Thought I’d do this the next time I need to cheer myself up, but now all I can think of is weird anecdotes from my life. Maybe because the things that frustrate me today are so absurd. Anyway, remembering this stuff actually does cheer me up.

1. That one time my then-boss ranted about how women are shit at science, only to then ask me why mirrors switch left and right but not up and down.

2. That one time I completely blew a child’s mind by walking by him barefoot. “Th-that’s forbidden!” he said. “No it isn’t” I replied. Fucking owned!

3. That one time a tenured professor said in a seminar that pre-modern societies were lawless and governed by nothing but violence because “I saw it on Vikings”. He was 100% serious and no one even reacted.

4. That one time the family dog was tied to a foldable chair on a camping site, he forgot he was tied to it and started walking, the chair collapsed and rattled, he got scared of the noise and started running, the chair got dragged and RATTLED EVEN LOUDER and he ended up sprinting across the entire camping site, dragging the chair behind him, terrified of the noise that KEPT CHASING HIM, before we caught him. It’s kind of mean to laugh at a terrified dog, but holy shit was it funny.

5. For a while my father kept thinking it was funny to shout “Fire, fire!” multiple times a day. Until that one time when my mom was frying sausages for his stupid breakfast and I shouted “Fire, fire!” for no reason and the pan mysteriously caught fire, my mother instinctively tossed the pan out the window and nearly burned my father who was chilling there, no pun intended. This actually happened, I’m not making it up.

A lot of people think they can take their pets to get vaccinated once and then they're fine, like the idea of it is for human vaccination. I know my own vet wants us to get our cat vaccinated for rabies every year, but don't know if it's completely necessary or why, if it really is. Do you happen to know those details or have any advice about it?

B) What inspired you to create them?

honestly im not totally sure? she just kind of happened. she’s the oldest character from her story, she existed before any of the plot or other characters did, if anything she ended up inspiring the story since i built it around that early version of what i thought a world with her in it would be like. i always liked harpies and human/animal hybrids, and i thought it would be fun to design a bird/human that looked a little different from most interpretations. and hyla just kind of popped out immediately heh.

my emotional perceptivity

desire for a simple life

hair

my memory with numbers

2. Things that you are proud you did:

was valedictorian of my high school class

went to university 1600 miles away from home and survived the homesickness

stuck through 9 years of classical piano training and 3.5 years of music theory and became advanced enough to compete in collegiate level competitions (tho i never won anything)  

learned(and still learning) to be a bit more expressive rather than repressing everything

my art and seeing the improvement

eventually realized that my golden-child of a brother and i will always be different and that i shouldn’t constantly compare myself to his accomplishments

i randomly became a first chair percussionist in an all county ensemble once

was accepted into and transferred to Canada’s #1 ranked research university

3. Things you created/made/built and love:

hmmm i haven’t made a lot of things tbh

again, my art. especially my Azula piece

i made good cookies once

4. Talents of yours:

i can make a rain drop noise by flicking my cheek and i can make hand farts. and i can burp Quite loud.

music i guess? though i wouldn’t say that’s a talent - more like 10+ years of practice

i can play piano, organ, flute, piccolo, sax(es), clarinet, and percussion pretty fluently

i can do a lot of sit-ups without stopping, even if i’m really unfit.

i would like to say i improve relatively quickly with my art?

flash-memorization (works wonders in school)

finding gays. or more like they find me. i don’t know how this happens.

i’ve been told i’m a decent public speaker?

i pick up on math quickly

eating a lot of chocolate in one sitting

5. Qualities of yours:

i love my mom and wish i could return to her even a fraction of the sacrifices she made as an immigrant and single parent, so a lot of what i do is ultimately for her happiness

if you meet me irl you might find me to be rather reserved or aloof, but really this is just me being nervous and awkward. this alleged reservedness is good for preventing drama though lol.

i’m not afraid of strangers. me coming off shy is more a matter of overthinking my own actions rather than a fear of others.

once someone becomes a really close friend of mine, maintaining contact is optional and we can pick up right where we left off

after a while knowing me i lose my filter

at this point i get really honest

and you get to hear my erratic stream of consciousness :P

i end up trying to make things humorous all the time to make people around me laugh but sometimes i do it without thinking causing others to consider it inappropriate oops

i can kinda be a bit of a mom to my friends (making sure they eat a plant other than potato once in a while)

6. Simple domestic thingies of life that make you feel good:

lethargic mornings where i can just float about and listen to the tea kettle roar the day awake

successfully taking an exactly 23 minute nap

throwing a towel in the dryer right before i shower to have a warm towel with which to dry off

making my mom coffee

making breakfast in bed for people

telling guests that my pet(s) (depending on where i’m living) really like them, and telling them it’s unusual. in reality my pets are all really friendly, but that child-like grin that results from it is too precious

relishing the stark difference between my incredibly mellow brother and my obnoxious sense of humor

Was doing some cleaning up with the pictures on my phone and was feeling a bit nostalgic for my very brief experience studying in Colorado.
