Introduction

Hello there and welcome to a revised edition of a blog that looks at 8 of the best Star Wars film Rip offs. this new Tumblr version will be split into two parts

One of the first sequences in the Tolerance film is a Star Wars spoof so this article peeked my interest our Star Wars Spoof was a bit less blatant than those featured in the movieweb article all we did for ours was spoof the opening dialogue crawl that opened all 9 of the movies in the Star Wars saga

To quote the movie web article Star Wars is one of the biggest and most successful science fiction franchises ever created. Beginning in 1977, the original film became one of many episodic movies now dubbed the Skywalker Saga, told in a trilogy of trilogies.Recounting the galactic civil war between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, Star Wars shares the sociopolitical consequences of space exploration and planetary conquest. On the surface, the franchise is a fairy tale told in space. Its formula and genre became so popular, it led to copycats in a galaxy not so far away.

Krull (1983)

Krull is a science fiction and fantasy adventure film about a royal family who will rule the galaxy as foretold in a prophecy. Playing off the fairy-tale-in-space trope, the film didn't know what to be as it tried cashing in on two genres for the price of one. The rip-off was also released the same year as Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, leading to an early death by comparison. However, it has survived being a box-office bomb and panned by critics with its own cult following.

Luke Skywalker's well publicized exploits on the Death Star were such a spectacular success that there was an air of inevitability when other Hollywood studios tried to make a "Star Wars" of their own. More remarkable was the fact that their subsequent efforts to milk the cash cow (or bantha, perhaps?) took such different approaches to outer space.

However, most of the wannabes ignored a crucial element of George Lucas's extremely lucrative franchise – for all the spaceships, robots, and lasers, "Star Wars" was actually fantasy in sci-fi clothing, built around a hero whose quest revolved as much around magic (cleverly rebranded as "the Force") as futuristic gadgets.

In the years following "A New Hope," viewers were invited to experience the high camp of "Flash Gordon," the overblown space opera of "The Black Hole," and a Roger Corman-produced interstellar riff on "The Magnificent Seven" called "Battle Beyond the Stars." "Star Trek" also got in on the act with the "2001: A Space Odyssey"-esque grandeur of "The Motion Picture," while T.V. viewers were given a weekly dose of sci-fi in their homes courtesy of "Battlestar Galactica" (arguably one of the best sci-fi TV shows of all time).

The Last Starfighter (1984)

The Last Starfighter follows teenager Alex, who is chosen to be a gunner in an interstellar war based on his high score in an arcade game of the same, a secret recruitment tool of the Rylan Star League. Alex is forced to save the dying alien squadron and destroy the enemy fleet, the Ko-Dan Armada.

He later stays to rebuild the league's depleted forces, knowing their overlord survived the destruction of his mothership. Compared to Luke Skywalker, the film takes the glory out of the hero's journey for Alex, who must protect a planet now facing near-extinction

My Memories of The Last Starfighter

A very good film I watched it as a 7 year old as my Dad got us to watch it on VHS remember those ? The Star Wars stuff went over my head the Ironic thing here is that I used my Star wars toys to play the last Starfighter for weeks after seeing it I have great memories of the film it was one of the first to use CGI before the term was even known about

After watching the G1 episode “City of Steel” I am 100% convinced that Scrapper loves alligators. Why else would he turn Optimus’ parts into an alligator?! He just thinks they’re neat. The other Constructicons have to deal with it. That gator has to deal with it too.

I watched Transformers One and it was SO GOOD WHAT THE FUCK??????? It was easily digestible even without previous knowledge of the series, (i just had to rewatch the intro to make sure I understood lol) but OH MY GOD IT DID NOT HOLD BACK THE ADULT THEMES LIKE ITS FUCKING BRUTAL IN SOME SPOTS. OOOHAHHAAHHAHHEEEHEHEE !!!!!!! VERY GOOD VERY FUN

How fucked up would it be if the real experiment of the Social Experiments beyond Showfall testing out a live audience with their show was them actually genuinely shutting off their control on Ranboo and maybe temporarily(?) Charlie’s during act 3 (while having the full ability to flip it back on if/when wanted) to see what they would do and how they would react if they ever actually started to broke free, so Showfall would be able to predict and squash any attempts at getting out if something ever went wrong with their fan favorites in the future.

waittt sonic posting but i believe sincerely that metal sonic doesn't want to be sonic, as in the the blue flesh hedgehog, but he wants to be his own version of what he thinks "sonic" is supposed to be. like to him "sonic" is a robot, and metal is a robot, therefore he is sonic. he's not trying to be someone hes not, bc metal believes that he already is sonic, he's trying to show others that he is already the true sonic.

My first time writing Brains! ... like, ever >w< Hope I did him justice-! In which Scott introduces Thunderbird One to Brains after he accidentally finds out she can talk.

It had only been him and MAX down in the hangar for the past half hour. At least so he thought…

The resident engineer had asked a question, out loud to himself, and someone had responded. They hadn’t spoken since… Brains had sent MAX off to investigate the vast of the hangar-space, to be on an alert for an intruder, and the little robot had still been off searching when Scott came down and eventually joined them. He was slightly bemused to find the engineer tiptoeing ‘round Thunderbird One’s thrusters with a spanner in hand.

“Brains?”

The aforementioned jumped and spun around in haste, only slightly relaxing when he realised who’d spoken his name.

“S-Scott! Oh… it’s, only you. I t-thought-…” He took a breath to collect himself before continuing. “I have r-reasons to believe, there might be something down here.”

“And it’s not MAX?”

“Correction; someone.”

Hands found his hips as Scott shot a side-glance up at his Thunderbird. Ohh… That had to have been the only explanation. So much for keeping her sentience a secret as long as they could…

“You’re not gonna believe this Brains but, I think I might have an idea who that someone might be,” he admitted, giving the engineer an apologetic look. “Sorry I didn’t mention it earlier.”

MAX had just come around and rejoined them as Brains returned Scott’s look with one of confusion. The eldest Tracy only motioned to his ship.

“T-Thunderbird One? But she’s just-…”

“Not anymore. Brains, something, happened and well, now she’s got this shard tied to her systems, which in turn has given her sentience and-… yeah,” Scott explained; his eyes still only focused on his craft. She was doing very well for not giving herself away again, and he quietly wondered what she was thinking. He had sort of, just suddenly sprung this upon her… “She’s a whole lot more than just a machine…”

The engineer glanced at the eldest Tracy expectantly, adjusted his glasses, then looked up at the Thunderbird again. Cogs were turning in his mind as he processed the words but, he wasn’t sure if he could believe it. Sure, technology was advanced enough for AI to give machines life but… a shard? Giving a machine sentience…? Before he could start to question anything Scott had told him, Brains quietened at the sound of a soft sigh… above them.

“You were waiting for me to break, weren’t you…”

Scott muffled a chuckle on the back of his hand. “Actually I wanted to see how long you’d last!”

“That’s the same thing!”

Laughing, Scott patted a thruster, looking to the engineer to seek his reaction. Brown eyes blinked, and Brains was stuck looking between him and his ship again.

“… She’s apparently a robot too?” the pilot offered with a slight shrug. MAX made a noise of amusement.

“… N-No MAX; I don’t think so… I think, she a-actually is,” Brains clarified, finally finding his words again. He startled when the Thunderbird shifted; her frame beginning to change, move… transform. He stumbled back, catching himself on MAX as he stared up, watching her. Thunderbird One then quietly knelt in front of them once she’d transformed, hoping that she hadn’t scared the engineer too much. Scott moved to her side, blue eyes seeming to sparkle as he looked up to her, glad she was brave enough to show her true form, before he looked back at Brains with a small grin.

“Brains, meet Thunderbird One.”

in regards to you being That tmm writer for me— even with 3 fics, you have some of my favorite characterizations ever and you seem to just intrinsically understand who the characters are in a very refreshing way. genuinely whenever i miss the tokyo mew mew cast i usually end up rereading all your fics ,, i adore Tokyo Miracle, too ! it's so wonderfully made. and every time, no matter what i read, i usually always end up giggling and kicking my feet. you're by far one of my favorite authors just because of the passion i can see in your works alone (⁠〃ﾟ⁠3ﾟ⁠〃⁠) . im always interested in seeing your thoughts on literally anything tokyo mew mew !!

but AAA THANK YOU?? That makes me so happy to hear... I actually have way more fics for other fandoms BECAUSE. when I write tmm I want it to be REALLY GOOD because I love it so much. so I tend to freeze up and just NOT put a ton out there fic-wise with it bc of that.

I also feel like my work tends to fill a few niches that I don't think would do well- e.i: crackships, and weird meta about how I think the science would go weird and trying to extrapolate on very specific lore that was not mentioned much in the series but I want more info on... whereas I think a lot of ppl looking for tmm fics/fan content like? fluff? cute content of the girls hanging out? (also love that) or common ships? (not to say I don't enjoy some of the more canon ones like mintkuro or masago etc but I know a lot of ppl are going to ao3 for. kishigo. not my wheelhouse but I hope they find good ones and have fun etc) so a lot of my ideas just stay as text posts on here lol (but I have had some banger au ideas as text posts. anyone who sees them is free to take them and run 🫡)

ok. here's what the thing i refer to as the "europa incident" was about. its about the game europa. i was having an insomnia and the game freaked me out. it was really uncanny to me and it freaked me out. first of all the sun was so big. why was the sun so big? was it ever explained why the sun was way big? it stressed me out and having to see the sun was eventually why i quit. second europa's gravity is like 1/10th of earth's. is the little boy simply extremely heavy. unclear. third of all where is the ocean? where did you put the ocean? are you on top of the ocean? is there a part where you drill into the ground and get into the ocean? what did you do to it?
