Every single time I reread A Study in Scarlet I am startled when halfway through it becomes deeply inaccurate america fanfiction. Like Holmes reveals the murderer and immediately the next chapter is waxing poetic about the harsh, barren landscape of the western (??) US.

an addition to my workings on the rook de riva & viago bond: if we buy into the idea that they grew up together, and also my admittedly baseless headcanon that viago probably poisoned his predecessor to death. and we understand that teia at 28 was the youngest talon ever, so viago would have had to have been 28+ when he did that. that DOES add up to rook and viago working for like 15-20 years in the antivan fucking crows, since they were children, for someone who viago was then willing to murder in cold blood. the level of shared trauma that implies is not inconsiderable!

Ok I saw a photo of Tyler that grabbed me by the brainstem so I decided that doing a painting/value study of that photo would be a good idea. It was certainly an idea that cost me much sleep, but I’m happy with how it turned out so?? Worth?? I eyeballed everything, no tracing, then painted in grayscale as I always do before placing it in Mx. Gradient Map’s capable hands LOL

i think raihan keeps a journal (after about the 20th time kabu suggested it to him after accidentally on purpose oversharing to his old man coworker who's always right about everything) and at first he feels corny about it. goes back and forth about posting suave selfies of himself at cafes with it because maybe validation would be motivating and make it all less uncomfortable. but thatd defeat the purpose of why kabu suggested it. he ultimately decides against posting about it. its nice to have something of his own thats different than his ponderings on hammerlocke history or the dragon species and ANYWAY. he secretly starts writing poetry

Day One of New Job: I seem to be the youngest person there by a wide margin. The single other employee who knows how to work the software I use wasn't in today, so they sent me home six hours early. (Technically, today isn't a work day for me, so I actually just came in for an orientation, but it's funnier to say I got to go home.) I have been given complete control over the materials room I manage and my hours are remarkably flexible. This could bode very well or very ill.

She was very calm and curious about me, jumped on my hand when I tried to release her and chilled there for a bit. I tried to offer her a fruit fly sitting on my kitchen window, but she wasn't interested.
