A couple of quick thoughts about today's events (or "EVERY 2.0," as I'm seeing some folks call it):
Everyone is passionate about and excited for Good Omens 3. There have been little to no details over the last few months, even during the course of filming earlier this year. This production has been a precarious one, from nearly being cancelled to being brought back as a 90-minute movie instead of the previously planned full season. Emotions have been running high almost nonstop, to where the atmosphere is nearly perfect for someone--be it marketing, be it PR--to tap in to the vibe for their own purposes.
It has been almost exactly two years to the day since Every, the now infamous "leak" of Aziraphale and Crowley's kiss at the end of season 2. Given that, it also feels like far, far too much of a coincidence that another, similar "leak" would occur so close to that incident. In all likelihood, today's events were not an accident, but rather a planned test to take the "temperature" of the fandom, among other things.
Further supporting this theory is the fact that the images of the concept art were posted on the art website one week ago, yet somehow the fandom was suddenly made aware of them today, in such close proximity to the anniversary of "Every." The images are also still posted on the website, on the artist's portfolio, meaning that had this been an unintentional oversight, it seems likely that the photos would have already been taken down, instead of left up for an entire week.
There has also been a great deal of discussion about consequences for the artist, yet it seems shortsighted if not unfair to blame fans for the artist's job being put in potential jeopardy. This person chose to post the concept artwork publicly, where anyone could find it. Even now, hours after all of this has happened, the concept art is still not password protected, and so the explanation of "It was supposed to be password protected" does not seem to hold much water. Ultimately, however, it was this artist's responsibility to ensure their work was secured, and it is also their responsibility if they did not.
Much has also been made about the possibility of season 3 being cancelled as a result of this incident, and I would just urge folks to think logically about this instead of blindly believing everything that you read. It is especially imperative in moments like these--where marketing and money are the chief motivating factors and the people behind these efforts have no qualms about emotionally manipulating a fandom--to think for yourselves and come to your own conclusions. Other fans may rush in to tell you to do this or do that, or don't do this, don't do that...but "groupthink" and hivemind mentalities are more often harmful than helpful, both to you as an individual and to the fandom at large.
Finally, to say that today's incident could cause GO 3 to be cancelled sounds and feels like little more than scare tactics. The concept art we saw today does not necessarily definitively give away plot points of the season (unlike "Every," which absolutely did). Given that filming is already completed and the amount of money that Amazon would stand to lose by pulling the show, it feels increasingly like this line was put forward to provoke an emotional response in fans.
Yet as the old saying goes, any press is good press...and the only thing that will get people talking more than a "leak" is that leak being an "accident" to cause panic and get folks to take everything down. Which will then make those who did see it chatter endlessly about what happened while making those who didn't see it wonder about it even more.
So those are all of my thoughts on what happened. The drama around all of this is truly exhausting, but hopefully we can find a way to discuss all of this calmly and collectively move forward as we await the release of the third season.

oooh oooh maybe. Flint’s one of those characters where I’m not sure if revealing too much about his 2.0 lore is spilling too much of the plot or not, but his comic is looking pretty far right now so….
maybe a little bit. for the sillies
2.0 Flint is almost always hunched over and watching his back (someone said he looks like a pangolin and just know—I love you bc you are so right)
Flint was built specially to work in a newly made factory located in the Brrrgh. The job is ruthless and the risk is high, but so are its temperatures! Flint thrives in the heat of course, not so much in the actual work environment though.
While he can’t make an appearance often, Flint is one of the new recruits to the Deforestation and Demolition team. He’s very valuable in terms of tree removal and demolition. His busy schedule might be the only thing saving Acorn Acres from being up in flames right now…
He has some similarities to the very popular character Godzilla. It’s mostly just small visual references though, like roaring and the atomic breath ( he was originally going to have spikes though! )
Also Flint misses Graham. Like a lot. They don’t have a lot of time on their hands right now but they’re trying their best.

SELLING AN E-BIKE TO THE MERCS. CAN YOU GUESS WHAT I DID RECENTLY?
scout: scout is more likely to get a moped than he is to get an e-bike. he doesn’t want to do the work of pedaling, especially if he can get the exact same range without the work. the team will say he’s being lazy, scout retorts they are literally getting bicycles with motors because they don’t want to pedal. they end up at a stalemate, and scout gets his little black vespa gts 310 supersport, and everyone is happy.
soldier: soldier wouldn’t get an e-bike until the fifth time he realized he couldn’t keep up with the team on bikes. rocket jumping is his preferred method of transport, but it is very hard to have the finesse to keep up with the team. he is almost always too far ahead, but he can’t run fast enough to keep up on foot, either. i would give soldier the velotric fold 1; because it will allow him to keep up, and he can fold it and use it as a heavy duty weapon.
pyro: pyro is getting a mooncool electric tricycle, and they’re putting tassels on the handlebars. pyro would request that engineer not only assemble it, but recolor the frame of the bike to their favorite pink— soft baby blush. and when it’s all put together (and engineer soups it up a little; a bigger battery, a travel charger, a range extender, some rear mirrors, a better bell, a comfortable seat) pyro is going hog wild. you will never see them again unless you see a flash of red and pink and the frantic dingdingding of them trying to get you to move out of the way. you might get hit. at least once.
demo: tavish gets the xpeak high step 2.0 long range e-bike. he would get the high step because he prefers the style. with the extended range, demo has what can only be considered a slower method of getting places. usually he just gets on the teleporters. but he does suffer from fomo when everyone else gets their own little bike or scooter. so he’ll get one that gets him wherever he wants, and can maybe carry a few things. it would never be a main method of transport for him, though.
heavy: it is no coincidence that the brand of this bike is called Giant. these bikes are GARGANTUAN. the medium size’s handlebars came up to my shoulders. these are not for me, these are for men like shaquille o’neal and misha, who need little more than a couple pushes before he’s coasting at a comfortable 20 mph. and the colors are gorgeous. the only issue is that these bikes have what is one of the lesser payload limits of most of these bikes. but these bikes are made for men who are a minimum of 5’10. he’s still getting a tandem seat, and a flatbed trailer to hitch to the back. for sascha.
engineer: engineer is more likely to borrow the other’s e-bikes than he is to get his own. otherwise, he is incredibly happy with his truck. he’ll see the team wherever their destination is. engineer, along with scout, are generally the carriers of the team wide bike rides. scout will carry whatever fits on his vespa, engineer carries everything else. extra batteries, extra water, a temperature controlled environment for anyone who doesn’t have it in them to continue, though that rarely happens. sometimes pyro will jump in the truck, just to make sure he doesn’t feel left out.
medic: y’all know this is my man, so we do have to be brand twins. however, i would not give him the exact model i have. medic would get the velotric packer 1, which was the initial model i was looking at. this is a beautifully built cargo e-bike, with some of the best power and carrying capacity on the market. when used conservatively, the range is 55 miles. medic would have a minimum of three extra battery packs because he’s constantly pushing the bike to its absolute speed maximum. he would also get a tandem seat, so someone else can pedal and he can enjoy the wind in his hair.
sniper: sniper would refuse to get an e-bike, but if the team urged him, he might get a brown ten speed bike to tag along. snipes’ van takes him everywhere he needs to go, and he likes the safety that comes with a vehicle. not to mention, he doesn’t really need the electric pedal assist. he might be at the back of the pack, but he can keep up with their throttles just fine. biking tires him out more than other modes of transport and other modes of mobility. the fact that he can take breaks almost makes his legs ache worse. and the seats aren’t comfortable.
spy: spy would be so picky, that when he finally sees the momentum line, he is taken aback by how much he would appreciate them as a brand. they are not particularly powerful bikes, but they are comfortable and best suited for inner city travel. he would also be willing to shell out the extra money for the liv brand bikes. the colors they have are absolutely stunning, but it’s a women’s brand (what even is a women’s bicycle), so of course the colors blow the other brands out of the water. same way that, aside from probably heavy, spy would have the most expensive e-bike.

yes i'm aware i did this yesterday but then @cyraclove had to go and tag me again and now i'm gonna copy @ebongawk and do a mash-up of both words (dance and heart) so here i go 😝 dearthnc it is
D: "do me a favor," wayne said as he swung his cleaver down and severed the fish's head from its body and unceremoniously shoved it off of his cutting board and into a bucket, "go dump this abomination and then forget all about it, kiddo." (dredge au) E: Eddie Munson started working at the theater the same time Chrissy did—all of the employees did, what with the grand opening starting right after school let out and most of them being high school students—but she didn't know about it until towards the end of her first shift, when Eddie strolled right past the ticket booth without even looking at her. (starcourt cineplex au) A: As often as Eddie stares at the retreating forms of cheerleaders, he can't identify this one from her naked back, no matter how badly he wants to. Even her hair isn't that much help, given he can't really tell what color it is when it's wet. (voyeurism 2.0) R: "Ready for the next leg of our intrepid journey?" Eddie asks, distracting her from her own thoughts after clicking her seatbelt into place. (roadtrip au) T: The hours she's spent at cheerleading practice do tend to fly by, but somehow that doesn't seem right for what Eddie's talking about. The only thing that seems sort of close that Chrissy can remember is when she was a child and would spend hours upon hours coloring on any scrap of paper she could get her hands on. (lock-in au) H: He stirs a little once he's on the mattress, rubbing his fist over his face and squirming but ultimately staying fast asleep. Chrissy breathes a slow sigh of relief and watches him for a minute or two before turning away. (married hellcheer one shot) N: Now that she's somewhat acclimated to the temperature inside the building, her multitude of layers are definitely overkill. (jury duty au) C: Chrissy sinks her teeth into her bottom lip and tucks her hands behind her back, digging her nails into the flesh of her wrist. Maybe a little bit of pain will keep her distracted until Eddie's finished talking, prevent her mind from wandering any further down the dark path of temptation. (youth pastor au)

I basically made this on an impulse, please don’t take it too seriously. Feel free to suggest more organisms!
Explanations under the cut.
Tardigrades: You probably all know this one. Commonly said to be polyextremophiles, but this isn’t actually true; while they can survive extreme conditions, they don’t thrive in them. Something you might not know about them is that all of their body segment genes are equivalent to arthropod head genes — meaning they are basically walking heads.
Demodex: Eyelash mites.
Diatoms: Geometric silicon shell creatures.
Nylon-eating bacteria (Paenarthrobacter ureafaciens KI72): Exactly what it says on the tin.
Myxozoa: Microscopic parasitic cnidarians. Lack digestive systems, circulatory systems, gonads, and even muscles in some species. Occasionally single-celled, depending on the life cycle stage. Also may or may not be autonomous cancer cells.
Thiomargarita: The only macroscopic bacteria. Honorary microorganisms for the purposes of this image.
Wolbachia: Parasitic / mutualistic bacteria genus that has created numerous insect species through their effects on reproduction. (Infected females can become capable of parthenogenesis, while infected males are either killed, turned into females, or limited to reproducing only with females infected by the same strain.)
Deinococcus radiodurans: A bacterium which unofficially holds the title of “most extreme extremophile”. Can survive incredibly high doses of radiation, as well as high acidity and very low temperatures.
Dicyemida: Symbiotic (once mistakenly thought to be parasitic) animals that live in cephalopod kidneys. Have alternation of generations and used to be known as “Rhombozoa” (“rhombus animals”).
Facetotectans: Parasitic crustaceans with an unknown adult form. Attempts to artificially induce metamorphosis only produce another juvenile stage, as far as anyone can tell.
Metal-breathing bacteria: Bacteria which use nanowires to accept electrons from metals.
Limnognathia: One of the smallest animals, and has 15-part extensible jaws.
Disulforudis audaxviator: The only known organism to comprise a single-species ecosystem. Lives over a mile underground and feeds off the byproducts of radioactive decay.
Salinella salve: Possibly nonexistent simple animal, allegedly cultured by Johannes Frenzel in 1892 but never found by anyone else.
Warnowiids (Warnowiaceae): A family of dinoflagellates which have modified some of their organelles into an eye… which somehow works well enough for them to aim their stingers at prey, despite them having no brain (or even other cells) to process the images.
Haloquadratum walsbyi: A square that lives in salt.
Dicopomorpha echmepterygis: The smallest known insect, a parasitoid wasp smaller than a Paramecium.
Hemimastigophora: A group of organisms recently discovered to be an early-splitting branch of the eukaryotes.
Monocercomonoides: A genus of “excavate” “protists” (both terms are polyphyletic, lol) that lack mitochondria… or even the genes for them.
Parakaryon myojinensis: The only complete incertae sedis, for which not even the domain is known. Has an odd mix of eukaryote and prokaryote-like features, leading to speculation that they represent a second incidence of endosymbiosis (aka Eukaryota 2.0). Also my blog’s namesake.
Collodictyon: Considered unclassifiable for a long time. Not really that weird in and of itself, tbh.
Kamera lens: Continuing the theme, this is an alga that has proven weirdly difficult to classify despite having been known for centuries (though it’s been narrowed down to the Ochrophyta). Its funny name makes it a pain to look up.
Jeongeupia sacculi: Recently-discovered multicellular(!) bacterium. Unlike everything else on here, it doesn’t have a Wikipedia page (yet).
Meteora sporadica: “Protist” which moves by rowing with a pair of arm-like appendages. Another difficult-to-classify organism, although a study from earlier this year suggests they are related to the Hemimastigophora.
Kakabekia barghoorniana: Apparent Paleoproterozoic living fossil that looks like an umbrella.
Magosphaera planula: A sphere which splits apart into amoeba-like cells, observed by Ernst Haeckel in 1869. Also possibly nonexistent / misidentified.

Feels like it. - Yuu hugs hard rocks.(Even Riddle confirmed that this guy is a muscle rock. You should go for a massage…)
His temperature is definitely higher than human due to the fact that he is a beastman, but lower to survive the heat of his homeland. +Hugging with red-hot stones.
Gods have mercy on Yuu's soul if Leona decides to sleep in an embrace in the fierce heat. They will die from overheating.
Definitely braids will climb into the eyes, mouth, nose - a small spoon. Trying to be a big spoon? This will be the last thing you do before you get into a peaceful voyage in Charon's boat.
If sleeping next to you may not be on purpose? (try to prove it) beat the tail.
Leona is not a fan of tactility, but she can tolerate it a little. from time to time. in a good mood. Perhaps. If your confidence level is increased, congratulations! The lion will let you near him and not try to devour-kill.
If hugs with Malleus.

If average global temperature rises are to be limited to 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels (in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement), climate finance globally will need to increase to about $9 trillion a year globally by 2030, up from just under $1.3 trillion in 2021-22.
According to the International Energy Agency, 30 percent of climate finance globally needed—around $2.7 trillion—will have to come from the public sector, with the remaining 70 percent coming from the private sector.
This is the scale of the world’s climate finance needs. However, when viewed in the context of governments’ other spending priorities, $2.7 trillion in public money is achievable. Indeed, in 2022 governments spent $7 trillion on fossil fuel subsidies alone.
A large portion of that $2.7 trillion must flow to developing countries in the form of grants and concessional loans. Official development assistance (ODA), provided by traditional donors in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), will not get us there alone. ODA hit a record high of $287 billion in 2022 but only because developed countries shifted resources to aid in Ukraine’s defense; in previous years, it hovered around just $236 billion. A surge of right-wing politics in the United States and Europe has forced budgets down, and even Emmanuel Macron’s liberal government in France has reneged on previous aid commitments.
For all but a few emerging economies, developing countries’ greatest climate challenge is not solely a lack of private finance for mitigation projects but a lack of low- or no-cost public finance for adaptation and loss and damage efforts. Despite their social returns, adaptation projects such as infrastructure upgrades and sea walls do not deliver immediate financial returns to investors and are notoriously difficult to scale for the private sector.
Both developed and developing countries have been vocal about the need for new forms of public climate finance beyond ODA, and they are considering different options under the rubric of “innovative finance.” The recognition has been particularly important in discussions on the newly created Loss and Damage Fund. At last year’s U.N. Climate Change Conference in Dubai, or COP28, countries pledged around $700 million to capitalize the fund—including an unexpected $100 million from the United Arab Emirates—but it will need billions of dollars to respond to more than one country crisis. This is why the fund’s bylaws encourage its capitalization through a “wide variety of sources, including innovative sources” inside and outside the Paris Agreement.
There is no single agreed definition of innovative finance, but it generally refers to any financing mechanism or arrangement that mobilizes, governs, or distributes resources beyond ODA. Most innovative finance mechanisms, such as “blue bonds” or the International Monetary Fund’s Special Drawing Rights, still depend on loans and the largesse of rich countries, whose leaders also face tough inflation and consequential elections. These are just two reasons why such initiatives have stalled or failed to live up to expectations.
On the resource mobilization side, many countries have come out in favor of new global taxes to fund climate needs in developing countries. Here, as in other areas of climate, small island states and low-income countries are providing essential leadership. They are also finding allies in the global north. Taxes on shipping, fossil fuel production and subsidies, air travel, financial transactions, and extreme wealth feature prominently in agendas to reform the international financial architecture, such as Barbados’s Bridgetown 2.0 and African leaders’ Nairobi Declaration, and in the recent Paris Pact for People and the Planet. These calls have been taken up by a new International Tax Task Force, launched by France and Kenya at COP28, to deliver a verdict on the options available.
Beautiful ideas and big numbers abound, but the real challenge is more direct: Who pays? Industries will always pass the tax on to the consumer—but which consumers, where? There is also a question of equity and justice: Why should consumers in developing countries be taxed to pay for a problem they did not create?
It’s possible to create taxes that incorporate such concerns. Founded in 2006 by Brazil, Chile, France, Norway, and the United Kingdom and hosted by the World Health Organization, Unitaid is a successful global health program for low- and middle-income countries that receives over half its funding from air passenger levies. The levies—introduced as low as 1 euro for economy seats on flights within Europe and up to 40 euros for business seats on long-haul flights—are collected and earmarked for Unitaid by governments in 10 developed and developing countries. By 2012, the levies were raising between 162 million and 175 million euros per year, totaling 1 billion euros since its creation. According to an assessment by the French government in 2009, “The introduction of the levy had no apparent effect on the volume of air traffic passing through French airports nor on the volume of air traffic affecting France.”
But finding examples of similar financing success is hard, especially on a global scale. Many options have been proposed, such as taxes on shipping, aviation, fossil fuel production or exchange, financial transactions, and extreme wealth, but only shipping has made serious institutional progress. Last year, countries in the International Maritime Organization (IMO) agreed on a decarbonization strategy for the shipping industry that depends on the introduction of a global tax. This would make a tax on shipping, responsible for 3-4 percent of global emissions, the first global carbon tax. According to estimates from the World Bank, such a tax could raise $40 billion to $60 billion per year.
That is the upside. The downside is that the shipping industry and many countries with shipping interests are willing to agree chiefly because they expect the revenues to flow back into the shipping industry to fund their push for ships and ports running on accessible, but still expensive, hydrogen and ammonia fuels. It is difficult to achieve a global tax; it is more difficult still to retain the revenues. As of the last IMO meeting in March, a proposal spearheaded by a group of Pacific small island developing states that would allocate the majority of the revenue to broader climate objectives is one of several options being considered as the economic measure to deliver the decarbonization strategy.
A number of countries have expressed interest in establishing international climate solidarity levies, or ICSLs, to pay for addressing loss and damage, but the campaign is still waiting for a developed-country champion. Should one emerge, ICSLs at the national or city level could raise substantial and predictable additional revenues for the Loss and Damage Fund. Oxford Climate Policy’s Benito Müller, a leader in the current campaign for ICSLs, estimates that a 5 euro air levy on all air tickets across the European Union would have raised around 1 billion euros in 2019, while—following the proposal by the IMO’s Emission Reduction Scheme—a levy of 10 euros per maritime container across the same jurisdictions would in 2021 have generated 924 million euros.
In the end, taxes and levies are a question not of economy per se but of political economy. This is the challenge before the International Tax Task Force: to evaluate and advance proposals based on political feasibility as well as projected impact.
Consider one prominent idea, for a global tax on extreme wealth where billionaires are charged some small portion of their net worth every year. Gabriel Zucman, a top French economist, has championed the idea, as has French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, who said in April: “This is exactly what we did with minimum taxation on corporate tax. … It would be the same on the international taxation for the wealthiest individuals.”
Just days after Le Maire’s endorsement, finance ministers from Brazil, Germany, South Africa, and Spain endorsed the idea of a 2 percent minimum global tax on billionaires. In a co-written Guardian article, the ministers declared that such a tax would “boost social justice and increase trust” as well as generate more than $250 billion in revenues for governments to invest in public goods. The ministers also urged the G-20 to take up the idea on its agenda at its July meeting, in Brazil. While this is encouraging, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen dismissed the “notion of some common global arrangement for taxing billionaires with proceeds redistributed in some way. … That’s something we can’t sign on to.” The wealth tax may move forward despite Washington’s concerns, but it is unlike to involve any formal mechanism for redistributing revenues across countries.
Innovative finance is not a silver bullet, nor is it a substitute for developed countries’ existing climate and development obligations. The majority of public funding for climate finance will still have to come from direct government outlays. This requires strong and empowered public sectors in developed and developing countries alike. Recent gains in international tax reform suggest a way forward. More than 140 countries have agreed to impose a minimum effective rate of 15% on corporate profits, a policy launched by OECD countries in 2021. Tax reform efforts in the UN have also picked up speed. Following a historic breakthrough at the UN General Assembly in November 2023, the UN has started the negotiation of the terms of reference for a new Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation.
Despite the obstacles, we are at an inflection point in the long battle for new global taxes for climate. In addition to the leadership of developed-country and emerging-economy first movers, the continued leadership of small island states is essential. Small island states are champions of ambition by necessity. They sounded the alarm early and led the campaigns for adaptation and loss and damage finance, including in ambitious, practical, and yes, innovative, forms. Today, the world is closer than it has ever been to implementing a global carbon tax—thanks not to the great powers but to the small island states that found a way forward.

Essentially, this report argues that Earth is facing dire sea level rise — up to 20m — even if climate goals are met and the global average temperature is stabilized at 2 degrees Celsius relative to the IPCC baseline 1850-1900 average.
I discuss the main findings in this report, and have a look at what the figures tell us in specific areas of glacier melt, permafrost thaw and emissions feedbacks, Arctic and Antarctica polar temperature amplification and sea ice loss, polar ocean acidification, and changes to ocean circulation patterns and consequences.
By the way, we are heading to a 2023 global average temperature of 1.54 degrees Celsius or higher, and on November 18, 2023 the daily average temperature reached 2.0 degrees C above the IPCC baseline for the first time.
