You Yi is a kind-hearted socialite and a successful author. Her perfect life is turned upside-down when she discovers a betrayal by the two most trusted people in her life. With no one left to turn to, she finds refuge in the friendship and support of Yan Wei, a lonely female killer disguised as the owner of a photo studio. YouTube. the show doesn’t have a happy ending, but it can be a happy ending for you if you stop watching at episode 12 timestamp 28:02. *Adapted from an explicitly queer novel, the show is undeniably and obviously queer, but nevertheless the queer romance part is censored.

9. Affair childhood friends to lovers; love triangle

A girl's life is upended by family bankruptcy. Her best friend becomes a source of comfort. They get separated, but years later they reunite, reigniting old memories and feelings amidst changed circumstances.

3. Secret Crush On You “nerd”/popular guy; queer friend group; university setting

A nerdy young man Toh fell in love with a popular third-year senior. Because his dream is so far from reach, observing is the only thing he could do. Toh has a queer friend group, one of them is a transfeminine/3rd gender/kathoey character Daisy. Can be a bit jarring for a western person at first, but her story is very lovely if you give this girl a chance (also gets male romantic partner).

Noticeable small appearances of trans female characters: The Sign (the actress Yoshi was the 2019 winner of Thailand's biggest trans beauty pageant, YouTube), Not Me (YouTube), You're My Sky (Viki), KinnPorsche (iQIYI).

Sadly we aren't at a point where Thailand makes shows with trans people as leads yet, even though I so badly wish it was already a thing. But trans women and kathoey generally have supporting roles in BL and GL shows very often, so you can see them a lot in stuff! It's the transmascs who never ever appear here!

Anucha Boonyawatana is a trans woman and the director of Not Me, mlm show about anarchist freedom fighters (YouTube).

Golf Tanwarin is a nonbinary director and the first openly transgender person to have been elected as a member of parliament in Thailand. They were the one who submitted the thai marriage equality bill to parliament, which since then has been approved in 2024 and came in legal force 2 weeks ago. Their directing works: Love Bully (wlw, listed above), The Eclipse (mlm show about repressed boys in a corrupted school system, YouTube), Wandee Goodday (mlm boxer/doctor romcom, Viki).

Just in case, adding shows where I personally enjoyed headcanoning characters as transgirls or enby transfems sometimes:

1. Meet You At The Blossom

Romantic interest is wearing female clothes and makeup for disguise in the first episodes, and despite not passing well no one questions that this is a woman. The character is happily called "wife" by the lead character until the end of the show.

2. The Sign

Main character used to be a female snake princess in his past reincarnation. Sometimes played by a female actress, sometimes by a male actor, but always referred to as a princess and wearing period thai female clothes. It's also possible to headcanon the character as a transmasc here though, it's really neat.

Actually going insane over the implications of Jason asking Dick to be the Robin to his Batman in Battle for the Cowl.

Like I initially took it at the purely surface-level of Jason wanting a partner in the general sense. Which made sense, it's a huge responsibility and a lonely one so an assistant/sidekick/partner seems a no-brainer if you can get one.

But then I really thought about it, because Jason is not asking Dick to be his partner in the general sense; he's not even asking Dick to be his Nightwing. He's asking Dick to be his Robin.

And they both know exactly what Jason means: "Be the light to my darkness. Be the smile to my scowl. Be the hope to my fear. "

He's saying "Be 'Robin'; be the embodiment of Love and Justice and Goodness. Be the exceptional person that you have always been. Be the slightly-less exceptional person that I was when I wore your colors. Hello! From what I see in your blog, you're very knowledgeable about the Eunuchs in TBOY and Dashing Youth. I'm having problem to identify who's who so I'm just wondering if you have a guide of their names, position, motives, appearance and short backstory? An appearance guide with DY and TBOY actors comparison will be very helpful. At first I thought Zhuoqing of DY is the same guy in the TBOY who also has white hair that keep helping the red prince but I'm afraid they are different people. I hope this is not too much to ask because I genuinely want to know about them but I always ended up confusing myself more. Have a nice day.

Hello, thanks for the ask! 😺 It always makes me happy to see people being curious about the Five Eunuchs! If you want to know more about them, you’ve definitely come to the right place! I’ll probably make a more comprehensive guide at some point, but I can offer a good bit of information here.

The Blood of Youth Eunuch Tree

Now, for Dashing Youth, I’m afraid that I have less to offer, as not all of the eunuchs have appeared yet. Still, I can show the ones who have.

Zhuo Qing

First, we have Grand Eunuch Zhuo Qing. He is the shifu of the Blood of Youth’s Five Eunuchs (except for Jin Yan, who was taught by Zhuo Xin). He serves Emperor Tai’an and is fated to guard the Imperial Mausoleum when he dies. Needless to say, Zhuo Qing is far from pleased by such prospects and is fighting to change the future that has been written for him.

Jin Xuan

Next is Jin Xuan, who succeeds his role as Director of the Five Eunuchs. Growing up, he was the study partner of Xiao Ruojin (also known as Prince Jingyu, Emperor Mingde), and now serves as his most trusted companion and bodyguard, among other roles.

Jin Xian (Jade Deity, Shen Jingzhou)

Jin Xian is known as the Eunuch of Incense in Tianqi and Shen Jingzhou of the Blizzard Sword outside it.

Other

There’s also Eunuch Li (pictured left) and Eunuch Cheng (pictured right). Less is currently known about them, as they aren’t in The Blood of Youth.

The Blood of Youth Loyalties

Finally, for now, there is the matter of loyalties. The eunuchs are honestly some of the most complex characters in the Blood of Youth, and this chart merely touches on the alliances between the eunuchs and the royals. Jin Wei has assisted all of the princes, but I believe his devotion is to his shifu above all else. Meanwhile, Jin Xuan is… ambiguous. Even if his greatest affection is for his emperor, he is reluctant to put his whole heart into one person or cause.

Occupation: Lead Scientist and Head of R&D at Supramed Research Corp.

Background: Grew up your average upper-middle class childhood in the Netherlands, where he expressed early signs of various personality disorders, to this day undiagnosed. At first, he would only 'experiment' [read: torture] on himself, up until he was nearly impervious to pain by a combination of damaged nerve endings and mental blocks (some people might argue that this is a superpower, although it is not classified as one) and started experimenting on others instead to continue his ever-growing interest. In his doctoral program, he wanted to research on the physiological effects of pain, even going so far as to ignore the board’s decision that his chosen research path was wildly unethical, until he was discovered and barred from the school and faced demands to be diagnosed and treated for his disorders, as well as prison time. He fled the country and ended up in the US, where he has since worked for Supramed Research Corp. as lead scientist under his current girlfriend, Lana Moody. It doesn't seem the company has any problem with his tendencies, and in fact, encourage them, as they help with continued research on supers and their powers. Also very well known to take copious and well-organized notes.

Extra notes: 

Likes to play mind games and WILL hurt any person indiscriminately, seemingly with no motivation other than ‘fun’ or ‘research’.

Generally agreed upon to be rather insufferable to interact with.

So the Transformers RPG's Beginner Box: Roll Out set is coming with the scenario of the core rulebook and the first scenario of the A Time Is Now campaign book, and character guides for Hound, Gauge, Anode, Aileron, Smokescreen, Novastar, Beachcomber, and Springer, some of whom were stand-ins for player characters in A Time Is Now including in the art for the book. This is releasing in May.

Gauge, Aileron, and Anode have actual character guides for suggestions of how to play them!!! Arcee, who is the quartermaster of the Ark and an npc in A Time Is Now, also had a pregen released a while ago as free bonus material as a warrior sentinel (which means she's specialized in melee weapons/martial arts generally and deflecting attacks and such and can have an extra shield or parrying weapon, can manifest energon weapons without spending energon, has more free actions, etc) with a gladiator influence.

So um if there is anybody out there looking to play some of the (trans) lesbian gals of transformers and their mentee (admittedly in Anode's case assuming she was just Arcee's friend like in IDW1 she's more like Gauge's aunt but we're pretty sure everyone following us is aware that we very much adore the Greenlight/Aileron/Anode/Arcee/Lug/Lancer ship that we're more or less responsible for being one of the first to toss around on the internet) or would like that to be their introduction to the game this is a thing you will be able to do in a few months.

Just. Just really blown away. We're just overjoyed, especially with everything happening right now that makes life for gender and orientation expansive folk so hard, that Renegade committed to showing some more of these bots. Very curious what Anode's art will look like since she hasn't had any of her IDW art shown in the book yet, Aileron got some new art in the TTRPG as did Gauge.

*coughs* obviously if you play Aileron *cough* there is an obvious npc in A Time Is Now to romance in the game if that's something people at the table including the GM who'd be playing her is cool with that *wheezes in lesbian*-

assuming its not already an established relationship and this is just more of a family adventure of some alien robot lesbians (okay look we have to note that the same gender loving transformer gals probably wouldn't call themselves lesbians they might have their own words for that and gender stuff but this is not the post to talk about the orientation and aesthetic systems we've come up with for transforming alien robots) and their friends and their daughter. I um wow this a thing. wow even though things can be crud this really actually happened. We actually had the honor of playing Gauge in a delightful and harrowing A Time Is Now game with some friends and the mother-daughter moments with Arcee were really fun

Blood of Youth Eunuch Tree

I wasn’t sure whether Zang Ming is a eunuch, so I didn’t include him. There is a eunuch in the novel that has a similar role to him when traveling with Prince Bai, and I’m pretty sure Zang Ming in the show is an amalgamation of that eunuch and another character. So… fifty-fifty chance, I suppose.

As for Long Xie, I had figured that he was a eunuch before reading the novel, so I was seriously confused when I read that he had a mustache. However, it not only turned out to be a fake mustache, but also that he’s kinda secretly Jin Xuan’s student.

Also, I have no idea where he would fit on my tree, but if I remember correctly, the guy driving the freshly-exiled Xiao Se’s carriage is actually Xiao Se’s companion eunuch. He wasn’t given a name, at least that I could recall. Amusingly, Bo Yong wished to be Xiao Se’s new companion eunuch, but was kinda left hanging on an answer.

Zhuo Luo and Zhuo Sen are novel-only characters, directors of Records and Sword respectively. Given how Zhuo Xin is sort of in charge of them after Zhuo Qing died, I figured that perhaps Zhuo Xin is the second oldest.

It is mentioned in the novel that Jin Yu was the disciple of the previous eunuch of Records. I’m guessing that means both Zhuo Luo and Zhuo Qing are his masters, since he definitely calls Zhuo Qing shifu, and it also makes sense that he would receive specialized training from Zhuo Luo.

By that logic, Zhuo Sen might be one of Jin Wei’s masters, but I have less evidence of that.

The novel is weirdly silent about the Eunuch of Incense before Jin Xian. I wonder if he died early. The novel already makes a big point about how much responsibility Jin Xian has taken up (with even more duties than is typical for his position), so him having to take his role sooner than the rest would be consistent with that. The streaks of white in his hair could certainly be due to prolonged stress.
