I'm going to be talking about a game today.

For now, we won't be talking about the things happening with the creator. Only the game. I've been wanting to talk about this game for a while, but haven't had the guts to due to the creator and the horrible things she and her husband have done.

Today I'm going to be talking about the game Your Boyfriend. Yup. T h a t o n e

Like I said, for this post we will only talk about the game. Nothing on the creators because I don't believe it is my place. If you want to know about it, I suggest this video

Again, we will ONLY be talking about the game.

So, trigger warnings: obsessive love disorder, ranting, you boyfriend game, murder, etc.

So without further adue, let us proceed.

So if you don't know what YBG is, YBG is a visual novel horror game about a man who is obsessed romantically and sexually with you the player.

The man will be referred to as Peter seeing how that's his name- anyway.

First, let me say I've only seen up to day 2- or whatever day He kidnaps you. Yeah he does that. So my summary might not be accurate

So the game begins with you being at the park, your favorite spot. Here you meet Peter who claims to be your boyfriend. You can either go with it, or not. Your choice.

I haven't seen a playthrough in a while, so this is rusty. You later go to a flower store and meet him again, reaching for the same rose you are. He's like 'oh sorry' and you can react negatively or positively. Reacting negatively will make him hold the rose super right he bleeds.

Anyway the day ends with him at your window. Spooky/sarc.

Already right off the this sucks. But we ain't done we have day two.

In day two you go to your job, and you meet TK, your fellow employee, and someone who has romantic feeling for you.

During your job you see Peter again. Again being able to react negatively or positively, each ending in a different reaction. If you act positively, he'll walk you home, in which Dom..? I think, your landlord says your roommate hasn't been paying their share and might need to be kicked out. Peter offers to live with you with sexual intentions. If you agree your roommate will appear and be pissy.

Now if you react negatively, go finish your shift and go home, your roommate, Lucy is her name, noticing you look distraught. You two get high or drink, I don't remember, and I think y'all end up fucking.

Now here is where the next part comes into play, where you have a horrible headache or smt and leave your room to find pills. You see a figure in front of you, and you think it's Lucy and they are offering pills. Before you can react, they are shoved into your mouth and your mouth is covered and you hear Peter say something so forgettable that I don't care.

Nice. This game STINKS.

Not only does it romanticize a person with obsessive love disorder, it's just not scary!!! Yes the concept is truly horrifying, seeing how it's something that has, and does happen!! But this game treats it like us haha silly. And it's like. FUCK NO.

This game HAD potential.

Let's also talk about the style of the game- the visual novel style.

This style is only good for horror Under VERY specific circumstances. It needs to be done right, and holy hell does this game not do it right. It's terrible. The game just tells you the thing to fear outright or shows you completely. There isn't any FEAR here. It's not SCARY. Orginally when I first learned of the game, I was pretty young, but I still had my obsession with psychology, so I thought this game was going to be a psychological horror, and show the fear behind this concept.

BUT NO.

IT JUST THROWS JT AWAY GOD DAMNIT!!! INTO THE BIN!!!

And I HATE how this game claims to be mature for more than the sex themes!! Fuck, bendy and the ink machine, a mascot horror game for 13 plus is scarier than this shit.

I'm planning out to finish All of Your Colours and have 2 more fanfics in the works.

I know I've been gone for a while and haven't been on to the Fandom as I was before. I'll be honest with you all, it was due to the harassment I kept receiving.

I kept getting asks, emails, and DMs on my insta and X accounts constantly calling me names or threatening to dox me. All because I'm big into the YB Fandom. According to these accusers, something Fuboo did involving a minor and sexual harassment, the story seemed to vary from person to person. Now I had no idea this was a thing and this had happened, but I wanted proof so I tried searching for it and asking for proof. It seemed that everything was coming up inconclusive.

Now, let me tell everyone something very, VERY important. I don't condone violence or the sexual harassment or exploitation of a minor in any way. I hate that, and I'll go up in arms to protect all children.

HOWEVER, I am very weary of lack of evidence when it comes to someone accusing another of these sexual claims.

If Fuboo did this, I'm disgusted and disappointed, but I'm gonna be neutral because false allegations are also a thing.

Vic Mignogna, Keanu Reeves, Jason David Frank, and so many others have been accused of Grape, and sexual misconduct only to be proven innocent and their reputations nearly ruined. Because of this, I'm super wary of allegations until evidence is solid. I knew a kid in high school who was accused of sexual misconduct. He was 18, and the girl accusing him was 15.

Police were called, he was thrown in holding, his parents berated him, he lost his scholarship, family, friends, and girlfriend.

He went through a spiral and was found unalive in his home. He drank some pills he stole from his grandma, (the only person who believed him) and overdosed. It wasn't until then that the girl confessed she lied, because he rejected her and she was humiliated. I don't know what happened to her because I moved away, but I told myself until I see solid evidence or proof I don't want to whole heartedly assume something of someone until proven otherwise. So regarding all of this, because I do like others in the Fandom and I'm a fan of indie game companies and the game is fun, I don't care about the harassment anymore and I'm just going to continue with my blog and fanfic.

I hate how at the start of the YBF fandom Peter was a loving sweet guy, and know he’s an apathetic selfish asshole who hurts y/n ((us)) as a punishment. Like.. no. This isn’t who I fell in love with. And I know that’s how he acts is “just in the game” but it still hurts 😭

And OH MY GOD the part where he cuts your leg off?! Like wtf!? I was told that was never gonna happen but then it did. Fucking hate fuboo. I really, really do. She ruined everything.

But then when I go to talk about this with people on other platforms they go on about “it’s a horror game, what did you expect?” I KNOW ITS A HORROR GAME. And I KNOW it’s a bit cheesy but I fell in love with the characters, so when the characters are represented canonically as apathetic psychos.. it hurts, y’know????? Idk how to describe it. Does this make sense?

[I feel that. We were given guidelines and then told how the character was going to be. Then later down the line, the information we were given is then crossed off and rewritten to counter what we've been used to for so long. Creators do have the right to do with their characters as they wish, but to make changes for the sake of shock and gore...Imagine if one day, the person that made Barney was sick of him being family friendly and made Barney eat the kids because "he's a dinosaur, that's just part of the character". The world would go fucking nuts!]

Lowkey, I'm so glad to read the history of YB. I really enjoyed the content I was able to find of him with the game, Day 1 & 2. It was hard to find info about this game at first, so I read the wiki of course. I saw the traits of a wholesome yandere, if such a thing could exist. A yandere who wasn't violent with their target. That sounded like my jam!

So I supported the Patreon cause I wanted to see how far along the game was and to play it for myself, because nothing beats personal experience.

I want to lay my thoughts out as I process why I like YB and what disappointments I've come to have with the game and maybe what I would like to have seen done instead. I'm not a game dev, so I'm coming at this without knowing everything involved in making a game.

[SPOILERS BELOW, DUH. I mean for ALL currently playable days.]

Day 1 is pretty sparse, but I likened it to being a demo of what to expect. Since YB said things like "I'm your boyfriend. Isn't that why you're here?", I took it to mean he was aware everyone who downloaded the game wanted him to be their boyfriend. However, maybe Y/N is sentient in their own world and is mostly like wtf is going on with this dude. It would also explain the "mixed messages" he says we are sending him when we reject his advances. I thought he might have even chosen to approach Y/N that day because he could see we, the player, were inhabiting their body.

In short, I was pretty thrilled to play a weird meta yandere dating sim. Moving forward, I am treating Y/N as an entity separate from myself. They are my (likely very unwilling) vessel, and even though I can influence how they behave, they obviously have their own will. They don't seem to know I'm possessing them either.

Day 2 has more dialogue and such, introduces the other characters, but I still find it doesn't feel like there is as much content as I would have liked. All answers that day basically led to the same way the day ends, which I find to be really weird. It makes me wonder if dev isn't sure how to do branching paths so that Day 3 can start exactly the way they need it to. Based on what I know about YB, it felt like he was in character in all routes until the very end when he just attacks. It's especially out of place when playing along with him.

As a side note, Y/N's personality has the biggest divergence in this day. If you are mean to YB on Day 1, then you are a complete asshole to everyone around you. This route is called the abuse route, I think, because YB will abuse you? However, I think of it as the abuse route because Y/N is really abusive to everyone around them and YB just sort of runs with that energy. (I am saying here: the player is influencing both Y/N and YB to be assholes, so we are basically the assholes in this route? I'm not trying to victim blame Y/N, but rather, I'm saying Y/N and YB are our victims. I would say Y/N is always our victim regardless...)

Day 3 is when shit hits the fan for the story in many ways. For Y/N, they just lost someone they knew, probably. TK or Lucy (who both seem to come off as potential love interests) or the Landlord/Don Williams (who doesn't read as a love interest at all to me, maybe I'm just oblivious as fuck) will die. Or, if you played Day 2 a certain way, a random person will be murdered.

My gripe with this is mostly that it comes so quickly, so soon, just a random murder of a major character. With how little content I feel there is in Day 2, I feel like I barely formed any attachment to TK, Lucy, or Don Williams, especially from the perspective of only having played the games.

This isn't to say they aren't great characters, because I think they are.

In fanon.

The fans have really taken these characters, the random snippets we know about them from various sources (the Tumblr and Wiki) and ran with them. Though these characters don't receive the same level of love and attention as YB, I feel like they have really enhanced any attachments people could form with their own skillful writing/observations.

Of course, I would be remiss if I didn't also point out how Peter comes off out of character on this day. He's pushy, demeaning, and outright abusive towards Y/N.

A part of me wonders: is he just pissed off because Y/N is in his way of getting to us, the players? Or is he actually not aware he is in a game despite what the creator said?

If he is aware he is in a game, and this is supposed to be out of character for him to behave this way, does that mean the game is forcing him to act like this?

But then he admits to grinding against Y/N at night when he sneaks in through the window. He doesn't just watch Y/N sleep, he touches them. That's not consensual for Y/N at all. I thought he was just a guy who was peeking at worst (still not great), but he actually sexually assaults Y/N. (Not to kink shame anyone, but outside of fantasy obv that is not okay.)

It really left a sore taste in my mouth. I thought this game was about a meta yandere guy who loves the player so much he is trying to take advantage of the game to talk to us through Y/N. Obviously, this is me building up my own expectation for the game, but I would have accepted any other way the game turned out as long as it was still meta and vaguely wholesome in his actions, at least with regards to him never hurting us, sexually assaulting us, or berating us.

But instead, it's just a simple "he's just Y/N's stalker" and makes no further attempts to speak to us, the players. It all just feels disappointing.

Day 4, I won't say much since the creator doesn't want much to come out about it, but I will say it gets a tad better, though its gross inside the context of Day 3.

YB returns to being a sweetie cutie pie, mostly because he finally won. Depending on how your route has been going so far, you can experience the 'erotic' part of the game. Currently, there isn't much CG to it, its a still image with smut. I'm not going to complain about it. I will point out you can tell him to stop and he will.

Which is really out of character for how he acted on Day 3. Does he respect our consent or not? Does he care about how we see him or not? Day 3 he's acting like a huge douchebag, and Day 4 he is like 'uwu okay i'll stop.' It feels inconsistent with the narrative of the game.

I'll stop discussing day 4 here.

Right now, I feel like this game is missing so much. I feel like the game relies on the player to find lore about YB on their own, rather than include it in the game. The characters don't have enough screen time for me to miss them when they are killed or absent from Day 4.

It seems we are supposed to meet a new character on Day 4 who is a friend of YB, but it seems REALLY LATE to be introducing a new character. This character has been known to die hard fans for like over a year, but we don't know ANYTHING about him aside from a short list of bullet points.

Then there is the mysterious Greta. YB's therapist or some such. Supposedly this person is encouraging Peter's behaviors. Why would they do this? What is going on? Will this character make an appearance in the game at all? If they do, why so late?

There's a chance that a completed Day 4 and 5 (aka a finished game) will tie this altogether, but unless more is added to Day 1, 2, and 3, I don't see it coming together in a satisfying way.

I'll still play the game when it's completed, and I'm staying in the fandom, because I love YB and the fan content for YB. I love the YB we have all collectively imagined, the one who is a yandere stalker, but isn't hurting us. The YB who is sweet and thoughtful, even if he's stupid enough to think stalking is okay.

Here's some fan content that I really enjoy and is what helped me build my own personal head canons about YB, the game, and what it all means:

Sugar Gives Me a Toothache (SGMATA) - This is a fanfiction on AO3 and its a masterpiece. In this, the game's Y/N is called MC, and the reader is a Y/N that stalks YB (Peter). There is so much longing, pining, sweetness, bittersweet, and just... I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

Game Over - A comic both on Twitter and Tumblr. It hasn't been updated in a long time, but it's still soooo good, and the art rocks.

And just all the random comics people draw for YB. Him being goofy and stupid. Him being a lovesick puppy. Him being a dangerous animal only Y/N can tame. All the memes and jokes. All very inspiring.

I guess in short, I really love YB more than I love the game, and I think YB might end up being something that transcends his own creator and becomes something that belongs to the fans.

So I slept on what anon said, and I think I know what's going on. If this is not correct, and the accusation came from something else, please let me know.

Basically, it has to do with the Your Boyfriend fandom on twitter...

It started with the accusations against the creator Fuboo. I never questioned the alleged victim. I do believe that there's something there. However, I think going into it is more complicated than people think. Serious accusations mean approaching these things cautiously.

What I didn't like, and I was plenty vocal about, was people using this situation and pile it on. Things like out of context like old videos, screenshots... or things that the victim never stated. Even things apologized for, and I have seen fuboo not repeat. These are bad and can take away from what the alleged victim stated. Taking focus away from the accusations at hand.

Then, these accusations escalated, and other people, close to fuboo or not, were being accused of things...

For me, when looking over these accusations, I asked for more. For example, if it was a screenshot of a Twitter convo, I would ask for a link or more because there may be more context. 9 times out of 10, I didn't receive such.

Keep in mind that a lot of this has nothing to do with what the victim alleged. More so with people within the fandom. Whether it's some close to Fuboo and defending her or to someone who had a controversial opinion on shota/loli.

Because I was asking for more evidence, not taking things at face value... I was lumped as a rape apologist, someone that's trying to silence those helping the victim...

Granted, I admit there are points I was in the wrong, like when I took screenshot of what they said, then make a claim like they're making fun of my reading disability. It was a vain attempt at trying to show them what they were doing. In hindsight, I shouldn't have done that. It really didn't do anything.

Then there was that spat I had with... a rather big twitter account that made a call-out post on me. Basically, I told them on here that the YB drama wasn't worth their mental health, and they're not the police. I think I still have the screenshots of what I said. When I deleted what I said here on tumblr is when the call-out post was made on twitter. Basically, trying to state I was trying to silence them. I think if you dig in my nsfw Twitter, you can find me arguing against them.

Ironically, that same twitter account made a new account just to get away from the YB drama.

In the end I kinda fell out of the YB fandom because all that happened.

But the sucky thing about Twitter is that it's a game of telephone.

Like I said, I got lump into a group... and this group is labeled as stalkers, rapist... just anything bad without solid evidence. Which bugs the fuck out of me.

Mainly, if you're not the victim, and you're calling these people, you don't agree with such serious things. You're the reason why people have such a hard time believing the victim.

What I find worse is people using victims' allegations for their own gain. Rather than helping the victim.

Anyways. I think that's where anon/anon's friend may have gotten the accusations I'm a stalker/rapist.

Or that they have me confused with another alien bunny.

I know that now that I have spoken out and requested that my information is removed from Stephenie’s account, you will be watching. I will tell you this. My safety has been threatened since Stephenie posted screenshots of my information. By law, her posting my information when I spoke out anonymously is a violation of my rights in many amendments in the US constitution. I will be taking the necessary legal action, and, unfortunately for Stephenie, since she made it clear that’s who she is, I have ALL of her accounts already added to my police report. It does not matter if her real name is Stephenie or not. 

I gave her a fair and square chance to get rid of the posts I asked her to. It was two posts, four clicks for her to delete at most. Instead, she got belligerent. She does not care that she has endangered me. She has also stooped to being classist against me, though that is a story for a later date.

Melissa King, your fans are willingly putting me in danger, and by allowing it, you are just as guilty. You are able to tell them not to post my information and yet you idly stand by, watching them do it. I have received death threats and been followed while driving the car YOUR FOLLOWER posted. 

Here’s what the rest of you need to know.

You will not receive any information about the case from watching my accounts, if you can even find the new ones I made for my safety. Yes, you’re reading that right, I deleted my old accounts. Unfortunately for you, I keep my life separate, and do not plan on changing that.

Leave my personal life the fuck alone. I have not attacked anyone else’s personal lives, and the fact that you stans are goes to show that you have no regard for human life in any capacity at all.

I think you are forgetting something VERY important and it's the thing most people who dont look deeply enough and miss about Your Boyfriend Game.

Peter is aware hes in a game, he knows the world around him isn't real, he doesn't care about other characters because he knows they're not real. He's obsessed with the player because 1) they are a real person 2) he was made to be players boyfriend

Because of that he believes that if you launch a game in which he is made to be your boyfriend, you inherently love him so he gets realistically frustrated if the player acts like they don't like him

Again, it's not so much about about stalker as it is about an ai being driven mad by their circumstances. Its Monica from ddlc type narrative.

Ahhh ok. Thank you for that! Again, I stopped associating with stuff for the game a few years back.

Still not the most original idea in the world, and ultimately doesn't fully work with the style of game (especially the actual horror parts) but it does make sense.

And yes someone better take that shit away from fuboo and throw Fuboo into fucking jail

Even knowing this though, I personally just don't like the game bc when I first knew about it it felt like I was tricked which sucked because I had to wait a whole year for someone to play day 2 only to realize it wasn't what I thought :')

But if you enjoy the game good for you as long as you don't support the creator 👍
