AI Is Everywhere—But Are We Really Talking About It?
A Moment That Made Me Pause Not long ago, I led an Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop with a group of executives. As expected, some had technical questions about AI’s practical applications in business. But what surprised me were the personal angles—leaders wondering how AI might change education for their kids, whether it would impact job security for their teams, or even how it might shift…

recently i've been making an effort to go through and play a lot of the games that have been languishing in my steam library (for many years, at this point...) here are my brief thoughts on a few so far:
gone home - this was constantly recommended on my old post about haunted house games. i actually bought this back around when it was first published, 2015/2016. and i think if i had played it at that time, it would have really hit for me. i've discussed birdland here previously and 2015 is around the time i played that game, too (probably my first exposure to interactive text games) and it had a profound impact on me as a younger lesbian who hadn't quite come to terms with my identity yet. all that to say, i recommend this if you're looking for a short, atmospheric experience (i played with headphones and definitely got creeped out a few times) but prepare for a bit of a dated narrative. some of the art was done by E.M. Carroll, a name you might recognize from their viral comics.
TACOMA - this game came out back in 2017, and it's another walking sim similar to gone home and from the same developers, though it has a bit more interaction, namely a mechanic where you "reconstruct" scenes and play through them to extract data. but this one definitely felt dated. not entirely, to be fair, some parts did still feel evergreen, specifically around the discussion of AI and human labor rights... but TACOMA chooses to focus more on "AI rights" in the end, which feels a little silly in this day and age, and in general it's a sci-fi game, so it's a bit more fantastical than what we're seeing now in real time. also there was a magazine i found that had an article referring to "president musk of south africa" which induced a full body cringe from me. E.M. Carroll appears here again and is credited with the character concepts, i really enjoyed their designs of the crew & the crew themselves as we slowly learned more about them and their relationships while moving through the station. it's a little longer than gone home but still pretty short, and i did enjoy it, so i recommend it if you can get over the dated AI depiction. i really liked the reconstruction mechanic, and following the "ghosts" around the station. (if you can't tell, i enjoy games where i get to be nosy and go through people's stuff)
Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk - so i made the mistake of playing this without realizing it was the sequel rather than the first... i don't think it impacted too much but i would probably recommend to play it in order, so play Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk first (unfortunately i don't have this one myself). i find this game kinda hard to review, but i really liked the way the player served as the mc's internal voice, and how the game & its mechanics are utilized and contextualized within the narrative as a way for us, "The Voice," to make choices for her, if that makes sense (there's some fourth wall breaking too, which is always fun; she refers to herself as a VN character at one point). i liked all of this, the art and the writing & the animations, though all in all i'm not quite sure how much of it i fully understood, and this could also be because i played it out of order (or it could just be abstract on purpose). i did also only playthrough once, but i believe there are a lot of possible variations, and it takes a lot of trial and error to see everything. i tried my best to be kind to her and help her out :( however i did like how there wasn't always a "nice" option, just like a real internal voice would work; you aren't always kind to yourself even when you should be...
the next few i hope to get through are Mundaun, Saint Maker, and Sub-Verge :3
#the amount of unread VNs i have in my steam library is Criminal. tbh. and dont even look at my itch.io library LOL#also i have to admit the end of tacoma did kinda have me making a face but it's not their fault. they didn't know. lmao#i think it's hard to look at some AI centered narratives w/o being overly critical in general now so theyre not unique in that regard#and i did still find the commentary on the human labor rights to be compelling at least. funny to have musk mentioned even in just#a little throwaway line considering the themes of the game lol. i mean it makes sense even in 2017 but it's more ironic now#but i would love another game like that tbh. maybe something that leans more into the horror of exploring an abandoned space station#[avoids making eye contact with my IF wip that is literally exactly that with an AI and everything]#look sometimes i want to Play it. not write it... but i'll still write it eventually. probably#anyways. all of these are pretty short w/ the last one being the shortest#if you like walking sims you'll definitely like the first two. tho i feel like everyone has already played gone home but me lmao#if anyone has similar walking sim recommendations..... 👀#i do want to get to edith finch also im just waiting for it to go on sale lmaoooo#also i always recommend birdland if you've never played it. very fun game#games

this is more of a thought project than an actual question, but what do you think it would've been like had aqua's decision to reveal the identity of his past life to ruby backfired upon him? i'm not sure if the possibility would've even existed in the first place given how much sarina idolizes (haha. idolize.) goro, but i like to think about it sometimes because ruby has known the man as "aquamarine hoshino" (guy who is unfailingly stubborn and even frustrating at times) longer than she's known him as "goro amamiya" (a mostly well-adjusted guy from her perspective) and also because ruby has always been my favorite of the hoshino twins and i'm trying to cope with her characterization as of late. sobs
NGL, I do kind of think that Aqua's decision here has already been backfiring even if it doesn't seem quite as apparent on the surface. As Kana points out, while Ruby is acting fine and happy now, her leaning on Gorou-through-Aqua hasn't really addressed the core issues that are impacting her mental health. That relationship is kind of her single point of failure right now and the moment it's taken away from her, she's going to collapse.
This is why Tsukuyomi described Aqua revealing himself to Ruby as a 'bad move'. Sure, it got her back on her feet and ensured the movie would get made with her in the lead role but it has also made her incredibly reliant on the supposed promise that Gorou would marry her when she turned 16 (which, uh, isn't even what he said…!) and his presence in general. But Aqua's plan has been all but textually stated at this point to end in his death which, as I'm sure you can imagine, would be probably not great for Ruby's mental health to begin with but especially now she knows he's Gorou…!!!
That said, it is interesting to roll around a scenario where Aqua drops that reveal and Ruby rejects him… either out of not believing him or because his behavior as Aqua has shattered the pedestal she had Gorou up on. The idea of a version of the Movie Arc where Ruby is still in black hoshigan mode, playing a version of Ai who comes across as flawed, bitter and unsympathetic as a result of Ruby's own inability to be vulnerable… ouughh now we're fucking cooking….
That could be a really fascinating parallel to how Ai was rejected by everyone who saw her as she really was under her idol persona and you could have a lot of fun tying Ruby's gradual understanding of and empathy with Ai and her growing anger with regards to her exploitation to her realization that her all-or-nothing view of Gorou is similarly dehumanizing. Holy shit, now I'm imagining a version of the Movie Arc where Ruby keeps her black hoshigans all the way up to 134 and it's that moment of connection with Ai as a human being that finally breaks her out of it.

Like, holy shit. This is already an incredibly powerful and moving series of pages, but can you imagine just how much harder they would've hit if this had been when Ruby's white hoshigan had blazed back to life? WE COULD'VE HAD IT ALL.........
#oshi no ko#oshi no posting#onk asks#onk spoilers#imaginin g a version of the movie arc that properly centers ai and ties everything back to that mission statement#of understanding her and humanizing her#honestly makes me feel so fucking rabid. akasaka please.

Just watched this Anime called Ai No Kusabi the other day (2 OVAs, kind of old) and it was surprisingly good yaoi!

#like many love stories very self-centered delusional motives#but that is what makes for a good drama I guess#But the futuristic setting is pretty impressive#I enjoyed the characters too even if their motivations are so delusional#not healthy love in any way but an interesting study in human desires and delusions#I recommend#ai no kusabi#間の楔

How would kid react to being compared to keith? I assume not well, but i think its interesting bc to me it does seem like shes at least in some ways similiar to him, personality wise... Like shes a stubborn and scrappy reckless child who is also very very angry. And that's kinda who keith was when he was younger (dunno how hes doing rn)! Its like. She hates him she despises him and shed propably rather die than be like him but also she is. She is a little bit like him. Shes determined and capable and stubborn and reckless and i wonder if lance or kuron ever jokingly said she reminds them of him <- bet shes not too happy about that. How does she see herself in relation to him? How does she feel about the parts of her that are on some level similiar to him? Does she try to stomp down those traits ore does she keeps them in spite of it all, a 'fighting fire with fire' kind of situation? Keith has always been a stubborn fuck and its ironic that the same trait is what lead kid to seek him out to kick his ass... Idk if this makes sense but. yeah.
Also this image is very kid coded<3

image id- a screenshot of a tiktok saying "Stop blaming everyone for all your problems. Pick one person you hate and blame them for everything"
Pretty much yeah. Thing is Kid has never met Keith and Ara never really liked to talking about him beyond answering questions like who he is and what does he do. So in Kid's mind Keith is a let's just is a bit........different person than he actually is (she thinks he is a selfish arrogant asshole jerk who only cares about himself and clearly ripping off of the other paladins's hardwork while he fucks around and then steal the credit)
So to her she's nothing like Keith at all, cause in her head Keith's the biggest asshole in the universe, and she's like what normal? Everything she's doing is 'justified' so like whatever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Kid is a smart kid with many skills but self introspection is not one of them). And this attitude is most likely going to carry on even when she meets Keith. To her Keith abandoned her and Ara without a word because he was selfish, while she left without a word to help Ara and not worry them. (Cause just like how Keith yelled at Pidge for trying to leave only to fuck off when the team really needed him, the hypocrisy is also inherited).
So to answer your question, she will fucking hate it but more because to her it's just plain wrong and these people clearly don't know her, because she's nothing like that asshole how dare you 🤬🤬😡😡?
(Lance brought it up once and she bit him so he never brought it up again cause it clearly upsets her and Definitely Not because he doesn't want to get bit again haha Definitely Not Jesus Christ what are her teeth made of?? but like he and Kuron and even Ara all Know™, it's very clear to them where certain habits and mannerisms of her are coming from)
That being said once she grows up a bit more and realizes that oh shit she was a lot like Keith, then it's a critical hit psychic damage. It's just full on Shinji pose for days, she will not survive that Realization™ it will actually kill her on the inside, even if this hit at the age where she has mostly calmed down
#And yup that picture is her#I do think there are slight differences. Like Kid is lot more social than Keith and open about her problems too#Much more willing to do and is better at teamwork but also much quicker to anger and self centered#And she doesn't really care about her 1/4th galran Or human heritage. It's not even like 'oh she hates herself for it'#more like she just doesn't care. It's not important to her#Anyway thanks for asking!!!!!#empty answers#c&ai au

people trying to be like 'lol now it's affecting rich people' like. ok. I've never been to Los Angeles in my life either, but I'm really not sure how you got to 'able to make posts online' years old and somehow have never heard of Skid Row.
And anyway that's not really my point. My point, as always, is that disasters don't stop and check people's voter history and economic status before deciding to go ahead and destroy their lives.
There is a deep neo-Calvinist impulse in way too many people to look at human suffering and immediately decide that the people suffering must have deserved it somehow, and if we do not rip every root of that impulse out of our hearts and stay vigilant in case it tries to grow again, we are well and truly done for.
#I need everyone to replace their sneering disregard for their fellow human w/a willingness to fight against climate disasters#aren't you tired of sniping at each other while billionaires laugh and hoard more money? don't you wanna go apeshit on an AI data center#take my hand. take this wooden shoe. I love you and want everything for you. now let's go smash some fucking looms.

If you want to learn to make art, you have to do it 1. yourself and 2. badly.
If you want to learn to write, you have to do it 1. yourself and 2. badly.
You have to write that shitty, poorly organized essay where you confuse who and whom the whole way through. You have to make that terribly proportioned drawing. Making bad art is how you learn, experiment, and discover your style.
ChatGPT will only ever create mediocre art and writing that must stay in the realm of mediocrity because it’s not human made. I think that what makes human art so beautiful is mistakes made in earnest; it’s the product of trying really hard and making something that isn’t technically “correct” or even good but something that is proof of learning, effort, and enthusiasm.
