CUB'S DIARY

Saturday June 24th

6:53am

Scar’s not back.

He left at 7pm yesterday. I stayed up waiting for him, on the sofa and he never came back. Or if I did briefly fall asleep, he didn't wake me up coming in, I searched the house for any sight of him, and he’s not here. There’s no note, I can't check the tracker because my phone’s been wrecked by Big Salmon.

I’m trying not to get upset, or too anxious, but it’s hard. He’s at the mansion still. He could’ve freaked out, had a panic attack looking back at what we did. Big Salmon could’ve caught him. But more than that I’m scared that he’s gone too far, after leaving Mumbo behind before, he’s been an idiot and pushed too hard and now they’ve caught him, and are hurting him because of it, or his legs ran out of charge again, or an injury from before opened and stopped him doing anything. I don't know.

I’m probably going to look back at this diary entry and laugh at how silly all my fears were, but right now I’m fucking terrified for Scar. He’s been caught before, and it’s never ended well.

I wonder if the Jingler would be able to help him more than I could.

10:15am

I’ve had breakfast, had a shower, and calmed down a little from earlier, but I’m only getting more scared about Scar. He’s definitely not home. I’ve checked Symnet, and there’s nothing. I’ve been watching the news for mentions of HotGuy. Emailed Lizzie about checking Hub and she hasn't gotten back to me. (Lizzie has a fake Hub account for reading gossip, she isn't a criminal. I know this because I baked the cake of Joel’s decapitated head that she posed with for her profile picture). Bought a new phone, but it’ll take a couple days to arrive. I have a burner phone from ConVex days that we only used once, and I know Joe’s number, in case I need him over.

I did more research on the fungus from Codfather's – yes, it is a fungus. It’s known as sculk, there’s been a couple papers on it, the most interesting by a ‘Shelby Shrub’. I got a screenshot of the ‘scientifically approved’ part of the article here (the whole thing is too long) but the rest is even more interesting. She's suggesting using specialized sculk cells as a way of completely replacing missing or broken limbs. I’ve printed a copy of it for my growing file of pictures, diagrams, etc. I think I’m going to continue researching based on that now.

Had a panic attack. Called Joe over. They’ve taken HotGuy prisoner. Jevin left pictures in the comments of some of the injuries they've left him with, and audio of them torturing him for information about me. He said nothing. He said absolutely nothing as they were

Holy fucking shit what the fuck have they done. I wish I hadn't called joe I want revenge. I want to get so high on vex magic that all I feel is rage and tear Jellyfish and Barracuda to shreds with my bare hands. I want to go to the mansion now and make them pay for even considering what they did. I want to rescue Scar and Mumbo and keep them here where no one can ever hurt them ever again and burn the mansion to the fucking ground with everyone in Big Salmon inside.

Joe’s here, but I can't tell him anything. I can't tell him anything at all, not why Scar’s gone, not what’s happening, even though I would trust him with HotGuy, and ConVex, but I can’t. Not without Scar’s consent, it’s his secret.

Joe’s still here to comfort me. I’ve avoided all his questions asking where Scar went. The news about HotGuy has to get out soon.

I had lunch and then vomited up everything. Back on the sofa crying now.

16:57pm

Still on sofa. Watched something about telescopes with Joe. It mentioned convex lenses and I almost had another panic attack. Joe said he’d be happy to stay the night. He can't be here when Scar comes back as HotGuy. So I’ve lied that I'm feeling better and that Scar will be back soon and he’s left. And now I'm alone again and feeling worse than ever.

7pm

It’s been 24 hours since Scar left. HotGuy’s still caught. No one’s shared anything with Symnet. But #WTFHotGuy is trending again. Everyone’s worried about Mumbo’s execution tomorrow. Sorry, I mean, HotGuy’s reaction to Mumbo’s execution. They’re wondering whether he’ll do something, or if he actually wanted Mumbo to be caught.

The police shared a missing poster for Scar. Jimmy’s pestering me about it. Skizz asked questions over the phone, I tried to tell him I knew where Scar was, but he saw through my lies.

Now there’s some ‘Cuteguy’ claiming he’ll do something if HotGuy doesn't appear soon.

I didn't have dinner. I’m too worried to feel hungry 

10:15pm

Still on sofa. Threw up again from anxiety about Scar. I feel really dizzy and tense. I want Joe back here with me, but I still can’t have him here when Scar comes back as HotGuy. He can’t know. Scar would freak out if he knew I’d told someone.

Sunday June 25th

2am haven't slept. Feel awful. Everything hurts. I need Scar. All I can think about is him, trapped, hurt, what they could be doing to him. All I know is that Mumbo’s still alive, because they said they were going to kill him this morning.

 Lizzie emailed again with another message before the upcoming broadcast. They’ve confirmed they’re in the Woodland Mansion. Some part of me wants to reply as Jingler. The rest of me can't possibly leave this sofa

2:15am

Skizz called again. He’s asking about Scar again. He mentioned Scar being Jangler, if he said anything about the mansion, repeated about Big Salmon being there. I gave him as much as I know, I told him I was Jingler. He said he’s already guessed, but would never tell anyone. I think the police are going to the mansion to stop Big Salmon.

5:15am

I fell asleep and had a nightmare. Don't want to think about it. Recorded it in my nightmare journal only. Lizzie messaged again. She’s got a link for the execution. I’ve got it open. Scar will be on it. I can use it to help him. I think I’m gonna use the Vex from afar. I can't go there myself, I just can't. It’s too late, we promised not to use Vex magic unless it’s an absolute emergency and we both agree. I just have to wait. It’s all I can do for Scar I wish I could do more. I hope he’s ok. They haven't said anything about the police coming around, Skizz hasn't called again.

6am it started. Will just watch and help however I can. This is gonna go viral so no point in writing the details. So I’ll write more afterwards, and hope Scar and Mumbo make it out alive.

ok so, graphology, right? the study of handwriting - but make it actually scientific instead of psuedoscientific

do a linguistic study, or historic-lingustic study on say, whether or not there are like dialects of handwriting? see if there are regional differences that are consistent, like if regional distictions exisit: is it curriculum, or region, or school system, or socioeconomic status, or race? are there any correlations? can you trace back different variants of handwriting to different cultural movements, or school systems, or teachers, or handwriting publications?

has this been done? I may look into it myself later, if I remember. if you know some resources, I'd love to get a hold of them!

This one is fun! I know about graphology and always thought it would be fun if someone analysed me by my handwriting, lol.

8. any reacquiring dreams?

No, lately I don't have any. I used to have dreams that shared motifs: an elevator that couldn't take me home, me dating someone else than my current partner and being very sad about it (😅). But nowadays, they're all gone.

Graphology - studying Amane's handwriting

I said in a previous post that I used to like graphology, so I decide to analyse for a bit one of Milgram's characters handwriting. Amane was chosen after I spinned the wheel, because I couldn't decide who to do!

Before proceeding, I want to remind that it was done for fun, and, because I only have her signature, I couldn't put all the information found on different sites!

1. "Pointed letters are a sign of an intelligent person who might be holding back aggression. Rounded letters signal creativity and artistic ability."

For this, I had to look at other Milgram characters handwriting in order to decide if her writing can be considered more on the rounded spectrum or pointed spectrum.

When compared with Kotoko's handwriting, which appears to be more agressive or with Fuuta, whose writing seems to lack any roundness, I couldn't consider Amane's handwriting as pointed. With the exception of letter A, the rest are quite rounded and the letter u, for example, looks similar with Yuno's (who without a doubt has rounded letters)

Amane, although she often tries to study and says that she likes it, is confirmed that she doesn't necesseraly has a special inclination towards it, or, at least, towards the more logistic subjects, such as math.

"Amane: ……what’s wrong, Shidou-san? Your hand has stopped marking. This is mathematics, so there’s no questions about the answers. If I got something wrong, please mark it with an X."

(skipping some dialogue!)

Amane: …please give me back my test. It seems you don’t have the concentration levels required to be my teacher. I’m going to get Kotoko-san to teach me instead."

And Amane asks her in a future interrogation question, in which Kotoko says this:

"Kotoko: There, I’ve finished marking. 83%. How do I put it… Even though you act like this, it’s not like you’re super brilliant at studying or anything, huh."

However, Amane prides herself with her japanese skills, literature being considered as a form of art, because you need lots of creativity in order to write a proper composition.

"What are your special skills?"

If we also consider Amane's first MV, called Magic, in which there are a lot of cartoonish elements, it proves further that Amane has an artistic ability!

2. "The size of a writer's letters shows how they fit in with their environment. Relatively large letters might indicate that someone demands attention, while smaller letters are typically written by someone who is modest and unassuming."

Amane is very modest, learning since an early age to appreciate the smallest things, hiding her temptation for cute objects or desserts, being happy with what she has.

From Purge March, we descovered that Amane's financial situation doesn't seem to be very favourable.

Old furniture, messy rooms. The walls from the front are cracked, indicating that it is a very old building.

And still, when asked if she wishes to do something, her response is negative, saying that she doesn't lack anything.

"If you could do anything and be forgiven for it, what would you do?"

Even when it comes to birthdays, she doesn't necesseraly want an object as a gift, being happy with just a "Happy birthday" addresed to her.

"Kazui: Even so, though, it’s not like I have a present to give you or anything. Sorry…if push comes to shove, maybe I can ask the guard for a cake. Depending on their mood, they might agree to it.

Amane: No, that’s fine. I’m not especially fond of that sort of thing. I’ll just accept your kind words as a gift."

Also, she doesn't seem to crave for attention in general, with her current state, distancing herself from most people, Yuno's interruption and approach, making Amane to feel a bit annoyed, uncomfortable.

"Amane: What is it…… Kashiki Yuno. Don’t sit so close to me. Go away.

Yuno: Sorry for barging in when you’re getting into your worldview thing. But Mahiru-san’s finally managed to get to sleep. Humour me with some small talk while I take a break."

"Small handwriting can also indicate someone with strong focus and concentration who tends to work on one thing at a time rather than multi-tasking."

In this small interaction between those two, it seems like, Yuno has distracted Amane from an activity, probably praying, and ultimely had to stop in order to listen to what Yuno has to say, meaning that she is not much of a multi-tasking person.

3."The space between letters shows the writer's need for personal space. Someone who writes with plenty of space between each letter typically doesn't like to be crowded and needs a lot of personal space. If their letters are closer together or even overlapping, it indicates they prefer to be around people and get lonely easy."

Amane writes with a lot of space between letters. As I stated before, she doesn't seem to mind loneliness, finding it quite comforting.

I could again put the interaction between Amane and Yuno, but I find it repetitive! So, I'll give other examples!

Amane enjoying a late night drink with the only company being Jackalope, pointing at her soft spot for animals.

Amane liking to study or read alone, being happy in a peaceful atmosphere.

4. "If your e's are usually narrow, you’re probably skeptical and uninfluenced by emotions. If you find that your e’s are usually large, you might be more open-minded and willing to try new things."

If we consider that Amane's handwriting is quite small, for her, the e's loop is surprisingly quite large.

We have to understand that Amane's unwillingness to try new things, such as desserts, amusement parks, or music, is because of her education and the way she was tought by her parents.

In reality, Amane is secretly wishing to eat desserts, to try cute outfits, to play with pretty things. However, she had to learn to refrain herself from doing so, because of the rules, in order to not receive anymore punishments and to be praised for being a good child.

"Shidou: Amane, I heard it was your birthday today. I asked Es-kun if we could get this cake to give to you……

Amane: I don’t need it. I’ll gratefully accept your well-wishes, but I don’t eat things like that. Also…… Shidou-san, I can’t say I’m especially fond of the way you assume that all children will love frivolous things like this.

Shidou: …Is that so… I apologise. I’m sure everyone else will be happy to eat it, so don’t worry about it. Sorry for intruding.

Amane: ……

……cake……"

Yes, she doesn't want to change her ways, her mindset, but that's because she can't just completely erase her education, what she believes in. In reality, in a place like Milgram, those rules and religion is the only thing left that seems familiar.

Moreover, this answer always stood out to me...

"If the world were to end tomorrow, what would you do?"

Amane is open to try new things, if something or someone wouldn't hold her back. If the world would end tomorrow, there is no reason is being afraid of a punishment, the consequences don't matter anymore. It's pointless to think about what would happen, when there is no future. So Amane believes that she can as well live the moment, experince as many new things as possible!

My passions encompass a fascinating mix of subjects: Architecture, Vexillology, Photography, History, Politics, Gaming, Mythology, Psychology, Symbology, Shin-hanga, Graphology, and Cryptology.

This October, I plan to dive deeper into each of these topics and share my thoughts, knowledge, and discoveries with you. I'll be dedicating time each week to explore a different subject, starting with Architecture on October 2nd, 2024. Whether you're an expert in these fields or just curious, I hope you'll join me on this journey.
