shadow. Watching a lot, always observing. He never pulled attention onto him, he remained on the sidelines. Glenn had noticed that fast, but just because he had an eye on the teenager. He guessed if they had been in the same roster, Glenn would've never noticed him. They were polar opposite sin this regard.
But as much as he was watching the kid, he seemingly was watching him too.
Surprised, Glenn looked at his own forearm and turned it as if he could've missed a tattoo there, before chuckling.
"Eh... yeah. The company didn't invest much in us. You know, no Mako or other treatments. We just had regular training. Our final trial was the VR hall. And that was as fancy as it'd get for SOLDIERS P0... Lucia always joked that equalled our worth to Shinra. Zero... she was pretty much spot on with that, I guess."
Nodding towards the boy, Glenn raised his eyebrows.
"Can I see yours? What did they stamp you with?"
