Facebook's Metaverse subsidiary Reality Labs lost $4.4 billion dollars in Q3 2024, and $4.2 billion in Q1 2025. They've spent $60 billion on Reality Labs since 2020. It keeps losing money!

On the other hand, VRChat is profitable.

This is just a case of Meta/Zuck being a very rich R&D sponsor, making subsidized hardware that gets used by consumers for things other than funneling that revenue back into Meta's pockets.

You can't argue against a technology. No one has ever, ever, in the history of humanity, argued a technology out of existence. The closest we've come are nukes and human genetic engineering. Nukes exist and multiple countries have massive arsenals of them, but we've agreed not to use them because it would mean humanity's utter destruction. Human genetic engineering cuts right to the heart of a bunch of ethical questions about health, equality, identity, and so on, and also up until very recently genetic engineering has been a long and extremely expensive process. We'll see how long human genetic engineering remains taboo now that it's getting cheaper and easier. But these are absolute outliers. In the vast, vast majority of cases, I mean literally in virtually every single case, when people fight a new technology—for any reason—they loose.

There is no tenable "anti-AI art" position, just like there was never a tenable anti-loom position, or anti-railroad position, or anti-horseless carriage position. These things were doomed to fail absolutely from day one, as soon as the technology existed, and anti-AI art is doomed to fail just as utterly and completely. There is just no path here, if this is what you've hitched your wagon to I really do not know what to tell you.

lab rats, if it was not produced by disney, or at least not disney xd (maybe netflix or disney+) would have been a much better show. bryan and chris did a great job with what they had but unfortunately were working for disney. if you’re following my insta, you heard me talking about this on my story yesterday, but i’m going to try to type it all out here. trigger warning, trauma, abuse, and deaths. i will also do another warning right before the topic is brought up. here we go

time: i am aware that disney shows whether channel or xd only have a certain amount of time for table reads, filming, editing, and then airing. for a show especially like liv and maddie, they REALLY didn’t have time as dove had to film everything twice. disney episodes, unless a special episode, are usually between 24-30 minutes. but it’s so annoying how everything gets solved so fast. the laugh tracks (i am very used to them but i am aware that people find them annoying). it’s not very realistic that way. now to swiftly move to the next topic, scripts and reality

scripts and reality: even a show like fuller house on netflix, which also only had 24-30 minute episodes, had a more realities script. disney said “tweeter, twits, facegab, e-phone, madame googoo, vuuugle” because they’re cheap, fuller house would say “new kids on the block, facebook, nintendo, hamilton, pippin” ACTUALLY NAMES OF things. even outside of that, they talked like normal people would. in a disney show, something would go wrong, they would cut to commercial break, then come back and say “i can’t believe you ____! how are we going to fix this?!” NO ONE talks like that except for disney characters. whyyyy

characters:

adam; he was the token dumb character and honestly, not a nice person. i know that disney always has sassy characters but adam was just rude and didn’t have a filter. there should have been more to his character. maybe he would have had some sort of special interest like dez from austin and ally. dez was dumb but had his sweet moments and was a really good filmmaker and director. all adam seems to do is make fun of others and use his super strength. he should have been more useful outside of his bionics. had some sort of personality other than being dumb.

bree, trigger warning - drinking? ; bree, desperately wanting to be a normal teenager, would have gone crazy with partying. literally in the first episode, she said she was close to getting a curfew she was going to break. she wanted to be rebellious from the first episode. bree would have been one of those teens that either did not want to grow up or wanted to grow up too fast. she may have even been a bit of a rebel in school. not too bad, but like getting detention sometimes. once she grew out of that phase possibly, she would have had an identity crisis. and yes, i mean that kind. she was not straight. there’s no way. she should have struggled with her sexuality. maybe even a potential love interest that was a girl. i mean, considering she was the only girl besides tasha, there should have been some sort of identity issues with her.

chase; chase probably could have been explored the most. disclaimer, i promise i am not being biased by saying that; i just know him the best out of all the characters. chase is the smartest man in the world and in my opinion, was way too sane. katie from alexa and katie would get overwhelmed thinking about high school and college and would have panic attacks. chase was stressed out a lot and probably should have had panic attacks. and it pains me to say that because the last thing i want is for him to have mental health problems but it’s very realistic that he would have struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. additionally, i have seen a lot of people say this, i could see him being autistic. i don’t think he is, but if someone were to confirm it somehow, i would totally see it. i could see him being overstimulated and like how he jumps up and down when he’s excited? that could be him stimming. also, i’ve always wondered this, isn’t it painful to use his bionic eye? i feel like i would get headaches. and then all the apps he has? commando app (i will talk about spike momentarily), magnetism app, override app (no pressure??), internal hard drive, laser bow, molecular kinesis, super senses, levitation (which was only used once wtf), and obviously, super intelligence. think about how overwhelming that is, and they called him WEAK? bro was holding the team together. even if he weren’t autistic, he should have gotten overstimulated more.

follow up- spike; i’m going to be incredibly contradictory here but just bare with me. what the fuck did spike even do? he just caused destruction and distress for chase. when chase was nervous, mad, or embarrassed, he came out, but only when the episode revolved around him. i understand davenport’s intentions: remove the flight part of fight or flight, but why did he make him so angry? and also, i think that’s a bit insulting to chase, as if saying he’s too weak to handle himself. ugh, the very little he did was just useless. i wish we had gotten more of him and that he had had a bigger role. he was written terribly and never came out when he really should have come out. leo’s jam, trent gets schooled, rise of the secret soldiers, bionic rebellion, space colony, and the attack episode are all examples of where spike could have come out because chase was embarrassed or upset. also chase clearly didn’t like spike being a part of him. why did davenport never realize this and remove him when not only does chase not like him but also, he was doing anything but help chase.

leo- trigger warning, mentions of divorce, abuse, possible death; did the writers forget the literal first scene of the show? his mom literally got remarried. what happened to leo’s dad? did they get a divorce. did leo’s dad die? was he abusive? was he not around? so many questions. and we know they were married because leo excitedly said “my 𝐧𝐞𝐰 dad is batman!” so it’s not like tasha and leo’s biological father had a baby but were never married. in ‘can i borrow the helicopter?’ leo confides in davenport about his crush on janelle and he told tasha, which leo was upset about, but he had the opportunity to be more upset than he was. maybe his old dad never would have done that. maybe he’s used to it so he wasn’t as upset but he never thought davenport would have done that to him. he also forgave him way too fast (again, fast-paced episodes😒). he also should’ve had a harder time adapting to gaining 3 siblings after being an only child his whole life. i mean, even chase - who already had a brother - had a hard time gaining even on sibling. other than familial life and possible trauma leo could have had, i don’t have much to say about the character. he was written pretty well and had some awesome lines

SpaceTime -- A brief history

SpaceTime is Australia’s most popular and respected astronomy and space science news program – averaging over two million downloads every year. We’re also number five in the United States.  The show reports on the latest stories and discoveries making news in astronomy, space flight, and science.  SpaceTime features weekly interviews with leading Australian scientists about their research.  The show began life in 1995 as ‘StarStuff’ on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) NewsRadio network.  Award winning investigative reporter Stuart Gary created the program during more than fifteen years as NewsRadio’s evening anchor and Science Editor.  Gary’s always loved science. He studied astronomy at university and was invited to undertake a PHD in astrophysics, but instead focused on his career in journalism and radio broadcasting. Gary’s radio career stretches back some 34 years including 26 at the ABC. He worked as an announcer and music DJ in commercial radio, before becoming a journalist and eventually joining ABC News and Current Affairs. He was part of the team that set up ABC NewsRadio and became one of its first on air presenters. When asked to put his science background to use, Gary developed StarStuff which he wrote, produced and hosted, consistently achieving 9 per cent of the national Australian radio audience based on the ABC’s Nielsen ratings survey figures for the five major Australian metro markets: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. That compares to the ABC’s overall radio listenership of just 5.6 per cent. The StarStuff podcast was published on line by ABC Science -- achieving over 1.3 million downloads annually.  However, after some 20 years, the show finally wrapped up in December 2015 following ABC funding cuts, and a redirection of available finances to increase sports and horse racing coverage.  Rather than continue with the ABC, Gary resigned so that he could keep the show going independently.  StarStuff was rebranded as “SpaceTime”, with the first episode being broadcast in February 2016.  Over the years, SpaceTime has grown, more than doubling its former ABC audience numbers and expanding to include new segments such as the Science Report -- which provides a wrap of general science news, weekly skeptical science features, special reports looking at the latest computer and technology news, and Skywatch – which provides a monthly guide to the night skies. Prosecutors agree to drop charge against wife of ‘Ghost Adventures’ star (Update)

Prosecutors agreed to drop one of two charges against Victoria Goodwin, wife of “Ghost Adventures” star Aaron Goodwin, on Tuesday.

Victoria Goodwin, 32, appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court for negotiations regarding allegations that she planned, with the help of a Florida inmate, to have her celebrity husband killed. She was charged with solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Goodwin, who wore pink manicured nails, glasses, and her hair in a side braid, told Justice of the Peace Kristal Bradford that she would waive her right to a preliminary hearing.

Her lawyer, David Brown, added that the case would be bound to the District Court, where the solicitation charge would be dropped and she could make a formal plea.

After the brief hearing, Brown told reporters that Goodwin could receive anything from probation to a maximum of ten years in prison for the conspiracy charge.

Goodwin’s arrest report said that she was living in Las Vegas with her husband, known for his role in the reality television series “Ghost Adventures,” when their relationship began to sour.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s investigation into Victoria Goodwin stemmed from an October cellphone seizure at the Okeechobee Correctional Institution, a state prison in Florida. Corrections officers took a Motorola cellphone from Grant Amato, an inmate at the facility, and sent it to a cell phone lab, where detectives downloaded and searched its contents, police said.

The arrest report said that as investigators went through the contents of the device, they found text and Facebook messages between Amato and a woman, later identified as Goodwin, who “seemed to be planning a murder-for-hire plot.” It was then that Florida law enforcement contacted Metro.

On March 12, six days after his wife was arrested, Aaron Goodwin filed for divorce. Court documents said it had become “impossible” for the two to live together in marital harmony. A couple of weeks later, he thanked his supporters on Instagram.

Penguin Awareness Day 

Learn about these birds through documentaries, get up close and personal at your local zoo or donate to conservation charities working to protect them.

Penguins are fun and interesting animals that are unique in many different ways. There are currently over 18 different known species of penguin and some of them have been around the planet for well over 65 million years. They’re a beloved animal thanks to many popular depictions in movies and children’s stories, but they’re also fascinating birds that have piqued the interest of many people all over the world.

However, what most people don’t realize is that penguin numbers around the world are dwindling. Every year, the penguin population shrinks at an alarming rate and most of the world doesn’t realize this because they don’t get to see “real” penguins in their natural habitat. That’s why Penguin Awareness Day is such a good opportunity to learn more about penguins and understand the situation they’re in. It could lead to an appreciation for penguins and could even convince you to donate to help ensure that they can continue living on our planet for another 65 million years!

Penguin Awareness Day helps to bring some reality to people’s depictions of penguins that typically come from animated films and cartoons. Penguins are often seen as laid-back animals that love to swim around, take care of their children and socialize. This is a pretty accurate representation of what penguins do on a daily basis, but it doesn’t show the environment that the penguins live in and how it’s constantly changing around them.

Penguin Awareness Day is a time to celebrate and commemorate penguins, but unless we do something as a collective to help penguins thrive in the wild, there may be none left in the near future. That’s why the main focus of Penguin Awareness Day is to educate people on their situation, learn how climate change has affected them and also learn about the different species and where they live.

History of Penguin Awareness Day

Penguins are a barometer of the effects of human activity on the poles, according to scientists from institutions around the world. Raising awareness about them, therefore, is seen by many as a way to communicate with people about the impending dangers of climate change. If people can see how these birds are being affected, perhaps they will make changes to their lives.

Laboratories and scientific institutions worldwide became increasingly interested in Penguin Awareness Day after 2010. Their main aim is to highlight their penguin-related research and get the public interested in conservation.

For instance, Polito Lab released a video talking about what it was doing to study the lives of these lovable birds in Antarctica in 2017. LSU College of the Coast and Environment also jumped on the bandwagon, posting video content on Facebook. It featured short clips of penguins getting up to their usual antics with important messages posted over the top about how they live. According to the informational piece, penguins spend the majority of their lives either on the ice or in the water. Their colonies vary in size considerably, from just a few dozen to millions. Their diet is mainly krill and fish, and they create so-called “penguin highways” through the ice to make it easier to collect food.

Penguins, however, picky eaters. When you live in Antarctica, you have to consume whatever calories you can find, even if it is shrimp caught in the ice from years. Penguins need to consume specific types of food to keep their feathers and eggshells healthy. Scientists now say that they can take samples from these components and determine the quality of their diet. Now that’s quite an achievement!

In 2020, Cincinnati Zoo jumped on the Penguin Awareness Day bandwagon following the Twitter frenzy on the subject. The public amenity released a press release about the new habitat it had created for its blue penguins.

Penguin Awareness Day is, for that reason, an opportunity for everyone involved in the life of penguins to chip in and talk about this vital creature. Remember, the penguin is the largest animal to venture into the heart of Antarctica to breed. It is a tough little cookie and worth celebrating.

How to celebrate Penguin Awareness Day

Celebrating Penguin Awareness Day usually involves visiting a penguin exhibit at a local zoo. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about penguins, what they eat, how they socialize and also the environment they live in. However, it’s also a good opportunity to learn more about how climate change has affected them and what can be done to help their situation. You might get suggestions on charities that help penguins and donations are always appreciated to help their cause.

However, if you don’t have a local zoo nearby, then celebrating Penguin Awareness Day can be done indoors, even with your children. Penguin documentaries are a great way to learn more about penguins if you have teenage children, but if they’re still young and are expecting something fun and quirky for Penguin Awareness Day, then you could watch a penguin-related film together, even if it’s a cartoon. You can also watch videos on YouTube that talk about penguins and their situation to learn more about the wonderful species.

You can also think about donating to charities that specifically cater to the needs of penguins. The Global Penguin Society, for instance, does conservation work designed to protect the penguin’s natural habitat. It also advocates for the protection of the Southern Oceans – the principal place where penguins live. It wants to protect all eighteen species of wild penguins found throughout the southern hemisphere so that future generations can enjoy them.

Some charities also let you “adopt a penguin,” for a small amount of money every month. In return, you get regular updates on how your penguins are doing. And you can find out more about ongoing efforts to reduce fishing encroachment on their feeding grounds. Penguins are susceptible to fishing stock depletion so conservationists need to manage this carefully.

Lastly, you can also use the hashtag #PenguinAwarenessDay on social media to either learn more about penguins or even educate others about penguins and their situation.

More Napoleon Bonapartes, more let them eat cake, more off with their heads, more they dont want to work, more welfare queens, more get a job, more Funquishas and Watermelondras.

More campaigns, more slogans, more supermans.

We never learn from our collective atrocities.

Why, as a species, do we blindly and ignorantly choose to continue to procreate, replicate and propagate our human race when the end result has always been untold human suffering?

There is no amount of joy that can cancel out the amount of suffering that has been needlessly caused and experienced in the Upside Down.

Its time to end the human experiment and we have not had a good run.

Millions upon millions killed, raped, starved, gassed, beaten, tortured, hazed, humiliated, mocked, imprisoned, jailed, assaulted, exterminated, exploited, traumatized, gaslit, intimidated, ethnically cleansed, used.

Abused, overworked, harrassed, trafficked, groomed, conditioned, brainwashed, broken, violated, fetishized, objectified, commodified, consumed, dehumanized, retconned, manipulated, overmedicalized, pathologized, drugged, indoctrinated, molested, institutionalized.

There is no amount of good, joy, happiness or anything else that can even come close to equaling out these endless and ongoing atrocities, forget cancelling them out.

Humanity is a virus that has been allowed to endlessly replicate itself and it has to stop.

We are causing catastrophic human suffering to our own species because we wont stop reproducing ourselves for no fucking reason at all.

Once you add in the ecocide, ecological and environmental destruction, hundreds of thousands of animal species that have been made extinct, climate change, climate crisis, climate emergency, deforestation, the destruction of rainforests, landfills, nuclear waste, oceanic pollution, overfishing, factory farming, industrial waste, toxins, pollutants, synthetic and lab made chemicals, GMOs, pesticides, overextraction of earths resources, raping & pillaging mother earth, sewage, food waste, fast fashion, big box retail, air pollution, air toxicity, non biodegradable waste taking tens of thousands of years to break down in landfills, oil spills, drilling for oil, coal, endless construction, endless Amazon warehouses, endless delivery drones, methane emissions from factory farming, greenhouse gas emissions, millions of cars clogging the highways...

The answer is we need to subtract the human race from the equation.

If all 7.8 billion of us currently alive on the planet made the conscious decision not to procreate, we could end all this suffering in this generation.

I cannot express how terrible an idea it is to have Facebook AR glasses out in the world. A notable name in this broadcast was one 18 year old "Selene Delgado Lopez", a woman who had apparently disappeared from Delegation "Alvaro Obregon" (District "Alvaro Obregon") on the 22nd of April sometime 30 years ago.

The case of Selene interested the minds of true crime enthusiasts, and those willing to find missing people in a heartbeat; though with endless researching and outreach, there were no leads or any proof that she had even existed in the first place. People in Mexico started to make up theories that she was kidnapped and used in human trafficking, but without any proof their claims came to no avail.

Selene's missing persons case soon started to dissolve into a mystery, and as time went past more and more people started to conclude that she was either dead or hadn't existed and that it was just a PR stunt made by Canal 5. Theories of her disappearance, and the involvement of organised crime came after a slew of other high profile cases sprung up in Mexico involving missing women and girls; who had succumbed to unimaginable fates. A note, and fact, to make about Central and South America is that countries in that region are a hotbed for crimes related to the exploitation of women; for example, Honduras and El Salvador to this day hold the highest rates of Femicide (honour killings involving the "sacrifice" of women to apparently "stop misfortune within the family")...and the sad thing is that cases like these aren't usually concluded due to the influx in police corruption and extortion.

In 2020, the case was amplified again; with people announcing that the apparent missing girl was found alive, and rumours of a social media account began to show up. An account called "Selene Delgado" began to be shared around to people with a warning attached, stating that this person was "friends with many people on Facebook" and that there was no way to block her; turning out to all be a huge hoax to scaremonger those gullible enough to believe it.

September 2nd 2021. Youtuber "FlorecitaDreams" uploads a video of themselves attempting to disseminate the likeliness of her even being a real person by using photographic evidence and advanced software to prove that it was just a collage of pictures put together. Doing this, they collated the supposed picture of Selene Delgado Lopez and the Baton Rouge killer Derrick Todd Lee:

A note: The picture of Derrick Todd Lee is a computer rendered E-Fit of the murderer and not an actual photo of Derrick.

E-Fits are superimposed images made by collating various facial features often given in witness testimonies to make a somewhat over-exaggerated face; faces are made exaggerated for one sole reason, so that they are recognisable even by identifying someone based on one facial feature. E-Fits are commonplace in use in both criminal cases, trying to catch a murderer or unidentified suspect, or in hopes of identifying a unidentified corpse (in this case, laboratories like FACES Lab will use exhumed skulls and 3d imaging software to produce a look-a-like to what their facial structure might have been; this of course depends on the severity of structural damage to the body part).

With this investigation done by FlorecitaDreams, they made the argument that the Selene Delgado Lopez face was just a manipulation of Derrick Todd Lee's; going over sophisticated mathematical explanations just to try and prove that the face wasn't real in the first place.

FlorecitaDreams uses a graph make-up to show the likeliness and familiarity between inanimate and unrealistic beings to a healthy human. It goes into extensive depth exposing whether or not the being in question accentuates movement like a human does.

As a summary, the case still remains unsolved; though multiple sources have attempted to debunk potential fallacies to do with both the missing persons case itself and the rumors around it. Its illusive to whether or not the person existed, or if they were just a figure of someone's oddly creative

Psychogenic Electronic Illness

There appears to be a psychogenic electronic illness or mass hysteria plaguing the entire United States, with the symptoms ranging from symptoms of delusional disorder to symptoms of schizophrenia. I assume from my past research that the cause is a combination of a biological cause, from what seems to be a strain of frequently ignored black mold that is prevalent in poor regions, recent increased levels of stress from Covid-19, and the effects of late stage capitalism that the majority of people are born into. The majority of the people in the area appear to at least be experiencing functional delusions, with the lower classes and the poor experiencing more severe symptoms due to their increased levels of economic and other stressors. It’s likely that there is also a genetic factor in play, with certain epigenetics being activated by stress and the biological toxin. I am assuming that the minority of people unaffected by this don’t work in mental health, as these workers seem to be completely unaware of it or also affected by it. Portland is going to need outside help from people who won’t be affected by the causal factors. I’m unsure of who to contact about this as there is still no federal body that oversees issues of this nature, and I cannot be sure the people I’m contacting aren’t also being affected by it. This has happened before in the United States and Europe, but back then there was nothing known about psychology, and barely anything known about the causes of illness. This psychogenic event has everything to do with computational psychology and the internet. Facebook was not the first entity to use internet algorithms to brainwash people. That’s what controlling the emotions of people who don’t know how to control their emotions is. Brainwashing. Eliminating their ability to use their free will. I’ve seen zero efforts from any university to counter the obvious and blatant brainwashing of our youth. Y’all are corporate cowards in my book, and corporate cowards deserve a coward’s death. The entire concept of brainwashing leaves out the fact that free will is necessary and exists for good reason, so of course an attempt at brainwashing the entire United States populace is going to end in disaster. I just hope for the sake of everyone that it isn’t allowed to get worse. The area of psychology has gone in the completely wrong direction. The entire field was practically fulled researched by Freud and Jung, all it needed was to neutralize the pronouns and anything based on the pronouns into non-gender or non-race specific pronouns. Now the successful methodologies of hypnosis and psychoanalysis are done by supercomputers running off of secret black boxes in corporate labs. I hope y’all are fuckin’ happy with your careers. The United States is falling apart at the seams and the lower classes are struggling and dying at alarming rates. How am I the only one who can see what’s happening? The inability of academic professionals to view their own academic subjects objectively qualifies them as delusional. This is a fucking humanitarian war crime. Reality has turned into a living fucking nightmare. Fuckin do something about this. Can You See Red?

If we could step into the shoes of other animals, we would quickly realize that their perception of the world—starting with color—is very different. While humans have three types of cone cells in their eyes, a trio of photoreceptors detecting red, green, and blue wavelengths (which combine into millions of shades between 380 and 700 nanometers—the so-called "visible light"), other animals, like most birds, bees, reptiles, and some bony fish, can detect even higher frequencies, like ultraviolet (UV). Cephalopods seem to see only blue, while dogs have cone cells specialized for yellow and part of the UV spectrum.

Among insects, vision is typically sensitive to UV, blue, and green. Even though bees seem attracted to red, in reality, they follow UV reflections on flowers of that color. However, there are beetles in nature that regularly visit poppies, anemones, and buttercups—flowers known for their vibrant red. A group of researchers wondered: are these beetles truly “red-blind” too?

To find out, they collected specimens of Pygopleurus chrysonotus, from the Glaphyridae family, in Greece, Albania, and Israel. In the lab, they exposed isolated retinal cells to constant-intensity lights, recording electrical activity with ultra-fine microelectrodes. The results revealed the presence of four distinct types of photoreceptors: UV, blue, green, and red.

But simply having red receptors doesn’t prove they are used. So in a second phase, the researchers tested the visual choices of P. chrysonotus using paper discs—3 red and 12 gray, all identical in size but with varying brightness. If the beetles relied solely on brightness, they could have chosen a lighter gray. Instead, 22 out of 23 flew directly to the red disc, regardless of the gray intensity.

Finally, in the field, they set up colored traps in a meadow: cups of water with inserts in red, white, blue, violet, or yellow. Again, the majority of beetles ended up in the red cup.

These findings suggest that P. chrysonotus has developed a rare sensitivity to red among insects—perhaps to exploit a chromatic niche less accessible to other pollinators. In return, flowers may have intensified their red pigments to attract these beetles more effectively.
