Day 681

One of the issues of having out of sight, out of mind memory when it comes to my own health is that unless I’m tracking it, or am trying to be mindful of it, I’m not aware of changes for bad or for good.

Coupled by the fact ADHD medication is an assistant tool and not a cure, has created an interesting moment today.

I was having trouble focusing earlier this morning, and was clicking into things I really shouldn’t at a rate that was telling me that focusing was going to be an issue. Now, I just got off of heavy antibiotics earlier this week and it’s a Friday. As much as it annoyed me, I figured, at least it is a slow week for my brain to not be fully there.

It’s something I don’t think people really talk about enough, but you’re never going to be fully functional even with medication. Part of it is having to unlearn bad coping habits, because part of ADHD is not being able to regulate your own dopamine. It’s the reason why video games and physical lists work so well for me, the immediate feedback is satisfying. It is also the reason why long term and vague goal planning can get a bit messy.

And the other reason why medication isn’t the answer is because ADHD is complex, like anything with the brain it’s complex. There is also my occasional hyperfixations, occasional impulse control issues, or the weirdness that apparently most people lock up when they’re anxious or stressed where I feel the need to do the thing. There is a reason why ordering takeout to arrive 2 hours later so that I will stress clean to finish my list before my takeout arrives is a perfectly valid tactic.

So it made perfect sense to be a bit kind to myself that morning. Perhaps I just didn’t have enough capacity that week because of everything else going on.

At least… until I realized, about an hour and a half before noon, (so 10:30 a.m.) that I hadn’t taken my medication. Well, after mentally calling myself a dumbfuck, I went and took my medication, and then took a walk around my building. Got distracted by my neighbour’s daughter trying to teach another neighbour’s cat to tolerate a leash and harness for… longer than I would like to admit.

After I got back indoors and settled down to my desk, I then spent the next two hours banging out emails about appointments and cleaning up the ridiculous amount of database change requests. By the time 2 hours had passed I was well on track to getting some extra things I had wanted done.

I had wondered, as I was making a late lunch, if it would have taken me until I started absently reading fanfiction during working hours to realize something was amiss.

about Long COVID-19 symptoms being a serious thing, regardless of age:

In short words: anyone can be screwed over by this. Even sitting Presidents. And no, Paxlovid doesn't help with that really, it just sort of "takes the edge off" of active COVID infections, for some, maybe.

And yes, I read off the full list of Long COVID-19 symptoms and really just asked myself, yet again, "How AM I still alive ?" (/Bernie Meme) Besides the obvious: spite, and I'm literally too poor to die properly. Nono, people in this so-called "Christian Nation" want to offer their "prayers" to you, while you're flat on your back in a hospital bed (as I was) just so they can judge you for "being a sinner," but when it gets real and you're just a carcass, then everyone's too cheap to give you a proper burial. Nope, "he's a mope" and he goes in a vinyl bag and gets dumped into a landfill calling itself a Potter's Field because that's how the poor, homeless and destitute are treated here. Like trash.

And yes, the so-called "doctor" in charge of releasing me from the hospital with an untreated colon tear literally had the gall to do that to me, to prayer-dump his judgement on me like that, while I was flat on my back this past February. But enough about that tangent, sorry.

Point is Long COVID-19 can flatten the life and thought process out of anyone, especially if they've had repeated COVID infections. Note the past tense: it doesn't even matter if President Biden currently has a coronavirus infection or not. His immune system and internal organs have already taken the hit.

So yeah. That 25th Amendment over there is a thing. It describes a procedure. It's fairly modern and clear about it. It's not there to hurt feelings. President Joe Biden, fairly elected President, winner of both the popular vote and Electoral College vote, HAS TO step aside for health reasons. Vice-President Kamala Harris HAS TO step up and be allowed to serve as President Pro Tempore. She has dibs on that because she was fairly elected TOO alongside Joseph Biden, as you do.

And she's been a trial lawyer, it turns out. She'll be going against someone with 34 felony convictions, that can ONLY be addressed in the most extra-legal, non-Constitutional, corrupt and Ex Post Facto way possible by that corrupt Taco Bell Supreme Court over there.

So what's the problem again?

I just realized. One thing that Optimus will certainly be educated on by the Primes in the Haunted AU is the various was One Can Kill A Quintesson! Leaving some Autobots confused at times when he's teaching them in return because 'This sounds pretty Specific...???'

It's slightly competitive on the Primes' part because yeah, the Deceptions do got the High Guard being good at killing Quintessons too but. They're the Real Experts. (Are they salty? Naaaah they're not. Much. Kinda.)

they got so good at squishing the goddamn bugs and they're thrilled they can save Optimus the pain of figuring out their weak points through trial and error like they did. they're gonna make a pro out of their baby brother in no time.

and if they just so happen to know some of the Decepticons will be majorly pissed off at the fact OP is already on par with the best of what used to be the High Guard when he only has a fraction of their experience... well, happy coincidences, y'know?

and if they happen to teach Optimus how to crack open a Quintesson in just the right way to make some Decepticons see ghosts through him... that's between them and the people they're haunting :)

Anaxa’s character stories all being in mediums that have already been destroyed has me climbing the WALLS. Cerces looking through his memories. A study record that no longer exists. An improvised speech that nobody would have written down. Another fragment of memory that nobody got to see. The complicated bits of his character and explanations for his goals and Why he is the way he is will fade away and he will be remembered largely as a performer and a blasphemer. How will they remember him when so little of him yet remains?
