Obelix doesn't get cold in the winter for a number of reasons but Asterix insists he wear a scarf and gloves anyway

Speaking of, Asterix is the village's professional worrywart (thankfully he's chilled out as he's gotten older)

In winters with particularly heavy snow, Asterix will ride on Obelix’s shoulder so he doesn’t get stuck

Cacofonix likes to people-watch from his cottage and has some of the best gossip bc of it 👀

Getafix secretly keeps a store of placebo potions for hypochondriac villagers (it’s mostly tea)

Asterix and Obelix have such bad separation anxiety that if they’re away from each other for too long they make themselves sick bc they’re drama queens lol

Getafix is a true workaholic who hates sleeping and can go up to a week without it, but he’ll then have to crash for an entire day afterwards

Whenever Asterix gets sick Dogmatix will sleep in his bed instead of Obelix’s

I thought Asterix had a rough go of it in The Mansions of The Gods until I sat down and watched the Asterix and Obelix vs Ceaser live action movie from 1999

The whitest Yoshi. His paleness blinds. He is kept in the dark, for if a ray of sunlight so much as kissed his cheek, he would be singed. He has not been allowed to develop any identity or personality of his own. He is truly a blank canvas. So let's go through my favorite costumes available in Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, to see what I would have this little freak wear!

Shy Guy Yoshi is goofy. Most of it is very well done! And then there's the mask on the nose. Simply goofy. There's no other way it could have been done, but it's utterly goofy! At least, that's what it seems like. But this Yoshi tells a story. Those eyeholes on the mask aren't just for show, even though there are no eyes looking through them. This Yoshi has the largest nostrils in town, and this is an accessory that finally lets it showcase those remarkable assets without compromising their use! It may look like a Shy Guy, but it's certainly not shy when it comes to sniffing. It can smell you right now, through the internet!

Burt the Yoshi is one I have used quite a lot while playing! I love Burt, and this is as close as we've gotten to playing as him! The general rule of Yoshi design is that if the source material has a large nose or bill, it's probably going to translate quite well. That holds true here! The only thing is, Yoshi's shape makes this feel a bit more Obelix then Burt. I want to think of Burt, not Obelix! I'm sure he's a funny enough fellow, but I have no attachment whatsoever to Asterix and his pals. Sorry! Just not French at all!

Citrus Yoshi is very cute! Overall rather basic, but you do get the orange cross-section cheeks, and! The little stem nub on top! THAT is what truly makes it so lovable.

Fluffin' Puffin Yoshi is what I replaced poor Burt with right when I got the chance! On a first playthrough it's so fun not knowing what Yoshi you'll restitch in a given stage, but seeing the yarn colors, and being able to guess based on those and the stage itself. I was so hoping there would be Fluffin' Puffin Yoshi, and there was! And it does not remind me of a single French cartoon guy! Just a funniest bird!

Jeepers o'clock, you're in for a shock, just hope Spooky Yoshi does not your door knock! This one is an effective spooky design that does not feature orange at ALL, which is rather impressive. The color choices are very nice, especially the gradients, and I like the bright radioactive ooze green! Most notable, though, are the eyes! This is a rare design to feature custom eyes, which are not actually a possibility in the 3DS version's Yoshi editor. This Yoshi uses illegal LEGO building techniques, and that is why it is in a video game, and not a LEGO set.

THIS, though, Trousers Yoshi, is actually my favorite of all! Not a design based on any funny enemy, but one that just sort of looks like Yoshi is wearing pants. That's funny! Yoshi doesn't do that! How droll!

That ended up all being from the Wii U version, huh? Well, I have more fun designing Yoshis in the 3DS version than I do playing the actual levels. Perhaps I will follow this up shortly with a showcase of Yoshis I've made! And I would love to see if you have any you've made that you're proud of, too!

Moments from Asterix and Obelix: The Big Fight (2025) I never knew I needed:

Respect for Obelix as a craftsman. His "menhir delivery" business is often treated as a running joke in the comics, but it's so refreshing to see him being good at something besides beating up Romans. I love that little sculpture he gives Asterix for his birthday and the way Asterix compliments him for it.

Toy Dogmatix! Little Obelix carved that himself and refused to leave it behind, even when being chased by a terrifying bully. That means that when Obelix grew up, he adopted the same kind of dog he wished for as a child, and even gave it the same name. How sweet is that?

Vitalstatistix and Impedimenta as childhood-friends-turned-power-couple. Nothing says chivalry like throwing your enemies to your wife so she can whack them with a rolled-up shield.

The gentleness in Apothika's voice when she asks: "Do you remember, my Pano?" (Panoramix is Getafix's original name.) Those two clearly have a history together. Whether romantic or platonic, I was thrilled to hear it. Everyone takes Getafix for granted as the wise old druid who brews the potion, but he must have been young once too.

I don't want to spoil the ending. Let's just say they really, really earn the name of "Indomitable Gauls".

I need to watch this series again.

I stumbled upon this on YouTube!

The original story of how Obelix fell in the magic potion, published in the newspaper in 1965. And narrated on the radio by Roger Carel himself ! (I couldn't find the year it's been aired on, but it might be 1965 too)

If you don't speak french I still recommend you to listen to a bit of it !

It has such a calm and relaxing feeling to it with the sound effects and the sweet narration. And it might be nice to practice your french !

Roger Carel has been the voice of Asterix for almost 50 years, he started voicing him on the radio, before the first movie was made. He voiced him for the last time in 2014, he got out of retirement specifically to play his role in Le Domaine des Dieux, before he passed away in 2020.

He is mythical in the french dubbing! Called "the man of a 1 000 voices" or "the pop of dubbing".

His voice is like sweet honey, I absolutely love his work. My favorite performance of his is Hercule Poirot in the old series "Poirot". But Asterix is a close one, and he is the original voice of this character !

Anyways I'm just rambling at this point but I just really love my beautiful first language and the artists we have.

I especially like that Ultimus and Octavius are sitting with Cacofonix in simple clothes, without armor, helmets or weapons. They seem to show trust and respect to him, taking off their uniform so as not to frighten the unarmed bard and to be on the same level with him. It's very cute I think 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I have an idea for hurt/comfort art. I'd like to see it properly in your style. Throughout the comics, you can see that Asterix and Obelix treat Cacofonix better than everyone else. They don't laugh at him, they support him and generally treat him very well. And the Golden Menhir is generally similar to the Cacofonix/Asterix fan fiction.

So, the essence of the idea: Fulliautomatix (maybe he's not alone, but with someone else) mocks, threatens, beats, breaks the lyre, insults, intimidates Cacofonix, and Asterix and Obelix stand up for him. Obelix calms the bard and hugs him, while the bard cries a little, and Asterix confronts/swears with the blacksmith (the roles of Asterix and Obelix can be changed), and then Cacofonix tells Ultimus and Octavius about this. Ultimus will be happy for Cacofonix and grateful for such help, and Octavius will squint suspiciously. Not because he does not believe the bard, but because he doesn't want to recognize the nobility of the Gauls, although even Caesar himself recognized it more than once.

And these moments from the comics pushed me, they're so cute, I just can't ｡⁠:ﾟ⁠(⁠;⁠´⁠∩⁠`⁠;⁠)ﾟ⁠:⁠｡

Ok, guys. I rewatched every single animated Asterix movie, but I'm rewatching LA now. I'm gonna make my tier list after rewatching first 4 movies and watching Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom for the first time. Heard this movie...is really bad so can't wait to see it!

Anyway I rewatched Asterix & Obelix: Take on Caesar and good God...this movie is soooo weird. At first this is my childhood movie. Asterix is a huuuuge thing in my country. We ADORE these movies. I watched Take on Caesar so many times as a kid and I loved it. But...I rewatched it yesterday and...hmmmm.

This movie is soooo weird to me. I got so mamy mixed feeling because I still like this movie but I can see its flaws. It's so chaotic. They took some ideas from comics and put them in one movie but didn't do anything with them? Bruh??? Some subplots are so unnecessary and I was like "....why? Just why?".

The second stuff is that this movie is so....realistic. I mean its tone is so weird cuz its tried to be realistic but with some comedic/cartoony stuff and it doesnt work for me. This looks so weird.

But some jokes are really funny and I love music in this movie. Fantastic.

I'm gonna rewatch this movie in future cuz I still enjoy it. I'm shocked I decided to write something about this movie but like I said: this is my childhood and I was excited to watch it again after all these years.

I'm gonna watch Mission Cleopatra now and this movie is so important to Poland.. you have no idea how much we love this movie :D

now that ive completed all of asterix animated adaptations 🎉 here are my brief thoughts on each one because i know everyone is dying to hear them

Asterix The Gaul (1967)

for a movie entirely about asterix and getafix being silly together, this one is criminally underappreciated

Asterix And Cleopatra (1968)

had some fun songs, caesar and cleopatra are cute, nothing particularly stands out in it but i had fun watching it nevertheless

The 12 Tasks of Asterix (1976)

was looking forward to this one and it did not dissappoint, every task was so much fun to watch, my only complaint is that i wish asterix and obelix didnt get through the beast cave so smoothly bc it was my favourite part of the film and i wish it was used more

Asterix vs Caesar (1985)

this is a weird one to me mainly for how evil all of the roman characters feel compared to other adaptations (along with asterix conquers america), bit of a tonal whiplash. i still enjoyed it but id rank it the lowest out of them all

Asterix in Britain (1986)

british people be like its chewsday innit anD DOGMATIX DRINKS MAGIC POTION THIS IS ALL I CARE ABOUT OK

Asterix and the big fight (1989)

this is my favourite 2D asterix movie, im so serious about it, its an absolute acid trip and i loved every second of it, the original song that had no business going that hard, centurion motus serving absolute cunt and some genuinely sweet moments between asterix and obelix. this is what peak looks like

Asterix Conquers America (1994)

a man dies in this movie and thats the only thing i can think about. and the blunt rotation.

Asterix And The Vikings (2006)

ohhh so much nostalgia for this one. its such a beautifully animated and cozy movie, nobody gets me like justforkix and him and abba are cute. everything abt this one is just so sweet

Asterix: The Mansion of The Gods (2014)

This is probably my favourite asterix film (though close tie between that and secret of the magic potion) its what got me back into asterix after over 10 years of not interracting with it. it puts me in a good mood every time i see it, who would have guessed asterix would work so well in 3D?? shame its probably the movie with the worst english dub so i gotta go extra mile (go to the library across the street) to get the croatian one

Asterix: The Secret of The Magic Potion (2018)

a movie centered around getafix is already guaranteed to be peak, what more is there to say? oh ofcourse! the movie also introduces the coolest villain ever and the gauls and the romans teaming up to defeat him. a lot of movies end with asterix and caesar on (somewhat) positive terms, but this time its the gauls and roman soldiers fighting side by side!! need 50 movies exactly like this on my desk by tomorrow

Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight (2025)

ah ofcourse, the one that truly kicked off the asterix hyperfixation, i dont rank it along the rest because its a show, but i'll include it here anyway. whats there to say that hasnt already been said? the animation is stellar, the story is wonderful, the ANGST!! some great new characters: metadata i love you to bits, potus and apothika too, fastanfurius youre cool, but youll never be motus 💔 i gotta rewatch it again now with the sharper knowledge of asterix lore

now that you read it all with great interest its time to tell me how correct i am (slash joke, but really id love to chat with other asterix fans)

As for a fave album, it's honestly a hard decision because I have so many! But you know, being Spanish, I just have to go with Asterix in Spain as I LOVED reading it over and over again growing up, and it has so many funny moments!! Also, I personally love to see how they represented us Spaniards with our typical customs and all that 🤭 It doesn't matter how many times I reread it, it always makes me laugh like crazy 😂
