The Winter 2025 Bishop Myriel Fundraiser is now open. This year will be dedicated to immigrants, many of whom are languishing in private prisons whose stock just went way, way up.

Our goal this year is at least 25 auction items and over $1000 in funds raised. If you've never participated before, this is your year. DM if you would like to participate but need advice!

Get your fic, art, books, crafts, costumes, and other offers ready. You can submit them according to the rules under the cut, and bidding on each item will start as soon as it is posted. Bidding in REPLIES, NOT REBLOGS, will continue through the end of December 21st, the darkest night of the year.

The recommended places to donate this year are: 1) RAICES Texas, an immigration-focused group which freed more than 2,000 people from immigration detention over the years. They fought to reunify families when children were ripped from their parents' arms during the first Trump administration, and have now pivoted to using funds to provide legal support for the detained, while continuing to pay bonds for those clients.

2) Annunciation House, a shelter serving immigrants. Run by Catholics in Texas who open their doors to the stranger without asking to see their papers, this year they faced down a vicious attempt by the Texas government to shut them down as a "stash house." The attorney general claimed in court that they followed "a more Bohemian set of ‘seven commandments,’ including commandments to ‘visit’ people when ‘incarcerated’ and ‘care (for them) when they’re sick.'” What could be more in the spirit of this fundraiser's namesake, Bishop Myriel? If you are not in the US and/or find it difficult to donate via those pages and/or want to support a particular organization doing good work to assist immigrants that's not listed above, please feel free to select another organization. From groups funding rescue ships in the Mediterranean to those supporting refugees stuck in camps around the world, there is a lot of good work to be done.

this is a zine i started because i wanted to do something with some quotes that have been stuck in my head for years. things people have said to me that i've either written down, kept screenshots of if it was over text, or just fully remembered word for word.

but i didn't have that many, and it felt vulnerable sharing them as they were. i thought why not drown them among other people's similar quotes, everyone probably has at least one thing they were told one day, that they still remember. and so i made an online form to share anonymously. and it received enough contributions to make this little thing :')

What is a "bad idea?"

It's whatever you want it to be! The "[blank] Life, but _" format works really well for series concepts as a whole, but "bad headcanons" are welcome too! Go wild, friends <3

Sure!! Most of the time, I won't even realize it's been said before. This blog has been going for so long now and I have bigger priorities, I won't penalize you for sending in a "repeat" ask :)

(There is also the #additions tag for adding onto specific ideas, although it isn't used very consistently. If you would like your ask to be added to a previous post instead, just ask!)

"What does the queue look like for this blog?"

Currently, it posts 3 times per day, and there's about ~250 posts in the backlog waiting to be posted (as of late January.)

For complicated personal reasons (but mostly me being a busy uni student), that most likely won't be drastically changing anytime soon. I don't get around to stocking this blog very often and I would rather have it be slow and consistent than have random bursts of activity then silence. I know this is frustrating for people, but this is my personal passion project, and I don't want to needlessly stress myself out over something I started for fun :)

Probably still in the askbox! Very rarely do I actually delete asks, I promise I don't cherrypick the ideas I like and discard the rest. But since I know the wait is frustrating, this is my policy to deal with it:

If you've sent in an idea and it hasn't posted yet, you can send me an ask describing your idea and ask to have it moved up in the queue. You can also send in a separate ask when submitting an idea if you want to have it posted sooner rather than later.

(If your idea is connected to recent events in smps, etc it will most likely be moved up anyway so it posts while still "relevant," although this is somewhat limited to my familiarity with the event. It never hurts to ask!)

@nsolyoi wants to know: What did you learn from writing your Yuri on Ice novelisation? 😊

(this question came via reblog, I’ve made a new post because I didn't want to bother the OP of the ask game)

This is an exciting question that doesn’t have a quick answer, I could basically write a thesis about that. So please bear with me!

I don’t think you can write a novelisation without digging really deep into the source material, so there’s a whole number of lessons coming from that. Being a canon fanfic writer, I do that with every piece of media I obsess over, but then every piece of media comes with its own features, themes, and challenges. For my YOI novelisation, my learnings can be divided up into three categories:

YOI smashed open the door to one of my old obsessions that I hadn’t lived out due to the lack of availability: figure skating. It’s a complex sport and there’s just so much to watch out for if you want to portray it realistically. And so, I’ve spent a great deal of time educating myself on elements, scoring, competitions, training, and even figure skating politics (and swooning over all the amazingly talented skaters I discovered along the way and getting mad about unfair scoring, which opened the door to cameos and Easter Eggs). Although I'm very much aware that my knowledge is still far from holding a candle to long-time fans of the sport, it was good enough to draw the attention of my beta who is a figure skater, which must count for something.

Since most of the story is set in Japan, I also launched into intense research of Japanese culture, including dishes, customs, traditions, and feasts like Tanabata because I wanted to know what I was writing about. Worldbuilding is also a great way to enrich your story. Again, this is likely terribly incomplete because you can only learn so much from internet research, but I felt that doing my best to make it authentic was the least I could do to honour the anime and the people behind it. This research deepened my understanding of Yuuri, starting from gestures and the concept of face to his love confession, which sent me into a rabbit hole of Japanese dating culture that shed new light on the development of Viktuuri.

But what really blew my mind was how writing this novelisation deepened my understanding of the anime itself. Through writing, I started noticing details I rarely noticed as a viewer, no matter how often I rewatched the anime. Some things that seemed to make sense from a viewer’s perspective fell apart the moment I connected the dots. Contextualising through writing is a process that happens naturally whenever I take a deep dive into a piece of media. It taught me so many things about the characters—and even about myself, which is something I’m grateful for. Initially, I only wanted to get to know the characters better because I wanted to write a sequel and I'm glad I put so much effort into this endeavour.

There’s probably a whole lot more that I forgot, it was that big of a project, but I’m ending this here. Thank you so much the ask! Answering it was a delight! 💕💕

I've talked about this at length with friends and I think it's worth noting here too. I know there are tons of posts discussing how the 'consumer' mindset is ruining fandom, which I completely agree with. Viewing fanworks as 'content' has fundamentally poisoned how people interact within fandom spaces.

Beyond that, viewing the people who make fanworks as 'content creators' is also having horrific effects on fandom ecosystems. The idea that a fic author is, in any way, the same as an 'Influencer' is rotting people's brains and by proxy, it's rotting fandom as a whole.

I recently heard the term 'Big Name Fan' and it made me want to eat glass. Fandom is NOT, and should not, be viewed as a hierarchy!!!!

No fan is better than another. Your AO3 stats, or follow count, or whatever other metric people obsess over... Do Not Determine Your Worth. I do not think an author with 200 fics and an author with 1 fic should be treated any differently within a fandom.

Fandom, at its foundation, should be about building community. It's about connecting with other people who loved the same media as you.

The minute 'influencer' culture seeped into fandom, it began to separate people via a popularity contest. It created a version of 'celebrity' within the fandom itself and I, for one, hate that.

I miss when fandom was the equivalent of everyone sitting around the playground at recess, trading gif sets and fanart and vids and fic with one another. Didn't matter whether you'd been in the fandom for years or whether you just started watching the show.

Now, there's this added layer of whose fic has the most hits, or whose fanart gets reblogged the most, or who has more followers, or even whose social media post gets liked by a cast member.

Fandom is NOT a competition. I think a lot of people could benefit from realising that.

Told you guys it was coming, didn't I? I apologise that this has taken a bit longer than expected, my mental health hit me like a bullet train, but I do hope it's sufficient.

Let's start off with the basics. ‘Euclid’ is the anglicised version of the Greek name Eukleídes (Εὐκλείδης), mainly known via the ancient Greek mathematician Euclid of Alexandria, who is seen as the ‘father of geometry’, and most famous for his work on symmetry. Its general definition is something or someone who is renowned and or glorious (A) and the lesser known definition is something that is a copy of the same (B) (taken from Euclid’s ideas on symmetry), which we’ll come back to in a bit.

However, there is another Euclid in history that we’ll be referencing; Euclid of Megara. This Euclid, similar to our mathematician, was an ancient Greek Socratic (having been a pupil of Socrates) philosopher. I’ll be taking part of a text out of his Wikipedia article since his ideas have been explained thoroughly there.

First off, this is an incredibly interesting choice of name for a song. Outside of someone's maths and philosophy class, this name doesn't exist to most, so the fact it's been chosen at all is intriguing.

Vessel has shown time and time again he enjoys sometimes elaborate references in his art, an example being chemistry and biology in TPWBYT (most notable would probably be ‘Telomeres’), so, I think it would be easy to say that, whether it be a reference to Euclid the Mathematician or Euclid the philosopher, that said reference is understood and intended by Vessel.

So, let's start with our mathematician, shall we?

What I find interesting about Euclid of Alexandria is that his life and existence outside of his work on geometry is almost completely unknown. There's almost nothing known of him, as a person, other than where he spent half of his career (Alexandria; Egypt, hence his title), where he may have studied (Platonic academy) and a general idea of when he lived (around 300BC). What is known about this insanely famous man who created the foundations of symmetry is incredibly barebones. People take Euclid at face value for his work, just like Vessel (both as an artist, and a character).

Further, we, as listeners, don't have much of an understanding of who Vessel is other than being a mouthpiece of a deity known as Sleep, someone once human now grasping at the threads of humanity and someone sharing some of his struggles in life (both with Sleep and unknown people). Like Euclid, he is barebones, we take him at face value; a vessel. He is both a mouthpiece for Sleep, a mouthpiece for his own emotions (obviously) and a mouthpiece for us. His experiences transcend being just his, due to his anonymity, therefore allowing us to connect and express our own experiences. It's music for the sake of music; expression.

Now, having talked through Euclid as a person, it's time to talk about Euclid and his symmetry. Symmetry in shapes is 'reflections, rotations, translations, and combinations of these basic operations. Under an isometric transformation, a geometric object is said to be symmetric if, after transformation, the object is indistinguishable from the object before the transformation- a copy of the same’. So, of course, this means shapes like squares, rectangles, parallelograms and circles. Circles are a representation of infinity, wholeness, unity and loops. What does Euclid do? Loop itself (starts and ends with B major, which also happens to be the same chord that TNDNBTG starts with), and loops the three albums together, musically and lyrically.

Now, onto Euclid of Megara.

Euclid was born in Megara, Athens and was a follower of Socrates (sneaking into Athens to hear him speak, and he was also present during his death). He is most known for his philosophy that good is the knowledge of simply being and that the opposite of good does not exist, aka evil. The Good is described to be a perfect, eternal, and changeless Form, existing outside space and time. A form of Heaven without a God.

This idea could be linked lore-wise with Sleep Token; Sleep could, in a way, be The Good literally. Bliss. Further, with the idea that there is no actual opposite of good, then how can anything be bad? How can Sleep, as a deity, have bad intentions if there is no actual evil?

So far, with these two notable figures in mind, we can perceive Euclid as one of two ways (and there are more ways to come). Euclid can be seen as quite literally being a form of symmetry; a parallel that Vessel lays his life on because it brings all of the produced albums, all of his stories, together. Or, we can think of Euclid as Vessel. This brings me to @euclidsvessel's post on their theory on Euclid; what if Euclid was Vessel’s name before he became a vessel?

The theory that Euclid could be Vessel’s old name is not only extremely insightful, but very plausible as well. They explained their points very well in their original post, and I don't want to repeat what they’ve already said, so I do implore you to go read that! It's not detrimental to needing to understand this post, but I highly recommend it. Despite this, I am here to both support their argument and bring my own comparison. Take a look at the cover art for Euclid:

Let me repeat the lesser-known definition of Euclid; a copy of the same. A clone. A replacement. Held in the right hand is the decapitated head of Vessel's old (2nd gen.) mask. Specifically, the one that covers his mouth; the version that relinquishes the most amount of humanity. The album art is a representation of change portrayed in a symbolically gory way. Beheading, depending on the era you’re working from, symbolises both vengeance as well as a form of purification. By cutting off the head, you remove any ‘unholy’ thoughts. It's also among one of the most horrific and humiliating ways of killing someone (since it was typically done publicly, and sometimes the heads were placed on spikes of battlements as a warning).

Furthermore, there's a theory that's popped up a couple of times, lore-wise, that Vessel is not the first person to be turned into a vessel of Sleep, and he certainly won't be the last. So, considering the literal album art illustrates a replacement of Vessel, I’d say that theory is pretty much confirmed. In conclusion, the album art can either be interpreted as how Vessel will eventually be discarded and replaced by another vessel, or how Vessel himself will change, for better or for worse; clawing out of his own skin to become “someone new”.

So, to compare the idea of Euclid being Vessel’s old name, and to create the third perception of what or rather, who, Euclid is, what if Euclid will be the eventual replacement for Vessel?

Most likely not, current Amphoreus is a loop as showcased by its "physical" appearance, doubt it looked like that originally, the only actual planet we've been on is Belobog (Xianzhou is a ship, Herta Space Station is just that a space station and Penacony is an ex-prison turned hotel made by the IPC) and it looks very much like our planets (aka it's a globe that probably spins and does revolutions) but Amphoreus is well either a Mobius Strip, a Infinity Loop or even both, for this post and my overall thoughts : it is both

And while i know it's a video game sci-fi mixed with fantasy, so way not realistic MiHoYo still tends to depict planets as well planets no matter how magical, wild and illogical their ecosystem is/are, they are still globes. So it is safe to assume that the original Amphoreus was just a regular planet. The current appearance is probably caused by Fuli, voluntarily or not.

II- The original Amphoreus

I think we do know about the original Amphoreus, it is told to us quite a lot : it was before the Titans of Calamities (Strife, Death and Trickery) appeared and Titans didn't exist at all, the state at which current Amphoreus is looping : all the titans already exist, and never seem to disappear so Fuli must have taken Amphoreus after that point, now why is it the case? Why isn't it just repeating the entire history?

Fuli's goal is to preserve and memorize everything so that when the Universe inevitably dies and is reborn (think Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6 Stone Ocean, what Pucci did with Made in Heaven and the Heaven Plan is basically, in the overall lines, what Fuli is preparing for) Fuli can recreate the old one as it once was, and well keeping a planet in a constant "gets destroyed, gets reborns, gets destroyed..." loop doesn't seem the most efficient does it?

So Fuli just took it at a point where civilization was well established and stable and before it's inevitable destruction. Keeping it in this loop, in their domain the Eden of Blessed Insight for preservation, Amphoreus being there would explain why only the garden can interact with it, the physical location (ie where the Astral Express stopped to "open" Amphoreus) might not even be accurate, nor does it need to be since the planet is only a memory, Black Swan probably just asked for a fast empty space to not disturb any other planet and to keep Amphoreus somewhat hidden.

Another note that i didn't know where to put : Amphoreus might not even be its original name, while the garden's goal is to preserve all memories untouched, including names, "Amphoreus" is named after the greek's vase "amphora" but another connection is "Pandora's box" as it wasn't a box like you and i imagine but probably an "amphora" this connection has been acknowledged (neither confirmed nor denied) by the developers ; this myth being all about all opening a "box" that was said to never be opened and doing so would unleash all evil/illnesses/ect... upon the world. Amphoreus is just that : Pandora's Box, as Lygus* says to Herta : «You will break the shackles of a Lord Ravager, and when that happens, their fury will engulf the cosmos.», opening Amphoreus will do exactly as the original greek myth said : release evil upon the world. All of this to say that Amphoreus is unlikely to be the original name, moreso a code name by the Garden to act as a warning for the rest of the Universe.

III- Lord Ravager, where art thou?

The loop Amphoreus is endlessly repeating is the "shackles" that is keeping the Lord Ravager from either being created all together or just "asleep", but...well we haven't seen them have we? Makes sense that we haven't, as showing them would ruin the reveal of the Third Path but not even the slightest of hints about their existence was shown. Well at a surface level but we probably already know who they are, or were before becoming a Lord Ravager.

A- Phainon, a bright sun soon to be eclipsed.

Mihoyo has been having a lot of fun sprinkling details and hints about how the "flawless" Chrisos Heir is the current antagonist of the story.

>Repeating a story - Kevin Kaslana & Phainon

Phainon is very much a parallel of Kevin Kaslana, no debates, but the parallels might run deeper than just physical appearance, Phainon might be repeating Kevin's overall story.

Kevin Kaslana was the greatest hero of the 13 Flamechasers and Humanity, just as Phainon is for the Chrisos Heirs but at the end of his story, Kevin Kaslana had to be the antagonist of the protagonist's (K-423) story and Phainon seems to be headed towards the same direction, becoming the final antagonist to the Nameless's story.

>Birth of a Paradox - Flame Reaver & Phainon

The similarities between Phainon and Flame Reaver are too numerous to name all of them but i will list a few :

When Anaxa/Ceres punched Flame Reaver, he was seen "bleeding" out gold, just as the Chrisos Heirs are said to possess golden blood.

Mydeimos only ever said his weak spot to Phainon, his 10th thoracic vertebra, and during the attack in [-] Flame Reaver was seen attacking Mydeimos in this exact spot, which he could only know if he heard about it before.

Both use a one-handed greatsword (or at least are able to one hand a two handed sword.) and seem ambidextrous.

Phainon has sun motif almost everywhere and Flame Reaver has eclipsed sun imagery everywhere, as if the sun was hidden no longer shining.

Another hint/nod regarding Phainon's future as an antagonist, in the currently ongoing event Seal Slammers, the main antagonist of it is "Pie-non" aka Phainon.

However Phainon being Flame Reaver asks the question : How is he even here in the first place? A question that will have to wait until it is answered.*

B- Lord Ravager ?

Now that we have established the connection between Phainon and Flame Reaver, let's talk about the third entity at play with Amphoreus's fate : the Lord Ravager who's its prisoner.

We have only ever met one Lord Ravager before, Phantylia, a Heliobi ; and while very powerful her style was very much created by her victims via internal conflicts rather than outright by herself, so she may not be a good indication as wether or not the average strength for such beings would "engulf the cosmos", beside her we have other named Emanators of Destruction, let's go one by one to see if any of them could be a match.

>The Sun Devourer

A Lord Ravager who inherited this title after targeting mainly Stars, aka "Suns", to plunge the planets into pure darkness and cold and eventual demise.

Besides a single mention linked to the Yvanna Chain 300 years ago, and is also how it god its title, there's not much known regarding this Emanator.

Since we do not know when Amphoreus was destroyed we can't say wether this event happened before or after Amphoreus's destruction, but as far as we know hasn't made an appearance since so a candidate for being "sealed", the lack of information is both good, as it is basically a blank slate for mihoyo to use, and bad for the same reason, mihoyo likes to hint at the future, so the lack of information is a double edged sword. The only link between Phainon and The Sun Devourer would be the "Sun" in its title which isn't linked to appearance and moreso its exploit, however considering Flame Reaver's motif of a broken Sun/a Sun no longer shining it shouldn't be outright ignored, so that's a weak link.

>Zephyro the Scorching Flare

A Lord Ravager who has a passion for raw power, the beauty of things in the moment of their destruction as well as doomsday scenarios, also said to be a "one man army".

Another Lord Ravager with a Sun connection, this one being the prophecy that he will ignite a Sun, and also a greek name as Zephyr is the name of the God of the West Wind, and so more connected to Phainon than The Sun Devourer, and if the prophecy is correct either Zephyro was never sealed and is so still running rampant or will be freed from a seal and created the Sun of New Bethlehem, which could align with the current story of Amphoreus, as i imagine the story eventually ending with the Lord Ravager shackled being freed.

Even how Zephyro acts could align with Phainon, Phainon based on Kevin Kaslana would fit the definition of a "one man army" and the doomsday scenarios could be from the sad fates and unfortunate fates of the Chrisos Heirs, the "love things in the moment of destruction" is a bit harder to explain but considering how Amphoreus is basically in a state moments away from destruction it could work.

One major issue is that they were spotted in the Tia'nua galaxy and depending on when that was, would either be another hint or destroy this comparison.

And those were the only 2 named Lord Ravagers that had even the slightest of similarities to Phainon/Flame Reaver, we still have 2 unnamed ones, a third candidate still floats and has one really strong point.

C- The Chess Grandmaster

The only Lord Ravager shown to be directly tied in some way to Amphoreus as it was shown in the Golden Epic trailer as well as a single word, "Strife" being mentioned to describe them, but Strife is Mydeimos not Phainon.

Besides those two small relations to Amphoreus, this Emanator just doesn't fit the bill, they're said to have led a millenia long campaign which, does not match with how the Lord Ravager shackled is described, from how Lygus talks about them it seems they're a being with a lot of raw power, so almost the opposite of the slow and steady as well as calm demeanor of the Chess Grandmaster.

But if the Chess Grandmaster is not the one shackled, then why are they at play with Amphoreus ?*

IV- Paradoxes, one must create itself

Not to discredit Lygus, whomst i will talk about later, but let's look at this in another angle.

What if we aren't dealing with a simple Lord Ravager? The destruction that this one being is said to bring is much more than the other Lord Ravagers, none are said to bring dangers to the whole cosmos, only galaxies at best, and very few known ones actually exhibit such feats of raw power. So this makes me think that maybe, we are dealing with a being way more powerful, who's rage could end the entire cosmos.

But before that discussion, let's get some things in order.

A-Paradoxes and Oronyx the Time Titan

*Flame Reaver's existence is a paradox if Phainon and them are one and the same, after all according to Phainon himself it was Flame Reaver who killed Cyrene, how could 2 people be at the same place? Well could happen on a planet on which time doesn't flow correctly, a planet who's time akin to a mobius strip, with a titan who can rewind time, on such a planet time is non linear.

Everytime Flame Reaver attacks a place it either spares Phainon or Phainon is not there, but why would that be? Simple, if Phainon dies Flame Reaver cannot be created in the Future and so would die, but how is Flame Reaver created? Unclear but potentially related to a failed Flamechase journey, but what if the FlameChase journey failed because of Flame Reaver's intervention, killing the Chrisos Heirs ? The paradoxical nature of the environment would make it possible for Flame Reaver to create itself in an endlessly repeating loop of its own, each time it's created it goes back in time, using Oronyx's powers perhaps, and makes it so the Phainon of the "past" would become the Flame Reaver of the "future" and and would be able to go back in the "past" or "present" to create the events that led to its creation.

A being stuck in a true paradoxical loop, a seemingly inescapable prison, Flame Reaver and Phainon are the ones shackled, breaking the cycle would allow Flame Reaver to escape or allow Phainon to become something even greater than Flame Reaver.

B- The original Amphoreus, the original Phainon and the birth of Nanook

Nanook ascension into Aeonhood is known, we know where and even what led to its destruction but we have never seen it, and with Amphoreus being an already long dead planet it could align with Nanook's story.

>Adlivun the Diamond world

Adlivun was a tragic planet doomed by two disastrous events : The Swarm Disaster and The Anti-organic War, these two disaster are what led to Nanook ascension and the unfortunate destruction of the world upon this event happening.

The Swarm Disaster, chronologically the first event, happened all throughout the cosmos in 13XX Amber Era, an event at such a scale that it involved most of the Aeons of that time, the original Amphoreus could have easily been one of the thousands if not millions of infected planets, and one of the lucky few to survive it. The first Mechanical War soon followed and brought back remnants of the Swarm and with both conflicts bringing Adlivun to its end, it all culminated with Nanook ascending and finally destroying the planet, leaving nothing of it behind.

And while the IPC existed, seemingly during both events or as a result of the Swarm (my memory is a bit foggy around Swarm Disaster lore it's been so long), they at least existed during the Mechanical Wars, but by that time Adlivun was basically already dead, still plagued by leftovers of an Aeonless swarm and the destruction of its last remnant of civilization by the Mechanical War, a planet of very little interest to both Qlipoth the Preservation and the young IPC.

And even if the IPC had records of it, and if my theory of Amphoreus not being it's original name is correct, they would have them under the name "Adlivun" not "Amphoreus" explaining why they "don't know" anything about Amphoreus, that name is kept within the circles of the Garden and to keep it hidden and pure, not spoken outside.

The original Amphoreus being Adlivun would then explain why it is such in a "primitive" state with little technology, the Mechanical War would have left all machinery destroyed out of conflict or to avoid more being corrupted by the equation, Fuli would have then recreated Amphoreus without the technology and kept it as primitive as it is now (i think them having "phones" was made also because playable characters hold phones when pausing which hoyo would like to keep that consistent since the menu looks like a phone screen and maybe giving them nothing or paper would look "weird"), the Black Tide could also be the result of a weird recreation of the Swarm leftovers, after all the Black Tide seems to endlessly propagate and spawn monsters. It would also answer the question as to what happened to the original planet : it was completely destroyed when Nanook ascended.

>Phainon, Flame Reaver & Nanook, a single entity?

This isn't my observation, multiple people have noted the clear similarities between the three, but still let's analyze them.

Nanook ressembles a golden eyed, dark skinned human male, with long braided white hair, wearing a black robbed adorned with purple gem and finally a body cut apart into ribbon-like and a giant scar on his torso from which flows golden blood (that seems to turn to dust or sand) and finally behind them, an eclipsed Sun.

Let's go from the most important point to the least important one to see how they match up with Phainon :

Golden Blood : this is the most obvious connection, Chrisos Heirs are said to be born with golden blood, and while that might be metaphorical (we have yet to see someone bleed from a physical injury) Nanook takes that literally. Also noticed that one of the "splashes" of the golden liquid seems to take on a similar shape to that of Nanook's scar, however it is located way lower (towards the stomach rather upper chest area), so this may be nothing and just a coincidence, still noteworthy.

Eclipsed Sun : this is a very "small" detail within Nanook's design, due to Aeons being a bit odd with their appearance this may not even part of Nanook, but regardless they are depicted with it so it not to be ignored. This detail would tie in more to Flame Reaver since they have a direct eclipse motif while Phainon has a Sun. I would like to note that Nanook's eclipse is a nearly identical match for this eclipse, as both are depicted "bleeding" gold, the hand shown could be Nanook's hand (metaphorically, Aeons are bigger than planets after all).

Black Robe & purple gems : this is a more direct physical link between Flame Reaver and Nanook, the robe Nanook wears could be Flame Reaver's cape, and while Flame Reaver does not have purple gems, it does have purple in its hood, and in both designs purple seems like the odd color, Phainon does not have purple at all, but Kevin does in its Deliverance form, and purple being a mix of Blue and Red, the blue of Phainon could have been tainted by red blood, resulting in the purple seen in Flame Reaver.

Hair : the weakest link, as hair color in an anime game doesn't imply link between characters, many having similar hair color while being unrelated, however the spiky, a bit "wild" hairstyle and color combined can be taken as another purposeful design similarity but beyond that, not much to say about it.

Now they are things in the designs that are very different, mainly the skin color and golden eyes, easiest to explain would be the eyes, this could be a result of the Chrisos Heir blood, the skin would be harder to explain but considering the wild designs of Aeons in general, i don't think that alone disqualify the rest of the similarities.

C- There won't be a 2nd Nanook

A bit of a shorter segment, but, I would like to explain what would happen if Pandora's Box were to be open, if Phainon is indeed Nanook. Simple answer : A weird thing, we don't know what would happen if two Aeons following the exact same path were to exist simultaneously, however we do know that Aeons do absorb "each other" if the paths are similar enough, the more broader path "winning" and becoming the one that stays ; so we can assume that a similar event would happen in that scenario.

Not to completely discredit Lygus's words, (that were said highlighted in yellow just like all prophecies i will add) but i assume such an event, absorbing oneself basically, could trigger Nanook to act, thus explaining "[...] their fury that will engulf the cosmos.".

Lygus's words could also be taken as maybe a warning from the past, however Lygus is an entity that has been gazed upon by Nous, which could only happen after Amphoreus was recreated by Fuli, so it is unlikely that it's that.

It could also be that since Nanook already exist, Phainon might not be able to complete his ascension, we have experience with stopping someone from becoming an Aeon : Sunday. His Boss 2nd phase hints at him starting the ascension in the flavor text "Using the Harmonious Choir as a foundation, the power of Order and Harmony intertwine to form the shell of an egg, within which the newborn god slumbers.", not directly saying Aeon, but, Aeons have been called Gods, and beside Amphoreus few civilization have other being compared to Gods, and the mixing of both Order and Harmony could create a third path, a perfect mix of both which could be the broadest and thus absorbing both (but this isn't a Sunday post so let's stop there). And so it is possible to prevent Phainon's ascension all together, either completely and allowing him to" turn back" into a human, like Sunday, or unfortunately "midway" and stopping at a being that would become a Lord Ravager as being technically Nanook itself, it would also embody Destruction and be gazed upon by itself.

Considering Amphoreus arc seems to be all about fighting against fate, it seems that the option of stopping the ascension and thus rewriting Phainon's fate could be the most likely answer, also since we aren't actually rewriting the past and just the memory of Amphoreus, this won't make Nanook dissappear in our present but might for the Future Universe, since Fuli will use the memories to recreate the Universe, us modifying it could have an impact and outright prevent Nanook from existing in this Future Universe, but that's something we don't have a lot of knowledge about so this is extreme speculation.

D- Chess Grandmaster's play

*And with all of that, what is the Chess Grandmaster doing in Amphoreus? I think they are aware of who is in Amphoreus, and also the consequences of tempering with it.

If Chess Grandmaster is indeed aware of Nanook being the one shackled to Amphoreus, it would make sense that they would want to free them, even if there isn't a 2nd Nanook born from the ascension, the raw power alone would destroy Amphoreus, and Destruction is the goal of the Lord Ravagers, now would destroying the memory make it so that Nanook wouldn't be created in the Future Universe? Very unclear but to a Lord Ravager, would that even matter? I think not, they're all about destruction in the moment present, wether or not a potential future universe allows them to exist would not concern them.

Another idea is that Chess Grandmaster would not destroy the shackles but just stop us from rewriting the memory and erasing Nanook's ascension, so that Destruction can exist in the Future Universe as well.

Without more details about the Chess Grandmaster as a whole, it is difficult to guess why they would involve themselves with Amphoreus, but these would be my best guesses.

V- Conclusion

These are all my thoughts regarding Amphoreus's greatest hero Phainon, some obvious things already compiled by the community, but, i tried to not just repeat all that was said so i avoided videos and other form of sharing thoughts so i could make sure these were all my own, but if you notice similarities i suppose then my interpretations aren't all that inaccurate.

Obviously no matter how many hints there is, MiHoYo could still go in a completely different direction but this was quite fun to write, i didn't expect such a long post but thoughts kept adding themselves to my brain, i might even get more ideas after posting this, if enough thoughts accumulate i could make a part 2.

And a little last bonus for the road and because i did say i would talk about him :

Z- *Lygus, hint at a 4th path?

This is an idea that i must credit a friend for, she is the first to implement the idea in my head. She noted the similar designs between Lygus and HooH the Equilibrium, and thus a secret 4th Path somehow entangled within Amphoreus, and so let's make points!

Symmetrical designs : HooH has a 99% symmetrical designs, most of their components are flipped in different ways (i am not really good at geometry so i couldn't tell you in detail which axis) since they're all about perfect balance, meanwhile, Lygus gets pretty close to a 1:1 symmetrical design as well, the only asymetry being his hands and chest decorated with a design resembling the Vortex of Genesis, other than these he's very symmetrical, which is an odd design choice if he wasn't connected to equilibrium.

Hands : both designs feature hands as the main eye-catch, HooH's hands being in a prayer like motion and Lygus's seem to be carrying the Vortex of Genesis, and while not fully gold ly Lygus's hands HooH's do feature some golden accents, with both designs having very other details the hands stand out a lot.

Hole : It is unknown if the center of HooH is a hole or not but both designs do feature them as the other main notable points on their designs, and both "holes" are located in similar areas in the middle of the chest.

With both designs being quite simple, in MiHoYo standards, there isn't a lot to say but the few that there is can be notable and an actual link, if a 4th patch (in this case Equilibrium) is indeed at play this could complicate things even more, but while not fully baseless, i do not yet if i believe this, but we are just in 3.2 more hints about this will surely come if this is true.

I will note that despite being gazed at by Nous, there is nothing going against the idea of Lygus being linked to 2 paths, a potential creation of HooH being gazed at by Nous after its involvement with Amphoreus is likely.

I think I realize her problem-she has nothing to back it up. She is the classic one trick pony. YouTube creators, tiktok creators create a ton of good content or crazy content-but today's world has changed. You need new content to stay relevant. Rehashing the same thing over and over and over is not going to sell. I mean look at Jake Paul or any number of sinners on youtube.I think they know this and that is why they are pushing for reconciliation-so they can have new content. They desperately want new content. While now it is harry reached out to William , but no contact back articles are released-strategically before the Austin event, just imagine what kind of articles will be released-if William responded and said a cursory hello..I think by now, the duo know they are worthless without the BRF. For now all they have is stories from the past that they keep spinning-but to be relevant-they need new content.George pushed Archie down and called him a xyz. How racist of George. Catherine didn't let me borrow her car and I had to hire a taxi and face the paps blah, blah . Any contact and Hey Voila-new content-problem solved for the Sussexes. They are back to being relevant. I think Markles know they need new content to stay afloat and I think the BRF knows that they are viewed as content and not people for the harkles and so keeping at arms length. didn't have many resolutions for 2024. i tend not to make many in the first place; i am Very Bad at the reining in of my self, and Past Kat has taught me that if i make the resolution and don't meet it that flagellation and extremely negative self-talk are Just Punishments and are deserved and that i am a useless idiot of the highest degree.

but. i did have a couple. and actually managed to meet them.

i wanted to leave more feedback on the stories i read. i devour so much fic over the course of a year and while the kudos button is extremely useful for when i'm having a 'don't look at me' day (of which there are many), there is nothing like being an author and receiving a comment--especially on a story that isn't the newest or freshest by fandom standards (by which i mean one that's six or more months old). it's exhilarating, even if it's just someone saying 'i really liked this,' and leaving it at that. you feel seen to a certain degree.

and when you're a reader and leave feedback and the author responds? EVEN BETTER. you feel that nascent sense of connection, of reaching out and feeling someone else's fingertips brush against yours. it's a whisper answering yours in the dark, that 'sound off if you're not dead' meme come to life.

and in today's fandom culture, it's terrifically reassuring.

so i started reaching out myself and leaving my messy, unhinged little grubby palmprints on stories, saying what really hit me, what i liked, tried to describe the static crackling in my brain when a tale shook me up like an Etch-A-Sketch.

sometimes it connected. sometimes it didn't, and that's fine too.

i also tried to do it here on tumblr, where (to me, at least) it's...scarier? more anxiety-inducing? to reach out, whether it's via asks or replies or reblogging. i still have to remind myself not to lurk so much, to actively participate. and everyone knows it's almost harder to take part in fandom nowadays, what with the Purity Police on a tear and exclusionist little shadow communities that will fucking no-scope headshot you if you put a toe wrong when voicing an opinion.

it's even more intimidating when you're not a Fandom Young. which i am decidedly not.

and i kept that resolution, too. i replied on stories on here so much more, replied to posts even though people don't know me from the holes in their noses. i was enthusiastic, tried to be positive without being overly familiar. i am a big dumb puppy with big dumb feet and i galumphed onto posts happily. and again: sometimes i got a response. sometimes i didn't.

but i did reach out. which, for an introvert and someone who is wholly and completely convinced of her own insignificant and meaningless nature, is a Feat.

so huzzah for me, for trying. might no one else consider this an accomplishment, but i do. and i'm gonna keep trying.

For no particular reason (really) I woke up today remembering a peculiar situation I brought myself into in this hellsite some years ago.

So, to give some context, I have a long-time friend who has been a die-hard of anything related to Tolkien for longer than some of y'all have been alive. But because she is a hopeful person, she got excited when she heard about the Rings of Power show. Particularly because of how it was hinted at on Twitter while it was in production.

So because I wanted her to have a good experience, I also wanted the show to be good. I mean, who knew, maybe this time would be an exception, right?

Anyway, first trailers drop and discussions arise, and someone on tumblr makes the mistake of fake-newsing everyone by posting a promotional video (which in all fairness was bad) and claiming it was the show's opening credits. A mutual reblogs the post - which already had some additions mocking the "credits" - I go into the comments, I see that it's not the real credits, and I make a comment of the nature of "Maybe we should watch the real credits before we make a critique of it" and a comment later I say "also pirate the stuff, amazon won't starve without your money".

Of course, tumblr being tumblr...

I got an anon calling me a bootlicker. Me, tumblr user piracytheorist, who in the second breath of talking about it suggested we should pirate stuff, am a bootlicker. I mean, they tried. A random person in the comments of the post tried to talk back, I said we should critique the show but OP was misinforming people and we should at least make sure what we're critiquing it for, and they were like "What was the misinformation?" so yeah, they also tried.

But then, the worst offender was what I think that same mutual vagueblogging about my comment. Which is why, if you have a beef with a mutual - especially one you've connected with before outside of fandom stuff - take it to them and don't vagueblog. I was in the guilty position of vagueblogging once, and yeah it did cause a friendship to break apart (though we figured things out recently).

I mean, they could have been vagueblogging about literally anything else. But that's the problem with the vague part of it. I'll never know. Because seeing the mutual passionate in dragging the show through the dirt, and then vagueblogging about "not being affiliated" with something via a The Incredibles meme after I questioned the legitimacy of that specific critique... it could have been that, it could have not. I will never know.

Anyway, we watched the show, my friend didn't like it but is still a little hopeful for at least seeing cool backgrounds, I didn't like it and I still haven't watched the last two episodes, lol. But I can assure you the fake credits video had absolutely nothing to do with the things I disliked about it. I was only invested in it because my friend was invested and I wanted it to be good so that my friend would enjoy it. But alas, money spoke above all and it wasn't good. And also alas, tumblr is tumblr and how dare you not hate something the way I hate it - misinformed.

So yeah. Don't vagueblog, kids, especially if it's about mutuals 🫠

I'm putting this one under a cut just so people read the first damn paragraph.

I am playing through Outer Wilds for the first time, I've beaten the base game and I'm now going through the DLC. I do not want ANY information whatsoever, spoiler or not. I want to learn everything by myself. The questions and observations I make are for me to think about and answer, not you. If you post a reply or reblog with tags that go against these wishes, you will be blocked immediately.

If you saw my last post, you know that I sum up what I know and what I want to learn after each play session and send that to my friend who's watching me play through the game. If you didn't see my last post, well now you know. I've actually had two sessions since my last post - I just never got a chance to do a full write up of the former of the two. I'll do my best to put some of it here though.

Alright so. The Strangers came from their star system to ours, presumably in search of the Eye after seeing its echo. I think that they showed up prior to the Nomai, given that they only activated the Stranger's cloaking mechanism after reaching our star system, they appear to have been killed by ghost matter, and the Nomai have no writings about the Stranger. It doesn't seem like they can return, given the fact that they seemed grief stricken when looking at slides of their home world and the fact that they're still here. I initially thought that the way their eyes go empty and their mouths split in an... unsettling manner was something the Eye caused somehow, but it turns out that empty eyes and slit mouths are just... things they do, though it's often portrayed in a sinister way. I... don't think their motives are sinister though. I think that's just how I interpret those expressions. After receiving the vision of the Eye destroying everything, they turned on it. They seemed to hold it in reverence similar to the Nomai at first, but now they seem to despise it. They're upset, they're angry, and I think that's worth respecting. Once they turned against the Eye, they went into hiding, and... I don't think they want to be found, given their reactions when I do run into them. I feel like I'm intruding, like I'm doing something wrong for reasons I don't even understand yet. I have a path to unlocking the vault, but... it almost feels irresponsible not to have an idea of why it was locked in the first place. They made it, they want it closed, and I'm not welcome. Of course, they never truly hurt me, but maybe they can't hurt me, not in a dream. I can test it, by hurting myself, so I'll do that.

I am... almost convinced that there's a living Stranger still around due to the empty bed in the Cinder Isle dream chamber. And if they're alive... they'd be underwater, to avoid the ghost matter. Perhaps a living Stranger might have a way to communicate, and perhaps they'd be more amenable to my presence than the dreaming Strangers. They might have information, and as always, I have all the time in the world to search for them.

Of course... there is the matter that there's more info to be found for me in two of the dream regions. I could blindly dive around to try and find a living Stranger, but I think searching the dream world will be more productive.

In the base game, I felt a connection to the Nomai. I could understand them and their motives entirely, and I knew I wanted to find the Eye very early on. I was working with and alongside the Nomai, carrying on their legacy, and considered a friend by Solanum. With the Strangers, I feel disconnected and adversarial. Currently, I feel like I am working against them, and the intentionally eerie atmosphere definitely enhances this feeling. I feel at unease when I'm viewing their history, more so when I'm experiencing their dream, and especially so when I've disturbed them. The information I gather is via their slides, many of which are heavily damaged, and even their visions provide little insight into why they act the way they do. There's a lot I don't understand. And I think I need to understand before I try and violate their wishes.

Questions:

Why do the Strangers act the way they do?

What is in the vault?

If there is a living Stranger, where are they?

I still don't know why the sun doesn't activate their devices, or why their fires burn green. Notably, the candles in the dream world DON'T burn green, so green is special in some way.

Did you ever feel like your art is overlooked in fandom? How did you feel? It's so scary to be in a new fandom but I've been here for more than a year now and I still feel like I'm talking to the wall.

i answered a similar ask here and you didn't ask for advice specifically but there it is if you want it. takeaway from that post is, start initiating the kinds of interactions you want to have with people. if you want comments on your fic, comment on other peoples fic. if you want people to play ask games, send other people asks too.

personally I have very little emotional attachment to how my stuff "performs" if we're talking notes/reblogs/comments/kudos. i do care about connecting with other people via art, but i would say my 'quota' for doing that is like, one other person in addition to myself being enthusiastic about my art, and i'm pretty much guaranteed that from the get go because i have friends. and i don't mean just friends i met in this fandom (although fandom friends are awesome) i mean friends irl who are enthusiastic and encouraging.

so i don't feel 'overlooked', and if i ever have over a post that i think "deserved" to do better it's been in a "why are you booing me, i'm right" kind of way that i forget about almost immediately because i'm onto the next thing.

on that note, if there's one new piece of advice i could offer here it's that if you post something and it doesn't do well (and remember that "well" is a relative term), try not to fall into the trap of being so upset by it that you're unable or unwilling to make more art. for a while there last year i was down about some irl stuff and i had a sticky on my computer that said "why don't you write porn about it" not about my actual circumstances but like, it's my version of screaming into a pillow.

Q: What are you interested in? / What do you blog about? A: My current fixation is Madagascar/The Penguins of Madagascar. A: Requests are always open, just keep in mind that I take a loooong time to answer them (And lots of times I save them to my drafts and they end up collecting dust). [ D ] :     I know this is gonna be a little odd, given that Eutrope is basically a WWE fighter, but I don't really write a lot of violence - largely because I don't have a huge appetite for violence, horror, or gore. (I'm more than a little squeamish, actually, and a lot of my squicks fall into that general category.) I'm also more than a little skittish with abusive/toxic dynamics, just because it tends to mess with my mental health, so I probably won't engage with them without having some rapport with you first.

[ E ] :     I will not ship with any underage muses or any incest ships. I'm not going to shame the people who like that for fictional content, because I don't want to make a blanket assumption, but I don't want it here (yes, even though I have aged Eutrope up from canon because I think it works better!) and won't be doing it.

[ F ] :     If a reply has sat for over a month with the other person, I'm going to assume the interaction has been dropped unless otherwise discussed. It's nothing personal (no, seriously, have a life outside of RP and don't prioritize me to the detriment of everything else!), I just tend to "lose the plot" for things that go more than a few weeks between replies and I don't want to force myself to try to regain that momentum if it's going to just be a struggle.

[ G ] :     I don't typically block when I unfollow (hard or soft), since most of the time, I'm unfollowing because someone's gone inactive, hasn't followed me back in 2+ weeks, or otherwise just hasn't shown interest in interacting with me. (Honestly, if I block someone, it's usually because there's some kind of hard red flag for me - like unnecessarily hostile takes in a blog's rules, active engagement in callout culture, or dictating who I shouldn't interact with - that are an indication I am not going to be a good fit for that person.)
