Rtd is genuinely a terrible writer and I fully believe that after the BYLLSHIT he’s pulled with 15

Sure the highs are high but the lows are SO LOW. The lows are bad. Day what you want about 13 but her lowest moment was a couple minutes of a single episode. 15’s lowest moments are common

ncuti gatwa had 17 episodes as the doctor. TOTAL. including the christmas special (not including the 60th specials). 2 series and 17 episodes... and for two of those he wasn't even in most of it because they were ruby solo eps. GONE TOO FUCKING SOON

I cannot wait for the day this era is properly appreciated the way it should have been in the first place

Personally I don't think the Doctor/Rani dance was inherently romantic. I think she was taunting him, making fun of him, probably straight up lying to him and making up that story.

no? no, he clearly doesn't and he never has. his ideal doctor who is rose tyler (lbr his mary-sue, because however much i am told not to use that term she clearly is one) and a doctor that looks like david tennant and everything else is Wrong and we must constantly be told that. 10 "mourning" rose that much is not in-character, actually, it is not an unavoidable issue, it's a deliberate writing choice to Not Let Go of rtd's one true companion. so martha jones gets fucked over (again, a choice was made to focus on her love for the doctor and how he could never ever want her), and rtd doesn't care and neither did the fandom because they too thought that rose being gone was a glitch to be fixed. because rtd fucking encouraged them to.

so rose is somehow in s3 even though she isn't, and then she's back in s4 where she is given a man who looks like david tennant. to look after. and 'heal'. (aside: no, the 9th doctor was healed by running into people and things that made him confront the past. rose was just a nice distraction for him between those brief therapy sessions. yet she's given the credit for them. because of course the one true companion must have done that!)

and then when he has to write out david tennant... *sigh* off we go to see rose fucking tyler again after spending the rest of our time being sad about not being david tennant anymore, and he goes out COMPLAINING that he can't face not being david tennant in the tardis with rose "russell t" tyler. and then you wonder why people stopped watching at that point? you wonder why they still complain about the eleventh doctor not being david tennant? they were told to!

and then rtd comes back. and so does david tennant. and... yes we can all see where this is going HOW DID YOU NOT? rtd has never been willing to move on and accept change. he hates having to change things in doctor who. this has been obvious since 2007. but fandom liked martha being fucked over in the name of rose-and-david-tenannt so they just ignored it.

idek what to think of this episode anymore. like i did have the time of my life watching it cause well it was entertaining to say the least

but it was also......deeply fucked up?

like it felt like a fanfic: belinda and 15 just accepting that they have a child together? the doctor being like "we met just so that we could have a child together [without our knowledge or consent]" and belinda just rolling with it?

i know it was all fake in the end but somehow it didn't make it any better. like it was just horror after horror after horror and that's kind of a rtd thing, to leave you speechless

but what also used to be a rtd thing was loose ends coming together and making sense in the end, plots being threaded together in a beautiful web that actually made sense. but this wasn't it.

it wasn't fucked up in a "midnight" or "donna's metaphorical death" way anymore. it was just fucked up. it almost feels as though rtd gave bits and pieces then was replaced by a fucking idiot?

rtd1 was magnificent. idk what to think of rtd2 anymore other than i am now deeply disturbed and i have no fucking clue how to express this

maybe it's all going to make sense in series 16 (if we even get one): explain why susan's back, if billie piper actually is the 16th doctor of course (i immediately noticed she wasn't credited as such when i went "ok this is way too big i'm gonna check the credits"), why the rani and bigeneration were relevant, mrs flood, ncuti leaving so abruptly (did he actually fucking leave??), wtf was belinda doing here after all (a child? really?), why ruby retains memories that even the doctor doesn't, etc... but even so, couldn't they just make it work within that 15th series? plots criss-crossing between series doesn't fucking work i thought this was obvious

we need the old 13 episodes series back cause that 8 episodes format isn't doing SHIT

There’s something so heartbreaking about watching your favourite parts of a tv show, the parts that you have loved for years and found so much joy in, being misunderstood, forgotten and erased by it’s predecessors.

13’s beautiful TARDIS interior, and sonic screwdriver erased to make way for nostalgia.

13’s clothes, her entire outfit, burnt up never to be seen again without any explanation.

Yaz, who 13 was in love with, who she wanted to tell everything to and spend the rest of her days with, not even mentioned - not even hinted at!

13’s character, her core personality traits and storyline reduced to ‘woman Doctor’ and fundamentally misunderstood!

13’s fam, the family that she found and built, not even mentioned or reminisced about!

I’m glad that the Timeless Child wasn’t erased, but I feel like so much else was that RTD didn’t properly watch 13’s era. It’s like he was given a summary and only took the parts that he thought was interesting.

13’s memory deserves better! She deserves to have passed on the baton to Ncuti’s Doctor, to have him running around high on regeneration energy while wearing her outfit! To use her sonic for an episode before choosing to make his own!

13 deserves to be remembered as a Doctor who was loved dearly by her companions and fans, as a Doctor who went through so much tragedy right from the start and struggled to deal with that, but still managed to face down her foes! As a someone who was optimistic and kind, but could also be cruel and harsh when needed! She was complicated, she went through so much, I love her and she will always be my Doctor.

She deserves to be remembered as more than ‘woman Doctor’, because she was so much more than that.
