JULY FEATURED FOLLOWER POST!

Congratulations to this month's featured follower, @hereliesjade! Jade is a dear friend of mine and this month is her birthday so I felt she deserved to get a special feature. She's always been so supportive of my art and I'm delighted to share her cat Swiftcloud with you all!

Swiftcloud is Jade's old sona from way back, and yes she technically counts as a ClanGen cat cause I coded our sonas into a game, and she's my sona, Hawkstar's, faithful deputy. Brave, smart, reliable, you couldn't ask for a better second paw.

You know, I was half worried Bluestar would need to be corrected on Swiftpaw's new name. Like calling him Swiftcloud or something unfitting. Also, how much longer than usual did Swifttail need to wait to graduate?

Bluestar's not at a good point, we'll say that. Thank god Speckletail's there.

As for Swifttail himself, he didn't have to wait too long! Maybe a week or half a month at best. It wasn't a super long time before he got his name - there was just an emergency evacuation around the same time. It's important to note that naming ceremonies aren't an exact thing; an average apprentice's time range for their ceremony can be up to a month long, if not longer, depending on how well they're doing in training.

Samara Weaving as Princess Rheiē Targaryen

Short Background; Rheiē was the second daughter of parents King Jaehaerys I and Queen Alysanne Targaryen aswell as twin sister of Aemon Targaryen. She is bonded to the dragon Agatedream.

She was the fourth of 14 children; Aegon Targaryen, Daenerys Targaryen, Baelon Targaryen, Alyssa Targaryen I, Maegelle Targaryen I, Vaegon Targaryen I, Daella Targaryen I, Saera Targaryen, Viserra Targaryen I, Gaemon Targaryen I, Valerion Targaryen I, Gael Targaryen.

She had been married for half a year to her cousin Dragomir Targaryen before his sudden death in 76 leaving her with their only son Jacaerys Targaryen who had been born in 75.

Later she had married her twin brother Aemon Targaryen and the two had five children; Maegor Targaryen in 80, Valerion Targaryen in 81, Maegelle Targaryen II, A stillborn son Vaegon Targaryen II in 89 and Viserra Targaryen II in 91.

Short Background; Jacaerys was the only son of Dragomir Targaryen and Rheiē Targaryen. He was bonded to the dragon Rhaegar.

He was the only child of his parents but did have 5 half siblings via his mother Rheiē Targaryen with her second husband Aemon Targaryen; Maegor Targaryen in 80, Valerion Targaryen in 81, Maegelle Targaryen II, A stillborn Vaegon Targaryen II in 89 and Viserra Targaryen II in 91.

in 110 he married his cousin Valaena Targaryen II.

Short Background; Maegor was born the first son of parents Prince Aemon Targaryen and Princess Rheiē Targaryen. He was bonded to the dragon Cleverstriker.

He was the oldest of 5 children the other four being; Valerion Targaryen in 81, Maegelle Targaryen II in 83, A stillborn Vaegon Targaryen II in 89 and Viserra Targaryen II in 91.

He had a half sister named Rhaenys Targaryen II via his father and his other wife Jocelyn Targaryen (nee Baratheon) and a half brother named Jacaerys Targaryen via his mother with her first husband Dragomir Targaryen.

Story: 

Hollkit was a farmcat before she was accepted into the Clan, and grew up an orphan.   

One day, she made a mess in the medicine den and was scolded. The warnings not to do it again didn’t affect her, only causing her to realize that she could cause mischief to gain her Clan’s attention.   

Hollykit soaked the elders’ moss balls in tree sap, placed glass shards in the warriors’ nests, and stuffed yarrow in the deputy’s prey, causing him to throw up all night.   

Her Clanmates scowled at her, and she wasn’t trusted around prey, kits, or herbs. Hollykit thought this was hilarious, and relished in the attention cats would give her.   

Because of her pranks, she was held back from her apprentice ceremony.   Bitter, she snuck out of camp and she saw an injured adder sunning by the border. She was able to pounce on the snake, holding it by the neck.   

She put the adder in a queen’s nest and hid in the den next to it. When Swiftcloud trotted into the nursery, Hollykit instantly heard the queen yell for help. 

She dashed into the nursery, laughing. “I got you!” She had laughed, before she skidded to a stop when she saw the snake with the newborn Willowkit halfway down its throat, and she gasped.   

An elder grabbed her by the scruff, and she was thrown into the camp as cats gathered around the nursery to see what was happening. Rabbitfoot, the elder, stepped in front of Swiftcloud and her two remaining kits. He circled the adder, and the snake swallowed and hissed at the tom, drawing back to strike.  

Rabbitfoot had jumped on the snake, wrestling him into the corner of the small den. Hollykit crouched, watching as two warriors quickly grabbed the remaining kits. Swiftcloud dashed out after, and the medicine cat quickly checked them all over for bites.   

Rabbitfoot killed the snake, and she watched as a warrior rushed to support him as he collapsed, a swollen purple bitemark on his foreleg. Hollykit was pushed out of the way by the medicine cat, and the elder was moved from the nursery into the medicine bush as the deputy made sure the adder was fully dead.   

She stood in shock, and retreated into the corner of camp. Later that night, the leader called a meeting and announced Rabbitfoot’s death. Hollykit was called forward, and Sagestar shook her head as she looked down at the kit.   

“Hollykit, you will remain a kit for all remaining moons until you can stop these cruel behaviours. If you choose to continue, you will be exiled.“ Her jaw had dropped open and she had hissed. “You can’t do that! It was just a prank!”  

“And your ‘pranks’ have resulted in both a kit and an elder’s death,” Sagestar said, tail flicking in anger.   

Hollykit had looked around at her Clanmates, all glaring daggers at her. A warrior leaned forward to bite her tail, and she jumped. She ran out of camp, not caring where she ended up. They couldn’t do this! She hadn’t done anything wrong, it was a prank!   

She found herself at the border of Sunclan territory, and slipped in the sand as she entered to go sit on the rocks. Sunclan cats were lazy anyways, no one would bother her. Hollykit leapt onto the warm rocks, and after a few moments, felt a sharp sting in her back leg. 

She kicked instinctively, and saw a large adder land in the sand, slithering back into a hole. Her heart thudded in her ears, and she stumbled as she stared at the two swollen marks. She couldn’t die like this! Not here! She wasn’t ready!

Hollykit turned to step off the rock, trying to get back to camp, but tripped in the sand, her head slamming against the stones. Water lapped at her ears, and she whimpered. Too weak to move, she was found by a Sunclan patrol later that day.

16. aside from your current leader and deputy, which of your clanmates do you think is best fit to lead the clan? as a deputy, i thought about my leadership a lot and i think that if i hadn’t chosen darkflight as my deputy, i might have chosen thorngaze. he has the wisdom and certainly has the experience, but i don’t know if he would be the best at connecting with his clanmates. i might also consider blossomtail. she was my mentor and a natural born leader, but i think at this point she might be a little too old to be deputy. 

17. what do your clanmates think of you? i hope they like me! it’d be pretty awkward if they didn’t seeing as i’m their leader. i know some of my clanmates are still distant with me, like swansong, my mom, but i hope they don’t think i’m unfit to be leader.

18. which of your abilities are you most confident in? i’d have to say my speed. it’s how i got my name, and i think that other than darkflight, i might be the fastest cat in the clan. i’m not a great hunter, but i do know how to use my speed when i fight, which i think gives me a different kind of advantage on enemies. most earthclan cats are pretty big, so as a smaller cat it helps me teach everyone new battle skills.

brightheart and cloudtail obviously having their canon relationship where he just adores his strong cool beautiful wife. swiftscar and cloudtail being very similar as sorta angry kids who made dumb decisions but have grown. brightheart being swiftscar’s support like cloudtail is for her bc she Understands all the guilt and trauma he has. and both of them being there to reassure cloudtail who didn’t fight the dogs but between those two and brindleface had to face a Lot of people he loved nearly getting killed by them. he probably has nightmares of them actually being dead. honestly they probably all do but him worst

imagine swiftscar mellowing out after the dog fight, growing up and turning his ambition into protectiveness bc he has SO MUCH guilt for dragging brightheart into danger

and the whole clan respecting/siding with them against bluestar like they DESERVED

and at the end of the day them just being close and so so so happy they get to have each other after EVERYTHING they’ve been through together. pls. i love them

Honor Name AU

This is the fleshed out version of the "Cats are named based on cats they adored or their achievements" I had in my AUs part two post.

Basics

In this AU cats name themselves based on the above. More broadly it can be anything in their life, but it's mainly those two, and more often cats who were close to them. So, at warrior ceremonies they get to choose their suffix. They'll only change their prefix if the name doesn't make sense (like, Robinrunning would sound odd), and will probably keep their old prefix as the suffix.

If a cat dies young, they will be renamed out of sorrow and respect for their death. Since they can't choose their name, the suffix will most often be what they died to (badger, claw, cough, etc). Don't want to name them after someone they hate by accident. If not that, it's a very obvious achievement, though dying young they probably don't have one

These chosen suffixes/prefixes are called honor words

Some cats might use cats they absolutely hate for their honor word, in a sort of spiteful or reminding way. Like, "I'ma make this part of my name to make sure I don't fuck up."

This could totally get confusing or repetitive and that's kinda rad

Normal, after the apprentice says "I do"

"Then by the power of StarClan I give you your warrior name. (Apprentice) has chosen (new name), with (honor word) for (reason). StarClan honors your (virtues) and we welcome you as a full warrior of (clan)"

Young cat has died

"This (kit/apprentice) has gone through trial that took their life to soon. In honor of them, I give them the name of (new name) with (honor word) for (reason). We honor (new name)'s (vitures) and we welcome them as a warrior in StarClan."
