The JL fighting a multiversal threat, and the for keeps disappearing into different universes/worlds. While everyone is coming up with ways to travel to apprehend the foe, Captain Marvel has an idea.

Flash: while I can travel through universes, it’s going to take a while to l’acte which one they’re on, and even then, they can leave before I even do anything.

The JL is horrified, and Cap is just sitting in his seat, all chill.

when he went to David in batgirl 2000 and saw that horrifically fond look on that man’s face watching reruns of Cass being abused and the utter disgust he felt… just for Cass to tell him he smiles just the same when it comes to her

GOD YOU'RE RIGHT YOU'RE RIGHTTTT OMGAgjsdibkbeskfd YOU are the one making me sick right now I can't stop thinking about this. Like look at these panels:

Batgirl (2000) #4 // #5 // #11 // #48 // #3 // #6

Puckett, Scott, Horrocks, and Leonardi in particular were going HARD at David/Bruce parallels. Bruce doesn't just smile like David he frowns like him and caresses Cass like him (see also the Bruce-Cass cheek touch mirroring that first David-Cass scene in No Man's Land). And even Bruce's firing of her in #48 (after his revelation that he's hurting Cass) was conducted in a David-like manner, where the focus was a bit more on his guilt rather than her suffering.

Bruce is undeniably a better parent but he falls into the same traps, and sometimes expresses love the same way as David. And I think after a truth-serumed Cass says he smiles like David, Bruce would sit in that cave in the same pose as that first panel and just. go over everything. piecing together each horrifying instance that he did mirror David. What's interesting is that when Bruce fires Cass, he also deliberately puts distance between them. He's punishing himself the way he punished David.

For David's crimes, he forbade him from ever getting close to Cass again (this is incredibly done in Puckett's run, where after this Cass and David are almost always separated by screens or glass). If Bruce realises the extent to which he mirrors David, it's very likely he'd punish himself the same way. No more seeing his beloved Cassie. It would hurt both of them immeasurably, but Bruce would think a) it's for her sake and b) he deserves that pain.

I NEED DAVID, CASS AND BRUCE TO INTERACT AGAIN 😭😭
