Comically levitates towards him like the scent of a particulary delicious, freshly baked pie was calling to him, and settles against him, content and happy.
He extends his arms as a bird would stretch its wing to wrap around Kaeya and draw him comfortably close. It's his little ghost, it seems, and now both stand snuggly against each other.

Top Cat Gang
Now I present the members of the Top Cat gang from the world of the Swat Kats, keep in mind that they are around 40 to 45 years old (quite older than their versions of Hanna Barbera and Jellystone), these sketches will be replaced with the final drawings eventually

Benny: He is currently the owner and cook of a Dinner restaurant, of the vintage road type

Brains: Together with Choo -Choo they opened a cafeteria near the Megakat university, he is the barista

Choo-Choo: Together with Brains they opened a cafeteria near the Megakat university, he is in charge of the administration

Fancy Fancy: He left Megakat City, years later he returned and works downtown in a suit store, he has some knowledge as a tailor

Spook: He traveled around the country on his motorcycle, at some point he got married, but everything ended badly, he returned to Megakat City to start over, he dedicates himself to motorcycle racing and his favorite hobby Demolition Derbys

If Top Cat were to have a proper finale, how do you think it should end?

Hmmmmm good kestion
See my first thought was that Dibble dies which would certainly be *A* way to end the series but that's some shit I'd pull if I'm feeling evil, Hanna n Barbera would never do that.
See when approaching this question you gotta think; is it gunna be an angsty ending or a fluffy ending?
Likely fluff since again, HB.
I'd like to imagine the finale would be a two parter and involve something that really makes the gang's love for each other shine, rather than something like Top Cat's Biggest Scam Ever And Now They're Set For Life type thing. Frankly if the show ended with them leaving the alley some way I think that'd be very dissatisfying since the show's been very adamant about the fact that they're all very content with being alley cats.
I've thought of 3 possible episodes for a finale and will spit them out here:
Christmas episode: We finally get that fuckass Christmas episode that was basically teased in T.C. falls in love (y'know Fancy's line that goes 'And how he used to love Christmas. It was always, well, special with him.') T.C. n the gang have had a particularly hard year due to the weather and an increasingly cat-hating political climate and T.C. fears that the gang's starting to lose faith in him since it's been weeks since their last real meal. In fear of losing the gang and to cheer them up he decides he's gunna make sure they have the best Christmas ever. The first part of this Christmas finale special would show their struggles and how hostile everyone's suddenly become to cats, and then T.C. planning out their Best Christmas, with the first part ending with T.C. asking a favor from a crime boss who's daughter he had saved a while ago (a la Zootopia) and then the second part picks up with T.C. getting everything prepared on Christmas Eve with Dibble's help. The episode continues into Christmas Day where the gang wakes up to see the alley absolutely decked to the halls with a giant Christmas tree and a huge pile of presents underneath it with a freshly prepared breakfast for them. They enjoy some other Christmas festivities before it's finally time to start opening all the presents T.C. got for them. They start off with Brain, who asks T.C. how he managed to pull all of this while he tries to guess what present is in the box. T.C. explains that he just called out a small loan as a favor from aforementioned crime boss and then freezes as he remembers the one small detail that T.C. forgot about. He only had that loan for Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day, and was supposed to have all the money back by 12 PM on Christmas, not midnight like he thought. Some goons bust into the alley and start tearing down all the decorations and taking away all the festivities. One of them even rips Brain's present right out of his paws. T.C. begs and pleads the boss to extend the loan but everything is final. The goons leave the alley with nothing festive remaining. Everyone's quiet as they hear the extremely rare sound of T.C. sniffling at the end of the alley. This would be the first time any of them had really seen him cry like this. He notices that they noticed, and he pretends to act as cool as he always does, but eventually scuttles away. The gang finds him later hiding in a corner trying not to let his emotions get the better of him. Benny taps his shoulder, and T.C. sees him holding one shoddily-wrapped present. He explains that the gang only managed to scrape together enough money to buy one present, and figured that T.C. should get to have it. Although slightly surprised, T.C. takes the present and opens it. He pulls out a luxurious, fluffy blanket. 'Y'know cuz like, uh, yours don't keep you warm anymore.' Spook explains. T.C. smiles and purrs quietly as he rubs his face on the soft blanket. He opens his mouth to explain his grievances. 'I just... I just wanted to-' 'We know, T.C. Don't worry about it.' Chooch says. 'I... Heh. It's a silly thought but I was scared that you lot were givin' up on me.' T.C. admits. 'Duhhhh, we'd never give up on you, T.C.! You're, uhh, you're our Top Cat!' 'And like, uh, we don't need none of those, like, sellout decorations or, uh, wild presents, dad.' 'Yeah, Christmas is special because of you, not some high-end way of living.' Fancy purrs. T.C., with a quivering smile, wipes away some tears. 'You idiots, you're all gunna make me cry.' The episode (and series) ends with them heading back to the alley and huddling all together underneath T.C.'s new blanket. Dibble leaves a big Christmas ham for them as they sleep on his way home.
T.C. gets kidnapped because he tried to scam the wrong person and the gang + Dibble has to save him without his leadership guiding them. I don't have nearly as many specifics for this one as I did the Christmas one but this could be neat. This could also work with a plot similar to The Movie where T.C. gets arrested for a crime he never committed and the gang has to prove his innocence.
Dibble's thinking of retiring and the gang, while initially ecstatic, remembers all the other times some other cop was pounding his beat and desperately try to convince him not to
TL:DR based on how much I've written for each of these, probably the Christmas episode I proposed.
#if you've got any ideas I'd love to hear them#feel free to ask me anything else if it takes me a while to get to it assume I'm busy or I forgot and that it's not out of malice 😭#mmmyeah there ya go dawg 🐀#top cat#top cat 1961

So did you ever meet the Gruff Brothers or did your show just played their cartoons?
The Gruff Brothers! I haven’t thought of them for a long time. We only played their cartoon along with Popeye, Mama BoPeep, Belle Bunny and a few other MGM gems. I met some of the girls, outside of the studio. The boys usually kept to themselves. The Gruff Brothers haven’t had a cartoon since the Gruff Gaffer Gallery shorts in the 60s. Those were also the first shorts they talked in. They didn’t do too well. Buried under the sudden rise of Hanna-Barbera Toons. Why watch the Gruff Brothers when Top Cat gave you the same type of mischief.

Poetry Corner
So who could imagine going abroad with the Hair Bear Bunch on a warm summer's day enjoying the experience of diving among bears who can't resist the feeling of being so open and direct about love?
Or joining the road crew of The Banana Splits (or, for that matter, the Cattanooga Cats) for a week out on tour, just for the experience of what it would be like to be a band "roadie" out on the road?
Or getting the VIP treatment in Jellystone Park with Yogi, Cindy and Boo-Boo as guides-- and just hoping Yogi will back off from stealing "tourist-type goodies" as part and parcel of the bargain?
Or "going full Aussie" with Kwicky Koala, even if it's more of a sausage sizzle than "shrimp on the barbie," not to mention some Australian ginger beer and plenty of "quality beach time"?
Yes, we can all imagine ...

Shinbone Alley (1970)

Warnings: Suicide mentions, attempted kitten murder Why did you choose this? I am an absolute goblin for weird 70's relics, this is completely up my alley. What is this thing? Shinbone Alley is an animated musical based on the "Archy and Mehitabel" stories by Don Marquis. This movie in particular has an unusually star studded cast. It stars Carol Channing, Allan Reed (Fred Flintstone himself), and Mel Brooks worked as a writer on this. The story follows a man who commits suicide and gets reincarnated(transformed??) into a cockroach, and it focuses on his relationship with an alley cat named Mehitabel. The film mostly focuses on the ups and downs of their unlikely friendship and his one-sided unrequited love for her. The good! I love Mehitabel! she's a hoe for mean idiots, she lives in a trash can, and despite it all she tries being nothing but positive about it. She likes her life despite it all, and I respect that. I'm really surprised that she's a female protagonist in a movie made in 1970 too. She loathes being a mother, and even tries "undoing" that by letting her kittens sit under a water spout. It's genuinely surprising this got made. The art is great I'm a sucker for Peter Max style abstract art, and the movie has it in any sequence where Archie is whining about something or being a poet. It makes him almost tolerable. The animation itself is a bit Hanna Barbera though, it definitely takes short cuts. The music is just fine. The song Flotsam and Jetsam struck a chord with me personally, if you're an adult without a partner or kids this song is for you. The bad! I hate Archie. His voice actor is great, but his character sucks. Don't get me wrong, he's well written, but I just don't like him. He's a confused mess, and even though he learns his lesson at the end, it doesn't seem like he faces much consequences. Of the three times he can't control Mehitabel- he attempts suicide (a second time), tries starting a bug revolution, and then gets blitzed and hooks up with ladybugs. There's something about sensitive artist types who make everything about themselves and don't mind their own business, it really drives me up the wall. This movie in general though, is a confused mess like Archie. This is clearly drawn and styled in a way meant for kids, but all of the themes are very adult. It's hard to see what could keep a kid engaged here. I respect what they were trying to do, and it makes for a unique viewing experience, but it doesn't really work. There's unrequited love, children out of wedlock, suicide, attempted late term kitten murder, drinking. You can sneak themes and subject manner like this in most kids media, but there's not much here that's *for kids*. Rating: 6/10
I had fun watching it, but I know that doesn't necessarily make it a good movie. Though I appreciate the overall messaging that you can't force someone to change, and they sometimes don't need to change. In the end Archie realizes this, and realizes he liked Mehitabel for who she was the whole time. Again, for a film that came out in 1970 this is a really pleasant surprise. Like a lot of the weird movies I watch, you can view this on youtube if you want to take a look.

The preferred stylee of notebooks within The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera when it comes to things like recording travel-type adventures and experiences ... in particular with the Hair Bear Bunch on their bear mating season road trips as well as during concert trips involving The Banana Splits and the Cattanooga Cats. But you probably have a few others in that parthenon who have uses for such notebooks as well.
You roll up to the Wizard Battle and your opponent takes out his spellbook but it’s just one of these

Top Cat and Gang in the 101 Dalmatian Street Universe
Might as well introduce the entire Top Cat gang in their charming, 101DS-esq art style! We've got the whole gang here: T.C., Benny the Ball, Choo-choo, Spook, Fancy Fancy and Brain.
You may notice that Brain, Spook and Cooch are female in this pic! That's because their designs take heavy inspiration from Jellystone. This is a no brainer to fans who have watched the show on HBO max when you look more closely at their look and designs!
Let's go through each one of our colorful six pack of felines, shall we?
I'm pretty sure very few had wondered what Hanna Barbera's coolest cat would look like in the 101 Dalmatian Street Universe. Well, this is pretty much your answer. Top Cat has been one of my few favorite Hanna-Barbera cartoons growing up, and I though "Hey, why not draw this guy in the 101DS-verse on four legs".
Here he is, in 101 Dalmatian Street's adorable art-style, and I gotta admit, I think he fits right in!
Seems like Fergus has got another friend who's experienced with lying and cheating!
Starting first with Top Cat's gang, it's Benny the Ball!
Seeing as Benny is the youngest of the gang as confirmed in the original show, I kinda picture him as a young, blue kitten with a naive, but energetic personality! Not to mention he has a strange taste in music. (Horrible singing, off-key notes, corny music, that kinda thing. 'V('-')V')
His appearance is pretty much the same from the original show, aside from his 101DS artstyle and character.
Next up, we've got Choo-choo! I wasn't sure where to go with this fluffy pink cat, so I thought "ta heck with it" and went with the Jellystone version of her.
I imagine her as an optimistic-type cat, with a nonsensical personality. She tends to slide in some humorous comments especially during some serious moments, but all-in-all she is a sweet-natured cat full of emotions and cares deeply Top Cat and others, even Dylan, Dolly and other Camden citizens she interacts with.
Now we've got the largest, most intimidating cat of the gang: Spooky!
I basically based her personality off of Jellystone and also Big the Cat from the Sonic series. She's basically mute and also a dopey, kibbles-for-brain feline.
Her design is mostly based off of Roxy, with her towering stature and her face. In the 101DS Universe, Spooky is known to make smaller canines nervous and uncomfortable due to her disturbing cross-eyed expression, and her bulking figure, similar to the way Roxy would.
Unlike Roxy though, Spooky always appears oblivious to how others are afraid to even take a step toward her.
Moving along, we got our fabulous, girl-cat-go-getter Fancy Fancy!
Fancy is almost pretty much the same in the 101DS universe: laid-back, kindhearted and undoubtedly handsome, and falls head-over-tail with every female cat he meets. But he also tends to play cool-headed like Hansel.
Fancy-fancy also has utmost desire for poetry like Hansel does. These two tend to get along together, despite Fancy being a member of con-artist's run by T.C.
For Fancy's design, I actually took design inspiration from his earlier character concept art from the original show, where he had stripes to look more like a Tabby Manx. That is of course, until Hanna-Barbera decided to ditch the stripes for Fancy's final design. I'm guess perhaps the stripes would be too hard to animate under a limited budget... I have no idea! :P
Last but not least, we've got our gothic little orange kitten: The Brain!
For the 101DS-Universe, I simply based Brain's appearance and personality off of her Jellystone counterpart in favor over the clueless and dimwitted personality the original Brain had the original show.
I wanted to give Brain a more creative and expressive nature, hence why I threw in different colors of paint on her paws and tail.
With Brain expressing herself through art, I can easily picture her and Da Vinci getting along together, even when she's one of Top Cat's alley gang members, swindling and conning the Camden citizens of their money.

Dysfunctionally Indiscriminate Competition: Kinda Stupid
by BFDI_Rocky, DollarStoreFanfix, MaverickNerd, Necrostar03
What do you get when you put eight writers together in a small, dark room and force them to write a Contestant Elimination show at gunpoint? Not this, that's for sure!
In this new competition, the minds behind CDCAT, TWSGS, YAIDCOA, SAG, ICTSA, SEXMAS (unreleased), and others have combined their collective sixteen brain cells to produce the most cracked-up show! Watch as at least six hosts manage the same show, and as 25 characters from all across the multiverse battle it out for wishes, computers, and other cool shit!
You decide who wins and who loses! Who will triumph, and who will stumble? What challenges lie in store? Will this show fall apart, or stay together? Are there any baddies lurking around? Is this even canon?!?
Find out the answers to all of these questions (except the last one) and more on Dysfunctionally Indiscriminate Competition: Kinda Stupid!

This post made me want to let out my own input on this show and it isn't too hot.
Do you want to know why I hate Jellystone now and essentially disowned it? There are multiple reasons why and no, gender swapping has nothing to do with it. I’m okay with that. The original Adventure Time episodes with Fionna and Cake also nailed the genderswap.
Disclaimer: Don’t take what I say seriously, you’re entitled to your own opinion and I won’t look at you as less or worse of a person if you do like this show. Comedy and art is subjective and not everyone agrees on one thing. The art style also has nothing to do with my hate for this show.
The characters
First and foremost, the characters broke the show for me. This show is based on multiple Hanna-Barbera cartoons and I went into this with the perspective of it being a faithful adaptation and the people making this show said this would be a loveletter to the originals. BUT when you watch the original cartoons then this show, the difference between the two is night and day.
When you watch enough cartoons, you start to expect things a certain way.
Yogi Bear in this show is nothing like the original, he’s a dumbass who’s a doctor and is basically Homer Simpson in bear form. Cindy isn’t in love with Yogi in the episodes I’ve seen of Jellystone. But what really breaks her for me is the fact that her bad decisions were the catalyst for some episodes. She gets away with what she does and doesn’t take responsibility for her actions. I’m surprised she never had her medical license revoked and that Yogi and Boo Boo are still okay with her.
Mildew has been turned from a Wile E Coyote/Ralph Wolf-type character into basically a punching bag. Even if he did nothing to deserve it. He’s such an abused character, he could rival Meg Griffin or Squidward. If they would’ve kept him trying to eat Lambsy like in the originals, him getting beat up would be a bit more understandable. Making him gay is the one good thing to come out of him.
Some characters don’t have their original personalities from their original shows and feel only related to the originals by name only. I can deal with changing ethnicity and/or gender. But if you can’t even get the personality or character right, you lost me. I was shocked that Jabberjaw was based on Curly from the Three Stooges and Jabberjaw in Jellystone is a completely different person. (I’m a Three Stooges fan.) Brain from Top Cat is basically the opposite of the original. Spook is pretty much unrecognizable.
My biggest grip I have for this show is The Banana Splits and The Cattanooga Cats. Because they were just done dirty! They turned the Banana Splits into criminals in this show and this is after the infamous Banana Splits Movie where they made them into killer animatronics. If this doesn’t indicate a fall from grace, IDK what does. The Cattanooga Cats also got the killer animatronic treatment. They’re so far off from what their original purpose in their respective shows were, it’s just sad and scary how far HB cartoons fell off.
There are some characters I like in this show. Huck (To be fair, his original show plops him into different settings and time periods with different jobs. So him being a mayor of the town isn’t too far off. Though his show kinda gave him a lot of wiggle room to be whatever.), Wally Gator, Peter Potamus (I’m not a fan of changing a character to be something they’re not but Greenblatt somehow made Peter being a weeabo work. He’s one great thing to come out of the show. Though since Peter Potamus was a lawyer in Harvey Birdman and it worked, I can only say so much.), Snagglepuss, Top Cat, Benny, Captain Caveman, El Kabong (The one good character in the second Banana Splits episode!), and Augie. (See? I told you gender swapping isn’t the problem.) If even they can’t save the show as a whole for me, you know it’s abysmal! We follow different characters each episode. It’s like WB didn’t want to make a show with them for them (the originals).
Yogi’s Gang, Treasure Hunt, and Laff-a-Lympics are Hanna-Barbera crossover shows done right. They play with the characters being together and they feel right at home with the originals. Also that Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. episode with all the mystery teams of Hanna-Barbera together also handles HB’s legacy a lot better than this show IMO.
The Writing
Were the original HB cartoons good or fun to watch? Yes. Did they age well? That’s debatable. Do they have the best animation? Not really, but they make do with what they have. A good show can have bad animation but a good story. If they can’t even nail the writing, the entire thing falls flat. Just because something isn’t animated like a Disney film doesn’t mean it’s bad. Art is subjective and anyone can make any style work. The personalities of the characters helped with the writing to make the originals work.
One problem I have with the writing is that it’s too far off for the tone I’m used to for HB cartoons. It would feel more at home on Spongebob or Chowder. Some writing is not meant for some shows. At some point in the episodes I watch, they seem to pull the rug out from under me and it starts to feel like they’re cheating or pulling stuff out of thin air. I.e. The music store ran out of guitars, them not recording Yogi’s movie, the Bagel Monster being real. The show goes off the rails harder than a modern MCU movie.
I see this show as a Simpsons/Spongebob clone. But not in a good way.
I feel like the show tries too hard to be like The Simpsons and let’s face it, there’s no beating the original seasons of The Simpsons. This feels more like modern Simpsons than the original seasons.
The episodes range from mildly entertaining to very stupid, dumb, and bad. This isn’t just a bad Hanna-Barbera show for me, it’s a bad show in general.
The Banana Splits piss me off so bad! Because they redeem themselves with Shag and the kids and are on okay terms with them. They had the opportunity to turn themselves around for the better. But no! They go back to being douchebags in the next episode! I don’t hate The Banana Splits but I only hate the Banana Splits in THIS show in particular. Say what you want about the Animatronic Splits, at least they’re more faithful to the originals when not in kill mode. THIS SHOW makes THAT MOVIE seem not as bad to me!
They set the bar so low, they can only go up. Ouch! This show might leave marks that’ll take some time if at all to recover.
This show very loosely resembles an HB cartoon. The characters are so far off, they might as well be different people.
It doesn’t feel like a loveletter to the originals and I feel like this show was only made for easy money. (Nothing to do with the creator, yet)
I doubt fanfiction writers can do a worse job than this.
My want for an adaptation of something I like is for it to be faithful to the source material, but do enough of its own thing to stand out and justify being made.
Worse comes to worse and it’s not a very faithful adaptation, it should at least be good in its own right. Like Disney and The Boys, authenticity to the source material doesn’t always make or break the show or movie. I’ve seen MGM’s Wizard of Oz film and read the original book. I think both are great and the book doesn’t affect my ability to like or watch the film. It’s possible to not be a faithful adaptation and be considered “good” or even “perfect.” Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is also a great example.
The creator
Now this is NOT an attack on the person involved and I DON’T hate him! But I’m gonna speak negatively about him despite the fact that he’s good in his own right.
C.H. Greenblatt is the man responsible for creating Jellystone. He also created Chowder for Cartoon Network and Harvey Beaks for Nickelodeon. He was even a writer and artist for Spongebob during the best years of the show’s life. (I.e. Band Geeks)
I look at him in a positive light, but I don’t like his approach to these characters. He’s working with literal legacies and the way he goes about doing them, he fumbled hard with them the way I see it. For a bit I was thinking, “If this was made by the people who did Chowder, it stands to reason it’d be good.”
To be fair, when you work in the industry and make good stuff for long enough, you’re bound to have at least one bad thing in your resume. (I.e. George Lucas had Strange Magic, Spongebob had The Sandy Cheeks Movie, and Disney had Home on the Range.)
His style of humor just doesn’t fit.
I think people who know better about HB cartoons should’ve been involved to make this show more accurate to the originals. I feel like Greenblatt and the Jellystone team were given too much creative freedom to do whatever.
This has nothing to do with the show itself, it’s a theory on why I think the show came out the way it did. Warner Bros. felt sorry for Greenblatt after Harvey Beaks was screwed over by Nickelodeon. They decided to make it up to him by giving him a pass to make whatever show he wanted. Given how the show turned out and the fact that he publicly revealed he was screwed over, I feel like this show was handed to him.
He DID say this show wasn’t meant to replace the originals, so I’ll give him props for that.
I hope you understand why I don’t like this show and how it portrays its characters. This means no more fanart of this version of the characters from HB and that I’m distancing myself from it. I have no faith in the Cartoon Network crossover. Because if this show can’t handle HB characters, what’s there to say they can handle Cartoon Network characters? There was also a rumor on Tumblr that this crossover would have every CN show basically killed off, this stirred some paranoia for CN’s future and I was already scared of their position before this crossover. I came to a logical conclusion that if some of them are getting revivals and sequel stuff, that clearly they wouldn’t kill them if they were gonna use them. An artist I check out sometimes, Abigail, saw an early screening of the crossover at the San Diego Comic Con. It must’ve been good, or so I assume as there’s nothing she posted that would lead me to believe that it was bad by her standards. As far as I know, the crossover will be the last Jellystone project for the time being, or so I assume as no news dropped on the show getting renewed for more episodes. They might be waiting for the last batch of episodes to come out and do their thing before they consider renewing it yet again. But if I had to decide, I want the crossover to be the last episode.
I don’t hate HB cartoons, I only hate this show in particular for how it represents these characters.
Do I hate this show? Yes. Do I think it’s the worst adaptation or animated show of all time? No, there’s worse stuff out there. I’m looking at you Velma. I don’t hate this show the most but it definitely has a spot on the list of things I hate/don’t like.
